News: Seahawks kicker Ryan Longwell managed four extra points during a 30-28 Divisional Playoff loss Sunday at Atlanta. He attempted no field goals.
Analysis: Longwell was signed during the week after Seattle placed regular kicker Steven Hauschka on injured reserve with a calf injury. Longwell will probably have to find work again in 2013, so don't plan on drafting him in Fantasy at this time.
News: The Seahawks have placed kicker Steven Hauschka on injured reserve and signed kicker Ryan Longwell, the team announced Wednesday. Hauschka converted 24 of 27 field goals and 46 of 48 extra points this season and set the postseason franchise-mark with three field goals made in the NFC Wild Card game at Washington while kicking with an injured calf. Longwell last kicked with the Vikings in 2011. He did not play in the NFL this season.
Analysis: If available, Longwell can be considered an option in Playoff Challenge leagues. Seattle plays at Atlanta in the Division round, and Longwell could play at a high level like Hauschka did against the Redskins.
News: The Seahawks have signed veteran placekicker Ryan Longwell Wednesday after working out with the team Tuesday, according to ESPN.com. The Seahawks may be without the Steven Hauschka Sunday against the Falcons, after suffering a calf injury last week at Washington.
Analysis: It seems as if the Seahawks were convinced by Longwell's tryout. The 38-year-old has not played this season after being released by the Vikings in May. At this point, it is uncertain who will take the kicking duties during Seattle's playoff game against at Atlanta, so we'll keep an eye on that moving forward. Last week, the Seahawks used Hauschka for field goal duties and punter Jon Ryan for kickoffs. If he earns the spot start, then he'll gain marginal value in all Playoff Challenge formats.
News: The Vikings have released veteran placekicker Ryan Longwell, who had three years remaining on his contract. The 37-year-old veteran of 15 seasons, including six with the Vikings, saw his job become tenuous when the team selected Georgia kicker Blair Walsh in the sixth round, and even more so when coach Leslie Frazier said last week keeping two kickers was "not in the thinking right now."
Analysis: Walsh is considered a reliable mid-range kicker who is not afraid to tee it up from 60-plus yards. But he hit 21 of 35 field goal attempts (60 pct.) in 2011 while setting an NCAA record with at least one field goal in 45 games in his career. It's tough to take a shot on Walsh knowing he hit just 60 percent of his kicks in school, and even tougher knowing that the Vikings' offense isn't expected to put him in position to kick a ton of field goals. We wouldn't take Walsh with a pick in Fantasy and wouldn't obviously take Longwell until he lands somewhere (if he lands somewhere).
News: The Vikings picked Georgia placekicker Blair Walsh with a sixth-round pick, and he's expected to battle Ryan Longwell for the starting job in camp.
Analysis: Longwell made more field goals in 2011 than in 2010 but connected on fewer kicks overall, converting just 78.6 of his attempts. The Vikings offense is expected to be about as good as it was toward the end of last year, which means whoever wins the kicking battle between Longwell and Walsh will have some opportunities to boot field goals, but not as many as other kickers around the league. We wouldn't draft either kicker.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell kicked two field goals for the second straight game Week 17 against the Bears, connecting on a 26-yarder in the first quarter and another 26-yarder in the second quarter. He also had an extra point. He did, however, have a 48-yard field goal attempt blocked by DL Julius Peppers in the second quarter.
Analysis: Longwell finished the season about as well as he could have considering the state of the Vikings offense, which was led by rookie QB Christian Ponder and was without star RB Adrian Peterson. He's still a good enough kicker to serve as a No. 1 Fantasy option, but he'll need a better supporting cast to get drafted as such in 2012.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell recorded nine points in the Week 16 win at Washington on Saturday. Longwell missed a FG in the game, but made good on two to finish 2 for 3 with a long of 36 yards. Longwell went 3 for 4 on PATs to finish with his nine points. Clearly, had it not been for the missed PAT and field goal, Longwell could have performed even better in the Week 16 victory.
Analysis: Longwell missed his first field goal since since Week 10 at Green Bay, though he missed a PAT as well on Saturday. The bad news is that he's only hit seven field goals and all of those came in just three games since. The Vikings don't score a whole lot of points and that translates into limited Fantasy production for Longwell. He has only scored in double figures in Fantasy production twice since Week 6 of the season, the last time he faced his Week 17 opponents, the Bears. Longwell went 1 for 2 against the Bears Week 6 and finished with four points. Longwell is more of a No. 2 Fantasy K for Week 17.
News: Minnesota K Ryan Longwell connected on two field goals and a pair of extra points during the Vikings' 42-20 loss to New Orleans in Week 15. Longwell converted field-goal attempts of 44 yards and 49 yards -- the second time this year he's booted two kicks of 40-plus yards.
Analysis: Longwell's production has been severely limited by Minnesota's poor offense this season as he had been held without a field-goal attempt in three of his previous four games entering Sunday. Consider him a low-end option against Washington in Week 16.
News: For third time over the last four games, Vikings K Ryan Longwell did not have any field goal attempts, as he had little to do in a Week 14 loss to the Lions. Longwell did convert all four of his extra-point attempts.
Analysis: It's just as well that Longwell isn't getting chances to kick field goals, as he has made just 16 of the 20 attempts that he has been provided this season. Between the questionable accuracy and the lack of scoring opportunities, owners should avoid Longwell outside of deeper leagues.
News: Minnesota K Ryan Longwell booted three field goals and three extra points during the Vikings' 35-32 loss to Denver in Week 13. Longwell connected on kicks of 40, 25 and 39 yards as he finished with three field goals for the first time since Week 3 against Detroit.
Analysis: Longwell halted a two-game stretch in which he did not attempt a field goal as he topped double digits in Fantasy points for only the third time this year. He remains a shaky option because of Minnesota's unreliable offense and should be viewed as a low-end kicker in Week 14 at Detroit.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell went without a field goal for the third straight game Week 12 at Atlanta, finishing with two extra points. He has attempted only one field goal during the three-game drought.
