News: The Falcons released quarterback Chris Redman on Tuesday and replaced him on the roster with Luke McCown, the team announced. McCown was waived by the Saints on Monday and will serve as the backup quarterback to starter Matt Ryan to begin the upcoming season.
Analysis: The long-tenured Redman, 35, spent five seasons with Atlanta and served primarily in mop-up duty. In seven total seasons, Redman has completed 286 of 500 passes for 3,179 yards with 21 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Continue to ignore him in all Fantasy formats for now.
News: The Atlanta Falcons got off to a low-key start in free agency, agreeing to terms on new deals with backup quarterback Chris Redman. Redman has been Matt Ryan's backup the past four years. Last season, the second-stringer appeared in five games, completing 18 of 28 passes for 188 yards.
Analysis: We hope we never see Redman start games for the Falcons as it would mean that something's happened to Matt Ryan. Redman obviously shouldn't be drafted at this time.
News: Falcons backup QB Chris Redman saw his first action of the 2011 season when starting QB Matt Ryan left briefly in the third quarter with ankle and knee injuries Week 7 at Detroit. Ryan was taken to the locker room for the change of possession and hadn't returned at the start of the Falcons' next series. But Redman was needed for only two plays -- a handoff and an incomplete pass.
Analysis: Sunday's close call serves as a reminder that Redman is just one bad break away from taking over as the Falcons' starting quarterback. He has been adequate when filling in for Ryan in the past but wouldn't be an especially good Fantasy option in such a role. Because Ryan was able to return from this injury, Redman should remain on waivers in all Fantasy leagues.
News: Falcons QB Chris Redman replaced Matt Ryan at the beginning of the fourth quarter Week 17 against the Panthers with his team sporting a 31-3 lead. Redman completed 4 of 6 passes for 20 yards.
Analysis: Redman only got into the game once Atlanta had a comfortable lead. He didn't attempt a pass all season as Ryan was healthy. If Redman is back as Ryan's backup in 2011, then he won't have any Fantasy value. Track his offseason progress, but we don't envision Redman as being a player to bother with on Draft Day.
News: The Atlanta Falcons plan to sign backup quarterback Chris Redman to a contract extension. Redman first joined the Falcons in 2007, and went 0-2 as a starter last year filling in for former NFL offensive rookie of the year Matt Ryan. Redman is 4-8 in his career.
Analysis: Redman isn't worth sweating unless Matt Ryan gets hurt. Keep him off of Fantasy rosters.
News: Atlanta QB Chris Redman entered late in the Week 16 game against the Bills with the Falcons comfortably ahead. Redman did not throw a pass as the Falcons ran out the clock. He rushed twice for 1 yard.
Analysis: Starting QB Matt Ryan is healthy and expected to start Week 17 at Tampa Bay. Redman should be left on waivers in all leagues as such.
News: Falcons WR Eric Weems, RB Aaron Stecker, TE Joe Zelenka, TE Justin Peelle and QB Chris Redman all dressed for a Week 15 win over the Jets but failed to record an offensive stat.
Analysis: None of these players have any real Fantasy value heading into Week 16 vs. Buffalo. Continue to ignore them.
News: Falcons QB Matt Ryan (toe) will start in Week 15 at the Jets.
Analysis: The Falcons have already been eliminated from playoff contention, so the decision to start a less-than-100-percent Ryan is a little odd. Anyway, Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez's owners will be hoping Ryan's returns means a boost in their value, although White will be blanketed by Darrelle Revis. Consider Ryan a No. 2 Fantasy option, but certainly a risky one. If you own Chris Redman, you will now need to look elsewhere.
News: ESPN reports that Falcons QB Matt Ryan (toe) will start in Week 15 at the Jets. He has missed the last two games with this injury.

News: Falcons QB Matt Ryan (toe) was limited in practice for a second straight session Friday and is listed as questionable for Week 15 at the Jets.
Analysis: When healthy, Ryan should be considered a No. 2 Fantasy QB, but this is a tough matchup for him since the Jets are No. 1 in pass defense. If Ryan doesn't play then Chris Redman would make his third start.
News: Falcons QB Matt Ryan returned to practice Thursday and received limited reps. When asked if he could give the odds on playing Sunday at the Jets, Ryan replied, "Nope." But he added he hopes he'll be ready. "I'd love to be able to go but we're not to Sunday quite yet," he said. After missing two weeks of practice, WR Roddy White said Ryan "looked pretty good" in his return. "He's out there firing the ball out there, controlling the huddle, telling everyone to huddle up," White said. "We haven't heard his voice in a minute."
Analysis: This is a good sign that Ryan was able to practice, and we'll see what happens Friday and his status for Sunday's game. When healthy, Ryan should be considered a No. 2 Fantasy QB, but this is a tough matchup for him since the Jets are No. 1 in pass defense. If Ryan doesn't play then Chris Redman would make his third start.
