News: The Saints announced Monday the signing of quarterback Seneca Wallace. He's expected to help back up Drew Brees in 2013. Wallace was reportedly going to sign with the Raiders but the deal never materialized.
Analysis: If Wallace plays regularly then it means Drew Brees wouldn't be and that would be bad for Fantasy purposes. Don't sweat Wallace on rosters.
News:Seneca Wallace isn't going to sign with the Raiders after an initial report said he would, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
Analysis: Wallace's Fantasy value remains the same whether he had signed with them or not: Until he gets an opportunity to play and plays well Fantasy owners can pass on him.
News: CBSSports.com NFL Insider Jason La Canfora reports the Raiders will sign quarterback Seneca Wallace. He's expected to battle for a backup job in training camp.
Analysis: With Matt Flynn the perceived starter and Terrelle Pryor supposedly nipping at his heels, there's little room for Wallace to get into the starting job. He shouldn't be on anyone's Fantasy roster.
News: ESPN reports the Saints worked out former Browns and Seahawks quarterback Seneca Wallace.
Analysis: The Saints are not looking to replace starting quarterback Drew Brees after an abysmal start. They are just taking a look to see if Wallace is worth adding to the quarterback depth chart in case something happened to Brees. Don't add Wallace to your Fantasy roster.
News: Quarterback Seneca Wallace and tight end Evan Moore were among the latest cuts by the Cleveland Browns on Friday as they prepare for the regular season, The Associated Press reports. Wallace's release means former starter Colt McCoy secured the backup quarterback job behind rookie Brandon Weeden.
Analysis: Wallace spent two seasons with the Browns, who acquired him in a 2011 trade from Seattle, and started three games last year with McCoy sidelined. Overall, the 31-year-old started seven games for Cleveland but he should remain on waivers in all Fantasy formats at this point.
News: Browns coach Pat Shurmur named Brandon Weeden the team's starting quarterback Monday. Weeden, the team's first-round draft pick, beat out Colt McCoy and Seneca Wallace for the job in less than two weeks of training camp. He had emerged recently as the Browns' best quarterback according to multiple reports.
Analysis: Wallace wasn't considered to be a legitimate competitor for the starting job once it was clear Weeden had the arm and smarts to compete. He'll battle Colt McCoy for the backup job. Keep him off of Fantasy rosters.
News: Browns quarterback Seneca Wallace said he wouldn't be comfortable as the third passer behind Brandon Weeden and Colt McCoy minutes after coach Pat Shurmur said all three could remain on the roster. "You guys know that the third quarterback doesn't dress on Sundays," Wallace said.
Analysis: Weeden is expected to start for the Browns this year, and McCoy should be No. 2. We'll be interested to see if Wallace would request his release if he could not be traded. No matter what happens with Wallace, however, he has minimal Fantasy value and should not be drafted in any leagues.
News: Cleveland QB Seneca Wallace will make his third consecutive start in Week 17 against Pittsburgh after the Browns ruled Colt McCoy (head) out for the game. After dealing with DB Ed Reed in a loss to Baltimore last week, Wallace will now face another imposing safety in Steelers counterpart Troy Polamalu. "Both teams give them the liberty and freedom to run around and make plays," Wallace said. "The quarterback must be smart and aware of where they are at all times. They're ball hawks and great tacklers as well."
Analysis: Wallace has been decent in his two spot starts and completed at least 57 percent of his passes in each game -- both losses. The 31-year-old has recorded two touchdown passes and an interception while also contributing to the team's running game with his mobility out of the pocket. The Steelers represent another tough matchup and are permitting an average of 11.2 Fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks this season. Wallace is not a recommended Fantasy option for Week 17.
News: Browns QB Seneca Wallace started for a second straight game Week 16 against the Ravens for the injured Colt McCoy (concussion). And much like the result in Week 15, Wallace couldn't lead Cleveland to a win. Wallace completed 19 of 33 passes for one touchdown and one interception in a 20-14 loss. Wallace's touchdown pass went for 6 yards to Evan Moore in the fourth quarter.
Analysis: Wallace has just two touchdown passes in his two starts and has been unspectacular much like McCoy. Wallace is likely to start the regular-season finale in Week 17 against the Steelers, unless McCoy recovers from his concussion. Wallace is not a recommended Fantasy start if he is back under center.
News: Browns coach Pat Shurmur said QB Seneca Wallace would start a second straight game Week 16 against the Ravens after ruling out QB Colt McCoy (concussion) on Thursday. Wallace will now face a Ravens defense yielding just 217.9 yards and 9.43 Fantasy points per week to QBs, which is the lowest average in the NFL. No QB has thrown for more than one touchdown against Baltimore this season and no QB has had more than 18 Fantasy points against the Ravens.
Analysis: McCoy didn't do Wallace any favors by sitting out Week 16. Sure, Wallace gets to start, but it is not a favorable matchup and he is likely to be pressured all game. Wallace has completed 61.8 percent of his passes for 919 yards and five touchdowns in five starts since 2010 with the Browns, but he is definitely a desperation Fantasy start Week 16.
News: Cleveland coach Pat Shurmur said Tuesday that QB Colt McCoy (head) has not been cleared to practice and backup QB Seneca Wallace will "most likely" start in Week 16 at Baltimore. Wallace filled in for McCoy last Sunday against Arizona and passed for 226 yards and a touchdown. He completed 58.1 percent of his attempts -- better than McCoy produced in his last three games -- and did not throw an interception.
Analysis: Wallace draws a tough matchup for his second start as the Ravens are permitting just 197.9 passing yards per game this season. He is clearly a more mobile quarterback than McCoy and rushed for 21 yards, including a long gain of 15 yards, in a loss to the Cardinals. He will likely be scrambling against a quick Baltimore defense that is allowing an average of 9.4 Fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season -- the fewest total in the NFL. Fantasy owners should not consider Wallace a worthwhile QB option for Week 16.
News: Browns QB Seneca Wallace looked like a backup quarterback in the NFL on Sunday against the Cardinals for most of the game. Then late in the third quarter he scrambled and found Greg Little for a 76-yard catch-and-run to extend the Browns' lead. Wallace made some plays for his team by scrambling and making something happen. The Cardinals would end up sacking him on back-to-back plays in the fourth quarter, the second leading to a fumble after Arizona challenged the call and the referee's decided Wallace did in fact fumble the ball. Wallace finished the game with 226 passing yards and 21 rushing yards on three carries. Despite his efforts, Cleveland would lose to Arizona 20-17 in overtime.
Analysis: Wallace got the start in place of the injured Colt McCoy. While it is uncertain if McCoy will be able to return next weekend in Baltimore, Fantasy owners should not plan on starting Wallace regardless.
News: Browns QB Seneca Wallace will make his 19th NFL start Week 15 at Arizona after starting QB Colt McCoy was ruled out with a concussion. Arizona ranks 23rd in the league in pass defense, giving up nearly 243 yards per game, and have allowed an average of 16.5 Fantasy points per week to QBs.
Analysis: Wallace started four games for the Browns last year, but he hasn't started a game yet for first-year coach Pat Shurmur. Wallace has never been great when he started and we aren't expecting great numbers against Arizona. Wallace is just a desperation Fantasy start.
News: With Colt McCoy recovering from a concussion, QB Seneca Wallace is expected to get the start for the Browns in Week 15 against the Cardinals. Arizona ranks 23rd in the league in pass defense, giving up nearly 243 yards per game, and have allowed an average of 16.5 Fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks.
Analysis: Wallace has completed both of his passing attempts so far this season for 17 yards and appears to be in line to earn his first start on Sunday. The Browns will likely not push McCoy with his concussion and since they are out of the playoff picture, the veteran should end up starting down the stretch. Keep an eye on the situation going forward but given his track record, continue to ignore Wallace in all but the deepest of Fantasy leagues for Week 15.
News: Browns backup QB Seneca Wallace took two snaps in place of Colt McCoy on Thursday night against the Steelers. McCoy took a hard shot to the head and had to leave the game briefly. He completed his only pass of the game for 13 yards.
Analysis: Wallace is merely the backup quarterback on a struggling team. He is not worth owning in any Fantasy format heading into Week 15 versus the Cardinals.
News: Playing in his first game of the 2011 season, Browns QB Seneca Wallace took part in a successful pass completion, but on the receiving end. He caught a 21-yard pass from QB Colt McCoy out of the Wildcat formation during a Week 10 loss to the Rams. The reception got the Browns into field goal position, and Phil Dawson converted a 32-yard field goal four plays later.
Analysis: Wallace made a small Fantasy contribution, albeit as part of a gimmick play. This was more of a cameo appearance for Wallace, and Fantasy owners should not expect him to make a Fantasy impact going forward this season, so he can be ignored in all leagues.
News: The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Browns QB Seneca Wallace hopes to compete with Colt McCoy for the starting job in 2011. "You have to [have that fire]," Wallace said. "That doesn't go away. That's why I've been playing nine years now and I'm never going to give that up. I still want the opportunity to go out and be able to play myself, so I'm not just going to sit back and watch. I'd rather go out there and play." Wallace, who signed a three-year deal worth $9 million plus incentives, isn't conceding anything. He has spent seven seasons in this West Coast offense under then-Seahawks coach and current Browns President Mike Holmgren and knows it inside and out. "It's great to know that you're going into a situation where you've already got the upper hand on a lot of that stuff," Wallace said. "The terminology is very similar to what I'm used to and that's one of the biggest things." Wallace, 31, said half-jokingly that he won't let McCoy in on all of his West Coast secrets. "Yeah, I can't disclose everything to him," he said. "I'm still trying to go out there and play for my position, you know? But I'm not going to hold everything back from him. If there's something he wants to know about the offense, I'd definitely be willing to try to share and help him out as best I can."
Analysis: Wallace will likely be the No. 2 QB for the Browns behind McCoy. He might get on the field at times in some Wildcat situations, but Wallace has minimal Fantasy value. Ignore him in all leagues on Draft Day.
News: Cleveland QB Seneca Wallace agreed to terms on a new contract with the Browns, a person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press on Thursday night. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the team has not yet announced the deal. The career NFL backup was 1-3 after replacing starter Jake Delhomme, who injured his ankle in the season opener. Wallace was then sidelined after a similar ankle injury on Oct. 10.
Analysis: Wallace recently said he wanted to compete for a starting job, and when the Browns indicated that Colt McCoy will likely be their No. 1 QB next season, it was assumed Wallace would sign elsewhere. But he's familiar with West Coast offense new Cleveland coach Pat Shurmur plans to install, and the Browns wanted him back. He has no Fantasy value unless McCoy suffers an injury and should not be considered an option in 2011 drafts.
News: Browns QB Seneca Wallace (ankle) was activated for Week 10 against the Jets, but was listed as the team's backup behind Colt McCoy. Wallace had been listed as questionable on the injury report.
Analysis: While it's nice to see Wallace getting healthy again, he will sit in favor of McCoy, who helped Cleveland pick up a huge win over the Patriots in Week 9. Wallace is only worth stashing away in very deep Fantasy formats until this Browns QB situation clears up.
News: Browns QB Seneca Wallace (ankle) was limited at practice for a third straight day Friday and is listed as questionable for Week 10 vs. the Jets. Coach Eric Mangini confirmed that Wallace has a strong possibility to be active on Sunday. Rookie Colt McCoy continues to receive the bulk of the reps and will start.
Analysis: While it's nice to see Wallace getting healthy again, even if he is good to go in Week 10, he will sit in favor of McCoy, who helped Cleveland pick up a huge win over the Patriots in Week 9. Wallace is only worth stashing away in very deep Fantasy formats until this Browns QB situation clears up.
News: Browns QB Seneca Wallace returned to practice Wednesday on a limited basis for the first time since sustaining a high ankle sprain in Week 5. Cleveland hosts the Jets in Week 10.
