News: Notable veterans the Patriots released on Friday include: TE Alge Crumpler, DL Ty Warren, LB Tully Banta-Cain, CB Tony Carter and DL Marcus Stroud.
Analysis: None of these veterans were in a position to put up big stats for Fantasy in the first place. Leave them all off of rosters.
News: DL Marcus Stroud, released by the Bills last month, will stay in the AFC East. On Tuesday, he signed a two-year deal with the Patriots, according to ESPN.com. Stroud, 32, is a former first-round pick out of Georgia by the Jaguars. He will enter his 11th season in the NFL, and has been to three Pro Bowls. Stroud, at 6-foot-6 and 310 pounds, didn't fit in the with Bills' plans, long term. He struggled in their switch from a 4-3 scheme to a 3-4 last season. For his career, he has 29.5 sacks and 39 passes defensed.
Analysis: This is a good move for Stroud to join the Patriots, but he has minimal Fantasy value as a run-stuffing DL. Ignore him in all IDP drafts this summer.
News: TheBills have released DL Marcus Stroud in a move that frees up salary and playing time for the team's developing players. The move was not considered a surprise after the 10-year NFL veteran struggled in making the transition in Buffalo's switch to a 3-4 defensive scheme. Stroud was scheduled to make $10 million in base salary over the final two years of his contract, including $4.5 million next season. Stroud is a three-time Pro Bowl selection, who completed his third season in Buffalo after being acquired in a trade with Jacksonville in March 2008. He had three sacks last season - matching the most he's had since 2007.
Analysis: Keep an eye on where Stroud ends up, but he has minimal Fantasy value heading into the 2011 season. Ignore him in all IDP drafts this summer.
News: Bills DL Marcus Stroud and DB Jairus Byrd, who were both listed as questionable for Week 12 vs. Miami, will play against the Dolphins.
Analysis: Byrd is worth starting in IDP league play, but Stroud isn't.
News: Bills starting defensive tackle Marcus Stroud and starting cornerback Terrence McGee are questionable for Sunday's game against Miami. Both Stroud and McGee are nursing knee injuries, and both missed last week's loss at Jacksonville. Rookie safety Jairus Byrd (groin) is also questionable.
Analysis: Byrd is worth starting in IDP league play, but the others aren't. The Bills host the run-oriented Dolphins in Week 12.
News: The Bills have listed the following players as inactive for Week 11 at Jacksonville: WR Steve Johnson, DB Terrence McGee, DB Ashton Youboty, WR James Hardy, DL Marcus Stroud and TE Joe Klopfenstein.
Analysis: Of this list of players, only Stroud has value as a No. 2 option in IDP leagues, when healthy. The rest of the player listed are not expected to carry any significant Fantasy appeal this season. Leave them on waivers until further notice.
News: Buffalo DL Marcus Stroud (knee), CB Ashton Youboty (ankle), LB Keith Ellison (thigh) and TE Derek Fine (knee) have all been ruled out of the team's Week 11 game at Jacksonville.
Analysis: Ellison and Stroud are good No. 2 options at their positions while the rest of the players have little to no Fantasy relevance.
News: Buffalo's Marcus Stroud has been ruled out because of a knee injury, meaning the NFL's worst run defense could be without both starting defensive tackles against Jacksonville this weekend. Kyle Williams has missed three games because of a knee injury, and was listed as questionable by interim head coach Perry Fewell on Friday. Williams has practiced sparingly this weekend. The Bills have only two other defensive tackles on their roster, reserves Spencer Johnson and John McCargo. While strong safety Donte Whitner is set to return after missing three games with an ankle injury, the Bills banged-up defense could be down another regular with rookie safety Jairus Byrd listed as questionable because of a nagging groin injury. Byrd has a league-leading eight interceptions to tie the Bills' rookie single-season record. He also has a five-game interception streak. And, reserve cornerback Ashton Youboty was also ruled out after hurting his ankle last weekend.
Analysis: Of these defenders, only Byrd and Whitner are worth your consideration. The rest don't belong on Fantasy rosters.
News: Notable Bills defenders from Week 5 vs. the Browns include: DL Kyle Williams (10 total tackles, sack), DB Jairus Byrd (seven total tackles, interception), LB Keith Ellison (10 total tackles) and DL Marcus Stroud (nine total tackles).