News: Atlanta QB Chris Redman had his best performance since taking over for Matt Ryan as the teams QB on Sunday in a Week 13 loss to the Saints. Redman completed 23 of the 34 passes he attempted in the contest, throwing for 303 yards. He had a 50-yard TD pass to Michael Jenkins in the third quarter and was also intercepted by Jonathan Vilma in the fourth quarter, which was a costly turnover. Redman has two touchdowns and three interceptions in his two starts in place of Ryan.
Analysis: Redman wasnt guaranteed the start on Sunday coming into the game, but he seemed like a pretty sure thing to get the start with Ryan still not able to practice. He has filled in for Ryan admirably and the offense looked pretty good against a tough Saints defense. Redman will certainly be tested in Week 15 at the Jets. New York has the top pass defense in the league and Redman should not be used in most formats for that contest if he again gets the start. Be sure to monitor Ryans injury status in practice during the week.
News: Atlanta QB Matt Ryan will sit out Week 14 against the Saints as expected due to turf toe. Chris Redman will start in Ryan's place.
Analysis: Redman is no better than a No. 2 Fantasy QB against a solid Saints secondary. Look for a better replacement for Ryan than Redman (Alex Smith, Vince Young and Jason Campbell all stand out). Ryan should remain benched in all Fantasy leagues.
News: ESPN reports that the Falcons will start Chris Redman and not Matt Ryan vs. the Saints on Sunday. Ryan continues to be limited by a turf toe injury.
Analysis: Redman is no better than a No. 2 Fantasy QB against a solid Saints secondary. Assuming Ryan is indeed inactive, look for a better replacement for him than Redman (Alex Smith, Vince Young and Jason Campbell all stand out). Ryan should remain benched in all Fantasy leagues.
News: Falcons QB Matt Ryan sat out another practice Thursday because of a toe injury, making it increasingly unlikely he'll be able to play against the unbeaten New Orleans Saints. While Ryan went through a walkthrough, which wasn't open to the media, he wasn't even at the indoor practice facility for the more than two-hour workout. Still, coach Mike Smith said the team isn't ready to say for sure that Ryan won't play Sunday. Chris Redman ran the first-team offense. Ryan hurt the big toe on his right foot in a Nov. 29 victory over Tampa Bay. He sat out last weekend's game against Philadelphia, along with four other offensive starters, and the Falcons lost 34-7 to severely damage their playoff hopes.
Analysis: It appears like Redman will get another start against the Saints. Keep Ryan reserved in all leagues and hope that he can return at some point before the end of the season. When healthy, Ryan is a No. 2 Fantasy QB. Consider Redman a No. 2 option against the Saints.
News: Falcons QB Chris Redman started Sunday's game against the Eagles with Matt Ryan (toe) out and struggled in a losing effort. Redman was 23 of 44 passing for 235 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.
Analysis: We'll find out if Redman will start for Ryan again in Week 14 against New Orleans. If Redman does start consider him a No. 2 Fantasy QB.
News: Falcons QB Matt Ryan (toe) will not play in Week 13 against Philadelphia. He left Sunday's game against Tampa Bay with what has been officially diagnosed as turf toe. Chris Redman will start against the Eagles, and the team is comfortable with him under center. "Chris has got a lot of confidence in his ability and when he has had an opportunity to play in this league he has played effectively," head coach Mike Smith said. "I don't anticipate there is going to be a significant dropoff in the effectiveness of our offense."
Analysis: Redman played well against Tampa Bay once Ryan got hurt with 243 passing yards and two touchdowns. Redman also played well as a starter at the end of 2007 with 10 touchdowns and five interceptions in the final five games of the year. Redman doesn't have a great matchup against Philadelphia in Week 13, but the Eagles have allowed six touchdowns and three interceptions to opposing quarterbacks in their past three games against Philip Rivers, Jay Cutler and Jason Campbell. Redman is not a bad emergency replacement for Ryan since he has viable targets in Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez.
News: Atlanta QB Chris Redman entered the Week 12 game against the Bucs and engineered a comeback victory, 20-17, as starter Matt Ryan left with a toe injury. Redman was 23 of 41 passing for 243 yards and two touchdowns in the game with no interceptions. Redman threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Jerious Norwood in the 2nd quarter and hit Roddy White from 5 yards out for the game winner in the 4th. The throw to White was extremely clutch with only 23 second remaining on the clock.
Analysis: At this point, not enough is known about Ryans injury to determine whether or not hell play in Week 13 against the Eagles. Philadelphia has a solid pass defense and we probably wouldnt start Redman regardless of Ryans status for the game.
News: Atlanta had several players active for the game in Week 10 at Carolina but who did not pick up any stats. That list includes: FB Ovie Mughelli, FB Verron Haynes, WR Marty Booker, TE Keith Zinger, WR Troy Bergeron and backup QB Chris Redman.
Analysis: None of these players are worth owning in Fantasy play at this time. Leave them all on waivers for Week 11.

News: Falcons backup QB Chris Redman got some time under center late in a blowout win at San Francisco in Week 5. He kneeled twice, finishing with minus-1 rushing yards.
