GM indicates Panthers must show restraint in offseason

(1/18/2014) The Panthers have plenty of decisions to make in the offseason regarding free agency and salary cap issues, according to general manager Mark Gettleman.

"We are cap challenged," he told the team website. "That's not going away any time soon. We have to identify the core and then keep the core."

The Panthers have 21 unrestricted free agents. Included are defensive end Greg Hardy, who was among the league leaders with 15 sacks, and prominent left tackle Jordan Gross.

"The biggest mistake you can make is make emotional decisions," Gettleman added. "We have to make business decisions, and it takes time."


Three Panthers ruled probable Week 16

(12/20/2013) The Panthers have ruled OL Jordan Gross, OL Travelle Wharton and TE Brandon Williams probable Week 16 against the Saints.

Gross is listed with a non-injury, as is Wharton. Williams is dealing with a hip injury, and was limited in practice Thursday.


Six Panthers probable Week 15

(12/13/2013) Panthers OL Nate Chandler, DT Dwan Edwards, OL Jordan Gross, OL Chris Scott, LB Jordan Senn and OL Travelle Wharton are probable Week 15 against the Jets.

All six players missed practice Wednesday, but returned to full practice Thursday. Edwards, Gross and Wharton are listed as "non-injury" on the report.


Panthers' probables suit up

(12/8/2013) Several Panthers who were probable on the injury report are active for the game at New Orleans, including defensive end Charles Johnson (knee), offensive tackles Jordan Gross (non-injury related) and Nate Chandler (knee), defensive tackle Dwan Edwards (non-injury related), tight end Ben Hartsock (knee) and guard Travelle Wharton (non-injury related).

Johnson leads the team with 8 1/2 sacks.


Seven Panthers ruled probable

(12/6/2013) Panthers OL Nate Chandler, DT Dwan Edwards, OL Jordan Gross, TE Ben Hartsock, DE Charles Johnson, LB Jordan Senn and OL Travelle Wharton are probable Week 14 against the Saints.

Hartsock and Johnson were the only two players limited in practice Thursday. All seven were able to fully participate in practice Friday.
