Lawrence Tynes unhappy with NFI designation

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(9/1/2013) Buccaneers kicker Lawrence Tynes will miss the entire season due to an MRSA infection and he believes he contracted the problem at Tampa Bay's team facility, NBC Sports reports Sunday.

Tynes said that by adding him to the non-football injury list, instead of injured reserve, the Bucs are not affording him certain benefits that he should be receiving.

"This whole thing is wrong," Tynes said. "My biggest emphasis is I don’t want this to happen to any current or future player. I’m going to fight this thing as long as I have to, because this team should not be allowed to do this to players. If I drop a 45-pound plate on my foot while lifting weights in the weight room at the facility, it’s IR. So I just don’t understand how my situation is any different. I went to work, I kicked, I practiced, I cold-tubbed, I hot-tubbed, I showered for all those days there. I come up with MRSA and it’s a non-football injury? They’re basically trying to exonerate themselves of this, and I’m not going to allow it to happen."

Lawrence Tynes goes home for treatment

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(8/28/2013) Buccaneers kicker Lawrence Tynes returned to his home in Kansas City to get additional treatment for his staph infection, reports the Tampa Bay Times. Tynes received a peripherally inserted central catheter "used when a patient is expected to get antibiotics for more than a few days," the report said.

A PICC line can remain in place for weeks or months, according to the report.

It appears Rian Lindell will kick for Tampa Bay in Week 1.

Lawrence Tynes, Carl Nicks recovering from staph infections

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(8/27/2013) Buccaneers coach Greg Schiano said guard Carl Nicks and kicker Lawrence Tynes are progressing in their recoveries from staph infections.

"They’re responding well," Schiano said, per ESPN. "Carl, I know more about because he’s here. Carl’s healing up. Timeline, I don’t know. I can’t put a definite date on it. But he is healing, he’s recovering. Lawrence, he’s not in town. But everything that can be done is being done to make sure everybody recovers."

Buccaneers down eight players

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(8/24/2013) The Buccaneers have listed their inactives for Saturday's preseason game against the Dolphins, according to the team's official website.

The following players ruled out include: kicker Lawrence Tynes, running back Michael Smith, fulback Erik Lorig, tight end Zach Miller, wide receiver Chris Owusu, defensive back Danny Gorrer and defensive end Aaron Morgan.

Report: Lawrence Tynes' infection motivated Rian Lindell signing

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(8/22/2013) The Buccaneers signed placekicker Rian Lindell on Wednesday because starter Lawrence Tynes was forced to undergo toe surgery due to an MRSA outbreak at the facility, according to Fox Sports. Guard Carl Nicks is also fighting the infection.

Buccaneers sign Rian Lindell

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(8/21/2013) The Buccaneers signed kicker Rian Lindell on Wednesday, where he'll kick in place of Lawrence Tynes, who is battling a foot injury. The team waived linebacker Joe Holland.

Lindell spent a decade with the Bills and holds the franchise record for career field goal percentage of 83.3 pct.

Briefly unemployed Lindell now employed by Bucs

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(8/21/2013) Placekicker Rian Lindell was not out of a job for long. He has been signed by the Buccaneers, reports ESPN.com, after having been released by the Bills on Monday. Lindell, who played 10 seasons for the Bills, was in the second year of a $10.9 million contract.

The Bucs brought Lindell aboard as insurance in case Lawrence Tynes cannot recover from a toe injury in time for the regular season.

Buccaneers make some roster tweaks

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(7/24/2013) The Buccaneers announced a series of moves on Wednesday, the most significant of which being the placement of kicker Connor Barth on the reserve/NFI list. Barth hurt his Achilles in a charity basketball game and will be replaced by Lawrence Tynes on the roster.

Also the Buccaneers signed guard Jeremy Lewis, put running back Jeff Demps on the reserve/Did Not Report list, listed punter Michael Koenen on the active/NFI list and posted tight end Luke Stocker and defensive end Markus White on the active/PUP list. Of those players, only Stocker and Koenen figure to be key contributors this season.

Bucs sign Lawrence Tynes

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(7/17/2013) The Buccaneers announced Wednesday that kicker Connor Barth suffered a torn Achilles tendon on July 12 in his hometown of Wilmington, N.C. Barth will be placed on the Non-Football Injury list and miss the 2013 season after undergoing successful surgery Monday.

The team also announced that it has signed nine-year veteran kicker Lawrence Tynes to a one-year deal.

"We are disappointed to lose a productive player like Connor, but are very fortunate to be able to sign an experienced kicker at this time of year," general manager Mark Dominik said. "Lawrence and his agent, Ken Harris, had other standing opportunities, but we are pleased that they thought this was the right place for Lawrence to continue his career."

Tynes, a Pro Bowl first alternate last season, joins the Buccaneers from the New York Giants, where he played the last six seasons and was instrumental in the team winning two Super Bowls. In his Giants career, Tynes has played in 81 games and converted 122 of 146 field goals attempts (83.6 percent). In 2012, Tynes' 145 points ranked second in the NFL, while his 33 field goals made tied for the second-most in the league. Both were career highs.

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(3/13/2013) The Giants have signed kicker Josh Brown, likely signaling the end of Lawrence Tynes' tenure with the team.
