Bruce Irvin back practicing with Seahawks

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(10/2/2013) Seahawks linebacker Bruce Irvin is back practicing after missing the first four games due to a suspension. Coach Pete Carroll said the team will see how he works in practice before determining his role Week 5 at Indianapolis.

"He seems to be very fit, as healthy as can be," Carroll said, per the team's official website. "We've got to see what he's doing and what he looks like."

Bruce Irvin preps for final work before suspension

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8/28/2013) Seahawks linebacker Bruce Irvin is set to play extensively in Thursday's preseason finale against the Raiders, according to the Seattle Times. Irvin will need to make that playing time count, as it will be the last time he takes the field for the Seahawks until Week 5, as he must open the season serving a four-game performance-enhancing drug suspension.

"I'm excited, but at the same time it's hard because I'm going to be gone from these guys for four weeks," Irvin said. "I'm just going to go out there and bust my tail and make them miss me when I'm gone."

Once Irvin returns, he will be playing a new position, one he doesn't have much experience working at. Irvin is making the move to outside linebacker, and Thursday will be his last chance to get game experience at the new position. He has been limited through the preseason by a groin injury, playing just seven snaps against the Packers last week.

Cliff Avril and Bruce Irvin unlikely to play

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

Bruce Irvin switching positions

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(7/10/2013) Seahawks coach Pete Carroll wants to move Bruce Irvin from defensive end to outside linebacker this season, reports the Tacoma News Tribune.

Irvin, who led all rookies with eight sacks last year, will remain one of Seattle's main pass rushers on third down. Carroll believes the transition for Irvin will be an easy one.

"He's extremely versatile, and that's why we've loved him from the start," Carroll said. "He's really fast. He's 250 pounds, and he's exactly fitting the right kind of body type to play outside backer in the 3-4 system. We're a 4-3 personnel system that plays 3-4 looks. He's extremely valuable for us."

Irvin will miss the first four games of the season for violating the NFL's policy for PEDs, reportedly testing positive for Adderall.

Irvin suspended four games

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(5/17/2013) Seattle defensive end Bruce Irvin has been suspended without pay for the first four games of the 2013 regular season for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing substances, the team reported Friday. Irvin will be eligible to return to the Seahawks' active roster on Monday, Sept. 30 following the team's Sept. 29 game against the Texans. Irvin is eligible to participate in all offseason and preseason practices and games. "I want to apologize to my teammates, coaches and Seahawks fans for making a mistake when I took a substance that is prohibited in the NFL without a medical exemption," Irvin said in a statement. "I am extremely disappointed in the poor judgment I showed and take full responsibility for my actions. I will not appeal the discipline and instead will focus my energy on preparing for the season so I can begin earning your trust and respect again. I look forward to contributing to the team the moment I return."