Analysis: Longwell had at least one field goal in each of the Vikings' first eight games, but clearly the offense isn't doing much for him right now. That doesn't figure to change this year with rookie QB Christian Ponder still learning the ropes. Longwell remains just a low-end Fantasy option for Week 13 against the Broncos.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell, who had just one point Week 10 at Green Bay, again went without a field goal Week 11 against the Raiders. He had three extra points, giving him a combined 10 points over his last three games. Longwell did line up for a field goal in the second quarter, but holder Chris Kluwe picked up the ball when it was clear the attempt would have been blocked.
Analysis: Longwell has scored in double digits twice this season, but his production is inconsistent with a rookie quarterback leading the Vikings offense. He's no more than a No. 2 Fantasy K.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell missed his long field-goal attempt in Week 10 against the Packers. Longwell was short on a 52-yarder kicked into the wind in the first quarter. He did make his lone extra-point attempt, but finished with just one point in the 45-7 defeat.
Analysis: Longwell had made 10 straight attempts from 50-yards or more prior to his miss on Monday night, although he is still 13 for 17 on the season. However, the Vikings are really struggling to put points on the board right now, which is limiting his chances. Consider Longwell a low-end Fantasy option heading into Week 11 against the Raiders.
News:Ryan Longwell's Week 8 got off to a poor start, as he missed a 45-yard field goal attempt within the first two minutes of the game against the Panthers. However, Longwell went from goat to hero, when he converted a 31-yard attempt in the fourth quarter, which proved to be the game-winning score in a 24-21 contest. Longwell also converted all three of his extra point attempts.
Analysis: Longwell is reasonably accurate, but the Vikings are not among the league's highest-scoring teams. He is merely a low-end kicking option in Fantasy, and he needs to be avoided during the Vikings' bye in Week 9.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell had a productive outing in Week 7 against the Packers. He made both of his field goal attempts and converted three extra points in the 33-27 loss. He made his field goals from 46 and 52 yards.
Analysis: Longwell has now made both of his attempts from 50-plus yards this season and is 12 for 14 overall in field goals. The Vikings might be able to put up more points with QB Christian Ponder at the helm, which would only help Longwell's Fantasy value going forward. Heading into Week 8 against the Panthers, continue to view the 37-year-old as a low-end Fantasy K.
News: Minnesota K Ryan Longwell led the NFL in field goal percentage last season. Hes one of the most accurate kickers in league history. So its always strange to see Longwell miss, which happened to the Vikings in each of the past two games. Neither kick had an impact on the outcome, but watching the ball sail wide of the goal post is never a pleasant sight for the 15-year veteran. Its no fun, Longwell said this week as Minnesota prepares for an NFC North showdown with Green Bay in Week 7.
Analysis: Longwell has accounted for more points than any other player during his 15 years in the league, and his field goal percentage since 2009 is second only to Houston's Neil Rackers. Given the career and the success hes had in the NFL, you dont panic, special teams coordinator Mike Priefer said. You just try to figure out what you think might have gone wrong, and then you go from there. The Vikings appear to be content letting Longwell work past his struggles, but he won't get many scoring opportunities with Minnesota's poor offense. Consider him a low-end option for Week 7.
News: Minnesota kicker Ryan Longwell hit his only extra-point attempt on Sunday against Chicago, but would go 1-for-2 in field goal tries. He nailed a 37-yarder, but missed from 38 yards in Week 6. The Vikings would lose the game, 39-10.
Analysis: Longwell and the Vikings struggled in Week 6 and heading into Week 7 the task doesn't get any easier. Minnesota hosts Green Bay next Sunday, a team that has a high-powered offense. The Vikings will have trouble keeping up, but Longwell may get some chances to kick some field goals. At this time, Longwell is merely a low-end kicking option, best left as a bye-week replacement.
News: Minnesota K Ryan Longwell helped the team earn its first win of the season on Sunday of Week 5 against Arizona. Longwell did miss a field goal in the game, but he connected from 53 yards out as well. Longwell went 2 for 3 on field goals and added four extra points for a total of 10 points scored on the game.
Analysis: The problem for Longwell this season has been kicking for a team that has been unable to put up a whole lot of offense. Longwell does have two games in double digits in scoring and his missed field goal Week 5 was his first of the year for the Vikings. That said, heading into Week 6 at Chicago, we're not sure the Vikings will be able to put up a whole lot of points. If Longwell has been your Fantasy starter week in and week out, there is no reason to sit him for the Week 6 game.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell had a quiet day in his Week 4 game against the Chiefs. Longwell didn't get many opportunities, but he was perfect in the 22-17 loss. He converted his only field goal attempt, which was for 33 yards, and he also was good on both of his extra point attempts.
Analysis: Longwell has been a decent low-end option in Fantasy this year, though his offense blew an opportunity to give him some work against a struggling Chiefs defense. The Vikings will face the Cardinals in Week 5, and that provides Longwell with another good chance at racking up some points.
News: Minnesota K Ryan Longwell had a solid afternoon in the Week 3 overtime loss to the Lions. Longwell connected for three field goals with a long of 49 yards as he went 3 for 3 in the game. He added two extra points and finished with 11 points total on the Week 3 game Sunday.
Analysis: The Vikings showed the ability to move the ball on Sunday of Week 3, but seemed to get stopped deep in the other team's territory plenty. This offense has its issues, but that could mean solid games for Longwell week in and week out. Longwell continued to show he's one of the more consistent kickers in the NFL in the Week 3 game, and the Vikings should have little trouble scoring points in Week 4 at Kansas City. Against the Chiefs, Longwell can be starting in all Fantasy leagues.
News: Minnesota K Ryan Longwell did all he was asked to do Week 2 against the Buccaneers. He made good on both of the extra points he tried on the afternoon and he made a pair of field goals (from 22, 29 yards out) on the way to scoring eight points in the loss.
Analysis: Longwell has been solid for a long time, and he has looked as much in 2011 thus far. Fantasy owners should not worry about his production going forward, especially with the offense showing early life on Sunday. Longwell is good enough to be considered a low-end option across the board.
News: Minnesota K Ryan Longwell converted his lone field-goal attempt and a pair of extra points during the Vikings' 24-17 loss to San Diego in Week 1. Longwell registered all of his points in the first half and connected on a 33-yard field goal in the second quarter.
