News: Houston WR Kevin Walter has been dealing with a quadriceps injury, but was able to lead his team in receiving yards versus Indianapolis in Week 16. Walter got the start in place of the injured Andre Johnson. Walter caught all three passes thrown his way for 47 yards. The Texans ended up losing the game, 19-16, however.
Analysis: Walter will likely get one more start -- as long as Johnson doesn't return in Week 17 against Tennessee -- which gives him added value. Unfortunately his stock is so low, Walter is still barely worth using in any Fantasy format. Continue to view Walter as a low-end WR option against the Titans.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter was active on Thursday night versus the Colts. Walter once again started for the injured Andre Johnson. Walter has been dealing with a quadriceps injury.
Analysis: The Colts are allowing the seventh-most Fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers and that bodes well for Walter. That said, the Colts have only allowed two touchdowns to the position in the last five weeks of action. alter has been incredibly inconsistent and only caught one pass for 14 yards in the first game against the Colts this season Week 1. Walter is just a low-end Fantasy option for Week 16, even with Johnson out.
News: Houston wide receiver Kevin Walter should continue to see plenty of looks in the passing game entering Week 16 at Indianapolis on Thursday. Walter is expected to start once again with Andre Johnson out. Jacoby Jones is also dealing with an injury and Walter might be the healthiest option for the Texans' passing game, though he was listed on the practice report as a full participant with a quad injury. The Colts are allowing the seventh-most Fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers and that bodes well for Walter. That said, the Colts have only allowed two touchdowns to the position in the last five weeks of action.
Analysis: Walter has seen added looks with Johnson out for much of this season and has still done nothing with them. He caught six passes for 76 yards and a touchdown Week 14 at Cincinnati, but came back Week 15 against Carolina with just two catches for 26 yards. Walter has been incredibly inconsistent and only caught one pass for 14 yards in the first game against the Colts this season Week 1. Walter is just a low-end Fantasy option for Week 16, even with Johnson out.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter had a mostly quiet afternoon in a Week 15 loss to the Panthers. He caught just two passes for 26 yards, though if not for a penalty, he would have produced much more. Walter had caught a 24-yard pass in the end zone late in the third quarter, but the play was nullified, as Walter was penalized for illegal touching.
Analysis: One penalty made the difference between a good day in Fantasy for Walter and one that was not worth remembering. He has not been much of a factor in most games lately, so this is the kind of small margin for error that he has to work with. Even with a good matchup against the Colts coming up, Walter can be ignored in most formats for Week 16.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter (knee) was listed as active for Week 15 against the Panthers. He had been limited in practice every day during the week leading up to the game.
Analysis: Walter will play, and even though fellow WR Andre Johnson (hamstring) won't, he cannot be relied upon outside of the deepest of leagues. Look for Jacoby Jones to get the bulk of the targets in Johnson's absence.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter is listed as probable for Week 15 against Carolina with a knee issue. Walter was limited in practice every day the past week. Walter was active for Week 14 against Cincinnati after battling an illness in practice.
Analysis: Walter stepped in for the Texans last Sunday and matched a season-high with six receptions for 78 yards. He also recorded his first touchdown since Week 4 to give him three scores total this season. Walter could be leaned on again this week as WR Andre Johnson was already ruled out with a hamstring injury. The Panthers are allowing an average of 19.5 Fantasy points per game to opposing wideouts this season. Consider Walter a low-end WR option in deeper Fantasy formats for Week 15.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter, who entered the game with no more than 15 receiving yards in any of his previous four, was one of QB T.J. Yates' most targeted receivers Week 14 at Cincinnati, taking the injured Andre Johnson's (hamstring) place as the preferred option on the outside. In fact, he and TE Owen Daniels tied for the team lead with 10 targets. Walter finished the day with six receptions (tied for his most in a game this season) for 76 yards (his second-most in a game this season) and had arguably the most important play of the Texans' season so far, catching a 6-yard pass in the end zone with two seconds left on the clock to deliver the team a 1-point victory.
Analysis: Actually, you could argue Walter's play was the biggest in team history considering it clinched the franchise's first ever division title. Is that part relevant for Fantasy owners? Not directly, but it shows Yates has confidence in Walter, which could help the wide receiver's numbers going forward. You have to figure Johnson will still be the go-to guy in the passing game once he returns from his hamstring injury, which could happen as soon as Week 15 against the Panthers, but owners in deeper Fantasy leagues will want to monitor Walter's numbers regardless just in case he's able to earn a larger share of the targets going forward. For now, he should remain on waivers in most Fantasy leagues.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter, who was listed as questionable for the contest because of an illness, is active for Week 14 at Cincinnati. He figures to play a bigger role in the passing game with Andre Johnson sidelined with a hamstring injury.
Analysis: Then again, Johnson missed six games with a different hamstring injury earlier this year, and Walter didn't do much then. And that was with Matt Schaub at quarterback, not rookie T.J. Yates. With an average of 9.5 receiving yards over his last four games and no touchdowns since Week 5, Walter is no more than a last resort in Fantasy.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter missed practice on Friday due to an illness. "It takes a lot to keep Kevin off the field," coach Gary Kubiak said. "Until he tells me (Saturday) morning that he's ready to go, I'm a little bit concerned. I know Kevin. He'll do everything he can to get there." Walter is officially questionable for Week 14 at Cincinnati.
Analysis: The Texans are already down WR Andre Johnson due to a hamstring injury, so losing Walter would be devastating. But it sounds as though it's a strong possibility. Walter thrived earlier in the season when Johnson was out, but he has just five catches in his last four games. QB T.J. Yates is now running the offense as well, so even if Walter plays Sunday, he is not a recommended Fantasy option.
News: Even with star WR Andre Johnson sidelined for more than a quarter with a hamstring injury, Texans WR Kevin Walter was hardly a contributor Week 13 against the Falcons. He was targeted four times in the contest, finishing with one catch for 12 yards. He now has a total of five catches for 38 yards in his last four games.
Analysis: Walter is a starter for the Texans, but clearly he isn't an integral part of the passing game. That doesn't figure to change with rookie T.J. Yates under center. Walter's production didn't improve all that much when Johnson missed six games with an earlier hamstring injury, so this latest injury shouldn't change his value either. Leave him on waivers for Week 14 at Cincinnati.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter had a quiet game Sunday at Jacksonville in Week 12 with just two catches for 15 yards. It was his only two targets of the game. It didn't help that Houston was down to third-string QB T.J. Yates for most of the game with Matt Leinart going down with a broken collarbone in the second quarter. Matt Schaub (foot) is out for the season.
Analysis: Walter has minimal Fantasy value in the majority of leagues. Ignore him in all formats in Week 13 against Atlanta.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter was once again held in check during the Week 10 win at Tampa Bay. Walter, starting with Andre Johnson still injured, caught just one pass for 6 yards in the game. It was his second consecutive game with a single catch as he went for one grab and 5 yards Week 9 against Cleveland.
Analysis: Walter has a couple touchdowns on the season and few decent games overall, but has been a highly inconsistent option for Fantasy owners. The Texans are on bye in Week 11 and return Week 12 at Jacksonville. The team could very likely have back the services of receiver Johnson at that point, which would severely limit the already low Fantasy value of Walter. Walter is not going to be a recommended Fantasy start Week 12 against the Jaguars.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter heads into Week 10 at Tampa Bay on the injury report with knee and ankle issues. That said, Walter is expected to play Sunday as he was a full participant in practice Wednesday. Walter is looking to make an impact against the Buccaneers after recording just one catch for 5 yards Week 9 against the Browns. Walter has two touchdowns on the year and has not scored since Week 5 against Oakland. Walter has done nothing since Andre Johnson went down injured.
Analysis: Walter does have a decent one-game history against Tampa. In 2007, Walter caught five passes for 47 yards and a TD against the Bucs. Tampa has been allowing plenty of Fantasy points to opposing receivers, but the Texans don't figure to beat the Bucs through the air. Instead, expect Tampa to get a heavy does of Ben Tate and Arian Foster on the ground. Walter is not a recommended Fantasy start for the Week 10 game.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter was held to one catch for 5 yards during a 30-12 win against the Browns in Week 9. He was targeted just once in the game.
Analysis: Walter came into the game dealing with a knee injury, but that didn't contribute to his poor performance. The Browns have a pretty good secondary and also Houston didn't need to throw a lot after getting up big early. We weren't expecting a big outing out of Walter, but this was surely disappointing. He will continue to have low-end Fantasy appeal heading into Week 10 at Tampa Bay.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter was cleared to play Week 9 vs. Cleveland after showing up on the injury report with a knee injury. He was listed as probable.
Analysis: Walter has a good history against his Week 9 opponent. Walter has scored in his last two games against Browns and has three touchdowns in six career games against them. He also has 19 catches for 217 yards. However, Cleveland has been very good against WRs in 2011, limiting them to 13.6 Fantasy points per week, which is second-lowest in the NFL. WRs have also totaled just three touchdowns against Cleveland this season. Walter remains at best a No. 4 Fantasy WR.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter (knee) was upgraded to probable for Week 9 vs. Cleveland. Walter has a good history against his Week 9 opponent.
Analysis: Walter has seen a boost in production lately with Andre Johnson sidelined. Well, Johnson isn't returning Week 9, so Walter will continue to be one of the team's top targets in the passing game. However, that makes him a target for DB Joe Haden, who is one of the best shutdown corners in the game. Haden was expected to shadow Johnson, but with Johnson out, then Walter could see a good dose of Haden on Sunday. Walter remains at best a No. 4 Fantasy WR.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter appeared on the practice report Thursday as a limited participant because of a knee injury. Walter, who has 19 catches for 238 yards and a touchdown in his past four games, has received additional playing time with star WR Andre Johnson still sidelined with a hamstring injury. Overall this season, Walter has managed 23 receptions for 287 yards and two touchdowns.
Analysis: Walter has a solid history against his Week 9 opponent -- the Cleveland Browns. He has scored in his past two games against the Browns and has three touchdowns in six career games versus them. He also has 19 catches for 217 yards. However, Cleveland has been very good against wideouts this year -- spearheaded by shutdown DB Joe Haden -- and is limiting opponents to 13.6 Fantasy points per week, which is second-lowest in the NFL. Wide receivers have also totaled just three touchdowns against Cleveland this season. Consider Walter a low-end Fantasy option, with minimal value if Johnson plays.

Analysis: Walter has 19 catches for 238 yards and one touchdown in his last four games. He has been one of Houston's top receivers with Andre Johnson sidelined. Johnson could be back Week 9 and Walter is probably hoping that happens. Why? Because if Johnson is out, then Walter will likely be shadowed by Joe Haden, who is a shutdown corner. Walter is still at best a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter had a solid game Sunday against the Jaguars in Week 8. Walter had five catches for 70 yards on nine targets, which led all of Houston's receiving options.
Analysis: Walter has done a nice job helping the Texans with Andre Johnson (hamstring) out. We expect Johnson to return in Week 9 against Cleveland, but Walter will be just a No. 3 Fantasy WR at best against the Browns even if Johnson is out.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter (knee), who was listed as probable for Week 8 against Jacksonville, is active for the game. Walter heads into his Week 8 hoping to make some plays. Walter has done well against the Jaguars with 22 catches for 332 yards and two touchdowns in his past five meetings.
Analysis: Andre Johnson is out again Week 8, so that helps Walter's Fantasy appeal. Jacksonville has allowed double digits in Fantasy points to five No. 1 receivers this season with Kenny Britt in Week 1, Santonio Holmes in Week 2, A.J. Green in Week 5, Mike Wallace in Week 6 and Anquan Boldin last week. Walter has struggled of late with nine catches for 87 yards and no touchdowns in his past two games. Consider Walter a sleeper Fantasy start Week 8.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter (knee) is listed as probable for Week 8 vs. Jacksonville. Walter heads into his Week 8 hoping to make some plays. Walter has done well against the Jaguars with 22 catches for 332 yards and two touchdowns in his past five meetings.

News: Texans WR Kevin Walter heads into his Week 8 matchup with the Jaguars hoping to make some plays. Walter has done well against the Jaguars in the past with 22 catches for 332 yards and two touchdowns in his past five meetings. And if Andre Johnson (hamstring) is out again, Walter could have increased Fantasy value.
Analysis: Walter and Jacoby Jones would again share the role as the No. 1 WR for the Texans if Johnson was out. Keep an eye on what happens with Johnson, but Walter could be considered a sleeper if Johnson sits again.
News: After getting targeted 14 times over the previous two games, Texans WR Kevin Walter stayed in the receiving mix in a Week 7 win over the Titans. Walter was targeted four times, making three catches for 35 yards.
Analysis: The nine-year veteran didn't have one of his better weeks, but the Texans relied heavily on their running game in Week 7, churning out 47 rushing plays for a net total of 222 yards. That didn't leave much room for Walter and the Texans' other receivers to make a big contribution. As long as Andre Johnson (hamstring) remains out, Walter may have some Fantasy value, but he is not reliable enough to be viewed as anything more than a No. 3 WR option.
News: In the two games that Texans WR Andre Johnson has missed with his hamstring injury, WR Kevin Walter has stepped up his involvement, getting more targets than any Houston receiver besides Jacoby Jones and Owen Daniels. In Week 7, Walter will go up against the Titans, whom he has had some recent success against. The last time that Walter faced Tennessee -- in Week 14 last season -- he made seven catches for 79 yards and a touchdown.
