Buccaneers make some roster tweaks

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(7/24/2013) The Buccaneers announced a series of moves on Wednesday, the most significant of which being the placement of kicker Connor Barth on the reserve/NFI list. Barth hurt his Achilles in a charity basketball game and will be replaced by Lawrence Tynes on the roster.

Jeff Demps might run track before joining Bucs

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(7/22/2013) Bucs running back/kick returner Jeff Demps might miss the start of training camp because of track obligations, according to the Tampa Bay Times. Demps is awaiting a decision by Team USA, which could ask Demps to run as a member of its 4x100-meter relay team at the IAAF World Championships in Moscow in August, agent Daniel Rose said.

"Jeff is the kind of guy who sees things through to the end," Rose said of his client. "And right now, he’s running track. But we’ll see what happens. He’s in great shape. He works out five hours a day. He’s being brought in for his speed, and we know he can run."

Jeff Demps unsure about training camp schedule

by Nando Di Fino | Senior Fantasy Writer
(7/19/2013) Buccaneers would-be kick returner Jeff Demps is still a little unsure of when he will report to training camp, because -- according to the Tampa Bay Times -- the Olympic sprinter is waiting on an invitation to compete in the IAAF World Championships in Moscow (Aug. 10-18).

This is nothing new for Demps, who participated in the London Olympics last year and still played in preseason games with the Patriots. Demps spent 2012 on the IR, and was traded to the Bucs in April.

A second-year running back/kick returner out of Florida, Demps played four years for the Gators, gaining 2,470 yards on 367 attempts and scoring 23 touchdowns.

Demps headed to Tampa Bay

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(4/27/2013) The Buccaneers have traded running back LeGarrette Blount to the Patriots in exchange for a seventh-round pick in this year's NFL Draft and Olympic sprinter Jeff Demps. Demps was a silver medalist as part of the 4x100 relay team that finished second to Jamaica at the 2012 London Games. The former Florida running back was not selected in last year's draft because he told teams he wanted to focus on his track career. The Patriots signed Demps last August. Blount was a 1,000-yard as a rookie with the Bucs after going undrafted in 2010. He led Tampa Bay in rushing again with 781 yards the following year, but lost his starting job after Doug Martin joined the team as a first-round draft pick in 2012.
