News: Rams DB Roderick Hood came up with an interception of Arizona QB John Skelton on Sunday of Week 12. Hood did not make a tackle in the performance.
Analysis: The 30-year-old Hood has only played in four games this season. He has the one pick and hasn't yet recorded a tackle. Hood has low-end Fantasy value in IDP formats.
News: The Rams signed CB Roderick Hood to their active roster on Tuesday. Hood is expected to be at practice on Wednesday.
Analysis: Hood missed all of last season after tearing his ACL, but will now get a chance to play in St. Louis. However, he likely will need a few weeks to be brought up to speed, so owners should leave him on the waiver wire at this point in the season.
News: Titans CB Rod Hood tore his ACL in a mid-June OTA practice and will miss the entire 2010 season.
Analysis: Hood was expected to battle for playing time with the Titans, but his injury will make him useless for them and for Fantasy owners in 2010.
News: The Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms with cornerback Rod Hood, an unrestricted free agent. Hood, heading toward his eighth NFL season, made four starts for the Titans in 2009. He had 18 tackles and tied for second on the team with three interceptions after being signed as a free agent in October. He returned an interception 31 yards for a touchdown against Buffalo.
Analysis: Hood doesn't post enough stats to warrant Fantasy use. Keep him off of rosters for now.
News: The Titans inactives for Friday's game against the Chargers include WR Dominique Edison, RB Javon Ringer, RB/KR Alvin Pearman, CB Rod Hood, LB Keith Bulluck (torn ACL), TE Craig Stevens (concussion) and DE Jevon Kearse.
Analysis: Keep all of these players reserved for Week 16, including Bulluck, who is out for the year. The rest of these players have minimal Fantasy value when active.
News: Titans WR Justin Gage, RB Javon Ringer, RB Alvin Pearman, DB Roderick Hood, LB Colin Allred, DL Jason Jones and DL Sen'Derrick Marks have all been listed as inactive for the team's Week 13 game against the Colts.
Analysis: With the exception of Gage, none of these players have any real Fantasy value and should continue to be ignored in all formats.
News: Titans DB Roderick Hood intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown in Week 10 against Buffalo. He also had three tackles in the game.
Analysis: Hood has interceptions in three straight games and has a pass deflection in each game. He is worth taking a flier on in deeper IDP formats thanks to his recent play and current role.
News: Titans DB Roderick Hood totaled three tackles (two solo) and one interception during a Week 8 win against the Jaguars. It was his first interception of the season.
Analysis: Hood has played in just two games for Tennessee this season. He was a top DB for Arizona two years ago, but his career has quickly gone downhill. Perhaps he can get back on track with Tennessee, but until he starts posting consistent numbers, Hood has minimal Fantasy appeal.
News: The Bears released veteran CB Rod Hood and LB Darrell McClover.
Analysis: Hood has been cut three times this year. He's probably not going to be a good IDP option any more. McClover was never one to begin with. Keep both off of rosters.
News: The Chicago Tribune reports that the Bears and free-agent CB Rod Hood have agreed to terms. Hood was released by the Browns earlier this week.
Analysis: In Chicago, Hood will likely wind up as a nickel or dime back and not see much playing time. He might also work on special teams. Keep him off of Fantasy rosters.
News: Defensive back Roderick Hood, a starter for Arizona in last season's Super Bowl, has been released by the Cleveland Browns.
Analysis: Hood made 14 starts last season for the Cardinals, who released him in April. The Browns signed him as a free agent in May. He had been rotating at cornerback, but was beaten on a touchdown pass in Saturday night's win over Tennessee. He has little Fantasy value even if he gets picked up elsewhere.
News: The Browns have signed free agent cornerback Rod Hood, a starter for Arizona in last season's Super Bowl. Hood spent the past two seasons with the Cardinals. He started 14 games last season, recording 40 tackles and one interception. He also played on special teams and blocked a field goal and returned it 68 yards for a touchdown. He had five interceptions in 2007.
Analysis: Hood is expected to compete with Eric Wright and Brandon McDonald for a starting job. He's not expected to post enough stats to warrant Fantasy use, so keep him off of rosters for now.