Analysis: While it's nice to see Wallace getting healthy again, even if he is good to go in Week 10, he might sit in favor of Colt McCoy, who helped Cleveland pick up a huge win over the Patriots in Week 9. Wallace is only worth stashing away in very deep Fantasy formats until this Browns QB situation clears up.
News: Browns coach Eric Mangini said Monday that QB Seneca Wallace (ankle) will probably return to practice on Wednesday and fellow QB Jake Delhomme (ankle) could be back as early as Thursday. Wallace has not played since Week 5.
Analysis: Wallace started four games for the Browns after Delhomme went down and appears to be head of him in terms of rehabbing from his ankle injury. Colt McCoy has done a decent job filling in for the two so Fantasy owners should keep an eye on the quarterback situation in Cleveland to see who will be the starter in Week 10 against the Jets. If Wallace is able to play Sunday, he will be a viable option in deeper Fantasy formats that use two QBs.
News: The Browns listed QB Seneca Wallace (ankle) as inactive for Week 9 against the Patriots.
Analysis: Wallace is reportedly ahead of Jake Delhomme as they both recover from ankle injuries, but Colt McCoy will start again in Week 9. Wallace will likely supplant McCoy as starter once he's healthy, so continue to stash him away in deeper Fantasy formats that use two QBs.
News: Browns QB Seneca Wallace remained unable to practice Friday and will be questionable for Week 9 vs. New England. He will likely back up Colt McCoy if his ankle is better.
Analysis: Wallace is reportedly ahead of Jake Delhomme as they both recover from ankle injuries, but McCoy will start again in Week 9. Wallace will likely supplant McCoy as starter once he's healthy, so continue to stash him away in deeper Fantasy formats that use two QBs.
News: Browns QB Seneca Wallace (ankle) remained sidelined Wednesday as Cleveland, who are coming off a bye, began practice for its Week 9 contest against the Patriots.
Analysis: Wallace is reportedly ahead of Jake Delhomme as they both recover from ankle injuries, but all signs are pointing to Colt McCoy starting again in Week 9. Wallace will likely supplant McCoy as starter once he's healthy, so continue to stash him away in deeper Fantasy formats that use two QBs.
News: The Browns could be headed for a QB controversy in Week 9 against New England. Colt McCoy has started the past two games against Pittsburgh and New Orleans, and Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace remain out with ankle injuries Monday. Coach Eric Mangini said Wallace is closer to returning. Wallace could practice as early as Wednesday, and Wallace would like to return as the starter. "It comes down to a coach's decision," Wallace said. "If you're playing well, it shouldn't be a problem to come back and be the guy." Wallace (ankle) could be ready to play Sunday. Coach Eric Mangini reiterated that he will start the QB he believes gives his team the best chance to win Sunday against New England. Though Delhomme (ankle) is getting healthier, the choice will likely be Wallace or McCoy. "We'll play who gives us the best chance to win," Mangini said. "That's something we owe the players, ourselves and the fans. We wont (be) in a developmental-type mode. Mangini said placing Delhomme on IR hasn't been discussed. Hes progressing, Mangini said. There have been no setbacks in the thought process of him not being able to play.
Analysis: We expect McCoy to start for the Browns in Week 9 against the Patriots since he is coming off a win against the Saints in Week 7 prior to the bye week and played well against the Steelers. Still, continue to monitor what develops in case Wallace gets the job back. If Wallace is the starter he would be nothing more than a low-end No. 2 Fantasy option in all leagues.
News: Browns QB Seneca Wallace, who suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 5, is inactive for a second straight game Week 7 at New Orleans. With Jake Delhomme inactive with a high ankle sprain of his own, third-stringer Colt McCoy will make his second straight start.
Analysis: Wallace wasn't the most efficient passer when he started four games in a row in place of Delhomme, but he didn't make many mistakes either. McCoy played well last week, so Wallace won't necessarily be the starter when he's ready to return. The Browns have a bye in Week 8, but you can leave him on waivers for Week 9 against the Patriots.
News: Browns QB Seneca Wallace has been downgraded from doubtful to out for the Week 7 game at New Orleans. Colt McCoy was expected to be the starter on Sunday throughout the week.
Analysis: The Browns QB situation is a mess right now, so even if Wallace does get some PT down the stretch, we doubt he will have much Fantasy appeal. Leave him on waivers if you need the roster spot.
News: Browns QBs Seneca Wallace and Jake Delhomme are expected to remain out for Week 7 against the Saints with high ankle sprains. Coach Eric Mangini said Wallace is closer to returning, but it appears both will be sidelined Sunday. Colt McCoy will again start. Both Wallace and Delhomme are listed as doubtful.
Analysis: If Wallace does get back before Delhomme, then he has a chance to start again for the Browns. But it all depends on how well McCoy does in their absence as well. The Browns QB situation is a mess right now, so even if Wallace does get some PT down the stretch, we doubt he will have much Fantasy appeal. Leave him on waivers if you need the roster spot.
News: Browns QB Seneca Wallace (ankle) was unable to practice again Thursday as Cleveland continued preparations for its Week 7 game at New Orleans. Rookie Colt McCoy is expected to start on Sunday against the Saints.
Analysis: Wallace was playing reasonably well in place of Jake Delhomme before he got hurt, throwing four touchdowns and two interceptions, but then Wallace suffered the same fate as Delhomme in Week 5. After sitting out last weekend, the mobile veteran might well miss another game in Week 7 with this problem, so don't worry about him in Fantasy play for now.

News: QB Seneca Wallace was among the Browns' inactives for Week 6 at Pittsburgh. He missed practice for the entire week due to a high ankle sprain. Rookie Colt McCoy will be the starting QB, making his NFL debut.
Analysis: Wallace was not expected to start, given that he was lifted from Week 5's game against Atlanta with the injury and that he missed practice all week. Even when healthy, Wallace is not a viable Fantasy option in the vast majority of leagues.
News: Multiple sources are reporting Browns QB Seneca Wallace has been downgraded from doubtful to out against the Steelers in Week 6. He missed practice all week with a high ankle sprain. Browns top QB Jake Delhomme missed three games with the same injury. Rookie QB Colt McCoy should start and make his NFL debut against the Steelers.
Analysis: The downgrade comes as no surprise after Wallace left the Week 5 game against the Falcons. When healthy, Wallace is a barely-viable Fantasy option.
News: Browns QB Seneca Wallace missed practice all week with a high ankle sprain. He was even wearing ab bulky walking boot on Thursday, but he didn't rule himself out for Week 6 at Pittsburgh despite being listed as doubtful. Browns top QB Jake Delhomme missed three games with the same injury. Rookie QB Colt McCoy should start and make his NFL debut against the Steelers.
Analysis: The chances of him playing in Week 6 at Pittsburgh appear to be very slim at this point, so don't worry too much about his progress. When healthy, Wallace is a barely-viable Fantasy option.
News: Browns QB Seneca Wallace confirmed Thursday that he has a high ankle sprain. Wallace was wearing a walking boot and obviously didn't practice.
Analysis: Wallace played less than a half of Sunday's Week 5 loss to the Falcons, but was playing well before getting hurt. The chances of him playing in Week 6 at Pittsburgh appear to be very slim at this point, so don't worry too much about his progress. When healthy, Wallace is a barely-viable Fantasy option.
News: Browns QB Seneca Wallace did not practice Wednesday after suffering a high ankle sprain in Week 5. Starting QB Jake Delhomme (ankle) did also not practice. Rookie Colt McCoy is expected to start at QB for Cleveland on Sunday at Pittsburgh.
Analysis: Wallace played less than a half of Sunday's Week 5 loss to the Falcons, but was playing well before getting hurt. The chances of him playing in Week 6 at Pittsburgh appear to be slim at this point, so don't worry too much about his progress in Fantasy play. When healthy, Wallace is a barely-viable option.
News: Multiple reliable sources are reporting that Browns QB Seneca Wallace suffered a high-ankle sprain vs. the Falcons in Week 5. With Jake Delhomme also re-injuring his sprained ankle in the game, the Browns are likely to turn to Colt McCoy at quarterback on Sunday. The Browns also signed QB Brett Ratliff off the Patriots' practice squad Monday, hinting that Wallace's injury is significant.
Analysis: Wallace was never a grand Fantasy option to begin with, but even he'd be a better choice than McCoy, who struggled in the preseason and has never played an NFL game and probably has yet to take a rep with the starters in Cleveland. Anyway, Wallace shouldn't be on Fantasy owners while he's hobbled.
News: Browns QB Seneca Wallace, making his fourth straight start in place of Jake Delhomme, who is battling a high ankle sprain, suffered an ankle injury of his own just before halftime Week 5 against the Falcons. He was having his best game of the season before leaving, completing 11 of 15 passes for 139 yards and a touchdown. Delhomme, who was activated for the game even though he didn't start, took Wallace's place under center and finished out the game, throwing two interceptions.
Analysis: Coach Eric Mangini said he considered bringing Wallace back in when it became clear that Delhomme was still greatly limited. "We talked about it a little, but Jake was a better option," Mangini said. Delhomme's struggles give Wallace a chance of starting Week 6 at Pittsburgh, though he was reportedly limping in the locker room after the game. As a dink-and-dunk passer on a bad offensive team, he's no more than a last resort in Fantasy even when starting -- and that goes double this week.
News: Browns QB Seneca Wallace will make his fourth straight start Week 5 against the Falcons. Jake Delhomme, who has been out since the opener with a high ankle sprain, is active, but he'll serve as the backup.
Analysis: Wallace is a dink-and-dunk passer on a bad offensive team, so you shouldn't be too excited about him getting another start. Then again, Delhomme would be nothing more than a last resort in Fantasy himself. Delhomme was still limited by the injury in practice this week, so the Browns weren't comfortable with the idea of him starting. That could change Week 6 at Pittsburgh, however.
News: According to FoxSports.com, Browns QB Seneca Wallace will make his fourth straight start Week 5 against the Falcons. Jake Delhomme, who has been out since the opener with a high ankle sprain, is healthy enough for a backup role, but nothing more.
Analysis: We can't confirm this report until the official inactives list comes out, but considering Wallace is a dink-and-dunk passer on a bad offensive team, you shouldn't be too excited about him starting anyway. Delhomme was able to practice in a limited capacity this week, so even if he doesn't return against the Falcons, he'll likely return soon.
News: Browns QB Jake Delhomme was back at practice Wednesday, albeit on a limited basis, sharing first-team reps with Seneca Wallace. It appears that Delhomme will start vs. Atlanta in Week 5 if he doesn't suffer a setback in practice.
Analysis: Wallace was a serviceable replacement for the Browns, but 98 percent of CBSSports.com owners kept him on the waiver wire. Don't count on him for Fantasy help going forward, especially if Delhomme returns.
News: Quarterback Seneca Wallace made his third straight start in place of the injured Jake Delhomme and went 18 of 30 for 184 yards and threw a 24-yard TD pass to Evan Moore. He also had an interception and 5 rush yards. Wallace enjoyed some really solid pass protection from his offensive line and did a nice job targeting his short-area receivers, particularly his tight ends and receiver Chansi Stuckey.
Analysis: Wallace did about as well as anyone would have expected him to do here against a pretty solid Cincinnati defense. There's no word on whether he will start next week vs. the Falcons, a team that Delhomme is familiar with from his days in Carolina. But even if he does, he's nothing more than a low-end option for Fantasy purposes.
News: Browns QB Jake Delhomme (ankle) was listed as inactive for Week 4 against Cincinnati. Considered a game-time decision, Delhomme was scratched for a third straight game. Seneca Wallace was given the start in his absence.
Analysis: Wallace will be just a low-end No. 2 Fantasy QB in the majority of leagues now that he has been listed as the starter. He has a tough matchup with Cincinnati since the Bengals are No. 11 in pass defense. Avoid starting him outside of desperate situations in deeper formats.
