"I mistakenly failed to clear it with Eagles trainers and check the NFL list of banned substances. I am extremely sorry for this mistake and I will learn from it and be smarter in the future."

Bigger, stronger Lane Johnson reports to OTAs

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(4/25/2014) Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson, who played his rookie year at 310 pounds, showed up to OTAs "bigger and stronger," reports the team's website. Johnson reflected on his rookie season.

"It went good. I think I had some rookie bumps in the first half of the year, but toward the latter part of the year I think I played really well," he said. "I think my body is a whole lot more rested than it was last year. I feel a lot stronger than I was last year, I weigh more than last year – it’s the most I’ve ever weighed – and I just feel that from a mental aspect I know what to expect. Nothing is going to catch me off guard."

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(1/27/2014) The Eagles' Lane Johnson, who started all 16 games at right tackle as a rookie, eventually could move to left tackle, reports Birds 24/7. “He’s done it at a high level in college football and he’s certainly got the movement skills and the size and the length," general manager Howie Roseman said.

Jason Peters, Philly's current left tackle, is entering the last year of his contract.

Lane Johnson hopes to avoid holdout

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(7/11/2013) Eagles rookie offensive tackle Lane Johnson, the No. 4 overall pick, is still without a contract less than two weeks before the start of training camp

The website phillymag.com reports that the holdup in Johnson's contract is largely about offset language. The Eagles want offset language in the contract, the Johnson camp does not.

"I'm just trying to get a similar deal to everyone else," Johnson said. "I just want to do what everyone else has done, the picks above and below me. ... I think it will be resolved, especially in the next week or two. I don't want to hold out. I want to be there with the guys. I want to be with the team and I think something will happen in the next week or so."

Johnson is aiming to be the starting right tackle for Week 1 against the Redskins.