Analysis: As a backup quarterback, Redman doesn't figure to make an impact in Fantasy unless something happens to starter Matt Ryan. Leave him on waivers for Week 6 against the Bears.

News: Falcons TE Justin Peelle, FB Ovie Mughelli, WR Adam Jennings and backup QB Chris Redman all dressed for Atlanta's Week 4 loss to the Panthers but did not record an offensive statistic.
Analysis: None of these players have any Fantasy value right now, so continue to ignore them heading into Week 5 at Green Bay.
News: Falcons TE Ben Hartsock, RB Ovie Mughelli, RB Jason Snelling, WR Adam Jennings, WR Brian Finneran and QB Chris Redman all dressed, but failed to record an offensive stat Week 3 against the Chiefs.
Analysis: Most of these players are either reserves, play on special teams or aren't an integral part of the Falcons' offense. They have little to no Fantasy value heading into Week 4 against the Panthers.
News: The following Falcons did not record any offensive statistics in Week 2 at Tampa Bay: QB Chris Redman, WR RB J Snelling, WR Adam Jennings, WR Brian Finneran and TE Justin Peelle.
Analysis: None of the players on this list are going to be in line for considerable playing time anytime soon. Leave them on the waiver wire in all Fantasy leagues until further notice. They've got some depth chart climbing to do.
News: Atlanta QB Chris Redman was active for Sunday's Week 1 game against the Lions but did not see any action.
Analysis: Redman is the Falcons' No. 2 QB behind rookie Matt Ryan. Ryan looked sharp so it doesn't look like he'll be benched in favor of Redman anytime soon. The only way Redman sees the field is if the rookie gets hurt. Avoid him in Fantasy for now.
News: NFL Network reports that the Falcons are expected to name rookie QB Matt Ryan as their starting quarterback following his 15-of-21 passing game for 102 yards with a 1-yard scoring pass vs. Tennessee. In three preseason games, Ryan has completed 32-of-52 passes (61.5 pct.) for 277 yards (5.3 avg.) with two touchdowns, an interception and 9 rush yards. Ryan ousts veterans Chris Redman and Joey Harrington for the gig.
Analysis: With this news, neither Redman nor Harrington are worth owning in Fantasy play unless either one stumbles into regular playing time. Until further notice, keep both off your Fantasy roster.
News:Chris Redman, who finished last season as the Falcons' starting quarterback, led a 14-play, 90-yard touchdown drive in the fourth quarter during Friday's 17-3 preseason win against the Titans. He finished the game 9-of-11 for 83 yards. Redman is 15-of-21 for 152 yards in the preseason. He also has two interceptions.
Analysis: Redman does have a shot to be the Falcons' starting QB to open 2008, but rookie Matt Ryan has looked much better. Since Ryan is the future of the team, he might win the job right off the bat. If Redman somehow wins the job, he is nothing more than a No. 3 Fantasy QB.

News: Out of Atlanta's three possible starting quarterbacks this season, we guess you can say Matt Ryan played the best in Saturday's preseason game against the Colts. That's not saying much. Ryan completed 8-of-16 passes for 62 yards and an interception. Ryan entered the game after starter Joey Harrington finished his night. Harrington wasn't given much opportunity and completed 2-of-3 passes for 17 yards. He was, however, the only of the three not to throw a pick. Chris Redman entered after Ryan and completed 3-of-4 passes for 56 yards and an interception.
Analysis: Does nobody want to start for Atlanta this season? Ryan, you could say, looked the best and certainly has the brightest future for the Falcons. The only question with him is if he'd be ready to lead in his rookie year. He looks like he's the most efficient of the three anyway and we believe he'll be starting at some point this season, if not to start the year. If Harrington or Redman win the job, they'd be just No. 3 QB options. Ryan is definitely worth a look as a long-term sleeper and someone to consider as a high pick in rookie drafts.
News: The Falcons official team Web site reports that head coach Mike Smith announced Thursday that Joey Harrington would start Saturday's preseason game against the Colts at QB. "I think Joey's had a very good camp," Smith said. "I thought he made a number of throws last week in the game. He moved the offense and we were able to score 10 points with him as the quarterback." Smith declined to detail the rest of the rotation plans for Saturday's games. As of right now, Harrington is listed as No. 2 on Atlanta's depth chart behind Chris Redman.
Analysis: The fact remains that rookie Matt Ryan is the Falcons' QB of the future and is the only one with any real Fantasy value, albeit in keeper leagues. Ryan and Chris Redman are competing with Harrington to start this season but if Harrington or Redman win the job, they'd be just No. 3 QB options. Ryan is definitely worth a look as a long-term sleeper and someone to consider as a high pick in rookie drafts.
News: Atlanta QB Chris Redman made a strong case for rookie Matt Ryan to be the Falcons starting signal caller in 2008 on Saturday night against the Jaguars. Redman started the game and didn't play very well. He threw for 13 yards on 3-of-6 passing with an interception.