News:Jake Delhomme, who missed the past two games with a badly sprained right ankle, practiced for the second straight day on Friday, but it's still not certain if he'll play when the Browns host the Cincinnati Bengals this week. On their final injury report of the week, the Browns listed Delhomme as questionable - 50 percent chance of playing - for Sunday. Coach Eric Mangini will wait to see how Delhomme's ankle responds after a second practice and treatment before deciding upon a starter between Delhomme and Seneca Wallace.
Analysis: Whoever starts for the Browns is nothing more than an emergency low-end No. 2 Fantasy bye-week replacement for Week 4 against the Bengals, who have been pretty stingy against the pass this season (ranked 11th). No one should be relying on either guy in Fantasy play.
News: Browns QB Jake Delhomme (ankle) returned to practice Thursday, but on a limited basis. Coach Eric Mangini said Delhomme will resume his role as the starting QB once he's healthy, but that Delhomme's status for Week 4 against the Bengals is still up in the air. Delhomme said he needed to test his ankle before he would know if he can play. It's possible he could be listed as Cleveland's No. 2 quarterback against the Bengals behind starter Seneca Wallace. "He's our starting quarterback," Mangini said. "So when he's ready to start, he'll start."
Analysis: We expect Wallace to start against the Bengals, but he's just a low-end No. 2 Fantasy QB in the majority of leagues. He has a tough matchup with Cincinnati since the Bengals are No. 11 in pass defense. Don't plan on starting Wallace in the majority of leagues even if he remains the starter ahead of Delhomme.
News: Cleveland QB Seneca Wallace did an admirable, if underwhelming, job in place of injured starter Jake Delhomme Week 3 in Baltimore. Wallace and the Browns still lost to fall to 0-3 on the season but Wallace only saw six passes fall incomplete in the game. He went 18 for 24 for 141 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions or fumbles lost. Wallace, however, had three fewer passing yards than Peyton Hillis had rushing yards with 144. Wallace also rushed once for 0 yards. He had a passer rating of 103 in the game.
Analysis: Wallace went 16 for 31 for 229 yards and a touchdown with an interception Week 2 against the Chiefs. He actually led his team better Week 3 against a much tougher defense on the road. That said, it seems like Delhomme could be back in the saddle for Week 4 at home against the Bengals. Stay tuned for news on that, but both will be considered just low-end Fantasy options for the Week 4 game.
News: Cleveland QB Seneca Wallace will start Week 3 in Baltimore with Jake Delhomme being inactive once again. Wallace went 16 for 31 Week 2 against the Chiefs while starting for Delhomme. He threw for 229 yards with a touchdown and one interception.
Analysis: Wallace is facing the team allowing the fewest average Fantasy points per week to quarterbacks in Week 3. Quarterbacks have gone a combined 26 for 56 against the Ravens this season for just 241 yards and no touchdowns. Wallace is not a recommended Fantasy start for Week 3.
News: Cleveland QB Seneca Wallace could get another start Week 3 in Baltimore. Starter Jake Delhomme may miss his second straight start, reports the Canton Repository on Monday. Delhomme is improving according to coach Eric Mangini but has spent a week in an ankle boot, indicating the quarterback is suffering from a high ankle sprain. If he cannot start, Wallace will get the nod. There should be no quarterback controversy, however. If Delhomme is healthy, he will be the starter.
Analysis: Wallace might be hoping Delhomme is healthy enough to start the Week 3 game. The Browns, who have struggled throwing the ball against mediocre teams this season, will be facing the team allowing the fewest average Fantasy points per week to quarterbacks. Quarterbacks have gone a combined 26 for 56 against the Ravens this season for just 241 yards and no touchdowns. Wallace went 16 of 31 for 229 yards with a touchdown and an interception Week 2 as the starter against the Chiefs. Not terrible production, the Ravens defense puts the Chiefs to shame. Wallace, if he even gets the start, would not really be recommended in Fantasy play for Week 3.
News: Cleveland QB Seneca Wallace started the Week 2 game against the Chiefs in place of Jake Delhomme, who injured his right ankle last week in his debut for the Browns (0-2), a 17-14 loss at Tampa Bay. Wallace finished 16 of 31 for 229 yards, but one of his attempts in the second quarter was run back for a TD by Brandon Flowers. "It was a bad, bad decision by me," Wallace said. "I'll take responsibility for that." Wallace, who only ran once for 4 yards, did throw a touchdown pass to Josh Cribbs in the second quarter. Cribbs made a nice over-the-shoulder catch on the play and took it 65 yards for the score in the second quarter.
Analysis: Wallace didn't really show any of that versatility that makes him dangerous against the Chiefs. Kansas City did a good job keeping him in check. The Browns play at Baltimore's vaunted defense in Week 3 and we don't believe either quarterback is going to do much in that game. Delhomme could return to action and, even if he doesn't, we would not recommend starting Wallace in any Fantasy leagues.
News: Browns QB Jake Delhomme, who had been listed as doubtful on the injury report for Week 2 due to an ankle injury, was officially listed among the inactives for the game. Seneca Wallace was listed as the starter in his place.
Analysis: Wallace's versatility and ability to extend plays will make him a threat to the Chiefs, but not to Fantasy owners. We wouldn't recommend him against Kansas City even though its defense allowed San Diego to throw for nearly 300 yards on Monday night. Unless you're desperate, head in another direction at quarterback.
News:Jake Delhomme did not practice for the third straight day on Friday because of an ankle injury, increasing the likelihood that backup Seneca Wallace will start Cleveland's home opener against Kansas City. Browns coach Eric Mangini did not name Wallace his Week 2 starter, but he seemed headed in that direction. "I just want to go through today and see where we are tomorrow morning," Mangini said before Friday's practice. "That being said, I feel real good about what Seneca's done all week. Not just me, it's the coaches, the players. We all feel good about him leading us as well."
Analysis: Wallace's versatility and ability to extend plays will make him a threat to the Chiefs, but not to Fantasy owners. We wouldn't recommend him against Kansas City even though its defense allowed San Diego to throw for nearly 300 yards on Monday night. Unless you're desperate, head in another direction at quarterback for Week 2.
News: On Monday, following his official debut with the Cleveland Browns, it was announced that QB Jake Delhomme injured his right ankle while throwing a pick late in the first half of Sunday's 17-14 loss at Tampa Bay. If Delhomme can't play in Week 2 against the Chiefs, he would be replaced by backup Seneca Wallace. Wallace came on to make a catch in Week 1 against the Buccaneers. He caught one pass for 9 yard
Analysis: Coach Eric Mangini said he never considered bringing in backup Seneca Wallace Sunday after Delhomme got hurt. While Wallace would be the logical choice to replace Delhomme should he be unable to play, he would not be a recommended option in Fantasy leagues.
News: Browns QB Seneca Wallace came on to make a catch in Week 1 against the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay. He caught one pass for 9 yards.
Analysis: Wallace is a backup QB for the Browns, but they'll look to get him into the game in different fashions. It isn't enough to consider him a viable Fantasy option, however, and he can remain on the waiver wire as long as he remains a backup.
News: Browns QB Seneca Wallace is clearly the No. 2 passer for Cleveland heading into 2010. He was 4 of 9 passing for 91 yards Saturday at Detroit in relief of starter Jake Delhomme, who has played well this preseason. Wallace also had one carry for 15 yards.
Analysis: The Browns will use Wallace in a variety of ways -- as a backup QB and Wildcat option. Still, unless Delhomme gets injured, Wallace won't have much Fantasy value in 2010. Ignore him in all leagues on Draft Day.
News: Browns coach Eric Mangini avoided Sunday stating whether backup QB Seneca Wallace will be given a chance to beat out Jake Delhomme, but he is impressed. "It's clicking," Mangini said. "Hes got a good arm and makes plays with his feet. Im encouraged."
Analysis: Unless Delhomme has an awful camp and Wallace looks like Peyton Manning, we expect the versatile Wallace to remain a backup QB heading into the season. Delhomme's declining game and fragile status might get Wallace under center during the season, but even then his upside will be limited since the Browns don't have a very good outlook on offense. Let Wallace go undrafted in Fantasy.
News: Browns coach Eric Mangini went on a radio show Monday morning and praised QB Jake Delhomme, who will enter training camp as the starter ahead of Seneca Wallace. "It's really Jake's job to lose, and he did a great job during OTAs," Mangini said on the Dan Patrick Radio Show. "I couldn't have been happier with him, not just in terms of the way he learned the information but the way he ran the offense." But Mangini said he's also impressed with Wallace, and he wants to make sure Wallace gets time working with the first-string offense during camp. "Seneca did a good job too," Mangini said. "I think it's important that Seneca gets some reps with the ones, so that if he goes in he does have some time with that group."
Analysis: Wallace will likely be used in special packages like the Wildcat or to give the offense a different look, but he has minimal Fantasy value this season. Ignore Wallace in all leagues on Draft Day since he will be the No. 2 QB in Cleveland behind Delhomme.
News: The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that new Browns QB Seneca Wallace had a tough time digesting the playbook this spring. Wallace is not only being asked to back up Jake Delhomme but also be the team's quarterback in the Wildcat formation, which the team is expected to utilize a few times per week.
Analysis: Wallace isn't expected to be a key cog in the Browns offense, and therefore shouldn't be a relevant Fantasy factor. Look his way off waivers, if at all, in 2010.
News: Browns QB Seneca Wallace is an unlikely starter with Jake Delhomme on the roster, but coach Eric Mangini speaks enthusiastically about what Wallace can bring to the team. "He puts a different pressure on defenses and flexibility to do things," Mangini said. Mangini added he's looking forward to using Wallace and all-purpose Josh Cribbs in the same backfield.
Analysis: Wallace has minimal Fantasy value and should be ignored in all leagues on Draft Day. Even if he gets on the field in special packages, he's not going to produce enough quality stats to help your Fantasy team unless he's the starting QB.
News: Browns coach Eric Mangini is already fond of new QB Jake Delhomme. "The things we heard about his leadership has shown up since we've been here," Mangini said Wednesday following OTA workouts. "He has great energy. He reminds me a little of (Brett) Favre that way. He enjoys practice, being around the guys." The Canton Repository reports Delhomme, who joined the Browns after being released by the Panthers, is expected to be the starter in Week 1 even if Mangini has said Seneca Wallace or even rookie Colt McCoy could win the job. WR Josh Cribbs said the same thing on NFL.com. "Jake Delhomme is our veteran quarterback," Cribbs said. "He's a guy that's going to usher in all the up-and-coming talent. Seneca Wallace will be a triple-threat, running, passing and Wildcat. He'll be the relief pitcher. Colt McCoy will be the future."
Analysis: Delhomme should be considered a low-end No. 2 Fantasy QB, and he's only worth drafting in deep formats. Wallace has minimal Fantasy value and should be ignored in all leagues on Draft Day. McCoy isn't worth drafting in the majority of seasonal leagues, but he has plenty of upside in keeper and rookie-only drafts. Those are really the only formats where McCoy should be taken on Draft Day unless he surprisingly is named the starter for this year, but that would mean that Delhomme completely fell apart in training camp, which isn't expected to happen.
News: The Canton Repository reports Browns QB Seneca Wallace will have a role on offense this year even if he doesn't beat out Jake Delhomme for the starting job. "Regardless of how it works, Seneca's going to have plays in there where he'll be involved," coach Eric Mangini said, adding that Wallace could line up with some trick plays with Josh Cribbs. Wallace will also attempt to challenge Delhomme for the starting spot, although it will likely be Delhomme's job to lose. "They're different types of quarterbacks," Mangini said. "Jake definitely has a larger body of work, although I've played against Seneca, and he was tough."
Analysis: Wallace is likely the No. 2 QB for Cleveland behind Delhomme, and even if Wallace plays in different packages, he still has minimal Fantasy value. Don't plan on drafting Wallace in the majority of leagues this year unless he somehow beats out Delhomme for the starting job in training camp. If that were to happen then Wallace would be a low-end No. 2 Fantasy QB in deeper leagues.
