News: The Jets terminated the contract of reserve RB Musa Smith on Tuesday. Analysis: Smith wasn't expected to produce many stats to begin with. Keep the former Georgia Bulldog off rosters until further notice.
Jets sign RB Smith Jets sign RB Smith Updated 5/28/2008
Musa Smith, RB BAL
News: The Jets signed RB Musa Smith to a contract on Tuesday, padding their depth at running back. Smith previously spent five seasons with the Ravens. Smith finished the '07 season with 75 carries for 264 yards and two touchdowns and 27 catches for 192 yards. In his lone start, Smith had 22 carries for 83 yards and a touchdown. Analysis: Smith is expected to compete for a spot along the depth chart, but that's about it. Ignore him in Fantasy play for now.
Musa Smith enters free agency Musa Smith enters free agency Updated 1/18/2008
Musa Smith, RB BAL
News: Ravens RB Musa Smith enters the offseason as a free agent, and he will look to get increased carries somewhere. Smith, who started the final game of 2007 with Willis McGahee (ribs) out, finished the season with 75 carries for 264 yards and two touchdowns and 27 catches for 192 yards. In his lone start against Pittsburgh, Smith had 22 carries for 83 yards and a touchdown. Analysis: Smith was a capable backup to McGahee, but he wants to be a starter in the NFL. Look for Smith to remain a backup somewhere, but his carries will likely increase wherever he lands. Go into the offseason with Smith as a No. 4 Fantasy RB with the chance to see his value increase depending on where he lands.

News: Ravens RB Musa Smith, making his first NFL start, carried 22 times for 83 yards Week 17 against the Steelers, scoring a touchdown on a two-yard run in the first quarter. He also caught three passes for eight yards. Analysis: Smith averaged under four yards per carry this season, so it's not like he convinced some NFL team to steal him away and him its starter. He'll enter 2008 as a low-end reserve again and will likely go undrafted in Fantasy.
Musa Smith will start Week 17 Musa Smith will start Week 17 Updated 12/27/2007
Musa Smith, RB BAL
News: With Ravens starting RB Willis McGahee out with cracked ribs and backup Mike Anderson nursing a hamstring injury, Musa Smith will make his first NFL start Week 17 against the Steelers, according to The Sports Xchange. Analysis: Smith has handled 53 carries this season, averaging 3.4 yards per carry. That rate won't set the world on fire, but with so many iffy backfield situations across the NFL over the season's final week, it has the potential to make an impact if attached to an assured number of touches. Snatch Smith up off waivers if you have a hole in your backfield for Week 17.

Musa Smith, RB BAL
News: Ravens RB Musa Smith split carries with RB Mike Anderson during a Week 16 loss to the Seahawks after Willis McGahee went down with a rib injury in the first quarter. Smith finished with seven carries for 25 yards, including a long gain of eight yards. He also had two catches for 12 yards. Analysis: Smith was getting about 4-6 carries per game even when McGahee was in the lineup. He now has 22 carries for 95 yards in four December games. There is a chance he starts Week 17 against the Steelers because of McGahee's injury, but even if that happens, he is nothing more than a desperation Fantasy option.

Musa Smith, RB BAL
News: Ravens backup RB Musa Smith ran for 39 yards on five carries and caught one pass for 29 yards in Baltimore's 22-16 loss to the Dolphins in Week 15. Analysis: Smith is one of the better backup RBs in the NFL, but he's only worth using as insurance for Willis McGahee owners. Do not start him in Week 16 against the Seahawks.
Musa Smith no cause for excitement Musa Smith no cause for excitement Updated 12/10/2007
Musa Smith, RB BAL
News: Ravens RB Musa Smith had four carries for seven yards and one catch for one Week 14 against the Colts. Analysis: Smith doesn't see enough touches on a week-to-week basis to serve as anything more than injury insurance in Fantasy. Willis McGahee owners might grab him, but everyone else can leave him on waivers for Week 15 at Miami.

News: Ravens backup RB Musa Smith ran six times for 24 yards Week 13 against the Patriots. He also caught a 13-yard pass. Analysis: Smith doesn't see enough touches on a week-to-week basis to serve as anything more than injury insurance in Fantasy. Willis McGahee owners might grab him, but everyone else can leave him on waivers for Week 14 against the Colts.