News: In a surprising move, the Cardinals cut veteran CB Rod Hood and DE Travis LaBoy. It is believed they were salary cap casualties. Hood appeared in 31 games, 30 as a starter, since signing with Arizona as a free agent in 2007. He had 105 tackles and six interceptions. LaBoy, who played four seasons for the Tennessee Titans, signed a five-year, $22 million contract, with about $7.5 million guaranteed, with Arizona before the 2008 season. He played in 13 games with 38 tackles, four sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in his lone season with the Cardinals.
Analysis: The Cardinals drafted players at each of their positions, helping in their decision to drop these guys. LaBoy has the potential to be a one-week replacement off the waiver wire in IDP leagues, as does Hood so long as he's starting somewhere. Neither should be considered a starter, or draftable in standard IDP league play.
News: The Cardinals allowed 396 yards of total offense and 35 points in Week 15 against Minnesota. Roderick Hood returned a field goal 68 yards for a touchdown and they forced one turnover in the game. Three different players each had one sack in the game.
Analysis: Hood had just two tackles in the game and despite the touchdown remains a very low-end Fantasy option in IDP formats. Hood is a good cover corner, but that means that other teams do not throw his way often and that lessens his chances for Fantasy production.
News:The Sports Xchange notes that Cardinals CB Roderick Hood aggravated a rib injury and is due to undergo more testing this week.
Analysis: Hood is the Cardinals best cover cornerback and is absence would be felt by the Cardinals DST. Still, he doesn't do the things that make solid Fantasy IDP players and is more valuable in real life then in Fantasy.
News: According to The Sports Xchange, Cardinals DB Roderick Hood has a sore groin and might not be able to play Week 6 against the Cowboys. If he can't play, rookie Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie will take his place.
Analysis: Hood might provide excellent pass coverage, but he doesn't do enough statistically to matter in Fantasy, and neither would Rodgers-Cromartie. Leave both on waivers.
News: Cardinals LB Karlos Dansby led all Arizona defenders with eight tackles in a Week 2 win over the Dolphins. Also chipping in with nice games were DB Roderick Hood (six tackles), DB Adrian Wilson (four tackles, one for loss), DL Bertrand Berry (four tackles, sack) and DL Bryan Robinson (sack).
Analysis: Wilson is a ball-hawking DB worth starting in all IDP leagues, while Dansby is a No. 2 LB. None of the other guys have any Fantasy value heading into Week 3 at Washington.
News: Cardinals DB Roderick Hood picked off Falcons QB Chris Redman in the end zone during Arizona's 30-27 overtime win over Atlanta in Week 16. Hood's pick was his fifth of the year and he added five tackles on the day.
Analysis: Hood is a decent DB, but he doesn't make enough plays to be considered more than a very low-end backup in IDP leagues. Leave him alone in Week 17 against the Rams.
News: Cardinals DB Roderick Hood had one of the finest days of his 5-year career during a Week 13 against the Browns. Hood picked off two Derek Anderson passes and returned one 71 yards for a touchdown to open the scoring. He had just one tackle in the game.
Analysis: Hood, who has four interceptions this season, takes on a larger role now that Eric Green (groin) is out for the year. What a way to respond. Hood remains a low-end Fantasy DB heading into Week 14 against the Seahawks.
News: Cardinals LB Gerald Hayes (nine tackles), DB Roderick Hood (six tackles), LB Calvin Pace (five tackles) and LB Darryl Blackstock (sack) all helped out in Arizona's 35-27 win over the Bengals in Week 11.
Analysis: Hayes, Hood and Pace have very minimal value as low-end reserves in IDP Fantasy leagues and shouldn't be used in Week 12 against the 49ers.
News: CB Roderick Hood recorded two solo tackles at Tampa Bay in Week 9.
Analysis: Hood isn't worth using in most Fantasy IDP leagues. Arizona hosts the Lions in Week 10.
News: LB Gerald Hayes (seven tackles), DB Roderick Hood (seven tackles), DB Terrence Holt (six tackles), DB Eric Green (five tackles), DB Adrian Wilson (five tackles) and DL Gabe Watson (five tackles) led the way tackle-wise for the Cardinals in a 25-10 loss to the Panthers in Week 6.
Analysis: Wilson is one of the best DBs in IDP Fantasy play and is a must-start every week, while Gerald Hayes has minimal value as a backup LB. None of the others have any Fantasy value.
