Seahawks put two on IR

News: DE Jimmy Wilkerson, who injured his knee in Friday's preseason game against the Raiders, was one of three players placed on injured reserve Saturday along with TE John Carlson and WR Isaiah Stanback.
Analysis: None of these guys were or are expected to be Fantasy relevant. Leave them off rosters.

Wilkerson signs with Seahawks

News: The Seattle Seahawks have added depth to their defensive line by agreeing to terms with free agent defensive end Jimmy Wilkerson.
Analysis: Wilkerson spent last season with New Orleans, but his best seasons came in 2008 and 2009 with Tampa Bay when he worked with new Seattle defensive line coach Todd Wash. Wilkerson started a career-high 15 games in 2009 and had career bests in tackles (46) and sacks (6). Wilkerson will likely serve as a rush defensive end in passing situations and shouldn't be drafted in Fantasy IDP leagues.

Wilkerson notches sack

News: Saints DE Jimmy Wilkerson notched his first sack of the season in the Week 6 victory over the Buccaneers. He now has seven total tackles and the sack through six games in 2010.
Analysis: Wilkerson, the Oklahoma product, is not much of a pass rusher in the Saints defense. The rare sack should not influence owners to take a chance on him in Fantasy. Continue to leave him off of rosters going into Week 7 against the Browns.

Saints sign Wilkerson

News: The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that the Saints confirmed Tuesday they came to terms with DE Jimmy Wilkerson on a one-year contract. Wilkerson spent the last two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Analysis: His sack totals have climbed slightly each year - he spent one year with the Chiefs - and he tallied six last season. He is a good reserve DL in IDP leagues and worth a late-round pick on Draft Day.

Wilkerson suffers knee injury

News: Tampa Bay DL Jimmy Wilkerson left the Week 16 win over the Saints with a knee injury. He left under his own power.
Analysis: Wilkerson is a decent Fantasy IDP player who comes up with a solid amount of sacks, when healthy. He really only has low-end appeal for Week 17 against the Falcons.

Bucs defenders do jobs in win

News: Buccaneers DL Jimmy Wilkerson (seven tackles, half a sack), LB Barrett Ruud (six tackles) and DL Stylez White (five tackles, half a sack) all did a nice job in a Week 7 loss to the Patriots over in London.
Analysis: Ruud is a stud Fantasy linebacker in all IDP formats, while Wilkerson is also worth using in deeper leagues. White has minimal Fantasy value. Bench all these guys in Week 8 as the Bucs are off.

Wilkerson expected to play Week 6

News: Tampa Bay DL Jimmy Wilkerson (knee) has been listed as probable for the team's Week 6 game against the Panthers. Wilkerson made six tackles, including three sacks, and forced a fumble in a Week 5 loss to the Eagles.
Analysis: Wilkerson has come up with five sacks already this season, matching his season total from 2008. Think about picking up Wilkerson for Week 6 against the Panthers as he should be active despite the injury.

Wilkerson has sack hat trick in loss

News: Buccaneers DL Jimmy Wilkerson made six tackles, including three sacks, and forced a fumble in a Week 5 loss to the Eagles.
Analysis: Wilkerson now has five sacks this season, which already matches his total from 2008. He's certainly worth a look in deeper IDP leagues for Week 6 vs. Carolina.

Wilkerson tallies pair of sacks

News: Buccaneers DL Jimmy Wilkerson tallied a pair of sacks in a Week 12 win over the Lions. He now has four on the season and three in his last two games.
Analysis: Wilkerson is playing well lately, but he doesn't put up enough stats on a consistent basis to be worth using in IDP Fantasy leagues right now. The Bucs host the Saints in Week 13.

Wilkerson has himself nice day

News: Buccaneers DL Jimmy Wilkerson made four tackles, two for loss and one for a sack, in a Week 11 win over the Vikings.
Analysis: Wilkerson doesn't have many games like this, so continue to ignore him heading into Week 12 at Detroit.

Tampa Bay re-energizes DL Wilkerson

News: New Tampa Bay DL Jimmy Wilkerson is feeling comfortable with his new surroundings after coming over from Kansas City in the offseason, notes the team's official Web site. On passing downs, Wilkerson has established himself as an inside pass-rush threat from one of the two tackle positions. At his more familiar end position, Wilkerson possesses strong pass-rush skills but can also drop back into coverage if necessary. "They play hard, they hit hard and they have fun at the same time," Wilkerson said. "When I got here a lot of guys came up to me and told me that same thing. So, I knew what to expect coming out here for practice. What they’re saying is true, I’m having fun. I play faster now, I’m hitting harder."
Analysis: Although it is nice to hear that Wilkerson is enjoying himself and might even have a career renaissance in Tampa. Still, Wilkerson won't see enough of the playing field on Sundays to be considered a viable Fantasy option in IDP leagues.

DL Wilkerson signs with Bucs

News: Free-agent defensive end Jimmy Wilkerson signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday. Wilkerson, who entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft pick by the Chiefs in 2003, played the past five seasons with the Chiefs. He has 97 career tackles, one sack, six passes defensed, one fumble recovery and 41 special teams tackles.
Analysis: Wilkerson doesn't post enough stats to warrant use in Fantasy play. Ignore him for now.

K.C. to start DL Wilkerson

News: The Sports Xchange reports DL Jimmy Wilkerson, who led the Chiefs with three preseason sacks and several QB knockdowns, edged out rookie Turk McBride to become the RDE replacement starter for Jared Allen, who will miss the first two games on an NFL suspension.
Analysis: Wilkerson will return to his role as a reserve once Allen returns from suspension. It is probably be to leave him on Fantasy waiver wires.

DE Wilkerson hopes to win job

News: According to The Sports Xchange, Chiefs' DL Jimmy Wilkerson is making a strong push for the starting RDE spot that will be vacant when starter Jared Allen serves a two-game league suspension. Wilkerson's five tackles and two sacks in the Dolphins game suggested that the young veteran deserves first consideration for the fill-in job most people thought would go to second-round pick Turk McBride.
Analysis: Wilkerson might win the starting job but he will likely only be a reserve DL in Fantasy play this season.

Chiefs resign Wilkerson

News: The Kansas City Chiefs resigned backup defensive end Jimmy Wilkerson to a one-year contract Wednesday. Wilkerson appeared in 13 games for the Chiefs last season. The 6-foot-2, 290-pound lineman was a sixth-round pick by Kansas City in 2003 from Oklahoma. He has played in 56 games with the Chiefs, starting in just three.
Analysis: Wilkerson has minimal Fantasy value at this time, but he might improve his stock if he gets increased playing time.