Analysis: Ryan is the quarterback of the future for the Falcons. The only concern with him is if he'll be ready as a rookie to start. That's why Redman was slated to start the year under center. Still, he didn't do himself any favors Saturday. Whether or not Redman is the Falcons' starter, he's at best a No. 3 Fantasy QB this season, not worth a pick outside of the deepest Fantasy Football leagues that start two quarterbacks. Ryan is definitely worth a look as a long-term sleeper and someone to consider as a high pick in rookie drafts. Shockley and Harrington are too far down the depth chart to be considered in Fantasy.
News:Chris Redman has edged rookie Matt Ryan and will start at quarterback in the Atlanta Falcons' preseason opener Saturday night at Jacksonville. Based on how often he has worked with the first-team offense in training camp, Ryan, the NFL's No. 3 overall draft pick, would likely be the first quarterback to replace Redman in the exhibition game. D.J. Shockley and Joey Harrington are essentially battling for the third-string job, but coach Mike Smith wants all four quarterbacks to play against the Jaguars.
Analysis: Whether or not Redman is the Falcons' starter, he's at best a No.
News: While rookie QB Matt Ryan is unquestionably the future of the Atlanta Falcons, Chris Redman is living very much in the present. He has every intention of being out on the field for the first snap of the season Sept. 7. Whoever lines up at quarterback will have a rookie left tackle (Sam Baker) protecting his back side, not to mention a second-year player (Justin Blaylock) at left guard and, quite possibly, two other starters (right tackle Tyson Clabo and right guard Harvey Dahl) who weren't even drafted out of college. Do the Falcons really want to put an untested rookie - especially a valuable investment such as Ryan, who received a six-year, $72 million contract - on the field behind that sort of line? Redman certainly wouldn't mind holding down the spot while Ryan develops from the safety of the sideline. "I think I've earned my respect around here," the incumbent starter said. "As long as I do my part, I'll be OK."
Analysis: Redman has worked with the first team during the opening week of training camp, with Ryan also getting plenty of snaps. In four starts last season, Redman completed 89-of-149 passes (59.7 pct.) for 1,079 yards with 10 touchdowns and five interceptions and a fumble lost. Whether or not Redman is the Falcons' starter, he's at best a No. 3 Fantasy QB this season, not worth a pick outside of the deepest Fantasy Football leagues that start two quarterbacks.
News: Many teams try to give rookie quarterbacks a year to watch and learn. For the Falcons, there may be no reason for patience. The sooner the transition to the Matt Ryan era can begin, the better for the team to move past the Michael Vick era. Ryan doesn't seem concerned about talk he could play or even start in the opening game. "I think that's certainly the goal, to prepare to play, to do everything you can to be on the field and play," he said. "That's what I'm going to do. I think I did well picking things up in minicamp. I know there's still a lot to learn. I think I've done pretty well so far." The Falcons tried Joey Harrington, Byron Leftwich and Chris Redman as starters last year. Ryan could surpass Redman as the starter with a strong showing in training camp. Harrington also returns.
Analysis: Redman would have more Fantasy value at this point than Ryan if he was named the starter. It's not guaranteed that Ryan will start, so keep an eye on the competition. But don't plan on drafting Redman in any Fantasy leagues at this point.
News: When the Falcons selected QB Matt Ryan with the No. 3 pick in the NFL draft it signaled that Chris Redman's days as the starter are numbered. He had just made the long climb back up the NFL ladder from being out of the league to becoming a starter again. Now he's likely headed back to a reserve role. While the Falcons staff doesn't plan to just give Ryan the starting job, No. 3 picks don't sit for very long. Redman understands his plight. "I kind of like being the underdog," he said. "It's been like that my whole career." With the Falcons scrambling to replace Michael Vick last season, Redman eventually rose to the No. 1 position. He finished the season with a dazzling four-touchdown passing performance in a win over Seattle.
Analysis: Look for Redman to remain the starter, at least for the beginning of the season. Keep an eye on what happens during training camp, but consider Redman the best Fantasy option for 2008.
News: The Falcons drafted QB Matt Ryan with the No. 3 overall selection in the 2008 NFL Draft. Ryan will come in with the expectation to compete with Chris Redman and Joey Harrington. But it's unlikely that Ryan will open mini-camp with the No. 1 offense. Redman and Harrington are currently listed as Atlanta's first- and second-string quarterbacks, and the Falcons are likely to bring Ryan along slowly. No one know how long before Ryan takes charge of the offense, but new coach Mike Smith believes the team's new centerpiece will have a short learning curve. "Matt is a very passionate football player," Smith said. "In the NFL, the last two to three minutes are crunch time, and that's when games are won and lost. You can see Matt's passion and how he brought his team back to victory. That's the kind of player we want on our football team."
Analysis: Look for Redman to remain the starter, at least for the beginning of the season. Harrington will likely stay at No. 2, and Ryan will open as the No. 3 QB. Keep an eye on what happens during training camp, but consider Redman the best Fantasy option for 2008.
