News: Patriots DL Shaun Ellis brielfy left during Week 5 against the Jets with a knee injury, but was able to return and finish out the contest. Ellis, who was limited in practice last week with his injury, only had one tackle in the 30-21 victory.
Analysis: Ellis was able to finish out the contest on Sunday, but does not look to be 100 percent. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his status over the next few days, as he will more than likely wind up on the injury report. Still, he should be considered nothing more than low-end option at this point of his career anyway.
News: Patriots DL Shaun Ellis has officially been ruled active for Week 5 against the Jets. Ellis was able to practice in full on Friday after being limited in practice earlier in the week.
Analysis: Ellis is going to experience what it feels like to be on the Patriots side of this rivalry after spending the last 11 seasons playing for the Jets. However, Ellis has three tackles and no sacks in four games this season and has low-end Fantasy appeal heading into Week 5.
News: Patriots DL Shaun Ellis (knee) is listed as probable for Week 5 vs. N.Y. Jets. He returned to a full practice Friday after limited reps Wednesday and Thursday.

News: Longtime Jets DL Shaun Ellis was offered the veterans minimum by the team early in free agency, but multiple sources Sunday say he went in a different direction. Ellis reached an agreement with the Patriots on a one-year deal, though it is pending a physical from the 34-year-old.
Analysis: Ellis is not the sack-artist he used to be, but he has remained both durable and productive in his career. The Tennessee product has played in no less than 15 games in any of his 11 pro seasons, and he's finished with fewer than five sacks just twice -- including last season (4 1/2). Still, Ellis will move to a system in New England famous for making the most of the tail-end of top-notch player's careers. Fantasy owners should expect him to be productive once again, worth a late-round pick as a low-end option in IDP formats.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis (knee) was active for the AFC Championship game against the Steelers on Sunday. Ellis took a pain-killer prior to the game, reports the New York Daily News.
Analysis: Ellis finished the 2010 regular season with 36 total tackles and 4 1/2 sacks for the Jets. He had 3 1/2 sacks in his first five games, however, and only had one the rest of the regular season. That changed when the playoffs started as he picked up two sacks in the Divisional Playoff win at New England. Ellis is a nice veteran presence for the Jets, but his Fantasy value will remain minimal in deeper IDP Fantasy formats heading into 2011.
News: Although listed as questionable for Sunday's AFC Championship game against Pittsburgh, Jets DE Shaun Ellis (knee) is completely expected to take the field for New York, reports the New York Daily News. Ellis didn't practice on Friday, but coach Rex Ryan has been saying all along that he expects Ellis to play.

News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis has been dealing with a knee issue lately, but the veteran didn't let that bother him as he recorded a sack in Week 14. He would take down Miami QB Chad Henne -- one of five sacks the Jets had on the day. He finished the game with just one tackle.
Analysis: Ellis has 34 tackles, 4.5 sacks and one forced fumble on the season. The veteran isn't worth owning in many Fantasy IDP leagues and is just a low-end DL option at this stage of his career.
News: New York DL Shaun Ellis was active for Week 14. The veteran has been dealing with a knee issue.
Analysis: Ellis isn't having a very good season when it comes to making tackles. He has 33 tackles on the season to go along with 3.5 sacks, which makes him a low-end IDP option.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis was a non-factor in Week 13 against the Patriots. Ellis had just one assisted tackle in the 45-3 loss. He now has 33 tackles on the season to go along with 3.5 sacks.
Analysis: Ellis has not been great at tackling this season and it has hurt his value in Fantasy IDP leagues. Consider him a low-end Fantasy start heading into Week 14 against the Dolphins.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis has officially been ruled active for Week 13 against the Patriots. Ellis had been limited at practice for the week with a knee injury.
Analysis: Ellis has not been great at tackling this season and it has hurt his value in Fantasy IDP leagues. Ellis doesn't get enough tackles or sacks to really matter outside the deeper leagues. He's not worth using Week 13.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis (knee) was listed on the injury report for the Monday night game in Week 13 at New England. Ellis had been limited at practice for the week but was officially upgraded to probable for the Monday night game.