News: The Cleveland Plain-Dealer reports Browns president Mike Holmgren said he doesn't expect rookie QB Colt McCoy to play in 2010, but he wouldn't rule it out that he could be the starter either. "Heck, if he's the guy, he plays," Holmgren said. Browns coach Eric Mangini also did not completely rule out McCoy for 2010 during rookie camp. "Never say never and never say always," Mangini said. "You don't know." But Holmgren and Mangini have a plan in place for McCoy. They want to let McCoy watch how it's done behind projected starter Jake Delhomme and backup Seneca Wallace. Holmgren said he expects Delhomme will rebound from his poor 2009 season. "He had a horrible year last year by his own admission and I understand why, I believe, and I think he'll be fine," Holmgren said. "In fact, I think he'll help our team because he's a great leader."
Analysis: It sounds like unless McCoy is lights out in training camp and the preseason and Delhomme and Wallace fall on their face then McCoy will be the No. 3 QB for the Browns this year with Delhomme the starter. McCoy isn't worth drafting in the majority of seasonal leagues, but he has plenty of upside in keeper and rookie-only drafts. Those are really the only formats where McCoy should be taken on Draft Day unless he surprisingly is named the starter for this year. Delhomme should be considered a low-end No. 2 QB, and he's only worth drafting in deep formats. And Wallace has minimal Fantasy value and should be ignored in all leagues on Draft Day.
News: The Browns spent a third-round pick on Texas QB Colt McCoy in the 2010 NFL Draft, but the team insists he won't have much of a chance to trump Jake Delhomme or Seneca Wallace on the depth chart. "We have some other quarterbacks who've come in to do some other things," team President Mike Holmgren said. "Colt's one of four." Wallace joined the Browns this offseason via trade from the Seahawks.
Analysis: Delhomme will likely be the favorite to win the job over Wallace based on his experience, but Wallace also has the backing of Holmgren, who coached Wallace in Seattle. Holmgren previously said about Wallace: "[He] will come in and compete and you guys will like what you see. ... I think he is a potential starter." Fantasy owners aren't very excited over either QB, which means that whomever is named the starter between Delhomme and Wallace won't be any better than a low-end No. 2 option come Draft Day.
News: Browns coach Eric Mangini said in an interview with CBSSports.com at the NFL owner's meeting in Orlando, FL that he's impressed with QB Jake Delhomme, who signed with Cleveland last week after he was released from Carolina. Delhomme is expected to compete with Seneca Wallace for the starting job, but Mangini already likes what he's seen from Delhomme. "He has all the intangibles you look for in a quarterback," Mangini said. "I like his leadership. I like his presence in the locker room." Mangini also said he had no concern over Delhomme's age (35) or durability.
Analysis: Delhomme will likely be the favorite to win the job over Wallace based on his experience, but Wallace also has the backing of team president Mike Holmgren, who coached Wallace in Seattle.
News: Speaking to the media on Monday, Browns President Mike Holmgren announced that the Browns will have a "heck of a competition" for their starting quarterback job between newcomers Jake Delhomme, Seneca Wallace and anyone else the team acquires. Not ruling out drafting a quarterback, Holmgren reflected on the quarterback mistakes the franchise made in the past, but also is focused on the passers he has now. Holmgren on Delhomme: "This team needs an aging veteran who's going to grab everybody by the throat and say 'Follow me through that door.'" Holmgren on Wallace: "[He] will come in and compete and you guys will like what you see. ... I think he is a potential starter."
Analysis: Fantasy owners aren't very excited over either quarterback, which means that whomever is named the starter between Delhomme and Wallace won't be any better than a low-end No. 2 option come Draft Day -- and even that is flimsy since it seems like a longshot that the Browns will start the same quarterback for all 16 games. We'll keep you posted but don't expect the Browns' quarterbacks to be very productive.
News:Jake Delhomme has a new NFL home, and the Cleveland Browns have another new QB. Delhomme, released last week by the Carolina Panthers, has agreed to terms on a two-year deal with the Browns, whose quarterback position has been nothing short of a merry-go-round of players since the club returned as an expansion team 11 years ago. Cleveland has been busy trying to resolve a troublesome position. Earlier this week, the Browns acquired backup Seneca Wallace and released Derek Anderson, a one-time Pro Bowl selection who has s truggled in the past two seasons. They then traded Brady Quinn to the Broncos, and Delhomme now has a chance to remain a starter in 2010.
Analysis: Wallace and Delhomme will also likely get company with the Browns expected to address their QB spot in the draft, but Wallace has a chance to win the job this season based on his relationship with Mike Holmgren from their days in Seattle. Keep an eye on what happens this offseason, but even if Wallace is the starter he would be a No. 2 Fantasy QB at best. He's not worth drafting in the majority of leagues but could end up as a one-week replacement if he wins the job and starts out the season playing well.
News: The Seattle Seahawks traded backup quarterback Seneca Wallace to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a 2011 undisclosed draft pick. Wallace's best season was 2008 when he started eight games in now-Browns President Mike Holmgren's last season and threw for 1,532 yards and 11 touchdowns. Wallace started two games last season while starter Matt Hasselbeck was injured. "This will give Seneca a chance for a fresh start," Seattle GM John Schneider said in a statement. "The Browns front office's familiarity with his abilities will give him an opportunity to compete for playing time. We wish him nothing but the best."
Analysis: Wallace is expected to be a backup to whomever the starter for the Browns ends up being in 2010. He's not worth drafting in Fantasy.
News: Seahawks backup QB Seneca Wallace got an opportunity to throw a pass Week 17 against the Titans, completing a 17-yarder to T.J. Houshmandzadeh.
Analysis: Wallace unique skill set lets him play a few snaps each game, which is unusual for a backup quarterback. He is strictly a backup, though, which means you wouldn't want to draft him in 2010.
News: Seattle RB Owen Schmitt and backup QB Seneca Wallace did not pick up any stats in the Week 15 loss to Tampa Bay.
Analysis: Neither of these players does enough statistically to matter in Fantasy. Leave them on waivers in Week 16 at Green Bay.
News: Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace filled in temporarily for Matt Hasselbeck (shoulder) in a Week 14 loss to the Texans. Wallace failed in his one passing attempt and ran twice for minus-5 yards.
Analysis: The Seahawks sometimes use Wallace in special packages, but he's still just a backup quarterback not worth using in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers for Week 15 vs. Tampa Bay.
News: Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace got a rare opportunity to throw a pass Week 13 against the 49ers. He completed it for 7 yards.
Analysis: The Seahawks sometimes use Wallace in special packages, but he's still just a backup quarterback not worth using in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers for Week 14 at Houston.
News: Seahawks WR Deon Butler, QB Seneca Wallace, RB Louis Rankin and WR Ben Obomanu all dressed in a Week 12 win over the Rams but failed to record an offensive stat.
Analysis: None of these players are worth using in most Fantasy leagues. Ignore them in Week 13 vs. San Francisco.
News: The Seahawks tried using Seneca Wallace a few times at the Vikings in Week 11, including on the first play, but he didn't complete a pass. He also lost 9 yards on a carry.
Analysis: Wallace doesn't post enough stats while Matt Hasselbeck is active. Keep him off of Fantasy rosters.
News: Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace completed his only pass attempt for 16 yards during a Week 10 win against the Cardinals. Wallace attempted the pass from the Wildcat formation. He also had one reception for 5 yards.
Analysis: Wallace is such a good athlete that Seattle is trying to find ways to work him into the offense when Matt Hasselbeck is healthy. Still, Wallace will only be worth using in Fantasy when he is the full-time starter under center. It's safe to ignore Wallace heading into Week 11 against the Vikings.
News: Seattle QB Seneca Wallace got one pass attempt on Sunday in a Week 9 win over Detroit, coming on a reverse play. He completed the pass and was credited with 15 yards.
Analysis: Wallace got a few starts when Matt Hasselbeck was down with a rib injury but doesn't need to be owned unless he again gets a chance to start.
News: Seahawks WR Deon Butler, FB Owen Schmitt, TE John Owens, WR Ben Obomanu and QB Seneca Wallace all dressed but failed to record an offensive stat in Week 8 at Dallas.
Analysis: None of these players are worth using in most Fantasy leagues. Ignore them in Week 9 against Detroit.
News: Seahawks RB Justin Griffith, WR Deon Butler, RB Owen Schmitt, TE John Owens, WR Ben Obomanu and QB Seneca Wallace all dressed but failed to record an offensive stat in Week 6 against Arizona.
Analysis: Most of these players are reserves or special teams contributors for the Seahawks. They don't do enough on a weekly basis to warrant use in most Fantasy formats. The Seahawks are on a bye in Week 7 before returning to action Week 8 against Dallas.
News: Seattle QB Seneca Wallace came on in relief of Matt Hasselbeck Week 5 against Jaguars in a 41-0 win. Wallace didn't attempt a pass and lost 3 yards on three runs.
Analysis: Hasselbeck went off against the Jaguars in his return as the team's starter, making Wallace again a Fantasy option not worth owning in any format. Unless Hasselbeck gets hurt again, Wallace does not need to be owned.
News: Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck was not placed on the inactive report Week 5 and will start against the Jaguars. It will be his first game since he broke a rib on a dive for the goal line Sept. 20 at San Francisco. Seattle has lost three straight and the quarterback says it's time for all players to sacrifice in an effort to save the season. In his case that means cutting short recovery time and playing at less than full health.
Analysis: Hasselbeck is safe to have in your starting lineup, and he has the chance to play well. The Jaguars are 31st in pass defense, so consider Hasselbeck a good Fantasy option. Seneca Wallace will return to the No. 2 role in Seattle with Hasselbeck returning. Expect a nice stat line from Hasselbeck in Week 5.
News:Matt Hasselbeck has gone from excruciating pain to probable in four days. Seahawks coach Jim Mora said after Hasselbeck completed his third consecutive practice Friday that he expects his three-time Pro Bowl passer to start Sunday against Jacksonville. It will be his first game since he broke a rib on a dive for the goal line Sept. 20 at San Francisco. Seattle has lost three straight and the quarterback says it's time for all players to sacrifice in an effort to save the season. In his case that means cutting short recovery time and playing at less than full health.
Analysis: It appears safe to get Hasselbeck back in your starting lineup, and he has the chance to play well. The Jaguars are 31st in pass defense, so consider Hasselbeck a good Fantasy option. Seneca Wallace will return to the No. 2 role in Seattle with Hasselbeck returning. Expect a nice stat line from Hasselbeck in Week 5.
News: All signs are pointing toward Matt Hasselbeck returning to quarterback the reeling Seahawks on Sunday against Jacksonville. The three-time Pro Bowl passer looked sharp while completing a second consecutive practice Thursday. It's his first work since he broke a rib Sept. 20 on a goal line dive at San Francisco. Top receiver Nate Burleson says he expects Hasselbeck to be throwing to him Sunday. Burleson cites Hasselbeck dramatically increasing his repetitions with the first-team offense Thursday plus the fact he had zip on his deep throws.
Analysis: It appears safe to get Hasselbeck back in your starting lineup, and he has the chance to play well in Week 5. The Jaguars are No. 31 in pass defense, so consider Hasselbeck a good Fantasy option. Seneca Wallace would return to the No. 2 role in Seattle if Hasselbeck returns as the starter.
News:Matt Hasselbeck has made it through his first Seahawks practice with a broken rib. Playing in Sunday's game against Jacksonville remains another matter. The three-time Pro Bowl passer gave a tepid "OK" assessment of Wednesday's practice, his first on-field work since he got hurt in Week 2 at San Francisco. He says he will do all he can on the field through Friday, and will then let coaches and doctors decide if he's able to return. Offensive coordinator Greg Knapp said Hasselbeck looked a little bit out of football shape but that his energy was excellent and his throwing motion was fine. Seneca Wallace would make his third consecutive start if Hasselbeck can't play. Wallace and Hasselbeck split reps on Wednesday.