News: With the No. 3 overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons selected Boston College QB Matt Ryan, filling an important need for the club. Ryan was a leader at BC and will fill the same role for the Falcons, albeit not on the field in 2008 as Chris Redman and Joey Harrington will likely vie for the starting job in 2008.
Analysis: Ryan has a lot of ideal intangibles (leadership, measurables, intelligence) but doesn't have the talent of most other quarterbacks picked this high in drafts. In the long run, he'll be the starting QB for the Falcons, but not in 2008 (and if he does play, there shouldn't be too much expected from him statistically). Fantasy owners in standard leagues can pretty much ignore Ryan, but owners in keeper leagues should grab him with a late-round pick. In rookie-only drafts, Ryan is worth a first-round choice, but nowhere close to No. 1 overall.
News: Falcons QB Chris Redman finished last season as the starting quarterback and took snaps with the first-team offense on Monday, the club's first day of an early minicamp session. Joey Harrington and D.J. Shockley are also on the roster, and the club is expected to spend a draft pick on a quarterback in the 2008 NFL Draft.
Analysis: After a three-year hiatus, Chris Redman re-entered the NFL with his ex-college coach, Bobby Petrino. However, once Petrino left the Falcons, Redman was left as the starting quarterback after Joey Harrington and Byron Leftwich proved to be ineffective. In four starts, Redman completed 89-of-149 passes (59.7 pct.) for 1,079 yards with 10 touchdowns and five interceptions and a fumble lost. He also had 16 rush yards. He'll compete for the starting job with the Falcons, possibly with a rookie QB, but he won't be worth considering for Fantasy use in 2008.
News: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the Falcons and QB Chris Redman have agreed to a two-year deal, according to his agent.

News: New Falcons head coach Mike Smith, who spent the last four years as defensive coordinator in Jacksonville, acknowledged Thursday that Atlanta has problems that aren't easily dismissed. He was noncommittal when asked about the four quarterbacks currently on the roster, Byron Leftwich, Joey Harrington, Chris Redman and D.J. Shockley. "I haven't studied those guys or met with them," Smith said. "Before too long, I plan to sit and meet with each of them. I know Byron from our time together in Jacksonville, and when I worked with the Ravens, Chris was a third-round draft pick. But we'll figure out the quarterback situation soon enough."
Analysis: Leftwich would likely have the edge to start, although Redman played well down the stretch. Harrington is best suited as a backup, and Shockley is a long-shot to be an NFL starter. Go into 2008 with the Falcons' QB situation up in the air, and consider the winner of the competition -- unless they bring in someone else -- a backup option in all Fantasy leagues.

Redman is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
Analysis: Redman won't go on to start anywhere, but his '07 play might buy him a shot at being a backup with another club in 2008. Ultimately, forget about him being a Fantasy option in 2008.
News: Atlanta QB Chris Redman was 17-of-27 passing for 251 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions Sunday against Seattle. He also had five carries for 10 yards.
Analysis: Redman will enter 2008 trying to win a job as the Falcons starting QB. More than likely, Redman will be a backup for Atlanta or somewhere else. Don't plan on drafting Redman next year.
News: Falcons QB Chris Redman completed 28 of 42 passes for 315 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in Atlanta's 30-27 overtime loss to the Cardinals in Week 16.
Analysis: Redman rebounded nicely from one of the worst starts in NFL history in Week 15, in which he went 4-of-15 for 34 yards with two interceptions, but couldn't lead his Falcons to victory. He will be a No. 3 Fantasy QB in Week 17 against the Seahawks, so start him at your peril.
News: According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Falcons interim coach Emmitt Thomas reiterated that Chris Redman will remain at QB Sunday at Arizona.
Analysis: Redman has minimal Fantasy value at this point and should not be used in Fantasy leagues against the Cardinals.
News: Falcons QB Chris Redman completed just 4 of 15 passes in Week 15 at Tampa Bay, finishing with only 34 yards. He was intercepted twice and also lost a fumble.
Analysis: Redman couldn't be less productive to Fantasy owners if he was trying to be. At this point, we can't think of a reason to start Redman in Fantasy play at this late juncture of the season. If a Fantasy owner in your league is starting him for Week 16 at Arizona, collusion accusations should follow.
News: The Falcons have confirmed that coach Bobby Petrino resigned on Tuesday, reportedly to pursue a job as a college coach. The Falcons hired him away from the college ranks in the offseason, but at the time, he had expected to inherit a team headed by star QB Michael Vick, who was sentenced to 23 months in prison Monday on dogfighting charges.
Analysis: This news totally blindsides the Falcons and Chris Redman's Fantasy owners. How the players respond to the loss of their coach is anybody's guess. The Buccaneers boast a tough pass defense, so we wouldn't recommend using Redman in Fantasy against them, but monitor his progress because he could develop into a serviceable Fantasy backup over the season's final weeks.
News: Falcons QB Chris Redman lofted two touchdown passes and threw for nearly 300 yards in his first start in over five years Week 14 against the Saints, building off his fine relief performance in Week 13. He finished 23-for-40 passing for 298 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. His scores went for 33 yards to Roddy White and 13 yards to Michael Jenkins. He also ran once for four yards.
