News: WR Andre Davis was one of five players cut by Houston on Friday, joining DB Eugene Wilson, LB Darnell Bing, LB Isaiah Greenhouse and DT DeMario Pressley. Davis spent the 2010 season on injured reserve with a hip ailment. He is mostly known for scoring touchdowns on consecutive kickoff returns (97 and 104 yards) against Jacksonville in 2007.
Analysis: Davis has had some decent seasons in the past -- 40 receptions in 2003 as a member of the Browns -- but his productions has decreased recently. He tallied only six receptions in 2009 and has not scored a touchdown in his last two seasons played. Leave him on waivers in all Fantasy formats for 2011.
News: Houston placed WR Andre Davis (hip) on injured reserve Saturday. He was not expected to do much if he stayed healthy with the Texans already loaded at WR with Andre Johnson, Jacoby Jones and Kevin Walter on top of the depth chart.
Analysis: Davis has minimal Fantasy value when healthy since his best days are behind him. Ignore him in all leagues in 2010.
News: Texans coach Gary Kubiak said the team will likely keep five wide receivers but could add a sixth by Sunday after perusing the waiver wire. He added that Andre Davis (tailbone) will likely be placed on IR.
Analysis: Davis has had some seasons with 30-plus catches in the NFL, but his biggest strength has always been on special teams as a kick returner. He doesn't have much Fantasy appeal outside of leagues that reward for return yards, so if he ends up on IR, owners won't lose much.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis (tailbone) has been out for several weeks, but coach Gary Kubiak said Monday that won't be held against him when the roster is trimmed to 53. "We're trying to evaluate it now," Kubiak said. "It's not his fault he got nicked up."
Analysis: Davis is likely behind Andre Johnson, Kevin Walter and Jacoby Jones on the depth chart, so even if he makes the final roster he wouldn't see much playing time. Davis does have value on special teams, but he doesn't do much for Fantasy owners. Ignore him in all leagues on Draft Day.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis is battling for a roster spot with two years remaining on a four-year, $16 million contract. "I know how the business goes, and that's why I continue to prove why I deserve to be here," he said Wednesday.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis had one catch for 10 yards Sunday against New England.
Analysis: Davis is a low-end Fantasy WR for the Texans and should not be used in the majority of leagues going forward for Houston.
News: Texans RB Vonta Leach, WR Andre Davis, WR Glenn Martinez, TE James Casey and QB Rex Grossman all dressed for Houston's Week 16 win at Miami but failed to record an offensive stat.
Analysis: None of these players ever does enough statistically to matter in Fantasy. Leave them all on waivers for Week 17 vs. New England.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis had one catch for 21 yards Week 15 at St. Louis. The catch was his first since Week 7 and his fifth of the season.
Analysis: Davis is too low on the depth chart to make an impact in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers for Week 16 at Miami.
News: Houston WR Andre Davis was relegated to returning kicks in Week 14 against the Seahawks. He did not factor offensively in the Week 14 game.
Analysis: Davis clearly is not a viable Fantasy option at this time. Leave him on waivers for Week 15 at St. Louis.
News: The Texans had five players dress Sunday at the Jaguars who did not record an offensive stat with TE Anthony Hill, WR Andre Davis, WR Glenn Martinez, TE James Casey and RB Arian Foster.
Analysis: None of these players are worth using in the majority of leagues when active. Keep them all reserved in Week 14 against Seattle.
News: The Texans had four players dress Sunday against the Colts who did not record an offensive stat with TE Anthony Hill, backup QB Rex Grossman, WR Andre Davis and RB Ryan Moats.
Analysis: Moats has minimal Fantasy value now that Steve Slaton is back as the starter and Chris Brown is the backup. Ignore Moats and the rest of these players in Week 13 at Jacksonville.
News: Houston WR Andre Davis was relegated to returning kickoffs on Monday night of Week 11 against Tennessee. Davis did not make an offensive touch in the game.
Analysis: Davis has exactly four catches this season for 28 yards. He clearly is not a viable Fantasy option at this time. Leave him on waivers for Week 12 against the Colts.
