Seahawks DT Jesse Williams cleared to work out after surgery

(6/12/2015) Seahawks defensive tackle Jesse Williams had surgery on May 28 for a papillary type 2 cancer, on Thursday he announced via his Twitter account that he has been cleared to begin working out.

It's been less than a month since Williams was diagnosed with cancer.

(5/26/2015) Seahawks defensive tackle Jesse Williams is scheduled to have kidney surgery on Thursday, the team announced. 

This surgery will take place 10 days after he was diagnosed with Papillary Type 2 cancer. 

"He’s a battler all the way," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. "He’s been up against it, too. He’s fought some difficult fights, and he’s fighting another one - maybe the fight of a young man’s life.

"We’ll be there with him and hope to pull him through.”

(5/18/2015) Seahawks defensive tackle Jesse Williams was diagnosed with Papillary Type 2 cancer and will undergo kidney surgery, the organization announced. 

“Although disappointing, I am a fighter and will handle this," Williams said in a written statement. "I am going to focus on my health and fighting this battle with a return to football as my ultimate goal. Thank you for your thoughts and support. Go Hawks!"

Williams was re-signed by the Seahawks on April 1 on a restructured contract. 

“Jesse is an extraordinarily tough individual who has overcome a great deal in his life and we will support him in any way possible," Seahawks general manager John Schneider said. "He is in our thoughts and prayers.”


Seahawks re-sign DT Jesse Williams, FB Will Tukuafu

(4/1/2015) The Seahawks brought back two familiar faces on Wednesday. 

According to the NFL's transaction wire, the Seahawks re-signed defensive tackle Jesse Williams and fullback Will Tukuafu. Williams was waived in early March but said, via ESPN.com, that he was going to re-sign on a restructured contract. 

Tukuafu was signed to the Seahawks in 2014 after the 49ers released him. He played in nine games for Seattle.