Analysis: Redman became the third quarterback to start for the Falcons this season, and he didn't do anything wrong enough to suggest he won't retain the title Week 15 at Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers boast a tough pass defense, so we wouldn't recommend using Redman in Fantasy against them, but monitor his progress because he could develop into a serviceable Fantasy backup over the season's final weeks.
News: Another week, another change at quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons. Coach Bobby Petrino announced Thursday that Chris Redman, who was out of the league the last three seasons, will start against the New Orleans Saints after a strong performance in relief of Joey Harrington. With Byron Leftwich still hurting and Harrington clearly not the answer, the Falcons (3-9) had little choice except to go with a quarterback who was selling insurance a year ago in their Monday night game against the Saints. "It's been different. There's no doubt about that," Petrino said. "We haven't had the continuity that you normally have."
Analysis: Redman will be the third player to start at quarterback for the Falcons, who have yet to come up with a replacement for Michael Vick. This is the third time that Harrington has lost the No. 1 job, and Leftwich has yet to make it through a full game in his two starts, going down with ankle and tailbone injuries. Redman replaced Harrington at the start of the fourth quarter last Sunday with the Falcons trailing 21-3 at St. Louis. The backup completed 16-of-24 passes for 172 yards and two touchdowns in a 28-16 loss. "I did it for one quarter," he said. "Now I've got to show I can do it for four quarters." Redman is worth adding in all Fantasy leagues and could be a decent sleeper this week. Consider him a solid No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: Atlanta QB Chris Redman is expected to start in Week 14 against New Orleans and has a favorable matchup. The Saints are No. 28 in pass defense with 21 passing touchdowns allowed. Redman, who came on for an ineffective Joey Harrington last week at St. Louis, was 16-of-24 for 172 yards with two touchdowns and an interception, all in the fourth quarter.
Analysis: Redman is worth adding in all Fantasy leagues and could be a decent sleeper this week. Consider him a solid No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: In the last six games, Falcons coach Bobby Petrino has made four changes at quarterback: from Joey Harrington to Byron Leftwich to Harrington for two starts, to Leftwich and then back to Harrington against the Rams. More changes could be coming. Petrino benched Harrington in the fourth quarter against the Rams, and backup Chris Redman threw touchdown passes on his first two possessions. Redman was 16-of-24 for 172 yards with an interception. After being out of football last season, Redman could make his first start since 2002 with Baltimore on Monday night against the New Orleans Saints. Petrino didn't announce his starting quarterback on Monday but indicated he might have news later in the week. "No, because the players aren't here today," Petrino said. "I'd like to visit with the players before we do anything."
Analysis: The Falcons appear to playing for their future, and it would make sense Redman would start against the Saints. Continue to monitor what develops, but Redman could be worth adding in deeper leagues this week since New Orleans is terrible against the pass.
News: Could we have another QB issue in Atlanta? Chris Redman, serving as a backup to Joey Harrington with Byron Letwich out with a tailbone injury, completed 16 of his 24 passes for 172 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in only a quarter of play. He entered the game at the beginning of the fourth quarter when Harrington was yanked by coach Bobby Petrino.
Analysis: Petrino has nothing to lose, so Redman could very well start in Week 14 at home against the Saints, but Leftwich could also be back. No Falcons QB is worth starting in Fantasy play at this time, however, so stay well away from this group.

Analysis: None of these players makes enough of a statistical impact to have value in Fantasy. Leave all on waivers for Week 13 at St. Louis.
News: The Falcons's list of inactives for Week 11 against the Buccaneers includes QB Chris Redman, RB Artose Pinner, TE Courtney Anderson and DL Tim Anderson.
Analysis: None of these players makes enough of a statistical impact to have Fantasy value even when healthy. The Falcons host the Colts in Week 12, playing on Thanksgiving Day.

Analysis: Redman is not in a position to help Fantasy owners and should be left on the waiver wire until further notice.
News: Falcons QB Chris Redman, FB Corey McIntyre and WR Adam Jennings did not record an offensive stat in Week 9 vs. San Francisco.
Analysis: None of these players is in a position to help your Fantasy team at this time and they should all be left on the waiver wire until further notice.
News: The Falcons list of inactives for Week 7 at New Orleans includes QB Chris Redman, RB Corey McIntyre, LB Stephen Nicholas and DL Montavious Stanley.
Analysis: All four rank too low on the Falcons depth chart or play too small a role on defense to have any Fantasy value. The Falcons have a bye in Week 8 before playing the 49ers in Week 9.
News: Falcons fullback Corey McIntyre, TE Dwayne Blakley and QB Chris Redman didn't record meaningful statistics in Week 6's 31-10 loss against the Giants.
Analysis: These players either sit low on the depth chart or do more blocking than catching and running. Keep all on the waiver wire for Week 7 at New Orleans.
News: Falcons QB Chris Redman, WR Adam Jennings and fullback Corey McIntyre didn't record meaningful statistics in Week 5 at the Titans.
