Ka'Deem Carey sees field ahead of Michael Ford in opener

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8/9/2014) Bears running backs Ka'Deem Carey and Michael Ford got their first chances to battle for the No. 2 spot on the depth chart Friday, in the preseason opener against the Eagles.

Neither player stood out, though Carey appears to be ahead on the depth chart as he saw most of his action in the first half.  He rushed the ball 10 times for just 23 yards while failing to bring in the one pass thrown his way, while Ford had just 15 yards on his five carries.

Ka'Deem Carey, Michael Ford to battle for No. 2 job

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(6/24/2014) The Bears are trying to figure out who will be No. 2 on the depth chart at running back behind Matt Forte, reports ESPN.

The battle will likely come down to second-year running back Michael Ford and rookie fourth-round pick Ka’Deem Carey . The report said it’s likely Carey will be given more opportunities than Ford to win the backup job, but Carey’s got to win the position.

"I don't feel any pressure. I like to have fun, and when I have fun, I play my best," Carey said. "If I get worked up about trying to compete and trying to show what I've got, then I will just show out bad. I want to perform how I know how to perform. I walk around with a smile, and I have fun, and I perform."

The report says undrafted rookie Jordan Lynch is a darkhorse candidate for the No. 2 job but probably will end up on the practice squad.

Bears agree to terms with Ka'Deem Carey

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(5/13/2014) The Bears agreed to terms on a four-year deal with running back Ka'Deem Carey, a fourth-round pick. Carey comes to Chicago after winning Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2013.

He rushed for a school-record 4,239 yards and 48 touchdowns in his three-year career with Arizona.

Ka'Deem Carey gains Fantasy relevance

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(5/12/2014) By getting taken by the Bears in the draft, rookie rusher Ka'Deem Carey finds himself in a good situation to contribute a little bit this season. He totaled over 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns last season for the University of Arizona and should have the edge on Michael Ford in the battle to back up Matt Forte this season.

Of course, backing up Forte doesn't guarantee a ton of playing time. Of the 430 touches Bears running backs had last year, Forte had 363 of them (84.4 pct.). That should tell you just how limited Carey's reps would be should he earn the backup job.

He's a great handcuff to Forte worth a late-round pick in standard seasonal leagues, a good late-round pick in dynasty/keeper leagues and a second- or third-round pick in rookie-only drafts.

Ka'Deem Carey drafted by Bears in Round 4

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(5/10/2014) With the 116th pick of the 2014 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears selected running back Ka'Deem Carey from Arizona.

Carey was one of the top backs in the nation, cracking the 100-yard mark in every one of his games in 2013. He totaled 1,885 yards and 19 touchdowns on the ground, averaging 5.4 yards per carry despite serving a one-game suspension at the start of the 2013 season. He also had 26 receptions for 173 yards and one touchdown.

Carey has a chance to slot behind Matt Forte as the team's second running back in the depth chart.