Analysis: Of these defenders, Ellison and Stroud are good No. 2 options at their positions, and Byrd should also be someone to keep an eye on. The Bills play at the Jets in Week 6.
News: Bills DL Marcus Stroud totaled four tackles and one sack during a Week 4 loss to the Dolphins. It was his second sack of the season.
Analysis: For being a defensive tackle, Stroud is very good at making plays and is even a decent pass rusher. We would usually tell you to ignore most tackles, but Stroud remains a viable Fantasy DL in larger formats.
News: Bills starting defensive tackle Marcus Stroud returned to practice after missing two days with a hamstring injury.
Analysis: Stroud should be fine for the start of the season. Named a Pro Bowl alternate last season, Stroud finished fourth on the Bills with 45 tackles, 2 1/2 sacks, two fumbles recovered and one forced fumble. It was a solid comeback by a former three-time Pro Bowl selection who had been limited by injuries the previous two years. He's still not worth using as anything more than a one-week replacement off the waiver wire, though.
News: Buffalo DL Marcus Stroud experienced a slight pull of his left hamstring as the Bills opened camp. Stroud called the injury minor, though he may miss a few practices. Coach Dick Jauron estimated he would miss a week of work.
Analysis: This injury should not limit him when the season opens.
News:Marcus Stroud's fresh start in Buffalo is paying off as the veteran defensive tackle was rewarded with a two-year contract extension potentially worth $16.5 million. Stroud's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told The Associated Press on Tuesday that his client has signed an extension that includes $12 million in guaranteed money. Stroud, coming off his first season in Buffalo after being acquired in a trade with Jacksonville, had two years left on his existing contract and is signed through the 2012 season. The Bills defense finished 14th in the league last season in yards allowed, an improvement from 31st the previous year.
Analysis: Named a Pro Bowl alternate last season, Stroud finished fourth on the Bills with 85 tackles, registered 2 1/2 sacks, recovered two fumbles and forced one fumble. It was a solid comeback by a former three-time Pro Bowl selection who had been limited by injuries the previous two years and deemed expendable by the Jaguars. The Bills gave up two draft picks - a third- and fifth-round pick in 2008 - to acquire Stroud. He's still not worth using as anything more than a one-week replacement off the waiver wire, though.
News: Buffalo DL Marcus Stroud had four tackles, a half-sack and a forced fumble Sunday at New England.
Analysis: Stroud is a low-end DL in IDP leagues and should only be used if needed in Week 11 against Cleveland.
News: Bills CB Terrence McGee, who wore a brace on his left knee and walked with a noticeable limp, was one of three defensive starters to miss practice Wednesday as the team prepared to play at Arizona. Coach Dick Jauron wouldn't rule McGee out, saying he will continue to have his sprained knee tested through the end of the week. McGee said the knee was still sore, but had improved since Monday, when he had difficulty walking. Also missing practice were DT Marcus Stroud (left shoulder) and DE Aaron Schobel (foot). They were hurt in last weekend's 31-14 win at St. Louis, but both finished the game. Jauron anticipated Stroud and Schobel returning to practice Thursday. McGee's injury is considered the most serious after the starting cornerback was hurt early in the first quarter against the Rams, when his leg was caught in the pile while making a tackle.
Analysis: If McGee can't play, the Bills would have nickelback Ashton Youboty and rookie first-round draft pick Leodis McKelvin split time opposite starter Jabari Greer against the Cardinals. Arizona (2-2) is coming off a 56-35 loss at the New York Jets. Kurt Warner had an NFL-season high 472 yards passing with two touchdowns and three interceptions. By not playing, McGee would get additional time to recuperate as the Bills are off next week until hosting San Diego on Oct. 19. If McGee is healthy and ready to go, consider him a low-end No. 2 DB for Week 5. The Bills DST is also a good start, but keep an eye on Stroud and Schobel also. Stroud and Schobel also expect to play.