News: Texans RB Chris Brown, WR Andre Davis and backup QB Rex Grossman didn't record offensive stats Week 9 vs. the Colts.
Analysis: None of these players are worth using in Week 11 against Tennessee following their team bye. Ignore them in all leagues.
News: Houston WR Andre Davis was relegated to returning kickoffs in a Week 8 win at Buffalo.
Analysis: Davis doesn't put up enough stats on a regular basis to warrant Fantasy use. Keep him off of rosters. The Texans play at Indianapolis in Week 9.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis caught a pass for 14 yards vs. the 49ers in Week 7.
Analysis: He doesn't put up enough stats on a regular basis to warrant Fantasy use. Keep him off of rosters. The Texans play at the Bills in Week 8.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis, RB Ryan Moats, TE James Casey, TE Joel Dreessen and QB Rex Grossman didn't record offensive stats Week 6 at Cincinnati.
Analysis: None of these players are worth using in Week 7 against San Francisco. Ignore them in all leagues.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis, RB Ryan Moats, TE James Casey and QB Rex Grossman didn't record offensive stats Week 5 at Arizona.
Analysis: None of these players ever does enough statistically to matter in Fantasy. Leave them all on waivers.
News: Texans QB Rex Grossman, RB Chris Brown, RB Vonta Leach, WR Andre Davis and TE James Casey did not record an offensive statistic in Week 4 against Oakland.
Analysis: Aside from Brown, none of the players on this list figure to have much Fantasy appeal in the near future. Until their role changes, they should be left on the waiver wire in all leagues.
News: The Texans have announced their inactives for Week 2 at Tennessee. Out are WRs Andre Davis and Kevin Walter, DB Antwaun Molden, DB Jacques Reeves and DL Shaun Cody.
Analysis: Walter is the big name among this group, but with his hamstring injury and the expected wet conditions in Tennessee, he isn't a huge surprise inactive. Davis can have some low-end Fantasy value when healthy, but was declared out earlier in the week. The other guys all have zero Fantasy value.
News: Houston WR Andre Davis will not play in Week 2's game against the Titans after suffering a concussion Week 1.
Analysis: Davis might be worth a shot as a one-week replacement in deeper leagues later on in the season when healthy, but he should not be owned in most leagues at this time. Do not have him active for Week 2.
News: Texans WR Andre' Davis suffered a concussion late in the team's Week 1 game against the Jets and did not return.
Analysis: Davis might be worth a shot as a one-week replacement in deeper leagues later on in the season, but he should not be owned in most leagues at this time.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis, starting in place of the injured Kevin Walter (hamstring), caught just three balls for 14 yards in a Week 1 loss to the Jets.
Analysis: Walter shouldn't be out for much longer, so Davis' Fantasy value remains pretty minimal heading into Week 2 at Tennessee.
News: The Texans listed WR Kevin Walter (hamstring) among their inactives for Week 1 vs. the Jets. WR Andre Davis will start in his place, opposite WR Andre Johnson.
Analysis: This is a shame, as Walter should be in for a nice 2009 season as part of what is expected to be an explosive Texans offense. Be sure to bench him for Week 1 and just hope he gets back sooner rather than later. Davis might be worth a shot as a one-week replacement in deeper leagues if you can grab him off the waiver before the 1 p.m. kickoff.
News: WR Andre Davis, QB Sage Rosenfels, RB Ryan Moats, WR Jacoby Jones, TE Clark Harris, WR Darnell Jenkins and WR David Anderson all failed to record a stat Week 16 at Oakland.
Analysis: Rosenfels won't see any playing time so long as Schaub is healthy and the same goes for Moats as long as Slaton is good to go. The rest of these players have little to no value in Fantasy.
News: In the Texans' 13-12 win vs. the Titans in Week 15, FB Vonta Leach, TE Clark Harris, WRs Andre Davis and Jacoby Jones, RB Ryan Moats and backup QB Sage Rosenfels were all active and dressed but did not record any offensive stats in the game.
