Plaxico Burress still wants to play ball

(3/3/2014) Wideout Plaxico Burress is slated to be a free agent this spring but a story on the Steelers' official website says he still wants to play even after having shoulder surgery. 

"I am doing pretty good," Burress said. "I still have a ways to go from a rehab standpoint. I am rehabbing every day and will see how it feels when the offseason program starts. ... Right now I am working on the range of motion, trying to get all of the range of motion back that I can. As the weeks and months go by I am getting stronger. Getting my range of motion back is the most important thing for me with the position I play, being able to catch balls the way that I need to."

Burress will be 37 when the 2014 season starts. 


Steelers could make changes at receiver

(2/20/2014) The Steelers will likely lose free agent receiver Emmanuel Sanders this offseason, but the team could re-sign Jerricho Cotchery, reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Plaxico Burress is also not expected to return.

Antonio Brown and Markus Wheaton will likely open the season as the starters, and Cotchery could be the No. 3 receiver. 


Steelers place Plaxico Burress on injured reserve

(8/13/2013) The Steelers put wideout Plaxico Burress on injured reserve following surgery to fix a torn rotator cuff and signed receiver Tyler Shaw to take his roster spot. An undrafted rookie free agent from Northwest Missouri State, Shaw was cut by the Cardinals a week ago.


Plaxico Burress has season-ending surgery

(8/13/2013) Steelers receiver Plaxico Burress underwent season-ending — and possibly career-ending — surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff Monday, reports ESPN.

Burress, 36, injured his shoulder last week when diving to catch a pass. It was reported then Burress was likely facing a season-ending injury.

Burress played in only four games last season in his return to Pittsburgh, with three total catches for 42 yards and a touchdowns. He has played in 148 games through an 11-season career with the Steelers, Jets and New York Giants. He has 553 receptions for 8,499 yards and 64 touchdowns.

(8/9/2013) Steelers receiver Plaxico Burress is scheduled for shoulder surgery Monday to repair a torn rotator cuff, according to the team.

Burress was injured during Thursday's practice. He was competing with Jerricho Cotchery to be the No. 4 receiver on the roster.

(8/8/2013) Steelers wide receiver Plaxico Burress has been diagnosed with at torn rotator cuff, according to ESPN.com. Burress suffered the injury in practice Thursday, when he fell awkwardly on the arm after going up for a ball.

Burress was battling for a spot on the wide receiving depth charts in training camp, but now his season could be in jeopardy.

(8/8/2013) Steelers wide receiver Plaxico Burress was carted off the practice field Thursday, with an apparent injury to either his elbow or shoulder, according to the Uniontown Herald-Standard. He went up for a reception during practice and fell on his arm, and the extent and severity of the injury is not yet known.

Burress has been competing for a spot in the team's receiving corps in the offseason. 


Burress expects red-zone dominance

(6/10/2013) The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Steelers receiver Plaxico Burress remains confident in his ability even though he doesn't have a defined role and will be 36 in August. "I know I can still play, I know I can dominate in the red zone," Burress said. "Just go out and play at a high percentage. In those one-on-one opportunities, just succeed at a high rate. I know I can. Being out there last year, I drew double coverage in the red zone without hardly playing, I think teams will have to respect that."

(3/14/2013) After signing a one-year deal to stay with the Steelers and watching Mike Wallace leave for Miami, Plaxico Burress has designs on starting in 2013. "I am going to approach it like I am going to be a starter," said Burress about the upcoming season per the official team website. "I am going to work my tail off and see what happens. I am putting it out there for everybody to know."

La Canfora: Plax back with Steelers

(3/12/2013) CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora reports the Steelers plan to sign receiver Plaxico Burress to a one-year, veteran minimum deal in the coming days, according to a league source. Burress played sparingly with the Steelers after signing with them in November.
