With Kyle Van Noy, the Fantasy impact is high

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(5/13/2014) The Lions likely made a steal by taking BYU linebacker Kyle Van Noy . Immediately after taking him, coaches began talking about him as a three-down player -- music to the ears of propsective Fantasy owners. Not only was Van Noy a robust tackler in college, he also produced numbers against the pass, making him an all-around very good linebacker. He also was a teammate of Ziggy Ansah, who was drafted by the Lions last year.

This is a name to remember in 2014. We'd draft Van Noy with a middle-round pick in seasonal drafts and dynasty/keeper leagues as well as with a third-round pick in rookie-only drafts.

Lions draft linebacker Kyle Van Noy

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(5/9/2014) With the 40th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Lions selected BYU linebacker Kyle Van Noy .

Considered one of the best linebackers in the draft, the 6-foot-3, 243-pounder is a quick, smart, instinctive player who can cover a lot of ground and also be in position to stop a running back. He doesn't have a single elite skill, but as his 223 career total tackles, 26 sacks, seven interceptions, 11 forced fumbles and 21 passes defensed suggest, he's a very good all-around player. It wouldn't be a shock to see him start for the Lions.

Detroit acquired the pick from Seattle in a deal involving six draft selections.