Analysis: Rosenfels is useless so long as Matt Schaub is under center, and Moats won't see regular work unless Steve Slaton misses playing time. As you might expect, none of these players are worth using in Fantasy play. Keep them off of rosters. The Texans host the Raiders in Week 16.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis had two catches for 22 yards Sunday at Green Bay.
Analysis: Davis is a low-end Fantasy WR and should not be used in Week 15 against the Titans.
News: Texans RB Vonta Leach, WR Andre Davis, RB Cecil Sapp, TE Bryan Pittman and WR David Anderson didn't record offensive statistics Week 13 against the Jaguars.
Analysis: None of these players ever does enough statistically to matter in Fantasy. Leave them all on waivers for Week 14 at Green Bay.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis had one catch for 10 yards Week 12 at Cleveland. He had gone four games without a reception.
Analysis: Davis has only eight receptions on the season and clearly isn't much of a Fantasy contributor. Leave him on waivers for Week 13 against the Jaguars.
News: The Texans have listed the following players as inactive for Week 11 at Indianapolis: WR Andre Davis, LB Kevis Coley, LB Morlon Greenwood, TE Mark Bruener and DL Amobi Okoye.
Analysis: None of these players does enough statistically to have any Fantasy relevance when active. Leave them all on waivers.
News: The Texans listed WR Andre Davis, DB Will Demps, LB Chaun Thompson, TE Mark Bruener and DL Amobi Okoye among their inactives for Week 10 against the Ravens.
Analysis: None of these players does enough statistically to have any Fantasy relevance when active. Leave them all on waivers.
News: Houston WR Andre Davis did not practice on Thursday and is officially ruled out for Week 10 against Baltimore.
Analysis: Davis is primarily a special teams weapon for Houston when healthy and has little to no Fantasy value. Continue to ignore him in Week 10 against the Ravens.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis (finger), who had been ruled out for Week 9 at Minnesota, was listed among the inactives on Sunday. It was the second straight game he missed.
Analysis: Davis was expected to miss up to three weeks following surgery on his ring finger. He wasn't expected to play Week 9, so this news is not very shocking. Davis is primarily a special teams weapon for Houston when healthy and has little to no Fantasy value.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis (finger) has been ruled out for Week 9 at Minnesota. It will be the second straight game he misses.
Analysis: Davis was expected to miss up to three weeks following surgery on his ring finger. He wasn't expected to play Week 9, so this news is not very shocking. Davis is primarily a special teams weapon for Houston when healthy and has little to no Fantasy value.
News: The Texans have announced the inactives for their Week 8 game vs. Cincinnati. Not in uniform will be: WR Andre Davis (finger), DB Dominique Barber (hamstring), LB Xavier Adibi (coach's decision), TE Mark Bruener (coach's decision), DE N.D. Kalu (coach's decision) and DT Frank Okam (coach's decision).
Analysis: None of these players have any Fantasy value, so continue to ignore them in all formats.
News: Texans ide receiver and kick returner Andre Davis will miss up to three weeks after surgery to repair a dislocated ring finger on his left hand. Coach Gary Kubiak said doctors inserted a pin in Davis' finger on Monday, and he'll have to keep it there for two to three weeks. "He can't play with the pin in, because it's actually sticking out of the skin," Kubiak said Wednesday. "When it comes out and we go back to the tape job we had before, he should be ready to go."
Analysis: Davis, in his seventh season and second with Houston, has been playing through the injury since the preseason. He's caught seven passes for 123 yards and returned 26 kickoffs for a 22.2-yard average this season. Davis has little to no Fantasy value when healthy, so keep him reserved in Fantasy until further notice.
News: Texans Andre Davis was scheduled to have surgery on his left ring finger Monday afternoon, but coach Gary Kubiak said he could still play Week 8 against the Bengals.
Analysis: Davis caught only one pass in Week 7 and doesn't usually catch many more. Even if he plays, you wouldn't want to start him in Fantasy.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis made one catch for 15 yards in a Week 7 win over the Lions.