News:Marcus Stroud used to dance between downs in Jacksonville, shaking his head wildly, jumping up and down and inciting the crowd. He would yell across the line of scrimmage, trying to intimidate opponents, rouse teammates and psych himself up for every play. It often worked. When he returns Sunday to the place where he spent the previous seven seasons, he'll be in a much different role. The Jaguars discarded the three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle in March, trading him to Buffalo for two second-day draft picks. Although Stroud downplayed his homecoming, his former teammates believe he wants to prove that Jacksonville made a mistake. "It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know he's going to be motivated," Jaguars defensive end Paul Spicer said. "He feels like he should still be here and he wants to show he can still play this game at a very high level, a Pro Bowl level."
Analysis: Stroud proved last week against Seattle he is still able to play at a high level. He had two sacks, seven tackles and two passes defended in the opener, a 34-10 victory. He broke through double teams, manhandled single blocks, altered Seattle's ability to run and pass, and essentially looked every bit like the guy who used to dominate the line of scrimmage for the Jaguars. "I feel good," Stroud said Wednesday. "I'm healthy, and it's just a matter of going out and playing now." Defensive tackles usually don't get a lot of sacks, so don't expect much from Stroud in that arena. He remains nothing more than a low-end Fantasy DL.
News: Bills DB Ashton Youboty led his team with eight tackles in their Week 1 win over the Seahawks. Also contributing were DB Donte Whitner (six tackles), DL Marcus Stroud (six tackles, half a sack) and LB Paul Posluszny (six tackles).
Analysis: Posluszny is a No. 2 Fantasy LB in IDP play, while Whitner has some value as a low-end starting DB. Youboty and Stroud have minimal value.
News: The Buffalo News reports new Bills defensive tackle Marcus Stroud is embracing the Bills' defensive scheme after coming from Jacksonville. Stroud has been eagerly pursuing plays and running to the whistle during the Bills' spring practices the past week. The Bills hope Stroud's running ability will be good news all season long. He is the big, new addition to a Bills defense that ranked 31st in the NFL last season. Stroud made the Pro Bowl three straight years in 2003, '04 and '05. His last two seasons were hindered by ankle injuries. Stroud missed five games in the middle of the 2006 season due to an injury that required major surgery in January 2007. Microfracture surgery was performed on the right ankle in which tiny holes are drilled into the bone to promote the regrowth of cartilage in the joint. He came back from the injury last season but missed seven games four due to a steroid-related suspension and three due to a high sprain of his right ankle.
Analysis: Stroud says the surgery on the ankle was a non-issue last season, and he is recovered from the high-ankle sprain that ended his season last December. Stroud should be considered a low-end DL in IDP leagues. Even when he's dominant he doesn't create enough plays to make an impact.
News: The Bills have acquired DT Marcus Stroud from Jacksonville and signed DT Spencer Johnson to a five-year deal. Buffalo will give the Jaguars two draft picks, a third and a fifth according to FOX Sports, in exchange for Stroud. Listed at 6-foot-6 and 310 pounds, Stroud immediately solidifies what had been an undersized defensive line that was manhandled last season and unable to take the pressure off star pass-rushing defensive end Aaron Schobel.
Analysis: While Stroud and Johnson will help Schobel's production, they're not going to post many big stats themselves. Keep both of them off Fantasy rosters in 2008.
News: The Jaguars have given three-time Pro Bowl DL Marcus Stroud permission to seek a trade, according to Florida Times-Union. Stroud will be taking a visit to Buffalo, which could lead to a trade between the two teams for the defensive tackles services. The Jaguars have given Stroud permission to shop himself in a trade. Stroud's lofty salary (a team-high $6.3 million in 2008) and struggles to stay on the field have landed him on the trading block. Stroud has missed 12 games the past two seasons because of injuries and a steroid suspension. Between 2003 and 2005, Stroud was one of the NFL's best defensive tackles. He could help upgrade a Bills defense that ranked 25th against the run (124.6-yard average) last season. Atlanta also has expressed interest in Stroud.
Analysis: Keep an eye on what happens with Stroud. His Fantasy value in IDP leagues is minimal at this point, but he would be an upgrade to the Bills defense.
News: Jaguars DL Marcus Stroud only played in nine games in 2007 due to an ankle injury, which forced him on injured reserve. Stroud finished the year with 22 tackles and three sacks.
Analysis: Stroud is expected to make a full recovery in 2008, but this is the second year in a row he's missed time with an ankle injury after playing in only 11 games in 2006. Consider Stroud a low-end DL in IDP leagues since his main value is as a run-stuffer and not much else.