Analysis: Walter is no sure thing to repeat his last performance against the Titans, as he still has to share targets with Jones and Daniels, but it's a good sign that he has been getting more looks lately. There's enough potential for production that owners can view Walter as a No. 3 Fantasy WR for Week 7.
News: After having his best performance of the season a week ago, Texans WR Kevin Walter had another productive game in Week 6 against the Ravens. He caught six passes for 52 yards in the 29-14 loss. He was targeted eight times by QB Matt Schaub and had a long reception of 20 yards. Walter finished tied for second in receiving for Houston behind Jacoby Jones (76 yards).
Analysis: Walter has picked up his production the last two weeks with WR Andre Johnson out and is becoming a major part of the offense again. He has showed no signs of the shoulder injury that cost him a game earlier in the year, so he should continue to get better. The addition of Derrick Mason did not cut into his numbers much on Sunday but keep an eye on the situation going forward to make sure he does not become overlooked. Heading into Week 7 against the Titans, continue to view Walter as a No. 3 Fantasy WR.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter has been ruled active for Week 6 against the Ravens. He battled an illness earlier in the week. Baltimore ranks ninth in the league against the pass, giving up 212 yards per contest, and have allowed an average of 21.5 Fantasy points to opposing wideouts. When Walter faced the Ravens a year ago, he caught five passes for 57 yards.
Analysis: Walter did a quality job helping fill in for injured star WR Andre Johnson (hamstring) last week and averaged a season-high 16.2 yards per catch. He was targeted six times by QB Matt Schaub, but may lose some looks after the Texans acquired veteran WR Derrick Mason in a trade with the Jets this week. Consider Walter a No. 3 Fantasy WR for Week 6.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter is considered probable for Week 6 against Baltimore after battling an illness during practice this week. Walter is expected to play in Sunday's game and is coming off his finest outing of the season. The 30-year-old finished with season highs in receptions (five) and yards (81) in a loss to Oakland in Week 5. He also scored his second touchdown of the season during Houston's second loss in three games.
Analysis: Walter did a quality job helping fill in for injured star WR Andre Johnson (hamstring) and averaged a season-high 16.2 yards per carry. He was targeted six times by QB Matt Schaub, but may lose some looks after the Texans acquired veteran WR Derrick Mason in a trade with the Jets this week. Baltimore also ranks ninth in the league against the pass, allowing 212 yards per contest. The Ravens have also surrendered an average of 21.5 Fantasy points to opposing wideouts. Consider Walter a No. 3 Fantasy WR for Week 6.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter was held out of practice on Thursday. The team listed him out due to an illness. Walter had his best game of the season a week ago and will be looking to keep things going in Week 6 against the Ravens. Baltimore ranks ninth in the league against the pass, giving up 212 yards per contest, and have allowed an average of 21.5 Fantasy points to opposing wideouts. When Walter faced the Ravens a year ago, he caught five passes for 57 yards.
Analysis: Walter shined with WR Andre Johnson out a week ago as he caught five passes for 81 yards. He also added his second touchdown of the year. He could be a key cog in the offense again in Week 6 with Johnson listed as questionable so keep an eye on the situation going forward. But with as tough as the Ravens have been against the pass so far this season, consider Walter as more of a No. 3 Fantasy WR on Sunday. This illness does not appear to be something that would keep him out on Sunday.

News: Houston receiver Kevin Walter got a start on Sunday of Week 5 opposite Jacoby Jones as Andre Johnson missed the game against the Raiders. Walter made an impact as QB Matt Schaub found him for a 5-yard touchdown in the first quarter. Walter finished with five catches for 81 yards and the score. He was targeted six times by Schaub in the game. Jones managed just one catch for 9 yards.
Analysis: Walter clearly had his best performance of the season in the Week 5 loss. He scored his second touchdown of the season in the game. That said, despite his out-performing Jones in the game, Jones was still targeted way more times. Walter matches up against the Ravens in Baltimore in Week 6. The Ravens, coming off a bye, have tightened up against the pass in the last two weeks and have not given up over 55 yards receiving to the Rams or Jets since allowing Kenny Britt to total 135 yards and a TD in Week 2. That does not bode well for Walter, who has not exactly shined this season. That said, he scored without star receiver Johnson healthy in the Week 5 game. Johnson will still be out Week 6, so consider Walter a decent No. 3 Fantasy WR and bye-week replacement.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter could be in line for a nice Fantasy boost in Week 5 against Oakland. That is because the Texans will be without starting receiver Andre Johnson for the game. Walter will start opposite Jacoby Jones for Matt Schaub and the Texans. Of course, Walter did not make a single catch in Week 4 against Pittsburgh, and only has four catches all year for 49 yards and a touchdown. Facing the Raiders Week 5, Walter has 10 career receptions against them for 126 yards and no touchdowns.
Analysis: Walter really only has one big thing going for him in Week 5 and that is the absence of Johnson. Otherwise, we can't really endorse Walter much for the game against Oakland. Walter has been starting this season and still has done little for Schaub. Plus, the Raiders have been terrible against the run and Houston has a completely healthy Arian Foster to gain tons of yardage for the offense. We doubt Houston will throw too much against the Raiders, which are allowing the 10th-most Fantasy points per game to opposing receivers. Both Wes Welker and Deion Branch scored against the Raiders for the Patriots last week, but we still can't recommend Walter outside being a No. 4 Fantasy option for the Week 5 game.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter had no catches Sunday against the Steelers on one target. Walter, however, could be needed more now that Andre Johnson (hamstring) was hurt and could miss some time.
Analysis: Keep an eye on Walter going forward, especially if Johnson is out for Week 5 against Oakland. Walter is worth adding in deeper leagues if Johnson is expected to miss some time. He is owned in just 8 percent of leagues on CBSSports.com prior to Week 4.
News: Despite being limited at practice throughout the week, Houston WR Kevin Walter was active for the team's Week 4 meeting with Pittsburgh on Sunday. Walter was listed as probable on the injury report after he was hobbled by a shoulder and thigh injury.
Analysis: Walter turned in a strong showing against New Orleans last Sunday and collected his first touchdown pass of the season on a tipped ball. The 30-year-old has recorded at least 50 receptions in four straight seasons, but might have a difficult time reaching that total if he continues to deal with injuries. For now, Fantasy owners should leave him stashed in deeper formats until he's completely healthy.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter (shoulder) was limited in practice for the third straight day on Friday and is listed as probable for Week 4 against the Steelers. Walter was also bothered by a shoulder and thigh injury last week, but was still active for the Texans' Week 3 game.
Analysis: Walter, who is in his ninth NFL season, turned in a strong showing against the Saints last week and collected his first touchdown pass of the season on a tipped ball. The 30-year-old has recorded at least 50 receptions in four straight seasons, but might have a difficult time reaching that total if he continues to deal with injuries. For now, Fantasy owners should leave him stashed in deeper formats until he's completely healthy.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter was still a limited participant in practice Thursday as he continues to deal with a shoulder injury after he broke it in Week 1 against Indianapolis. Walter has missed one game as a result of the injury, but was able to play last Sunday at New Orleans.

News: Houston WR Kevin Walter was limited in practice Wednesday with a shoulder injury as the team prepares for its Week 4 matchup against Pittsburgh. Walter was also bothered by a shoulder and thigh injury last week, but was still active for the Texans' Week 3 game.
Analysis: Walter hauled in his first touchdown of the season during last Sunday's outing against the Saints. He also finished with three receptions for 35 yards -- both season highs. Walter remains in a crowded receiving corps and should be considered a low-end option in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter scored his first touchdown of the season on a pass that wasn't intended for him Week 3 at New Orleans. With the Texans driving down the field for another score in the fourth quarter, QB Matt Schaub rifled the ball over the middle to TE Joel Dreessen. Saints LB Jonathan Casillas bobbled the potential interception, putting the ball in the lap of Kevin Walter. Walter snagged it and darted into the end zone for a 20-yard score. He finished with three catches for 35 yards.
Analysis: Though Walter is a starter for the Texans, he doesn't get nearly the looks that Andre Johnson gets. The big games have been few and far between for him over his career, so you wouldn't want to read too much into his starting status or this one touchdown. Every now and then, he'll have a six- or seven-catch game just because he's on the field so often, making him worth owning in deeper Fantasy leagues. But you certainly wouldn't want to start him Week 4 against the Steelers.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter, who was limited in practice this week by shoulder and thigh injuries, is active for Week 3 at New Orleans.
Analysis: Walter is often QB Matt Schaub's second choice, but he's a distant second to Andre Johnson. With Jacoby Jones and Owen Daniels also getting some looks, Walter isn't a reliable enough Fantasy performer to start in most Fantasy leagues.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter (shoulder, thigh) was limited in practice all week, but he is listed as probable for Week 3 against the Saints and is expected to return to the lineup after missing one game.
Analysis: Getting Walter back is key seeing how fellow WR Jacoby Jones is listed as questionable with an injury of his own. Walter has had success in the Texans' offense, but he remains a very low-end Fantasy start heading into Week 3.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter returned to practice on Wednesday, less than two weeks after a shoulder bruise that was originally thought to have been broken. "Kevin is one the toughest guys we've got," said offensive coordinator Rick Dennison of Walter, who is currently questionable for Sunday's game at the Saints. Walter said he "absolutely" expects to play Sunday and had little soreness in his shoulder Wednesday. "They'll probably have to numb it up on Sunday, but it is what it is," he said.
Analysis: Earlier in the week, Texans coach Gary Kubiak said Walter was "pretty close" to playing Week 2 against the Dolphins and his outlook for Week 3 against the Saints is looking up. It appears as though as long as the practice week goes well, then Walter should play. Walter returns at a good time as the Texans probably will be in a high-scoring affair with the Saints. However, he is still a low-end Fantasy start coming off the injury.
News: Texans coach Gary Kubiak said WR Kevin Walter (shoulder, quadriceps) was "pretty close" to playing Week 2 against the Dolphins and his outlook for Week 3 against the Saints is looking up. "There's a good chance that Kevin will be back this week," Kubiak said Monday.
Analysis: The early reports were Walter was expected to be sidelined several weeks after getting hurt in Week 1, but apparently those reports were blown out of proportion. Walter returns at a good time as the Texans probably will be in a high-scoring affair with the Saints. However, he is still a low-end Fantasy start coming off the injury.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter has been ruled inactive for Week 2 against the Dolphins. Walter was unable to practice this week after hurting his shoulder in last week's season opener. Jacoby Jones will start in his place.
Analysis: Walter was unable to practice this week, so that fact that he was ruled inactive doesn't come as much of a surprise. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his progress over the coming days to see if he will be back for Week 3. Walter can be considered a low-end option, when healthy.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter (shoulder) didn't return to practice Friday and will be a game-time decision for Week 2 against the Dolphins, according to coach Gary Kubiak. If Walter is able to play he appears to have a very favorable matchup. Miami allowed 622 total yards of offense in Week 1 against New England, with 516 of those coming through the air.
Analysis: The Texans are treating Walter's injury as a bad bruise, but you have to think that he is probably unlikely to play Week 2. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his progress leading up to kickoff on Sunday, However, it might not be a bad idea to seek out healthier alternatives, just in case. Jacoby Jones will likely start in his absence.
News: Texans RB Derrick Ward (ankle) and WR Kevin Walter (shoulder) did not practice on Thursday. The Texans will make a decision on Friday if the two will play in Sunday's road tilt against the Dolphins. Jacoby Jones will start if Walter is not available.
Analysis: The Texans are treating Walter's injury as a bad bruise, but you have to think that he is probably unlikely to play Week 2. Fantasy owners should definitely be looking to healthier alternatives in Week 2.
News: Texans coach Gary Kubiak said on Monday that WR Kevin Walter's prognosis has improved after it was believed he suffered a broken left shoulder. "He does not have a fracture. Being treated as a bad bruise right now," said Kubiak.
Analysis: The initial timetable set for Walter was 10-12 weeks. While it is possible he could return prior to that, it is also clear he will not be back any time soon. Continue to monitor his progress. Jacoby Jones, who replaced Walter after the injury, was involved late and could be more involved going forward in his absence.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter came down with one catch in the Week 1 win over the Colts. Walter caught one pass for 14 yards and was targeted twice in the game by QB Matt Schaub. Walter left the game with a left shoulder injury and did not return. It was later announced that Walter will miss 10-12 weeks as he broke his left shoulder.
Analysis: Walter watched as Andre Johnson exploded and Jacoby Jones became the No. 2 option in the passing game. Jones, who replaced Walter after the injury, was involved late and could be more involved going forward as Walter will now miss 10-12 weeks of action. Fantasy owners can drop or continue ignoring Walter in all formats now that he's going to be useless for some time.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter was relatively quiet in Week 17 against the Jaguars. Walter was targeted five times in the 34-17 victory and finished with three receptions for 54 yards. He averaged 18 yards per reception and had a long of 23 yards in the contest.
Analysis: Walter started hot in 2010, catching a touchdown pass in each of his first three games. However, he cooled off considerably after that and his production was very sporadic over the finale few weeks of the season. While he has proved he can be a viable Fantasy option at times, Walter simply doesn't produce enough on a consistent basis to be worth starting week in and week out. He will have low-end Fantasy appeal heading into 2011.