News: Notable Cardinals defenders from Week 5 at St. Louis include: CB Rod Hood (two interceptions, two tackles, fumble-return for a touchdown), LB Karlos Dansby (15 total tackles), SS Adrian Wilson (two solo tackles, interception), DE Bert Berry (three solo tackles, sack), DE Calvin Pace (two solo tackles, sack) and LB Gerald Hayes (five solo tackles).
Analysis: Of these IDP options, Wilson and Dansby are must-starts while Berry and Pace are low-end choices in deeper leagues. Hood has a lot to prove to be considered for standard Fantasy use. Arizona hosts the Panthers in Week 6.
News: The Cardinals signed free-agent cornerback Roderick Hood to a five-year contract on Sunday. The 25-year-old Hood played for the Eagles last season, but missed six games because of injuries. He had 18 tackles and one sack. In 56 games with the Eagles, he collected 98 tackles, five interceptions, four fumble recoveries and a forced fumble. He's also returned kickoffs 53 times for 1,236 yards, an average of 23 yards per attempt, and made 40 special teams tackles.
Analysis: Hood will be a nice jack-of-all-trades player for the Cardinals, but not one who will help Fantasy owners succeed in 2007. Keep him off IDP league rosters.
News: Notable Eagles defenders from Week 16 at Dallas include: DB Quintin Mikell (four solo tackles), LB Jeremiah Trotter (five total tackles), CB Lito Sheppard (three solo tackles, interception), FS Brian Dawkins (three total tackles, one interception), DT Darwin Walker (three total tackles, sack), CB Rod Hood (tackle, sack, fumble recovery) and DE Darren Howard (two total tackles, sack).
Analysis: Of these players, Trotter, Sheppard, Dawkins and Howard are good IDP options for use vs. Atlanta in Week 17.
News: Eagles LB Matt McCoy (shoulder), LB Shawn Barber (neck) and DB Rod Hood (hamstring) are listed as questionable for Week 15 at N.Y. Giants.
Analysis: None of these players should be in your active lineup for Week 15.
News: The Eagles listed RB Ryan Moats, DB Roderick Hood, LB Matt McCoy, DL LaJuan Ramsey and WR Jason Avant as inactive for Week 14 at Washington.
Analysis: None of these players should be in your active lineup for Week 14.
News: Eagles DB Rod Hood (hamstring), DL Darren Howard (knee) and DB Michael Lewis (concussion) are listed as questionable, while LB Shawn Barber (knee), DB William James (knee), LB Matt McCoy (shoulder), DB Quintin Mikell (foot) and LB Jason Short (knee) are listed as probable for Week 14 at Washington.
Analysis: Howard and Lewis are decent Fantasy options in IDP leagues when healthy. Keep an eye on their status leading up to Sunday. Ignore the other injured players for now.
News: Eagles CB Rod Hood, who had been the team's nickel corner, was a healthy deactivation Sunday against Tennessee. Coach Andy Reid has given no explanation for the decision to deactivate Hood.
Analysis: Even when active, Hood is not a recommended Fantasy option.
News: The Eagles inactives for Week 11 against Tennessee are QB A.J. Feeley, RB Ryan Moats, DB Roderick Hood, DL LaJuan Ramsey, WR Jason Avant.
Analysis: Keep all these players reserved for Week 11.
News: Eagles CB Rod Hood was activated for Sunday's game against Jacksonville after missing the previous four games with a heel injury. He only played on special teams Sunday. Ordinarily, Hood is the team's nickel corner.
Analysis: Hood is not a recommended Fantasy option in IDP formats at the current time.
News: Eagles DB Roderick Hood (heel) was among the active players for Week 8 vs. Jacksonville.
Analysis: Hood is not a recommended Fantasy option in IDP formats for Week 8.
News: Eagles CB Rod Hood (heel) and RB Thomas Tapeh (groin) are questionable, while DE Darren Howard (groin) and LB Matt McCoy (hip) are probable for Week 8 vs. Jacksonville.
Analysis: Howard and McCoy are worth using as reserves in IDP leagues. Hood and Tapeh have no value at this time.