Analysis: Ellis has not been great at tackling this season and it has hurt his value in Fantasy IDP leagues. Ellis doesn't get enough tackles or sacks to really matter outside the deeper leagues. He's not worth using Week 13.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis managed just two tackles -- one solo -- in the Week 12 win over the Bengals. He was not able to sack QB Carson Palmer. He did draw a penatly on his best sack-attempt.
Analysis: Ellis has been fairly quiet this season, recording just 32 tackles and 3.5 sacks so far this season. He is not a great source for tackles or sacks and should be considered a low-end Fantasy DL, when healthy.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis is not among the inactives announced for the Week 12 game against the Bengals. He was probable heading into the matchup.
Analysis: Ellis has been fairly quiet this season, recording just 30 tackles and 3.5 sacks so far this season. He is not a great source for tackles or sacks and should be considered a low-end Fantasy DL, when healthy.

News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis totaled four tackles and one quarterback hit in Week 11 against the Texans. He has 30 tackles in 10 games.
Analysis: Unless Ellis has one heck of a run down the stretch he is in jeopardy of finishing with less than 50 tackles for the first time in three seasons. Ellis remains a low-end Fantasy DL.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis contributed to the team's OT win with four tackles (three solo) on the day.
Analysis: Ellis has 26 tackles on the year and 3 1/2 sacks. That said, his last 1/2 sack came back in Week 5 against Minnesota. He hasn't finished in double digits in sacks since 2004. He isn't an especially good source of tackles either, so you shouldn't use him as more than a No. 3 DL in Fantasy IDP leagues.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis finished the Week 9 win over the Lions with just two tackles. One of those tackles were solo. He did not have a sack in the game but one tackle did bring a loss in yardage for the Lions.
Analysis: Ellis has 22 tackles on the year and 3 1/2 sacks. That said, his last 1/2 sack came back in Week 5 against Minnesota. He hasn't finished in double digits in sacks since 2004. News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis went without a sack for the second straight game Week 8 against the Packers, finishing with just two solo tackles.
Analysis: Ellis has 3 1/2 sacks on the season, but he hasn't finished in double digits since 2004. He isn't an especially good source of tackles either, so you shouldn't use him as more than a No. 3 DL in Fantasy IDP leagues.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis did not record a stat in Week 6 against the Broncos.
Analysis: Ellis has 18 tackles on the year and 3.5 sacks to his credit. The Jets have a bye in Week 7, so Ellis can be benched in all formats. However, New York will need Ellis to cause a ruckus in Week 8 as they host Green Bay. Fantasy owners should consider the veteran a low-end DL option in IDP leagues.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis has been ruled active for Week 5 against the Vikings. Ellis was limited in practice this week with a knee injury.
Analysis: Ellis has three sacks through four games and forced a fumble. The veteran may not be as big of a Fantasy impact-player as he was in years past, but should still be considered a low-end Fantasy IDP option, when healthy.
News: New York DL Shaun Ellis was limited in practice on both Thursday and Friday for the Jets as they prepare for a Monday night showdown with the Vikings. Ellis hurt his knee after sacking Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick in the Week 4 game.
Analysis: The Jets want Ellis to be healthy so he can put some pressure on Brett Favre in Week 5. Ellis has three sacks through four games and forced a fumble. The veteran may not be as big of a Fantasy impact-player but should still be considered a low-end Fantasy IDP option, when healthy.
News: Jets DE Shaun Ellis hurt his knee after sacking Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick in the Week 4 game. New York later confirmed that Ellis suffered a knee injury and he could not return to the game. Ellis finished with three tackles and a sack in the performance.
Analysis: Ellis already has three sacks this season over four games with a forced fumble and 14 tackles. He's been solid this season for New York. His lack of tackles limits his value in IDP leagues, however. Consider a healthy Ellis a lower-end Fantasy IDP option for Week 5 against the Vikings.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis, who had only 6 1/2 sacks last year, recorded his second in three games Week 3 at Miami. He finished with three tackles, two solo.