News: With top-WR Andre Johnson (ankle) likely out for Week 17 against the Jaguars, Kevin Walter could see an increased role for Sunday's season finale. Jacksonville ranks 26th in the league against the pass, giving up over 250 yards per contest, and have allowed an average of 22.9 Fantasy points to opposing wideouts. When the division foes met earlier in the year, Walter had six catches for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Analysis: Despite just posting a 14-yard grab a week ago, Walter has put together a few nice games this season, but has been very inconsistent for the most part. He hardly saw looks from QB Matt Schuab, even though Johnson was out for that game too, and could be in for another slow performance in Week 17. Houston will likely want to pound the rock with RB Arian Foster against the Jaguars lack-luster defense, making Walter a risky start in most Fantasy formats. Consider the 29-year-old a low-end Fantasy WR for Week 17.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter was not much of a factor in Week 16 against the Broncos. Walter was targeted twice in the 24-23 loss and finished with just one reception for 14 yards.
Analysis: Walter has put together a few nice games this season, but has been very inconsistent for the most part. There was some thought that he could see a few extra passes thrown his way with Andre Johnson out with an ankle injury, but Matt Schaub hardly looked in his direction. Walter will be looking to end his season on a positive note when the Jaguars come to town in Week 17. Walter racked up six receptions for 90 yards and touchdown in the team's first meeting this season. However, his up-and-down season makes him a very risky start in Fantasy, especially at this time of year.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter, who caught his fifth touchdown pass of season last week against Tennessee, will be looking to get back into the end zone in Week 16 against the Broncos. Denver enters Sunday's matchup ranked 22 in pass defense, allowing 227.6 yards per contest. The Broncos have surrendered 25 touchdowns through the air and are allowing an average of 19.6 Fantasy points to opposing WRs on the season.
Analysis: Walter has put together a few nice games this season, but has had a few stinkers as well. Andre Johnson is such a presence in the passing game that few other receivers get an opportunity to contribute. However, that could change this week as Johnson may not play on Sunday because of an ankle injury. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor Johnson's status leading up to kickoff. If Johnson doesn't play, Fantasy owners may want to take a shot on Walter.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter, who had topped 50 receiving yards only three times all season, averaging 29.5 over his last four games, led his team with 79 yards on seven catches Week 15 at Tennessee. He even scored a touchdown on a 4-yard strike over the middle in the fourth quarter. He had 10 targets; only Andre Johnson had more with 12.
Analysis: Walter has been a useful Fantasy option in the past, but Johnson has such a presence in the passing game that few other receivers get an opportunity to contribute. And it's not like Jacoby Jones and Owen Daniels are going away either. Walter's size and starting role make him capable of putting up these numbers any given week, but he's still too inconsistent to start in most Fantasy leagues. Consider him a No. 4 option for Week 16 at Denver.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter, who was able to practice in full all week despite a knee injury, is active for Week 15 at Tennessee. He had one catch for 12 yards when the two teams last met in Week 12.
Analysis: Walter has been an inconsistent part of the Texans passing game all season. The Texans might need to pass more in this game than they did in a lopsided win in Week 12, but Walter is still a long shot for big numbers. Only three times this season has he topped 50 receiving yards. He remains just a last resort in Fantasy.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter, who is contending with a minor knee injury but was able to practice in full Wednesday, had only one catch for 12 yards when the Texans hosted the Titans in Week 12, but he has a second crack at them when the Texans travel to Tennessee in Week 15. The Titans rank 26th against the pass, allowing 244.3 yards per game. Of course, they allow only 18.7 Fantasy points per game to wide receivers, 11th-lowest in the NFL.
Analysis: The main reason Walter had such a bad performance in Week 12 was because QB Matt Schaub threw for only 178 yards. Of course, that was in a lopsided 20-0 affair where the Texans could lean on RB Arian Foster all afternoon. Sunday's game should be closer now that the Titans have Kerry Collins under center, opening the door for Walter to make a contribution. He still has an uphill battle to climb, though. Only three times this season has he topped 50 receiving yards. He remains just a last resort in Fantasy despite the good matchup.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter had a decent performance in Week 14 against the Ravens, but it could have been much more productive. Late in the third quarter, QB Matt Schaub found his wideout in the corner of the end zone, but Walter was unable to get both feet down as his knee was clearly out of bounds upon review. Despite missing out on the score, Walter finished with five catches for 52 yards in the 34-28 loss. He was targeted nine times by Schaub, third-most on Houston.
Analysis: Walter has his best game in weeks on Monday night and benefited from Schaub attempting a season-high 62 passes. After scoring a touchdown in each of the first three games this season, he has just one over the last 10 contests. Hopefully he can take this positive performance forward into next Sunday against the Titans. When the division foes met earlier in the year, the 29-year-old caught just one pass for 12 yards. Fantasy owners should consider Walter a low-end option for Week 15.
News: When the Ravens and Texans last met in 2008, Houston WR Kevin Walter sprinted past Ed Reed for a 60-yard touchdown on a crossing route. The ball was in my hands and I had a chance to run with it, Walter said. That was a play to remember. Walter hopes to make more memories in Week 14 when the two sides meet again. The Ravens have done very well against WRs in 2010, limiting them to 18.8 Fantasy points per week, which is tied for ninth lowest in the NFL. Although, nine receivers have totaled 60-plus receiving yards against Baltimore this season.
Analysis: Walter finished the 2008 game against Baltimore with 85 yards and a touchdown. Fantasy owners would kill for that kind of production from Walter in this matchup against Baltimore. Walter has been very inconsistent for the Texans and Fantasy owners in 2010 and it's so hard to trust him in Week 14 since he will be facing a very good defense. Start Walter at your own risk.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter was able to haul in four passes in the Week 13 loss to the Eagles. He racked up 33 yards on the receptions while being targeted six times from QB Matt Schaub.
Analysis: Walter has been a very pedestrian WR this season aside from two over-achieving performances ( Week 2 and Week 10). His inconsistencies this year have been a major disappointment for owners, but there is a small glimmer of hope moving forward. The team's No. 1 WR Andre Johnson re-aggravated his ankle on Thursday night and he will have an MRI in the coming days. If Johnson is limited in any way in the Week 14 game against the Ravens, expect Walter's Fantasy value to rise. As it stands now, he's nothing more than a low-end option.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter (calf) will play in the Thursday night game against the Eagles, as he is not among the listed inactives for the Week 13 game. He was listed as questionable heading into the matchup and saw limited practice time this week. Philadelphia's defense is stout against opposing WRs, and has only allowed two to eclipse the 100-yard mark all season.
Analysis: Walter had just one catch for 12 yards in Week 12. You could say the injury limited him, but even if he was healthy, we aren't sure he wouldn't make that much more of an impact. He has been inconsistent all season and it has frustrated Fantasy owners along with fellow WR Jacoby Jones. Andre Johnson will not be suspended for his actions in Week 12, so Walter will be at best the No. 2 receiver for Houston. Consider Walter a low-end Fantasy WR for Week
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter said he injured his calf in the first quarter against the Titans in Week 12 when FS Michael Griffin struck his lower leg with his knee during a cut block. I was limping around most of the game, he said. Walter expects to play Thursday (Week 13) against the Eagles after returning to limited practice reps on Tuesday and Wednesday after sitting out on Monday. Still, he is listed as questionable heading into the matchup.
I was limping around most of the game, he said. Walter expects to play Thursday (Week 13) against the Eagles after returning to limited practice reps Tuesday.
Analysis: Walter had just one catch for 12 yards in Week 12. You could say the injury limited him, but even if he was healthy, we aren't sure he wouldn't make that much more of an impact. He has been inconsistent all season and it has frustrated Fantasy owners. Andre Johnson will not be suspended for his actions in Week 12, so Walter will be at best the No. 2 receiver for Houston. Consider Walter a low-end Fantasy WR for Week 13.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter did not practice on Monday because of a knee injury. Walter had just one catch for 12 yards in Week 12 against the Titans. The Texans travel to Philadelphia to face the Eagles in Week 13 on Thursday night.
Analysis: Walter's back to being an unreliable, unworthy Fantasy option as Arian Foster and Joel Dreessen have picked up some of the receiving slack over Houston's last two games. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor his progress over the next day or two too see if he will be able to on Thursday. However, we do not starting him against Philadelphia.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter had a lousy Week 12 game vs. the Titans. Walter caught just a 12-yard pass, one of two passes thrown in his direction in the contest.
Analysis: Walter's back to being an unreliable, unworthy Fantasy option as Arian Foster and Joel Dreessen have picked up some of the receiving slack over Houston's last two games. Walter shouldn't be a part of your Fantasy roster at this point.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter, who has just one game with more than 40 yards receiving in his last five, will try to show up in Week 12 against the Titans. Tennessee ranks just 26th against the pass this season, allowing an average of 258.7 yards and 16 total touchdowns. They also gave up 106 yards and a touchdown to Santana Moss last week.
Analysis: Walter teased Fantasy owners with his 144-yard performance in Week 2 and then vanished into insignificance. He is still owned in 32 percent of leagues, which shows that a good chunk of people think he will get back to contributing this season. If you must, start Walter as a flex option in deeper formats, but don't give him any more respect than that.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter had trouble breaking loose in Week 11 against the Jets. He was held to two catches for 16 yards, with his longest gain going 13 yards. Walter was targeted six times in the game, including on a deep pass that he beat the Jets secondary on. However, Walter lost the ball in the sun or else would have had an 84-yard touchdown.
Analysis: It's really disappointing that Walter couldn't break free against the Jets seeing how all the attention was put on stopping WR Andre Johnson. It's also disappointing that Walter couldn't follow up a strong performance in Week 10 with another one in Week 11. Inconsistency has plagued him all season. Consider Walter a low-end Fantasy option heading into Week 12, when the Texans play the Titans.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter was listed as active for Week 11's game at the Jets. He had been listed as probable despite a knee issue.
Analysis: Walter has been targeted just 39 times this season, but he has managed to make 28 catches, four of which have been for touchdowns. He has a tough matchup in Week 11, but he could be useful as a No. 3 option with decent matchups in future weeks.
News: With Andre Johnson likely to see a good deal of man to man coverage from Darrelle Revis in Week 11 against New York, the offense may need WR Kevin Walter -- who is listed as probable with a knee issue -- to produce vs. Jets CB Antonio Cromartie. Those corners are the best in the league, Walter said. (Antonio) is a long, rangy guy. Walter needs to play an integral role for the Texans up-tempo offense to be effective. The starting receiver snapped a streak of three games without a catch with six catches for 90 yards against the Jaguars in Week 10. Its just a matter of getting opportunities, Walter said.
Analysis: Walter was not active against the Jets in Week 1 last season because of a hamstring injury, so the only time he faced New York was in 2006, when he totaled two catches for 22 yards. He looks for better results this time around. The Jets have had some struggles against the pass this season, allowing WRs to average 22.4 Fantasy points per week, which is 10th highest in the NFL. Wide receivers have notched 10 touchdowns against New York. Walter has four receiving touchdowns this season and even went off for 144 yards in Week 2. However, his inconsistency makes it tough on Fantasy owners. Unless your other receivers have horrible matchups, Walter remains a low-end Fantasy start for Week 11.

News: Texans WR Kevin Walter will face the Jets for the second time in his career in Week 11. Walter was not active against the Jets in Week 1 last season because of a hamstring injury, so the only time he faced New York was in 2006, when he totaled two catches for 22 yards. He looks for better results this time around. The Jets have had some struggles against the pass this season, allowing WRs to average 22.4 Fantasy points per week, which is 10th highest in the NFL. Wide receivers have notched 10 touchdowns against New York.
Analysis: Walter re-emerged in the Texans' passing game in Week 10 against the Jaguars after going three games without a catch. The Texans desperately need some alternate receiving options behind Andre Johnson and Walter is a prime candidate. He has four receiving touchdowns this season and even went off for 144 yards in Week 2. However, his inconsistency makes it tough on Fantasy owners. Unless your other receivers have horrible matchups, Walter remains a low-end Fantasy start for Week 11.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter came into Week 10 against the Jaguars in desperate need of a big game. Well, he got it. Walter ended a slump of going without a catch at three games, as he finished with six catches for 90 yards and one touchdown in Week 10. Walter, who hadn't recorded a reception since Week 5, ended his slump early with a pair of 16-yard catches on the first drive. He recorded his first touchdown in six games when he was awarded an 18-yard score in the fourth quarter after a replay. Walter caught all of his six targets.
Analysis: It was definitely disappointing to see Walter struggle after he opened the season with a touchdown in three straight games. But after his performance in Week 10, you have to think QB Matt Schaub is gaining confidence again in Walter. The Texans play the Jets in Week 11. That is definitely a tough matchup, so we wouldn't be surprised if Walter has a bad game, but he is worth keeping tabs on for when Houston has a favorable matchup.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter has had some of the best games of his career against the Jaguars, his Week 10 opponent. Walter has 40 catches for 485 yards in his career against Jacksonville, which are both career highs. He also has three touchdowns, which is tied for a career best. Walter scored two touchdowns in a 2008 game against Jacksonville, which has also tied a career high for one game. He had 12 catches for 160 yards in a game against Jacksonville in 2007 as well.
