News: The 49ers announced Friday afternoon that they have waived kicker Billy Cundiff, just 17 days after signing the 32-year-old after Week 17. Cundiff was brought in to compete against struggling David Akers, but failed to earn the starting nod.
Analysis: Head coach Jim Harbaugh had announced before the team's first playoff game that Akers would remain the starting kicker, which left no reason for San Francisco to keep him on the roster. Cundiff should be ignored in all formats moving forward.
News: 49ers have announced that newly signed kicker Billy Cundiff has been ruled inactive for Saturday's NFC Divisional Playoff game at home against the Packers. Head coach Jim Harbaugh named kicker David Akers the starter earlier in the week.
Analysis: Cundiff lost a kicking competition with Akers during the week in practice, but there was still speculation that Harbaugh would keep both kickers active just in case. That speculation is now out the window since Cundiff is inactive. Continue to ignore the 32-year-old in all Playoff Challenge formats.
News: CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora reports that 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh could keep both David Akers and newly signed Billy Cundiff active in Saturday's Divisional Playoff game at home against the Packers. Harbaugh did name Akers the starter earlier in the week but could roll with Cundiff if Akers begins to struggle.
Analysis: Akers has struggled as of late, so there is a possibility of using both kickers come Saturday night, so we'll continue to keep an eye on his status moving forward. Though Akers was named the starter, Harbaugh has yet to release Cundiff, which could suggest that he may be available if needed in the playoff game. Because the kicking competition is so muddled, Fantasy owners should stay away from both choices in playoff format games. Remember, Cundiff missed what would have been a game-winning try against the Patriots last postseason while with the Ravens, so who knows just how effective he'd be.
News: Niners head coach Jim Harbaugh said "there's a leader in the clubhouse" in the kicking competition this week but wouldn't say who had it between David Akers and newly signed Billy Cundiff. Harbaugh also said there's a "good chance" both kickers will be active for their game Saturday against the Packers, per the Sacramento Bee.
Analysis: Because the kicking competition is so muddled, Fantasy owners should stay away from both choices in playoff format games. Remember, Cundiff missed what would have been a game-winning try against the Patriots last postseason while with the Ravens, so who knows just how effective he'd be.
News: With starting kicker David Akers struggling with accuracy all season, the 49ers signed veteran kicker Billy Cundiff on Tuesday following a tryout at the team's practice facility, the San Jose Mercury News reports. Cundiff, who was released by the Redskins in early October, will compete with Akers in practice over the next week to determine who will serve as the team's kicker during the playoffs, coach Jim Harbaugh said.
Analysis: Cundiff, who joined his sixth NFL team in San Francisco, struggled himself before being dropped by Washington. The 32-year-old converted just 7 of his 12 field-goal attempts, though two of them were from outside of 50 yards. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on the position battle, but both players will have low-end value heading into the 49ers' first playoff game at home on Jan. 12.
News: The Redskins announced Tuesday kicker Billy Cundiff was released and kicker Kai Forbath was signed to take his place on the roster.
Analysis: Cundiff seems to have his confidence shaken ever since he missed that key kick in the playoffs against the Patriots last season. He lost out to rookie kicker Justin Tucker in Ravens' camp this preseason, but quickly found work with Washington. However, he has made just 2 of 6 field goals the last two games, so Washington needs a reliable kicker. Drop Cundiff in all Fantasy formats.
News: CSN Washington reports the Redskins will bring in kickers Tuesday for workouts after kicker Billy Cundiff had another poor performance Week 5 vs. Atlanta, according to a team source. CBSSports.com NFL Insider Jason La Canfora reports Olindo Mare, Josh Brown and Kai Forbath will be taking part in the kicking competition. Redskins coach Mike Shanahan did confirm in his Monday press conference the team will audition "several" kickers Tuesday, but Cundiff is the kicker for now.
Even if Cundiff keeps his job, he would remain a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Washington kicker Billy Cundiff had a dismal performance on Sunday of Week 5 against the Falcons. Cundiff missed a 31-yard field goal in the second quarter and finished 1 for 2 on the game. He hit a 23-yard field goal and added two extra points to finish with five points on the loss.
Analysis: Cundiff missed yet another field goal attempt on Sunday against the Falcons and there was no game winner this time around to save his afternoon. Cundiff has been a supreme disappointment for the Redskins and may not get another chance Week 6 against the Vikings. He is not a recommended Fantasy option regardless.
News: Washington kicker Billy Cundiff nailed a 41-yard field goal to win the Week 4 game at Tampa Bay, 24-22. That said, Cundiff still only went 1 for 4 on field goals in the game. He hit three extra points and finished with six points scored for the Redskins.
Analysis: Cundiff connected on the game-winning field goal with seconds remaining after missing his first three attempts in the Week 4 game in Tampa Bay. Even with the game-winner, that is not going to cut it going forward. One of the field goals was out of Cundiff's range, but the other two missed should have been connected. We're not sure how many more chances Cundiff will get this season as he's missed four times in four games. Heading into Week 5 at home against the Falcons, Cundiff is not a recommended Fantasy start.
News: Washington kicker Billy Cundiff recorded seven points on Sunday in a Week 3 loss to the Bengals. Cundiff nailed a 36-yard field goal for his only attempt and added four extra points in the game.
Analysis: Cundiff is averaging nine Fantasy points per game after three contests as he's gone 5 for 6 on field goals with 16 PATs. He's not a must-start Fantasy option, but he is a viable play heading into Week 4 at Tampa Bay.
News: Washington kicker Billy Cundiff missed a 62-yard field goal in the closing minutes of Sunday's Week 2 loss at St. Louis. Had he connected, the Redskins would have tied the score. Cundiff finished 0 for 1 on field goals and managed just four extra points to finish with four points total in the game.
Analysis: Cundiff does not have the range to nail a 62-yard field goal at this point in his career but the Redskins gave it a shot anyway. He's 4 for 5 on field goals for the year after a big performance Week 1 in New Orleans. Cundiff should bounce back Week 3 against the Bengals and can be considered a decent option in deeper formats.
News: Washington kicker Billy Cundiff had an excellent debut for his new team Sunday at New Orleans. Cundiff took ownership of the kicking job for the Redskins as he went 4 for 4 on field goals with a long of 45 yards in the 40-32 win. Cundiff added four extra points in the game to finish with 16 points in the Week 1 performance.
Analysis: Cundiff got off to a hot start this season against the Saints as he nailed four field goals for the Redskins. Released by the Ravens, Washington clearly felt he was a better option than anything they had lying around. Heading into Week 2 at St. Louis, it looks like Cundiff would be a viable option in a pinch.
News: In a surprisingly quick turnaround, the Redskins released kicker Graham Gano on Tuesday and signed kicker Billy Cundiff, according to The Associated Press. Gano appeared to win the Washington kicking job after the team released Neil Rackers on Monday. But instead he will be replaced by Cundiff, who spent two days unemployed after getting cut by the Ravens on Sunday.
Analysis: Cundiff has a career field-goal percentage of 76.7 with four different NFL teams. He joined the Ravens during the 2009 season and earned a Pro Bowl nomination in 2010 after converting 26 of his 29 attempts. But he has limited range and is 5 for 19 over his career from 50-plus yards. Fantasy owners should consider Cundiff a low-end option with the Redskins, who could be hurt by an inconsistent offense this season.
News: ESPN reports the Ravens released kicker Billy Cundiff on Sunday, per league source. Cundiff's release means rookie kicker Justin Tucker is the Ravens' new placekicker.
Analysis: Tucker showed great distance and accuracy on his kicks this preseason and is obviously a much cheaper option than Cundiff, which likely played into the decision to part ways with the veteran kicker. Cundiff missed nine field goals in 2011 and was just 1 of 6 from 50-plus yards. The Ravens probably felt he didn't show much improvement this preseason. Cundiff might land with another NFL team, but leave him off rosters until further notice.
