Taylor Thompson making strides

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(6/26/2014) Titans offensive coordinator Jason Michael likes what sees from tight end Taylor Thompson so far this offseason, reports the team's official website.

"I think Taylor Thompson has come along," Michael said. "He's still young to the position, with changing from defensive end, and I know we've talked about those things and at some point, he's got to put that behind him and move forward and be a tight end and I think he's making steps toward doing that and working hard every day. He's a big receiving threat who is a strong, physical guy and just has to put it all together. He's done a good job through OTAs and minicamp. We've just got to keep making those strides in training camp and into the season."

(11/24/2013) The Titans received several contributions from role players during Week 12 against the Raiders.

Running back Collin Mooney caught and tight end Taylor Thompson all had one catch and one target. Mooney finished with 6 yards and Thompson had 4 yards. Kenny Britt was targeted twice and was held without a grab in a 23-19 victory.

Thompson was targeted just one time, when he scored from 9 yards out on a reception from Ryan Fitzpatrick.  It was his lone catch of the game.

Taylor Thompson held out again

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(8/18/2013) Titans tight end Taylor Thompson was held out again Saturday against the Bengals in preseason action, as he continued to deal with a shoulder sprain. The rookie has missed two straight preseason games with the injury.

The Titans will host the Falcons on Aug. 24. Their preseason finale is just five days later at Minnesota.

Titans' Taylor Thompson sidelined

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(8/13/2013) Titans tight end Taylor Thompson took in training camp practice again from the sideline on Monday per The Tennessean. He's missed time with a shoulder sprain but hopes to play Saturday against the Bengals.

TE Thompson impresses in camp

(5/16/2012) Titans rookie tight end Taylor Thompson didn't play his position in college -- he was a defensive end -- but you wouldn't know it based on the team's recent minicamp. According to the official team website, Thompson ran smooth routes and caught everything thrown at him. That might have been because Thompson says the Titans run an offense similar to what the offense ran at SMU when he was there. "I felt very comfortable on offense. "I've learned a lot the past few days and I'm just having a great time," Thompson said. "I'm pretty familiar with what they're running here. It's similar to what Coach (June) Jones ran at SMU.”

Graham-esque Thompson joins Titans

(5/3/2012) The Tennessee Titans took SMU tight end Taylor Thompson with a fifth-round pick in the NFL Draft. The 6-foot-6, 287-pound Thompson played defensive end for the Mustangs but went into the draft as a tight end, which he played in high school. He was first-team Conference USA as a junior at defensive end when he had 4.5 sacks. Thompson drew the eyes of Titans scouts at the inaugural Players' All-Star Classic and was doing well in seam routes. "We saw him practicing full-time tight end routes, catching the ball, blocking -- the whole deal," college scout John Salge said. "That's when we said 'Wow, this guy has some ability.'"
