News: Eagles TE Matt Schobel was released by the Eagles on Saturday. Tony Curtis will likely be the backup TE in Philadelphia now. Analysis: While Schobel obviously came out on the wrong end of this battle, neither player is likely to have any Fantasy value during the 2009 season.

News: Philadelphia had two players see action in Week 16's game against the Redskins, a 10-3 loss, but go without stats. Those players are RB Kyle Eckel and TE Matt Schobel. Backup QB Kevin Kolb did not play but was active behind Donovan McNabb. Analysis: Eckel and the others above have no Fantasy value and should be left on waivers in Week 17 against Dallas.

News: Eagles TE Matt Schobel was active for just the fourth time this season during a Week 9 win against Seattle. Schobel, who was in the lineup to replace the injured L.J. Smith (concussion), caught just two passes for 10 yards. Both receptions went five yards. Analysis: Schobel finally got onto the stat sheet Week 9 and could remain active another week if Smith isn't ready to play. However, Schobel is still behind Brent Celek on the depth chart and has no Fantasy value heading into Week 10 against the Giants.

Analysis: The Eagles will play a third straight game without Curtis. He is expected to be out until October because of hernia injury. Curtis is a viable Fantasy WR when healthy. The remaining inactive players have little to no Fantasy value. Keep them reserved Week 3.

Reid said Monday he was more optimistic about Schobel's chances than he was after the game. Analysis: Schobel didn't post any stats against the Cowboys and wouldn't be considered a reliable Fantasy option anyway. L.J. Smith is the primary tight end in Philadelphia, when he's healthy. Backup rookie TE Brent Celek would only be worth a look in the deepest of Fantasy leagues.