Analysis: Ellis used to be one of the better sack men in the game, but all the years and all the different schemes have made him not nearly as enticing as he once was. He's no more than a No. 3 Fantasy DL.
News: After recording seven tackles, a sack and a forced fumble in the season opener, Jets DL Shaun Ellis had one assisted tackle and a quarterback hit in Week 2 against the Patriots.
Analysis: Ellis had a monster first game but did not do too much in Week 2. Teams might single him out with Kris Jenkins out for the year but the 33-year-old should still be able to put up decent stats. Continue to view Ellis as a solid No. 3 Fantasy DL option heading into his Week 3 matchup against the Dolphins.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis had a big game in Week against the Ravens. Ellis recorded seven tackles, five solo and one for a loss in the 10-9 victory. Ellis was also credited with a half a sack on the first play of the game. Ellis and Bryan Thomas sacked Joe Flacco forcing a fumble that set up the Jets first scoring drive.
Analysis: Ellis had a nice game Monday and was a constant pest in the Ravens' backfield. He showed no lingering effects from a minor-knee injury he suffered in the preseason and will easily earn another trip to the Pro Bowl if he continues to play like he did Monday. Consider him a solid No. 3 Fantasy DL option heading into his Week 2 matchup against the Patriots.

News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis injured his right leg in the first quarter during Saturday's preseason game against Redskins, but he returned to action after getting it checked out on the sidelines. Ellis has three tackles in the preseason.
Analysis: A few months ago, Ellis pondered his future with the Jets as he is entering the final year of his contract and didn't appear to have a future in New York after this season. While Vernon Gholston is having a very good camp, Ellis is still on the roster and expected to see significant playing time at defensive end. Ellis can still get after the QB, but he is no longer a threat for 10 or more sacks. Consider him more of a No. 3 Fantasy DL.
News:Shaun Ellis wonders if he has sacked his last quarterback for the Jets. The 32-year-old defensive end, the team's longest-tenured player, is uncertain about his future with the Jets after asking for and being denied a contract extension. He said Thursday that he's unsure if he'll even be with the team when the season begins in four months. "I don't know," Ellis said. "I think so. Well, I hope so. You never know what they're thinking up there. You've just got to roll with it. We try to control our own fate, but we really can't." Ellis is entering the final year of his contract, and said the team cited its policy of having its older veterans play out their deals. "Considering everything, I want to be here and I hope things get worked out," he said, "but it seems like they won't, to be truthful." GM Mike Tannenbaum said he anticipates Ellis staying put this season.
Analysis: Ellis made his second Pro Bowl appearance last season and ranks third on the team's career list with 68 sacks. He had 56 tackles and two forced fumbles despite being suspended by the NFL for the season opener for violating the league's substance abuse policy following a marijuana arrest in November 2008. Ellis also set the franchise mark for postseason starts with his ninth, and had the first playoff sack of his career against Cincinnati. Ellis said his broken left hand, suffered in the Jets' 17-14 playoff win at San Diego on Jan. 17, is fully healed and has no restrictions. He also said his left knee, which occasionally swelled last season, is feeling fine. We like Ellis as a solid DL in IDP leagues, and he's worth a late-round pick in 2010, assuming he's back with the Jets as expected.
News: Jets DE Shaun Ellis, participating in voluntary offseason workouts, said his surgically repaired left hand "feels good, but I haven't hit anything yet." Ellis broke the hand in the Jets' 17-14 playoff win at San Diego, and needed screws inserted after playing in the Pro Bowl. He expects to be 100 percent by minicamp in June.
Analysis: Ellis should be fine by training camp, which is what matters most heading into the season. We like Ellis as a No. 2 DL, and he's worth a late-round pick in IDP leagues this year.
