Texans have battle for No. 3 RB job

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(8/13/2013)
Texans running back Cierre Wood appears to have moved ahead of Dennis Johnson in the battle for the No. 3 job behind Arian Foster and Ben Tate, reports Comcast Sports Net.
Johnson played a lot Friday in the preseason opener against the Vikings and "wasn't too impressive." The report said he came into the game the likely favorite to win the third-string job, but Wood made up a ton of ground and might have passed him.

"We could have gave (Johnson) a little more space to do something," coach Gary Kubiak said. "The biggest thing in this league is never have negative plays. You’re always coaching your backs, you get the ball downhill. He had a couple plays where he got a little negative and a return at the end of the game where he's messing around a little bit back there. But he had a good outing. He did some good stuff picking up blitzes. He just didn't have the numbers that maybe the other kids had."
