Panthers place OT Nate Chadler on IR

(11/18/2014) The Panthers announced offensive tackle Nate Chandler has been placed on injured reserve Tuesday.

Chandler was injured during a Week 11 loss to Atlanta. An MRI revealed Chandler suffer a lateral meniscus tear in his right knee.

(11/14/2014) The Panthers unveiled a lengthy injury report for Sunday's game against Atlanta. Out of the 13 players listed on the report, Star Lotulelei (ankle) was the only player ruled out for Week 11. Bene Benwikere (ankle), Brandon Williams (foot) and Charles Johnson (rest) were labeled questionable.

The following players were deemed probable: Nate Chandler (toe), Jerricho Cotchery (hamstring), Roman Harper (rest), Kawann Short (ankle), Jonathan Stewart (ankle), Trai Turner (ankle), Melvin White (knee) and DeAngelo Williams (foot).

(10/24/2014) The seven players who have not practiced all week have been ruled out by the Panthers for their Sunday home game against Seattle.

That group consists of cornerback Bene Benwikere (ankle), linebacker Chase Blackburn (knee), wideout Philly Brown (concussion), guards Amini Silatolu (calf) and Trai Turner (knee) and running backs Fozzy Whittaker (thigh) and DeAngelo Williams (ankle).

Fellow running back Chris Ogbonnaya (groin) and linebacker Jason Williams (hip) are questionable while offensive linemen Nate Chandler (thigh) and Byron Bell (elbow) are probable.

(7/9/2014) With Jordan Gross' retirement, the Panthers will have a new left tackle in 2014. The team's website says the competition is between Byron Bell, who started 14 games at right tackle last year, and Nate Chandler, who started six games at guard and two at right tackle.

Chandler is a converted defensive lineman who went undrafted out of UCLA in 2012.


Panthers give contract extensions to three players

(6/18/2014) The Panthers extended the contracts of defensive end Mario Addison, safety Colin Jones and offensive tackle Nate Chandler. The team made the announcement on Wednesday. 

Addison received a two-year extension following three seasons of work in which he totaled 3.5 sakcs and 36 total tackles, most of which came on special teams. Jones also got a two-year extension and has similarly contributed on special teams, tallying 27 total tackles over 44 games. 

Chandler got a three-year extension and should begin the season as a starting tackle for the Panthers. 


Six Panthers probable Week 15

All six players missed practice Wednesday, but returned to full practice Thursday. Edwards, Gross and Wharton are listed as "non-injury" on the report.

Hartsock and Johnson were the only two players limited in practice Thursday. All seven were able to fully participate in practice Friday.

(11/3/2013) Not only did the Panthers lose starting right guard Chris Scott to a knee injury Week 9 against the Falcons, but they also lost backup Jeff Byers to a foot injury, requiring them to use former defensive tackle Nate Chandler at the position.

According to the Charlotte Observer, Scott was in a brace after the game, and Byers was on crutches.