News: The Jacksonville Jaguars placed three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Marcus Stroud on injured reserve Wednesday, three days after he reinjured his surgically repaired right ankle. Stroud hurt his ankle Sunday when teammate John Henderson fell on him during the first play of the third quarter against Carolina. Stroud sustained a deep bone bruise, a similar injury that hobbled him late last season. He eventually had offseason microfracture surgery. Stroud acknowledged he took supplements to help recover from the operation and later tested positive for a banned substance and was suspended. Coach Jack Del Rio said Stroud will be sidelined at least six weeks, too long for the Jaguars to consider keeping him on the active roster. "It's a shame to lose him, but that's the situation," Del Rio said. "Like we've done all year when we lose people, we'll do the best we can to have other people step up, step in and play well, and we expect to continue to play good football."
Analysis: Stroud was barely a decent Fantasy option when healthy, so this shouldn't impact many Fantasy owners. The Jags play at Pittsburgh in Week 15.
News: The Jacksonville Jaguars activated defensive tackle Marcus Stroud on Friday, the final step in his return from a four-game suspension. Stroud rejoined the team Monday and practiced all week in preparation for Sunday's game against Carolina. The three-time Pro Bowl lineman was suspended Nov. 6 for violating the league's steroids and related substances policy. To make room on the roster for Stroud, the Jaguars released linebacker Marquis Cooper.
Analysis: Stroud is worth a look only in the deepest of IDP leagues. Cooper shouldn't be on any Fantasy roster.
News: Jaguars defensive tackle Marcus Stroud played dominoes with teammates Wednesday, then practiced with them for the first time in more than a month. The three-time Pro Bowl defender was glad to be back, ready to move on and willing to talk about every aspect of his four-game suspension for violating the league's steroid and related substances policy. "The only thing that was tough about it is I didn't want people to think I was a cheat," Stroud said. "God gave me this talent to play football, and I feel like I do it well, and I don't need any juice or anything else to help me." Stroud was suspended four games without pay Nov. 4, following a positive test for a banned supplement. Stroud said a doctor in Atlanta gave him the over-the-counter supplements as part of his rehabilitation from offseason ankle surgery. Stroud said he checked the bottle's ingredients with "the little booklet we get from the NFL" and found nothing illegal.
Analysis: Stroud was as surprised as anyone when the NFL notified him of his positive test. "I'm not here to point fingers at anybody," Stroud said, adding he has since severed ties with the doctor. "I made a mistake. I took them. It's on me. It's my responsibility. All the stuff was stuff out of any nutrition store. It wasn't like I was going online or going to the Orlando pharmacy." Stroud said it was the first time in his career he had ever taken a supplement. He also guaranteed it would be the last. Stroud has 33 tackles and three sacks in eight games. He could provide a boost for a defense that has struggled to pressure quarterbacks without blitzing and allowed a league-high 47 pass plays of 20 or more yards. He is merely a low-end Fantasy DL when active.
News: Three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Marcus Stroud rejoined the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday after completing a four-game suspension for violating the league's steroid and related substances policy. The Jaguars (8-4) went 3-1 without the 6-foot-6, 310-pound defensive linemen, but his return was a welcome sign for a team that has struggled to pressure quarterbacks without blitzing.
Analysis: Stroud has 33 tackles and three sacks in eight games. And given four weeks to rest his troublesome right ankle, the one that required micro-fracture surgery in the offseason, the Jags expect him to be rejuvenated. "He'll be hungry because of the time he missed," Del Rio said. "His body ought to feel great because he had a little bit of a break. I'm sure he'll be anxious to get back and get back to work." Like most defensive tackles, though, Stroud has merely low-end value in Fantasy.
News: Jaguars defensive tackle Marcus Stroud was suspended without pay by the NFL for four games on Tuesday for violating the NFL's steroids and related substances policy. Stroud, a three-time Pro Bowl lineman, admitted last week that he had taken supplements following offseason micro-fracture surgery on his right ankle. He said he was no longer taking the supplements, adding that he didn't plan to appeal the league's suspension. "I've been doing this for seven years," Stroud told WFXJ-AM radio in Jacksonville. "I don't have to take any of that stuff to get ahead to play on anything. I feel like I've got great God-given ability and it's just something that's misfortunate. Rules are rules, and I've got to abide by the rules like everybody else. If it was something that the NFL says is an illegal supplement or something I took, it's on me to know exactly what I'm putting in my body."