Analysis: Walter could use a big game after going without a catch in three straight contests. It's hard to figure out what is going on with Walter, who is still in the Texans' starting lineup. Up until Week 9 against the Chargers, he was getting targeted on offense. He just wasn't producing. After scoring a touchdown in three straight games to open the season, Walter has fallen off the map and is no longer a reliable Fantasy option. You start him at your own risk in Week 10.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter started Sunday's game against San Diego in Week 9, but he did not record a catch or have a target. It was the second game in a row without a catch.
Analysis: Walter is not worth owning in any Fantasy leagues. Even with a good start to this season with a touchdown in his first three games and a favorable matchup in Week 10 at Jacksonville, Walter is not being involved in the offense. Don't start him against the Jaguars in the majority of leagues.
News: After receiving few chances to catch the ball over the past several games, Texans WR Kevin Walter was targeted five times against the Colts but didn't have a catch. "I had some opportunities last week, and I've just got to do a better job," Walter said.
Analysis: Walter has three touchdown grabs on the year but they all came in the first three weeks of the season. He is too inconsistent to trust at this point so consider better options against the Chargers and their No. 1 ranked pass defense in Week 9.
News: After not catching a pass for the first time this season a week ago, Texans WR Kevin Walter needed a big game in Week 8 against the Colts. That did not happen. Walter did not record a catch for the second straight game in the 30-17 loss on Monday night. He was targeted for five passes from QB Matt Schaub but was unable to haul any of them in.
Analysis: Walter had some passes thrown in way on Monday night but was unable to record a catch for the second consecutive game and has not stated in a game since Week 5. The Colts put constant pressure on Schaub in Week 8 but he was able to complete some passes to other receivers once he got some time in the pocket. Fantasy owners have to be frustrated at this point, and rightfully so. Walter has three touchdown grabs on the year but they all came in the first three weeks of the season. News: Texans WR Kevin Walter did not see a single pass thrown his way in his last game and will face off against the Colts in Week 8. Indianapolis ranks 12th in the league against the pass, giving up over 206 passing yards per game, and has given up an average of 20 Fantasy points to opposing wideouts this season. Walter had two catches for 29 yards and a touchdown the last time these two teams met in Week 1.
Analysis: Walter caught a touchdown pass in each of the first three games this season but has seen his numbers diminish significantly since. He has just six catches for 59 yards over the last three games, including being shut out in Week 6. Hopefully the bye week gave Houston enough time to figure out how to get Walter involved in the offense, but he doesn't not appear to be a safe play in Week 8. Fantasy owners should leave Walter on the bench for Monday night's game against the Colts.
News: After catching a touchdown pass in each of his first three games this season, including going for 144 yards on 11 catches Week 2 at Washington, Houston WR Kevin Walter did not even see a ball come his way in the Week 6 win over Kansas City. Quarterback Matt Schaub did not even target Walter once in the game and Jacoby Jones only got four catches for 45 yards. Most of the passes went to Andre Johnson and Owen Daniels in the 35-31 win.
Analysis: Walter has six catches for 59 yards in his last three games and the production keeps going south. That does not bode well for his Fantasy value and owners might consider cutting ties with him at this point. That said, keep him grounded in Week 7 for sure with the Texans on bye.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter has not been targeted a whole bunch by QB Matt Schaub this season. Only targeted 28 times in five games, Walter has still been able to record 22 receptions for 266 yards and three touchdowns. That said, Walter is coming off his worst effort of the season and has only managed six catches for 59 yards and no scores in his last two games against Oakland and the Giants. In fact, he's been at 35 receiving yards or less in four of his five games. He caught 11 passes for 144 yards at Washington in the other game Week 2. Walter and the Texans host the Chiefs Week 6.
Analysis: Kansas City kept Peyton Manning down in Week 5 and limited Reggie Wayne to six catches for 75 yards. If you compare Wayne to Andre Johnson, that makes Walter more like Pierre Garcon or Austin Collie. Neither of those two scored or went over 60 yards receiving against the Chiefs, which are allowing just under 140 yards receiving per game to opposing wide receiving corps. Walter has only really been awesome for one game this season and the Texans have struggled to throw the ball in recent weeks. Combine that with playing the Chiefs in Week 6 and Walter can only be recommended for Fantasy use as, at best, a No. 3 Fantasy option.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter caught two passes for 24 yards in Week 5 against the Giants. He had five passes thrown his way. Walter has failed to total 40 yards in all but one of his first five games.
Analysis: Walter had a monster performance in Week 2 at Washington with 11 catches for 144 yards in a game in which Matt Schaub threw for nearly 500 yards. He also caught a touchdown in his first three games, but has dropped off significantly in his last three games, making him no better than an emergency stopgap measure for deeper leagues to be used based on matchups. The Texans may find it tough to sling the ball around in Week 6 against a surprisingly tough Chiefs defense.
News: With Andre Johnson (ankle) questionable for the third straight week, WR Kevin Walter said his mentality doesn't change much as the primary receiver heading into Week 5 against the Giants. "It changes a little without Dre in there, but everyone needs to step up. Not one guy can replace Andre," Walter said. Walter failed to record a touchdown in Week 4 against the Raiders for the first time in four games this season. He looks to get back on track in Week 5. New York has allowed four WRs -- Steve Smith (CAR), Reggie Wayne, Austin Collie and Kenny Britt -- to score touchdowns this season. However, the Giants have not allowed a WR to break 100 yards in a game.
Analysis: It seems barring a setback that Johnson will return to the lineup in Week 5, but he still remains a game-time decision. Johnson's return would actually help Walter since most of the attention would be put on stopping Johnson. In the one game Johnson sat out this season Walter didn't find the end zone. Consider Walter a low-end No. 3 Fantasy WR or flex option for Week 5. He has caught 20 of the 23 passes thrown his way this season.

New York has allowed four WRs -- Steve Smith (CAR), Reggie Wayne, Austin Collie and Kenny Britt -- to score touchdowns this season. Analysis: There is a chance Andre Johnson (ankle) returns to the lineup in Week 5, which would actually help Walter since most of the attention would be put on stopping Johnson. In the one game Johnson sat out this season Walter didn't find the end zone. Consider Walter a low-end No. 3 Fantasy WR or flex option for Week 5. He has caught 20 of the 23 passes thrown his way this season.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter was relatively quiet in Week 4 against the Raiders. Walter had just four receptions for 35 yards in the 31-24 victory. He was targeted six times and averaged 8.8 yards a reception. He had a long of 13 yards and did not score in the contest.
Analysis: Walter was kept out of the end zone for the first time all season on Sunday. Still, he continues to be one of Matt Schaub's favorite targets and has outplayed Jacoby Jones this season. With Andre Johnson still nursing an ankle injury and Jones leaving with a leg injury, Walter could find himself as the No. 1 receiving option. Fantasy owners should monitor the health of the Texans' receivers over the course of the week. Walter has 20 catches for 242 yards and three touchdowns on the season. Consider him a No. 3 Fantasy option heading into Week 5 against the Giants.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter will look to extend his scoring streak in Week 4 against the Raiders. Walter has 16 receptions for 207 yards so far this season and has scored a touchdown in each of his three first games. However, that could prove to be more challenging this week as he faces an Oakland defense that currently ranks second in passing defense, allowing just 127.7 yards per game. The Raiders have allowed an average of 18 Fantasy points to opposing WRs over the first three weeks of the season.
Analysis: Walter outplayed Jacoby Jones so far this season and has seem to become one of Matt Schaub's favorite receivers. The Texans will continue to throw the ball and he could see even more targets this week, with Andre Johnson dealing with a sprained ankle. Consider Walter a solid No. 3 Fantasy WR heading into Week 4 against the Raiders. Fantasy owners should continue to monitor the status of Johnson over the course of this week. If Johnson can't play, Walter's Fantasy value would increase.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter continues to play well in 2010. Walter, who came into Sunday's game against Dallas in Week 3 with 13 catches for 173 yards and two touchdowns, scored for the third game in a row. Walter finished the game against Dallas with three catches for 34 yards, and his touchdown came in garbage time in the fourth quarter from QB Matt Schaub. He was targeted four times.
Analysis: Walter continues to outplay Jacoby Jones, who had five catches for 51 yards, and he's looking like a quality Fantasy option. The Texans will continue to throw the ball, and Walter should continue to see plenty of targets. Houston is at Oakland in Week 4, and we'll find out if Walter can score for the fourth game in a row. Consider him a solid No. 3 Fantasy WR in all leagues against the Raiders.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter's production in the first two games of the season hasn't gone unnoticed by Fantasy owners. His ownership has risen to 72 percent on CBSSports.com heading into Week 3 against Dallas, and he will look to play well for the third week in a row. In Week 1 against the Colts, Walter had two catches for 29 yards and a touchdown. In Week 2 against Washington, Walter caught 11 passes for 144 yards and scored a touchdown. He was targeted 11 times. This week he faces a Dallas secondary that has allowed only one touchdown to opposing wide receivers, but three receivers (Santana Moss, Devin Hester and Johnny Knox) have each gained more than 77 yards receiving.
Analysis: Fantasy owners were smart to jump on Walter in the majority of leagues since it looks like he will continue to play a prominent role for the Texans even with the emergence of Andre Johnson. Jacoby Jones will continue to cut into Walter's targets, but Walter can be considered a low-end No. 3 Fantasy WR in this matchup. If he continues to play like this, then Walter's value will rise and his ownership will likely approach 100 percent.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter had a big game in Week 2 against the Redskins. Walter caught 11 passes for 144 yards and scored a touchdown in the victory. He was targeted 11 times on Sunday and had two big catches that helped the Texans overcome a 17-point deficit late in the third quarter. Matt Schaub hit Walter for a six-yard touchdown pass on the last play of the third quarter to cut the Redskin's lead to 27-17. Then on Houston's next drive Walter caught two passes, including a 35-yarder down the middle of the field that led to a Texans field goal.
Analysis: Walter only had two catches in Week 1, but certainly stepped up on Sunday. It appears he has now become Schaub's new second favorite target behind Andre Johnson, as was evidenced by his 11 targets. Despite his strong performance in Week 2, Walter has never been able to consistently put these types of performances over his career. Fantasy owners should consider him a low-end No. 3 WR heading into his Week 3 matchup against the Cowboys. However, Fantasy owners should continue to monitor the health of Johnson this week. If Johnson can't play on Sunday, Walter's value will increase.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter was ruled active for Week 2 against the Redskins. Walter landed on the injury report this week with a hip injury.
Analysis: Walter had just two catches for 29 yards during Week 1, but did hook up QB Matt Schaub for a 22-yard touchdown play in the second quarter. In two career games against Washington, Walter has averaged 11.5 yards receiving a game with no touchdowns. It appears Jacoby Jones is the No. 2 option for Schaub and the better Fantasy option at this point. Fantasy owners should continue to stash Walters for now. We don't recommend starting him in Week 2.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter is listed as probable for Week 2 against the Redskins with a hip injury. Walter had just two catches for 29 yards during Week 1, but did hook up QB Matt Schaub for a 22-yard touchdown play in the second quarter. In two career games against Washington, Walter has averaged 11.5 yards receiving a game with no touchdowns.
Analysis: The Texans did not need to throw the ball much during Week 1, as they gashed the Colts for 257 yards on the ground. Walter has been dealing with a hip injury this week in practice, but should be able to play on Sunday. Despite catching a touchdown pass against the Colts, it appears Jacoby Jones is the No. 2 option for Schaub and the better Fantasy option at this point. Fantasy owners should continue to stash Walters for now. We don't recommend starting him in Week 2.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter was listed on the injury report for Week 2 with a hip injury. He practiced in full Wednesday though, and should be fine for the game in Washington.
Analysis: Walter found the end zone in Week 1 against the Colts, but finished with just three catches in the game. With the emergence of Arian Foster, Walter's presence in the Texans offense might well diminish this season. It's still early though, so continue to stash Walters away in deeper Fantasy formats for the time being. He's not worth starting for now, however.
News: The Houston Texans did not take to the air often to beat the Colts in Week 1 on Sunday from Reliant Stadium. Instead, Houston used a 231-yard rushing performance from Arian Foster to beat the Colts, 34-24. That said, wide receiver Kevin Walter definitely came up huge. Walter connected with quarterback Matt Schaub in the second quarter for a 22-yard touchdown play. That score put the Texans ahead 13-0 at the time. Walter finished with just two catches for 29 yards in the game to tie with Jacoby Jones for second-best on the team behind Andre Johnson's three catches for 33 yards.
Analysis: When Johnson goes for just 33 yards as the team's leading receiver, something is amiss in Houston. But the Texans actually beat the Colts behind the impressive performance by the running back Foster. We fully expect them to throw more in Week 2 at Washington. Walter was wide open over the middle of the field to make his touchdown reception and Schaub found him in stride. That said, we still believe that Jones is likely the better Fantasy option in Week 2. Walter should be considered a No. 3 or 4 Fantasy WR heading into Washington.
News: While Houston WR Kevin Walter remains ahead of Jacoby Jones on the depth chart, Fantasy owners should probably consider Jones the better option. That said, Walter has a pretty solid history against the Colts, his Week 1 opponents. Walter, who spent a good deal of last season injured, only managed two games against two teams last year, the Colts being one. In two games against them, Walter caught a season-high 12 passes for 140 yards. Walter has only scored one career touchdown against Indianapolis over nine career games, however.