News: Baltimore K Billy Cundiff recorded eight points in Sunday's AFC Championship game loss to the Patriots, but it's the three he didn't record that cost his team the most. Cundiff went 2 for 3 on field goals in the game and added two extra points. His 39-yard field goal late in the third quarter gave Baltimore a 20-16 lead at the time. Unfortunately, Cundiff missed a 32-yard FG attempt with seconds left to play, giving the Patriots a 23-20 victory.
Analysis: Cundiff might find himself without a job following this miss. He didn't finish 2011 as a Top 12 kicker and has had difficulties connecting from 50-plus yards throughout his career (5 of 19). Don't draft him knowing that he could be without a team in the future. If he somehow sticks with the Ravens, you could always double-back for him off waivers if you want.
News: The Carroll County Times reports Thursday that the Ravens felt confident enough in kicker Billy Cundiff that they cut kicker Shayne Graham on Tuesday. Cundiff is regarded as healthy now after missing a game with a left calf injury. He connected on a 42-yard field goal on his lone attempt against the Bengals. It was big to see him be able to do that, coach John Harbaugh said. The way he pounded the ball through, we all felt good about that. So, he looks like hes 100 percent. Cundiff said hes feeling much better. It sucked not knowing if it would hold up, thats not the best feeling, he said. Not being able to be aggressive, not being able to know if its going to hold up, not having the power really to pull when I plant, that affects being aggressive. For me to be able to actually get through a game and be able to do the things that Im supposed to do, Ive got to have the strength first and foremost."
Analysis: Cundiff showed he could be a No. 1 Fantasy kicker when healthy, and he should be fine for any Fantasy Playoff Challenge. He should be viewed as a Top 12 option heading into 2012.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff overcame a calf injury to score six points in the Week 17 regular-season finale at Cincinnati on Sunday. Cundiff nailed a 42-yard field goal for the only field goal he would attempt in the game. He added three extra points to come up with his final scoring production. Baltimore won the game and grabbed a first-round bye in the playoffs as AFC North champions.
Analysis: Cundiff entered the Week 17 regular-season finale with a troublesome calf injury, but played through it as he's expected to do going forward into the playoffs. That said, Cundiff finished the season having gone just 3 for 6 on field goals in his last four games. Cundiff has not scored in double figures in Fantasy points since Week 12 and has only accomplished that feat once since Week 9. Heading into the playoffs, Cundiff is not expected to be a worthwhile Fantasy option. He's just a low-end Fantasy K heading into next year.
News: Baltimore K Billy Cundiff is active and in charge of kicking duties for the Week 17 regular-season finale at Cincinnati. Cundiff was a question mark coming into the game with a troublesome calf issue. Cundiff was limited in practice throughout the past week after missing last week's game against Cleveland..
Analysis: Cundiff has gone just 2 for 5 on field-goal attempts in his past three games played, and hasn't scored in double figures since Week 12. Cundiff is just a low-end Fantasy K for Week 17.
News: Baltimore K Billy Cundiff is listed as questionable on the team's injury report for Week 17 at Cincinnati with a troublesome calf issue. Cundiff was limited in practice throughout the past week after missing last week's game against Cleveland.
Analysis: Cundiff has gone just 2 for 5 on field-goal attempts in his past three games played, and hasn't scored in double figures since Week 12. Cundiff would be just a low-end Fantasy K for Week 17, if he's healthy enough to play. Consider healthier alternatives for Sunday.
News: Baltimore K Billy Cundiff was limited in practice on Wednesday in preparation for Week 17 at Cincinnati. Cundiff is dealing with a left calf injury and he missed the Week 16 game against Cleveland.
Analysis: Cundiff has gone just 2 for 5 on field goals in his last three games played, and hasn't scored in double figures since Week 12. Cundiff would be just a low-end Fantasy K for Week 17, if he's healthy enough to play. There are healthier alternatives available.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff (left calf) is inactive Week 16 against the Browns. He came into the game as doubtful, but Shayne Graham was expected to handle placekicking duties against the Browns.
Analysis: The Ravens goal right now is to make sure Cundiff is ready for the playoffs. There is a chance he sits again Week 17, so if you need the roster spot in Fantasy, then cut Cundiff.
News: Baltimore K Billy Cundiff is listed as doubtful for Week 16 against Cleveland with a calf injury. Earlier this week, Ravens coach John Harbaugh said K Shayne Graham would handle the kicking duties versus the Browns on Saturday.
Analysis: With Graham on the roster, Cundiff will earn an opportunity to rest his ailing calf prior to the start of the postseason. He has said he is not 100 percent after missing three total field goals in the past three weeks. Fantasy owners should seek healthier option for Week 16.
News: Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Thursday that Shayne Graham will kick Week 16 against the Browns as Billy Cundiff will get a chance to rest his nagging calf injury.
Analysis: Cundiff missed a 36-yard field goal Week 15 against the Chargers and admitted after the game he isn't 100 percent. Now, the Ravens will give him a chance to get there. Cut Cundiff in seasonal Fantasy formats and use a healthier alternative Week 16.
News: The Ravens signed K Shayne Graham on Wednesday to potentially fill in for K Billy Cundiff, who's nursing a left calf injury. Graham participated in Baltimore's training camp in 2010 but lost the battle to Cundiff. To make room, the Ravens placed LB Chavis Williams (foot) on injured reserve.
Analysis: Cundiff missed a 36-yard field goal Week 15 against the Chargers and admitted after the game he isn't 100 percent. It seems the Ravens need a little insurance in case Cundiff doesn't improve during the week. Cundiff is a viable Fantasy option when healthy, but perhaps Fantasy owners need to look at healthier alternatives for Week 16.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff did not see many opportunities in Week 15 against the Chargers. He missed his lone field goal attempt and converted two extra points in the 34-14 loss. He missed a 36-yarder in the first quarter.
Analysis: Cundiff, who has been dealing with a calf issue, has missed three field goals over his last three games and his injury could be to blame for it. Keep an eye on his status going forward as he will likely be limited in practice again leading up to Week 16 against the Browns. If he is active next Saturday, consider Cundiff as a viable option in the majority of Fantasy leagues.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff has been ruled active for Week 15 against the Chargers. He was unable to practice leading up to Sunday due to a calf injury.
Analysis: Cundiff was pretty much limited to placekicking duties in Week 14, which might be the case again in Week 15. Still, he has been productive in Fantasy thus far so keep him active in the majority of leagues.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff (left calf) didn't practice Friday and was listed as questionable for Week 15 at San Diego. Coach John Harbaugh is taking a "we'll see" approach with his kicker.
Analysis: Cundiff was pretty much limited to placekicking duties in Week 14, which might be the case again in Week 15. Unless the Ravens sign another kicker, then we are confident Cundiff will play. If Cundiff is active, then he is a viable Fantasy play.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff (left calf) did not practice for a second straight day Thursday as the team prepares for Week 15 against the Chargers.
Analysis: Cundiff hurt his calf late last week, but he still was active Week 14. He just was limited to placekicking duties after his calf acted up in the game. Cundiff could be in the same situation Week 15, but that would still make him a viable Fantasy play because we aren't concerned with his kickoff ability.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff, who came into Week 14 questionable with a calf injury, was able to handle placekicking duties against the Colts. He made all four of his kicks, including three extra points. Cundiff made his lone field goal -- a 36-yarder in the first quarter.
Analysis: Cundiff's injured left calf was cramping by halftime, so Sam Koch handled the kickoffs the rest of the way. "It was important for him to be able to kick, but he started feeling it on the kickoffs as we progressed in the first half," coach John Harbaugh said. As long as Cundiff can handle the placekicking duties moving forward, then that is all that matters for Fantasy purposes. Cundiff will remain a viable Fantasy option for Week 15 against the Chargers, if he plays.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff, who was questionable with a calf injury, was cleared to play Week 14 vs. Indianapolis.