Analysis: Stroud is a one of the better defensive tackles in the NFL, but his Fantasy value is limited to larger IDP formats. His suspension shouldn't impact many owners.
News: Jaguars DL Marcus Stroud (thigh) is listed as probable for Week 9 at New Orleans. He went through a full practice Thursday and Friday after limited reps on Wednesday. Stroud continues to practice, and appears as though will play Sunday, as reports surfaced Wednesday that he will be suspended four games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, according to the Florida Times-Union. Stroud allegedly took a supplement that is banned by the league. He is not expected to appeal the suspension.
Analysis: Stroud is a one of the better defensive tackles in the NFL, but his Fantasy value is limited to larger IDP formats. He has been on the injury report plenty this season, but has yet to miss a game. The NFL has yet to announce the suspension and it appears as though Stroud might play against the Saints. Continue to follow the news leading up to Sunday.

News: The Florida Times-Union reports that DT Marcus Stroud will be suspended four games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, according to a source. Stroud allegedly took a supplement that is banned by the league. He is not expected to appeal the suspension.
Analysis: At least Stroud will be healthy when he comes back from the suspension later this year. When active, he's at best a low-end DL since he doesn't get many stats at the defensive tackle position.
News: The Jaguars inked DT Grady Jackson to a one-year deal on Tuesday, solidifying their defensive line. Jackson was a surprise cut by the Falcons about a week earlier. To make room for him, the team put DL Tony McDaniel on injured reserve with a wrist injury. But the more surprising news is that the Florida Times-Union reports that DT Marcus Stroud will be suspended four games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, according to a source.
Analysis: Jacksonville's defense is still in for a tough contest at New Orleans in Week 9; the Saints have rebounded since starting the year 0-4. Still, expect Jacksonville to record some sacks and takeaways, making them a low-end No. 1 Fantasy DST. As for Stroud, at least he will be healthy when he comes back from the suspension later this year.
News: Jaguars DL Marcus Stroud (ankle) was able to play Week 8 against the Bucs despite an ankle injury that limited him in practice all week. Stroud managed three tackles (two solo) and 1/2 sack in the win over the Bucs. He now has 21 tackles and three sacks in seven games.
Analysis: Stroud is a one of the better defensive tackles in the NFL, but his Fantasy value is limited to larger IDP formats. He has been on the injury report plenty this season, but has yet to miss a game.
News: Because an ankle injury limited DL Marcus Stroud in practice all week, the Jaguars have listed him as questionable for Week 8 at Tampa Bay. He has 18 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks through six games.
Analysis: Stroud is a one of the better defensive tackles in the NFL, but his Fantasy value is limited to larger IDP formats. Since he's appeared on the injury report with this same injury over the last few weeks and played anyway, expect him to go on Sunday.

News: Jaguars DL Marcus Stroud (ankle) and Paul Spicer (thigh) are both active for Week 6 vs. Houston.
Analysis: Stroud has 2.5 sacks this season and remains a useful option in deeper Fantasy IDP leagues when healthy. Spicer is a very low-end IDP option.
News: Jaguars DL Marcus Stroud (ankle) had limited participation in practice Thursday and Friday, but the Jaguars list him as probable for Week 6 against the Texans.
Analysis: Stroud has 2.5 sacks this season and remains a useful option in deeper Fantasy IDP leagues when healthy.
News: Notable Jaguars defenders from Week 5 at Kansas City include: SS Sammy Knight (eight solo tackles), LB Mike Peterson (six solo tackles), CB Rashean Mathis (five total tackles), DE Rob Meier (two tackles, sack), DE Paul Spicer (two total tackles, sack) and rookie FS Reggie Nelson (one tackle, interception). DL Marcus Stroud (two solo hits) and DL John Henderson (one assist) also played.
Analysis: Of these players, Knight, Peterson and Mathis are must-starts in all IDP leagues. Everyone else is worth a look in deeper IDP leagues. The Jaguars play vs. Houston in Week 6.