News: Notable inactives for Week 7's Eagles-Bucs game include: QB A.J. Feeley (emergency QB), CB Rod Hood, RB/KR Reno Mahe, LB Matt McCoy and DL LaJuan Ramsey. For Tampa Bay, QB Chris Simms, CB Brian Kelly, CB Alan Zemaitis, FB Jerald Sowell, WR Maurice Stovall and WR/KR Mark Jones are inactive.
Analysis: None of these players should be active for Week 7 Fantasy play.
News: Even though the Philadelphia Eagles have allowed more yards passing than usual, quarterbacks shouldn't salivate at the thought of facing a once-vaunted secondary. The Eagles (4-2) are 27th against the pass, allowing an average of 237.7 yards through the air per game. However, defensive coordinator Jim Johnson is confident a unit that includes five-time Pro Bowl free safety Brian Dawkins, former Pro Bowl cornerback Lito Sheppard and fellow cornerback Sheldon Brown still is a formidable group.
Analysis: Johnson points to injuries - Sheppard missed three games and nickel back Rod Hood has been sidelined the last three - and other factors such as the Eagles had big leads in many of their games and played a bend-but-don't-break defense. While the secondary has played better than the numbers indicate, some of those big plays have been costly. Brown was beaten by Plaxico Burress for a game-winning, 31-yard TD catch in a 30-24 overtime loss to the New York Giants in Week 2. Lewis, a Pro Bowl selection two years ago, bit on a fake and gave up Joe Horn's tying 48-yard TD catch in a 27-24 loss to the Saints last week. Michael Lewis was replaced by second-year pro Sean Considine and both are expected to play against Tampa Bay on Sunday. Consider them a good unit to use in any format for Week 7 at Tampa Bay against a team that has struggled offensively.
News: Eagles CB Rod Hood missed his third consecutive game Sunday against the Saints with a heel strain. He's doubtful for this week's game against Tampa Bay.
Analysis: Stay away from Hood in IDP leagues for the time being.
News: The Eagles listed QB A.J. Feely (emergency QB), CB Roderick Hood, RB Reno Mahe, DT LaJuan Ramsey and WR Donte' Stallworth as inactive for Week 6 at New Orleans.
Analysis: None of these players should be in your active lineup for Week 6.
News: Eagles DB Roderick Hood (heel) is doubtful for Week 6 at New Orleans. He did not practice on Wednesday.
Analysis: Stay away from Hood in IDP leagues for the time being.
News: Eagles CB Rod Hood missed his second straight game Sunday with a heel strain. Chances are he'll also miss this week's game against New Orleans. Joselio Hanson replaced him as the third corner Sunday.
Analysis: Owners should pass on Hood in Fantasy play.
News: The Philadelphia Eagles listed QB A.J. Feeley, WR Donte' Stallworth, LB Dedrick Roper, OL Max Jean-Gilles, OL Patrick McCoy, CB Roderick Hood, DL Sam Rayburn, OL Winston Justice as inactive for Week 5 vs. Dallas.
Analysis: None of these players should be in you active lineup for Week 5.
News: Eagles DB Roderick Hood (heel) is doubtful for Week 5 vs. Dallas. He did not practice on Wednesday.
Analysis: Hood is usable as a bye-week cornerback in the deepest of Fantasy leagues so long as he is starting. Otherwise, owners should pass on him.
News: Eagles coach Andy Reid had this to say on CB Rod Hood: "(He) has the heel strain. He will not practice (Wednesday). He is getting better but he is not there yet."
Analysis: Hood is usable as a bye-week cornerback in the deepest of Fantasy leagues so long as he is starting. Otherwise, owners should pass on him.
News: Starting cornerback Lito Sheppard (ankle) and backup Roderick Hood (heel) were inactive for Week 4 against the Packers.
Analysis: Hood and Sheppard might be able to return for Week 5 against Dallas, but only Lito is worth a look in IDP leagues.
News: In addition to RB Brian Westbrook the Eagles declared QB A.J. Feeley (emergencey QB), DB Lito Sheppard, DB Roderick Hood and DT Sam Rayburn inactive for Week 4 vs. Green Bay.
Analysis: Aside from Westbrook, Sheppard and Hood, none of these players are worth owning in Fantasy leagues at the moment. Ignore them until further notice.
