News: Buffalo promoted wide receiver Kevin Elliott to the active roster Friday, giving the team some flexibility at the position for Week 17 against the Jets. Elliott took the roster spot vacated by tight end Scott Chandler, who was placed on injured reserve earlier this week.
Analysis: Elliott has spent most of the month on the Bills' practice squad after being released by the Jaguars on Dec. 14. He recorded just 10 catches in 13 games with Jacksonville before being cut, and does not hold any Fantasy value with Buffalo at this point.
News: The Jaguars released wide receiver Kevin Elliott on Friday to create a spot for offensive lineman Austin Pasztor on the active roster. Elliott earned a spot start during Week 15 against the Jets with Cecil Shorts out with a concussion, but managed just three catches for 38 yards.
Analysis: Elliot wasn't viewed as a strong scoring threat -- neither of the Jaguars' receivers outside of Shorts are really -- and should be left on waivers in all Fantasy formats at this point of the season, even if he latches on with another team.
News: Jacksonville wide receiver Kevin Elliott had three catches for 38 yards -- the highest totals of his rookie campaign -- during the Jaguars' 17-10 loss to the Jets in Week 14. With Cecil Shorts out with a concussion, Elliott earned a spot in the starting lineup and registered 10 targets from quarterback Chad Henne, the second-best total on the team. Justin Blackmon paced the team with six receptions for 57 yards on 12 targets.
Analysis: Elliott has been a steady contributor over the past two weeks for the Jaguars and averaged eight targets in that span. However, the 23-year-old rookie isn't a key scoring threat -- neither of the Jaguars' receivers outside of Shorts are really -- and shouldn't be viewed as a reliable Fantasy option at this point in the season.
News: With Cecil Shorts sidelined for much of the fourth quarter by a concussion and the Jaguars in catch-up mode for the entire second half, little-used wide receiver Kevin Elliott was used more than ever Week 13 at Buffalo. He caught only two passes for 24 yards, but his six targets were a season high.
Analysis: Justin Blackmon was struggling to catch passes in the rainy and windy conditions, which also worked to Elliott's advantage. Basically, Week 13 was a perfect storm for the rookie wide receiver. The targets for him going forward will likely be few and far between, so he can remain on waivers in virtually all Fantasy formats.
News: When undrafted receiver Kevin Elliott arrived in Jacksonville, he had as much confidence as a seasoned veteran. It raised eyebrows then. It seems justified now. Elliott had a 77-yard touchdown reception, likely solidifying his spot on the regular-season roster, and the Jaguars beat the Atlanta Falcons 24-14 in their preseason finale Thursday night. "The 24 hours leading up to the game was hard," Elliott said. "I couldn't sleep; it was like the first day of school. I believe I will sleep well tonight. I did everything I could."
Analysis: Elliot played well in the preseason finale, but not much is expected out of him, or the Jaguars, offensively this season. Elliot may have some sleeper appeal, but should not be taken on Draft Day or active in Fantasy leagues for Week 1 at Minnesota.