Analysis: The Ravens had a backup plan in place in case Cundiff couldn't kick Week 14, but luckily they didn't have to carry through with it. Now that Cundiff is active, he is considered a viable Fantasy option.
News: Ravens coach John Harbaugh said the team has a "backup plan" in place in case K Billy Cundiff is unable to play Week 14 against the Colts. Cundiff missed a second straight practice Friday with a calf cramp. Harbaugh said the injury isn't serious and he hopes Cundiff will play Sunday, but the team is prepared if he can't. Cundiff is officially questionable.
Analysis: Fantasy owners need to be on the lookout for Baltimore transactions this weekend. If they sign a kicker, then Cundiff likely won't play Week 14. If they don't, then the team has confidence he will be able to kick without any issues Sunday. Still, Fantasy owners might want to go with a healthier alternative since Cundiff's situation is in flux.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff was a new addition to the injury report Thursday. He did not practice because of a left calf injury. Baltimore hosts Indianapolis in Week 14.
Analysis: As of now, the Ravens haven't signed a kicker and this could be just a rest day for Cundiff. But if Baltimore brings in another kicker before Sunday's game, then there will be some concern. As of now, continue to view Cundiff as a viable Fantasy option for Week 14.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff missed two of the three field goals he attempted in Week 13, but the Ravens didn't need the points as they won 24-10 over Cleveland. In the rainy and windy conditions in Cleveland, Cundiff struggled with his footing, bouncing one of his three extra-point attempts off the inside of the upright as well.
Analysis: For the second time in four weeks, Cundiff missed two of three field goals. In Week 11, the Ravens lost by five points, so they could have used the two field goals, but they didn't need them in Week 13 as they won convincingly. Cundiff gets a good amount of opportunities, and has successfully converted 76.4 percent of his attempts. He remains a solid Fantasy K option for Week 14, as the Ravens should have plenty of scoring opportunities against the Colts.
News: Baltimore K Billy Cundiff connected on three field goals and his lone extra-point attempt in the Ravens' 16-6 victory over San Francisco in Week 12 on Thursday. Cundiff connected on kicks of 39 (twice) and 23 yards to give him three field goals in a game for the fifth time this year.
Analysis: Cundiff has shaken off his poor performance in Week 10 at Seattle and converted his past four field-goal attempts. He has posted double-digits in Fantasy points six times this season, including Thursday, and remains a solid option in all formats for Week 13 at Cleveland.
News: Baltimore K Billy Cundiff nailed the only field goal he attempted in the Week 11 win over the Bengals. Cundiff connected from 22 yards in the win as he added four extra points for a total of seven points in the game.
Analysis: Cundiff has been an excellent Fantasy start all season for the Ravens and Fantasy owners. Cundiff is definitely going to have a tough matchup Week 12 against San Francisco, however. The 49ers' defense continues to be very solid and that could hurt the Ravens ability to score Week 12. Fantasy owners who have been starting Cundiff religiously this season should continue in Week 12. That said, we don't label him a must-start option by any means.
News: Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff missed from 50 and 52 yards in the first half of Baltimore's game in Seattle in Week 10. He would finally connect on a 35-yarder in the second half. He would nail both his extra-point attempts, but the Ravens wouldn't do enough to get the win. Baltimore lost to Seattle, 22-17.
Analysis: Cundiff is pretty accurate, so the wind in Seattle could have altered those two long kicks on Sunday. He's converted 21 of 27 field goals on the year for the Ravens, which keeps him a relevant kicking option in most Fantasy leagues heading into Week 11 against the Bengals.
News: Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff had missed seven straight field goal attempts from beyond 50 yards leading up to to his 51-yarder to end the first half of Sunday's game against the Steelers. He booted field goals of 18, 43 and 51, and connected on both his extra-point attempts. Cundiff did miss one field goal on the day, but the Ravens would still win the game 23-20.
Analysis: Cundiff has converted three field goals in two straight games and has multiple field goals in seven games this year. He's converted 20 of 24 on the year for the Ravens and has moved into the realm of solid Fantasy kicker. The Ravens face the Seahawks in Week 10.
News: Baltimore K Billy Cundiff converted three field goals, including a 25-yarder as time expired, to help the Ravens secure a 30-27 victory over Arizona in Week 8. Cundiff also connected on kicks of 26 and 47 yards as he finished with multiple field goals for the sixth time this season.
Analysis: Cundiff -- and the rest of the Baltimore offense -- quickly rebounded from a poor performance against Jacksonville in Week 7. He is now 17 of 20 on his field-goal attempts this year and remains a solid option in all Fantasy formats for Week 9 at Pittsburgh.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff had his slowest performance of the season in Week 7 against the Jaguars. He converted just one extra point in the 12-7 loss. Cundiff attempted a 52-yard field goal in the third quarter but missed in wide right.
Analysis: Cundiff was only able to manage one point on Monday night and missed his third field goal of the season. He is now 0 for 3 from beyond 50 yards, but has gone a perfect 14 for 14 in shorter ones. The Ravens should be able to score more in Week 8 against the Cardinals so continue to view Cundiff as a viable option in the majority of Fantasy leagues.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff had a busy game in Week 6 against the Texans. He converted all five of his field goal attempts and added to extra points in the 29-14 win. He made his field goals from distances of 43, 48, 25, 33 and 40.
Analysis: Cundiff extended his kicking streak to seven consecutive field goals since missing two against St. Louis in Week 3. He should continue to be a production option in Fantasy and should benefit from Baltimore playing Jacksonville in Week 7. Plan on keeping Cundiff active against the Jaguars.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff had a productive game in Week 4 against the Jets. He made both of his field-goal attempts and added four extra points in the 34-17 win. Cundiff connected from 38 yards in the first quarter before adding another 38-yarder in the second.
Analysis: Cundiff recorded 10-plus points for the second consecutive game on Sunday and is shaping up to be a viable option in Fantasy. With the Ravens on a bye next week, keep him stashed away until Week 6 against the Texans.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff left Week 3 against the Rams with an apparent knee injury. Cundiff appeared to sustain the injury on a PAT attempt following the Ravens final touchdown of the contest. He finished 3 for 5 in field-goal attempts and made four extra points prior to leaving the contest. After the game Cundiff said he suffered a bruise on his leg.
Analysis: Cundiff sustained a bruise on his leg and will be re-evaluated on Monday. Fantasy owners should continue and monitor his status moving forward to see if he will be able to play next week. Cundiff has averaged nearly 10 Fantasy points per week thus far this season and can be considered a more than viable kicker in all formats, when healthy. The Ravens play the Jets in Week 4.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff connected on two field goals in a 26-13 loss to the Titans in Week 2. Cundiff hit from 29 and 41 yards, and also made his lone PAT.
Analysis: Even though Baltimore lost, Cundiff kicked two field goals for the second straight week and has 16 points through two games. The Ravens can move the football on a consistent basis, so that makes Cundiff is a viable Fantasy kicker heading into Week 3 against the Rams.
News: Baltimore K Billy Cundiff had a nice Week 1 performance in a win over the Steelers. The Ravens beat the Steelers 35-7 in the game on Sunday and Cundiff finished with nine points. Cundiff went 2 for 2 on field goals and 3 for 3 on PATs. Cundiff connected on field goals of 29 and 30 yards, respectively.
Analysis: The Baltimore offense certainly looked very good against a very good defense in the Steelers Week 1. Things should only get easier for the offense Week 2 at Tennessee. Cundiff could be in line for plenty of points upcoming in the second game of the 2011 season. Fantasy owners can consider him a solid No. 2 Fantasy K for Week 2 of the season.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff continues his spectacular preseason with a 54-yard field goal. This is the second field goal Cundiff's made over 50 yards this preseason. He hit a 53-yarder last week against Philadelphia.
