Chad Hall a part of the game plan early

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(10/6/2013) The Chiefs tried to make use of fourth-year wide receiver Chad Hall right out the gate Week 5 at Tennessee, targeting him on each of quarterback Alex Smith's first four passes, one of which was erased by a penalty. The Chiefs targeted him once again in the first quarter, but that was it, even with Donnie Avery sitting out the second half with a shoulder injury. Hall finished with one catch for 9 yards.

Hall entered the game with only one target (and no catches) on the year. The Chiefs host the Raiders in Week 6.

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(9/15/2013) Linebacker Nico Johnson (ankle) and cornerback Dunta Robinson (personal) head the list of inactives released by the Chiefs for the game Sunday against Dallas.

Others on the list are healthy scratches, including quarterback Tyler Bray, wide receiver Chad Hall, center Eric Kush, linebacker Josh Martin and defensive lineman Jaye Howard.

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(8/31/2013) The 49ers finalized their 53-man roster Saturday by placing defensive tackle Demarcus Dobbs on the Reserve/Suspended List by the NFL.

In addition, the 49ers waived the following 21 players from the roster: tackle Carter Bykowski, wide receiver Austin Collie, cornerback Marcus Cooper, tight end MarQueis Gray, wide receiver Chad Hall, running back Jewel Hampton, wide receiver Lavelle Hawkins, linebacker Joe Holland, wide receiver Chuck Jacobs, tight end Brian Jennings, linebacker Travis Johnson, cornerback Darryl Morris, guard Patrick Omameh, wide receiver Kassim Osgood, defensive tackle Mike Purcell, safety Trenton Robinson, fullback Jason Schepler, safety Michael Thomas, guard Wayne Tribue, quarterback Seneca Wallace and tackle Kenny Wiggins.

Chad Hall gaining more time

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8/17/2013) 49ers wide receiver Chad Hall, who has reportedly impressed so far in training camp, got some work in with the first-team offense in Friday's preseason game against the Chiefs.

Hall was targeted by Colin Kaepernick on the team's first drive, as Kaepernick looked his way on third down, though Hall could not bring the reception in. Actually, the first three passes thrown to Hall fell incomplete, and he still managed to lead the team with 39 yards on two catches.

Hall appears to be working his way up the depth chart, but next week's game against Minnesota should be a better barometer of where he stands, as the first unit will likely see extensive playing time.

A.J. Jenkins has missed multiple practices

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(8/2/2013) 49ers second-year receiver A.J. Jenkins has missed multiple practices because of a hamstring injury, Comcast Sportsnet reports. The team is bringing in several free-agent receivers for workouts because of this and other injuries that have ravaged the unit.

The talk of camp in terms of receivers remains Chad Hall, who has done a nice job in practice so far.

49ers WR roundup: Hall impressing, Jenkins not

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(7/30/2013) The 49ers have a hole to fill opposite Anquan Boldin with Michael Crabtree expected to miss much of the regular season but no one's stepped up thus far in camp. Kyle Williams (hamstring) and Ricardo Lockette (hip) both are sidelined and Marlon Moore, Kassim Osgood and Quinton Patton (jammed finger) appear gimpy as well according to Comcast Sportsnet.

Second-year receiver and former first-round pick A.J. Jenkins hasn't ascended, per the report. He didn't have any receptions in team drills on Sunday and remains undistinguished.

If there's been a bright spot, it's been Chad Hall. Per the report, he's made the biggest impact of all the receivers and has even caught the eye of teammate Vernon Davis.

"I really like Chad," Davis said. "He's quick, he's fast, (and) he's doing everything that the coaches are asking him to do and he comes to work."

Anquan Boldin aside, 49ers WRs not stepping forward

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(7/29/2013) Michael Crabtree's torn Achilles tendon presented a huge opportunity for the 49ers' other wideouts. But except for Anquan Boldin, "none of the other receivers stepped forward in the first four practices," reports CSNBayArea.com. "In fact, the receiver position is currently weaker than it was when camp began."

Last year's first-round pick, A.J. Jenkins, "has not distinguished himself" in practice and made zero catches in Sunday's 11-on-11 drills. Kyle Williams is nursing a hamstring injury that kept him out Sunday. Rookie Quinton Patton is dealing with a jammed finger.

Only the undersized Chad Hall, promoted from the practice squad for last year's playoffs, has impressed.

"I really like Chad," tight end Vernon Davis said, according to the report. "He's quick, he's fast, (and) he's doing everything that the coaches are asking him to do and he comes to work."

Off Monday, the 49ers return to practice Tuesday.

Hall passes to San Francisco

by Bill Passonno | CBSSports.com
(1/19/2013) The 49ers promoted wide receiver Chad Hall from the practice squad Saturday, giving them added depth at the position for the NFC Championship showdown at Atlanta. Hall has spent most of the season on the practice squad after being released by Philadelphia in the preseason.
