News: In the Lions' 47-10 loss vs. the Titans on Thanksgiving as part of Week 13 action, notable Lions defenders included: LB Ryan Nece (nine total tackles), LB Paris Lenon (eight total tackles), LB Ernie Sims (six total tackles) and DE Cliff Avril (three solo tackles, sack, forced fumble).
Analysis: Lenon and Sims are decent middle- to low-end options, and Avril should be a good player in the future. The Lions host the Vikings in Week 14.
News: Lions LB Paris Lenon (seven tackles), DB Kalvin Pearson (six tackles), LB Alex Lewis (five tackles), LB Ernie Sims (five tackles), LB Ryan Nece (four tackles, sack), DL Cliff Avril (sack) and DL Chartric Darby (sack) all helped out in a Week 12 loss to the Buccaneers.
Analysis: Lenon has some Fantasy value in deeper IDP Fantasy leagues, but the rest of these guys are not viable in Fantasy play. Detroit hosts Tennessee on Thanksgiving and none of the players in this list should be starting for that matchup.
News: Detroit LB Paris Lenon recorded six tackles against the Carolina Panthers in the Lions' Week 11 loss Sunday.
Analysis: Lenon now has 64 tackles and a sack this season for the Lions in 10 games. Lenon is considered a sleeper No. 2 LB in Fantasy IDP leagues. He's still probably not worth starting in Week 12 against Tampa Bay.
News: Detroit LB Paris Lenon led the Lions in tackles in Week 8's loss to Washington. Lenon totaled nine tackles in the game.
Analysis: Lenon has 43 tackles on the season for the Lions. Lenon is considered a sleeper No. 2 LB in Fantasy IDP leagues. He's still probably not worth starting in Week 9 at Chicago.
News: The Lions didn't get much from their defensive players Sunday against Green Bay. LB Ernie Sims had five tackles, LB Paris Lenon had seven tackles, DL Dewayne White had four tackles and a sack, DB Leigh Bodden had three tackles and LB Jordon Dizon had one tackle.
Analysis: Only Sims, Bodden and White are worth using in Week 3 at San Francisco.
News: Detroit LB Paris Lenon had to be helped off the field late in the fourth quarter of Week 1 against the Falcons after suffering an apparent leg injury.
Analysis: Lenon was considered a sleeper No. 2 LB in Fantasy IDP leagues and was the guy who wore the microphone in his helmet for the Lions. It isn't known the extent of the injury yet, but he wasn't able to walk off on his own power, which isn't good news.
News: Six-year NFL veteran Paris Lenon finally broke through with the Lions in 2007, totaling 118 tackles (88 solo) with two sacks, an interception returned for a touchdown, three passes defensed and two forced fumbles. Lenon was the middle linebacker for the Lions' 'Tampa-2' defensive scheme last season.
Analysis: Lenon is easy on the salary cap and entering 2008 in a contract year. Assuming the Lions don't change their LB corps much, pencil in Lenon as a sleeper No. 2 Fantasy option in 2008 league play.
News: The Lions allowed over 400 yards of total offense in Week 16 vs. Kansas City, giving up 20 points in the process. They forced one turnover in the game -- an interception that was returned 61 yards for a touchdown by Paris Lenon -- and had three sacks.
Analysis: Lenon also had seven tackles in the game. He remains a low-end Fantasy starting LB in IDP formats, though, for Week 17 at the Packers.
News: Notable Lions defenders from Week 15 at San Diego include: DB Gerald Alexander (15 total tackles), DB Kenoy Kennedy (11 total tackles), LB Paris Lenon (seven solo tackles) and CB Travis Fisher (seven total tackles). Ernie Sims had just three solo tackles.
Analysis: Of these defenders, only Sims is worth starting in all IDP leagues. Lenon and Kennedy are low-end options. The Lions host the Chiefs in Week 16.
News: Detroit LB Paris Lenon had four tackles Sunday against Dallas.
Analysis: Lenon has minimal Fantasy value and should not be used in Week 15 at San Diego.
News: Lions LB Paris Lenon had nine tackles Sunday at Minnesota.
Analysis: Lenon has minimal Fantasy value but is worth using as a No. 3 LB in IDP leagues against Dallas in Week 14.
