Akeem Spence arrested on marijuana charge

(1/15/2014) Buccaneers defensive tackle Akeem Spence was arrested on a marijuana possession charge after he was stopped by an Alabama trooper for speeding, reports the Tampa Bay Tribune. The fourth-round pick in last year's draft was clocked at over 100 mph, the report said.

Spence started 14 games, recording 19 tackles and a sack.

(12/27/2013) The Buccaneers have five defensive players on the injury report for Week 17 against the Saints, and they could be without the majority of them Sunday. Among the five players, only Lavonte David (elbow) and defensive lineman Akeem Spence (wrist) are probable for Sunday's game.

They are joined by the injury report by linebackers Ka'Lial Glaud (knee) and Dekoda Watson (groin), along with defensive  back Mark Barron (hamstring), all of whom are questionable for the game.

Linebacker Lavonte David (hamstring) and defensive lineman Akeem Spence (wrist) are both probable for Sunday's game, after getting through practice throughout the week without issue.

(12/8/2013) Of the four players from the defensive side of the field on the injury report for Week 14 for the Buccaneers, only one was forced to miss Sunday's game against the Bills. Defensive lineman Gary Gibson (calf) was inactive as a result of his injury.

Otherwise, the team's injured defenders were able to play, as defensive linemen Da'Quan Bowers (knee) and Akeem Spence (wrist), along with defensive back Darrelle Revis (chest, shoulder) are all active at kickoff.

(12/6/2013) Buccaneers defensive back Darrelle Revis (chest, shoulder) was able to practice throughout the week in spite of his injuries, and should have no trouble playing Sunday against the Bills. Revis is officially considered probable for Week 14 despite the injuries.

Both Spence and Bowers were full participants in practice each day this week. Banks was limited Wednesday, but was upgraded to full practice Thursday and Friday.

(11/1/2013) The Buccaneers defense is dealing with a number of injuries in Week 9 against the Seahawks, based on Friday's injury report. Linebacker Mason Foster (hamstring), defensive lineman Akeem Spence (wrist) and defensive back Keith Tandy (ankle) were all able to get through the week in practice and are probable, but represent less than half of the team's list of injured players.

The Buccaneers have four players on the injury report who are considered questionable for the game: defensive backs Mark Barron (hip) and Dashon Goldson (knee); linebacker Dekoda Watson; and defensive lineman Derek Landri (back) were all limited at times in practice due to their injuries.

(10/23/2013) The Buccaneers released a long injury report for Thursday's game against Carolina. Guard Carl Nicks (foot) and running back Jeff Demps (groin) have been ruled out along with running back Doug Martin (shoulder). 

Safety Dashon Goldson (knee) and wideout Chris Owusu (foot) are questionable, along with receiver Mike Williams (hamstring).

The probables include corner Michael Adams (knee), safety Mark Barron (hip), defensive end Da'Quan Bowers (toe), tight end Tom Crabtree (ankle), guard Davin Joseph (knee), defensive lineman Akeem Spence (wrist) and safety Keith Tandy (concussion).


Akeem Spence nets first career sack

(9/23/2013) Buccaneers rookie defensive tackle Akeem Spence recorded his first career sack on Sunday of Week 3 during a loss at New England. Spence can always say his first sack came against Tom Brady.

Spence had four tackles in the game and three were solo stops. He now has seven tackles in three games for the Buccaneers. The 21-year-old out of Illinois has been impressive in the early stages of the season.
