by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(9/18/2013) The 49ers DST came into the season highly regarded, but has been a major disappointment. San Francisco is tied for 28th with 14 Fantasy points through two games.

Still, the 49ers are at home Sunday for their best matchup of the young season. Start them against Indianapolis and expect their most productive performance yet. Two of three CBSSports.com experts peg the 49ers DST as a top-8 play this week.

49ers draft Reid

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(4/25/2013) A bone-jarring tackler who can sometimes be too aggressive, former LSU free safety Eric Reid was taken by the 49ers with the No. 18 overall pick in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday. The defending NFC champs traded the 31st and 74th overall picks to the Cowboys to move up and snag Reid, who could replace Dashon Goldson. CBSSports.com's Rob Rang said Reid “might be the explosive hitter from the safety position in the 2013 draft, closing with the speed and physicality of a linebacker rather than a defensive back.” But Rang said Reid's greatest strength is also his biggest weakness. “He plays with nonstop aggressiveness and intensity, but he doesn't always control that hostility in a smart way,” Rang said.
