Connor Barth in, Rian Lindell out for Bucs

(3/7/2014) The Buccaneers plan to replace kicker Rian Lindell with former kicker Connor Barth, reports FOX Sports.

Barth missed the 2013 season after suffering a torn Achilles in a charity basketball game in July. He was replaced by Lindell, who is a free agent this offseason.

Lindell was 23 of 29 on field goals in 2013 with 31 extra points.

(12/22/2013) Buccaneers kicker Rian Lindell didn't get many chances in Week 16 against the Rams, in a 23-13 loss. Lindell did connect on both of his field-goal tries, from 35 and 32 yards, as well as one extra point.

Lindell heads into Week 17 against the Saints 22 for 28 on field-goal attempts on the season.

(12/15/2013) Buccaneers kicker Rian Lindell didn't get much work during a 33-14 loss Week 15 vs. San Francisco. Lindell attempted no field goals and finished with two extra points.

It was the first time all season Lindell didn't attempt a field goal. Sunday was the first time he failed to make a field goal since Week 2 against the Saints.

The Bucs are back in action Week 16 at St. Louis.

(12/8/2013) Buccaneers kicker Rian Lindell had a solid performance in Week 14 against the Bills, a 27-6 win. Lindell hit both of his field-goal attempts, from 53 and 32 yards, and nailed three points after touchdown.  

Lindell is now 20 for 26 on the season on field-goal attempts, with four of his six misses coming in the last four games.

(12/1/2013) Buccaneers kicker Rian Lindell hit a season-long 53-yard field goal in the first quarter Week 13 at Carolina. It was just his second kick of 50-plus yards all year. He also hit a 27-yarder in the first quarter, but he missed a 48-yarder in the third. He didn't have an extra point.

It was Lindell's second straight game with just six points and his third straight with a miss. The Buccaneers host the Bills in Week 14.

(11/24/2013) Buccaneers placekicker Rian Lindell didn't play a big role or kick well in his team's win Sunday in Detroit, but he did provide the margin of difference. Lindall bootted a 38-yard field goal late in the first quarter for the first score of the game and his team won by three points.

It wasn't a great game, however, for Lindell. He missed his other two field goal attempts.


Multiple field goals again for Rian Lindell

(11/17/2013) Though he missed a 55-yarder just before halftime, Buccaneers kicker Rian Lindell contributed multiple field goals for the fifth time in six games Week 11 against the Falcons, making a 30-yarder in the first quarter and a 46-yarder in the fourth. He also had five extra points, equaling a season high with 11 total points.

Lindell has seen his fortunes turn with those of the Buccaneers offense. He's averaging 8.5 points in his last six games after averaging 3.5 in his first four.

The Buccaneers visit the Lions in Week 12.

(11/3/2013) Buccaneers kicker Rian Lindell was not asked to do much as he made only one field goal during Sunday's overtime loss to the Seahawks in Week 9.

Lindell drilled a 33-yard field goal early in the third quarter for his only kick of the afternoon. He also added three extra points and finished with six points in a 27-24 overtime loss.

Lindell is 11 of 13 in field goal attempts this season.

(10/25/2013) Buccaneers kicker Rian Lindell nailed two field goals from 40-plus yards Thursday, in a 31-13 loss to the Panthers in Week 8. Lindell was good from 48 and 47 yards in the game, while adding a successful point after touchdown.

Lindell is 10 for 12 on the season on field goals, with just 10 extra-points.

(10/20/2013) Buccaneers kicker Rian Lindell, who had his first two-field goal game last week, kicked three Week 7 at Atlanta -- a 35-yarder, a 36-yarder and a 41-yarder. He also had two extra points. That gives him back-to-back games with at least eight points. His high for his first four games was only five.

The Buccaneers host the Panthers in Week 8.

(10/13/2013) Buccaneers kicker Rian Lindell had a decent afternoon Sunday during the Week 6 home game against Philadelphia. Lindell went 2 for 2 on field goal attempts with a long of 38 yards.

Lindell was 2 for 2 on PATs to finish the game with eight points scored. Lindell had his best scoring effort of the season in Sunday's game. The Bucs play at Atlanta Week 7.

Lindell, who also had an extra point, hasn't hade more than five points in four games this season. The Bucs are on a bye Week 5 before returning to action Week 6.

Lindell did not have an extra point and finished with just three points scored on the game. He's just 2 for 4 on field goal attempts thus far this season. Tampa Bay plays against Arizona Week 4.

(9/15/2013) Buccaneers kicker Rian Lindell failed to make much of an impact during Week 2 at home against the Saints.

Lindell hooked a 47-yard field goal to the left with just over a minute remaining in the game. He finished 0 for 1 and converted two extra points in a 16-14 victory. He has just seven points through two games.

The Buccaneers will travel to New England for a Week 3 showdown against the Patriots.

(9/8/2013) Buccaneers kicker Rian Lindell made good on his first field goal try with his new team in Sunday's Week 1 loss at the Jets. Lindell nailed a 37-yarder in the fourth quarter for his only FG attempt in the 18-17 loss. 

Lindell finished the game going 1 for 1 on field goals with two extra points. He scored five points for the Bucs. Tampa Bay plays at home against New Orleans Week 2.

(8/31/2013) The last field goal attempt has been booted in the battle for the Buccaneers' placekicking job and the winner is veteran Rian Lindell, reports Fox Sports. Lindell beat out Derek Dimke, who has yet to kick in a regular season game.

Lindell clinched the spot when Dimke missed a 45-yard field goal and an extra point in the preseason finale against Washington. The deposed Buffalo kicker was brought in by Tampa Bay after Connor Barth sustained a season-ending Achilles tendon injury and Lawrence Tynes was sidelined for the year with a staph infection.

The 36-year-old Lindell remains the most accurate kicker in Bills history at 83.3 percent, but showed limited range in recent years.


Lawrence Tynes goes home for treatment

(8/28/2013) Buccaneers kicker Lawrence Tynes returned to his home in Kansas City to get additional treatment for his staph infection, reports the Tampa Bay Times. Tynes received a peripherally inserted central catheter "used when a patient is expected to get antibiotics for more than a few days," the report said.

A PICC line can remain in place for weeks or months, according to the report.

It appears Rian Lindell will kick for Tampa Bay in Week 1.

Lindell spent a decade with the Bills and holds the franchise record for career field goal percentage of 83.3 pct. Hopkins made 25 of 30 field goals as a senior with the Florida State Seminoles and left college with 88 of 112 field goals made including 9 of 15 from 50-plus yards.
