William Gholston stepping up for Bucs late in the year

(12/16/2013) Rookie defensive end William Gholston is beginning to emerge defensively for the Buccaneers late in the season. Gholston totaled a career-high eight tackles (five solo) and two pass defenses during a 33-14 loss Week 15 vs. San Francisco.

Gholston has 15 tackles (eight solo), three pass defenses and 1 1/2 sacks in three December games after managing eight tackles (three solo), no sacks and no pass defenses in his first seven games.


Bucs clear seven players for Week 15

(12/15/2013) Buccaneers wide receiver Vincent Jackson (hamstring), defensive end Da'Quan Bowers (knee), linebacker Lavonte David (back), defensive end William Gholston (head), guard Davin Joseph (knee, shoulder), defensive tackle Akeem Spence (wrist) and center Jeremy Zuttah (shoulder) were all cleared to play Week 15. All seven players were listed as probable.

Five Buccaneers defenders probable for Week 15

(12/13/2013) The Buccaneers have five defenders on the injury report for Week 15 against the 49ers, but that doesn't mean they expect to be missing numerous players Sunday.

Linebacker Lavonte David (back) is joined by defensive linemen Da'Quan Bowers (knee), William Gholston (head), Gary Gibson (calf) and Akeem Spence (wrist) on the injury report. All five are officially probable for Sunday's game. 


Seven Buccaneers record a sack vs. Bills

(12/8/2013) The Buccaneers terrorized Bills quarterback EJ Manuel in Week 14, as they racked up seven sacks in a 27-6 win. Seven players took part in the sack party, with defensive end William Gholston standing as the only player to record more than one sack in the game.

Lavonte David, Gerald McCoy, Mark BarronDarrelle Revis and Derek Landri all took Manuel down once, while Da'Quan Bowers recorded a half sack in the win. 


Bucs have three healthy inactive players

(9/15/2013) Buccaneers guard Carl Nicks (foot) was ruled inactive for Sunday's Week 2 contest against the Saints.

In addition, cornerback Michael Adams (knee), tight end Tom Crabtree (ankle), cornerback Rashaan Melvin (hamstring) and fullback Erik Long (calf) did not dress for Sunday's game because of injuries. Quarterback Dan Orlovsky, defensive end William Gholston, defensive end Steven Means, running back Peyton Hillis and defensive tackle Chris Jones were healthy inactives.

Bucs lean defensively on Day 3

(5/15/2013) The Bucs' haul from Day 3 of the NFL draft included three defensive players and a running back. Illinois defensive tackle Akeem Spence, Michigan State defensive end William Gholston and Buffalo defensive end Steven Means made up the defenders while Miami running back Mike James was the lone offensive player taken on Day 3.
