Jets hopeful Muhammad Wilkerson will play vs. New England

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(12/15/2014) Jets coach Rex Ryan told reporters on Monday that he's hopeful defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson can play Week 16 against New England, per ESPN. Wilkerson has missed the past three games with a toe injury.

"If there's any chance, he'll play," Ryan said. "We certainly need him."

Jets DST handles third-stringer

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(12/14/2014) The Jets had one of their best defensive performances of the season Week 15 at Tennessee, allowing 11 points on 342 yards. Of course, the Titans were down to their third-string quarterback, Charlie Whitehurst, after backup Jake Locker went down late in the first half with a shoulder injury.

Despite keeping the Titans out of the end zone, the Jets didn't have any standout plays on defense, recording one sack and recovering one fumble. They had three sacks and two takeaways last week at Minnesota, when they allowed 30 points on 411 yards.

Considering it just barely turned in a respectable performance, at least in terms of Fantasy production, even with the favorable matchup, the Jets DST isn't one you should considering using against the Patriots, its opponent for Week 16.

Jets fall short in OT loss

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(12/7/2014) The Jets defense held up relatively well in Week 14 against the Vikings, but once again got little help from the other side of the ball in 30-24 loss.

The Jets forced a pair of turnovers and did a good job pressuring Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, racking up three sacks. However, they also surrendered 411 yards of total offense in the game, while the Vikings scored twice on defensive touchdowns.

The Jets' DST unit still managed to come away from the game with 9 Fantasy points, despite the loss. They have 19 over the last two games, and face an excellent matchup with the Titans on the schedule in Week 15. They should remain a useful option down the stretch.

Solid showing from defense not enough as Jets fall

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(12/2/2014) The Jets defense mostly held up against the Dolphins in Week 13, but it wasn't enough to make up for another poor outing from the offense in a 16-13 loss Monday.

The Jets held the Dolphins to just three first-half points, and the Dolphins' offense didn't really do much overall. Miami came out of the game with just 291 yards against the Jets, while New York forced one turnover and sacked Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill twice.

The Jets' defense has struggled at times this season, though they have registered double digits in Fantasy scoring in two of the last three games. They might do so again in Week 14, with the lowly Vikings on the way.

Jets release LB Antwan Barnes, sign TE Chris Pantale

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(12/1/2014) The Jets have announced a pair of roster moves prior to Monday night's game against the Dolphins. The team released linebacker Antwan Barnes from the active roster and signed tight end Chris Pantale from the practice squad to the active roster. Barnes, 30, registered three total tackles in five games.

Jets DE Muhammad Wilkerson headed for MRI on injured toe

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(11/25/2014) Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson will undergo an MRI on his injured toe on Tuesday, according to ESPN. Wilkerson left Week 12 against the Bills with the injury. He has 4.5 sacks and one forced fumble on the year.

The Jets will host the Dolphins on Monday night.

Report: Jets benched Calvin Pryor due to disciplinary reasons

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(11/10/2014) The Jets benched defensive back Calvin Pryor in favor of Jaiquawn Jarrett in Week 10 against Pittsburgh, and it may have been because of disciplinary reasons. Although Pryor suffered a stinger in the first quarter of his previous game, the first-round pick was late to multiple meetings, which may have been the reasoning behind his benching in Week 10, according to ESPN New York.

With the Pryor on the bench, Jarrett thrived registering a pair of interceptions, a sack and a fumble recovery in a 20-13 victory.

"It was a coach's decision," Pryor said, according to the New York Post. "We were going to rotate, but Jaiquawn Jarrett had a hell of a game, two interceptions, picked-up fumble. Stay with the hot guy, just keep him out there."

Jets S Jaiquawn Jarrett plays role of hero in Week 10 win

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(11/9/2014) Don't be surprised if Jets safety Jaiquawn Jarrett is named AFC Defensive Player of the Week after a brilliant performance Sunday. He became the first Jets player to record an interception and fumble recovery in the same game in six years. And he added a second pick in keying a tremendous defensive effort that beat Pittsburgh.

Jarrett finished with 10 tackles and even contributed one of two sacks of Ben Roethlisberger.

Jets DST has lackluster performance

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(11/2/2014) Through the Jets defense reversed a troubling trend as far as the scoreboard goes Week 9 at Kansas City, allowing 24 points (on 309 yards) after allowing an average of 33.0 in its previous four games, it wasn't as effective rushing the passer, recording just one sack.

It also went without a takeaway for the fourth straight game, giving it only three all season.

The Jets DST was considered one of the most reliable units in Fantasy not too many years ago, but these days, it's only viable with the right matchups. You can leave it on waivers for Week 10 against Pittsburgh.

Geno Smith among Jets players inactive Week 9

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(11/2/2014) Jets quarterback Geno Smith was listed as inactive Sunday against the Chiefs due to a shoulder injury. Smith was going to be the backup quarterback to Michael Vick, if he was active.

The other Jets inactives for Week 9 were Walt Powell, Darrin Walls, IK Enemkpali, Dakota Dozier, Wesley Johnson and T.J. Barnes.

Jets DST can't make up for offensive miscues

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(10/27/2014) The Jets offense turned the ball over six times and the defense simply couldn't make up for it in a 43-23 loss to the Bills.

The Jets actually held the Bills to 280 yards of total offense, thought that might have just been the result of a plethora of short fields to work with. The Bills did not turn the ball over once in the blowout, and the Jets managed just four sacks on the positive side of the ledger.

