News: ESPN is among a number of sources reporting the Rams will cut safety Quintin Mikell. He would have counted $9 million against the salary cap.
Analysis: Mikell has been a great source of tackles for several years and just had his first 100-total-tackle campaign in 2012, adding three sacks and four forced fumbles to go with it. He has seen a dip in passes defensed in two years with St. Louis but with his nose getting dirty stopping offensive players most Fantasy owners haven't seemed to mind. If Mikell lands on his feet he has value as at least a No. 2 Fantasy DB.
News: For the second straight game, Rams defensive back Quintin Mikell had both a sack and a forced fumble Week 16 at Tampa Bay. He also recorded double-digit tackles for just the second time this season, finishing with 11, including 10 solo.
Analysis: Mikell has just three sacks and four forced fumbles this season, so it's not like either is especially common for him. He's done a good job of putting himself in the right position for a big play over the last couple weeks, though. At defensive back, his tackles alone are enough to make him a worthwhile option in Fantasy IDP leagues.
News: Rams defensive back Quintin Mikell recorded his second sack of the season Week 15 against the Vikings. Both have come in his last five games. He also had five tackles, all solo, and a forced fumble in the contest.
Analysis: Defensive backs don't normally contribute a bunch of sacks, and Mikell is no exception. He'll get more tackles than the average defensive back, but not enough to make him a must-own in Fantasy IDP leagues. He's more like fringe option in those formats.
News: Rams defensive back Quintin Mikell lead the team in tackles in Week 14 against the Bills. He had nine stops -- eight solo -- in a 15-12 win.
Analysis: Mikell has been productive this season, and has an outside chance to reach 90 tackles for the fourth times in five seasons. He has 76 stops with three games remaining, though he is at risk of going without an interception for the first time since 2006. Continue to consider him a viable Fantasy IDP option.

Analysis: Mikell was active all over the field Sunday as he also forced a fumble for the second game in a row. Fantasy owners in deeper IDP formats should keep track of his progression in deeper formats as he could warrant an addition.

News: Rams safety Quintin Mikell was forced out of Thursday night's game against the Cardinals after suffering an apparent head injury. Mikell took a knee to the helmet in the second quarter and remained motionless on the field for a couple of minutes. He was able to walk off on his own power and finished with three tackles (one solo) in a 17-3 victory.
Analysis: Mikell 's injury appeared to be serious as he fell motionless on the ground. He was bale walk off on his own, which is a good sign for Fantasy owners. He'll likely be evaluated in the coming days, so we'll continue to keep an eye on his status moving forward. Mikell will have a few extra days to recover before he faces the Dolphins in Week 6. Fantasy owners should view him as a viable IDP option, when healthy.

Analysis: Mikell now has 17 tackles on the season, which has him on pace for about 107 on the season (he had 91 in 2011). Owned in 70 percent of leagues, Mikell is a decent IDP option and should be started in most formats heading into Week 4 against Seattle.

Analysis: Mikell now has 11 tackles on the season in two games for the Rams. That comes after racking up 91 tackles last season, his first for St. Louis. News: St. Louis DB Quintin Mikell registered a team-high 10 tackles, including eight solo stops, during the Rams' 20-13 loss to Cincinnati in Week 15. Mikell also tallied a pass defended for the second time over the past three games for St. Louis.
Analysis: Mikell reached double-digits in tackles for the second time this season as he now has 78 total stops. He is poised to top 80 tackles for the fourth straight year despite not recording a sack since the season opener. Consider Mikell a solid option in most Fantasy IDP formats.

News: Rams DB Quintin Mikell made five tackles in a Week 10 win over the Browns. It was the third straight game in which Mikell failed to make more than five tackles or force a turnover.

News: St. Louis DB Quintin Mikell had just two tackles and one pass defended in Week 9 against Arizona. The Cardinals would go on to win the game, 19-13, over the Rams.
Analysis: This was a low total of tackles for Mikell as he's normally contributing more for Fantasy owners in IDP leagues. Still, he does enough on a regular basis to be considered a low-end No. 2 DB option.
News: Rams DB Quintin Mikell, who had a season-high 10 tackles at Dallas in Week 7, wasn't quite as productive Week 8 against the Saints. He finished with five tackles, all solo.
Analysis: Mikell is a pretty good tackler for a defensive back, but he isn't a reliable source of interceptions, having recorded no more than three in any NFL season. He's a low-end No. 2 DB in Fantasy IDP leagues.
News: St. Louis DB Quintin Mikell recorded a team-high 10 tackles in Week 7 versus Dallas. Eight of those were solo tackles. The Rams would end up losing the game, 34-7.