Analysis: While the Colts' pass defense was not a dominating unit last season, they did limit the times opponents got into the end zone against them. We're certain the Texans will be throwing the ball around the yard Week 1, and with them likely gunning for Andre Johnson, there should be passes headed Walter's way. That said, Jones is likely the better Fantasy option. Depth chart or not, Walter should be considered nothing more than a No. 3 or 4 Fantasy WR option for Week 1.
News: Despite a strong push in training camp by WR Jacoby Jones for the starting job opposite of Andre Johnson, Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said Kevin Walter is still listed ahead of Jones on the depth chart for the No. 2 receiver position. "(Jacoby) has been very competitive," Kubiak said. "In my opinion, we have three starters." Walter has caught two passes for 48 yards this preseason.
Analysis: Walter's numbers dropped off a bit last year, but over the past three seasons he's averaged 59 receptions for 770 yards and 4.6 touchdowns. It certainly helps playing opposite of Johnson, which assures a receiver he will never be double teamed. We expect Walter to start this year and put up similar numbers in a prolific Texans' passing game. Consider him a No. 4 Fantasy option at WR.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter is getting stiff competition from Jacoby Jones as he attempts to hold down his starting job opposite Andre Johnson. "Kevin and Jacoby are going head to head," head coach Gary Kubiak told NFL.com. "That's the bottom line. Kevin's the starter; he's earned that right. We've got a heck of a player (Jones) pushing to be a starter in this league. We're putting them right down the middle. It's very competitive."
Analysis: Walter had an off year in 2010, as his receptions, yards-per-catch and touchdowns all dropped from previous years. But he's still capable of putting up big numbers in the Texans' high-octane offense, especially with opposing defenses distracted by the mercurial Johnson. Walter is the favorite to start this season but is nothing more than a decent reserve option worth a late-round pick, especially in PPR formats.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter said Wednesday he feels faster than he has in previous years after fully recovering from a nagging hamstring injury. "When I came out (of college) I ran in the mid 4.4s," he said. "I feel I can run that right now."
Analysis: Walter is competing with Jacoby Jones for the No. 2 spot in the Texans receiving corps behind Andre Johnson. We expect Walter to be the starter, but he should only be considered a No. 4 Fantasy WR worth a late-round pick on Draft Day.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter has dazzled the coaching staff with his downfield speed during their most recent OTAs. After passing on signing with the Ravens this offseason, Walter re-signed with the Texans and finds himself in a battle this offseason with speedster Jacoby Jones for the starting job opposite Andre Johnson. "I don't know how, but he has," wide receivers coach Larry Kirksey said when asked about how Walter has improved his speed. "He's playing fast -- that's Kevin though. He's going to work on anything to get an advantage on a defender."
Analysis: Walter had a down year in 2009 with 53 receptions for 611 yards and two touchdowns, but those numbers have a shot at going up if Walter can add separation to his game this season. We'd love to see him break a long one this preseason. If he can edge out Jones for the starting role, he should be in line for another 50-catch campaign. He's still no better than a reserve Fantasy option for now (perhaps a low-end No. 3 WR in PPR formats), though he'd have some upside if he truly has added a gear to his legs.
News: The Houston Chronicle reports Texans coach Gary Kubiak is expecting WR Jacoby Jones to compete with Kevin Walter for a starting job this season. That's something Jones is looking forward to. "Whatever their plans are, I know it'll be big and it'll be fun," Jones said. He has been one of the Texans' bright spots during the first two weeks of OTA workouts. "He's pushing for more playing time on this football team," Kubiak said. "If the OTAs are any indication, he's doing a hell of a job."
Analysis: Walter had a down year in 2009 with 53 receptions for 611 yards and two touchdowns. But we still expect him to earn the starting spot opposite Andre Johnson. Keep an eye on what happens with Walter and Jones, but if Walter starts as expected then plan on drafting him with a late-round pick in all leagues.
News: Receiver Kevin Walter has been re-signed by the Houston Texans. Walter started 14 games opposite Andre Johnson last season and had 53 receptions for 611 yards and two touchdowns. He joined the Texans in 2006 and has 195 receptions for 2,470 yards and 15 touchdowns since arriving in Houston. There was some concern that he'd land elsewhere but ultimately re-signed.
Analysis: This should ensure a reprisal of his role for 2009. Walter is a fair choice as a No. 3 WR in deeper leagues but is otherwise a nice reserve option capable of filling in as a one-week replacement throughout the season. We don't expect a huge pop in stats from him. Look his way with a late-round pick.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter was held to two catches for 30 yards Sunday against New England.
Analysis: Walter has been a disappointment for the Texans this year. Consider him a low-end No. 3 WR for Houston going forward.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter caught three passes for 21 yards in a Week 16 win over the Dolphins.
Analysis: Walters has been an overall disappoint in 2009 and should only be used as a last-resort flex option in super-deep leagues for Week 17 vs. New England.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter had four catches for 42 yards and a touchdown Sunday at St. Louis. This was Walter's first touchdown since Week 3 against Jacksonville.
Analysis: Walter hasn't lived up to preseason expectations as the No. 2 WR for the Texans, and he hasn't stepped up as expected when Owen Daniels (torn ACL) was lost for the season. But he still has the chance to finish the season strong, and hopefully this was a step in the right direction. Consider him a No. 3 Fantasy option in Week 16 at Miami.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter watched in amazement as Andre Johnson racked up 11 catches for 193 yards and two touchdowns in Week 14 against Seattle. Walter could only get the leftovers as he finished with two catches for 17 yards in the game.
Analysis: Walter is easily the Texans No. 2 receiving option behind Johnson. Unfortunately, the No. 2 option doesnt see much work as Johnson has been simply amazing in recent weeks. Walter is good for at least 3-5 catches and 40-70 yards per game but only has one touchdown catch this year and that came back in Week 3. Consider Walter a low-end No. 3 Fantasy WR in Week 15 at St. Louis.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter had four catches for 54 yards Sunday at Jacksonville.
Analysis: Walter continues to be the No. 2 weapon in the passing game for the Texans with Owen Daniels (knee) out for the season. Consider Walter a low-end No. 3 Fantasy WR in Week 14 against Seattle.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter had seven catches for 73 yards Sunday against the Colts. He also had one carry for 3 yards. This was Walter's best game since Week 3 against Jacksonville when he had seven catches for 96 yards and a touchdown.
Analysis: It's a good thing Walter played like this since he faces the Jaguars again in Week 13. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for Walter heading into the final stretch of the season, and consider Walter a No. 3 Fantasy WR against the Jaguars in the rematch.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter caught four passes for 46 yards on Monday night in the Week 11 loss to Tennessee. Walter had a long reception of 27 yards in the defeat.
Analysis: Walter appears to be seeing more and more action in the passing game of late but is yet to really break out for Houston. Hes scored just one touchdown this season way back in Week 3. Walter has caught at least three passes in six straight games now. He made five catches for 67 yards in Week 9 against the Colts and will face Indy again in Week 12 at home. His season suggests he's just a No. 3 or 4 option for Week 12 until he starts finding the end zone.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter will face a porous Tennessee pass defense in Week 11. Walter did not play at Tennessee in Week 2 of the season and only managed six catches for 23 yards and no scores against them last season in two games. That said, no team gives up more passing touchdowns than does Tennessee.
Analysis: Walter will continue to see increased production with Owen Daniels out with injury and he could essentially break out in Week 11 against one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL. With the Titans worrying about Johnson, who torched them in Week 2, that could open the door for Walter. His season suggests he's just a No. 3 or 4 option for Week 11 but there is something we like about this matchup.
News: As expected, Texans WR Kevin Walter saw a bump in production with TE Owen Daniels out for the year with his five-catch, 67-yard performance at Indianapolis in Week 9.
Analysis: Walter should be expected to produce like this weekly going forward. He's on bye in Week 10 but is useful as a low-end No. 3 WR in Week 11 against the Titans at home.
News: With the Colts losing CB Marlin Jackson and SS Bob Sanders for the season as well as starting CB Kelvin Hayden for a month, the Texans should be able to move the ball effectively through the air on Sunday. This bodes well for WRs Kevin Walter and Jacoby Jones, who might also see more looks than normal with TE Owen Daniels out for the season with a torn ACL.
Analysis: Walter plays a lot but typically doesn't get a lot of chances to put up big stats, while Jones is a situational big-play receiver who might not even make a grab. In fact, Walter has at least two catches in each of his last five against the Colts while Jones has gone catchless in his last three vs. Indy (and has just five catches in his last five games). Walter is fine as a No. 3 WR in deeper leagues while Jones is no better than a No. 4 option who is worth a flier off waivers as a desperation spot start this week.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter carried once for 13 yards during a Week 8 win at Buffalo. Walter also caught four passes in the game for 29 yards. He did not score.
Analysis: Walter has now gone for 29 receiving yards in three straight games and hasn't seen more than four catches and 41 yards since making seven grabs for 96 and a score back in Week 3 against Jacksonville. Walter may need to step up his production in Week 9 at Indianapolis with the possibility that TE Owen Daniels, who got injured during the Week 8 game, might miss the contest. Walter's value is definitely higher with Daniels out but until that is official, consider Walter a low-end No. 3 option for Week 9.
News: Expected to see a little more action than he has been of late, Texans WR Kevin Walter caught three passes for only 29 yards vs. the 49ers in Week 7. Since making his 2009 debut in Week 3 he has eight catches for 107 yards with no touchdowns.
Analysis: Walter has regressed to being nothing more than a low-end No. 3 Fantasy WR or reserve. Consider other options even though he has a fairly decent option in Week 8 at Buffalo.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter had three catches for 29 yards Sunday at Cincinnati. Walter has now stuggled in his past three games with eight catches for 107 yards after catching seven passes for 96 yards and one touchdown in Week 3 against Jacksonville.
Analysis: Walter continues to struggle even though he is a viable part of the Texans passing game. But with Matt Schaub spreading the ball around to Andre Johnson, Owen Daniels, Steve Slaton and now Jacoby Jones, who has three touchdowns on the season, Walter has to be considered a No. 3 Fantasy WR at best. He faces the 49ers in Week 7, and he should only be used if you have another receiver on a bye. Let him get going again before using him as a starter.
News: The Texans play at Cincinnati in Week 6, and WR Kevin Walter will surely be trying to replicate his 2008 performance against the Bengals when he caught five passes for 70 yards and two touchdowns. Cincy ranks 22nd vs. the pass in 2009.
Analysis: Many are thinking that Sunday's game could be a high-scoring shootout, so Walter could be in for a nice amount of touches, especially if the Bengals focus too much on stopping Andre Johnson or Owen Daniels. Start Walter as a No. 2 Fantasy WR for Week 6.
News: Even with QB Matt Schaub throwing for a season-high 371 yards, WR Kevin Walter played a minimal role Week 5 at Arizona. He caught three passes for 37 yards and lost a yard on a run. In two games since catching seven passes for 96 yards at Jacksonville, he has four catches for 78 yards.
Analysis: Walter is looking more and more like the third receiving option in Houston, behind both Andre Johnson and Owen Daniels. In a pass-heavy offense like the Texans', the third receiver can sometimes play a role in Fantasy, but he's not necessarily a must-start. Treat Walter as no more than a No. 3 Fantasy WR at Cincinnati in Week 6.
News: Texans QB Matt Schaub is looking forward to WR Kevin Walter's contributions to the offense now that he's has had time to get back into a rhythm with the team. Walter missed the first two games this season with a hamstring injury. Schaub and Walter will be playing their third game together in Week 3 at Arizona. "He's so dependable and we know where he's going to be," said Schaub who has eight touchdowns and three interceptions this season. "He's going to make the plays. He's huge for us on third downs. He's huge for us on plays down the field when they're double-covering Andre (Johnson)."
Analysis: Walter had a career-high 899 yards and eight touchdowns last season when Johnson led the league with 1,575 yards receiving. Walter had only one catch for 41 yards last week against Oakland. In his first game this year in Week 3 against Jacksonville, Walter finished with 96 total yards receiving and a touchdown. Consider Walter a solid start in Week 5 at Arizona.
News: Texans QB Matt Schaub threw for 224 yards and a touchdown in Week 4 against Oakland. He completed 11 of 22 passes and was intercepted once. Schaub threw for 204 yards in the first half and attempted just six passes in the second half. WR Kevin Walters caught just one pass for 41 yards. He was thrown to three times in the games
Analysis: The Texans went to the running game in the second half of a blowout against the Raiders. They were never pressed in the second half and Daniels' numbers suffered as a result. Expect the Texans pass offense to get back on track in Week 5 at Arizona where we don't expect the Texans will be able to abandon the pass in the second half in what should be a much more competitive game. Walters can be viewed as a decent No. 2 receiver -- especially during the bye weeks.
News:Kevin Walter put Houston on top 14-10 Week 3 against the Jaguars with a 9-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter. It was his first action of the season after sitting out the first two games with a hamstring injury. Walter finished with 96 total yards receiving with a long of 24 yards. He also carried the ball once for 11 yards, finishing with 107 yards.