News: Jets Pro Bowl defensive end Shaun Ellis is recovering from surgery on his broken left hand and should be ready in time to participate in most offseason workouts. Ellis told The Associated Press that the procedure, during which screws were inserted into the hand, was performed last Tuesday, two days after he played in the Pro Bowl. "I did have the surgery and my recovery is coming along," Ellis said in an e-mail. Ellis was injured during the Jets' 17-14 playoff win at San Diego on Jan. 17, and wore a cast against Indianapolis in the AFC championship.
Analysis: Ellis is a serviceable Fantasy DL when healthy, which he should be long before training camp. Think of him as a No. 3 DL at best in 2010.
News: Jets defensive end Shaun Ellis and linebackers David Harris and Bart Scott are probable for the AFC championship game despite being limited at practice Friday with injuries. Ellis has a broken left hand that will be in a cast for the game against the Indianapolis Colts. He'll have surgery after the game, whether the Jets win or lose. Harris (right ankle) and Scott (left ankle) were noticeably hobbled Friday during practice. Safety Kerry Rhodes was a full participant after bumping his right knee in practice Thursday. Cornerback Donald Strickland fully participated despite breaking his right pinkie in practice earlier this week.
Analysis: Of these players, only Harris and Scott are useful for IDP play this late in the year. Consider them good options. Everyone else is no better than a low-end choice against the Colts' high-powered offense.
News: Jets defensive end Shaun Ellis has returned to practice on a limited basis with a broken left hand. Ellis, one of the Jets' top pass rushers, was injured early in the team's victory at San Diego on Sunday. He missed practice Wednesday, but was on the field in a cast Thursday and is expected to play in the AFC championship game against the Indianapolis Colts.
Analysis: Ellis is a serviceable Fantasy DL when healthy, but there's obviously minimal upside in using him against the Colts in the Conference Championship game. Think of him as a No. 3 DL at best in 2010.
News: New York Jets defensive end Shaun Ellis sat out practice because of a broken left hand, but he is expected to play in the AFC championship game against the Indianapolis Colts. Ellis broke the hand on the Jets' first defensive play in their 17-14 victory at San Diego on Sunday but later returned with a cast wrapped up like a club. He said he'll have surgery to have screws inserted after the game against the Colts.

News: Jets DE Shaun Ellis has a broken left hand that will require surgery, but he expects to play in the AFC championship against Indianapolis. Ellis was injured on the Jets' first defensive play in their 17-14 win at San Diego on Sunday. He said Monday that his hand "just gave out" when he was blocked by an offensive lineman. "I tried to just finish that series out," Ellis said. "Then, once I got to the sideline, I was like, 'You know what, my hand is broken.' Then, they checked and were like, 'Yeah, you're right, it is.'" Ellis, third on the team's career sacks list, had the hand placed in a cast that was wrapped up like a club and he later returned to the game. X-rays after the game confirmed the extent of the injury.
Analysis: Ellis is a serviceable Fantasy DL when healthy, but there's obviously minimal upside in using him against the Colts in the Conference Championship Game. Think of him as a No. 3 DL at best in 2010.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis (knee) has been listed as probable for the team's Week 14 game at Tampa Bay. Ellis recorded two sacks Week 13 at Buffalo, finishing with four tackles, including three solo.
Analysis: Ellis might not be one of the elite defensive linemen in Fantasy, but he's starting to pick up sacks in bunches. Give him a look as a No. 2 option in Fantasy IDP leagues for Week 14 as the injury should not hold him out.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis recorded two sacks Week 13 at Buffalo, finishing with four tackles, including three solo. He now has three two-sack games in his last five and 6 1/2 sacks on the season.
Analysis: Ellis might not be one of the elite defensive linemen in Fantasy, but he's starting to pick up sacks in bunches. Give him a look as a No. 2 option in Fantasy IDP leagues.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis (knee), DB Jim Leonhard (thumb), DE Calvin Pace (shoulder) and DB Eric Smith (back) have all been listed as probable for the team's Week 13 game at Buffalo on Thursday.