Analysis: Cundiff hit on a career-high 26 field goals in 2010, missing only three times. Unfortunately, his long was from 49 yards, so perhaps if the continues to impress with his long-distance kicks, then the Ravens might lean on him a bit more in 2011. The Ravens should have a productive offense, but Cundiff is still more of a No. 2 Fantasy kicker on Draft Day.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff has already hit from 58 and 59 yards out during training camp and said his offseason regimen is the reason he is getting good distance on his kicks. I definitely feel like my leg is stronger than its ever been, Cundiff told reporters. Its a different situation. Im feeling more comfortable here. For the first time in my career, Ive had the same snapper and holder. Just in everything, theres more continuity from last season. So in the offseason, I really made it a point to really work on my strength in the weight room, and I was doing stuff on the field that was non-kicking related to really try to make myself as explosive as I possibly could be.
News: According to ESPN.com, Baltimore has come to terms with kicker Billy Cundiff on a five-year deal with $15 million. The deal is expected to be signed sometime during the week.
Analysis: Cundiff made it to the Pro Bowl this year and will be rewarded for his good season with the Ravens. He converted on 26 of 29 attempts in the regular season. Baltimore doesn't have a high-scoring offense, so Cundiff gets plenty of chances to get them on the board. In terms of Fantasy value, Cundiff should be viewed as a middle of the road kicker. Consider him a low-end Fantasy kicker on Draft Day in 2011.
News: Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff was good on the only field goal he attempted in Saturday's Divisional Playoff loss to the Steelers. The kick went in from 24 yards out to tie the game in the fourth quarter. Cundiff converted on all three extra points he attempted.
Analysis: Despite the loss, Cundiff will kick in one more game this season, the Pro Bowl. He was selected because he's converted on 26 of 29 attempts in the regular season. The Ravens do not have one of the more prolific offenses in the NFL and Cundiff fits into the middle of the pack in terms of Fantasy kickers as a result. He does have a strong leg, however, as he tied the NFL record for touchbacks in a season with 40. He's a low-end Fantasy option heading into 2011.
News: Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff converted two field goals in Week 17against Cincinnati. He added an extra point to finish the game with seven points.
Analysis: Cundiff converted 26 of 29 field goals and finished with 117 in the season. The Ravens do not have one of the more prolific offenses in the NFL and Cundiff fits into the middle of the pack in terms of Fantasy kickers as a result. He does have a strong leg, however, as he tied the NFL record for touchbacks in a season with 40.
News: Baltimore K Billy Cundiff nailed both field goals he attempted in the Week 16 20-10 win over the Browns in Cleveland. Cundiff went 2 for 2 and hit from a long of 40 yards in the game. His other made field goal was from 27 yards. He went 2 for 2 on PATs and finished the game with eight points scored.
Analysis: The Ravens' kicker continues to be solid for Baltimore. He has his fair share of double-digit scoring performances this season and is generally good when given the opportunity to kick a field goal. Heading into the final game of the regular season in Week 17 against the Bengals, if you have been using Cundiff in Fantasy play, continue to do so in most leagues.
News: Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff had a solid game in Week 15 against New Orleans. Cundiff was 3 of 3 on field goals with a long of 33, and he made three extra points for a total of 12 points. His other field goals were from 32 yards and 27 yards.
Analysis: Cundiff is a solid kicker in all leagues and is worth using as a No. 1 option in Week 16 at Cleveland. In Week 3 against the Browns, Cundiff was 1 for 2 on field goals and 3 for 3 on PATs for six points.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff did not attempt a field goal for the second time this season in Week 14 against the Texans. He did make all four of his extra-point attempts, however, and finished with four points in the 34-28 win. The only other time this season he did not attempt of field goal was back in Week 9 against the Falcons.
Analysis: Cundiff has now posted three straight single-digit scoring totals over his last three games and has only attempted two field goals over that stretch. While he has a big leg and is fairly accurate, Cundiff is simply not getting many chances to kick right now. Consider him a low-end Fantasy K heading into Week 15 against the Saints.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff managed to hit the only field goal he attempted in the Week 13 game against the Steelers. The make was from 24 yards out and he nailed the only extra point he attempted on the night.
Analysis: Cundiff has notched only a single field goal in each of the last two games, so the lack of scoring is a concern. The Ravens have not put him in position much against the active defenses the Bucs and Ravens sport. In Week 14, the team should be able to get back on track against the Texans, so keep Cundiff active in Fantasy play if you normally do.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff kicked a 45-yard field goal and a couple of extra points in a Week 12 win over the Buccaneers.
Analysis: Cundiff came into Week 12 with three games in his last four with 13 points or more, so he was due for a let-down on Sunday. In Week 13, Cundiff will face a tough Steelers defense that gave up just five points to him in this season's earlier contest between the two teams. Cundiff will still be worth using in deeper Fantasy formats, but there might be better options out there in your league.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff went 3 for 3 on field goal attempts and also converted four extra points in a 37-13 win over Carolina in Week 11. Cundiff's field goals were from 22, 33 and 49 yards out. He is now 17 for 20 on field goals for the season.
Analysis: The Ravens haven't had one of the more potent offenses in the NFL this year, and Cundiff got two of his extra point attempts by virtue of interception returns in Week 11. He is a viable Fantasy option, but he can also be considered replaceable because of the limitations of the Ravens' offense. Cundiff will be a good start for Week 12, though, as the Ravens could have a good day on offense against an underwhelming Tampa Bay defense.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff attempted no field goals during a 26-21 loss to the Falcons in Week 10. It was the first time all season Cundiff did not attempt a field goal. Cundiff did make all three of his extra points, however. Still, the three points were a season low.
Analysis: Cundiff had posted 27 points and seven field goals in his last two games coming into Week 10. He was one of the hottest kickers in the NFL, but the Falcons cooled off the Ravens offense and Cundiff had his worst game of the season. He has a good chance to rebound in Week 11 against the Panthers. Consider Cundiff a viable Fantasy option at the kicker position.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff kicked field goals of 26, 39, 20 and 24 yards and missed from 37 yards in a Week 9 win over Miami. Cundiff also made two extra points.
Analysis: Cundiff now has 27 points in his last two games and will likely be a hot waiver wire pickup in most formats heading into Week 10 at Atlanta, where he will get to kick inside.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff kicked field goals of 41, 48 and 38 yards along with four extra points in a Week 7 win over the Bills.
Analysis: Cundiff kicked just one field goal in each of the first five weeks this season, but he always looked to be in for a big haul in Week 7 and Cundiff came through with flying colors for those who picked him up as a bye-week replacement. The Ravens are off in Week 8, so Cundiff will be dropped by a ton of owners this Tuesday/Wednesday, and he will remain just a low-end emergency option once Baltimore comes off their bye.
News:Billy Cundiff scored eight points on two FGs, both from inside of 30 yards, and two extra points in Sunday's 23-20 overtime loss at New England.
Analysis: Cundiff remains a decent Fantasy kicker worth a look as at least a one-week replacement and at best as a solid starter on an offense that can move the chains. Keep him in lineups and add him off waivers in Week 7 as the Ravens should have many scoring opportunities when they play the Bills.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff kicked a 37-yard field goal and four extra points in a Week 5 win over the Broncos.
Analysis: This was Cundiff's biggest haul of the season, but he could have a solid chance to top that in Week 6 when the Ravens play at New England, who have looked ordinary on defense in 2010. Only use him as a low-end bye-week replacement option though, as the Baltimore offense can also look ordinary at times.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff went 1 for 2 on field goal tries for the second consecutive week at the Steelers in Week 4. He converted two extra points to finish with five points. He has not scored more than six points in any of his first four games.
Analysis: Cundiff has attempted just six field goals in four games. He has converted one in each contest, but the Ravens offense has looked very inefficient through the first month of the season and that has limited Cundiff's Fantasy appeal. View him as no more than an emergency bye week replacement for Week 5 against the Broncos.