News: Rams DB Quintin Mikell was fairly productive in Week 3 against the Ravens. Mikell finished with a team-high six tackles, all solo in the 37-7 defeat.
Analysis: Mikell has been very active for the first three weeks of the season and seems on pace a big year in St. Louis. He is a solid source for tackles and pass defended, so leave him active in the majority of formats heading into Week 4 against Washington.
News: Rams DB Quintin Mikell collected his first interception of the season in Week 2 against the Giants. He picked off QB Eli Manning on the first drive of the game and also recorded seven tackles in the 28-16 loss.

Analysis: Mikell's injury was considered minor, but he reaffirmed Saturday that the setback would not slow him down as the Rams prepare for the regular season. Mikell was a solid addition from Philadelphia during the offseason, and should be considered a viable option in the middle rounds of Fantasy IDP drafts.
News: Rams DB Quintin Mikell had an up and down debut with his new team during Saturday's preseason opener against the Colts. Mikell picked off a Curtis Painter pass on the third play of the game, and his 25-yard return to the Colts 16 set up a 6-yard scoring catch and run by rookie tight end Lance Kendricks. But Mikell also was injured in the game (left elbow), although the injury is thought to be minor.
Analysis: Keep an eye on Mikell and hopefully he will be fine for the start of the season. The Rams signed Mikell this offseason from the Eagles. Consider him a No. 2 DB in IDP leagues on Draft Day as long as he's 100 percent.
News: S Quintin Mikell agreed to a four-year deal with the Rams, according to The Sports Xchange. Terms were not disclosed. Mikell will be 31 in September.
Analysis: The Rams have only three other safeties under contract: James Butler, Craig Dahl and Darian Stewart following the release of Oshiomogho Atogwe. Mikell was at Philadelphia when Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo was part of the defensive staff. Mikell is getting up there in age, but he is still a good safety, so view him as a viable No. 2 Fantasy DB on Draft Day. Think middle- to late-round pick on him.
News: Eagles DB Quintin Mikell once again led the team in tackles in the Week 16 Tuesday night loss to the Vikings. Mikell registered nine stops in the game and one tackle for a loss.
Analysis: The nine tackles gives Mikell 88 tackles for the season to go with three interceptions and one sack. He failed to get a pick in his third straight game, but still had a nice performance. He tackles well for a defensive back and deserves to be active in Fantasy IDP leagues for Week 17 against the Cowboys.

Analysis: Mikell is now just one INT away from tying his season-best mark set in 2008. He has always racked up a good number of tackles from the DB spot. Continue to roll with the former Boise State Bronco in Fantasy play heading into the Week 15 game against the Giants.
News: Eagles DB Quintin Mikell totaled a team-high seven solo tackles in Week 13 against the Texans. He had one tackle for loss and two pass defenses. He has 66 tackles in 12 games.
Analysis: Mikell is in jeopardy of failing to record 90-plus tackles for a third straight season if he doesn't finish the season on a high note. Still, he has been solid against the pass and rush in 2010 and is still worth using as a No. 2 Fantasy DB.
News: Philadelphia safety Quintin Mikell had his lowest tackling output of the season in Week 12, registering just two stops in the Eagles' loss at Chicago.
Analysis: Mikell, who entered the game with 57 tackles, has struggled a bit this season. He only has one interception and now has six games this season with five tackles or less. He remains a decent Fantasy play, at best, going forward.

The 31-yard penalty led to the Giant's first touchdown of the game. Mikell was able to break up a pass intended for WR Derek Hagan in the fourth quarter. He missed one play of action after getting the wind knocked out of him.
Analysis: Mikell is a great DB in run support, but he typically falls victim to the passing game like he did on Sunday night. Still, the amount of tackles he racks up and the occasional turnover he creates warrant him value in Fantasy play. Keep him active moving forward.
News: Eagles DB Quintin Mikell had a quiet game against the Eagles in Week 1o. He recorded just four tackles in the 59-28 win.
Analysis: Mikell has only registered fewer than five tackles twice this season so Fantasy owners should not get down on him after Week 10. He has 51 tackles on the year with a sack, one interception and nine passes defended. He also had a fumble reception for a touchdown. Continue to view Mikell as a viable option in most Fantasy IDP formats heading into Week 11 against the Giants.
News: Eagles DB Quintin Mikell and Kurt Coleman sandwiched Colts WR Austin Collie in Week 9, a hit that would send Collie off the field on a stretcher. The Colts receiver was diagnosed with a concussion, and the Eagles were tagged with a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty. Mikell had a total of eight tackles -- six solo -- in Week 9.
Analysis: Mikell was all over the place in Week 9 and has 47 tackles on the season. He doesn't excel in any one category, but he's worth using in the majority of IDP Fantasy leagues. The Eagles face the Redskins in Week 10, a team he registered seven tackles against in their first meeting.
News: Eagles DB Quintin Mikell was credited with a sack and a pass defensed in Week 7 against the Titans. He also managed an interception, forced a fumble and notched five sacks.

