Raiders draft LB Kahlil Mack

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(5/8/2014) With the No. 5 pick in the NFL Draft, the Raiders selected linebacker Khalil Mack from the University of Buffalo.

Oakland was No. 22 in total defense in 2013. The Raiders had 38 sacks last year, which ranked No. 17, and they were No. 25 in Fantasy points.

Raiders add veteran LaMarr Woodley

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(3/13/2014) The Raiders beefed up their defense with another addition Thursday, as ESPN.com reports the team has agreed a two-year deal with free-agent linebacker LaMarr Woodley. The deal has a maximum value of $12 million, according to the report.

Woodley spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Steelers, recording three straight double-digit sack seasons. Unfortunately, injuries have limited the 29-year-old's effectiveness recently, as he finished the 2013 season with just five sacks in 11 games.

Raiders sign Justin Tuck

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(3/13/2014) Defensive end Justin Tuck signed with the Raiders on a two-year, $11 million deal, reports the New York Daily News.

The report says Tuck, who played for the Giants for nine seasons, even gave his former team the chance to match the offer. He had 11 sacks in 2013.

"Everyone talks about once you turn 30, it’s all downhill," Tuck said. "I don't believe in that. I don't look at myself in that regard. I feel like I have a lot of great football left in me."

Charles Woodson could retire if deal not right

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(2/28/2014) Defensive back Charles Woodson wants to return to the Raiders in 2014, and both general manager Reggie McKenzie and coach Dennis Allen have said they want the 16-year veteran back, reports ESPN.

But if Woodson does not receive what he considers a fair contract offer from Oakland he said he is ready to retire.

"If the right numbers don't come across, for myself and from the team's standpoint, then it's a serious consideration. ... I could have played my last season in the NFL," Woodson told SiriusXM NFL radio on Thursday. "So that's definitely something that I think about. I do plan on playing another year. Hopefully something can get done with the Raiders, but if not, then I've got to take a real hard look at last year being the last one."

Woodson, 37, played all but seven defensive snaps last season. He finished with 97 tackles, third on the team, with two sacks, an interception, three forced fumbles and two fumbles recoveries.

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(12/22/2013) The Raiders DST benefitted from San Diego's carelessness Week 16. Oakland pounced on a botched snap and a muffed punt for two of its three turnovers.

Raiders could have some issues against Kansas City

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

Oakland is coming off an abysmal performance against a lowly Jets offense. The Raiders allowed 352 yards of total offense and 37 points to the Jets. It was the third time this season that the Raiders have allowed 37-plus points. The last time the Raiders faced Kansas City, the defense surrendered 24 points and only 216 yards of total offense.

At this point, the Raiders have been way too inconsistent to rely on. Fantasy owners should consider alternative options moving forward.