Analysis: Ellis and Pace are decent low-end Fantasy options in IDP play and are safe to use for Thursday's game. Leonhard and Smith are just low-end options and can be ignored in basically all IDP formats.
News: The Jets had two players get two interceptions each Sunday against the Panthers in Darrelle Revis and Kerry Rhodes. Revis added two tackles also. Eric Smith and Jim Leonhard each had eight tackles, David Harris and Calvin Pace each had seven tackles and a sack and Bart Scott and Shaun Ellis each had four tackles.
Analysis: The Jets defense should play well again in Week 13 at Buffalo on Thursday night. Keep all of your regulars active against the Bills.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis (knee) has been listed as probable for the team's Week 12 game against the Panthers. Ellis was a full participant in practice on Friday.
Analysis: Ellis hasn't had a double-digit sack season since 2004 and is going to need one strong push down the stretch to get there, but he is starting to play a lot better over the last few weeks. Still, Ellis is a low-end Fantasy DL in IDP formats.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis totaled eight tackles (six solo) and two sacks during a Week 11 loss to the Patriots. He also had one forced fumble. Ellis has a pair of two-sack games in his last three appearances and 4 1/2 sacks on the season.

News: Jets LB Bart Scott (eight tackles, sack), LB Calvin Pace (six tackles), DL Shaun Ellis (five tackles, 1 1/2 sacks), LB David Harris (five tackles, sack), DL Sione Pouha (five tackles), DL Marques Douglas (five tackles, sack), DB Jim Leonhard (four tackles, half a sack), DL Howard Green (two sackles, half a sack) and LB Bryan Thomas (two tackles, half a sack) all had solid outings in a Week 8 loss to the Dolphins.
Analysis: Harris is an elite LB in all Fantasy IDP formats, while Pace and Scott have solid value in deeper formats. Ellis and Leonhard are barely worth owning in deeper leagues, while Pouha, Douglas, Green and Thomas are non-factors. All of these guys should be benched in Week 9 as the Jets are on a bye.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis (knee, ankle) has been listed as questionable for the team's Week 8 game against the Dolphins.
Analysis: Ellis is just a low-end Fantasy option in IDP formats to begin with but should be safe to use for Week 8.
News: Jets defensive end Shaun Ellis (bruised knee) and cornerback Donald Strickland (right ankle) were limited in practice on Friday and are listed as questionable for Week 6 vs. the Bills.
Analysis: Strickland is a fringe IDP option, but Ellis is a decent No. 3 Fantasy DL with potential to have a good game in a matchup like this since the Bills' O-line is awful. We'll know whether or not they'll be active come Sunday morning.
News: Jets cornerbacks Lito Sheppard (right quadriceps) and Donald Strickland (right ankle) both returned to practice, but were limited. Neither have played since being injured in New York's win over New England in Week 2. Sheppard said he's ready to start Sunday against the Bills, and was prepared to play against the Dolphins but the team wanted to give him extra time to heal for this week. "I'm going to be ready 100 percent," Sheppard said. "When I came back, we wanted to be sure that I was going to be able to perform at the level I left off at and not have any setbacks." Elsewhere on the defense, defensive end Shaun Ellis (bruised knee) didn't practice.
Analysis: Sheppard and Strickland are fringe IDP options, but Ellis is a decent No. 3 Fantasy DL with potential to have a good game in a matchup like this since the Bills' O-line is awful. We'll know whether or not he'll be active come Sunday morning, but we'll bring you the latest news on him until then.
News: DE Shaun Ellis was back at practice on Wednesday after missing the win Sunday at Houston because of a one-game suspension by the NFL for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.
Analysis: Ellis was arrested last November and charged with possession of marijuana, speeding and driving without insurance after being pulled over by police in Hanover, N.J., a few miles from the team's training facility in Florham Park. He's expected to play in the Jets' home opener against New England on Sunday. Think of him as a No. 2 DL in IDP formats for Week 2.