News: Baltimore called upon kicker Billy Cundiff for a 51-yard field goal attempt early in the third quarter on Sunday of Week 3 against the Browns. Cundiff missed that attempt, however. He hit the left crossbar and it bounced off. Cundiff later made good on a 49-yard attempt that made the score 24-17, the game's final score. Cundiff was 1 for 2 on field goals and 3 for 3 on PATs for six points.
Analysis: Cundiff played his best game thus far this season as he entered the Week 3 game just 2 for 2 on field goals and 2 for 2 on PATs. The Ravens definitely did more scoring this week than in priors. Unfortunately, we are not sure that can continue Week 4. The Ravens travel to Pittsburgh to face the NFL's best defense. We would call Cundiff just a No. 2 Fantasy K for Week 4.
News: The Ravens offense once again had trouble putting points on the board in Week 2 against the Bengals, so kicker Billy Cundiff once again had limited opportunities. He made a 38-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to give Baltimore a 10-9 lead, but Cincinnati went on to win 15-10. Cundiff made his only extra point and has eight points in two games.
Analysis: Coming into the season, Baltimore was expected to field an offense that could move the football and put points on the board. Through the first two weeks, the Ravens have been one of the worst scoring offenses in the NFL. We don't think that trend will last, but it's hard to trust Cundiff right now in Fantasy. The Ravens play the Browns in Week 3.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff made one field goal and converted his lone extra point try against the Jets in Week 1. Cundiff, who beat out Shayne Graham for the kicking job, connected on a 25-yard field goal and kicked the PAT after Willis McGahee scored in the second quarter.
Analysis: Cundiff made 18 of 23 field goals for the Ravens a year ago and should be able to collect a few more points as he faces the Bengals in Week 2. The Ravens should score a ton of points once they get their running game going so consider Cundiff a sleeper in deeper leagues later on in the year.
News: Multiple reports say that Billy Cundiff has won the right to be the Ravens' kicker to start the season. He beat out veteran leg Shayne Graham for the job. Cundiff made 18 of 23 field goals last season.
Analysis: Cundiff will be the kicker for a potent offense this year, making him a low-end starting Fantasy option. Chances are he'll get passed on in drafts but he might help you out off waivers this summer.
News: The battle for the starting kicking job in Baltimore continued Saturday when the Ravens played at the Redskins. Incumbent Billy Cundiff hit two field goals of 26 and 42 yards while Shayne Graham hit two extra points and a 24-yard field goal. Cundiff hit the extra points in the team's first preseason game while Graham went 1 for 2, just missing a 50-yard field goal.
Analysis: Expect this battle to rage further, but the reality is that both guys could have a job this season given that the Ravens won't keep both and a kicker-needy team could snare the other. Whoever wins the job in Baltimore, though, will kick for a good team with an improved offense. We'll watch the battle closely, but for now neither warrants a pick in standard Fantasy play.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff got the kicking competition with K Shayne Graham underway during Thursday's preseason opener against the Panthers. Cundiff handled the extra points while Graham was on field-goal duty. Graham went 1 for 2, just missing a 50-yard field goal. Cundiff nailed both of his extra points. Coach John Harbaugh said "it is too early" to say if Cundiff or Graham had an edge in the kicking battle.
Analysis: Cundiff did a fine job in 2009 for Baltimore, hitting 18 of 23 field goals and all 23 extra points. But Baltimore added Graham from Cincinnati in the offseason and he appears to be the frontrunner in the race for the placekicking job. Harbaugh said the performances of Cundiff and Graham during preseason games trump what they do during training camp, so we doubt this battle is over after one game. It's only worth drafting Cundiff in Fantasy, if he wins the job. Keep track of his progress, but if you had to draft a Ravens kicker, go with Graham.
News: The Ravens signed kicker Shayne Graham to a one-year deal Thursday. Graham is expected to compete with Billy Cundiff for the kicking job, but Graham, the NFL's fourth-most accurate kicker, is considered the front-runner. Graham, who played for the Bengals from 2003 to 2009, has the highest success rate (86.7 percent) in team history. He has plenty of leg strength to convert from beyond 50 yards, and he's an asset on kickoffs (37 touchbacks in the past four seasons). But Graham is coming off one of the worst seasons of his nine-year NFL career. He made only 23 of 28 field goals and slipped in the playoffs. In the 24-14 playoff loss to the New York Jets, Graham missed key field goals from 35 and 28 yards out while playing at home.
Analysis: Here's another team with two capable kickers in a potentially powerful offense (Houston is one). Whoever wins the job will be worth owning as a starting Fantasy option, but until it's determined who that man is, you're taking a risk by drafting either Graham or Cundiff. One could make the argument that the Ravens wouldn't have signed Graham if Cundiff was doing his job well, so perhaps Graham has the edge. Neither one would be any better than a final-round draft pick.
News: The Baltimore Sun reports Tuesday that the Ravens are close to striking a one-year deal with kicker Shayne Graham. Graham, the fourth-most accurate kicker in NFL history who struggled in last season's playoffs with the Bengals, would then compete against Billy Cundiff to be the Ravens' kicker this season. Graham, who played for the Bengals from 2003 to 2009, has the highest success rate (86.7 percent) in team history. He has plenty of leg strength to convert from beyond 50 yards and he's an asset on kickoffs (37 touchbacks over the past four seasons).
Analysis: Keep an eye on what happens with Graham and if he signs with the Ravens. We would expect Graham to win the job over Cundiff, and whoever kicks for the Ravens this year should be considered a low-end No. 1 option. The Ravens offense is on the rise, and the kicker in Baltimore could be a nice sleeper.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff was impressive during Tuesday's practice, as he made six of his eight attempts, including one of more than 50 yards, and his misses were from 40 and 60 yards. Cundiff replaced Steven Hauschka last season and nailed all 23 of his extra points and 18 of 23 field goal attempts. "He's been kicking very well," coach John Harbaugh said.
Analysis: Cundiff never was a great Fantasy option, but with the Ravens offense on the rise and potentially being the best offense in their division (and potentially one of the better ones in the NFL), his opportunities to score might be plentiful. He's worth a look late in drafts.
News: Kicker Billy Cundiff has signed his restricted free agent tender and is expected to at least compete for the starting job in camp this summer. Cundiff replaced Steven Hauschka last season and nailed all 23 of his extra points and 18 of 23 field goal attempts.
Analysis: Cundiff never was a great Fantasy option, but with the Ravens offense on the rise and potentially being the best offense in their division (and potentially one of the better ones in the NFL), his opportunities to score might be plentiful. He's worth a look late in drafts.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff, who had missed only three field goals all year, missed two Week 17 at Oakland, including a 37-yarder to end the half. He did hit three extra points, though.
Analysis: The Ravens move the ball well enough to give Cundiff a couple field goal opportunities every week, which makes him a worthwhile Fantasy option. If he ends up back in Baltimore next season, he could have some appeal, but the Ravens will probably look into other options.
News: Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff played well Sunday at Pittsburgh. He made two field goals and two extra points and did not miss a kick. His long field goal was 35 yards.
Analysis: Cundiff has done well since taking over as the starting kicker for the Ravens. Consider him a low-end No. 1 option in Week 17 at Oakland.
News: Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff was 1 of 2 on field goals and made all four extra points Sunday against Chicago. His field goal was from 40 yards.
Analysis: Cundiff has done well since taking over as the starting kicker for the Ravens. But he has a tough matchup at the Steelers, and he should be considered a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: Baltimore PK Billy Cundiff was able to play through a head injury in Week 14 against the Lions and finished with 12 points. He made both of the field goals he attempted, converting kicks from 25 and 38 yards out. He also made all six extra points he attempted.