Musa Smith, RB BAL
News: Ravens RB Musa Smith went nowhere on the ground Week 12 against the Chargers. He had three rushes for minus-3 yards. However, he did experience more success through the air, catching four passes for 28 yards. Analysis: Willis McGahee has been relatively injury-free this season and Smith continues to wait in the wings for his chance to carry the load. Smith is nothing more than a Fantasy reserve heading into Week 13 against the Patriots.

Musa Smith, RB BAL
News: Ravens RB Musa Smith had one carry for 7 yards and two catches for 3 yards Sunday against Cleveland. Analysis: Smith is the No. 2 RB for the Ravens and should only be used if something happens to Willis McGahee. For now, consider Smith a low-end Fantasy option since McGahee is healthy.

News: Ravens RB Musa Smith had one catch for 1 yard Sunday against the Bengals. Analysis: Smith is the backup RB for the Ravens and is only worth starting if Willis McGahee is hurt. For now, keep Smith reserved in Week 11 against the Browns.

Musa Smith, RB BAL
News: Ravens RB Musa Smith had one carry for 11 yards Week 9 at Pittsburgh. He also had 89 return yards. He took over at tailback late in the game after starter Willis McGahee suffered a concussion. Analysis: McGahee appeared active and alert on the sidelines, so we don't expect him to miss any time at this point. Smith only has Fantasy value as an insurance policy for McGahee. He doesn't put up all that many stats with the starting tailback healthy. Unless the concussion proves more severe than we anticipate, keep Smith reserved for Week 10 against the Bengals.

Musa Smith, RB BAL
News: Ravens RB Musa Smith had one carry for six yards during a Week 7 loss to the Bills. He now has 26 carries for 71 yards and one touchdown in seven games. Week 7 was the first time all season he had less than one carry. Analysis: Smith only has Fantasy value as an insurance policy for Willis McGahee owners. He doesn't put up all that many stats with a healthy McGahee in the lineup. He should be kept reserved at this point. The Ravens are on a bye Week 8 and return to action Week 9 against the Steelers.

Musa Smith, RB BAL
News: Ravens RB Musa Smith rushed two times for five yards during a Week 6 win over the Rams. His longest gain went for three yards. He also had two receptions for 18 yards. Analysis: Smith only has Fantasy value as an insurance policy for Willis McGahee owners. He doesn't put up all that many stats with a healthy McGahee in the lineup. He should be kept reserved at this point for Week 7 at Buffalo.

News: Ravens RBs Musa Smith (five rushes, two yards and two catches, six yards), Le'Ron McClain (one rush, two yards) and WR Yamon Figurs (one rush, minus-one yard) all had minor contributions in Baltimore's 9-7 win over San Francisco in Week 5. Analysis: Smith only has value as an insurance policy for Willis McGahee owners, while McClain and Figurs have no Fantasy value at this time. Baltimore host St. Louis in Week 6.

News: Ravens RB Musa Smith rushed for five yards on five carries and had three catches for 19 yards in Baltimore's 27-13 loss to the Browns in Week 4. Analysis: Smith is only worth having on your Fantasy team if you are in a very deep league and need a bye-week replacement or have him as a back-up for Willis McGahee. The Ravens play at San Francisco in Week 5.
Is Musa Smith an option? Is Musa Smith an option? Updated 9/28/2007
Musa Smith, RB BAL
News: With Willis McGahee expected to see the majority of the reps for the Ravens this week, Musa Smith doesn't seem like a very appealing option when he and the Ravens play at Cleveland in Week 4. Analysis: If you're desperate for a running back this week, Smith should be an option. He should get around five touches against a softish Browns defense and could see some goal-line carries. Only if you're in need of a running back this week should you roll out Smith.

News: Ravens RBs Musa Smith had three carries for eight yards and one 10-yard catch in Baltimore's Week 2 victory over the Jets, while Le'Ron McClain had two rushes for six yards and a nine-yard reception. Analysis: Smith is only worth having as a backup for Willis McGahee, while McClain is only a blocking full back and might get the odd goal line carry. Neither are worth using in Week 3 vs. Arizona.