News: LB Paris Lenon had six tackles on Thanksgiving Day against Green Bay in Week 12.
Analysis: Lenon has 84 tackles on the season and we recommend starting him as a No. 2 or 3 LB in all IDP leagues at Minnesota in Week 13. He has recorded double-digit tackles in four games this season.
News: Notable Lions defenders from Week 11 vs. the Giants include: CB Fernando Bryant (seven total tackles), DB Kenoy Kennedy (eight total tackles, forced fumble), LB Ernie Sims (12 total tackles), LB Boss Bailey (six total tackles, sack) and DE Kalimba Edwards (four solo tackles, one sack). LB Paris Lenon also had a forced fumble.
Analysis: Of these players, only Sims and Kennedy are decent IDP options. The Lions host the Packers on Thanksgiving Day as part of Week 12 action.
News: Detroit LB Paris Lenon had five tackles Sunday against Denver.
Analysis: Lenon is a low-end No. 2 LB in IDP leagues and is worth using in Week 10 at Arizona.
News: Lions LB Paris Lenon had nine tackles Sunday against Tampa Bay.
Analysis: Lenon is a low-end LB in IDP leagues and should only be used if needed. Hopefully he can continue to play well in Week 8 against Chicago.
News: Lions LB Paris Lenon had seven tackles Sunday against Washington.
Analysis: Lenon is a low-end LB in IDP leagues and should not be used in Week 7 against Tampa Bay unless needed. The Lions have a bye in Week 6.
News: Lions defenders who played well in Week 4 vs. Chicago include: LB Paris Lenon (10 total tackles, sack), LB Ernie Sims (11 total tackles, interception, forced fumble), CB Fernando Bryant (eight total tackles, interception), DE Jared DeVries (six solo tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles) and DT Shaun Rogers (five total tackles, sack). CB Keith Smith had an interception-return for a touchdown and Kenoy Kennedy had four total tackles.
Analysis: Of these players, Sims and Kennedy are the only reliable IDP options for Week 5 when the Lions play the Redskins.
News: LB Ernie Sims and DB Gerald Alexander led the Lions in tackles with eight each during Detroit's 56-21 loss to the Eagles in Week 3. Sacks came via DE Langston Moore, DE Corey Smith and LB Paris Lenon, while DB Idrees Bashir recovered two fumbles.
Analysis: Sims is the only player in this update with any Fantasy value, and he is no more than a reserve LB in IDP leauges. He should remain benched for Detroit's Week 4 game with the Bears.
News: Lions LB Paris Lenon led all tacklers Week 1 against the Raiders. He amassed 11 tackles (nine solo).
Analysis: Lenon is coming off two solid seasons and could be in for another big year as the Lions' middle linebacker. He remains a low-end Fantasy IDP option at this time.
News: The Lions will have to do some juggling with their linebacking corps in the game Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. The loss of SLB Alex Lewis for at least one game with a sprained left knee set off a chain reaction that could affect several teammates. With Lewis out, Paris Lenon will move from the starting MLB to Lewis' strong-side position and Boss Bailey, who was being brought back slowly from an off-season ankle surgery, will get his first start of the season at MLB. Rookie Ernie Sims will remain at the weak-side linebacker position but backups LaVar Woods and rookie Anthony Cannon are expected to get additional playing time.
Analysis: The loss of Lewis isn't severe, but it will have somewhat of an effect on the Lions. Still, the good news is that they are going against the Packers, who could be without starting running back Ahman Green. Consider using the Lions defense in Week 3 if your regular DST is on bye. As far as IDP concerns, the only player worthy of ownership at this point is Sims, who is having a nice start to his rookie season with 17 tackles. Play him, if you got him.
News: The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the Detroit Lions have signed LB Paris Lenon.
Analysis: Lenon recorded 65 total tackles and 1.5 sacks last season with Green Bay.
News: The Packers haven't settled on a temporary replacement for OLB Na'il Diggs (out until at least Week 10: knee) at the strong-side position. Undrafted rookie Roy Manning started the past game. Paris Lenon, who was the starter at the beginning of the season with Diggs out, split time with Manning in practice Wednesday. Rookie Brady Poppinga, who has a team-high nine special-teams tackles, also is getting a look at the spot.
Analysis: None of these players is worth using in Fantasy IDP leagues at this point.