Analysis: Cundiff had only two points Week 13 against Green Bay, so Fantasy owners are certainly glad to see him bounce back with a solid performance against a weak opponent. However, the Ravens take on a better defense in Week 15 against the Bears. Think of him as just a low-end Fantasy option for that contest as that game will likely be a defensive struggle.
News: Baltimore PK Billy Cundiff (head) is active for the team's Week 14 game against the Lions. Cundiff had just two points on Monday in the team's Week 13 game against the Packers.
Analysis: Cundiff had solid games in Weeks 11 and 12 against the Colts and Steelers, respectively, but was barely able to get on the field against the Packers. That should be different in Week 14 against the lowly Lions. The Ravens should have no issues scoring in that one so consider him a viable option in deeper leagues.
News: Baltimore PK Billy Cundiff (head) is expected to be active for the team's Week 14 game against the Lions. Cundiff had just two points on Monday in the team's Week 13 game against the Packers.

That should be different in Week 14 against the lowly Lions. The Ravens should have no issues scoring in that one so consider him a viable option in deeper leagues.
News: Baltimore PK Billy Cundiff (head) was a limited participant in practice on Thursday as the team prepares for its Week 14 game against the Lions. Cundiff had just two points on Monday in the team's Week 13 game against the Packers.

That should be different in Week 14 against the lowly Lions. The Ravens should have no issues scoring in that one so consider him a viable option in deeper leagues.
News: Baltimore K Billy Cundiff didn't even see the playing field on Monday night until after halftime at Green Bay in Week 13. He finished with just two points as he did not attempt a single field goal in the game. He went 2 of 2 on PATs.
Analysis: Cundiff had solid games in Weeks 11 and 12 against the Colts and Steelers, respectively, but was barely able to get on the field against the Packers. That should be different in Week 14 against the lowly Detroit Lions. The Ravens should have no issues scoring in that one so consider him a viable option in deeper leagues.
News:Billy Cundiff seems like the Ravens' answer at kicker for the rest of the season. He hit two of three field goals, missing on a 56-yard attempt to win the game in regulation but nailing a 29-yard attempt in overtime for the win. He also hit two extra points.
Analysis: Cundiff is beginning to warrant attention as at least a low-end starting Fantasy kicker as the Baltimore offense gives him plenty of tries to score. Consider him off waivers if you're struggling at the position headed into Week 13 when he and the Ravens play at Green Bay.
News: Ravens K Billy Cundiff kicked 5 of 6 field goal attempts in a Week 11 loss to the Colts. Cundiff was successful from 46, 44, 38, 26 and 20 yards, and missed from 30 yards out.
Analysis: Cundiff came in to replace the ineffective Steven Hauschka and certainly did his job in Week 11. Don't expect another outing like this from Cundiff this season, as the Ravens offense isn't exactly a juggernaut by any means, so leave him alone in Week 12 vs. Pittsburgh.
News: The Ravens have signed kicker Billy Cundiff after a short but perfect stint with Cleveland earlier this season. The 29-year-old Cundiff replaces an ineffective Steve Hauschka, who was cut Tuesday after missing a field goal and having an extra point blocked in Monday night's 16-0 win over the Browns.
Analysis: Cundiff has made 66 of 89 field-goal attempts. He kicked for the Cowboys from 2002-05 and was 6 for 6 on field goal tries with Cleveland as a replacement for the injured Phil Dawson. He's only worth adding in the deepest of Fantasy leagues since the Ravens offense has been known to put up some points.
News: No longer needed, kicker Billy Cundiff has been waived by the Cleveland Browns. Cundiff filled in while Phil Dawson missed five games with a pulled right calf muscle. Cundiff made all six field-goal tries for the Browns. The Browns also waived defensive back Anthony Madison.
Analysis: Neither of these players were expected to produce enough stats to warrant Fantasy use. Keep them off of rosters for now.
News: Cleveland PK Phil Dawson will be the team's starting kicker on Sunday in the team's Week 8 game at Chicago. Dawson has not played since Week 2 with a right calf injury.
Analysis: Although Dawson is going to be active, he is not a recommended option for Week 8 as the Browns will likely struggle to score against the Bears. Cundiff should not be active in any formats either as he is inactive.
News: According to the Akron Beacon Journal, Browns PK Phil Dawson could be back for the team's Week 8 game at Chicago. "I'd like to think we have a good shot at that," Browns coach Eric Mangini said.
Analysis: Even if Dawson is able to return for Week 8, he won't be a recommended Fantasy option as the Browns have struggled to score points this season. If Billy Cundiff gets the start again, he should be considered a low-end option as well.
News: Cleveland put up just three points on the Packers Week 7 at home. They had to struggle for those points, too. Kicker Billy Cundiff hit the uprights on his 2nd quarter field goal and the ball just bounced through for a 22-yard make. He finished with three points on the game.
Analysis: Cundiff has just 22 points on the season in five games. The Browns offense struggles to put up points and they play at Chicago Week 8. That doesn't bode well for Cundiff. Keep him on waivers or on your bench.
News: Cleveland K Phil Dawson (right calf) did not participate in practice all week as the team prepares for its Week 7 game against the Packers. He is considered doubtful for the game.
Analysis: Dawson thought to potentially be ready for Week 6 but he ended up being inactive again and Billy Cundiff got the start. Dawson will likely be out again in Week 7, which means Cundiff will again get the starting nod. Dawson and Cundiff are not worth owning in Fantasy considering how poor the Browns offense has been this season.
News: Browns kicker Phil Dawson (calf) was listed among the inactives for Week 6 at Pittsburgh. Billy Cundiff once again was activated as the kicker in his place. He did not attempt a field goal in the game, but made two extra points to finish with two points.
Analysis: It looks like Dawson could be back for Week 7, but he wouldn't be a recommended option in the first place as the Browns won't likely score too many points against Green Bay. Leave him on waivers.
News: Browns kicker Phil Dawson (calf) was listed among the inactives for Week 6 at Pittsburgh. Billy Cundiff once again was activated as the kicker in his place.
Analysis: Neither Browns kicker is worth starting in Fantasy play because the Cleveland offense is a mess. Keep both reserved until further notice.
News: Browns coach Eric Mangini said a decision on K Phil Dawson won't be made until closer to kickoff. Dawson returned to practice this week after missing the last three games with a calf injury, but with a mix of rain and snow showers in the forecast for Sunday, Mangini may stick with Billy Cundiff, who is 5 for 5 on field goals while filling in for Dawson.
Analysis: Neither Browns kicker is worth starting in Fantasy play because the Cleveland offense is a mess, not to mention they'll be playing against a good Steelers defense. Keep both off rosters this week.
News: Cleveland K Phil Dawson was limited on practice on Thursday as the team prepares for its Week 6 game at Pittsburgh. According to the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, Dawson said on Wednesday that he'd like to return this week."It would be nice any week. This isn't any week, this is Steeler week. There are a lot of guys in this locker room who have been a part of this rivalry. The amount of respect that I have for that organization and what they have been able to do, to get a chance to play against them is obviously what you want to do." Dawson also commented on the kicking of his replacement the past three weeks, Billy Cundiff. "He has been doing great. I've been real happy for him. He has helped the team, made the game-winner last week, that's great."
Analysis: It looks like Dawson might be back for Week 6, but he wouldn't be a recommended option in the first place as the Browns won't likely score too many points at Pittsburgh. Keep leaving him on waivers. Cundiff is also not a recommended option, if he is kicking Week 6.
News: Cleveland K Phil Dawson was limited on practice on Wednesday as the team prepares for its Week 6 game at Pittsburgh. According to the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, Dawson said he'd like to return this week."It would be nice any week. This isn't any week, this is Steeler week. He has helped the team, made the game-winner last week, that's great."
Analysis: It looks like Dawson might be back for Week 6, but he wouldn't be a recommended option in the first place as the Browns won't likely score too much at Pittsburgh. Keep leaving him on waivers. Cundiff is also not a recommended option, if he is kicking Week 6.
