Broncos promote K Brandon McManus to handle kickoff duties

(12/6/2014) The Broncos have promoted kicker Brandon McManus from their practice squad to the 53-man active roster and released punt returner Isaiah Burse on Saturday, according to the Denver Post.

McManus lost his job to Connor Barth in Week 13, after connecting on just 9 of 13 field goal attempts this season. Barth is expected to continue handling field goal duties, while McManus is expected to handle kickoffs for the Broncos.

(11/25/2014) Not happy with their kicking situation, sources have reported the Broncos will sign kicker Connor Barth Tuesday, reports the Denver Post.

Barth will replace kicker Brandon McManus who was waived Tuesday, according to NFL Insider Adam Schefter. McManus missed a 33-yard field goal in the third quarter Sunday against Miami which was his third missed field goal of the season. The Broncos will play at Kansas City Week 13.

(11/24/2014) Former Cardinals kicker Jay Feely will work out for the Broncos on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports. According to the Denver Post, former Buccaneers kicker Connor Barth will also work out for the team.

Feely worked out for Detroit earlier in the season. Barth spent his last four seasons with Tampa Bay before he was waived by the team before the start of the season. One of the two could be in line to replace Brandon McManus, who missed his fourth field goal of the season on Sunday against the Dolphins. All four of McManus' missed field goals have come since Denver released Matt Prater in October.

(11/24/2014) The Broncos are considering replacing kicker Brandon McManus after his performance on Sunday. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Broncos are planning to work out kickers leading up to Sunday's game against the Chiefs.

McManus had a 33-yard attempt bounce off the right upright in the third quarter. He converted 1 of 2 field goal attempts in a 39-36 victory over Miami in Week 12. He has knocked down 9 of 13 field goal attempts this season.

(11/23/2014) Broncos kicker Brandon McManus converted one of his two field goal attempts to help the Broncos defeat the Dolphins 39-36 Week 12.

McManus converted a 38-yard field goal in the first quarter, but later missed a 33-yard field goal in the third quarter which was his third missed field goal of the season. He did convert all four of his extra point attempts. The Broncos will play at Kansas City Week 13.

McManus drilled a 20-yard field goal in the opening quarter and a 28-yard field goal in the second quarter. He finished the game 2 for 2 in field goal attempts, adding five extra points. He has converted 8 of 11 field goal attempts this season.

(11/7/2014) Linebacker Nate Irving (knee) is the lone Broncos player ruled out for the Sunday game in Oakland. Only running back Montee Ball (groin), tackle Paul Cornick (shoulder) and tight end Virgil Green (calf) are questionable.

The probables are headlined by wideout Wes Welker (back). The others are safety Quinton Carter (hamstring), linebacker Steven Johnson (ankle), kicker Brandon McManus (groin) and running back Juwan Thompson (knee).

McManus missed from 41 yards out in the second quarter. He did not receive another opportunity at a field goal during the contest. McManus did manage three extra point attempts, though.

He'll look for more Week 10 against the Raiders.

Hillman was listed as probable due to a shoulder injury. He was never really a candidate to sit. The team will also have Lamin Barrow, Omar Bolden, Chris Harris Jr., Brandon McManus, Juwan Thompson, Louis Vasquez and Kayvon Webster. All seven players were listed as probable coming into the contest.

Hillman is listed as probable on the injury report due to a shoulder injury. He was a full participant in practice Friday, and is expected to play.

The team also listed Lamin Barrow, Omar Bolden, Chris Harris Jr., Brandon McManus, Juwan Thompson, Louis Vasquez and Webster Kayvon as probable for the contest.

McManus wasn't able to practice Monday and Tuesday because of a right groin injury, but was a full participant in practice Wednesday. McManus watched Peyton Manning march the offense up and down the field over the first three quarters of the game, and backup Brock Osweiler wasn't able to lead the team into scoring position once he took over in the fourth quarter. McManus has received more than one field-goal attempt just once this season. He and the Broncos will face the Chargers in Week 8.

The Broncos are very healthy heading into Week 7, with Ball the only player on the active roster missing the game due to injury. (10/17/2014) Running back Montee Ball (groin) will almost certainly be the lone injured Broncos player out for their Sunday night game against San Francisco. The rest on their injury report issued Friday are probable.

That group consists of defensive backs Omar Bolden (groin), David Bruton (ankle) and Chris Harris (knee), kicker Brandon McManus (groin), linebacker Corey Nelson (hamstring) and running back Juwan Thompson (knee).
