Oakland begins raiding roster

News: The Oakland Raiders made their first round of cuts Monday and released the following players: linebacker Korey Bosworth; defensive lineman Mason Brodine; defensive back Aaron Henry; defensive lineman Wayne Dorsey; defensive back Chaz Powell; defensive back Terrail Lambert; wide receiver Thomas Mayo; wide receiver Dre Muhammad; quarterback Kyle Newhall-Caballero; running back Manase Tonga; and running back Rashawn Jackson.

Analysis: None of these players were expected to make a Fantasy impact this season and should be left off all rosters at this point.

	Tonga has two catches News: Raiders RB Manase Tonga had two catches for 12 yards Saturday at Kansas City in Week 16. He had two targets in the game. Analysis: Tonga is a low-end Fantasy RB in the majority of leagues. Ignore him in all formats in Week 17 against San Diego.

Tonga added to roster

News: According to the Sacramento Bee, the Raiders have placed LB Ricky Brown on injured reserve because of a concussion. FB Manase Tonga was promoted to the active roster to take Brown's spot.

Analysis: Tonga will be primarily a special teamer and blocker for Darren McFadden and Michael Bush, so his Fantasy value is extremely low. Owners can leave Tonga on the wire.

Edwards among players cut

News: The Raiders made the necessary cuts to get down the the required 53 players on Saturday. Among the released were QB Trent Edwards, WR Shaun Bodiford, S Matt Giordano, CB Lito Sheppard, LB Sam Williams, WR Shawn Bayes, CB Jeremy Ware, TE Kevin Brock, DE Mason Brodine, DB Stevie Brown, DT Jamie Cumbie, LB Chris Francis, LB Bani Gbadyu, DT Derrick Hill, DE Tommie Hill, WR Chad Jackson, LB J Leman, CB Walter McFadden, WR Eddie McGee, CB Sterling Moore, RB Louis Rankin and FB Manase Tonga.

Analysis: Edwards was a mild surprise, but the team had to get rid of one signal-caller with Terrelle Pryor on board. Otherwise, all the moves were minor in nature. Neither of the players were expected to make a big Fantasy impact in 2011, so ignore them in all formats.

Raiders construct P-squad

News: Coach Tom Cable announced the signing of seven players to the practice squad Sunday: S Stevie Brown, WR Shaun Bodiford, DT Kellen Heard, LB Slade Norris, CB Joe Porter, OL Alex Parsons and FB Manase Tonga. The Raiders have one spot left to fill.

Analysis: None of these players are expected to be regular stat contributors for the Raiders this season. They can be kept off rosters in Fantasy play.

News: To reach the NFL mandated 53-man roster limit, the Raiders released WR Shaun Bodiford, S Jerome Boyd, QB Colt Brennan, DL Chris Cooper, DE Alex Daniels, DE Greyson Gunheim, DT Kellen Heard, DT William Joseph, FB Luke Lawton, LB David Nixon, LB Slade Norris, TE John Owens, CB Joe Porter, DE Jay Richardson, CB Joey Thomas, FB Manase Tonga and WR Todd Watkins.

Analysis: None of these players were or are expected to be regular stat contributors in the first place. Keep them off of Fantasy rosters.