Analysis: All three are reserves and don't deserve consideration in Fantasy. The Falcons host the Giants in Week 6.
News: Falcons TE Martrez Milner, RB Ovie Mughelli, RB Corey McIntyre and QB Chris Redman didn't record meaningful statistics in Week 4's 26-16 win over visiting Houston.
Analysis: Mughelli is a fullback who mostly blocks. Milner, McIntyre and Redman are all reserves who should remain on the waiver wire for Week 5 at the Titans.
News: Falcons WR Laurent Robinson, QB Chris Redman, RB Artose Pinner and RB Corey McIntyre didn't record meaningful statistics in the Falcons' Week 3 loss against the Panthers.
Analysis: All four players rank low on the Falcons depth chart and have no Fantasy value. Keep them reserved Week 4 against the Texans.
News: Falcons RB Artose Pinner, RB Corey McIntyre, and QB Chris Redman didn't make a statistical contribution during Week 1's 24-3 loss at the Vikings.
Analysis: Pinner and Redman are reserves who won't record statistics unless an injury occurs. McIntyre is a fullback who, by design, won't ever contribute useful statistics. Keep all reserved in Week 2 at the Jaguars.
News: With all the uncertainty surrounding Michael Vick, movement on the Falcons' depth chart at quarterback isn't surprising. This time, it's at the bottom. Based on his erratic play in Atlanta's preseason opener last week, D.J. Shockley has dropped to third. Shockley is trying to beat out Chris Redman for the No. 2 job behind starter Joey Harrington, but he had a mediocre debut against the New York Jets. "I think mostly he just wasn't in a comfort zone, was off-balance a couple of times and moved in the pocket," Falcons coach Bobby Petrino said Tuesday. "But he settled down. He's had some good practices here in the last couple of days, so hopefully it'll be a different story."
Analysis: Redman and Shockley are low-end Fantasy options and should not be drafted in any league this year.
News: The Tennessean reports QB Chris Redman has signed with Tennessee and will play as the third stringer in their third preseason game against the 49ers.
Analysis: Redman has no Fantasy value at this point.

Analysis: Neither Redman or Wright are useful players from a Fantasy perspective, especially against the Dolphins fierce defensive unit.
News: Chris Redman will start in place of Kyle Boller (torn left quadriceps) in Week 11 at Miami. Redman will likely finish the season as the starter, with Boller expected to miss the remainder of the season.
Analysis: Redman is not a useful Fantasy starter in most leagues. Anthony Wright will serve as the primary backup and might push for the starters job if Redman struggles.

Analysis: Redman is not a useful Fantasy player in most leagues.

Analysis: Redman is not a recommended Fantasy starter.
News: Chris Redman is no longer the starting quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens. Kyle Boller was announced as the new starter by head coach Brian Billick on Saturday.
Analysis: Redman is not worth a late pick in most Fantasy leagues.
News: The Baltimore Sun says all signs are pointing towards Kyle Boller being named Baltimore's starting QB over Chris Redman, who was 1-for-6 for 11 yards in Thursday's preseason finale.
Analysis: Even if Redman gets a chance to start at some point, he won't be a quality Fantasy QB.
News: The Baltimore Sun notes Chris Redman threw 60 passes on Wednesday, almost all of them with the first team. His workload should decrease now that Kyle Boller has signed.
Analysis: The Ravens also signed Matt Lytle, who won't be a factor in the QB race. Redman will compete with Boller and Anthony Wright for the starting job, but none of the three will be anything more than a reserve in yearly leagues.
News: Chris Redman is considered to be the leading candidate to be the Ravens' starting QB, but Brian Billick says the competition might last throughout the preseason. "I very well may not determine the starter until the Sunday we play [the season opener in] Pittsburgh for competitive purposes," Billick told the Baltimore Sun.
Analysis: Kyle Boller remains unsigned, giving Redman an added edge in the race. None of the three Baltimore QBs, however, will be anything more than a Fantasy backup this year.
News: Redman is being considered the favorite to win the No. 1 quarterback spot, according to the Baltimore Sun. He will compete with rookie Kyle Boller for the job during training camp. Coach Brian Billick said Redman has looked strong and is throwing the ball with more zip than he did before undergoing back surgery.
Analysis:
News: Redman has re-signed with the Baltimore Ravens. He will compete with Kyle Boller during training camp to be the team's starting quarterback. Even if he wins the job, Redman will be no better than a Fantasy reserve.
Analysis:

Analysis:

Analysis:
News: Redman (back) is questionable for Week 15. The Baltimore Sun says he will be healthy enough to be Jeff Blake's backup. "He's not cleared to start a game and go the whole distance, yet he is cleared to be the backup," said Brian Billick. Redman has no Fantasy value in yearly leagues right now.
Analysis:
News: Redman will remain a backup to Jeff Blake for the rest of the season. Redman is not worth a roster spot on Fantasy teams. He is listed as questionable for Week 14 with a chest injury.