News: The Jaguars allowed just 265 yards of total offense and 14 points in Week 3 at Denver. Sammy Knight had an interception and LB Brian Iwuh and DL Marcus Stroud both recovered fumbles. DL Reggie Hayward had their only sack of the game.
Analysis: The Jags defense continues to be one of the more underrated units in Fantasy football. In leagues that penalize yardage, they are an above-average unit. Consider using Knight and Hayward in larger IDP formats. Iwuh isn't worth owning at this time.
News: Jaguars DL Marcus Stroud had five tackles and a sack Sunday against the Falcons.
Analysis: Consider Stroud a low-end DL in IDP leagues in Week 3 against Denver.
News: The Jaguars left DL Marcus Stroud (shin) off the injury report Week 2 against the Falcons, meaning he'll suit up and play.
Analysis: Stroud had an excellent Week 1 against the Titans, recording seven tackles and one sack. Stroud usually doesn't rack up enough stats, but is a serviceable low-end Fantasy DL at times.
News: Jaguars DL Marcus Stroud (shin) is probable for Week 2 vs. Atlanta. Stroud did not practice Thursday or Friday.
Analysis: Stroud had an excellent Week 1 against the Titans, recording seven tackles and one sack. Stroud usually doesn't rack up enough stats, but is a serviceable low-end Fantasy DL at times. Despite not practicing, the Jaguars seem confident he will play against the Falcons.
News: Jaguars DL Marcus Stroud (shin) did not practice Thursday as the team prepares for a Week 2 showdown vs. Atlanta.
Analysis: Stroud had an excellent Week 1 against the Titans, recording seven tackles and one sack. Stroud usually doesn't rack up enough stats, but is a serviceable low-end Fantasy DL at times.
News: Notable Jaguars defenders from Week 1 vs. Tennessee include: Rookie DB Reggie Nelson (seven tackles, one sack, one forced fumble), LB Mike Peterson (eight total tackles), DT Marcus Stroud (seven total tackles, sack) and CB Rashean Mathis (two tackles, interception).
Analysis: Peterson and Mathis are Fantasy IDP studs that should remain active. Reggie Nelson is also someone on the rise, especially if he can continue to rack up lots of tackles. Stroud is a decent low-end Fantasy DL. All of these players should be used in Week 2 IDP league play when the Falcons come calling.
News: Jaguars DL Marcus Stroud (ankle) was able to play during Thursday's preseason game against the Packers. He had three tackles (two solo) in the game.
Analysis: Stroud is a nice NFL player, but doesn't do much in terms of Fantasy play. Ignore him in Fantasy leagues.
News: Jaguars QB Quinn Gray (ankle), LB Clint Ingram (ankle), DL Paul Spicer (back) and DL Marcus Stroud (ankle) did not play during Saturday's preseason game against the Bucs.
Analysis: Stroud is a nice NFL player, but doesn't do much in terms of Fantasy play. Ignore him in Fantasy leagues.
News: Jaguars DL Marcus Stroud (ankle) did not play during Saturday's preseason game against the Dolphins.
Analysis: Stroud is a nice NFL player, but doesn't do much in terms of Fantasy play. Ignore him in Fantasy leagues.
News: Although Jaguars defensive tackle Marcus Stroud (ankle) has received medical clearance to practice, several players will be sidelined for the start of training camp. Defensive end Reggie Hayward (Achilles' tendon) has not been cleared to practice. Tight end George Wrighster (labrum) and rookie defensive end Brian Smith (hip) are expected to miss at least part of camp, and third-string quarterback Quinn Gray could be headed to the physically-unable-to-perform list because of a sprained ankle.
Analysis: Even with Gray out of the picture, the Jaguars don't expect to add free agent quarterback Daunte Culpepper to the roster. Gray is nothing more than a No. 3 QB with the Jags and someone not to concern yourself with in Fantasy leagues. Stroud is a nice NFL player, but doesn't do much in terms of Fantasy play. Hayward played in only one game last season and there is no telling how he will rebound from injury. Ignore him on Draft Day. The same goes for Smith. Wrightster had some moments last season, but is nothing more than a No. 3 Fantasy TE.