News: Eagles CB Rod Hood (heel), who has been starting in place of Lito Sheppard, missed practice Saturday and could also miss Monday night's game. He remains listed as doubtful.
Analysis: Look to use another DB option in place of Hood in IDP leagues for Week 4.
News: The Eagles announced Wednesday that cornerbacks Lito Sheppard (ankle) and Rod Hood (heel) were both doubtful for Week 4 vs. Green Bay. Sheppard has missed two games while Hood started last week but didn't finish the Week 3 game at San Francisco.
Analysis: When healthy, Sheppard makes for a good No. 2 Fantasy cornerback or a No. 3 DB; the same can't be said for Hood, though. Neither player should not be counted on for use in IDP leagues at this time.
News: After being listed as doubtful for the Week 3 game at San Francisco, CB Rod Hood played. He played for a full half and was in and out of the game in the third quarter when his leg tightened up on him. "I felt like I had a shot to help," Hood said to the Philadelphia Daily News. "I didn't know how long I could help, but I felt like I had a shot."
Analysis: Hood is usable as a bye-week cornerback in the deepest of Fantasy leagues so long as he is starting. Otherwise, owners should pass on him.
News: Injuries have left the Eagles thin in the secondary. Starting corner Lito Sheppard went down in Week 1 with an ankle injury that could keep him out for 3-5 weeks. Then, last week, his replacement, Rod Hood, injured his heel. He likely will miss Sunday's game against San Francisco. With Sheppard and Hood out, Joselio Hanson, who is just four months removed from NFL Europe, will start against the 49ers. Dexter Wynn, who was cut in the preseason and then re-signed last week after Sheppard got hurt, will be the nickel corner. Dustin Fox, who was signed off the practice squad Tuesday, will be the fourth corner.
Analysis: The Eagles pass defense could be in for some trouble Sunday, if the front seven can't get any pressure on 49ers QB Alex Smith, who has been one of the league's best passers through two weeks. Not to mention the loss of DE Jevon Kearse will be huge. Be careful with playing the Eagles DST in Week 3. As far as IDP players are concerned, Hanson, Wynn and Fox shouldn't be expected in Week 3 to post huge numbers.
News: Eagles coach Andy Reid said Friday that CB Rod Hood (heel) did not practice but will travel with the team to San Francisco for Week 3. "We'll see how he does," Reid said.
Analysis: Hood is a replacement CB when he's not a nickel or dimeback. He should not be relied upon for use in Fantasy play.
News: Eagles coach Andy Reid said Wednesday that CB Rod Hood is doubtful for Week 3 at San Francisco with a heel strain. Hood did not practice Wednesday. "(Joselio) Hanson did some good things in the game and he'll get better every week that he has an opportunity to play in the system," Reid said of his depleted CB corps. "Obviously, he'd be the guy that is in there if Rod can't go. And Dexter (Wynn) gets another week under his belt with practice. And (Dustin) Fox is learning right now. He'll have an opportunity to do some things there."
Analysis: Hood is a replacement CB when he's not a nickel or dimeback. He should not be relied upon for use in Fantasy play.
News: Eagles coach Andy Reid said Monday that CB Rod Hood suffered a strained heel vs. the Giants in Week 2. Reid added that Hood has a chance of playing in Week 3 at San Francisco.
Analysis: Hood is a replacement CB when he's not a nickel or dimeback. He should not be relied upon for use in Fantasy play.
News: Eagles DB Roderick Hood went into the locker room shortly before halftime with a heel injury Sunday and did not take the field with the starters for the second half of their game against the Giants.
Analysis: The Eagles entered the game short on cornerbacks following an ankle injury to Lito Sheppard in last week's win over the Houston Texans. Hood, who coach Andy Reid has described as a third starting corner, moved into Sheppard's spot and the team signed Dexter Wynn, a final roster cut at the end of the preseason, for depth. Nickel back Joselio Hanson replaced Hood.
News: The Eagles announced that restricted free-agent CB Roderick Hood signed his contract tender.
Analysis: Hood won't start for the Eagles at this point and is mostly unreliable for regular Fantasy stats in 2006.
News: PhiladelphiaEagles.com reports the team has offered restricted free agent CB Roderick Hood a first-round tender.
Analysis: Hood recorded 42 total tackles and three interceptions in 2005.