Analysis: Longwell has been one of the most accurate kickers in the NFL but he's unlikely to line up for many chances this season. The 37-year-old was just 17 for 18 in field-goal attempts last season and notched his fewest extra points since 2006. Consider him a low-end option in Week 2.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell was able to reach an agreement with the Vikings on Wednesday. The Star Tribune reports that the four-year deal is worth a reported $12 million, with $3.5 million guaranteed. Longwell's accuracy has improved in each of the last two seasons.
Analysis: Longwell expressed publicly that he "wouldn't mind going back" to the Vikings, and that's exactly what happened. He has been one of the more reliable K options in the NFL over the last two seasons, with 43 made kicks in 46 attempts over the past two seasons. Even at age 37, Longwell remains one of the top legs in all of football, and we see him as a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 Fantasy option. He should either be drafted with a final-round pick in all leagues or used as a bye-week replacement during the season.
News: According to ESPN.com, kicker Ryan Longwell will be a free agent once the lockout ends, but he might not return to the Vikings. Longwell said during a radio interview that he intends to play in 2011 and said he "wouldn't mind going back" to the Vikings. Asked if he would consider returning to Green Bay if Packers place-kicker Mason Crosby moves on in free agency, Longwell laughed and said: "You never say never. You just don't know." Perhaps the Vikings will pursue Longwell once free agency begins. But it will be hard to replace him since he's made 43 of 46 attempts over the past two seasons. "I still feel like I'm very strong and very accurate," Longwell said. "And I still feel like I'm a definite asset in the locker room after what we've been through in Minnesota the last few years."
Analysis: Keep an eye on where Longwell ends up, but we expect him to return to Minnesota. He should be considered a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 Fantasy option, and he should either be drafted with a final-round pick in all leagues or used as a bye-week replacement during the season.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell kicked a pair of field goals and one extra point in Week 17 against the Lions. Longwell made both of his field goals in the fourth quarter. He hit from 27 and 48 yards. It was his first multi field-goal game since Week 10.
Analysis: Longwell attempted more than one field goal just three times in 2010. That was definitely an indication of how inconsistent the Vikings offense was this season. Longwell is usually one of the most reliable Fantasy kickers available and he could get back to that level in 2011, if the Vikings make the right moves in the offseason to improve their offense. Longwell will probably be a viable Fantasy option heading into next season.
News: Minnesota K Ryan Longwell hit a 30-yard field goal in the Week 16 Tuesday night win in Philadelphia. Longwell finished with six points on the night as he went 3 for 3 on extra points for the Vikings in the win over the Eagles.
Analysis: The Vikings offense has struggled all year and Longwell doesn't have a single double-digit scoring performance to his credit. Under quarterback Joe Webb the offense has only gotten worse. That means Fantasy owners should continue avoiding Longwell in Fantasy play heading into the regular-season finale Week 17 at Detroit.
News: The NFL postponed the Week 16 contest between the Eagles and Vikings due to a blizzard in the Philadelphia area. As a result, the game will be played on Tuesday night at 8 p.m. ET.
Analysis: Longwell looked like a must-sit given blizzard conditions in Philly, but his Fantasy appeal gets new life with this development. Unfortunately, has not racked up more than nine points in in any game this season and may be playing for a team with a variety of injuries on the offensive side of things. Longwell remains a poor Fantasy option.
News: Blizzard-like conditions are expected for Philadelphia Sunday night, which could impact kicking conditions for Eagles K David Akers and Vikings K Ryan Longwell. WInds are expected about 20 m.p.h. with heavy snow fall.
Analysis: Longwell has not racked up more than nine points in in any game this season and conditions don't bode well for him to end that streak in Week 16. If he was a low-end kicker coming in, he should likely be considered a must-sit given this development.
News: Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell did not attempt a field goal for just the second time this season in Week 15 against the Bears. He did make both of his PATs and finished with two points in the 40-14 loss.
Analysis: Longwell has not racked up more than nine points in in any game this season and that streak continued to Monday night. Minnesota has been hit hard by injuries on the offensive side of the ball, which has limited Longwell's opportunities. While he is 14 of 15 in field goal attempts this season, Longwell is simply not scoring enough to be considered a viable option in most leagues. Consider him a low-end Fantasy K in Week 16 against the Eagles.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell supplied the only scoring for his team in Week 14 against the Giants. He connected on a 21-yard field goal in the first quarter of the 21-3 loss.
Analysis: Longwell has not ranked up more than nine points in any game this season and has seen his Fantasy value fall as the Vikings offense has struggled. He is 14 for 15 in field goal attempts, along with going 24 for 25 in PATs, but he is simply not scoring enough to be considered a viable option in most leagues. Leave Longwell for only the deepest of Fantasy formats heading into Week 15 against the Bears.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell had just one field goal attempt in a 38-14 win over Buffalo in Week 13. He converted the 38-yarder and also made all five of his extra-point attempts.
Analysis: Once again, Longwell failed to reach double-digits in scoring, just as he has in every game this season. The Vikings beat up on a porous Bills defense in Week 13, but they probably won't keep Longwell as busy against the Giants in Week 14. Longwell can be avoided in standard league formats.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell nailed the only field goal he attempted during the Week 12 win at Washington. Longwell made good from 31 yards out with 52 seconds remaining in the third quarter. The FG gave the Vikings a 17-7 lead at the time. Longwell added two extra points and finished with five points in the win.
Analysis: Longwell has not had a single double-digit scoring game this season. He doesn't figure to improve much going forward, either, with the offense the Vikings have been displaying. He could see a slight boost in Week 13 against Buffalo, but Longwell is still a player that can be avoided in all Fantasy leagues.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell kicked a 24-yard field goal that provided the only points for Minnesota in a Week 11 loss to the Packers.
Analysis: The Vikings are a disaster at the moment, and Longwell's Fantasy value is likely to continue to be low unless the matchup is very favorable. In Week 12, Minnesota has a decent matchup at Washington, but there are better options out there, so continue to ignore Longwell if you can in Fantasy play.
News: In the Vikings' Week 10 loss at the Bears, kicker Ryan Longwell connected on two of three field goals (36, 33 yards) but hit the left upright on a missed wide left on a 39-miss. He also hit an extra point.