The Jets have not turned in a double-digit Fantasy point game since Week 3, and are unlikely to do so in Week 9 with the Chiefs on the way.

Jets release Josh Bush as Antwan Barnes comes off PUP list

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(10/15/2014) The Jets announced Wednesday they activated linebacker Antwan Barnes (knee) from the PUP list. To clear a roster spot, defensive back Josh Bush was released.

Jets place Dee Milliner on season-ending IR list

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10/13/2014) The Jets have officially placed cornerback Dee Milliner on the season-ending IR list on Monday, per the team's official website. He suffered a torn Achillies Sunday against the Broncos. The team signed former Seahawks cornerback Josh Thomas to take his roster spot.

Report: Tests confirm torn Achilles for Jets CB Dee Milliner

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(10/13/2014) Tests confirmed Jets cornerback Dee Milliner suffered a torn Achillies Sunday against the Broncos, a source told NFL.com. Milliner will miss the rest of the season.

Could have been worse for Jets DST

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(10/13/2014) Given that the Jets haven't shown much on the defensive side of the ball this year, they could have been blown out of the water by Peyton Manning and company Week 6 against Denver, but considering the competition, they actually had a respectable showing.

Of course, that's considering the competition. Points are a given for the Broncos, and they had 31 on 359 yards in this one. For the year, they're averaging 29.4 points on 389.0 yards, so the Jets were basically on par.

It was a small victory for their DST, which also recorded two sacks in the contest, and nothing to change its Fantasy value. It can be useful with the right matchup, but it doesn't have that matchup Week 7 at New England.

Jets expect LB David Harris to play Week 6

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10/9/2014) Jets linebacker David Harris is nursing a "significant" shoulder injury, head coach Rex Ryan told reporters on Thursday, per ESPN. Although Harris was held out of team drills for the second consecutive day, he is expected to play Week 6 against the Broncos.

"He's playing," Ryan said.

Jets LB David Harris has no structural damage in shoulder

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(10/6/2014) An MRI revealed no structural damage in Jets linebacker David Harris' shoulder. He is day to day, a source told the New York Post.

Jets' David Harris could miss some time with AC joint injury

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(10/6/2014) Jets linebacker David Harris could miss some time with a shoulder injury, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network on Monday. Harris left Week 5 at San Diego with a sprained AC joint. X-rays on the shoulder came back negative, though he's expected to undergo an MRI on Monday to know the extent of the injury.

Harris has registered 39 tackles this season, along with a sack and a forced fumble.

The Jets will host the Broncos in Week 6.

Jets DST decent despite struggling vs. run

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(10/6/2014) Though their struggles against the pass are nothing new, the Jets fell from first against the run to sixth after giving up 114 rushing yards to rookie Branden Oliver Week 5 at San Diego. As a result, they surrendered 31 points, tied for the most they've allowed in a game this season.

The Jets allowed 439 yards in all, also a season worst, but they continued to pile up sacks at a league-leading rate, recording three to keep pace with Buffalo at the top. They also had their first interception.

The Jets DST did OK with a tough matchup this week, but chances are it won't be so fortunate against Denver in Week 6. You'll want to sit it in Fantasy, if only for that week.

Jets do little in loss to Lions

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(9/28/2014) The Jets DST unit managed to slow down a strong Lions' offense Sunday, but failed to do enough in a 24-17 loss in Week 4.

The Lions managed just 360 yards of total offense in the game, though that might just be because they sprinted out to a 17-3 first-half lead. The Jets failed to force a single turnover, though they did sack Matt Stafford four times in the loss.

The Jets have held just one opponent below 24 points this season, and that was the lowly Raiders in Week 1. Things won't get much better for them in Week 5, with the Chargers on the way.

Calvin Pryor exits Week 4 with quad injury

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(9/28/2014) Jets defensive back Calvin Pryor was forced out of Week 4 at home against the Lions with a quad injury, according to the team's official website. Pryor left the game late in the first half with the injury and was ruled questionable to return. He had three tackles and half a sack before leaving the game.

Dee Milliner likely to sit out Week 4

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/25/2014) Jets coach Rex Ryan said Thursday cornerback Dee Milliner's availability for Sunday's game against the Lions "doesn't look real good," according to the New York Daily News. Milliner is dealing with a quadriceps injury.

Muhammad Wilkerson dealing with knee contusion

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/23/2014) Jets coach Rex Ryan said defensive tackle Muhammad Wilkerson suffered a knee contusion Monday against the Bears. Ryan said it's not a serious injury, but Wilkerson might miss practice Wednesday.

"I think he's going to be fine," Ryan said, per the New York Daily News.

Muhammad Wilkerson's injury not considered serious

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(9/23/2014) The knee injury suffered by Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson in the fourth quarter Monday night is not believed to be serious, reports the New York Daily News. Wilkerson recorded 1.5 sacks, three quarterback hits and five tackles before leaving.

Dee Milliner's ankle not 100 percent Sunday

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(9/15/2014) Jets defensive back Dee Milliner admitted his ankle tightened up late in Sunday's game against the Pacers, according to the New York Daily News.

Milliner has been limited due to a high ankle sprain in recent weeks, but was able to play through it in Week 2. It remains to be seen whether Sunday was just normal soreness, or if it will continue to be an issue moving forward.
