News: The Cardinals have reportedly cut LB Monty Beisel.
Analysis: Beisel signed a one-year deal with Arizona back in March, but apparently didn't do enough in training camp to beat out rookie Daryl Washington and youngster Reggie Walker. Continue to ignore Beisel in all IDP Fantasy formats.
News: According to the Cardinals official team Web site, LB Monty Beisel agreed to a one-year contract Monday.
Analysis: Beisel has minimal Fantasy value since he's not a big stat producer. Ignore him in all IDP leagues on Draft Day.
News: The Cardinals have re-signed LB Monty Beisel and released TE Dominique Byrd. In addition, the Cardinals have re-signed defensive end Jason Banks and linebacker Pago Togafau to the team's practice squad, taking the places of released players Jed Collins and Antoine Holmes.
Analysis: None of these players were or are expected to produce enough stats to warrant Fantasy use. Keep them off of rosters for now.
News: The winless Chiefs have signed former Arizona tight end Leonard Pope, linebacker David Herron and cornerback Mike Richardson. To make room, they released cornerback Ricardo Colclough, linebacker Monty Beisel and tight end Tom Crabtree.
Analysis: The only interesting name listed above is Pope, who we thought might land with the Chiefs since his offensive coordinator in Arizona, Todd Haley, is now the head coach. Pope is one to watch once he starts to get playing time, but he and the rest of the Chiefs' additions and releases aren't worth owning in Fantasy play right now.
News: The Kansas City Chiefs have come to terms with linebacker Monty Beisel. Beisel played for the Chiefs from 2001-2004. The former Kansas State player most recently was with the Arizona Cardinals after a year in New England.
Analysis: Beisel should contribute on special teams and otherwise be a reserve option for the Chiefs. Keep him off of Fantasy rosters.
News: Cardinals LB Monty Beisel blocked a punt in overtime and returned it for a touchdown Week 6 against the Cowboys. He finished with just one tackle.
Analysis: Beisel normally only factors on special teams, so he's not worth a pickup in Fantasy despite this touchdown.
News:Cardinals veteran linebacker Monty Beisel is expected to get more involved in team practices. Beisel has been sidelined with a back injury and remains on the PUP list.
Analysis: Beisel is a backup linebacker for the Cardinals. He had 42 tackles in 16 games last season, but until he becomes a full-time player, ignore him in Fantasy.
News: The Cardinals have placed DT Gabe Watson (knee), LB Monty Beisel (undisclosed) and DT Keilen Dykes (undisclosed) on the Physically Unable to Perform list.
Analysis: None of these players are expected to produce enough stats to warrant use in Fantasy play. You can safely ignore them.
News:The Arizona Republic reports Cardinals linebacker Monty Beisel will start training camp on the PUP list.
Analysis: Beisel is only a viable Fantasy candidate in IDP Fantasy leagues. He should be fine for the regular season and should pass his physical shortly.
News: LB Monte Beisel, starting in place of Karlos Dansby (knee), recorded a team-high 12 tackles Sunday at Tampa Bay.
Analysis: Beisel continues to have great IDP Fantasy value as long as he remains in the starting lineup in Dansby's place. Keep him active for Week 10 against Detroit.
News: ILB Karlos Dansby left Sunday's game in the first quarter with a sprained knee. The Sports XChange notes that his MRI results were not available yet, but Dansby is hoping it's not more serious than a sprained MCL. Arizona plays at Washington in Week 7.
Analysis: Monty Beisel would be the player to step in if Dansby misses more time, which is highly likely at this stage. When healthy, Dansby is an excellent IDP player in his breakout season. Beisel could be worth using as a bye-week replacement in larger formats. The Cardinals rank 15th in total defense. They have 16 sacks so far, but Washington has given up only eight sacks. The Cardinals DST is one that should be reserved for this matchup.
News: Cardinals LB Monty Beisel had a team-high nine tackles in Arizona's Week 6 loss to the Panthers. The last time he had that many was back in Week 2 of the 2004 season, when he had 12 tackles.
Analysis: Beisel didn't have any tackles coming into Week 6, but took full advantage of a starting chance against the Panthers and racked up nine tackles. See how he does in Week 7 before making a move for him in IDP leagues.
News: The Cardinals re-signed linebacker Monty Beisel to a two-year contract Wednesday. Beisel played in eight games for Arizona last season, including two starts. He signed with the Cardinals as a free agent last November after being released by the Patriots. Beisel had 14 tackles, 12 solos, including a team-high eight when he started at San Francisco in place of the injured Gerald Hayes. Beisel also had an interception and six special-team tackles in 2006. The Chiefs drafted Beisel in the fourth round out of Kansas State in 2001. He played four seasons with the Chiefs and one with the Patriots before coming to Arizona.
Analysis: Beisel shouldn't be considered for Fantasy IDP league play since he doesn't put up boffo statistics on a weekly basis.
News: Veteran linebackers Monty Beisel and Chad Brown were among 10 players cut Friday by the New England Patriots one day before the team must reduce its roster to the regular-season limit of 53 players. The Patriots also traded undrafted rookie running back Patrick Cobbs to Pittsburgh for an undisclosed draft choice. The moves left 64 players on the roster. Other players released were linebacker Jeremy Mincey, wide receivers Eddie Berlin and John Stone, quarterback Corey Bramlet, cornerbacks Vernell Brown and Eric Warfield, defensive lineman Eddie Freeman, and tight end Chris Luzar.
Analysis: None of the players cut were expected to have any Fantasy impact this season.
News: With the retirement of linebacker Ted Johnson, it's possible that new Pats LB Monty Beisel could see more time on the field. Beisel is one of two new linebackers with the Patriots this year.
Analysis: Beisel is at best a sleeper option. There are better LB options out there for IDP league owners to choose.
News: The New England Patriots have signed Beisel to a two-year contract.
Analysis: With the status of Tedy Bruschi (heart) uncertain, Beisel could end up at MLB and become a nice sleeper option.