News: Browns PK Billy Cundiff, who is only playing as a replacement for PK Phil Dawson, nailed two field goals to give the team a 6-3 win at Buffalo in Week 5. Both kicks were inside of 25 yards.
Analysis: Cundiff isn't worth using next week when the Browns play at the Steelers in Week 6 -- and that's if he's the team's starting kicker. Keep him off of Fantasy rosters.
News: Browns kicker Phil Dawson missed practice on Friday and is doubtful for Sunday's Week 5 game in Buffalo. Billy Cundiff will likely make his third straight start for Dawson against the Bills.
Analysis: Expect Cundiff to again get the start Week 5 with Dawson still on the mend. Whoever is kicking for the Browns Week 5 does not need to be active in any format as Cleveland's offense has been poor this season.
Whoever is kicking for the Browns Week 5 does not need to be active in any format as Cleveland faces a tough Baltimore defense.
News: Browns kicker Phil Dawson (ankle) missed practice again Thursday. He hasn't played in Cleveland's past two games. Billy Cundiff replaced Dawson the past two weeks.
Analysis: Keep an eye on what happens with Dawson, but he and Cundiff would have minimal Fantasy value depending on who is the kicker against the Bills. The Browns offense doesn't score enough for the starting kicker to have much Fantasy value.
News: Cleveland K Phil Dawson did not participate in practice on Wednesday as the team prepares for its Week 5 game at Buffalo. Dawson has missed the past two games and is considered questionable for the team's upcoming game on Sunday.
Analysis: Both Dawson and replacement kicker Billy Cundiff are just last resort options when active. Look for Cundiff to again get the start Week 5, but don't have him active outside of the deepest of formats.
News: Cleveland K Billy Cundiff converted both of his field goal attempts on Sunday in the team's 23-20 overtime loss to the Bengals Week 4. Cundiff's longest field goal was good from 29 yards out.
Analysis: Cundiff has now started two games for the Browns with Phil Dawson still on the mend with a right calf injury. If Cundiff is still kicking Week 5 at Buffalo, he will again not be a recommended option.
News: Cleveland K Phil Dawson has been listed as inactive for the team's Week 4 game against the Bengals with a right calf injury. Dawson also missed Week 3 with the same injury.
Analysis: Billy Cundiff will get the start again Week 4 for the Browns but is not a recommended option as the Browns offense is not too good. Both Dawson and Cundiff are just last resort options when active.
News: The Browns may be without RB Jamal Lewis and K Phil Dawson for the second straight game. Lewis hurt his hamstring Sept. 20 against Denver and Dawson strained his right calf last week. Both were listed as doubtful on the injury report Friday, along with right guard Floyd Womack. None of the three practiced this week, but coach Eric Mangini wouldn't rule anyone out for Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals (2-1). "I think there's a chance for all the guys," he said. "You want to go to the end to make sure you give them the best opportunity." Lewis was replaced last week by Jerome Harrison, who had 16 carries for 52 yards.
Analysis: It sounds like Lewis and Dawson will be out again Sunday against the Bengals. You should plan on keeping both reserved, and Jerome Harrison will likely start against Cincinnati at RB with Cundiff again handling the kicking duties. Consider Harrison a sleeper against the Bengals if Lewis is out, and rookie James Davis will likely get some touches as well. Cundiff is not a good Fantasy option and should not be used in Week 4.
News: Browns RB Jamal Lewis and kicker Phil Dawson missed their second straight day of practice. Lewis (hamstring) and Dawson (knee) missed last Sunday's game in Baltimore and may have to sit out this week against the Cincinnati Bengals. Lewis did not participate in Thursday's team workout, but he rode a stationary bike and did some stretching and running drills with one of the team's trainers. Dawson was not seen on the field. Browns coach Eric Mangini said it will be the end of the week before he knows if Lewis or Dawson can play. Kicker Billy Cundiff was signed one day before the Ravens game last week and booted a 29-yard field goal.
Cundiff is not a good Fantasy option and should be used in Week 4.
News: Newly signed Cleveland K Billy Cundiff was responsbile for the Browns' only points in a 34-3 loss to the Ravens. Cundiff hit his only field goal attempt in the game, which was from 29 yards out.
Analysis: Cundiff was signed before Week 3's game because usual Browns kicker Phil Dawson could not play due to an injured right calf. The Browns' offense is terrible and anyone kicking for the Browns is not a recommended Fantasy option. If Cundiff is back for Week 4's game against the Bengals, think of him as just a low-end option.
News:Phil Dawson will miss Sunday's Week 3 game against Baltimore. Dawson, who has had some of his best games against Baltimore, is sidelined with an injured right calf. The Browns (0-2) have been held to just 26 points in their first two games, and Dawson has scored 14 of them.
Analysis: To replace Dawson, Cleveland signed kicker Billy Cundiff, who spent four seasons with the Cowboys and one in New Orleans. He was released by Detroit on Sept. 5. Cundiff was one of five kickers the Browns worked out on Friday, when Dawson was added to the injury report. In 58 career regular-season games, Cundiff has made 60 of 83 field goal attempts and 100 of 101 PATs. Dawson has made 24 of 26 field goals in 19 career games against Baltimore. Two years ago, he kicked a 33-yarder in overtime to give the Browns a 33-30 overtime win in Baltimore. Dawson had forced OT by kicking a 51-yard field goal as time expired in regulation. Dawson is just a last resort Fantasy kicker when healthy. Cundiff is not recommended for Week 3's game against the Ravens.
News: Lions K Billy Cundiff was released on Saturday after he lost out to Jason Hanson.
Analysis: Hanson will barely be worth using in Fantasy play as a kicker for what will likely be one of the worst teams in the NFL. Cundiff can obviously be ignored in all formats.
News: The Detroit Lions have signed defensive end Orion Martin and kicker Billy Cundiff. Detroit cut wide receiver Eric Fowler and kicker Swayze Waters to make room on the roster Wednesday. Cundiff, who will kick against the Colts in place of the injured Jason Hanson, played for Dallas from 2002-05 and was in five games with New Orleans in 2006.
Analysis: Hanson, one of six players in NFL history with 400 field goals, has said he's on schedule to play in the opener at New Orleans. This means that Cundiff will either be the backup in the regular season or no longer be on the team. Either way, he's not worth owning in Fantasy. That is for sure.
News: The Chiefs signed PKs Billy Cundiff and Nick Novak on Monday. They are expected to compete with PK John Carney for the starting job this offseason. Cundiff signed as a rookie free agent with Dallas in 2002 and spent four seasons with the Cowboys. He played for New Orleans in 2006 and was waived by Atlanta before last season after attending training camp with the Falcons. Novak has played 16 games in the NFL.
Analysis: Whomever kicks for Kansas City in 2008 won't be any better than a bye-week replacement because of the Chiefs' declining offense. Look elsewhere for a starter.
News: The Chiefs will open up the kicking competition in 2008 after they agreed to contract terms with veteran kickers Billy Cundiff and Nick Novak, according to the Kansas City Star. Each worked out for the Chiefs during the season when they were trying to find a replacement first for Justin Medlock and later for Dave Rayner. Cundiff, 27, kicked for the Cowboys and Saints in his five-season career and made 72.3 percent of his field-goal attempts. Novak, 26, kicked three seasons for Arizona and Washington and made 65 percent of his field-goal attempts. The Chiefs may try to re-sign incumbent kicker John Carney. Carney, who will be 44 in April, made all three of his field-goal tries for the Chiefs and 12 of 14 last season, including his eight games with Jacksonville. Carney joined the Chiefs in December but signed for only the seasons final five games.
Analysis: Keep an eye on what develops with the Chiefs kicker spot, but go into 2008 waiting to see who wins the job. Carney will likely have the inside track since he's familiar with the team, but nothing will be guaranteed.