Analysis: You'd expect better from Longwell, but the reality is that he's been a pretty big disappointment most weeks as part of the Vikings. Consider other options before going with Longwell in Week 11 -- remember, the difference between a win and a loss in Fantasy could be determined by the kicker you choose. Go with one that plays in a powerful offense, which the Vikings haven't been for much of the year.
News: K Ryan Longwell made both of his field goal attempts in the Vikings' 27-24 overtime win over the Cardinals in Week 9. He converted a 21-yarder in the second quarter, and his 35-yarder in overtime sealed the win. Longwell also made all three of his extra point attempts.
Analysis: Longwell has been accurate this year, going 8 for 8 in field goal attempts, but he his not getting enough chances to score to be productive in Fantasy. Until he starts kicking more field goals, he is merely a low-end option.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell made the only field goal attempt he had in Week 8 against the Patriots. Longwell connected from 24-yards in the first quarter to give Minnesota an early 10-7 lead. He also made his only PAT attempt and finished with four points.
Analysis: Longwell is now 6 for 6 in field goals this season, but is not getting the same number of chances he did last season. The Vikings have struggled to score this season, which has limited his opportunities. He still has a very strong leg, but needs to start scoring more to return to the rightful place among the top Fantasy Ks in the league. Consider him just a low-end Fantasy K heading into Week 9 against the Cardinals.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell made the only attempt he had in the Week 7 loss to the Packers. He nailed a 28-yarder in the second quarter. Longwell added three extra points.
Analysis: Longwell is a perfect 5 for 5 on field goals this season, but is not getting the same number of opportunities he did last season. The Vikings scoring is down this season and turnovers have led to missed opportunities for the 14th-year kicker out of Cal. Hopefully Minnesota will pick up their offense soon and return Longwell to his rightful place among the top Fantasy Ks in the league. Consider him a viable option in most leagues heading into Week 8 at New England.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell made his only field goal attempt in Week 6 against the Cowboys. With the score tied at 21, Longwell nailed a 38-yarder to put Minnesota on top for good. He also made all three of his extra point attempts.
Analysis: Longwell is a perfect 4 for 4 on field goals this season, but is not getting the same number of opportunities he did last season. The Vikings scoring is down this season and turnovers have led to missed opportunities for the 14th-year kicker out of Cal. Hopefully Minnesota will pick up their offense soon and return Longwell to his rightful place among the top Fantasy Ks in the league. Consider him a viable option in most leagues heading into Week 7 at Green Bay.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell did not receive too many opportunities in Week 5 against the Jets. He did not attempt a field goal and made just two extra points in the 29-20 loss. Minnesota scored three touchdowns on the night but elected to go for the two-point conversion on one of them.
Analysis: Longwell has only made three field goals through the first four games this season and has not been utilized like he was a season ago. The Vikings scoring is down this season and turnovers have led to missed opportunities for the 14th-year kicker out of Cal. Hopefully Minnesota will pick up their offense soon and return Longwell to his rightful place among the top Fantasy Ks in the league. Continue to view the 35-year-old as a viable option in most leagues for Week 6 against the Cowboys.
News: Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell converted a field goal and three extra points in Week 3 against the Lions. He finished with six points, a season-high for him after three games.
Analysis: Longwell, who is one of the most widely-started kickers in Fantasy, has been disappointing in first three weeks as his team's offense has struggled. The Vikings were held to 19 points combined in the first two weeks of the season before scoring a season-high 24 points in Week 3. They'll have a bye week to regroup in Week 4 before heading to play the Jets in what could be a hard-fought defensive battle. That could also result in a field-goal fest, however.
News: Vikings PK Ryan Longwell made a 28-yard field goal and an extra point in the team's Week 2 loss vs. Miami.
Analysis: Longwell was drafted with the intention of being a decent source of Fantasy production, but so far this season he's gone the way of Brett Favre, which is to say he's not impressive. Give him one more week when he takes on the Lions at home. Expect him to take on more opportunities there and be useful. If he fails you, scan waivers for a replacement.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell has the unthinkable happen to him in Week 1 against the Saints -- he had an extra point blocked. After Visanthe Shiancoe put Minnesota up 9-7 in the second quarter with a 20-yard touchdown, Longwell came on to extend the lead to three points. Unfortunately, the Saints penetrated the offensive line and blocked Longwell's attempt. Longwell did save face by booting a 41-yard field goal.
Analysis: The Vikings and Saints put up 59 points in last season's NFC title game. On Thursday, the two teams combined for 23 points. At least Longwell had a better day than opposing kicker Garrett Hartley, who missed two field goals. Longwell has been a top Fantasy kicker for years and should post favorable stat lines more often than not. Keep him active heading into Week 2 against the Dolphins.
News: Minnesota kicker Ryan Longwell booted a 40-yard field goal in Sunday's preseason loss to San Francisco. He connected on 26 0f his 28 field goal attempts in 2009.
Analysis: Longwell connected on 8 of 9 on field goals between 40 and 49 yards in 2009. With Brett Favre back behind center, Minnesota could put up some more stellar offensive numbers this year, giving Longwell plenty of field goal and extra point attempts. The veteran should be considered a high-end Fantasy kicker on Draft Day.
News: Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell converted three field goals and five extra points in Week 17 against the Giants. He finished the game with 14 points. It was his second highest scoring output of the season, coming in a 44-7 win over the Giants.
Analysis: Longwell could have had two more points if the Vikings didn't decide to go for it on fourth down with the score well in hand. Longwell kicks for one of the better offensive teams in the NFL and as long as Brett Favre remains the quarterback in Minnesota that should remain the case. Longwell will be a high-end Fantasy kicker going into the upcoming season.
News: Minnesota K Ryan Longwell connected from 41 yards out on a field goal in the 4th quarter of Monday night's Week 16 loss in overtime to the Bears. Longwell finished with six points in the game as he went 3 of 4 on PATs. One his extra points was blocked in the 3rd quarter after an Adrian Peterson TD run.
Analysis: Longwell has almost not been needed the past two weeks as the Vikings were struggling to put up points until the second half off the Monday night game. Hes been one of the best Fantasy kickers in the league this season, however, and should remain a No. 1 Fantasy option as the Vikings look to rebound in the season finale in Week 17 against the Giants.
News: Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell missed his only field goal attempt Sunday at Carolina and was held to one extra point.
