RB Tristan Davis quits Redskins

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(7/30/2013) Redskins running back Tristan Davis has decided to retire, coach Mike Shanahan told the Washington Post. Davis missed the 2012 season with a knee injury and was not making headway in training camp.

“Tristan Davis came to my office early this morning and said that his heart wasn’t into playing football anymore, and so he retired," Shanahan said. "Unless he changes his mind, that’s where he’s at."

Roy Helu in lead for No. 2 spot

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(7/26/2013) Redskins running back Roy Helu appears in the lead for the No. 2 job behind starter Alfred Morris, reports the Washington Post.

The report says the order for the running backs behind Morris are in this order: Helu, Evan Royster, Keiland Williams, Tristan Davis, Chris Thompson, Jawan Jamison. Morris is the unquestioned starter, and the rest are all battling for that backup/third-down back role.

(8/31/2012) The Redskins continued trimming their roster Friday in preparation for the regular season and released the following players: quarterback Jonathan Crompton; running back Tristan Davis; defensive back Travon Bellamy; defensive linemen Doug Worthington and Delvin Johnson; linebacker Bryan Kehl; and wide receiver Terrence Austin. It was the second time Crompton was released this week after re-signing with the team Wednesday.