Analysis: Davis is a low-end Fantasy WR and should not be used in Week 8 vs. Cincinnati.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis had two catches for 28 yards Sunday against Miami. Davis also had five kickoff returns for 142 yards.
Analysis: Davis is a low-end Fantasy WR and should not be used in Week 7 against Detroit.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis had one catch for 6 yards Sunday against the Colts. He also had four kickoff returns for 107.2 yards.
Analysis: Davis is more of a special teams option for the Texans and has minimal Fantasy value. Keep him reserved in all leagues in Week 6 against Miami.
News: According to the NFL Today, Texans QB Matt Schaub was sick enough to be hospitalized Saturday night and will not play in Week 5 against the Colts. Sage Rosenfels will start in his place.
Analysis: Talk about a massive blow for Schaub's owners, who surely had their hopes up after he broke out with a 300-yard, three-touchdown passing day in Week 4. Rosenfels is a capable backup, however, so the Fantasy value of Andre Johnson and the other Texans receivers shouldn't take too much of a hit. Obviously bench Schaub, and hopefully you have a decent QB on the bench otherwise you're going to be left scrambling.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis caught one pass for 14 yards in Week 4 at Jacksonville. He was thrown at two times by quarterback Matt Schaub.
Analysis: Davis is used mainly as a kick returner and does not figure to be a regular part of the offense this season. Leave him on the waiver wire in all Fantasy leagues that do not reward return yardage until further notice. He has some big-play ability, but starting him is like trying to catch lightning in a bottle.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis caught two of the three passes thrown his way Week 3 against the Titans for a total of 60 yards. Davis' longest catch was a 49-yarder. He did not have any catches in the opener against the Steelers.
Analysis: Davis is a key special teams player for the Texans, but when everyone is healthy at wide out, he is at best a No. 3 WR behind Andre Johnson and Kevin Walter. Davis has little to no Fantasy value heading into Week 4 against the Jaguars.
News: The Baltimore Ravens-Houston Texans game was rescheduled to Nov. 9 after Reliant Stadium was severely damaged by Hurricane Ike, meaning both teams will not play in Week 2. The new date also affects the Cincinnati Bengals' schedule. Houston was originally scheduled to play the Bengals on Nov. 9. Now, those teams will play on Oct. 26 and Cincinnati will take its bye week on Nov. 9, when the Texans now play the Ravens.
Analysis: It's all a little confusing, but basically Fantasy owners need to treat Week 2 as a bye week for the Texans and Ravens. So if you have any players or either defensive unit active, get them reserved immediately. The Texans will next play at Tennessee in Week 3.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis, WR Jacoby Jones, RB Chris Taylor, TE Joel Dreessen, TE Mark Bruener and backup QB Sage Rosenfels were active and dressed but did not record a stat at Pittsburgh in Week 1.
Analysis: Davis and Taylor are decent reserve Fantasy benchwarmers in deeper leagues, but not in standard formats. Everyone else listed isn't expected to produce enough stats on a weekly basis to warrant Fantasy use. Keep those players off rosters.
News: The Houston Chronicle reports that the Texans and WR Andre Davis have agreed to a deal that will keep Davis out of free agency. Terms of the deal haven't been disclosed. Davis played well in 2007, notching 33 catches for 583 yards and three touchdowns. He also played well on special teams with a 30.3-yard average on 32 kickoff returns with three touchdowns.
Analysis: Davis was a good bye week and injury replacement for Fantasy owners in 2007, especially for those who lost Andre Johnson for an extended period of time. Staying in Houston means that Davis won't have the chance to evolve into anything more than a situational receiver who won't have the chance at big stats without Andre Johnson missing playing time. That said, he's not likely to be taken in many drafts in 2008.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis played well in 2007, which set himself up heading into free agency this offseason. Davis had 33 catches for 583 yards and three touchdowns. He also played well on special teams with a 30.3-yard average on 32 kickoff returns with three touchdowns. Davis is excited for the chance to hit the market. "I really haven't given it much thought," Davis said on the team's web site. "I think that's why you try and choose an agent who's very trustworthy and somebody that you trust to go out there and get the best deals for you. So I know I put my all out there on the field and I've done my part, so now it's the business side of it where he's going to be able to negotiate, and I can sit back and just hear what's really going on and make a decision from there."