Analysis: Longwell will look to rebound in Week 16 at Chicago. Consider him a No. 1 Fantasy kicker in all leagues.
News: In the Vikings' Week 14 win vs. the Bengals, kicker Ryan Longwell hit three field goals and three extra points.
Analysis: Longwell should remain a good Fantasy starter in Week 15 at the Panthers. Keep him active.
News: In the Vikings' Week 13 loss at the Cardinals, kicker Ryan Longwell hit a 25-yard field goal and made two extra points.
Analysis: Longwell is typically good for more stats than this; consider this a rough week since the Vikings' offense struggled mightily. He should bounce back in Week 14 against the Bengals.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell had 12 points -- his second-highest total of the season -- Week 12 against the Bears. He hit three field goals, including a long of 52 yards, and three extra points.
Analysis: The Vikings are one of the best teams in the NFL and have a consistently high-scoring offense that allows Longwell plenty of opportunities for points. He remains a must-start in Fantasy for Week 13 at Arizona.
News: Vikings PK Ryan Longwell hit five extra points in Week 11 vs. Seattle.
Analysis: Longwell is typically better for more Fantasy points than this. Continue to start him in Week 12 vs. the Bears.
News: Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell was perfect Sunday against the Lions. Longwell made two field goals and three extra points without missing a kick. His long field goal was 35 yards.
Analysis: Longwell continues to be a No. 1 Fantasy kicker in all leagues. Keep him active in Week 11 against Seattle and hope for more outings like this.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell kicked a 41-yard field goal and five extra points in a Week 8 win over the Packers.
Analysis: Longwell has been a top-five kicker this season, but you'll need to look elsewhere in Week 9 as the Vikings are on a bye.
News: Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell hit a field goal and two extra points at Pittsburgh in Week 7.
Analysis: Longwell should see more opportunities to score in Week 8 when the Packers host his Vikings. Start him as a low-end No. 1 kicker for that matchup.
News: Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell had four field goals and three extra points Sunday against Baltimore. His long field goal was 40 yards and he did not miss a kick.
Analysis: Longwell continues to be one the best kickers in the NFL and a No. 1 Fantasy option. Keep him active in all leagues in Week 7 at Pittsburgh.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell kicked a 47-yard field goal and five extra points in a Week 5 rout of the Rams.
Analysis: Longwell is taking full advantage of the solid Vikings offense this season, but Minnesota will get a nice test in Week 6 vs. Baltimore. Still, Longwell is a good enough Fantasy option to remain worth using in all formats.
News: Minnesota K Ryan Longwell didn't have to do much work on Monday night against the Packers in Week 4. Longwell did not attempt a single field goal as the Vikings passed all over the Packers and scored easily. He finished with four extra points for a total of four points on the night.
Analysis: Longwell is 6 of 7 on field goals on the season and the Vikings high-scoring offense has seen him hit 18 of 18 on PATs. He is very much a No. 1 Fantasy kicker and that will continue Week 5 at St. Louis. The Rams should make Longwell a must-start Week 5.
News: Vikings PK Ryan Longwell made 2 of 3 field goals (including a 52-yard try) and three extra points in Week 3 vs. the 49ers.
Analysis: Expect Longwell to keep it up in Week 4 when the Packers come to the Metrodome. Start him in all leagues.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell booted a pair of second-half field goals and made all three extra points during a 27-13 win over the Lions in Week 2. Longwell connected from 26 yards in the third quarter to tie the game at 10 and then hit from 46 yards in the fourth for a 10-point lead.
Analysis: Longwell has made all four of field-goal attempts in 2009 and already has 19 points in two games. Longwell is one of the more accurate kickers in the NFL and that bodes well for him since Minnesota can really move the ball. Longwell remains a No. 1 Fantasy kicker heading into Week 3 against the 49ers.
News: Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell converted two field goals and four extra points, finishing with 10 points in Week 1 at Cleveland.
Analysis: Longwell got off to a strong start to the season and remains one of the elite kickers in Fantasy. The Vikings offense is expected to be above average this year due to the addition of Brett Favre and that should lead to consistent scoring numbers from Longwell. In Week 2, he will kick in doors at Detroit against a team that allowed 45 points in Week 1.
News: Vikings PK Ryan Longwell will play at Cleveland in Week 1, a matchup that should be good for him. Out of the dome last year, Longwell made 10-of-12 field goals including a 50-plus yarder. With the Vikings expected to build a lead on the Browns on Sunday, he'll have the chance to be just as efficient.
Analysis: We like Longwell not just for Week 1, but for pretty much the entire season as the Vikings offense should be good enough to give him lots of opportunities to kick. Consider him a regular Fantasy kicker for the balance of the season, including at the Browns.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell didn't get an opportunity to kick a field goal in Sunday's Wild Card playoff game against the Eagles. He did, however, nail two extra points.
Analysis: Longwell didn't get as many field-goal opportunities at the end of the season, which might have had something to do with the Vikings switching from Gus Frerotte to Tarvaris Jackson at quarterback. The Vikings will need to improve their offense in the offseason before we can recommend Longwell as a No. 1 Fantasy kicker in 2009, but he has the potential to serve as one.
News: The Vikings needed a win to clinch their division and host a playoff game in Week 17 against a Giants squad that had nothing to play for. They got it, winning 20-19 and advancing into the postseason. Vikings PK Ryan Longwell nailed a 50-yard attempt to end the game and give the club their first division title since 2000. He finished with two field goals and two extra points.
Analysis: Longwell should be considered a low-end No. 1 Fantasy PK in playoff formats. As for 2009, consider him a low-end No. 1 option, especially if the Vikings improve their offense.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell, who had five extra points last week, again scored five points -- this time on a 29-yard field goal and two extra points -- Week 16 against the Falcons.
Analysis: Longwell had a streak of four straight games with multiple field goals before this recent two-game slump. He remains a decent kicker for Fantasy purposes, but not the most consistent you could find. Treat him as a low-end No. 1 option Week 17 against the Giants.
News: Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell converted five extra points in Week 15 at Arizona. He had his only field goal attempt of the game was blocked.
