News: Bears tight end/fullback Evan Rodriguez has been arrested, according to CBS Miami. He's been charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest in Miami.
Analysis: Rodriguez has garnered some comparisons to New England tight end Aaron Hernandez because of his position, size and speed. But he's produced nothing like Hernandez and might be out of a job soon as the Bears don't always tolerate this kind of behavior. We'll see what happens.
News: Bears fullback Evan Rodriguez left Sunday's game against the Rams with a knee injury. He is questionable to return.
Analysis: Rodriguez, a converted tight end, has no Fantasy value at this time.
News: Bears rookie Evan Rodriguez, who was drafted as a tight end in April, changed his jersey number to 48 and will be listed as a fullback.
Analysis: This change is a bit surprising considering Rodriguez's receiving ability was so widely praised in training camp. The tight end position is a little cloudy for the Bears, but apparently, the team doesn't expect Rodriguez to figure into their plans there. As a fullback, his chances of contributing in Fantasy are pretty slim, so you can leave him on waivers.
News: Bears rookie tight end Evan Rodriguez received praise from numerous media outlets following the team's first training camp practice. Rodriguez did a lot of receiving on seam routes. "That's my job," Rodriguez said. "It was exciting to be out there some with the first team. Just being on the field in general, right now it's a learning process for me. I'm coming along slowly, but today was the first step. Tomorrow's a new day."
Analysis: Rodriguez has garnered some comparisons to New England tight end Aaron Hernandez because of his position, size, speed and the fact both played for current Temple head coach and former Florida offensive coordinator Steve Addazio. But Rodriguez doesn't quite have Hernandez's speed and is slightly smaller, and he's still raw as a football player. We'll keep an eye on him in training camp but we don't expect him to be a big contributor in 2012. For now he's only worth a pick late in dynasty/keeper leagues and rookie-only drafts.
News: Bears tight ends coach Mike DeBord says rookie tight end Evan Rodriguez has proven that he can run and catch, but his blocking skills need work. He also has to prove that he's absorbed the offense if he's going to play anytime soon. "Training camp will be big for him," DeBord told the official team website. "[I]n training camp and in the preseason games, were going to see how physical he is, how well he blocks on the line of scrimmage or in the backfield or out wide. He's going to have to prove himself as a blocker. In the passing game, you can evaluate him in the offseason because youre able to see him run and catch. The big thing for him is how much he will retain from the offseason and bring into training camp so he can really just take off and go. Thats going to be important for him."

News: Tight end Evan Rodriguez, the Bears' fourth-round draft pick, is expected to help fill the void of pass catcher that has been missing since Greg Olsen was traded a year ago. At 244 pounds, Rodriguez isn't going to help the Bears as an in-line blocker, no matter what coach Lovie Smith says. But they feel he's got enough grit to be a lead blocker from the fullback position or hit a moving target on the second level. "He's another guy that can do a lot of things for us, whether it's lining up at the fullback position, splitting out as an F guy, being able to move," Smith said. "He's got good speed, (and is a) good blocker. We can do a lot of things with him, too. He gives us a lot of options."

News: The Bears selected tight end/H-back Evan Rodriguez of Temple in the fourth round of the NFL draft. Rodriguez was productive as a receiver with 69 catches for 873 yards and six touchdowns at Temple. The 6-foot-1, 244-pounder comes with a rap sheet: He had a felony assault charge reduced to a misdemeanor disturbance and trespassing charge in 2007 while attending West Virginia. Then after transferring to Temple, he was arrested for disorderly conduct in April of 2009 and in 2010 sat out a game for breaking an unspecified team rule. General manager Phil Emery acknowledged the character questions about fourth-round draft pick Evan Rodriguez but sees higher level coaching and maturity as factors in his staying out of trouble since 2010. Emery said he has seen more Temple games as a scout in recent years than any other team and is confident Rodriguez has matured.
