Jake Locker suffered right wrist injury Week 3

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/22/2014) Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt told reporters Monday quarterback Jake Locker sustained a right wrist injury Week 3 against the Bengals. Whisenhunt said Locker could barely grip the football near the end of Sunday's loss and underwent an MRI Monday.

There is no clear indication on the severity of Locker's injury. The team will update his status Wednesday.

Jake Locker's second-half rally not enough in Week 2 loss

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/14/2014) Titans quarterback Jake Locker bounced back from a horrendous first half Sunday, but his comeback attempt just wasn't enough in a 26-10 loss Week 2 vs. Dallas. Locker completed 18 of 34 passes for 234 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions, while rushing for 9 yards.

After a tremendous performance Week 1 in a win against the Chiefs, the Cowboys shutdown Locker in the first half Sunday. Locker completed just 4 of 12 passes for 26 yards and one interception by halftime.

Though, the second half was a much different story for Locker, who led Tennessee on a scoring drive to open the third quarter, cutting the deficit to 16-3. The Titans then got within six points, as on the next Tennessee drive Locker connected with Delanie Walker for a 61-yard touchdown.

The Cowboys extended the lead to 26-10 before Locker hit Nate Washington for a 6-yard touchdown. However, after review, the ruling on the field was overturned as replay showed Washington had the ball knocked out of his hands as he was going to the ground. Locker came back on the next play to hit Walker for a pass in the end zone, but Walker couldn't come down with the football inbounds and Tennessee turned the ball over on downs.

The Titans are back in action Week 3 at Cincinnati.

Jake Locker leads Titans to surprising win Week 1

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/7/2014) Titans quarterback Jake Locker passed for more than 250 yards and threw two touchdowns, leading Tennessee to a surprising 26-10 win Week 1 at Kansas City.

Locker gave Tennessee a 7-3 lead when he capped an 11-play, 62-yard drive with a 5-yard touchdown pass to Delanie Walker with 3:31 left in the second quarter. He put Tennessee ahead 17-3 with a 6-yard touchdown pass to Kendall Wright with 10:26 left in the third quarter that capped a nine-play, 80-yard drive. It was the seventh time in his career he passed for multiple touchdowns and first time since Week 7 last season.

He finished with 266 passing yards on 22 of 33 completions. Locker also rushed for 14 yards on six carries and had no turnovers. The Titans are back in action Week 2 vs. Dallas.

Jake Locker coming off productive preseason

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/3/2014) Titans quarterback Jake Locker heads into Week 1 at Kansas City coming off a pretty good preseason. The fourth-year quarterback completed 70 percent of his passes (21 of 30) for 268 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions, and finished with a 119.9 quarterback rating.

Locker has never faced the Chiefs in his career, but he is 1-1 with 473 yards, three touchdowns (one rushing) and one interception in two career games against AFC West opponents.

Quarterbacks averaged 19.9 Fantasy points per game against Kansas City last season, which included a playoff game against Indianapolis. Though, quarterbacks were much better down the stretch against Kansas City than earlier in the season.

After just one quarterback threw for multiple touchdowns in the first 10 games against Kansas City, quarterbacks totaled multiple passing touchdowns in five of the last seven games, including the playoff matchup.

Locker is 8-10 with a 81.1 quarterback rating through his first 23 NFL games (18 starts). The 2014 season is a big year for the 26-year-old quarterback. He does have some good young wideouts to throw to in Kendall Wright and Justin Hunter, but Locker is far from a must-start option heading into Week 1. He's at best a No. 2 Fantasy quarterback.

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com

"Those are things that we're working into and we're going to get more comfortable with, hopefully in the next week or two," Locker said. "I'm probably erring on the side of more being cautious at this point. I think if you asked me to go do it right now, I could."

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com

"I feel great about Jake," Whisenhunt said, per the Tennessean. "That position, there is so much intangible value to certain things that you do, and Jake has those. The guys love him, the ways he works ... To me it's a good indication of how he is going to be as a player."

Whisenhunt said it's smart for the organization to plan ahead and look "two to three years down the road."

“If there’s one thing I’m good at, it’s adjusting to new staffs — from being on four different teams and going through a lot of different coaches,” Fitzpatrick told the Tennessean. “They did me a favor (here) by bringing in some (former Bills assistants), so that was good … guys I’m familiar with. So the more you stick around, the more familiar the faces start to look.”

Fitzpatrick said he's excited to "dive into a different system and really share some ideas and bounce them off the walls. It will be fun.”

He played in 11 games last season, throwing 14 touchdowns against 12 interceptions while posting an 82.0 passer rating. Fitzpatrick could back up Jake Locker or another quarterback Tennessee brings in.

"I think that's something we'll continue to discuss and go through," Webster said. "But I would anticipate Jake having a good chance to do that."