Analysis: Longwell had his least productive game since Nov. 2 against Houston, but he has now been held under 10 points in five of his last seven games. Fantasy owners can expect a closely contested game that could lead to a lot of field goals in Week 16 against Atlanta. He will be kicking in the friendly confines of the Metrodome, making him a useful option in most leagues.
News: Minnesota K Ryan Longwell connected on both his field goal tries in Week 14's 20-16 win over the Lions. Longwell connected from 35 yards out in the 2nd quarter and nailed a 50-yard attempt to end the game and put it away in the 4th.
Analysis: Longwell has at least two field goals in four straight games. Longwell continues to play well this year and should be started in Week 15 at Arizona.
News: Minnesota kicker Ryan Longwell had two field goals and four extra points Sunday against Chicago.
Analysis: Longwell continues to play well this year and should be started in Week 14 at Detroit.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell kicked field goals of 54, 32 and 22 yards in a Week 12 win at Jacksonville.
Analysis: Longwell didn't have a double-digit points performance in the last three weeks, so this performance was a little overdue. In Week 13, Longwell will be back at home and kicking against the Bears. He remains a nice low-end No. 1 Fantasy option.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell booted two field goals (43 and 37 yards) in a Week 11 loss to the Buccaneers.
Analysis: Longwell has been an inconsistent Fantasy option this year, but he could be a nice option in Week 12 if you're a matchups guy, as the Vikings play at Jacksonville.
News: Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell was 1-of-2 on field goals against his former team Sunday with a 54-yarder against Green Bay. Longwell also hit three extra points.
Analysis: The 54-yarder was nice, but it was too bad he missed the field goal. Still, consider him a No. 1 kicker in all leagues in Week 11 at Tampa Bay.
News: Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell converted four extra points in Week 9 against Houston. He did not attempt a field goal.
Analysis: Longwell has been up and down all season with three games in double figures and five games under 10 points. He continues to be worth a start in most Fantasy formats, especially during the bye weeks when he plays at home in the Metrodome like he does in Week 10 against his former team the Packers.
News: Minnesota K Ryan Longwell connected on two field goals in Week 7's loss to Chicago. Longwell was good on a 42-yarder in the 2nd quarter and later hit a 23-yard attempt. He was also 5-for-5 on extra points for a total of 11 points.
Analysis: Longwell has three weeks of greater than 10 points scored for the Vikings. He usually gets his fair share of kicking opportunities and playing in a dome, has that to his advantage. Fantasy owners should consider him a good start in most weeks but not in Week 8 because Minnesota has a bye.
News: Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell converted one of two field goals in Week 6 vs. Detroit. He also made an extra point and finished with four points.
Analysis: His 24-yard field goal in the final minute of the game ended up being the game winner for the Vikings, who pulled out a 12-10 win. There was not a lot of scoring on either side in this game, but Longwell usually gets a fair share of kicks in a game. He also kicks in a dome which helps. Fantasy owners should consider him a good start in any league for Week 7 at Chicago. That one could turn into a field goal shoot out.
News:Ryan Longwell's 30-yard field goal with 13 seconds left gave the Vikings the comeback win during Week 5's 30-27 victory against the Saints. Longwell's game-winning kick was set up by a pass interference call on a long throw to Bernard Berrian, who was run into before the ball came down despite being double-covered. Longwell kicked three field goals in the game -- also connecting from 33 and 53 yards -- and made three extra points.
Analysis: Longwell now has two or more field goals in four of five games this season and has at least two attempts in all five games. The Vikings are moving the ball and getting Longwell chances. He still remains a must-start Fantasy kicker heading into Week 6 against the Lions.
News: Vikings PK Ryan Longwell hit a 42-yard field goal, missed a 48-yard field goal and hit a pair of extra points at Tennessee in Week 4. This was his second missed field goal of the season.
Analysis: Longwell is usually better for more points than this. Consider him a worthy low-end start at the Saints in Week 5.
News: Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell, who had five field goals in Week 3 against the Colts, had two more in Week 4 against Carolina. Longwell made both field goal attempts and also had two extra points.
Analysis: Longwell had emerged as a No. 1 Fantasy option and should be started in all leagues in Week 4 at Tennessee. Longwell could struggle going outdoors against the Titans, but he's playing well right now and should be kept active.
News: Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell had five field goals Sunday against the Colts with a long of 53. Longwell was 5-of-6 for the day but had no extra points.
Analysis: These are the type of games we expect from Longwell at home. He might not hit five field goals every game, but he should be productive in the dome. Consider Longwell a starting Fantasy option in Week 3 against Carolina.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell hit a pair of field goals and converted his lone extra point attempt in a 24-19 loss to the Packers Week 1. Longwell opened the scoring with a 37-yard field goal in the second quarter and added a 27-yard field goal in the third quarter.
Analysis: Longwell, who began his career in Green Bay, has been one of the NFL's best kickers for 12 years. The Vikings always seem to give him a fair amount of scoring chances and Longwell could break 100 points in 2008. He is considered a low-end Fantasy kicker Week 2 against the Colts.
News: As part of a trio of ex-Packers currently residing on Minnesota's roster, Ryan Longwell -- along with Robert Ferguson and Darren Sharper -- has heard plenty of questions lately about Brett Favre. So Longwell was delighted on a sunny Saturday to talk a little bit about kicking. That is, after all, what he does for a living. Since he signed with the Vikings in 2006, most media attention Longwell has received has been related to Green Bay. That's actually a testament to Longwell's success. He has been remarkably accurate in two years with the Vikings, making all 30 of his field-goal attempts from 45 yards or shorter. He made a couple of game-winners in 2006 and another in 2007, a career-long 55-yarder to beat Chicago, but beyond that his contributions have largely been unnoticed. "Our goal is to stay under the radar," Longwell said, including long snapper Cullen Loeffler and holder Chris Kluwe in his analysis. "If it's a spotlight thing, you want it to be for a game-winner or something like that. You don't want it to be for a mistake you make."
Analysis: One part of Longwell's game that has been substandard in the past is kickoffs. He changed his offseason strength and conditioning routine before last season and came back stronger. Longwell said he reaped the rewards from that in November and December; before, he had felt his leg fade down the stretch. "I had power, which I hadn't had in previous years," Longwell said. Longwell has 1,243 points over 11 seasons. That's the fourth-highest total in the league during the span, behind Jason Elam, Adam Vinatieri and Matt Stover, but he has never made a Pro Bowl. Longwell hit 20-of-24 field goals and 39-of-40 extra points in 2007. However, he only hit one field goal from 50-plus yards in four tries. Consider Longwell a low-end Fantasy kicker heading into 2008.