News: Jaguars DL Tony McDaniel (hip) is questionable, while RB Derrick Wimbush (ankle), LB Jorge Cordova (hamstring), DB Rashean Mathis (illness) and DL Marcus Stroud (ankle) are listed as probable for 17 at Kansas City.
Analysis: Only Mathis should be used for Fantasy purposes in Week 17. Ignore the other injured players.
News: Jaguars DL Tony McDaniel (hip) is questionable, while DB Ahmad Carroll (groin), LB Jorge Cordova (hamstring), RB Montell Owens (head), DL Marcus Stroud (ankle) and RB Derrick Wimbush (ankle) are listed as probable for Week 16 vs. New England.
Analysis: None of these players are recommended Fantasy options for Week 16.
News: Notable Jaguars defenders from Week 15 include: DE Bobby McCray (five tackles, sack, forced fumble), LB Clint Ingram (seven total tackles, one-half sack), DE Rob Meier (tackle, sack) and DT Marcus Stroud (one assist, one-half sack).
Analysis: None of these defenders should be considered useful for Fantasy play.
News: Jaguars DB Nick Sorensen (hamstring) is out, while DB Terry Cousin (groin), DB Brian Williams (hamstring), RB Montell Owens (shoulder), LB Jorge Cordova (hamstring), TE George Wrighster (shoulder), LB Clint Ingram (shoulder), LB Kenneth Pettway (groin), LB Daryl Smith (shoulder), RB Derrick Wimbush (ankle), DB Ahmad Carroll (groin), WR Cortez Hankton (hamstring) and DL Marcus Stroud (ankle) are listed as probable for Week 15 at Tennessee.
Analysis: Ingram and Wrighster are the only injured players worth owning at this time and both are likely to play in Week 15. It is safe to ignore the other players for Week 13.
News: The Jaguars DST got a 93-yard kickoff return from Maurice Jones-Drew against the Colts. LB Daryl Smith had eight tackles and a sack. DB Brian Williams had six tackles. DL Marcus Stroud had three tackles and a sack. DB Gerald Sensabaugh had two tackles and an interception. DL John Henderson had four tackles. DB Rashean Mathis had three tackles.
Analysis: Consider the Jaguars a No. 2 DST option against the Titans. Use all IDP players as needed.
News: Jaguars RB Montell Owens (shoulder), LB Jorge Cordova (hamstring), DB Terry Cousin (groin), WR Cortez Hankton (hamstring), LB Clint Ingram (shoulder), DB Ahmad Carroll (groin), LB Kenneth Pettway (knee), LB Daryl Smith (shoulder), DB Nick Sorensen (hamstring), DL Marcus Stroud (ankle), DB Brian Williams (hamstring) and RB Derrick Wimbush (ankle) are listed as probable for Week 14 vs. Indianapolis.
Analysis: Ingram and Smith are the only injured players worth using for Fantasy purposes in Week 14. Ignore the other injured players for now.
News: The Jaguars DST had two interceptions and four sacks against Miami. DB Rashean Mathis had five tackles and an interception. DB Gerald Sensabaugh had seven tackles and an interception. DL Marcus Stroud had three tackles and a sack. DL Bobby McCray had a sack. DL Rob Meier had a sack. LB Kenneth Pettway had a sack. LB Daryl Smith had four tackles. LB Clint Ingram had eight tackles.
Analysis: Consider the Jaguars a low-end No. 2 DST for Week 14 against the Colts. Use all IDP players as needed despite the difficult matchup.
News: Jaguars DB Terry Cousin (groin) is doubtful, DB Brian Williams (hamstring), DB Nick Sorensen (hamstring) and RB Montell Owens (shoulder) are questionable, while LB Jorge Cordova (hamstring), TE George Wrighster (shoulder), LB Clint Ingram (shoulder), LB Kenneth Pettway (groin), LB Daryl Smith (shoulder), RB Derrick Wimbush (ankle), DB Ahmad Carroll (groin), WR Cortez Hankton (hamstring) and DL Marcus Stroud (ankle) are listed as probable for Week 13 at Miami.
Analysis: Ingram and Wrighster are the only injured players worth owning at this time. Continue to monitor their status the rest of the week, but those two players are listed as probable and are likely to play Week 13. It is safe to ignore the other players for Week 13.