Analysis: With the Jaguars and their suspect pass defense coming to town, this could be a good matchup for whoever is under center for Seattle. We'll keep you posted on the latest in Seattle, but for now consider the starter to be a No. 2 Fantasy QB for the game. If Hasselbeck practices all week, he should be in line to start.
News: Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace completed 33 of 45 passes for 257 yards and a touchdown in a Week 4 loss to the Colts. He also ran four times for eight yards and fumbled twice.
Analysis: Wallace has now thrown 89 times in his two starts since Matt Hasselbeck got hurt, which isn't exactly the Seahawks' recipe for success. Hasselbeck might be back in Week 5 vs. Jacksonville, so Wallace should continue to be ignored in most Fantasy formats.
News: The NFL Network is reporting Sunday that Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck (ribs) has been officially ruled out at Indianapolis. Hasselbeck was also out for Week 3 against Chicago.
Analysis: Keep Hasselbeck reserved against the Colts. Seneca Wallace will start in Week 4, and hopefully Hasselbeck can return at 100 percent soon.
News: The Seahawks listed quarterback Matt Hasselbeck as doubtful for their Week 4 game at Indianapolis, making Seneca Wallace the team's quarterback for the game. Wallace will face a stiff Colts pass defense that has allowed one touchdown pass in nine regular-season games at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Analysis: Wallace is still no better than a low-end option to replace Hasselbeck in lineups as fellow No. 2 Fantasy QBs like Jason Campbell, Kerry Collins, David Garrard and Shaun Hill all have favorable matchups this week. Even second-year passer Chad Henne seems like a better choice. We like all of those guys more than Wallace, who will face one of the league's most solid pass defenses in the Colts.
News: The Seahawks are planning to be without quarterback Matt Hasselbeck again on Sunday. Coach Jim Mora said Wednesday he does not expect his three-time Pro Bowl passer to play at the undefeated Indianapolis Colts in Week 4. The 34-year-old Hasselbeck, who broke a rib 10 days ago, still can't run and still has pain when he takes a deep breath. Seneca Wallace is expected to start in his place.
Analysis: Hasselbeck's Fantasy owners should continue to leave him benched until he comes back and proves he is healthy. Wallace is still no better than a low-end option to replace him in lineups as fellow No. 2 Fantasy QBs like Jason Campbell, Kerry Collins, David Garrard and Shaun Hill all have favorable matchups this week. We like all of those guys more than Wallace, who will face one of the league's most solid pass defenses in the Colts.
News: Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace completed 26 of 44 passes for 261 yards during a Week 3 loss to the Bears. Seattle (1-2), playing without seven injured starters, drove to the Bears 29 with 30 seconds left. But Wallace, starting because quarterback Matt Hasselbeck was out with a broken rib, threw high and incomplete to Julius Jones on fourth-and-2 to seal the win for the Bears (2-1). Wallace -- who set career highs in completions, attempts and yards -- threw a 39-yard touchdown to Julius Jones in the first quarter and also had an interception.
Analysis: Wallace has logged 13 starts in his NFL career because Hasselbeck has been banged up at times. But he has primarily been a backup QB. Wallace will have some good games every now-and-then when he starts, but he is pretty much a desperation Fantasy QB. He will keep that same value heading into Week 4 against the Colts, if he has to start again.
News: As expected, Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck (rib) is inactive for Week 3 vs. Chicago and QB Seneca Wallace will be starting in his place. Hasselbeck did not participate in practice all week after suffering the rib injury in Week 2 and was doubtful on the injury report.
Analysis: We were fully expecting Hasselbeck to sit out Week 3, so make sure to keep him planted on your Fantasy bench. Keep tabs on his status leading up to Week 4. As for Wallace, the Bears have a top 10 pass defense, so he remains a desperation Fantasy start.
News: The Seahawks have listed QB Matt Hasselbeck as doubtful for Week 3 vs. Chicago after he failed to practice this week. Hasselbeck fractured a rib in Week 2 at San Francisco. With him being listed as doubtful and unlikely to play, Seneca Wallace is expected to start and play in his place.
Analysis: This was expected all along as Hasselbeck was in a hospital following the injury and didn't work with the team at all this week. Hasselbeck should be benched in all leagues while Wallace serves as no better than a desperation option for owners off waivers.
News: Seattle QB Matt Hasselbeck did not participate in practice Thursday. Hasselbeck has a cracked rib and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Chicago. He was injured in Week 2 at San Francisco.
Analysis: Keep an eye on what happens with Hasselbeck at Friday's practice, and that will likely determine his status for Sunday's game against the Bears. We don't expect Hasselbeck to play, which will allow Seneca Wallace to start. Plan on sitting Hasselbeck in all leagues, and Wallace should only be considered an emergency starter in deep formats.
News:Matt Hasselbeck is watching practice on Wednesday, yet the Seahawks are not ruling their quarterback out of Sunday's game against Chicago. Seattle coach Jim Mora said that Hasselbeck may not practice Thursday, either, because of a broken rib suffered last week at San Francisco. Mora said even if Hasselbeck doesn't practice all week, the three-time Pro Bowler will play if he and team doctors say he can. Hasselbeck said Monday he plans to work through the pain; Seneca Wallace took the first-team snaps in his place.
Analysis: Is this gamesmanship by the Seahawks to force the Bears to prepare for two different quarterbacks, or is Hasselbeck really on the mend? Expect to know more about his situation by Friday, which is typically when players who are going to play take to the practice field. Because he's nursing a fractured rib and because we're just not sure whether or not he'll play, consider other options before choosing Hasselbeck to be your starting Fantasy QB, and that includes if he's active on Sunday. If he is out, Wallace would only be recommended as a last-ditch pickup off waivers. We'll keep you posted on this.
News: Seattle coach Jim Mora confirmed Monday that quarterback Matt Hasselbeck has a fractured rib. The coach also says that the Seahawks have to prepare as though they won't have Hasselbeck for Sunday's game against the Bears. Backup Seneca Wallace would play if Seattle's three-time Pro Bowl quarterback can't go. Wallace finished the game on Sunday. Hasselbeck was hit hard in the back by Patrick Willis near the goal line during the first half of the Seahawks' 23-10 loss. Hasselbeck struggled toward the sideline and took a trainer's advice to go to the ground before leaving the field.
Analysis: Hasselbeck has a decent chance of playing Week 3 against the Bears, but you'll want to monitor his injury status during the course of the week. He proved he's still a viable Fantasy QB -- perhaps even a No. 1 -- with performance against the Rams in Week 1, but you can't expect him to perform as well against the Bears even if he can play. Wallace would not be a viable option against the Bears' solid defense.
News: Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace replaced Matt Hasselbeck, who left with bruised ribs, late in the second quarter Week 2 at San Francisco and threw a one-yard touchdown pass to Julius Jones on his first play. He finished 15 for 23 for 127 yards and an interception.
Analysis: Wallace doesn't have a big arm and showed last year he's not much of a Fantasy option as a starter. Fortunately, Hasselbeck looks like he'll be OK, so you can leave Wallace on waivers for Week 3 against the Bears.
News: Seattle backup QB Seneca Wallace was used in a trick play in Week 1 against the Rams, gaining 24 yards on a reception. He was snapped the ball, threw it across the field to Matt Hasselbeck, then got it back from Hasselbeck on a pass that went for 24 yards.
Analysis: This is about the only way that Wallace is going to be getting any stats in Fantasy. Unless Haselbeck gets hurt, which is entirely possible, Wallace does not need to be owned in Fantasy.
News: The Tacoma News Tribune speculates that because Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck was full-go in practice, including running around in drills and stretching with the team. Hasselbeck's focus is now aimed at learning the team's new offense under the guidance of new offensive coordinator Greg Knapp. "The (play)book is so thick," Hasselbeck said. "I think what we're trying to do now is just really install everything, see what works, see what fits the personnel. And Greg Knapp's kind of going 100 miles an hour teaching it, coaching it. We're just trying to learn it, practice it, get so it feels just like second nature."
Analysis: This is a good sign for Hasselbeck to remain the starter, but a bad sign for Seneca Wallace if he was looking for playing time as the backup. Wallace will only see the field if Hasselbeck gets hurt, so don't draft Wallace in any leagues this season.
News: Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace threw for 250 yards and two touchdown passes in Week 17 at Arizona. He completed 24-of-42 passes and was intercepted twice. He started his fourth straight game in place of injured starter Matt Hasselbeck.
Analysis: Wallace had one real good game with three touchdown passes and 212 yards, but was otherwise a very mediocre quarterback. He did not win himself a starting job in Seattle or elsewhere with his performances and is destined to be a backup QB in the NFL throughout his career.
News: Seattle QB Seneca Wallace will get his fourth straight start at quarterback in place of injured Matt Hasselbeck on Sunday at Arizona in Week 17. Wallace has a 108.9 passer rating in his last three games and has thrown a franchise-record 183 passes without an interception. "I'm very proud of him, very proud," coach Mike Holmgren said. "He got his chance to show people what he can do." Wallace will face an Arizona defense that's caved in like a cheap tent the past two weeks, giving up 910 yards, 514 to the Patriots in the New England snow last Sunday.
Analysis: Wallace is a great sleeper for Week 17. Arizona leads the NFL with 34 passing touchdowns allowed, so look for Wallace to get a chance to post solid stats in the final game of the season.
News: Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace went 18-for-25 passing for 175 yards and a touchdown in a 13-3 win Week 16 against the Jets. In nine games played this season, Wallace has thrown for nine touchdowns and only one interception.
Analysis: The Seahawks take on the Cardinals next week in Arizona, the Cardinals being a team that have looked horrible the past two weeks having already clinched a playoff spot. So, consider him a No. 2 QB option and a decent sleeper pick for Week 17.
News: Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace, making a second straight start with Matt Hasselbeck sidelined by a bulging disk, topped 200 yards passing again Week 15 at St. Louis. He finished 15-of-25 passing for 226 yards, but he didn't throw a touchdown pass. He did run two times for three yards, but he also lost a fumble.
Analysis: Wallace has eight passing touchdowns on the season compared to only one interception, so you can count on him not to ruin your Fantasy team. On the inconsistent Seahawks offense, though, you can't count on him for much else. Hasselbeck likely will miss the rest of the season, but against the Jets in Week 16, you should probably keep Wallace reserved.
News: The Seahawks listed QB Matt Hasselbeck as inactive for Week 15 at St. Louis. Coach Mike Holmgren had ruled him out earlier in the week because of a bulging disk in his back. He might not play again this season. Seneca Wallace will start in his place.
Analysis: The Rams rank 24th vs. the pass, have allowed 17 touchdowns through the air this season and have picked off just seven passes all year (tied for fifth-worst). The Seattle passing game appears to be at full strength as well after Wallace threw three touchdown passes last week. The matchup is right for Wallace, so consider him a top-end No. 2 Fantasy QB this week.
News: Seattle QB Seneca Wallace is expected to start at St. Louis in Week 15 (he's been practicing with a hamstring ailment), but he'll be working behind an offensive line that's pretty much a second-string unit. Seattle tackle Walter Jones, guard Mike Wahle and center Chris Spencer are all out for the season. Only two starters remain on the line for the 'Hawks. But there's a silver lining: Not only is Wallace a mobile passer who doesn't turn the ball over much, but he'll be playing against a Rams run defense that has five sacks in their last six games
Analysis: Here's another nugget to like for Wallace's matchup: The Rams rank 24th vs. the pass, have allowed 17 touchdowns through the air this season and have picked off just seven passes all year (tied for fifth-worst). The Seattle passing game appears to be at full strength as well after their three-touchdown outburst last week. Thus, the matchup is right for Wallace -- consider him a top-end No. 2 Fantasy QB for Week 15.