Analysis: Walter's start to the season came two games late, but Fantasy owners will take it as he produced at a surprisingly high level Week 3 against Jacksonville. Many owners drafted Walter as a quality sleeper and he rewarded their faith in him Week 3. Hopefully this is the first of several great games from Walter who did not look rusty in his debut. Think of him as a solid No. 3 Fantasy option next week against Oakland with the chance to exceed expectations in a big way again.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter will make his season debut on Sunday against the Jaguars as he was not listed on the inactive report.
Analysis: Walter has missed the first two games of the season, but will make his 2009 debut on Sunday. Walter could be a little rusty, so consider him a low-end Fantasy option until he gets his feet under him.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Week 3 vs. Jacksonville. He was limited in practice all week, however, head coach Gary Kubiak expects Walter to play Sunday. "Yeah, from what I saw (Friday), he should be ready to go," Kubiak said.
Analysis: Walter has missed the first two games of the season, but it finally seems as though he will make his 2009 debut. Walter could be a little rusty, so consider him a low-end Fantasy option until he gets his feet under him.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter was able to practice in a limited fashion on Wednesday and Thursday as the team prepares for its Week 3 game against the Jaguars. He has missed the first two games of the season with a hamstring injury.
Analysis: Kubiak told The Houston Chronicle on Wednesday that is was possible that Walter would be back in action Week 3, which is good news for Fantasy owners. If Walter is able to play, think of him as a No. 3 Fantasy WR.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter (hamstring) was named among the inactives for Houston's Week 2 game at Tennessee. WR Jacoby Jones started in his place.
Analysis: Walter looked to have an outside shot at playing this week, but the Titans clearly didn't want to take a risk with their No. 2 WR. Hopefully he'll be ready to go for Week 3 vs. Jacksonville, as he can be a productive No. 3 Fantasy WR when healthy.
News: There is an 80 percent chance of rain for today's game between the Texas and the Titans in Nashville.
Analysis: This isn't great news for Matt Schaub's many owners, although a lot of them have benched the Houston QB with his tough matchup against the Titans and the fact he really struggled in Week 1 against the Jets. Fantasy-viable receivers like Andre Johnson, Justin Gage and Nate Washington might have a tough time of things, but Johnson should remain a must-start through thick and thin. Kevin Walter, who is a game-time decision with a hamstring issue, might not be risked by the Texans with the slippy surface.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter was able to participate in practice on a limited basis on Thursday and Friday after missing Week 1's game against the Jets. NFL.com reports that head coach Gary Kubiak said Walter is considered a game-time decision for the team's Week 2 game against the Titans.
Analysis: Walter is expected to put up some decent numbers in 2009 as the Texas offense is going to eventually be an explosive one. The team struggled Week 1 offensively but should be better with the addition of Walter to the arsenal if he does play on Sunday. Think of him as a No. 3 Fantasy WR with upside. Monitor his status leading up to the game.
News: The Texans listed WR Kevin Walter (hamstring) among their inactives for Week 1 vs. the Jets. WR Andre Davis will start in his place, opposite WR Andre Johnson.
Analysis: This is a shame, as Walter should be in for a nice 2009 season as part of what is expected to be an explosive Texans offense. Be sure to bench him for Week 1 and just hope he gets back sooner rather than later. Davis might be worth a shot as a one-week replacement in deeper leagues if you can grab him off the waiver before the 1 p.m. kickoff.
News: WR Kevin Walter (hamstring) did not practice Friday, and will be a game-time decision on Sunday, according to a CBSSports.com correspondent at Texans practice.
Analysis: If healthy, Walter could hit 1,000 receiving yards this season with the Houston offense expected to be solid. With Andre Johnson and Steve Slaton around, defenses won't be covering Walter as closely and he should be able to pick up some big plays. However, Walter is certainly a big question mark for Week 1 and Fantasy owners might have to look elsewhere until he is over this hammy issue. We think of him as a No. 3 Fantasy WR with some upside.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday as he continues to deal with a hamstring injury. Walter did not play in the final preseason game and is considered questionable for Week 1 against the Jets. NFL.com reported on Wednesday that head coach Gary Kubiak is concerned with Walter's injury."Am I worried about it? Yeah. Obviously, because he hasn't practiced yet. He and (FS) Eugene (Wilson) have worked with (head athletic trainer) Geoff (Kaplan) on the side. They did some running yesterday. They both came out of that okay. They did a little bit more today. We'll go back and look. Obviously, for them not to be on the field today, on Wednesday, it's a day-to-day situation, but they're not here today. So, yeah there's some concern."
Analysis: A healthy Walter hopes to hit 1,000 receiving yards this season catching passes from Matt Schaub. The Houston offense is expected to be solid and with Andre Johnson and Steve Slaton as two very serious weapons, defenses won't be covering Walter as tightly. However, Walter is certainly a question mark for Week 1 and Fantasy owners might have to look elsewhere until he is over this hammy issue. Think of him as a No. 3 Fantasy WR with some upside.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter did not play in Friday's final preseason game against Tampa Bay due to a hamstring injury. He is considered questionable for the start of the regular season.
Analysis: A healthy Walter hopes to hit 1,000 receiving yards this season catching passes from Matt Schaub. The Houston offense is expected to be solid and with Andre Johnson and Steve Slaton as two very serious weapons, defenses won't be covering Walter as tight. Let's hope this injury is minor and he will be good to go for the start of the regular season. He is worth drafting as a No. 3 Fantasy WR, as long as he's healthy.
News: Texans receiver Kevin Walter injured his right hamstring in the first half of Monday night's game against the Vikings and did not return. He did not have a catch in the game and the extent of his injury is not yet known.
Analysis: A healthy Walter hopes to hit 1,000 receiving yards this season catching passes from Matt Schaub. The Houston offense is expected to be solid and with Andre Johnson and Steve Slaton as two very serious weapons, defenses won't be covering Walter as tight. Let's hope this injury is minor and he was removed mainly for precautionary reasons. He is worth drafting as a No. 3 Fantasy WR, as long as he's healthy.
News: The Houston Chronicle reports the Texans are counting on WR Kevin Walter for another big year as the No. 2 WR behind Andre Johnson. "I fly under the radar, and I like it that way," Walter said. "I'm a quiet guy. I work hard and do my job. I want to improve every year. If you don't get better you get worse, and I can't have that." Walter is coming off a season in which he had 60 receptions for a career-best 899 yards and eight touchdowns. With Johnson on one side and TE Owen Daniels on the other, it's going to be difficult for Walter to hit that magic number of 1,000 yards receiving for the first time. The 2009 campaign would be the ideal time to do it because Walter is in his contract year. "I think 1,000 is within reach," he said. "Andre's going to get a lot of attention, and deservedly so. The attention he gets opens it up for other receivers like Owen and me to make plays."
Analysis: Walter should be in line for another good season. He is worth drafting as a No. 3 Fantasy WR with a mid-round pick, and hopefully he can reach the 1,000-yard mark.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter had another sorry performance Week 16 at Oakland with only two catches for 17 yards and one rushing attempt that went 13 yards. It's Walter's second game in a row with only two catches after exploding Week 14 for 148 yards on six catches.
Analysis: We thought Walter would rebound this week at Oakland, but that was clearly not the way it played out. With these back-to-back awful performances, consider him nothing more than a low-end No. 3 receiver for Week 17 against the Bears.
News: In the Texans' 13-12 win vs. the Titans in Week 15, WR Kevin Walter caught just two passes for 8 yards. Like many of his teammates, he was a bystander for Andre Johnson's incredible 207-yard effort against Tennessee.
Analysis: This was Walter's worst game of the season, and it couldn't have come at a worse time for Fantasy owners. But if there's some good news, it's that Walter plays at Oakland in Week 16 and should rebound with a good effort against the lowly Raiders. Consider him a middle-end No. 3 Fantasy WR for that game.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter had six catches for 146 yards and a touchdown Sunday at Green Bay. Walter now has eight touchdowns on the season.
Analysis: Walter has become a quality Fantasy WR and is worth using as a No. 3 Fantasy option in all leagues in Week 15 against Tennessee. Walter had four catches for 15 yards in Week 3 against the Titans, but he should improve on those stats next week.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter, who had averaged 85.7 yards per game over his last three, came back down to earth Week 13 against the Jaguars. He caught two balls for only 38 yards.
Analysis: Walter still topped 700 yards for the season with the performance. Starting opposite Andre Johnson, his performance will remain inconsistent, but he deserves to start as a No. 3 Fantasy WR in Week 14 at Green Bay.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter caught his seventh touchdown pass of the season and fourth in the last five games Week 12 at Cleveland. He scored on a 17-yard catch in the first quarter. He finished with seven catches for 96 yards.
Analysis: Walter plays opposite one of the most prolific wide receivers in the league, Andre Johnson, who had 10 catches for 116 yards in the same game. Walter obviously doesn't get the numbers he does, but he has managed to post reliable stats even with less than the majority of the team's looks. Start him as a No. 2 Fantasy WR in Week 13 against the Jaguars.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter caught two passes for barely any yardage in Week 11's loss to the Colts. He caught a third pass that went for 61 yards as he finished with three catches for 79 yards to lead the Texans in receiving against Indianapolis.
Analysis: Walter is a very consistent receiving threat in Fantasy. He's caught at least three passes in six straight contests for at least 27 yards and an average of 68 yards per game. He's also got three touchdowns in that span as he remains a No. 3 Fantasy WR for Week 12 at Cleveland.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter scored on a 60-yard touchdown pass from QB Sage Rosenfels in Week 10 against the Ravens. He finished with four catches for 85 yards.
Analysis: Walter is clearly the second and maybe even the third receiving option in Houston, behind Andre Johnson and Owen Daniels. He occasionally has big games and now has three touchdowns in his last three games, but he remains a No. 3 Fantasy WR for Week 11 at Indianapolis.
News: The Texans listed WR Kevin Walter as active for Week 10 against the Ravens. He missed some practice this week because of a back injury.
Analysis: Walter is clearly the second and maybe even the third receiving option in Houston, behind Andre Johnson and Owen Daniels. He occasionally has big games, but with a backup quarterback throwing him the ball against a tough defense, you should probably keep him reserved in Week 10.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter (back) is listed as probable for Week 10 vs. Baltimore. Walter was back at a full practice Friday after limited reps Thursday and sitting out Wednesday. He dealt with a knee injury leading up to Week 9 against Minnesota, but dressed and had four catches for 47 yards.
Analysis: Walter has 33 receptions for 410 yards and five touchdowns but lost his QB Matt Schaub for the next two to four weeks with injury. Taking that into account, consider Walter a No. 3 Fantasy WR or 'flex' option in larger leagues for Week 10 against Baltimore.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter (back) was limited during last week's practices with a knee injury but played in Week 9's game at Minnesota. Walter is still missing practice time but was upgraded on Thursday as he was able to practice in a limited capacity.
Analysis: Walter has 33 receptions for 410 yards and five touchdowns but lost his QB Matt Schaub for the next two to four weeks with injury. Taking that into account, consider Walter a No. 3 Fantasy WR or 'flex' option in larger leagues for Week 10 against Baltimore, if healthy.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter (back) was limited during last week's practices with a knee injury but played in Week 9's game at Minnesota. Walter is still missing practice time as he was held out of practice on Wednesday prior to Week 10 against Baltimore, this time with a back injury.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter (knee) was able to play in Week 9 at Minnesota. He had been listed as probable on the injury report. Walter finished with four catches and 47 yards in the game. His longest catch went for 28 yards.
Analysis: Walter was targeted eight times in the game. He starts opposite Andre Johnson, and despite being a No. 3 option at times for QB Matt Schaub, he still sees a fair amount of passes come his way. He has 33 receptions for 410 yards and five touchdowns. Consider him a No. 3 Fantasy WR or 'flex' option in larger leagues for Week 10 against Baltimore.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter (knee) is listed as probable for Week 9 at Minnesota. Walter went through a second straight full practice Friday and head coach Gary Kubiak said Walter is "back to full speed."
Analysis: Walter starts opposite Andre Johnson, and despite being a No. 3 option at times for QB Matt Schaub, he still sees a fair amount of passes come his way. Walter has 29 receptions for 363 yards and five touchdowns. He's healthy so consider him a No. 3 Fantasy WR or 'flex' option in larger leagues for Week 9.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter (knee) was able to practice in full on Thursday and was not limited in any way, according to his coach, Gary Kubiak, reports the team's official site. "He's fine. He went through the whole practice just like we thought he would," Kubiak said Thursday. "So, it was good to give him a break yesterday, but he'll be OK."
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter (knee) did not practice Wednesday as the team prepares for Week 9 at Minnesota. Walter had two touchdown catches in a Week 8 win against Cincinnati, but got a little nicked up. "His knee, he took a shot there late in the fourth quarter on the backside of a run and it just bothered him a little bit (Wednesday)," head coach Gary Kubiak told NFL.com. "Of course, Kevin wants to practice. We're the ones who sat him down. So I would hope he practices (Thursday) and he should be fine."
Analysis: Walter starts opposite Andre Johnson, and despite being a No. 3 option at times for QB Matt Schaub, he still sees a fair amount of passes come his way. Walter has 29 receptions for 363 yards and five touchdowns. If healthy Week 9, consider him a No. 3 Fantasy WR or 'flex' option in larger leagues.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter made five catches for 70 yards and two touchdowns in a Week 8 rout of the Bengals.