Analysis: Davis was a good bye week and injury replacement for Fantasy owners in 2007. Depending on where he ends up in 2008, that will determine his Fantasy value. Don't plan on drafting Davis heading into next season, but he could be a valuable waiver-wire addition at some point.
News: Houston kick returner Andre' Davis became the seventh player in NFL history to return two kickoffs for touchdowns in the same game on Sunday against Jacksonville. Davis, in his sixth season, had a 97-yard return in the final minute of the second quarter after the Jaguars had tied the game at 14. He ran across the field to elude a pack of defenders, then raced down the sideline for the score. He took the opening kickoff of the second half in the end zone, hesitated a moment, then sprinted straight up the field for a 104-yard touchdown, the longest play in Texans history. Davis was the first player this season to return two kickoffs for scores in the same game. Chicago's Devin Hester did it for touchdowns against St. Louis on Dec. 11, 2006. He also added one catch for 20 yards.
Analysis: Davis is a low-end Fantasy WR and should not be drafted heading into 2008. He appears to have secured a spot on special teams, however, for next year.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis had one catch for 7 yards Sunday at the Colts.
Analysis: Davis is a low-end Fantasy WR since Andre Johnson returned from injury. Don't plan on using Davis in Week 17 against the Jaguars.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis caught one pass for 20 yards during a Week 15 win against the Broncos. It was the third straight game he was held to one catch. He has three catches for 34 yards with zero touchdowns during that span.
Analysis: Davis' decline in production has really coincided with the return of Andre Johnson. It was fun while it lasted for Fantasy owners, but Davis has become a pretty non-existent Fantasy option. The Texans keep him around for kick returning duties and as a fourth option in the passing offense. Use other options Week 16 as the Texans play the Colts.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis scored a touchdown in Houston's 28-14 win over the Buccaneers in Week 14, but it wasn't of the receiving variety. Instead, it was on a 97-yard kickoff return. He finished with one catch for five yards in the game.
Analysis: If your league rewards special teams touchdowns, then Davis was a great start for you in Week 14. Otherwise, he was pretty much useless. Either way, don't start him in Week 15 against the Broncos.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis made one catch for nine yards in Week 13 at Tennessee.
Analysis: Davis has seen his Fantasy appeal diminish ever since the return of starter Andre Johnson. For Week 14 vs. Tampa Bay, we would not consider him a viable Fantasy option.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis had three catches for 51 yards Sunday at Cleveland.
Analysis: Davis' value has dropped since the return of Andre Johnson. He should be used as a No. 3 Fantasy WR in deep leagues for Week 13 at Tennessee.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis had two catches for 30 yards vs. New Orleans in Week 11.
Analysis: Davis' production has slid thanks to Andre Johnson being back in the lineup. He may come up with a long catch here or there, but unless Johnson gets hurt again, Davis isn't a reliable Fantasy option. Do not plan on starting him at Cleveland in Week 12.
News: Sage Rosenfels connected with Andre Davis on a 42-yard touchdown pass midway through the fourth quarter that helped Houston snap a three-game skid. The Texans remained unbeaten in three meetings with Oakland by beating the Raiders 24-17 Week 9. On a third-and-2, Davis sped past cornerback Stanford Routt and caught the long TD pass that gave the Texans a 24-10 lead with 7:50 to go. Davis was greeted with a chest bump by injured teammate Andre Johnson, who ran onto the field in street clothes to congratulate his teammate. Davis finished with two catches for 52 yards.
Analysis: Davis has done well since sliding into the starting lineup Week 3 as Johnson has been sidelined with a sprained knee. Davis has 23 receptions for 442 yards and three touchdowns. Now comes the bad news. Johnson is expected to return after the bye (Week 10) and start Week 11 against the Saints. Davis will likely remain in the starting lineup as the No. 2 WR, but expect his production to dip a little. Still, consider him a No. 3 Fantasy WR Week 11 against the Saints, who own a poor pass defense.
