by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(7/9/2014) The Cowboys believe Tyrone Crawford is "ready to start" at left defensive end, "but want to see him earn the spot in training camp," reports the Dallas Morning News. Crawford, 24, missed last season with a torn Achilles' tendon but reportedly has recovered.

He'll push George Selvie for the starting job. In 2012, Crawford made 20 tackles while appearing in every game.

(3/27/2014) Cowboys defensive lineman Tyrone Crawford is recovered from his torn Achilles, coach Jason Garrett told ESPN. Garrett mentioned that Crawford is an important piece because he can play anywhere along the defensive line.

Crawford had 20 tackles in the 16 games he played in 2012. The Achilles injury sidelined him for all of 2013.

Cowboys lose backup DE to Achilles injury

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(7/22/2013) The Cowboys lost defensive end Tyrone Crawford to a season-ending Achilles injury Sunday. Crawford fell to the ground during slalom drills against tackling dummies and immediately yelled out about his Achilles.

Crawford, a 2012 third-round pick, played all 16 games as a rookie last season, recording 20 tackles. He was expected to be Anthony Spencer's backup in 2013.

Tyrone Crawford generating buzz

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(6/21/2013) Cowboys defensive lineman Tyrone Crawford is headed for an expanded role in his second season, reports ESPN.

Crawford is expected to back up Anthony Spencer at defensive end and could also get playing time at both interior spots. The report says there has been "a lot of good buzz" in Dallas this offseason about Crawford, who is a 285-pound physical specimen.

Claiborne highlights Dallas' draft

(5/7/2012) The Cowboys moved up and took LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne with the sixth overall pick in the draft, but he wasn't their only defensive pick. The Cowboys also picked up Boise State defensive end Tyrone Crawford, Wake Forest linebacker Kyle Wilber, Eastern Washington safety Matt Johnson and Montana linebacker Caleb McSurdy. Wilber led the Demon Deacons in sacks the last two seasons and could get some time to rush the passer this season. Johnson's a raw project-type player, McSurdy was the Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Year who can smack defenders and Crawford has some potential as a 3-4 defensive lineman.
