The most significant were tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins and wideout Russell Shepard. The former caught three passes for 44 yards while the latter snagged two for 30 yards.

Fellow wideout Solomon Patton made the most of his opportunity, racing 19 yards on an end-around. Jorvorskie Lane added one carry for two yards while Bobby Rainey managed the same yardage on four attempts while catching one pass for 16 yards.

Buccaneers claim two off waivers

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(9/1/2013) The Buccaneers claimed defensive tackle Chris Jones off waivers from the Texans and wideout Russell Shepard off waivers from the Eagles. To make room, Tampa Bay released wideout Tiquan Underwood and waived linebacker Najee Goode.

In addition, the Bucs signed seven players to their practice squad: cornerback Deveron Carr, offensive lineman Jace Daniels, linebacker Ka’lial Glaud, defensive tackle Matthew Masifilo, tight end Danny Noble, wide receiver Chris Owusu and offensive tackle Mike Remmers.

Damaris Johnson, Russell Shepard battling hamstring woes

(8/8/2013) The Eagles are without two receivers for practice Thursday with Damaris Johnson and Russell Shepard both nursing hamstring injuries, reports the Philadelphia Inquirer.

They will likely be considered questionable for Friday's preseason game against the Patriots.

Report: Russell Shepard staking claim on No. 2 WR job

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(8/5/2013) The Eagles' No. 2 receiver job is Russell Shepard's to lose, according to CSNPhilly.com. With Jeremy Maclin out for the season and Riley Cooper on extended leave, Shepard has been working with the starting unit opposite DeSean Jackson.

“He has great speed, he runs great routes, he has a good set of hands,” Michael Vick said. “He knows how to play football instinctively and that’s what you’re always looking for, a guy you don’t have to teach everything."

Defensive lineman Bennie Logan, a teammate of Shepard's at LSU, said the undrafted 6-1, 195-pounder is "dominating this camp." Shepard is ahead of Damaris Johnson and Arrelious Benn, according to the report.