News: Texans WR Owen Daniels (ankle), K Kris Brown (left foot), Andre Davis (chest), Ahman Green (knee), RB Adimchinobe Echemandu (thigh) and LB DeMeco Ryans (ankle) are all active for Week 9 against the Raiders. All of these players were listed as probable on the team's injury report.
Analysis: The Texans have three running backs --Green, Echemandu and Dayne -- active against the Raiders. All three might see carries, but expect Green to carry the load against the Raiders. Consider him a No. 2 Fantasy RB, while Echemandu is more of a No. 3 RB or 'flex' option and Dayne is a desperation 'flex' option. Daniels is a No. 1 Fantasy TE. Ryans is a must-start Fantasy LB. Brown is a viable Fantasy kicker and Davis should be considered a No. 3 or No. 4 Fantasy WR against a tough Raiders pass defense.
News: According to the Houston Chronicle, Texans WR Andre Davis bruised his ribs last week against San Diego, but is expected to play this week against Oakland. Davis (chest) went through limited practice reps Wednesday and Thursday, but returned to a full routined Friday. He is listed as probable.
Analysis: If Davis is healthy and plays, consider him no better than a No. 3 Fantasy WR against a very tough Raiders' pass defense. Continue to monitor his status prior to setting your lineup for Week 9.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis (chest) went through limited practice reps Wednesday and Thursday as the team prepares for Week 9 at Oakland. Davis had to leave Week 8 against the Chargers in the second half with a rib/chest injury. He has 21 catches for 390 yards and two touchdowns in six games.
Analysis: Davis has emerged as a viable Fantasy option in the absence of Andre Johnson (knee). His status is also now in jeopardy for Week 9, so Fantasy owners will have to track Davis' progress. If healthy, consider him no better than a No. 3 Fantasy WR against a very tough Raiders' pass defense.
News: A week after going for 88 yards and a touchdowns, Texans WR Andre Davis caught only one pass for six yards Week 8 at San Diego thanks to leaving with a rib injury in the second half. He also returned five kicks for 98 yards.
Analysis: Davis had gone for 384 yards in five games while helping fill in for the injured Andre Johnson, but Kevin Walter has replaced him as the go-to guy in recent weeks. We'll be sure to keep tabs on Davis and find out his status for Week 9 at Oakland.
News: Houston's Andre Davis, who didn't play until Andre Johnson got hurt, has 20 catches for 384 yards. He's emerged as the Texans' deep threat after catching passes of 40 yards or longer in four of his five games. Davis has been one of the biggest surprises of the season for the Texans after the sixth-year player had just two receptions for 13 yards last year in Buffalo.
Analysis: Consider Davis a solid option as long as Johnson remains out. Johnson will miss Week 8 against San Diego, so consider Davis a good option as a No. 2 Fantasy WR.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis continued to be used often in Houston's offense, totaling 88 yards on four catches with a nice 53-yard touchdown haul on a deep bomb from Sage Rosenfels late in the game.
Analysis: Circumstance has helped Davis out a lot -- the Texans have been playing from behind and without Andre Johnson, giving Davis and teammate Kevin Walter plenty of opportunity to catch passes. Look for those opportunities to continue when he and the Texans play at San Diego in Week 8 -- if Andre Johnson is still out. In that instance, Davis would be a No. 3 Fantasy WR.
News: After racking up 117 receiving yards in Week 4, Texans WR Andre Davis has seen his output slip to 79 and 30 yards over the past two weeks. If Andre Johnson can return to action in Week 7, Davis will likely see his snaps drop significantly.
Analysis: When you consider that Davis was inactive for the first two games this season, he's come a long way in a short period of time. After Johnson, the depth chart gets a bit fuzzy at WR, but Davis has probably done enough to ensure he won't be inactive again this year. Consider him nothing more than a low-end No. 3 Fantasy WR for Week 7.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis had three catches for 30 yards in Week 6 at Jacksonville. He would have scored a touchdown in the game, but had the ball stripped away about a foot from the goal line and he lost the fumble out of the back of the end zone.
