News: Pittsburgh nose tackle Chris Hoke announced his retirement Wednesday. He was placed on IR last season and had to undergo season-ending neck surgery on Dec. 14. He played in six games in 2011, starting twice while recording three tackles.
Analysis: The 11-year Steelers veteran was an undrafted rookie free agent out of BYU in 2001. Pittsburgh recorded a 17-1 mark in his 18 career starts when he filled in for Casey Hampton in rare injury situations. He has no Fantasy value having retired from the game.
News: With NT Chris Hoke (neck surgery) and RB Jonathan Dwyer (foot) sidelined indefinitely, the Steelers made roster moves to provide able bodies on the roster for Thursday nights game against Cleveland. Hoke and Dwyer were placed on injured reserve, and ILB Mortty Ivy and S DaMon Cromartie-Smith were activated from the practice squad.
Analysis: Hoke and Dwyer were just backups for the Steelers and didn't have any Fantasy value. Ivy and Cromartie-Smith will provide depth for Pittsburgh, but don't add them in Fantasy.
News: Longtime Steelers DL Chris Hoke is scheduled to undergo neck surgery that will end his season and possibly his NFL career, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Tuesday. Hoke had a stinger Oct. 16 while starting for injured Casey Hampton and hasnt played since.
Analysis: Hoke has played all 10 seasons in the NFL with the Steelers, but wasn't a major Fantasy force. He finished with just three tackles this season and did not record a sack for the third straight year. Fantasy owners should continue to ignore him in all formats.
News: The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported Monday that the Steelers have agreed to bring back DL Chris Hoke. Terms of the one-year deal were not disclosed. Hoke had just 12 tackles in 15 games last seas, but his role on the club is to occupy blockers.
Analysis: Hoke is heading into his 10th NFL season, and he has a total of 80 tackles and two sacks in his career. He will not get numbers worthy of Fantasy ownership even in the deepest of IDP formats, so ignore him on Draft Day.
News: Late in the game Sunday against Arizona, DL Chris Hoke left with a neck strain.
Analysis: Hoke's status for Week 5 against Seattle is unknown, but even when healthy he has minimal Fantasy value.
News: Hoke (knee) was able to play in Sunday's preseason game against the Eagles, posting one assist. Lawrence Timmons (groin) posted two solo tackles, two assists and a special teams tackle in the preseason win.
Analysis: Hoke doesn't rack up enough statistics to warrant use in Fantasy IDP play.
News: Steelers LB Lawrence Timmons (groin) and DL Chris Hoke (knee) did not play Saturday against the Redskins.
Analysis: Hoke doesn't rack up enough stats to warrant use in Fantasy play.
News: Backup nose tackle Chris Hoke signed a three-year contract extension with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday. Hoke, a seven-year veteran from BYU, had one year left on his contract. The extension will keep him with the Steelers through the 2010 season. Hoke has played in 45 games with the Steelers and started 11, including 10 games in 2004 when he replaced injured starter Casey Hampton for much of the season.
Analysis: Hoke doesn't rack up enough stats to warrant use in Fantasy play.
News: Steelers NT Casey Hampton left the Falcons game at halftime with a hamstring injury and did not return. Chris Hoke played the entire second half in his place.
Analysis: Neither Hampton nor Hoke rack up enough stats to warrant use in Fantasy play.
News: The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Chris Hoke will likely replace Casey Hampton (knee) who is out for the season at nose tackle.
Analysis: Hoke is not worth picking up in Fantasy leagues.
