Panthers DST gets steamrolled

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(9/22/2014) After opening the season with two strong performances, the Panthers DST got run over Week 3 by the Steelers. Carolina allowed a whopping 264 rushing yards and 454 total yards in the 37-19 loss. Pittsburgh averaged 7.8 yards per carry.

Carolina mustered one sack, by defensive end Mario Addison, and zero turnovers. The Panthers DST will try to bounce back Week 4 at Baltimore.

Panthers give contract extensions to three players

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(6/18/2014) The Panthers extended the contracts of defensive end Mario Addison, safety Colin Jones and offensive tackle Nate Chandler. The team made the announcement on Wednesday.

Addison received a two-year extension following three seasons of work in which he totaled 3.5 sakcs and 36 total tackles, most of which came on special teams. Jones also got a two-year extension and has similarly contributed on special teams, tallying 27 total tackles over 44 games.

Panthers DST hits major speed bump in New Orleans

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(12/9/2013) The Panthers DST entered Week 14 red hot and left the Superdome humiliated. The unit got picked apart by Drew Brees and the Saints, allowing a season-high 31 points.

The Panthers sacked Brees twice but otherwise rarely pressured him. They did not force a turnover. New Orleans converted 7 of 12 third downs and rolled up 373 yards.

Among the few highlights, defensive end Mario Addison and safety Quintin Mikell registered sacks, and Ted Ginn had a 32-yard punt return.

Carolina, which came in allowing a league-low 13.1 points, should have a lot more success Week 15 when the Jets visit.