Analysis: Davis wasted a chance to score his second touchdown of the season. Davis will slip back down the depth chart in Week 7 when Andre Johnson is expected to return, making him a less than desirable Fantasy receiver against the Titans.
News: WR Andre Davis will make his fourth straight start for the Houston Texans in Week 6 as Andre Johnson is still out with a knee injury. Davis has only caught 13 balls in his three starts, but is averaging 20.5 yards a reception.
Analysis: If Matt Schaub is on his game in Week 6, expect Davis to thrive against the Jaguars. Jacksonville has a great defense and the Texans might be forced to throw just to move the ball against their division rivals. Owen Daniels will definitely garner some attention from the Jags down the middle, which should leave Davis in some nice one-on-one situations on the outside. Consider him a high-end No. 3 Fantasy WR for Week 6.
News: Texans WRs Kevin Walter (five catches, 67 yards), Andre Davis (four catches, 79 yards), David Anderson (one catch, 19 yards) and FB Vonta Leach (one catch, four yards) all chipped in as Houston edged Miami 22-19 in Week 5.
Analysis: Davis and Walter are definitely worth some consideration if Andre Johnson can't go again in Week 6 when Houston play at Jacksonville, but Anderson and Leach have zero Fantasy value.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis has been a standout with Andre Johnson (knee) and Jacoby Jones (shoulder) out with injuries, and there's no reason to think he can't keep it up. Davis has nine catches for 187 yards and a touchdown in two starts against the Colts and Falcons, and Matt Schaub continues to look in his direction.
Analysis: The Texans will likely need more work from Davis as Johnson, Jones and Jerome Mathis continue to nurse various injuries. Davis should be added immediately and used as a No. 3 Fantasy WR in Week 5 against Miami.
News: With star WR Andre Johnson and his backup out with injuries, the Houston Texans desperately needed someone to prove he could be a reliable replacement. Andre' Davis showed he was that man on Sunday, with five receptions for 117 yards and a touchdown in his first 100-yard game since 2004. The performance was a bit of a surprise to some because Davis had just two catches for 13 yards last season in Buffalo. Davis was inactive for the first two games but had four catches for 70 yards against Indianapolis and started against the Falcons. A second-round pick in 2002, Davis had three straight 400-plus-yard receiving seasons with the Cleveland Browns, but played mostly special teams the last two seasons in Buffalo and New England. He shares an NFL record with nine other players for a 99-yard TD catch he made in 2004.
Analysis: The Texans will likely need more work from Davis as Johnson, Jacoby Jones and Jerome Mathis continue to nurse various injuries. Davis should be added immediately and used as a No. 3 Fantasy WR in Week 5 against Miami.
News: Texans WR Andre Davis continues to blossom in the absence of star WR Andre Johnson. In Week 4 at the Falcons, he caught five passes for 117 yards, including a 35-yard touchdown in the first quarter.
Analysis: Davis also led Houston with 70 yards receiving in Week 3. Head coach Gary Kubiak loves this guy, and his role might continue to expand to the point that he remains a Fantasy factor even after Johnson returns. Target Davis on the waiver wire and consider him a No. 3 Fantasy WR in Week 5 against the Dolphins.
News: Houston WR Andre Davis is expected to start in Week 4 against Atlanta with Andre Johnson (knee) and Jacoby Jones (shoulder) out. Last week, Davis led Houston receivers with 70 yards in a 30-24 loss against the Colts. He caught four passes.
Analysis: Consider Davis a low-end No. 3 WR option against the Falcons. Atlanta is No. 8 in pass defense, and Davis isn't good enough to start on your Fantasy team.
News: With No. 1 WR Andre Johnson out, Texans WR Andre Davis led Houston receivers with 70 yards in Week 3's 30-24 loss against the Colts. He caught four passes.