News: Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace completed 20-of-28 passes for 212 yards with three touchdowns in a heartbreaking Week 14 loss to the Patriots. Wallace also ran three times for 47 yards, but did lose a fumble.
Analysis: No one thought Wallace would be a viable Fantasy QB in Week 14, but he came out guns blazing on Sunday and produced his finest outing as an NFL quarterback. Matt Hasselbeck could be back in Week 15 at St. Louis, so you might waste your time picking him up off waivers, but if your QB has a tough matchup outdoors next week, you might want to grab Wallace just in case the weather is awful.
News: Seahawks backup QB Seneca Wallace will probably start in Week 14 Sunday vs. New England as Matt Hasselbeck has been listed as doubtful for the game. Wallace took the first-team snaps for Hasselbeck on Friday. Wallace is likely to make his fifth start of the season against the Patriots.
Analysis: We weren't recommending Hasselbeck to start and we certainly don't feel any differently about Wallace. The Seahawks passing attack is fair at best with Hasselbeck and worse with Wallace. Look elsewhere for a stop-gap option.
News: The following Seahawks were active for Week 12 against Washington but did not pick up any statistics: RB Owen Schmitt, TE Will Heller and backup QB Seneca Wallace.
Analysis: Schmitt is a solid pass-catching fullback but with Leonard Weaver back, the Seahawks don't give him enough looks to warrant using him in Fantasy. The same goes for the other two listed above.
News: Seahawks RB Justin Forsett, WR Jordan Kent, TE Will Heller and QB Seneca Wallace all dressed, but failed to record an offensive stat Week 11 vs. Arizona.
Analysis: Wallace was the Seahawks starting quarterback the last few weeks with Matt Hasselbeck sidelined, but Hasselbeck returned to action Week 11 and that meant Wallace was back on the bench. Most of these players are reserves for Seattle and have little to no Fantasy appeal. Seattle plays Washington Week 12.
News:Matt Hasselbeck is ready to make his first start in six weeks on Sunday when the Seahawks play first-place Arizona. Coach Mike Holmgren said Monday his three-time Pro Bowl quarterback has been cleared to practice with the starting offense Wednesday. Barring the unforeseen, Hasselbeck will then start his first game since he hyperextended his right knee in a loss at the New York Giants on Oct. 5. A surgeon in Los Angeles found that a bulging disk in Hasselbeck's back was affecting a nerve and weakening the knee. The Seahawks are 1-4 without Hasselbeck. They are 1-3 with him, and seem headed to early elimination in the NFC West. His return means Seneca Wallace will no longer start at quarterback.
Analysis: Wallace has thrown for 669 yards, five touchdowns and one interception in Hasselbeck's absence. He has not been a bad band-aid option, but he hasn't been winning games and that's why Hasselbeck is taking over again. Now that Wallace is no longer a starter, he can be ignored in most Fantasy formats.
News: Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace completed 21-of-38 passes for 185 yards and a touchdown in a Week 10 loss to Miami, despite hurting his groin in the first half. Wallace also ran twice for nine yards.
Analysis: Wallace was hurt by the groin injury on Sunday, as it limited his rushing skills. He clearly looked bothered by the issue in the second half. Now the bye weeks are over and Matt Hasselbeck is close to returning, Wallace's value sinks to almost zero. Ignore him in Week 11 vs. Arizona.
News: QB Seneca Wallace got Seattle off to a 7-0 lead Week 9 against the Eagles after connecting with Koren Robinson on a 90-yard touchdown on the team's first scoring drive. It went all downhill after that in a 26-7 loss. The Seahawks punted 10 consecutive times -- seven after three-and-outs -- following the team-record 90-yard touchdown pass on their first play. Wallace finished the game 13-of-29 for 169 yards and managed to avoid a turnover.
Analysis: Wallace is pretty much keeping the quarterback seat warm until Matt Hasselbeck can return from the injured list. Wallace has four touchdowns and one interception in his last three games, but he isn't a spectacular QB and is nothing more than a bye-week Fantasy replacement. The Seahawks play the Dolphins Week 10.
News: Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck has returned to Los Angeles for a second visit to a back surgeon, leaving coach Mike Holmgren to prepare for Week 9 against Philadelphia with Seneca Wallace as his starting quarterback. "Right now, he's our quarterback," Holmgren said of Wallace on Monday. "And we rally behind him." Hasselbeck has missed the last three games. Wallace finished Week 8 at San Francisco 15-of-25 passing for 222 yards and two touchdowns.
Analysis: Wallace got some assistance on two long catch-and-runs by fullback Leonard Weaver on Sunday, meaning you shouldn't view him as a quarterback capable of throwing for 200 yards in any given week. He had only 73 yards passing last week. Consider him just a last resort in Fantasy for as long as he keeps starting for Hasselbeck, which seemingly includes Week 9 against the Eagles.
News: Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace, starting for the second straight game with Matt Hasselbeck nursing a back injury, finished 15-of-25 passing for 222 yards and two touchdowns Week 8 at San Francisco. Both of his touchdown passes went to fullback Leonard Weaver.
Analysis: Wallace got some assistance on two long catch-and-runs by Weaver, meaning you shouldn't view him as a quarterback capable of throwing for 200 yards in any given week. He had only 73 yards passing last week. Consider him just a last resort in Fantasy if he remains the starter Week 9 against the Eagles.
News:Matt Hasselbeck will again be watching from the sidelines. Deion Branch is likely to join him. The Seahawks' starting quarterback will not play Sunday when Seattle travels to San Francisco. Hasselbeck still has not reached the required benchmarks as part of his recovery from a bulging disk in his back causing weakening in his right knee. Backup Seneca Wallace will get his second consecutive start for the Seahawks (1-5), ending the slim hopes coach Mike Holmgren had of getting Hasselbeck back for this week. "There is a series of things, exercises, that he has to go through every week and they are measurables, and if he doesn't meet certain criteria then they're just not going to clear him," Holmgren said of Hasselbeck after Friday's practice. "And it has to do with the strength, and his ability to do certain things and maintain and play a game."
Analysis: Hasselbeck hyperextended his knee early in Seattle's 44-6 loss to the New York Giants on Oct. 5 and played most of the game, but hasn't seen the practice or playing field since. Last Sunday against Tampa Bay, Wallace became Seattle's third starting quarterback in as many weeks in the Seahawks' 20-10 loss, their third consecutive setback. Again the Seahawks' passing game faltered as Wallace hit on only 12 of 23 passes for 73 yards and compiled a passer rating of 55.2. Wallace split snaps last week in practice, not wanting to push a strained calf that has hampered him this season. Wallace took all the snaps with the No. 1 offense this week. "I feel a little better because you get another week under your belt. It was a little difficult last week, but now you get another week to get your rhythm down with all the guys," Wallace said. "It's a little better." Wallace is nothing more than a desperation Fantasy start.
News: NFL.com is reporting Wednesday that Seattle QB Matt Hasselbeck will miss his third-straight game with a back injury. For the second straight week, Seneca Wallace will start, even though he has a strained calf. Wallace's second straight start comes against the 49ers. The reports says Hasselbeck is making some progress, but not enough to make Seattle think he is ready to start just yet. It is conceivable that Hasselbeck could be ready for the game the following week against the Eagles.
Analysis: Keep Hasselbeck reserved in all leagues for Week 8 at San Francisco and hope he can return in Week 9 against the Eagles. When healthy, he is a No. 2 Fantasy QB. Wallace should not be started against the 49ers at this time.
News: Seattle QB Seneca Wallace started Sunday at Tampa Bay for the injured Matt Hasselbeck (knee) and the ineffective Charlie Frye. Wallace returned from a sore leg and started for the first time in two years. He was 12-of-23 passing for 73 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He also had two carries for 6 yards and lost a fumble.
Analysis: Wallace did not look like a good NFL QB and certainly not like a Fantasy option. Still, he faces a poor San Francisco defense in Week 8 so he could find some success. Even so, he's not worth using against the 49ers because he's just not good enough.
News: Mike Holmgren's hopes of avoiding the second 1-5 start of his 17-year coaching career rest upon a backup quarterback who has a sore leg and will make his first start in two years. Seattle's coach confirmed Friday that Seneca Wallace will start Sunday night at Tampa Bay (4-2). This week's practices proved Wallace's 5-week-old calf injury has healed enough for him to replace Charlie Frye, the third-stringer who was skittish and ineffective in last week's loss to Green Bay. "He looked OK. More importantly, he feels OK," a "relieved" Holmgren said of Wallace. "It's going to be his ballgame -- unless something happens in the next two days."
Analysis: Wallace isn't considered one of the league's better backups, and the Seahawks offense struggled this season even with Matt Hasselbeck starting. Consider Wallace nothing more than a desperation option in Fantasy.
News:Seneca Wallace isn't going to let a sore calf keep him from trying to rescue the Seahawks' sinking season. After leading the first-team offense for most of Thursday's practice, the quarterback said he's ready to start Week 7 when Seattle plays at Tampa Bay. A day earlier, the backup split time with third-stringer Charlie Frye. "I feel better. I feel better every day," Wallace said of his strained calf, which he re-injured during a morning walkthrough on Oct. 8.
Analysis: When asked if he felt he could play Sunday, Wallace was confident: "Yeah, I always feel I can play," he said. "I'll just keep working and see what happens. The players have confidence in me." Wallace isn't considered one of the league's better backups, and the Seahawks offense struggled this season even with Matt Hasselbeck starting. Consider Wallace nothing more than a desperation option in Fantasy.
News: Seahawks backup quarterback Seneca Wallace was back on the field after missing almost all of last week with a calf injury. Coach Mike Holmgren said he will split time this week with third-stringer Charlie Frye, and if Wallace's calf holds up through that, he will start for Seattle on Sunday night at Tampa Bay.
Analysis: Neither Wallace nor Frye would serve as anything better than a desperation starting Fantasy QB for Week 7. Consider other options before going with either quarterback.
News: With Matt Hasselbeck expected to miss Week 7 at Tampa Bay, Seattle coach Mike Holmgren said Seneca Wallace would start if healthy. Charlie Frye started Week 6 against Green Bay when Hasselbeck was out and Wallace was limited with a calf injury. "Seneca Wallace, if he can practice all week, he will start the football game," Holmgren said Monday. "If he cannot, then we'll go with Charlie again. So that's kind of the situation at quarterback. ... I need to see him practice. He has to feel good."
Analysis: Holmgren indicated Wallace would have started against the Packers if he was 100 percent. "Well Seneca, he's played games. Played some fine football for us. You know, he's been here longer than Charlie. The problem is that Seneca's game, a lot of it is quickness, and this injury he has directly relates to that. So, the question would be: Can he play the game the way he plays the game, not just be out there? You have to weigh the two of them and (see) who actually is in a better position to play the play. That's what were going to be looking at." Keep an eye on Wallace's status during the week, but neither he or Frye would be worth starting on your Fantasy team in Week 7 at Tampa Bay.
News:Matt Hasselbeck's knee injury needs more tests. The Seahawks' three-time Pro Bowl QB was inactive for Sunday's 27-17 loss to Green Bay, after being listed as questionable. That forced Seattle to use No. 3 QB Charlie Frye for his first start in two seasons, because backup Seneca Wallace is also hurting with a calf injury. After Frye completed 12-of-23 throws for just 83 yards with two touchdowns, two interceptions and three sacks, coach Mike Holmgren said his team (1-4) will evaluate Hasselbeck's knee on Monday. Hasselbeck said last week he has a bone bruise from getting hit early in the loss at the New York Giants on Oct. 5. He returned to play deep into the third quarter. The Seahawks have been calling it a hyperextended knee, and Holmgren has said there is no structural damage - at least none revealed in an MRI taken early last week. He then turned his attention, without being asked, to getting Wallace back for this weekend's game at Tampa Bay (4-2). "I think Seneca will improve day-to-day. So I would suspect he would be available to play next week," Holmgren said.