News: Vikings PK Ryan Longwell hit 20-of-24 field goals and 39-of-40 extra points in 2007. However, he only hit one field goal from 50-plus yards in four tries.
Analysis: Longwell's cap number practically doubles in 2008, but he is still expected to kick for the Vikings next season. He's at best a low-end Fantasy kicker next season.
News: Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell's only kick in Week 17's 22-19 overtime loss to the Broncos was a 22-yard field goal.
Analysis: Longwell made only 19 field goals this season, which averages out to a little over one a game. He has the advantage of kicking indoors for eight games, but the fact he's part of a very below average offense in Minnesota means he won't be drafted in 2008 Fantasy leagues.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell missed his only field goal attempt Week 16 against the Redskins. He hooked a 53-yard field goal wide left in the second quarter, but did manage to make all three of his extra points.
Analysis: Longwell has missed four field goals this season and has failed to kick one in five games this season. He is no longer a reliable Fantasy kicker and is merely a low-end option heading into Week 17 against the Broncos.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell made both of his field-goal attempts Week 15 against the Bears, but he missed his lone extra-point attempt. His field goals went for 42 and 48 yards.
Analysis: The Vikings offense came back down to earth, and so did Longwell. He remains a low-end Fantasy option for Week 16 against the Redskins.
News: After being held without a field goal for the fourth time this season Week 13 against Detroit, Vikings K Ryan Longwell bounced back with two field goals against the 49ers Week 14. He connected from 48 yards in the first quarter and 46 yards in the second quarter. He also made three extra points.
Analysis: The Vikings have increased their point production during a four-game winning streak and that has resulted in 35 points from Longwell in that span. Consider him a low-end Fantasy option heading into Week 15 against the Bears.
News: Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell had no field goal attempts and six extra points Sunday against Detroit.
Analysis: Longwell is a great Fantasy option at home, but consider him a No. 2 Fantasy kicker on the road in Week 14 at San Francisco.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell converted two field goals and five extra points in Week 12 at the N.Y. Giants, finishing with 11 points in the game.
Analysis: Longwell got four of the 11 points due to defensive-related scores. The Vikings offense doesn't usually give him enough chances to score, but he could repeat a similar performance in Week 13 vs. Detroit. Consider him in leagues of 12-plus leagues.
News: Vikings PK Ryan Longwell nailed two field goals and three extra points vs. Oakland in Week 11.
Analysis: Longwell is not a recommended kicking option at the Giants in Week 12. Don't use him in Week 12 play.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell did not attempt a kick in Minnesota's 34-0 loss to the Packers in Week 10.
Analysis: Longwell is a very low-end Fantasy kicker and should only be starting at home against weak defenses. Interestingly, he is doing both in Week 11 and might be worth a flier against the sorry Raiders.
News: Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell made all five PATs and missed a 57-yard field goal in Minnesota's 35-17 win over the Chargers in Week 9.
Analysis: Longwell kicks in a dome half of the time, which is usually a plus, but the fact he is part of a team with one of the worst offenses in the league is a major negative on his Fantasy value. Consider him nothing more than a low-end bye-week replacement in Week 9.
News: Vikings PK Ryan Longwell totaled 10 points vs. Philadelphia in Week 8. He hit three field goals and an extra point.
Analysis: Longwell benefits from playing with Adrian Peterson and a run-first offense that often stalls short of the end zone. He's a low-end option vs. San Diego in Week 9.
News: Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell missed his only field goal and kicked two extra points Sunday against Dallas.
Analysis: Longwell will look to bounce back Week 8 against the Eagles. Consider him a No. 2 kicker.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell made a 55-yard game-winning field goal as time expired in Week 6 at Chicago. He made two field goals and four extra points to finish with 10 points.
Analysis: In leagues where you get bonuses for long field goals, Longwell had a great week for a kicker. In Week 7 at Dallas, he'll be back on turf and remains a great Fantasy option.
News: Vikings PK Ryan Longwell nailed three field goals and an extra point, totaling 10 of his team's 16 points vs. Green Bay in Week 4.
Analysis: Longwell and the Vikings are on bye in Week 5 but play at Chicago in Week 6. Consider Longwell again for that matchup.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell connected on a 22-yard field goal during a Week 3 loss to the Chiefs. It was his long field goal attempt of the afternoon. He also made on extra point.
Analysis: Longwell hasn't received many opportunties to put points on the board in 2007 because the Vikings offense is not an elite unit. Consider him a bye-week replacement in all Fantasy leagues. The Vikings host the Packers in Week 4.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell went 1-for-2 on field goals Week 2 at Detroit. He made a 32-yarder in the third quarter but missed a 52-yarder that would've one the game at the end of regulation. He also made two extra points.
Analysis: The Vikings don't have a great offense, so Longwell will rarely have a great a game. Consider him a bye-week replacement in all leagues and don't start him Week 3 at Kansas City.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell was 3-of-3 against the Lions last year and was 11-of-13 on field goals indoors in 2006. He started off this year 1-of-1 against Atlanta. The Lions allowed three field goal attempts in Week 1, although none were converted by Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski.
Analysis: The Vikings might not be an offensive juggernaut, but the Lions aren't particularly spectacular on defense either. Longwell is a decent bye-week replacement, especially if Adrian Peterson continues to tear it up.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell nailed a 49-yard field goal attempt in the third quarter of Minnesota's 24-3 win against the Falcons during Week 1.
Analysis: His kick gave the Vikings a modest 10-0 lead. He also connected on three extra points. Consider Longwell nothing more than a bye-week replacement, as the Vikings don't look to have a great offense this season. Don't play him Week 2 at Detroit.
News: Tiger Woods is a role model for golfers of all ages across the world. It turns out he's also an inspiration to NFL kickers. Minnesota Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell lives in the same Florida neighborhood as Woods, and the football player says he took a page from the golfer's relentless workout regimen to get ready for his 11th season in the NFL. "I would just kind of watch him and watch what he does and talk to him on the range a little bit," Longwell said after a practice at training camp. "This guy, on a Tuesday of a tournament week, he's out there running three, four, five miles. On a Tuesday! He says he gets up and works out, even on days that he has a round."