Analysis: Davis hasn't been a Fantasy factor in ages, but he deserves a look as a bye-week fill-in if Johnson doesn't return in Week 4. The Texans have a great matchup against the Falcons in Atlanta.
News: Texans coach Gary Kubiak said he isn't sure who will start at WR in place of the injured Andre Johnson for Houston's Week 3 game vs. the Colts. He said Kevin Walter, Jacoby Jones, Jerome Mathis and Andre' Davis will play a near-equal amount. "I haven't made that decision yet," Kubiak said. "We're just going to keep working all four of them. They're all going to play. They're probably going to rotate every two plays together, keep them fresh."
Analysis: Kubiak isn't helping Fantasy owners much with this announcement. Depending on how long Johnson is out, you might want to wait to see who gets the most targets on Sunday before hitting the wires for any of these guys.
News: The following players are inactive for Week 2 against Carolina: WR Andre Davis, DB Dexter Wynn, RB Samkon Gado, LB Zachary Diles, TE Joel Dreessen and DL Travis Johnson.
Analysis: None of these players should be active in Week 2. Keep them reserved in all Fantasy leagues.
News: The Texans listed WR Andre Davis, DB Dexter Wynn, RB Samkon Gado, LB Zachary Diles and TE Joel Dreessen as inactive for Week 1 vs. Kansas City.
Analysis: The only player that should even be on your roster is Samkon Gado, and even that is in the deepest of formats. Reserve all of these players until further notice.
News: After three solid seasons with the Browns, it looked like Andre Davis would develop into a consistent NFL receiver. Two teams and two seasons of mostly special teams play later, Davis is trying to show the Texans he can be the offensive threat he once was. Davis had three straight 400-plus yard receiving seasons with the Cleveland Browns. He holds the NFL record, along with nine other players, for longest touchdown reception with a 99-yard catch he made in 2004. But then he was traded to New England, and then went to Buffalo, and couldn't crack the starting lineup. "He's really got to get where he can go all day and I've told him that," head coach Gary Kubiak said. "I think his conditioning level, I don't know if it's being here in the heat of Houston or whatever, when his condition level gets right, he's going to make a big push for this football team. It's gotten better, but he struggled the first few weeks out here."
Analysis: The Texans have yet to find a receiver to take pressure off Pro Bowler Andre Johnson as he enters his fifth season. Kevin Walter is the front-runner to take over as the second receiver this year, but Davis could also figure into the mix. Davis would only gain Fantasy value if the Texans named him their No. 2 wideout, which seems like a longshot.
News: The Houston Texans hope Kevin Walter will become the receiver they've long looked for to take pressure off Andre Johnson. Walter, who spent his first three seasons in Cincinnati, hasn't made much of an impact in four NFL seasons. But coach Gary Kubiak believes this could be his breakout year. "I think what you're looking at right there is a player that earned the right to play," Kubiak said. "I went back and watched our film and it felt like if I gave Kevin Walter more chances to make plays, we win a few more games. That's what he is." Walter appeared in each game last season with two starts and finished with 17 receptions for 160 yards.
Analysis: While Walter is the front-runner, there are other candidates for the spot, including free-agent acquisition Andre Davis and rookie Jacoby Jones. Davis had three solid years with Cleveland but didn't see much playing time since in a season in both New England and Buffalo. The Texans drafted Jones in the third round out of Division II Lane College and believe the former track star has potential, but he'll have to overcome his small college background. None of these players are worth drafting in Fantasy leagues.
News: The Houston Texans signed free agent receiver Andre Davis on Thursday. The Texans are the fourth team Davis has been with in as many years. He spent last year with Buffalo, 2005 in New England and 2004 with the Browns. Davis appeared in 16 games last season for the Bills, but had just two receptions for 13 yards. He spent his first three seasons with the Browns and had his best season in 2003 when he had 576 yards receiving with five touchdowns. A former track standout at Virginia Tech, the speedy Davis also returns kicks. He had six returns for 99 yards last season. As a rookie in 2002, he had 50 returns for 1,068 yards and a touchdown.
