Dolphins CB Wilson out Thursday and doubtful for Sunday

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10/16/2014) Dolphins cornerback Jimmy Wilson was sidelined from his third straight practice Thursday, meaning he will unlikely play Sunday at Chicago, per the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Wilson has been dealing with a hamstring injury that had already knocked him out of the first two sessions this week.

Dolphins CB Jimmy Wilson could be no-go in Chicago

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10/16/2014) The Dolphins are bracing to play Sunday in Chicago without nickel cornerback Jimmy Wilson, per the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

His status for Thursday practice will go a long way in determining if he can overcame a hamstring injury sustained in Week 6 to play against the Bears. He has missed the first two practices this week.

Wilson has expressed confidence that he will be active. He has started all five games this season and has contributed to 26 tackles while recording one interception.

Dolphins experiencing changes in secondary

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10/9/2014) A shakeup in the Dolphins secondary has landed Reshad Jones back as starting safety and Jimmy Wilson returning to the slot corner spot he played last year.

Jones worked with the first team Wednesday after serving with the backups earlier in the week, according to the Miami Herald. He had been suspended four games for violating the league drug policy. He might have taken longer to get back to his familiar role had usual slot corner Cortland Finnegan not missed practice with a neck injury

Wilson, meanwhile, feels fine in the slot. "I became real comfortable last year," Wilson said. "I played well. I feel like I was one of the best slot corners in the league last year. And it's not like I haven't been covering anyone one-on-one. I still do one-on-one every single day and all through camp."

Jimmy Wilson exits Week 4 with hip injury

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(9/28/2014) Dolphins defensive back Jimmy Wilson left Week 4 against the Raiders with a left hip injury, according to the Sun Sentinel. Wilson picked off Matt McGloin in the third quarter for his first interception of the season. He finished with three tackles (two solo) and one pass defended.

The Dolphins have a bye next week before hosting the Packers in Week 6.

Dolphins defense missing just two for Week 13

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(12/1/2013) The Dolphins defense is missing two defensive backs for Week 13 against the Jets, as Dimitri Patterson (groin) and Jamar Taylor (hamstring) are unable to suit up for Sunday's game. The rest of the team's injured defenders were able to play through their issues, however, headlined by defensive back Chris Clemons (knee, hamstring), who was considered questionable for the game.

Defensive back Jimmy Wilson (abdomen), linebacker Koa Misi (knee) and defensive lineman Jared Odrick (knee) were all active as expect, as all three were considered probable for the game.

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(11/29/2013) The Dolphins have designated seven players as probable for their AFC East battle Sunday against the Jets. All practiced in full on Friday.

Dolphins defense missing just one in Week 12

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11/24/2013) The Dolphins defense is largely healthy for Week 12 against the Panthers, as only Dimitri Patterson (groin) was unable to play through his injury Sunday.

Defensive backs Jimmy Wilson (abdomen), Reshad Jones (groin) and Chris Clemons (knee, shoulder) were joined on the active roster for Sunday's game by linebackers Dannell Ellerbe (knee) and Koa Misi (knee), as well as defensive lineman Derrick Shelby (ankle).

Dolphins DST struggles against the run

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(11/12/2013) The Dolphins DST allowed the Buccaneers to run for 140 yards in the Week 10 loss as Tampa Bay controlled the ball nearly 35 minutes. Three Buccaneers' backs found success running right at Miami.

The Dolphins created one turnover, a Jimmy Wilson interception, and got sacks from Dannell Ellerbe and Nolan Carroll. Marcus Thigpen returned a punt 34 yards. But overall it was a disappointing effort.

Miami's DST faces a tougher matchup Week 11 vs. San Diego.

Dolphins DST gets shellacked

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(10/1/2013) The injury-depleted Dolphins DST seemed helpless to stop Drew Brees and the Saints on Monday night. New Orleans rolled up 38 points and 465 total yards in the blowout.

Safety Jimmy Wilson forced a Darren Sproles fumble, linebacker Dannell Ellerbe recovering. Defensive ends Jared Odrick and Olivier Vernon each sacked Brees. But it was a long night for Miami's defense, which was on the field nearly 34 minutes.

The Dolphins DST has an easier matchup Week 5 against Baltimore.