News: Eagles veteran DB Quintin Mikell recorded four tackles and defended a pass in Sunday's loss to the Packers. Mikell is paired with rookie DB Nate Allen, who recorded his first NFL interception on Sunday, in the secondary. The two combined for nine tackles.
Analysis: Mikell has recorded consecutive 90-tackle seasons and will try to do so again in 2010. Mikell is in the final year of his contract, so Fantasy owners can hope they struck gold with him in IDP drafts. We view him as a low-end Fantasy DB, but he does have a favorable matchup in Week 2 against Detroit.
News: Even though Eagles DB Quintin Mikell made the Pro Bowl as a third alternate in 2009, he said he was distracted last season as he was upset Philadelphia didn't give him a contract extension. "I realized at the end of the day you can't control none of that stuff," Mikell told The Philadelphia Inquirer. "All we can control is what we put on the field, and I've come to peace with that. . . . It's a hard lesson." Mikell said he tried too hard to fill the leadership role of Brian Dawkins, who left last season for Denver. "Last year, there were a lot of contributing factors to that situation," Eagles defensive coordinator Sean McDermott said. "[Mikell] persevered, and that's the important thing. I think he's better off for it."
Analysis: Mikell has posted back-to-back 90-tackle seasons and will once again be asked to pair with a rookie safety -- this time Nate Allen. Mikell is in the final year of his contract, so he will be motivated for a big season so he can cash in. However, since he doesn't get a ton of sacks or interceptions, he remains a low-end Fantasy start.

Analysis: Cole is the best Fantasy contributor in this group, and is a solid starting DL in all Fantasy formats. Mikell also has some value in deeper leagues, but the other guys are not worth using in IDP play. The Eagles are off in Week 4, so be sure to bench Cole and Mikell.

Analysis: Bradley had a nice game but won't help out much in Week 17 vs. Buffalo. Sheppard and Cole should do a little better, so consider them decent options in that game. Bradley has a shot to be an impact IDP option in 2008, as does Mikell.
News: Eagles DB Quintin Mikell had his first interception of the season Week 15 at Dallas, but he fumbled it on the return. He also had two tackles.
Analysis: Mikell only has 61 tackles on the season, so his interception doesn't do enough to redeem his Fantasy value. Leave him on waivers.
News: Eagles inactives for Week 13 vs. Seattle include: DB Quintin Mikell, RB Tony Hunt DL Victor Abiamiri, DL Brodrick Bunkley and DL Montae Reagor. QB Donovan McNabb is also out.

News: The Eagles' list of inactives for Week 12 at New England includes RB Tony Hunt, DB Quintin Mikell, DL Kimo von Oelhoffen, DL Victor Abiamiri and DL Montae Reagor.
Analysis: None of these players contributes enough statistically to have value in Fantasy even when active. Keep all reserved for Week 13 against the Seahawks.
News: The Eagles downgraded DB Quintin Mikell (knee) from doubtful to out for Week 12 at New England. Philadelphia might have to start third-string J.R. Reed in his place.

News: Strong safety Sean Considine will miss the rest of the season after hurting his left shoulder in the Eagles' loss to Dallas on Sunday night. Quintin Mikell will replace Considine in the starting lineup against the Washington Redskins on Sunday. Mikell started five games at free safety when Brian Dawkins was sidelined. "I could play both. It's just little nuances here or there," Mikell said of switching spots.
Analysis: Mikell is at best a desperation Fantasy DB at this point, though he could develop into a quality Fantasy option in time. Don't expect him to be useful in Week 10 at Washington.
News: Eagles LB Omar Gaither (seven tackles), DB Lito Sheppard (seven tackles), DB Quintin Mikell (seven tackles), LB Chris Gocong (six tackles) and DL Mike Patterson (four tackles) all made decent contributions in Philadelphia's 19-16 loss to the Bears.

They totaled nine sacks with DE Nick Cole (three sacks), DE Juqua Thomas (two sacks) and DT Brodrick Bunkley (two sacks) leading the way. DB Quintin Mikell had one sack, while one sack was credited to the team. Thomas and Mikell also had fumble recoveries.
Analysis: Cole is the only one of these players with any value in IDP leagues and could be worth a start st DE against the Giants in Week 4. The Eagles DST's secondary is beat up, so wait to see how healthy they get during the week before starting them on Sunday against their division rivals.
News:The Sports Xchange reports Eagles DB Quintin Mikell could get his first career start Sunday against the Lions if DB Brian Dawkins is unable to play. Mikell, a five-year veteran, is the Eagles' special teams captain.
Analysis: Unless Mikell becomes a full-time starter, he won't be worth using in Fantasy leagues on a weekly basis. Ignore him at this time.

But I'm at the time of my life where I should be trying to change over to doing more on defense. I'm not exactly sure how they're going to use me or what packages I'll be in, but I'm looking forward to being on the field more.
Analysis: Mikell doesn't play enough on defense to warrant using in IDP leagues in 2007, but he could supplant Sean Considine as starting safety at some point this season, so keep an eye on him.
