Browns list Joe Haden, Karlos Dansby as questionable for Sunday

(12/19/2014) The Browns listed cornerback Joe Haden (shoulder) and linebacker Karlos Dansby (knee) as questionable for Sunday’s game at Carolina. Haden was able to practice Friday on a limited basis.

Also listed as questionable are Gary Barnidge (ribs), Marlon Moore (knee), Robert Nelson (hamstring) and Jabaal Sheard (foot).

The Browns ruled K’Waun Williams (hamstring) and Tashaun Gipson (knee) as out. Wide receiver Andrew Hawkins (illness) is the only player listed as probable.

The Browns are 3 ½ point underdogs to the Panthers.

(12/18/2014) The battered Browns secondary received no good news Thursday as cornerbacks Joe Haden (shoulder) and K'Waun Williams (hamstring) and safety Tashaun Gipson (knee) were all out of their second straight practices this week.

Their continued absences could mean they will all be sidelined when the team plays at Charlotte on Sunday.

They are defensive backs K'Waun Williams (hamstring) and Tashaun Gipson (knee), linebacker Karlos Dansby (knee), wideout Robert Nelson (hamstring) and tight end Gary Barnidge (rib).

The healthy scratches are tackle Vinston Painter and running back Glenn Winston.


Pettine optimistic about several injured or ailing Browns

(12/11/2014) Mike Pettine has expressed good news on the injury and illness front for the Browns.

He said that linebacker Karlos Dansby (knee), who has missed the last three games, is on the verge of returning, and that safety Donte Whitner (illness) has returned to practice. Pettine added that tight end Gary Barnidge (ribs) is getting closer to a comeback and he's optimistic that free safety Tashaun Gipson (knee) will be back to game action at some point this season.

(12/7/2014) A trio of injured Browns have landed on their inactive list for Sunday against Indianapolis, including linebacker Karlos Dansby and safety Tashaun Gipson, both with knee injuries. Gipson has stated he hopes to return for the last two games of the season.

Also injured and out is tight end Gary Barnidge (rib). The healthy scratches are wide receiver Rodney Smith, running back Glenn Winston, defensive back Robert Nelson and offensive lineman Vinston Painter.

(12/7/2014) Browns safety Tashaun Gipson is hoping to return to the field for the team's final two games of the regular season, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. 

The Browns had a chance to place Gipson on the injured reserve, but has not. 

Gipson, who is leading the team with six interceptions, suffered a grade 3 MCL sprain against the Falcons in Week 12.

Running back Isaiah Crowell (hip), Jordan Cameron (concussion), linebacker Jabaal Sheard (foot) and linebacker Karlos Dansby (knee) were deemed questionable.

Meanwhile, linebacker Paul Kruger (illness), center Nick McDonald (ankle, knee), linebacker Barkevious Mingo (shoulder) and wide receiver Marlon Moore (hamstring) were all designated as probable.

They are free safety Tashaun Gipson (knee), linebacker Karlos Dansby (knee), cornerback Justin Gilbert (illness), wideout Marlon Moore (hamstring) and tight end Jordan Cameron (concussion). The latter will be missing his fifth straight game.

The healthy scratches are wide receiver Rodney Smith and offensive lineman Vinston Painter.

(11/28/2014) The Browns have issued their injury report for their Sunday game in Buffalo. Included on it are safety Tashaun Gipson (knee), wideout Marlon Moore (hamstring) and linebacker Karlos Dansby (knee), all of whom have been ruled out.

Tight end Jordan Cameron (concussion), linebacker Jabaal Sheard (foot) and defensive tackle Ahtyba Rubin (back) are all questionable while linebacker Barkevious Mingo (shoulder) is probable.


Browns unsure if Tashaun Gipson will be placed on IR

(11/24/2014) Browns coach Mike Pettine told reporters Monday he's unsure if injured free safety Tashaun Gipson will be placed on the season-ending IR list, according to the Akron Beacon Journal.

Gipson underwent an MRI on his injured knee, which revealed a Grade 3 MCL injury and no structural damage to his ACL. The injury could keep him sidelined approximately six-to-eight weeks. There's a chance Gipson could return in the postseason, if the Browns clinch a spot during the regular season. Pettine indicated it's "too early to start studying (playoff) scenarios."

(11/24/2014) Browns free safety Tashaun Gipson underwent an MRI on his injured knee, which revealed a Grade 3 MCL injury, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports Monday. The MRI also revealed no structural damage to his ACL.

Gipson was carted off the field in Week 12 with the injury. According to ESPN, the injury typically requires a six-to-eight week recovery, which could keep him out for the remainder of the regular season.

(11/23/2014) Browns free safety Tashaun Gipson will undergo an MRI Monday after suffering a potentially serious knee injury in Sunday's win over the Falcons, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Gipson had to be carted off the field after colliding with teammate Joe Haden in the fourth quarter Sunday. "Gipson is one of the best safeties, one of the top three in the NFL for sure," Haden said. "Losing him, you can't replace him, but in the NFL nobody is going to feel bad for you."

Gipson was seen on crutches after the game. The Browns are set to play the Bills in Week 13.

(11/23/2014) Browns free safety Tashaun Gipson left Sunday's game at Atlanta in the fourth quarter with a knee injury. Gipson suffered the injury after colliding with teammate Joe Haden as they were breaking up an intended pass in the end zone for Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones. 

While Haden was able to get up and walk off the field after being down on the ground for a few moments, Gipson was not as fortunate. He was down for a few minutes before being carted off the field. He could put no weight on his right leg. He had three tackles (two solo) before leaving the game.

But aside from special teams player Johnson Bademosi (concussion) being ruled out for the game against the Texans, the team is relatively healthy.

An exception could be safety Tashaun Gipson (concussion), who is questionable. The probables are defensive end Desmond Bryant (wrist), wideout Andrew Hawkins (thigh/knee), linebacker Barkevious Mingo (shoulder) and defensive tackle Billy Winn (toe).

Despite not practicing this week, Browns coach Mike Pettine did not rule out either player playing Sunday against Houston.

"We're not in a position to rule either one out yet, so there's still a chance that they'll go," Pettine said, per the Plain Dealer.
