(1/22/2010) Jets defensive end Shaun Ellis and linebackers David Harris and Bart Scott are probable for the AFC championship game despite being limited at practice Friday with injuries. Ellis has a broken left hand that will be in a cast for the game against the Indianapolis Colts. He'll have surgery after the game, whether the Jets win or lose. Harris (right ankle) and Scott (left ankle) were noticeably hobbled Friday during practice. Safety Kerry Rhodes was a full participant after bumping his right knee in practice Thursday. Cornerback Donald Strickland fully participated despite breaking his right pinkie in practice earlier this week.

(11/27/2009) Jets cornerbacks Dwight Lowery and Donald Strickland will not play against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday because of injuries. Lowery has a high ankle sprain, suffered last Sunday in the loss at New England. He will likely be replaced in the starting lineup by Lito Sheppard. Justin Miller, inactive the last two games, will also likely take over on kickoff returns. Strickland, a key backup, suffered a concussion against the Patriots when he was hit hard by tackle Mark LeVoir on a block.

(10/14/2009) Jets cornerbacks Lito Sheppard (right quadriceps) and Donald Strickland (right ankle) both returned to practice, but were limited. Neither have played since being injured in New York's win over New England in Week 2. Sheppard said he's ready to start Sunday against the Bills, and was prepared to play against the Dolphins but the team wanted to give him extra time to heal for this week. "I'm going to be ready 100 percent," Sheppard said. "When I came back, we wanted to be sure that I was going to be able to perform at the level I left off at and not have any setbacks." Elsewhere on the defense, defensive end Shaun Ellis (bruised knee) didn't practice.
(10/2/2009) Jets cornerbacks Lito Sheppard and Donald Strickland have been ruled out for the team's game at New Orleans. Sheppard, who has a strained right quadriceps, and Strickland, who has a high right ankle sprain, haven't practiced or played since being injured in New York's victory over New England in Week 2. "I was hoping we'd be able to get them back and they are doing a lot better," coach Rex Ryan said Friday. "They're running, but they're not ready to go 100 percent. We think we could probably play them right now if we had to, but I don't think it's fair to them."
Revis, Rhodes back at practice
(10/1/2009) New York Jets CB Darrelle Revis and safeties Kerry Rhodes and Jim Leonhard fully participated in practice and appear set to play against the New Orleans Saints. It was encouraging news for the Jets on Thursday after Revis (hamstring) and Rhodes (knee) were limited Wednesday, while Leonhard (knee) didn't practice. The Jets will surely need all three starters Sunday against Drew Brees and the Saints' top-ranked offense. CB Lito Sheppard (right quadriceps) and CB Donald Strickland (right ankle) didn't practice again, and coach Rex Ryan said "they're iffy, especially Strickland." LB Larry Izzo (hamstring) also returned to practice.
Jets' secondary banged up
(9/30/2009) Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis and safety Kerry Rhodes were limited in practice with injuries that aren't expected to sideline them against the Saints on Sunday. Revis (hamstring) and Rhodes (knee) didn't appear to be noticeably hobbled during the 40-minute window of practice Wednesday the media are allowed to watch. Safety Jim Leonhard (knee) joined cornerbacks Lito Sheppard (right quadriceps) and Donald Strickland (right ankle) as members of the secondary who didn't practice on Wednesday.
(9/25/2009) Jets cornerbacks Lito Sheppard and Donald Strickland are out for the team's game against Tennessee. Neither Sheppard (right quadriceps) nor Strickland (right ankle) practiced this week. Sheppard will be replaced in the starting lineup by Dwight Lowery, who struggled last season as a rookie. He broke up Tom Brady's final pass Sunday to Joey Galloway to seal New York's 16-9 win over New England. Drew Coleman will likely step in for Strickland in nickel packages.

(3/25/2009) The New York Jets signed free agent cornerback Donald Strickland on Wednesday, adding another new face to their revamped secondary. Strickland, who played the last three seasons for the San Francisco 49ers, is expected to serve as a backup to projected starters Darrelle Revis and Lito Sheppard and play in nickel and dime packages.

(3/24/2008) The 49ers announced the signing of DB Donald Strickland, according to the Press Democrat. Strickland signed a one-year, $800,000 contract. The six-year veteran has played 16 games with the 49ers over the past two seasons. Strickland will be battling for playing time behind starters Nate Clements and Walt Harris. The other reserve cornerbacks on the roster are Shawntae Spencer, Marcus Hudson, Tarell Brown, Markus Curry and Allen Rossum (who is really a return specialist).

Niners make roster moves
(11/1/2006) The San Francisco 49ers signed cornerback Donald Strickland on Tuesday, adding another veteran defender to one of the NFL's worst defenses. Strickland, a San Francisco native, started 12 games during 2 1/2 seasons with the Colts, who waived him last year. He also played three games for the Eagles in 2005. The 49ers waived cornerback B.J. Tucker to make room for Strickland, but the club hopes to sign Tucker to the practice squad Wednesday. San Francisco also re-signed linebacker Renauld Williams to the practice squad and waived kicker Shaun Suisham and tackle Sam Wilder from the practice squad.