News: Jaguars DB Terry Cousin (groin) is doubtful, WR Cortez Hankton (hamstring), DB Brian Williams (hamstring) are questionable, while LB Jorge Cordova (hamstring), TE George Wrighster (shoulder), DL John Henderson (hamstring), LB Clint Ingram (shoulder), DB Rashean Mathis (ankle) LB Kenneth Pettway (groin), DB Nick Sorensen (calf) and DL Marcus Stroud (ankle) are listed as probable for Week 12 at Buffalo.
Analysis: Henderson, Ingram and Mathis are the only injured players worth using for Fantasy purposes at this time. Continue to monitor their status the rest of the week, but those three players are listed as probable and are likely to play Week 12. It is safe to ignore the other players for Week 12.
News: Jaguars defensive tackles Marcus Stroud and John Henderson remained questionable on the injury report, but both players participated in a portion of Saturday's practice. Stroud has missed five consecutive games since injuring his ankle Oct. 1 against Washington. Pro Bowl defensive tackle Marcus Stroud (ankle) was officially ruled out, and will miss his fifth consecutive game.
Analysis: Mathis, Henderson and Darius can be relied upon to start in Fantasy play (Mathis is the only lock to play in all IDP leagues). Owners hanging on to Stroud may want to find someone else to use the roster spot on.

News: Jags DT Marcus Stroud finally sat out the Jets' game before the bye, but he says he'll return to the lineup Sunday in Houston even though he's still not 100 percent. He only sat out in Week 5 because the coaches insisted. Stroud, who got out of the boot he's been wearing on his right ankle Monday, said he's feeling better after two weeks off, but he's still not completely healed. Stroud didn't practice Monday when the Jaguars returned to drills after having the bye weekend off and doesn't know if he'll get the green light to practice Wednesday when the Jaguars open practice drills for Sunday's game at Houston. Still, he has no doubt he'll play Sunday. "Definitely," he said.

News: Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio said Wednesday that DT Marcus Stroud is listed as doubtful for Week 5 vs. the Jets with ankle and groin injuries. He did not practice on Wednesday. "He's been playing through an ankle, and he's a Pro Bowl player who's banged up and he's doing the best he can to fight through it," Del Rio said. "Last week he also sustained an injury in his groin, so now he has two injuries he's fighting through. We just don't know if he's going to be able to be effective enough to help us on Sunday."
Analysis: If Stroud sits out, they may move Rob Meier back to tackle from end and play Bobby McCray at end. Owners shouldn't be too interested in Stroud as he's a defensive tackle that doesn't put up a ton of stats in Fantasy IDP league play.
News: Defensive tackle Marcus Stroud, who's never missed a game in his six years with the Jaguars, may sit out Sunday's game against the Jets with ankle and groin injuries. Since they have a bye following the Jets game, coach Jack Del Rio said he's considering holding out Stroud. "What I'm wrestling with is I do recognize there's a window of time here. We're talking about close to 3 weeks, 2 1-2 weeks if you rest those guys. We're also wrestling with the importance of each and every game and the importance of this game against the Jets. What we have to determine as a staff is how can we best prepare our football team to win this game and also be aware of the fact we need to get these guys healthy for the season that we have in front of us. That's giving you a snapshot of the things that are in my mind right now," he said. The Jaguars have been ravaged by injuries on the defensive line that that contributed to the Redskins rolling up 481 yards in a 36-30 OT win Sunday.
Analysis: If Stroud sits out -- and he said he's leaning towards doing that -- they may move Rob Meier back to tackle from end and play Bobby McCray at end. Owners shouldn't be too interested in Stroud as he's a defensive tackle that doesn't put up a ton of stats in Fantasy IDP league play.

"We want to be prepared, but we also want to be as healthy and fresh as possible for the game," coach Jack Del Rio said. "We have to get our team ready to play and have a contingency plan in case some guy doesn't respond."
Analysis: It looks as though the Jaguars want to be prepared to take on the Colts and QB Peyton Manning. Having Mathis, Spicer, Stroud and Darius back at practice on Thursday is a definite boost to the Jaguars D. For IDP purposes, Mathis and Darius should be starting if healthy. The Jaguars have played well as a team in recent games against the Colts, but it is still a big risk starting a DST against Manning. You make the call.