Analysis: Walter now has a pair of two-touchdown games this season and he's simply killing Fantasy owners on a weekly basis, as they don't know what they're going to get out of him. For that reason he remains a decent low-end No. 3 or No. 4 Fantasy WR option heading into Week 9 at Minnesota.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter made three catches for 27 yards in a Week 7 win over the Lions. He also ran one time for seven yards.
Analysis: Walter has had a couple of decent outings this season, but mostly produces around 40-50 yards. He remains a decent low-end No. 3 or No. 4 Fantasy WR option heading into Week 8 vs. Cincinnati.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter had four catches for 98 yards Sunday against Miami.
Analysis: Walter remains a solid low-end Fantasy WR and is capable of games like this every now and then. He should have another good outing in Week 7 against Detroit, so consider using Walter as a No. 3 Fantasy option.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter, who had two touchdowns in Week 4 against Jacksonville, had two catches for 36 yards Sunday against the Colts.
Analysis: Walter is good a for a big game every now and then, but he's not a consistent enough option to count on every week. Consider Walter a No. 4 Fantasy WR for Week 6 against Miami.
News: According to the NFL Today, Texans QB Matt Schaub was sick enough to be hospitalized Saturday night and will not play in Week 5 against the Colts. Sage Rosenfels will start in his place.
Analysis: Talk about a massive blow for Schaub's owners, who surely had their hopes up after he broke out with a 300-yard, three-touchdown passing day in Week 4. Rosenfels is a capable backup, however, so the Fantasy value of Andre Johnson and the other Texans receivers shouldn't take too much of a hit. Obviously bench Schaub, and hopefully you have a decent QB on the bench otherwise you're going to be left scrambling.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter caught eight passes for 76 yards in Week 4 at Jacksonville, including two touchdown passes. He caught a 5-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter and an 8-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter.
Analysis: Walter now has touchdowns in two of his first three games this season, but this was his most productive game with the catches and the yards. He's benefitting from the extra attention that Andre Johnson gets from opposing defenses and Fantasy owners can start thinking of him as a decent No. 3 receiver in larger leagues. He's a nice pickup off the waiver wire to be used during the bye weeks considering the Texans already had theirs. He'll be useful as a No. 3 or 4 receiver for Week 5 vs. Indianapolis.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter (toe) was activated for Week 4 at Jacksonville. He had been listed as probable on the injury report.
Analysis: Walter started opposite Andre Johnson Week 4. This is a big game for the Texans since they have struggled to open the season, but Walter is at best a 'flex' option.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter (toe) is listed as probable for Week 4 at Jacksonville. Walter went through a full practice Friday after limited reps Thursday. Walter had four catches for 15 yards during a Week 3 loss to the Titans. He also had one carry for three yards. Walter was targeted 10 times by QB Matt Schaub.
Analysis: Walter is expected to start opposite Andre Johnson Week 4. This is a big game for the Texans since they have struggled to open the season, but Walter is at best a 'flex' option heading into Week 4 against the Jaguars.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter (toe) did not practice Wednesday, but returned to a full routine Thursday as the team prepares for Week 4 at Jacksonville. Walter had four catches for 15 yards during a Week 3 loss to the Titans. He also had one carry for three yards. Walter was targeted 10 times by QB Matt Schaub.
Analysis: Walter doubled his catch production Week 3, but still has just 56 receiving yards on the season. Schaub is looking his way, but Walter just isn't posting big time numbers, although he does have a touchdown. Consider Walter at best a 'flex' option heading into Week 4 against the Jaguars, if healthy.

News: Texans WR Kevin Walter struggled against the Titans in Nashville last season, but he did manage six catches for 97 yards and a touchdown against Tennessee in the Texans' home game. In Week 3, Houston visits the Titans.
Analysis: Walter is the No. 2 WR in Houston, but he's probably the third target for Matt Schaub behind Andre Johnson and Owen Daniels. He has the ability to put up big numbers now and again when teams forget to cover him (remember 12-160 against the Jags in '07?), but probably shouldn't be starting in any Fantasy leagues just yet.
News: The Baltimore Ravens-Houston Texans game was rescheduled to Nov. 9 after Reliant Stadium was severely damaged by Hurricane Ike, meaning both teams will not play in Week 2. The new date also affects the Cincinnati Bengals' schedule. Houston was originally scheduled to play the Bengals on Nov. 9. Now, those teams will play on Oct. 26 and Cincinnati will take its bye week on Nov. 9, when the Texans now play the Ravens.
Analysis: It's all a little confusing, but basically Fantasy owners need to treat Week 2 as a bye week for the Texans and Ravens. So if you have any players or either defensive unit active, get them reserved immediately. The Texans will next play at Tennessee in Week 3.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter continued his good play from last year, catching three passes for 41 yards and a touchdown at Pittsburgh in Week 1. Walter's score came in the fourth quarter when the game was out of reach for the Texans.
Analysis: Walter is considered a deep sleeper by many, but he's never been the picture of consistency. He'll be involved in another tough matchup in Week 2 vs. the Ravens, so keep him out of Fantasy lineups, and off standard Fantasy rosters, at this point.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter had a team-high six catches for 61 yards during Friday's preseason game against the Cowboys. Among his six catches, Walter had a 11-yard touchdown reception. He hooked up for the score in the second quarter with QB Matt Schaub. Walter has two touchdowns in the preseason and 166 receiving yards.
Analysis: Texans head coach Gary Kubiak has wanted to see more production from Walter in 2008 and it already looks as though he is getting it. Now, if he can just do this in-season. Consider Walter a Fantasy sleeper heading into 2008 as he can be a decent look-off option for Schaub.
News: Houston QB Matt Schaub's favorite target in Saturday's preseason game against the Saints was Kevin Walter. Walter had six catches for 100 yards, including a 26-yard score that gave Houston a 7-3 lead in the first quarter.
Analysis: We don't recommend drafting Walter since he doesn't project out to a quality, consistent Fantasy receiver, but he's the kind of guy you can pick up off the waiver wire to use as a one-week replacement when one of your starting WRs has a bad matchup or is on bye.
News: Gary Kubiak was certain Kevin Walter would be a success from the moment he arrived in Houston. Walter was signed after Kubiak was hired as Texans coach in 2006 and Kubiak raved about him from Day 1, even though Walter had less than 300 yards receiving in his first three NFL seasons combined. His impact was minimal his first year in Houston, but he lived up to the promise Kubiak saw last year with 800 yards receiving and four touchdowns, much of which coming while Andre Johnson was hurt last season. Not surprisingly, Kubiak believes Walter can do much more. "He's a special worker," Kubiak said. "He's a great kid and he's managed to take his skill and expertise to a new level. Nothing would surprise me. He's a very accountable kid. ... He reminds me of a kid who played for me a long time, Ed McCaffrey."
Analysis: Walter has a long way to go before his statistics can be compared to the 7,422 yards receiving and 55 touchdowns McCaffrey amassed in 13 NFL seasons. But if Kubiak's instincts continue to be correct, we might have a Fantasy sleeper on our hands. We don't recommend drafting Walter since he doesn't project out to a quality, consistent Fantasy receiver, but he's the kind of guy you can pick up off the waiver wire to use as a one-week replacement when one of your starting WRs has a bad matchup or is on bye.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter had a career season in 2007. He set new career highs for catches (65), yards (800) and touchdowns (four). He appeared in all 16 games with 15 starts. Walter was the No. 2 wide receiver for the Texans opposite Andre Johnson when Johnson was healthy.
Analysis: The Texans like Walter, but they will need to upgrade at wide receiver opposite Johnson. Jacoby Jones, a rookie last year, could compete with Walter for playing time. In any case, unless Walter is named the starter again, his Fantasy value is minimal. He is worth drafting in larger leagues in the later rounds.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter had no catches Sunday against Jacksonville.
Analysis: Walter will enter next season with minimal Fantasy value. He will come into training camp looking to compete for a starting spot.
News: Houston WR Kevin Walter had four catches for 69 yards and a touchdown Sunday at the Colts.
Analysis: Walter has been a serviceable No. 3 Fantasy WR this season and is worth using in that capacity in Week 17 against the Jaguars.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter had two catches for 17 yards in his previous meeting with the Colts this season. He faces them again in Week 16.
Analysis: He won't wow you with yardage but always has a shot to score while sharing the field with Andre Johnson. Moreover, Walter and the Colts should be playing from behind, so he could see more passes come his way. Walter is fine as a low-end No. 4 Fantasy WR in deeper leagues.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter had nearly as many rushing yards as receiving yards during a Week 15 win against the Broncos. He caught three passes for 32 yards, including a long gain of 25 yards, but also showed off his rushing skills with two carries for 21 yards. He did not have a touchdown in the game.
Analysis: Walter's numbers have really dropped since Andre Johnson has returned, but he is still seeing some touches per game and has two touchdowns in his last four games. Walter is pretty much producing like a No. 4 Fantasy WR at this time. Treat him as such Week 16 against the Colts.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter caught five passes for 47 yards and a touchdown in Houston's 28-14 win over the Buccaneers in Week 14. Walter now has three touchdowns on the season.
Analysis: Walter's value has plummeted since the return of Andre Johnson and he isn't worth starting despite being a scoring threat on occasion. Leave him alone in Week 15 against the Broncos.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter had one catch for 11 yards in Week 13 at Tennessee.
Analysis: The Texans lost QB Matt Schaub in the first half and Walter never really connected with Sage Rosenfels. For Week 14 vs. Tampa Bay, don't consider Walter a viable option.
News:Kevin Walter is coming off his first game this season with a touchdown while playing alongside WR Andre Johnson. He faces the Titans in Tennessee in Week 13 and will match up with their No. 7 pass defense.
Analysis: Walter is at best a low-end No. 3 Fantasy option, good for a handful of catches at a clip of just over 10 yards per. Don't expect much from him in this one, even with QB Matt Schaub on fire.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter had six catches for 65 yards Sunday at Cleveland and a touchdown.
Analysis: Walter is worth using as a No. 3 Fantasy WR in Week 13 at Tennessee.
News:Kevin Walter and the Texans face off against the 31st-ranked pass defense of the Browns at Cleveland in Week 12. While Walter's numbers are poor when he shares the field with Andre Johnson, it's his time on the field without Johnson that has earned him playing time now. And with the Browns' pass defense shaky, Walter could be a part of what's expected to be a high-scoring game.
Analysis: Walter is probably best used as a No. 4 WR in leagues with deep starting lineups, but if you go to him as your No. 3, you could probably do worse. He should get at least 50 yards.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter had three catches for 31 yards with a five-yard rush vs. New Orleans in Week 11.
Analysis: Walter's production has slid thanks to Andre Johnson being back in the lineup. Expect this kind of production from him for the foreseeable future. Don't bank on him when he plays at Cleveland in Week 12.
News: With WR Andre Johnson back for the Texans in Week 11, Kevin Walter will return to his No. 2 role against the Saints.
Analysis: Walter had five nice games in a row before only making three catches for 33 yards in Week 10 against the Raiders. Johnson will certainly get most of the looks from Matt Schaub in Week 11, but he will also get most of the attention from opposing defenses, which might free Walter up for some nice gains. Consider him a No. 4 Fantasy WR in Week 11.
News: WR Kevin Walter had his lowest production since Week 3 against the Colts, when he caught two passes for 17 yards, as Houston took on the Raiders Week 9. Walter had just three receptions for 33 yards against Oakland. In his previous five games, he had five or more receptions and more than 60 yards in each game.
Analysis: The Raiders own one of the best pass defenses in the league and showed why Week 9. Walter had trouble getting open and making big plays. And now comes even more bad news. The Texans expect star WR Andre Johnson to play Week 11 against the Saints after missing the last seven games with a sprained knee. His presence will take away from Walter's chances to make plays. Walter's time as a viable Fantasy option might be up. Continue to follow the situation out of Houston. You won't have to make a decision for two weeks, but Walter's days might be numbered. The Texans will assess the situation during their bye Week 10.
News: Texans WR Andre Johnson (knee) is out for Week 9 at Oakland. Texans head coach Gary Kubiak made the call on Friday. "He will not play until we come back (from the bye) against New Orleans (Week 11)," Kubiak told NFL.com. "Hes made a lot of progress this week. Hes practiced pretty darn good. He's not 100 percent, but he's close and the best thing for Andre and for our football is to make that he gets another 16 or 17 days of rest. We will proceed that way. Hell be back against New Orleans and were excited about that." This news means that Kevin Walter will stay in the starting lineup for another week.
Analysis: Walter has 36 catches for 478 yards and one touchdown in his last five games and will look to add to his totals against the Raiders in Week 9. Walter is a nice start as a No. 3 or No. 4 Fantasy WR against a stingy Raiders pass defense.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter has 36 catches for 478 yards in his last five games and will look to add to his totals against the Raiders in Week 9.
Analysis: Walter's owners will be praying that Andre Johnson won't be back this week because if he is, then Walter's time as a No. 3 Fantasy WR will be over quickly. If Johnson can't go this week, Walter is a nice start as a third receiver, but if Johnson goes then Walter will drop down the depth chart.