News: According to the Times-Picayune, the Saints will audition at least three kickers on Tuesday in search of a possible replacement for Olindo Mare, who has missed four of seven field goals this season. League sources indicated Mike Vanderjagt, the most accurate kicker in National Football League history and someone whom the Saints worked out in March, is among those scheduled to work, as is former Dallas and Tampa Bay kicker Martin Gramatica. The agent for former Saints kicker Billy Cundiff confirmed Cundiff's scheduled workout.
Analysis: Mare struggled in Miami last season, but obviously the Saints thought his poor kicking could be solved by a move indoors. At the moment, it looks like they were dead wrong. If you own Mare, you better have a capable backup.
News: The Atlanta Falcons made two relatively surprising moves on Saturday, trading return specialist Allen Rossum to Pittsburgh and releasing place-kicker Billy Cundiff in favor of Matt Prater. Prater kicked two fourth-quarter field goals in Atlanta's preseason victory over Baltimore on Friday. Though he had been on the roster just 48 hours and has no NFL game experience, Prater was deemed an immediate improvement over Cundiff, who played for Dallas and New Orleans.
Analysis: Cundiff is a journeyman kicker and it wouldn't surprise us if he lands with another team. However, he is not a strong Fantasy option when active and can be ignored at this time.
News: According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Falcons' kicking job is Billy Cundiff's for now. The team cut Aaron Elling, who had been competing with Cundiff, before Monday's evening practice. Cundiff is trying to restart his career after playing just six games last season for the New Orleans Saints following four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. Cundiff served mainly as a kickoff specialist with the Saints, attempting just one field goal. For his career, Cundiff has converted 60 of 83 field goals (73.3 percent). His best season was 2003, when he made nearly 80 percent of his field goals. The Falcons have given no indication that they will add another kicker.
Analysis: Cundiff should be considered a low-end kicker in Fantasy leagues because the Falcons offense will probably suffer now that Michael Vick isn't playing. Consider Cundiff as a bye-week option at best. Elling has no Fantasy value as of now.
News: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Billy Cundiff and Aaron Elling are battling for the starting placekicker job, while former kicker Michael Koenen is concentrating on his punting duties.
Analysis: It appears Cundiff or Elling will be the man for the Falcons with Koenen serving as an emergency replacement in the event of injury to the starter. Monitor the battle during the exhibition schedule before investing in either of the two for Fantasy purposes. They're likely only worth a look in leagues of 14 or more teams at this point.
News: Kicker Billy Cundiff signed a one-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons after playing six games with New Orleans last season. Cundiff will compete with Aaron Elling for the kicking job. The Falcons tried punter Michael Koenen and veteran Morten Andersen at kicker last season. Cundiff missed his only attempt last season with New Orleans and was used primarily on kickoffs. He made 60 of 82 field-goal attempts with Dallas from 2002-05. Cundiff made a record-tying seven field goals in coach Bill Parcells' first victory with Dallas -- a 35-32 win over the Giants on Sept. 15, 2003. Cundiff set a Dallas record with a 56-yard field goal in 2005. He was 23 of 29 for Dallas in 2003 but was released by the Cowboys late in the 2005 season.
Analysis: Cundiff is an average NFL kicker playing with an offense that is transitioning to a new system in 2007. Consider Cundiff at best a bye-week replacement option when the matchup is right.
News: NFL Network reports that free-agent PK Billy Cundiff is being chased by the Giants and Falcons, two teams that have yet to hire a legitimate starting kicker. The Giants have already worked out Cundiff, and the Falcons are bringing him in for a workout of their own.
Analysis: Cundiff isn't a consistent or reliable Fantasy kicker and shouldn't be a consideration in 2007 Fantasy play even if he does sign with the Giants or Falcons.
News: The New Orleans Saints brought back kickoff specialist Billy Cundiff on Tuesday for the playoffs. Cundiff initially was signed before the Saints' victory at Atlanta on Nov. 26 and handled kickoffs through Week 16. He was waived during the final week of the regular season as part of a move to bring in offensive or defensive reserves who spelled starters in New Orleans' regular season finale - a game with no playoff implications as the Saints already had clinched the No. 2 seed in the NFC. Veteran kicker John Carney has handled field goals throughout the season, but Cundiff gave the Saints better height and distance on kickoffs, something Saints coach Sean Payton believed was needed to win field position battles.
Analysis: Cundiff shouldn't be owned in any Fantasy formats.
News: Billy Cundiff got into the game in Week 14 at Dallas but he was used as the kickoff specialist and not as the placekicker for extra points or field goals.
Analysis: Cundiff is not a recommended Fantasy option in Week 15 against the Redskins.
News: Saints backup QB Jamie Martin, K Billy Cundiff, RB Aaron Stecker, TE Billy Miller, WR Michael Lewis, TE John Owens did not record any offensive stats in Week 13 vs. San Francisco.
Analysis: None of these players should be relied on in Fantasy leagues until further notice.
News: The Saints signed kicker Billy Cundiff Thursday, presumably to handle kickoff duties. The team waived RB Corey McIntyre to make room for Cundiff. The Saints were forced to use 42-year-old placekicker John Carney in the kickoff game when the team placed Mitch Berger on injured reserve before the season began. Cundiff is another player who was on the Dallas Cowboys' roster when Saints coach Sean Payton was the passing-game coordinator in Dallas.
Analysis: Carney is still the primary kicker, so Cundiff has no Fantasy value at this time.
News: The Packers have released PK Billy Cundiff, who signed with the team on March 27. Dave Rayner is the only kicker on the club heading into their second preseason game.
Analysis: Give him the cold shoulder -- Cundiff should be released from all Fantasy teams and not be drafted in any leagues.
News: The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports Billy Cundiff and Dave Rayner will battle to become the Packers' No. 1 kicker for next season.
Analysis: Neither Cundiff nor Rayner will warrant much consideration outside of larger leagues that require owners to field two kickers.

Analysis: Cundiff will warrant little consideration in drafts.

News: Billy Cundiff, who kicked a 56-yard field goal in last week's win over Detroit, faces the Denver Broncos on Thanksgiving Day.
Analysis: Despite the impressive boot in Week 11, Cundiff is still not a recommended option in most leagues.

Analysis: Despite a nice return to action, Cundiff is still not a recommended option for Week 12 against the Denver Broncos.
News: Dallas has cut PK Shaun Suisham, doing so before their Week 11 game vs. Detroit. He is replaced by Billy Cundiff, whom the team cut during training camp.
Analysis: Cundiff should get some weekly Fantasy consideration as a member of the 'Boys.
News: DallasCowboys.com reports Billy Cundiff will miss 3-4 weeks with an injured hip. "I really don't know what you can do," head coach Bill Parcells said. "But kickers that you can't be sure what you're going to get, you can't [keep]."
Analysis: It appears Jose Cortez will be given a chance to take the No. 1 spot from Cundiff, who might be released.
News: Jose Cortez, who has kicked for four other NFL teams, was signed after working out for the Cowboys on Saturday. Wade Richey worked out but wasn't signed. The Cowboys waived injured kicker Brett Visintainer, who coach Bill Parcells said had a back injury. Also on the roster is Billy Cundiff, the team's kicker the past three seasons. Cortez spent the last two seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, appearing in 10 games and only handling kickoffs. He hasn't attempted a field goal since 2002 with Washington, when he made 23-of-32 that season.
Analysis: Cundiff should be able to hold off Cortez for regular kicking duties. Cortez is more of a kickoff specialist. Neither warrant anything but last-round consideration on Draft Day. Cowboys kickers just are not that promising.
News: The Cowboys official website reports the team has re-signed Billy Cundiff to a one-year, $658,000 deal.
Analysis: Cundiff does not warrant consideration in most drafts.

News: Billy Cundiff has been held without a field goal in each of the past two games. He'll face the Giants in Week 5.