Analysis:
News: Redman was Baltimore's No. 2 QB in Week 13. The Baltimore Sun says Brian Billick gave no indication he would start in Week 14. "The fact that he was No. 2 this week was a very good sign," Billick said.
Analysis:
News: Redman might be used as the emergency quarterback in Week 13. However, his back is still very stiff and might keep him from starting a game again this season.
Analysis:
News: Redman (back) might be placed on injured reserve next week. "If Chris is not quicker to progress, we may have to address that," coach Brian Billick told the Baltimore Sun. "At some point, he either starts to turn the corner or we say this has lingered long enough." Jeff Blake will continue to start in Redman's absence.
Analysis:
News: Redman (back) might miss another three weeks. There are also no guarantees that the starting job will be waiting for him when he returns. Jeff Blake has played well in Redman's place, and he might remain the starter for the rest of the season, and possibly longer. Redman is still feeling shooting pain in his leg, which is why Billick is planning on using Blake well into December.
Analysis:
News: Redman (back) is out for Week 10. Jeff Blake will once again start for Redman, who might serve as the emergency quarterback against Cincinnati.
Analysis:
News: Redman (back) is out for Week 9. He continues to feel discomfort from the disc hitting a nerve in his lower back, and might be out for another week. Jeff Blake will start for Baltimore in his absence.
Analysis:
News: Redman (back) did not play in Week 8. He was replaced by Jeff Blake. Redman is only worth a roster spot as a reserve in larger Fantasy leagues.
Analysis:
News: Redman (back) is listed as a gametime decision for Week 8. According to the Baltimore Sun, Redman's back stiffened up overnight, and he did not participate in Saturday's walk through. If Redman is unable to play, Jeff Blake will get the call. Neither quarterback is worth starting on most Fantasy teams.
Analysis:
News: Redman has quietly emerged as a respectable Fantasy backup. But he might not post good numbers against a Steelers defense that has been playing well in recent weeks.
Analysis:
News: Redman passed for 152 yards and two touchdowns Monday against Denver. Don't expect this kind of production from him on a weekly basis. Redman is very inconsistent and will struggle against the better defenses in the game.
Analysis:
News: Baltimore receivers Travis Taylor and Brandon Stokely are injured and uncertain for Monday's game. The Ravens might deploy a two-tight end, two-running back set, using Ron Johnson as the lone wideout. This formation doesn't bode well for Redman's production this week. He is not a recommended starter.
Analysis:
News: Redman threw for 141 yards with no touchdowns on Sunday. Redman, who also threw one interception, does not warrant a roster spot on Fantasy teams.
Analysis:
News: Redman played poorly again on Thursday. He completed just 6-of-12 passes for 47 yards with one interception. Coach Brian Billick is sticking with Redman as his starter, but Jeff Blake might emerge during the regular season. Neither player is worth drafting at this point.

Analysis:
News: Redman went 10-of-20 for 93 yards and an interception on Friday night. He has no experience as a starting quarterback and will warrant very little consideration on Draft Day.
Analysis:
News: According to The Baltimore Sun, Redman has looked good during minicamp. He seems to have matured as a player and is more relaxed under center. "You can clearly see that Chris has taken control of the offense," coach Brian Billick said. "They're looking for him to take that direction." Redman will enter the 2002 season as the Ravens' starter, but he'll have to prove himself before he's considered anything more than a reserve in Fantasy circles.
Analysis:
News: According to published reports, head coach Brian Billick has named Chris Redman the team's starting quarterback in 2002. However, don't be surprised if Billick signs another quarterback, possibly Randall Cunningham, to compete with Redman during training camp. Redman has a strong arm, but his mobility is limited at best. He'll be a reserve quarterback at best from a Fantasy perspective.
Analysis:
News: According to the Baltimore Sun, Redman is still the No. 2 quarterback on the Ravens' depth chart. However, Head Coach Brian Billick is a bit concerned about his inconsistency during camp, and could promote Randall Cunningham if Redmond doesn't show signs of improvement. Neither Redmond nor Cunningham will make much of a Fantasy impact this season unless starting QB Elvis Grbac goes down with an injury.
Analysis:
News: Redman could be the backup QB for Sunday's playoff game against the Broncos. Head coach Brian Billick seemed optimistic that injured quarterback Tony Banks (separated left shoulder) will be the Ravens' backup Sunday, but he did discuss Redman as the alternate plan. "Chris Redman obviously moves up, and that would be a great opportunity for him under some real interesting circumstances," Billick told the The Baltimore Sun. "If Chris needed to be the No. 2, he's been around all year long, and he'll have to step up and do that."
Analysis:
News: Redman was called upon during the fourth quarter of Sunday's game against Cleveland, although he did not attempt a pass. Unless Baltimore runs away with any of its next three games, he will likely not see any more action this season.
Analysis:
News: Despite the quarterback switch in Baltimore, Coach Brian Billick said that Redman is "not a contingency" for the Ravens this season. He will continue to sit on the bench, although we'll be sure to check back if the Baltimore passing game stuggles much further.