News: The Jets have waived cornerback Marquice Cole to make room for the reinstatement of suspended defensive end Shaun Ellis. Ellis was suspended for the first game of the season and fined $100,000 by the NFL for violating the league's substance-abuse policy last season.
News: The NFL has issued a statement that Jets DE Shaun Ellis has been suspended without pay for the first game of the season and fined an additional $100,000 for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Ellis was arrested last fall for marijuana possession. "I wasn't surprised," Ellis said. "I knew that was a possibility. There's nothing I can do about it. I just have to be ready for Week 2."
Analysis: Ellis should still be considered a No. 2 DL in IDP leagues based on his production last year and what he should do in the Jets new system. The one-game absence shouldn't be a problem for his Fantasy value on Draft Day.
News: Despite a published report that Jets DE Shaun Ellis is expected to be suspended by the NFL for the season opener stemming from his arrest in November for marijuana possession, he and the team said they hadn't heard anything official from the league.
Analysis: Ellis had a fine season last year with 60 tackles and eight sacks. He should enter 2009 as a No. 2 Fantasy DL in IDP leagues but be careful of this suspension story. If it happens that will be one less game that you'll have to utilize him.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis made the biggest play of the day in Week 15 against the Bills. Ellis scooped up a fumble on the 11-yard line with just about two minutes to go in the game and Buffalo with the lead. Ellis returned it for a touchdown to win the game for the Jets. Ellis added 11 tackles in the game.
Analysis: Ellis has 54 tackles this season and eight sacks after only having five in each of the last two seasons. Think of him as a No. 2 Fantasy DL in IDP leagues heading into Week 16 at Seattle.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis recorded eight tackles, including seven solo, Week 14 at San Francisco. He also recorded a sack -- his first since Week 9 -- and forced a fumble.
Analysis: Ellis has eight sacks on the season after having only five each of the last two seasons. Think of him as a No. 2 Fantasy DL in IDP leagues.
News: New York Jets defensive end Shaun Ellis was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, speeding and driving without insurance after being pulled over by police last weekend. Ellis, the Jets' longest-tenured player, was stopped last Saturday in Hanover, N.J., a few miles from the team's training facility after speeding, the Daily Record of Morris County reported on its Web site Thursday. Capt. Shawn Waldron, the information officer for the Hanover Township Police, wasn't available for comment Thursday night and wasn't due back at the station until Friday morning. Ellis played the day after the arrest in New York's 34-17 loss to Denver, and a team spokesman confirmed that he will play Sunday at San Francisco. "I apologize to my family, the fans and the organization," Ellis said in a statement issued by the team Thursday night. "As a captain, I set a poor and selfish example for my teammates, as well as all NFL players. Although this is a pending legal matter, I understand that I have to be responsible for my actions."
Analysis: This is believed to be Ellis' first offense, which means he won't be suspended by the league, but will be enrolled in the league's substance abuse program. He is having a solid season for the Jets, but still remains a low-end Fantasy DL.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis (back) is listed as probable for Week 13 vs. Denver. Ellis did not miss a practice this week. He has no sacks in his last three games and 5 1/2 in 11 games.
Analysis: Ellis is expected to dress for his 12th game Week 13, so keep him active in Fantasy IDP formats. He is having a solid season for the Jets, but still remains a low-end Fantasy DL.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis recorded a sack for the fifth time in six games Week 7 at Oakland. He finished with two tackles -- one solo.
Analysis: Ellis has disappointed sack-wise over the last few weeks, but he seems back on track this season. Consider taking a flier on him in Fantasy IDP leagues.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis had two tackles and one sack during a Week 4 win against the Cardinals. He also had one forced fumble. Ellis has three sacks in four games.
Analysis: Ellis has managed at least one sack in three games this season and is starting to once again look like a double-digit sack artist for New York. Ellis gets a decent amount of tackles, but remains more of a low-end Fantasy DL.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis had four tackles and a sack in Week 1 at Miami.
