(7/29/2011) The Chargers released veterans DB Donald Strickland, LB Brandon Lang, WR Buster Davis, FB Kris Wilson and LB Jyles Tucker on Thursday, according to a team report.

Jets defense on the mend

(1/22/2010) Jets defensive end Shaun Ellis and linebackers David Harris and Bart Scott are probable for the AFC championship game despite being limited at practice Friday with injuries. Ellis has a broken left hand that will be in a cast for the game against the Indianapolis Colts. He'll have surgery after the game, whether the Jets win or lose. Harris (right ankle) and Scott (left ankle) were noticeably hobbled Friday during practice. Safety Kerry Rhodes was a full participant after bumping his right knee in practice Thursday. Cornerback Donald Strickland fully participated despite breaking his right pinkie in practice earlier this week.

Jets list Week 17 inactives

(1/3/2010) Jets DB Donald Strickland, RB Chauncey Washington, LB Kenwin Cummings, WR David Clowney, DL Marques Murrell, QB Erik Ainge and QB Kevin O'Connel have all been listed as inactive for the team's Week 17 game against the Bengals.

Strickland out for Week 17

(1/1/2010) Jets DB Donald Strickland (quadricep) has been ruled out of the team's Week 17 game against the Bengals.

Strickland records second sack

(12/27/2009) Jets DB Donald Strickland had one tackle during a Week 16 win against the Colts, but he made it count. Strickland recorded his second sack of the season -- both coming in the last three games.

Two Jets DBs ruled out for Week 13

(12/2/2009) Jets DBs Dwight Lowery and Donald Strickland have been ruled out of the team's Week 13 game against the Bills.

Jets announce Week 12 inactives

(11/29/2009) The Jets have listed the following players as inactive for Week 12 vs. Carolina: QB Kevin O'Connell, CB Dwight Lowery, CB Donald Strickland, LB Ryan Fowler, LB Kenwin Cummings and QB Erik Ainge.

Jets secondary a bit thin

(11/27/2009) Jets cornerbacks Dwight Lowery and Donald Strickland will not play against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday because of injuries. Lowery has a high ankle sprain, suffered last Sunday in the loss at New England. He will likely be replaced in the starting lineup by Lito Sheppard. Justin Miller, inactive the last two games, will also likely take over on kickoff returns. Strickland, a key backup, suffered a concussion against the Patriots when he was hit hard by tackle Mark LeVoir on a block.

Jets list their Week 6 inactives

(10/18/2009) The Jets' list of inactives for Week 6 against the Bills includes QB Kevin O'Connell, QB Erik Ainge, WR Brad Smith, DB Donald Strickland, DB Marquice Cole and LB Ryan Fowler.

Jets' Ellis, Strickland questionable

(10/16/2009) Jets defensive end Shaun Ellis (bruised knee) and cornerback Donald Strickland (right ankle) were limited in practice on Friday and are listed as questionable for Week 6 vs. the Bills.

Jets CBs on the way back?

(10/14/2009) Jets cornerbacks Lito Sheppard (right quadriceps) and Donald Strickland (right ankle) both returned to practice, but were limited. Neither have played since being injured in New York's win over New England in Week 2. Sheppard said he's ready to start Sunday against the Bills, and was prepared to play against the Dolphins but the team wanted to give him extra time to heal for this week. "I'm going to be ready 100 percent," Sheppard said. "When I came back, we wanted to be sure that I was going to be able to perform at the level I left off at and not have any setbacks." Elsewhere on the defense, defensive end Shaun Ellis (bruised knee) didn't practice.

Jets list Monday night inactives

(10/12/2009) The Jets have listed the following player as inactive for Week 5 on Monday night at Miami: 3rd QB Kevin O'Connell, CB Lito Sheppard, CB Donald Strickland, CB Ahmad Carroll, LB Jamaal Westerman and DL Ropati Pitoitua.

Jets CBs won't play at Saints

(10/2/2009) Jets cornerbacks Lito Sheppard and Donald Strickland have been ruled out for the team's game at New Orleans. Sheppard, who has a strained right quadriceps, and Strickland, who has a high right ankle sprain, haven't practiced or played since being injured in New York's victory over New England in Week 2. "I was hoping we'd be able to get them back and they are doing a lot better," coach Rex Ryan said Friday. "They're running, but they're not ready to go 100 percent. We think we could probably play them right now if we had to, but I don't think it's fair to them."

Revis, Rhodes back at practice

(10/1/2009) New York Jets CB Darrelle Revis and safeties Kerry Rhodes and Jim Leonhard fully participated in practice and appear set to play against the New Orleans Saints. It was encouraging news for the Jets on Thursday after Revis (hamstring) and Rhodes (knee) were limited Wednesday, while Leonhard (knee) didn't practice. The Jets will surely need all three starters Sunday against Drew Brees and the Saints' top-ranked offense. CB Lito Sheppard (right quadriceps) and CB Donald Strickland (right ankle) didn't practice again, and coach Rex Ryan said "they're iffy, especially Strickland." LB Larry Izzo (hamstring) also returned to practice.

Jets' secondary banged up

(9/30/2009) Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis and safety Kerry Rhodes were limited in practice with injuries that aren't expected to sideline them against the Saints on Sunday. Revis (hamstring) and Rhodes (knee) didn't appear to be noticeably hobbled during the 40-minute window of practice Wednesday the media are allowed to watch. Safety Jim Leonhard (knee) joined cornerbacks Lito Sheppard (right quadriceps) and Donald Strickland (right ankle) as members of the secondary who didn't practice on Wednesday.

Jets secondary a little thin

(9/25/2009) Jets cornerbacks Lito Sheppard and Donald Strickland are out for the team's game against Tennessee. Neither Sheppard (right quadriceps) nor Strickland (right ankle) practiced this week. Sheppard will be replaced in the starting lineup by Dwight Lowery, who struggled last season as a rookie. He broke up Tom Brady's final pass Sunday to Joey Galloway to seal New York's 16-9 win over New England. Drew Coleman will likely step in for Strickland in nickel packages.
