(11/28/2014) The Panthers unveiled its final injury report for Week 13 against Minnesota. Star Lotulelei (ankle) and Amini Silatolu (knee) were the only two players on the list labeled as questionable. Charles Johnson is battling flu-like symptoms and was ruled as questionable.

Meanwhile, the following four players were designated as probable for Sunday: Bene Benwikere (ankle), Philly Brown (illness), Andrew Norwell (thigh) and Mike Tolbert (knee).

Lotulelei suffered an ankle injury Week 10 and was inactive the following week. Norwell is dealing with a hamstring injury he aggravated Week 11.

Out of the 13 players listed on the report, Star Lotulelei (ankle) was the only player ruled out for Week 11. Bene Benwikere (ankle), Brandon Williams (foot) and Charles Johnson (rest) were labeled questionable.

MRI comes back negative clean for Panthers T Star Lotulelei

(11/13/2014) Panthers tackle Star Lotulelei has received some good news. The MRI on his right ankle, which was tweaked Monday night against Philadelphia, has come back negative.

The bad news is that Ron Rivera remains unsure if he'll be available for the Sunday game against visiting Atlana. The timetable instead could be after the bye week that follows.

"It's not a high ankle sprain, which is a good thing," Rivera told the team website. "...He's a big guy, and big guys tend to be a little big slower on ankle sprains."

(1/29/2014) The Panthers drafted defensive tackle Star Lotulelei 14th overall last April and got "everything they hoped for," according to the team's website. The 6-2, 315-pound rookie helped Carolina improve from 14th in run defense (110.1 yards allowed per game) to second in 2013 (86.9).

He started all 16 regular-season games, getting 47 tackles, three sacks and 11 quarterback pressures. In the playoff loss to San Francisco, Lotulelei made six tackles, one for loss.


Panthers defenders shine in shutout win Week 3

(9/23/2013) The Panthers tied a franchise record with seven sacks during a 38-0 win Week 3 vs. N.Y. Giants. Greg Hardy led the charge with three sacks, but Thomas Davis, Charles Johnson, Kawann Short and Star Lotulelei each had one.

Davis finished with five tackles (two solo), Johnson had four tackles (two solo) and three quarterback hits, Short had four tackles (two solo) and Lotulelei had two tackles (one solo).

Robert Lester and Melvin White each had an interception. Lester had five tackles (three solo), and White finished with two solo tackles and also forced a fumble.

Linebacker Luke Kuechly was second on the team with six tackles (one solo), which trailed Hardy's team-high eight tackles.

An echocardiogram performed at the combine showed Lotulelei had a heart condition but since then he's passed "at least 10 tests, including two Cardiac MRIs, the gold standard of medical testing of the human heart."

(4/2/2013) The Salt Lake Tribune reports Utah defensive lineman Star Lotulelei's heart is fine, welcomed news after having a slight issue with it at the NFL combine. Utah physician Dave Petron announced Lotulelei has "no evidence of dysfunction," and that tests found his heart function performed "consistently with that of highly trained athletes."

An echocardiogram performed at the combine showed Lotulelei's issue, forcing him to wait to work out for NFL coaches and scouts. Considered by many to be a Top 10 talent, Lotulelei will seek a second opinion while planning for his pro day on March 20.
