Jets do little in loss to Lions

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(9/28/2014) The Jets DST unit managed to slow down a strong Lions' offense Sunday, but failed to do enough in a 24-17 loss in Week 4.

The Lions managed just 360 yards of total offense in the game, though that might just be because they sprinted out to a 17-3 first-half lead. The Jets failed to force a single turnover, though they did sack Matt Stafford four times in the loss.

The Jets have held just one opponent below 24 points this season, and that was the lowly Raiders in Week 1. Things won't get much better for them in Week 5, with the Chargers on the way.

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com

The Jets won't be able to rest easy in Week 3, as they'll take on the Bears at home on Monday night.

Dimitri Patterson gets extra work in preseason opener

"For the most part, I've been at (outside) corner (during training camp), but they wanted to put me in and work some nickel reps," Patterson told The Star-Ledger after the game.

Patterson played 41 of the team's 64 defensive snaps, well more than the 26 the rest of the starters played. He spent much of his time in the second half working in the slot, to see if can do spot duty there during the season.

Patterson also downplayed concerns about a calf and ankle injury that has slowed him during training camp at times. He has played just 15 games over the last two seasons due to injuries.

"Nothing that should hold me back," he said. "These are all things that I can deal with and still play with. Nothing to really lose sleep over. In an ideal world, you want to feel great, but that's not going to be the case right now. Everybody is probably dealing with something. It's not that serious.”