Analysis: In his first season in Minnesota after spending the first nine years of his career in Green Bay, Longwell was his usual reliable self on field goals. He made 21 of 25 tries and was perfect from inside 46 yards. Longwell also threw his first career touchdown pass on a fake field goal against Carolina. But as the season wore on, the 32-year-old started to wear down, and his kickoffs suffered. "Our percentage was great, but a couple of kicks and kickoff-wise, I thought I ran out of gas toward the end of the season," Longwell said. The Vikings offense lacks a solid quarterback and consistent wide receivers, which could mean fewer opportunities to be in field-goal range. Consider Longwell nothing more than a bye-week replacement pick in 2007.
News: Vikings PK Ryan Longwell told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that he intends to become better at kickoffs this season. He worked on his endurance and technique this offseason. "I think good things are going to happen this year with his kickoffs," special teams coordinator Paul Ferraro said. "At times last year he did a nice job, but he wasn't as consistent as we would have liked. But he's definitely done some good things here in the last two weeks."
Analysis: Longwell nailed 84 percent of his field goals in his first year with the Vikings. While that's about normal for him, the Vikings offense lacks a solid quarterback and consistent wide receivers, which could mean fewer opportunities to be in field-goal range. Consider Longwell nothing more than a bye-week replacement pick in 2007.
News: Vikings PK Ryan Longwell did well enough in his first season in Minnesota, making 21-of-25 field goals and 27-of-28 extra points in 2006. He did not make any field goals from beyond 50 yards.
Analysis: Longwell did not rank high among Fantasy placekickers, which will set the table for him to not be drafted in 2007. That will remain true unless the Vikings offense sees some significant upgrades this season that will result in more kicking opportunities for Longwell.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell attempted no field goals, but did convert on three extra points in a Week 17 loss to the Rams.
Analysis: Longwell will be viewed as a low-end Fantasy kicker heading into next season.

Analysis: Consider Longwell a low-end No. 1 kicker against Arizona.
News: Vikings K Ryan Longwell converted on one field goal and two extra point attempts in Week 10 vs. Green Bay, finishing with five points.
Analysis: Longwell didn't have a great game against his former mates, but he didn't have much of a chance. He'll look to bounce back in Week 11 at Miami.
News: When Ryan Longwell left Green Bay for Minnesota, a few of his old fans wrote him to share their frustration with the team's all-time leading scorer signing with a rival club. "They just weren't too happy about it," Longwell said, smiling. Little did they know he was about to become the Vikings' biggest offensive weapon. Though he has never been picked for the Pro Bowl and the Packers weren't going to bring him back, Longwell has been one of the few reliable parts of Minnesota's impotent offense. He will face his former team for the first time when they visit the Metrodome on Sunday. "It will be a special game, but we're both kind of in the same situation. We both need a win, so it's bigger than playing your ex-teammates," said Longwell, who spent eight seasons in Green Bay.
Analysis: Longwell has now kicked one field goal and one extra point in the last two games. His Fantasy value has taken a big hit in recent weeks, but perhaps he can rebound against his former team, the Packers, in Week 10. Longwell is a low-end No. 1 kicker.

News: Vikings PK Ryan Longwell made 3-of-4 field goals and an extra point, and also tossed a touchdown pass on a trick play vs. Carolina in Week 2.
Analysis: Longwell's touchdown pass was nice, but it probably won't happen again. But his field goal tries were encouraging, and it makes him a worthwhile option as a bye-week replacement for a regular kicker vs. Chicago in Week 3.
News: Ryan Longwell was successful on two field goal attempts (46, 31) and he tacked on an extra point in Week 1 at Washington in his regular season debut for the Minnesota Vikings.

News: Ryan Longwell got a $3 million signing bonus to leave Green Bay and join the Vikings to be their kicker this season. That gives the Vikings some stability at a position that continually seemed to have turnover under former coach Mike Tice. Longwell made 7-of-9 field goals this preseason.
Analysis: Longwell has a pretty good leg but isn't worth a start Week 1 at Washington. There are better options out there.
News: The Minnesota Vikings lured kicker Ryan Longwell away from their division rival, signing the former Green Bay Packer to a contract Saturday. Longwell has been the Packers' kicker since 1997, when he was a rookie on their second Super Bowl team. In 2000, Longwell totaled a career-best 131 points and went 33-for-38 on his field goals - including 20 makes from 40 yards and longer. In 2005, the nine-year veteran posted career lows in several categories, making only 74 percent of his field goals (20-for-27) and finished with 90 points. He went 6-for-10 between 30 and 39 yards and 3-for-5 between 40 and 49 yards.
Analysis: Longwell tailed off in 2005, putting some doubt in the Packers' minds about his abilities. If the Packers are changing quarterbacks this year, they'll want a more reliable kicker to clinch their field goals when the offense stalls. In Minnesota, Longwell will again be a nice option since he'll be kicking in a dome half the season.
News: The Boston Herald reports that the Packers have emerged as a potential suitor for PK Adam Vinatieri, based on reports out of the Combine. The Packers would let their current kicker, Ryan Longwell, walk this season as a free agent and take their chances on signing Vinatieri.
Analysis: Longwell tailed off in 2005, putting some doubt in the Packers' minds about his abilities. If the Packers are changing quarterbacks this year, they'll want a more reliable kicker to clinch their field goals when the offense stalls. Longwell could be kicking elsewhere in 2006.
News: Ryan Longwell converted 20-of-27 FGs and 96.8 percent of his extra points this season as the No. 1 kicker in Green Bay. It was his worst statistical season since 2001.
Analysis: Longwell should bounce back in 2006, but he's still no better than a late-round selection in leagues with 12-plus teams.
News: Packers PK Ryan Longwell was 1-of-3 kicking field goals with two XPs vs. Chicago in Week 16.
Analysis: The Packers host a Seattle team interested in keeping its starters healthy for the playoffs, not winning this battle. It may mean a game the Packers can compete in and win. Longwell could be a guy to skip over since he missed two kicks in Week 16.