Analysis: Neither Wallace or Frye would have much Fantasy value in Week 7 against the Bucs. Consider both as reserves against Tampa Bay's defense depending on who starts in place of Hasselbeck.
News: The following Seahawks players did not record an offensive statistic in Week 6 vs. Green Bay: QB Seneca Wallace, WR Michael Bumpus, WR Billy McMullen, LS Jeff Robinson and TE Will Heller.
Analysis: None of the players on this list should be considered viable Fantasy option. They are not in a position to contribute regular stats as they aren't in line for regular playing time. They've got some depth chart climbing to do and should be left on the waiver wire.
News: The Seahawks are set to start No. 3 QB Charlie Frye against the Packers on Sunday after starter Matt Hasselbeck missed Friday's practice and was unable to take part all week, reports the Seattle Times. Hasselbeck injured his right knee in last week's loss to the New York Giants. He continued to play until being lifted late in the third quarter, but was held out of practice this week with the idea that his knee would be strong enough by Sunday. But coach Mike Holmgren said after practice that Hasselbeck's knee has not responded and that it appears Frye will play in the game. Backup QB Seneca Wallace, who Wednesday aggravated the calf he hurt just before the San Francisco game, is expected to be able to play but would serve as Frye's backup, Holmgren said.
Analysis: It appears safe to keep Hasselbeck reserved this week in all leagues. Frye has minimal Fantasy value and should not be added. And keep Wallace out in all leagues most weeks.
News: Seahawks backup QB Seneca Wallace entered Week 5 at the Giants late in the fourth quarter with his team down 34-6. He completed three passes for 20 yards.
Analysis: Wallace warmed up early in the game when Matt Hasselbeck appeared to sustain a knee injury, but the starter was able to remain in the game. While Hasselbeck is healthy, Wallace has no appeal in Fantasy.
News: The Seattle Seahawks have announced the inactives for their Week 3 game vs. the St. Louis Rams. Not in uniform will be: WR Deion Branch, RB Maurice Morris, WR Koren Robinson, WR Bobby Engram, DE Red Bryant, QB Seneca Wallace and K Brandon Coutu.
Analysis: Branch, Morris, Robinson and Engram all have Fantasy value, but they had all been declared out earlier this week or were doubtful. Make sure they're on your bench for Week 3.
News: The Seattle Times reports that Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace, who was forced to play wide receiver in Week 2 because of numerous injuries to the Seattle receiving corps, is likely out 3-4 weeks with a strained calf.
Analysis: Wallace probably knew he was in trouble when he took the field as a WR against the 49ers, as the WR jinx in Seattle just doesn't look like stopping any time soon. Wallace had little to no Fantasy value before getting hurt, and now he has zero.
News:Seneca Wallace was scratched by the Seahawks against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, the fifth injury to a Seattle wide receiver already this season. The team announced just before Sunday's kickoff that Wallace would miss its home opener because of a new calf injury. The dynamic backup quarterback was set to have a big role at receiver after practicing there the last two weeks. He ran pass patterns during pregame warmups. That's apparently when he got hurt.
Analysis: As a receiver, Wallace wouldn't be expected to post a ton of stats, though it would certainly be interesting if he played there. He was supposed to, but apparently being a Seahawks receiver is pretty bad luck these days. Unless he garnered regular playing time, Wallace isn't worth adding to your Fantasy roster for now. He is and will remain QB-eligible in CBSSports.com leagues.
News: Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren said dynamic backup quarterback Seneca Wallace, who fair caught two punts for Burleson late in the loss to the Bills, "quite possibly" will have a primary receiving role against the 49ers. The club has lost Nate Burleson and Ben Obomanu to season-ending injuries and are without Bobby Engram and Deion Branch for their Week 2 game.
Analysis: As a receiver, Wallace wouldn't be expected to post a ton of stats, though it would certainly be interesting if he played there. Unless he garnered regular playing time, Wallace isn't worth adding to your Fantasy roster for now. He is and will remain QB-eligible in CBSSports.com leagues.
News: Seahawks TE Jeb Putzier, QB Seneca Wallace, RB T.J. Duckett, WR Jordan Kent and TE Will Heller all dressed for Seattle's Week 1 loss to the Bills but did not record an offensive statistic.
Analysis: Duckett is the only player in this group with any real Fantasy value and he could get some more carries in Week 2 against the 49ers if Maurice Morris is injured. Ignore the rest.
News: Seattle No. 3 QB Charlie Frye did not practice on Wednesday because of a knee problem but will be available in Friday's preseason finale against the Raiders. Frye, however, will not start as backup Seneca Wallace gets the nod and No. 4 quarterback Dalton Bell will also play.
Analysis: If something were to happen to Matt Hasselbeck in-season, Wallace could be called on to start for Seattle. However, he is a useless Fantasy option until that time arises. The other guys are just trying to earn a place on the roster as the No. 3 QB.
News: Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace entered Monday's preseason game in the fourth quarter when Charlie Frye left with a knee injury. Wallace, who was nursing a groin injury, completed 2 of 4 passes for 15 yards and was picked off on the last drive of the game as Seattle trailed 18-17.
Analysis: Wallace had three touchdowns in the team's preseason opener against the Vikings, but didn't play last week vs. Chicago. If something were to happen to Matt Hasselbeck in-season, Wallace could be called on to start for Seattle. However, he is a useless Fantasy option until that time arises.
News: Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck likely will miss Seattle's preseason game Monday at San Diego and probably won't see any action until the regular season because of ongoing back stiffness. Coach Mike Holmgren all but ruled his Pro Bowl quarterback out of his second consecutive preseason game. With the exhibition finale just three days later against Oakland, Hasselbeck remains unlikely to play again until Seattle's opener Sept. 7 at Buffalo. "He has a tight back," Holmgren said. "You wake up funny, or you tweak it or whatever. You've just got to let it calm down a little bit." Holmgren said third-stringer Charlie Frye will start against the Chargers and play most if not the entire game for the second consecutive week. No. 2 quarterback Seneca Wallace is back following a groin strain and said he expected to play in San Diego.
Analysis: Wallace finished 15-of-20 for 165 yards and three touchdowns in the team's preseason opener against the Vikings. The touchdowns came on passes of 15, 7 and 1 yards. If something were to happen to Hasselbeck in-season, Wallace could be called on to start for Seattle. However, he is a useless Fantasy option until that time arises.

News:Matt Hasselbeck may be the starting quarterback when the season starts for Seattle, but Seneca Wallace made a case on Friday. In the team's preseason opener against the Vikings, Wallace was on target to say the least. Wallace finished 15-of-20 for 165 yards and three touchdowns. The touchdowns came on passes of 15, 7 and 1 yards.
Analysis: Wallace showed the Seahawks that if Hasselbeck goes down, they're covered nicely. Ever the versatile player, Wallace will continue working in all sorts of ways -- QB, RB, WR -- to see the field. Fantasywise, however, he's only useful if something happens to Seattle starter Matt Hasselbeck. Until then, Wallace is useless.
News: Seahawks backup QB Seneca Wallace completed 19-of-28 passes (67.9 pct.) for 215 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. He also rushed for 17 yards on four carries and caught two passes for 47 yards.
Analysis: Ever the versatile player, Wallace will continue working in all sorts of ways to see the field. Fantasywise, however, he's only useful if something happens to Seattle starter Matt Hasselbeck. Until then, Wallace is useless.
News: Seattle QB Seneca Wallace was 17-of-22 passing for 206 yards, two touchdowns and one interception Sunday at Atlanta. He also had one carry for 2 yards and lost a fumble.
Analysis: Wallace is the backup QB for the Seahawks and is not worth using in any Fantasy playoff leagues as long as Matt Hasselbeck is healthy.
News: Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace played mop-up duty during a Week 16 win against the Ravens. He came on for a few series to complete 1-of-2 passes for three yards. He also rushed once for five yards.
Analysis: The Seahawks locked up the third seed in the NFC and that means Wallace might see a considerable amount of playing time Week 17 against the Falcons. Even if that were to happen, he would be a desperation Fantasy option.
News: Notable Seahawks who were active and dressed but didn't record an offensive stat in Week 15 at Carolina include: TE Marcus Pollard, RB Josh Scobey, TE Bennie Joppru, FB David Kirtman and backup QB Seneca Wallace.
Analysis: Only Pollard is of any use for Fantasy owners as a low-end No. 2/top-end No. 3 Fantasy TE. He shouldn't start, nor should any of his aforementioned teammates, when the Seahawks host the Ravens in Week 16.
News: Seahawks TE Will Heller, QB Seneca Wallace, RB Josh Scobey, TE Bennie Joppru and RB David Kirtman all dressed, but failed to record an offensive stat Week 14 against the Cardinals.
Analysis: All five of these players are reserves or see reps on special teams. They have little to no Fantasy value heading into Week 15 against the Panthers.
News: Seahawks backup QB Seneca Wallace, FB Fred McCrary, TE Bennie Joppru, TE Will Heller, WR Courtney Taylor and WR Ben Obomanu all dressed, but failed to record an offensive stat Week 13 at Philly.
Analysis: All of these players are backups for the Seahawks and won't factor much into the offensive gameplan at this time. Ignore them heading into Week 14 against the Cardinals.
News: Seattle QB Seneca Wallace didn't play Sunday at St. Louis.
Analysis: Wallace has minimal Fantasy value as long as Matt Hasselbeck is healthy. Don't plan on using Wallace in Week 13 at the Eagles.
News: Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace, RB Fred McCrary, TE Bennie Joppru and WR Ben Obomanu all dressed, but failed to record an offensive stat Week 11 against the Bears.
Analysis: All of these players are backups for the Seahawks and won't factor much into the offensive gameplan at this time. Ignore them heading into Week 12 against the Rams.
News: Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace, RB David Kirtman, RB Fred McCrary, TE Bennie Joppru and WR Courtney Taylor didn't record statistics Week 10 against the 49ers.
Analysis: These players sit too low on the depth chart to contribute meaningful statistics. Keep all on waivers Week 11 against the Bears.
News: Seahawks RB Fred McCrary, TE Bennie Joppru, WR Courtney Taylor and QB Seneca Wallace didn't record statistics Week 9 at Cleveland.
Analysis: These players either don't play or mostly block when they do, meaning they have little Fantasy value. The Seahawks host the 49ers in Week 10.
News: Seahawks FB Fred McCrary, TE Bennie Joppru, WR Ben Obomanu and QB Seneca Wallace didn't record statistics in Week 7's 33-6 win against the Rams.
Analysis: These players either don't play or mostly block when they do, meaning they have little Fantasy value. The Seahawks have a bye in Week 8 before visiting Cleveland in Week 9.
News: Backup QB Seneca Wallace hauled in one reception for 29 yards in Week 6 against New Orleans on a really pretty second half play.
Analysis: There are some offensive coaches which feel Wallace could be one of the best receivers on the Seattle roster with more practice and touches as a full-time receiver. However, at this point, he remains the backup QB with a few touches as receiver. Avoid him in all but the deepest of Fantasy leagues heading into Week 7 against St. Louis.
News: Seattle QB Seneca Wallace came on for Matt Hasselbeck in the fourth quarter Sunday against Pittsburgh with the game out of reach. He was 1-of-3 passing for 6 yards. He also added one carry for 11 yards.
Analysis: Wallace has no Fantasy value unless Hasselbeck would be hurt. Do not use Wallace in Week 6 against New Orleans.
News: Seattle backup QB Seneca Wallace threw one incomplete pass, ran one time for negative-one yard and caught an 18-yard pass as the Seahawks defeated the 49ers 23-3 in Week 4.
Analysis: Wallace is used sparingly in the Seattle scheme and isn't worth any Fantasy consideration unless Matt Hasselbeck gets hurt.
News: Seahawks backup QB Seneca Wallace and TE Will Heller did not record an offensive stat in Week 2 at Arizona.