Analysis: Ellis is a run-stuffer more than anything else. He has minimal Fantasy value and should not be used in Week 2 against the Patriots.
News: Notable Jets listed as questionable for Week 1 at Miami include: CB David Barrett (shoulder), DE Shaun Ellis (hand), WR Marcus Henry (calf) and CB Justin Miller (foot). All of them practiced on a limited basis Friday.
Analysis: Aside from Ellis, who could put up a sack or two each week, none of these players are expected to produce significant stats on a regular basis to begin with. Keep these players off of Fantasy rosters until further notice.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis tied for the team lead in sacks in 2007 with five. It was the second year in a row Ellis recorded five sacks, which is far from his years in 2004 and 2003 when he combined for 23.5 sacks. Ellis also had 49 tackles in 2007, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
Analysis: Ellis will be 31 in 2008 and his best days are behind him. Consider him a low-end No. 3 DL in IDP leagues in 2008.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis (shoulder) practiced in a limited capacity all week as the team prepares for Week 17 against the Chiefs.
Analysis: Ellis gets a handful of sacks, but he doesn't do enough to merit consideration in most Fantasy IDP leagues. Reserve him regardless of his injury status.
News: Notable Jets defenders from the team's Week 15 game at New England include: CB David Barrett and LB David Harris (eight total tackles), DE Shaun Ellis (four solo tackles, one sack) and CB Darrelle Revis (five total tackles, interception). DL David Bowens also scored on a blocked punt.
Analysis: Of these players, only Harris, Ellis and maybe Revis are worth Fantasy consideration. The Jets play at the Titans in Week 16.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis totaled five tackles (four solo), two sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery during a Week 11 win against the Steelers. He now has 40 tackles and four sacks in 10 games.
Analysis: Ellis jas sacks in just three games this season and doesn't always fill the stat sheet. He is nothing more than a low-end Fantasy DL at this juncture.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis had three tackles Sunday against the Bengals.
Analysis: Ellis is a low-end DL in IDP leagues and should only be used if needed Week 8 against Buffalo.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis (foot) is listed as questionable for Week 7 at Cincinnati. Ellis went through limited practice reps all week. Ellis has 22 tackles and two sacks through six games.
Analysis: Ellis has failed to repeat his double-digit sack performances of 2003 and 2004 in 2005 and 2006. He is not on track at this point to reach that plateau in 2007. Consider him nothing more than a low-end Fantasy DL when healthy. Barring any setbacks, Ellis should play against the Bengals, but this is a situation you will have to follow up to inactives.
News: Jets DL Shaun Ellis (foot) went through limited practice reps Wednesday and Thursday as the team prepares for Week 7 at Cincinnati.
Continue to monitor his progress.

News: Jets DE Shaun Ellis looked sharp against the Vikings, with two sacks, including one on which he forced and recovered a fumble by former teammate Brooks Bollinger. However, Ellis was more concerned with the fact that the Jets' first-team defense allowed a long touchdown drive for the second consecutive game, reports The Sports Xchange. "You really can't take anything away from this game," said Ellis. "I think Minnesota just did a great job attacking us. We've just got to be more aware of what teams are doing to us. We just have to tackle better."
Analysis: Ellis is a decent No. 2 DL in IDP leagues or a useful reserve as the season goes on.

Askew (foot), DB David Barrett (hip), LB Matt Chatham (foot), DB Eric Smith (foot), DL Bryan Thomas (shoulder) and DB Rashad Washington (illness) are questionable, while DB Andre Dyson (thigh), DL Shaun Ellis (ankle), WR Justin McCareins (foot), DL Rashad Moore (hand) and WR Brad Smith (shoulder) are listed as probable for Week 14 vs. Buffalo.

Analysis: Ellis has two sacks on the season and both of them came in Week 4 against the Colts. Ellis had a poor 2005 season after getting 10-plus sacks in 2003 and 2004. Despite the slow start, consider Ellis a No. 2 DL in IDP leagues against Cleveland in Week 8.