News: One week after hauling in his first touchdown pass of the season, Texans WR Kevin Walter caught seven passes for 77 yards Week 8 at San Diego. He now has 36 catches for 478 yards in his last five games.
Analysis: In the absence of Andre Johnson, no one has benefited more than Walter. He's become the go-to guy in Houston and will give Johnson, upon his return, his first true compliment. Walter has shown enough consistency over the last five games to deserve No. 2 Fantasy WR status for Week 9 at Oakland.
News: Texans WR Kevin has played well this season. Walter, who has started each game this season, leads the team with 33 catches for 435 yards. In seven games, the fifth-year player already has more than twice the yardage he had in any other year.
Analysis: Walter is playing like a solid No. 2 WR and should be considered a decent starter Week 8 against San Diego, especially with Andre Johnson still out.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter had another busy week, this time catching six passes for 97 yards with a touchdown vs. Tennessee in Week 7. Last week he caught 12 passes for 160 yards. More than half of his receiving yards on the season have come in these last two contests.
Analysis: Circumstance has helped Walter out a lot -- the Texans have been playing from behind and without Andre Johnson, giving Walter plenty of opportunity to catch passes. Look for those opportunities to continue when he and the Texans play at San Diego in Week 8 and will likely be behind again. Walter should be a serviceable No. 3 Fantasy WR.
News: In Week 6, Texans WR Kevin Walter caught 12 passes for 160 yards, but was held out of the endzone. If Andre Johnson remains out in Week 7, Walter will see plenty of snaps and looks from QB Matt Schaub against the Titans, who rank 18th vs. the pass.
Analysis: The problem with Texans WRs is you never know which one is going to have a big week. One game it could be Walter, but then the next week it could be Andre Davis or Jacoby Jones. While Johnson remains out, Walter could find some use as a bye-week replacement in Week 7, but projects as nothing more than a No. 4 Fantasy WR.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter made 12 catches for 160 yards in Week 6 at Jacksonville. He also rushed once for a loss of five yards.
Analysis: With Andre Johnson out, Walter has emerged as the team's No. 1 receiving option. Unfortunately for his Fantasy value, Johnson is expected to return in Week 7. For that reason, hold back on using Walter as anything more than a low-end No. 3 receiver in Week 7 vs. Tennessee.
News: Texans WRs Kevin Walter (five catches, 67 yards), Andre Davis (four catches, 79 yards), David Anderson (one catch, 19 yards) and FB Vonta Leach (one catch, four yards) all chipped in as Houston edged Miami 22-19 in Week 5.
Analysis: Davis and Walter are definitely worth some consideration if Andre Johnson can't go again in Week 6 when Houston play at Jacksonville, but Anderson and Leach have zero Fantasy value.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter set career highs in Week 4 in receptions (six) and receiving yards (77), and will look to back that nice week up with a solid performance against the Dolphins in Week 5.
Analysis: With Andre Johnson still sidelined, Walter remains as the No. 1 WR in Houston and should be able to at least match his Week 4 totals against Miami. The Fins will be focused primarily on stopping the run, and that should open up some space behind the linebackers for Walter. Consider him a No. 4 Fantasy WR for Week 5.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter caught six passes for 77 yards in Week 4 at the Falcons.
Analysis: Andre Davis, not Walter, appears to have claimed the No. 2 WR role in Houston, so Walter moves back out of the starting lineup once No. 1 Andre Johnson returns. Keep him on the waiver wire in Fantasy for Week 5 against the Dolphins.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter grabbed two passes for 17 yards in Houston's 30-24 loss against the Colts in Week 3.
Analysis: Walter might see more time as long as No. 1 WR Andre Johnson remains sidelined with a sprained knee. Still, he'll make a minimal statistical contribution and should remain on the waiver wire in all Fantasy leagues for Week 4 at the Falcons.
News: Texans coach Gary Kubiak said he isn't sure who will start at WR in place of the injured Andre Johnson for Houston's Week 3 game vs. the Colts. He said Kevin Walter, Jacoby Jones, Jerome Mathis and Andre' Davis will play a near-equal amount. "I haven't made that decision yet," Kubiak said. "We're just going to keep working all four of them. They're all going to play. They're probably going to rotate every two plays together, keep them fresh."
Analysis: Kubiak isn't helping Fantasy owners much with this announcement. Depending on how long Johnson is out, you might want to wait to see who gets the most targets on Sunday before hitting the wires for any of these guys.
News: The Houston Chronicle reports Monday that an MRI on Andre Johnson's right knee confirms a sprain and that he's not expected to play when the 2-0 Texans meet the 2-0 Colts in Houston next week. "I would say that he is doubtful for that football game," coach Gary Kubiak said. "We'll know more in the next couple of days. There was no swelling, but there's definitely a sprain there. It's a concern right now. ... We feel fortunate. Andre is going to be fine. Is he going to be fine in one week? Or is he going to be fine in four weeks? We're still in the evaluation stage. We don't know."
Analysis: The paper added that Andre Davis would be activated if Johnson missed the game, but the Texans would likely start Kevin Walter and rookie Jacoby Jones, with TE Owen Daniels working to help replace Johnson's production. Walter will catch plenty of passes but not for a high average, and Jones has the potential to break a short pass for a score but isn't very polished. Both receivers should not be considered for Fantasy play. As for Daniels, he is now worth a look since it's expected that he'll see a lot of receptions and is a reliable option for Schaub to lean on. Consider him a low-end No. 1 Fantasy TE for the coming week.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter had one catch for 7 yards Sunday against Carolina. He also scored on a fumble recovery on special teams.
Analysis: Walter has minimal Fantasy value and should not be used in Week 3 against the Colts.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter made one catch for 10 yards in Week 1 vs. Kansas City.
Analysis: Walter has some Fantasy appeal, but it is minimal at this juncture of the season. There isn't much hope for a breakout season here, so we don't recommend him for Fantasy play in Week 2 at Carolina.
News: According to The Sports Xchange, Texans WR Jacoby Jones is making a major push for the starting job opposite Andre Johnson. While Kevin Walter was given the job in the offseason, he is struggling to hang onto it. Jones is proving to be a playmaker who the Texans can't afford to keep off the field. He ran two reverses against the Cardinals and gained a total of 24 yards. He also returned a punt 80 yards for a touchdown and caught two passes for 32 yards. Walter struggled in the first preseason game, but redeemed himself against Arizona with one reception for 39 yards. It's hard for him to compete, though, with the speed and versatility of Jones, a rookie out of Lane College. Consistency is the key for Walter to hold onto the job.
Analysis: Jones could have value in rookie leagues, especially if he wins the job as the starting WR opposite Johnson. Consider him a middle-round pick in rookie leagues. But he and Walter are not worth drafting in seasonal drafts at this point because they are too inconsistent. However, keep an eye on both if they start to produce early in the season and can be used as reserves.
News: According to the Houston Chronicle, beginning Saturday night against the Chicago Bears, Kevin Walter wants to prove the Texans have a bona fide starting WR other than Andre Johnson. Walter's 17 receptions in his first season with the Texans paled in comparison to Johnson's NFL-leading 103. He's trying to reward the coaches' faith in him after they elevated him to the starting lineup after dumping Eric Moulds. The Texans brought in a lot of receivers to compete for the job. They drafted Jacoby Jones in the third round. They signed veterans Andre Davis, Keenan McCardell and Bethel Johnson. But it's still Walter's job to lose.
Analysis: We'll see if Walter can hold off Jones, Davis, McCardell and Bethel Johnson. He should be considered a Fantasy reserve heading into the season, but he's someone worth keeping an eye on if he performs well early in the year.
News: HoustonTexans.com reports that the Texans and veteran WR Keenan McCardell have agreed to a one-year contract. McCardell, a native Houstonian, is expected to compete for the No. 2 WR job but could just as easily end up as the No. 3/slot option. He would have to top veteran Kevin Walter and rookie Jacoby Jones for that No. 2 job.
Analysis: McCardell fits in nicely with the Texans, which is bad news for Jones and Walter. At this point, neither of them can be considered in standard Fantasy play. Jones does hold value in keeper leagues and rookie-only drafts since he is a tall (6-foot-3), athletic talent who hit it big at Lane College and is considered a bit of a project player.
News: The Houston Chronicle reports that free-agent WR Keenan McCardell is expected to visit with the Texans. The club is looking for a viable receiver to go opposite of Andre Johnson; Kevin Walter is currently the team's No. 2 option.
Analysis: McCardell would fit in nicely with the Texans considering their west-coast scheme. He's not a burner who will put up a lot of long receptions, but he could be good for as many as 40 receptions and 500 yards. If he signs, Kevin Walter's Fantasy value will dwindle, and Matt Schaub would become even more appealing.
News: The Houston Texans hope Kevin Walter will become the receiver they've long looked for to take pressure off Andre Johnson. Walter, who spent his first three seasons in Cincinnati, hasn't made much of an impact in four NFL seasons. But coach Gary Kubiak believes this could be his breakout year. "I think what you're looking at right there is a player that earned the right to play," Kubiak said. "I went back and watched our film and it felt like if I gave Kevin Walter more chances to make plays, we win a few more games. That's what he is." Walter appeared in each game last season with two starts and finished with 17 receptions for 160 yards.
Analysis: While Walter is the front-runner, there are other candidates for the spot, including free-agent acquisition Andre Davis and rookie Jacoby Jones. Davis had three solid years with Cleveland but didn't see much playing time since in a season in both New England and Buffalo. The Texans drafted Jones in the third round out of Division II Lane College and believe the former track star has potential, but he'll have to overcome his small college background. None of these players are worth drafting in Fantasy leagues.
News: Texans backup QB Bradlee Van Pelt, WR David Anderson, WR Kevin Walter and TE Jeb Putzier did not record any offensive statistics in Week 17 vs. Cleveland.
Analysis: None of these players were viable Fantasy options in 2006. That won't change in 2007.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter caught two passes for 21 yards in Week 16 vs. Indianapolis.
Analysis: Walter is not used enough in the Texans offense to consider using in Fantasy leagues.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter had one catch for six yards in a Week 15 loss to the Patriots.
Analysis: Walter is not a recommended Fantasy option in Week 16 vs. Indianapolis.
News: Notable Texans players who were active but didn't record an offensive stat in Week 14 include: Backup QB Bradlee Van Pelt, WR Jerome Mathis, WR David Anderson, RB Chris Taylor, WR Kevin Walter and TE Mark Bruener.
Analysis: None of these players should be used in Fantasy play.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter caught two passes for 22 yards in Week 12 at the N.Y. Jets.
Analysis: Walter has minimal Fantasy appeal and should not be considered an option for Week 13 at Oakland.

Analysis: Walter has minimal Fantasy appeal and should not be considered an option for Week 12 at N.Y. Jets.

Analysis: Walter has minimal Fantasy appeal and should not be considered an option for Week 11.

Analysis: He has minimal Fantasy appeal and should not be considered an option for Week 10.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter had 28 yards receiving on two receptions in a 27-7 win over the Jaguars in Week 7.
Analysis: Walter has no Fantasy value at this time.
News: WR Kevin Walter had three receptions for 25 yards in the Texans 17-15 win over the Dolphins in Week 4.
Analysis: Walter has no Fantasy value at this present time. It is safe to ignore him. The Texans are on a bye in Week 5.
News: Texans WR Edell Shepherd, RB Jameel Cook and WR Kevin Walter failed to record any offensive statistics in Week 3.
Analysis: Keep these players reserved for Week 4 vs. Miami since they currently have no Fantasy value.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter had one reception for four yards with no touchdowns in a 43-24 loss to the Colts.
Analysis: Walter has no real Fantasy value at this time. Keep him reserved for Week 3 vs. Washington.
News: Texans WR Kevin Walter, in his regular-season debut for the team, caught one pass for eight yards. He also had a fumble that a teammate recovered.
Analysis: Walter doesn't produce enough statistics to warrant use in Fantasy Football play. Ignore him for now.
News: The Texans signed Bengals restricted free agent WR Kevin Walter to an offer sheet, one which the Bengals did not match. Walter joins the Texans, giving up a seventh-round pick in the process. Houston has him for four years.
Analysis: Walter caught 19 passes for 211 yards and a touchdown last season and could morph into a decent No. 3 receiver for Houston.
News: The Cincinnati Enquirer reports Kevin Walter's offer sheet with the Houston Texans is for $6.4 million over four seasons.
Analysis: Walter has the skills to be productive, but off-field problems have hindered him. He caught 19 passes for 211 yards and a touchdown last season.
News: Bengals WR Kevin Walter caught 19 passes for 211 yards with a touchdown in 2005. He also caught a score in the team's wild-card playoff game. Walter will be a restricted free agent this offseason.
Analysis: Walter's Fantasy value won't rise unless his role with the Bengals (or any team) grows.
News: Kevin Walter caught three passes for 21 yards in Sunday's 37-27 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Analysis: Walter is not a recommended starter for Week 17 at Kansas City.
News: Walter had four receptions for 47 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 at Cleveland.
Analysis: The score was the first of his career. Despite the decent day, he is not someone who warrants any Fantasy consideration in Week 2 against Minnesota.
News: According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, after not practicing for the second consecutive day, reserve receiver Kevin Walter (ankle) was downgraded to questionable for Week 10 at Washington.
Analysis: Walter has no Fantasy value.