Analysis: At this time, neither player should be on your Fantasy roster.
News: TE Will Heller, TE Bennie Joppru and RB Leonard Weaver were all able to play in Week 1 against the Buccaneers, but none of the players posted any offensive statistics. Backup QB Seneca Wallace also suited up, but did not get into the game.
Analysis: None of the players mentioned above are worth using in any Fantasy format heading into Week 2 at Arizona.
News: NFL Network reports that Seneca Wallace signed a three-year extension to stay with the Seahawks.
Analysis: Wallace is expected to back up Matt Hasselbeck this season, and he is only going to play if Hasselbeck goes down. Last season, Wallace saw some starts and did not do very well Fantasywise. He's only worth a pick as insurance for Hasselbeck in the deepest of Fantasy Football leagues. Otherwise, expect to find him on the waiver wire.
News: Seneca Wallace completed 6-of-15 passes for 94 yards with an 11-yard rush at Green Bay in Seattle's second preseason game. Wallace started in place of Matt Hasselbeck and played without starting offensive tackles Walter Jones and Sean Locklear. Wallace also lost two fumbles.
Analysis: Wallace is only going to play if starter Matt Hasselbeck goes down. Last season, Wallace saw some starts and did not do very well Fantasywise. He's only worth a pick as insurance for Hasselbeck in the deepest of Fantasy Football leagues. Otherwise, expect to find him on the waiver wire.
News: Seattle backup quarterback Seneca Wallace threw a 17-yard touchdown to WR Ben Obomanu with 10:45 left in Sunday's preseason game against the Chargers. Wallace was 17-of-25 for 191 yards, with one interception.
Analysis: Wallace doesn't have a chance of unseating Matt Hasselbeck as the starting quarterback, but he does appear to be the uncontested winner of the backup job. With Hasselbeck recovering from labrum surgery, Wallace might be a pretty decent selection in the late rounds as insurance for Fantasy owners of the starter.
News: FB Mack Strong, QB Seneca Wallace, RB Marquis Weeks, TE Bennie Joppru and TE Will Heller were able to play in Week 16 against the Chargers but they did not post any offensive statistics.
Analysis: None of the players mentioned above are worthy of any Fantasy consideration in Week 17.
News: Backup QB Seneca Wallace played in Week 15 against the 49ers but he did not post any offensive statistics.
Analysis: Wallace is not a recommended Fantasy option for Week 16 against the Chargers as long as Matt Hasselbeck stays healthy.
News: Seahawks backup QB Seneca Wallace, RB Marquis Weeks, FB Bennie Joppru and TE Will Heller did not record an offensive statistic in Week 14 at Arizona.
Analysis: None of these players should be used in Fantasy play until further notice.
News: FB Bennie Joppru, RB Josh Scobey and backup QB Seneca Wallace all played in Week 13 at Denver but did not record any offensive statistics.
Analysis: None of the triumvirate are recommended in any Fantasy leagues for Week 14 at Arizona.
News: TE Will Heller, TE Itula Mili and RB Josh Scobey all played in Week 12 against the Packers and he did not record any offensive statistics.
Analysis: Backup QB Seneca Wallace dressed but did not get into the game. None of these players are worth using in Week 13 at Denver.
News: Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace was 19-of-31 passing for 252 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions against the 49ers. Wallace also had two carries for 21 yards. It was probably Wallace's last start with Matt Hasselbeck set to return next week.
Analysis: Keep an eye on Hasselbeck's status to see if Wallace will start or not. If Wallace does start, consider him a good sleeper against Green Bay. If Hasselbeck starts, reserve Wallace immediately.
News: The 49ers won't know until Sunday whether they will be facing Pro Bowl quarterback Matt Hasselbeck when they play the Seattle Seahawks in San Francisco. Coach Mike Holmgren said Friday that he believes Hasselbeck is "capable of playing" against the 49ers, "but we're going to have to see how it all sorts itself out." "I will do that on Sunday," he said. Thursday, 49ers coach Mike Nolan said his team was preparing as if Hasselbeck would start.
Analysis: If Wallace plays this week, consider him a No. 2 QB against the 49ers. Follow the situation up until Sunday morning when Fantasy lineups are being finalized.
News: Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace is preparing to yield the starting QB job to Matt Hasselbeck, who has practiced the last two days for the first time since he sprained a ligament in his right knee in a game Oct. 22 against Minnesota. The Seahawks don't expect to know until Friday whether Wallace or Hasselbeck will start Sunday at San Francisco. Hasselbeck was limping by the end of a 25-play workout Wednesday. Thursday, he was limping less while running the scout team again at practice. Wallace again took all the snaps with the starting offense. "What he told me, the more he gets going, the better he feels," Seahawks quarterback coach Jim Zorn said of Hasselbeck.
Analysis: If Wallace plays this week, consider him a No. 2 QB against the 49ers. The same can be said for Hasselbeck, but he will probably be a less desirable Fantasy start coming off a pretty serious injury. Continue to monitor the situation as the Seahawks get closer and closer to a decision.
News: Regardless of how well he has played while subbing for Matt Hasselbeck, Seneca Wallace isn't going anywhere in the offseason. The Seahawks' backup quarterback was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after signing his tender as a restricted free agent in March. But the club has signed Wallace to an extension through the 2007 season. That's good news, especially in light of Wallace's performance while starting the past three games because Hasselbeck has been out with a sprained right knee. Wallace is 2-1 as the starter, and played well enough to win the game at Kansas City in his first start. His quarterback rating in those three games is 91.2. He has thrown six touchdown passes and two interceptions. He directed a season-long 94-yard touchdown drive against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday. This is a difficult week for Wallace, however, because Hasselbeck is practicing and could play against the 49ers in San Francisco on Sunday. "I'm preparing as if I was going to start the game," Wallace said. "That's the only way I can prepare myself. I can't worry about that. If he's ready to go on Sunday, he'll be ready." Financial terms of Wallace's extension were not disclosed.
Analysis: If Wallace plays this week, consider him a No. 2 QB against the 49ers. But continue to monitor his status to see if either him or Hasselbeck will be the starter.
News: Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace, making his third pro start, completed 15-of-23 passes for 161 yards and two touchdowns. His touchdown passes were good for three and 15 yards. He also had 30 yards rushing on two carries.
Analysis: Wallace has done a decent job in place of the injured Matt Hasselbeck, who could return to action in Week 11 against the 49ers. Hasselbeck didn't sound to optimistic about being ready to play Week 11, but anything can happen. If Wallace was to get another start in Week 11 against the 49ers, he should be considered a low-end No. 2 Fantasy QB.
News: Seattle coach Mike Holmgren said Tuesday that QB Matt Hasselbeck (knee) is unlikely to play vs. St. Louis in Week 10. Seneca Wallace will make his third start in Hasselbeck's absence.
Analysis: Hasselbeck should remain reserved in all Fantasy leagues; Wallace is a No. 2 QB option in Fantasy play for Week 10.
News: Seneca Wallace completed 18-of-30 passes for 176 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Week 9 against the Raiders. He also ran three times for 49 yards in the 16-0 win.
Analysis: Wallace might be a decent Fantasy option in Week 10 against the Rams in leagues which allow two starting quarterbacks, but he is still not considered a No. 1 option in any format.
News: Seattle QB Seneca Wallace, making his first NFL start in place of an injured Matt Hasselbeck, was 15-of-30 passing for 198 yards, three TDs and two INTs. He added 18 rush yards. "Once I relaxed and calmed down, it was just like another game for me," Wallace said. "It has been a while since I've played a full game."
Analysis: It's good that Wallace tossed for three TDs, but his passing completion percentage isn't great. He'll get the job done in Hasselbeck's place; if you have no other choice but to start him, he's worth using vs. Oakland in Week 9.
News: Seneca Wallace looked up at the locker room visitor who had asked how his week was going - now that he's The Man. "It's a lot," he said. It's a week unlike any of his previous 59 NFL game weeks. On Sunday at Kansas City, he'll be starting in place of quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, the Pro Bowler who is out for at least three weeks with a sprained knee ligament. There are the interviews, the conference calls, the incessant ringing of his cell phone by well-wishers who may be more excited than Wallace that he's getting his first start after 3 1/2 years in the league. "I always have to calm myself down. I'm the type of guy that gets real excited, so I have to make sure I stay calm," he said. "As a quarterback, you always have to be calm about everything that you do, your checks and all those things that come along with playing the position."
Analysis: Wallace is a very agile quarterback, but one lacking tremendous arm strength and accuracy. He's also short (5-foot-11) and could see some passes batted down. He looked very rusty in second-half action against the Vikings but should be a bit sharper once he practices and gets used to the first team. Consider him if you're needy for a QB in Fantasy play, including if Matt Hasselbeck was your starting QB.
News: Kansas City coach Herman Edwards has warned his team that Wallace will be looking to make a name for himself on Sunday. "(Seattle) will have a plan coming in here with Seneca and I think he's going to surprise people," Edwards said. "I think he's a heck of a player. I think when all that happens the team rallies around him and we'd better be ready to play."

He looked very rusty in second-half action against the Vikings but should be a bit sharper once he practices and gets used to the first team. News: The following Seattle players were active but did not record an offensive statistic at Detroit in Week 1: QB Seneca Wallace, RB/KR Josh Scobey, FB Josh Parry, WR Willie Ponder and TE Will Heller.
Analysis: None of these players should be considered for Fantasy use because they don't rack up enough statistics. The Seahawks play vs. Arizona in Week 2.

News: The Seattle Times reports Matt Hasselbeck will start but play for about one quarter in the regular-season finale. Seneca Wallace is in line to see most of the work.
Analysis: Hasselbeck could score 8-10 FF points in limited work, but be aware that he will be on the sidelines for most of the contest. Wallace could be a better option this week.

News: Wallace came in during the Week 13 laugher at Philadelphia to spell Matt Hasselbeck in the second half.
Analysis: Wallace is mopping up, getting an opportunity to show what he can do during game action. Unless Hasselbeck suffers some sort of long-term injury, Wallace should be avoided in all Fantasy leagues regardless of his performance Monday.
News: Seahawks backup QB Seneca Wallace cooled off after his Week 1 highlight-reel effort. Against Dallas, he was 8 of 20 passing for 69 yards and only four rushing yards. He also fumbled twice but didn't lose either fumble.
Analysis: Wallace will be Hasselbeck's wingman for the Seahawks and shouldn't receive consideration unless Hasselbeck plays poorly or gets hurt.
News: The Herald reports Seneca Wallace has looked sharp in practice. "He's looking very good to me," head coach Mike Holmgren said. "As I've said before, we're going to try to get him on the field in some capacity this year. He's a very good quarterback, and he threw the ball well [Wednesday]."
Analysis: The Seahawks hope Wallace can serve as the immediate backup to starter Matt Hasselbeck now that Trent Dilfer (Brown) is out of the mix.
News: Seneca Wallce, the No. 4 quarterback with Seattle, was 14-of-26 for 135 yards and a touchdown in a preseason game against Green Bay on Monday night.
Analysis: It's pretty certain that Trent Dilfer and Brock Huard are Seattle's No. 2 and 3 quarterbacks, so Wallace might not make Seattle's roster. He has no Fantasy value.

Analysis: Wallace was an exciting quarterback at Iowa State, but he appears to be on the outside looking in, as he competes with the two veterans for a roster spot. Wallace might be auditioning for other teams in the game at Green Bay.
News: The Tacoma News Tribune reports Seneca Wallace could be the odd-man out at quarterback in Seattle. Matt Hasselbeck and Trent Dilfer are the team's top two quarterbacks, and Brock Huard's one-year deal all but assures him a spot on the roster. "That's the nature of the business," Wallace said. "The only thing I can do is go out there and show everyone I can play and move the ball and not make mistakes."
Analysis: Wallace has very little value to owners.
