News: The Patriots announced Wednesday that they have released running back Joseph Addai. He was signed this offseason to provide depth behind Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen, but Addai struggled during offseason workouts.
Analysis: Addai will now look to latch on with a new team during training camp and hope to make the final roster. He was a solid Fantasy option in Indianapolis, but his best days are likely behind him. Keep an eye on where he ends up, but Addai should not be drafted in the majority of leagues this year.
News: The Patriots have signed former Colts running back Joseph Addai, the team confirmed Thursday. Terms were not disclosed. Addai, 29, was one of three veterans -- Ryan Grant (Packers) and Tim Hightower (Redskins) were the others -- to visit the team recently. The Patriots needed a veteran to aid second-year players Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen after BenJarvus Green-Ellis signed with the Bengals. Addai, a 2006 first-round pick, averaged 3.7 yards per carry last season and was released by the Colts in March.
Analysis: Addai's numbers have sunk like a rock over the last couple of seasons and there were times last year where he looked like a shell of his former self. He hasn't played 16 games since his rookie year and has played one season with 15 games in his last four. Moreover, splitting reps in New England won't help his numbers rebound. We wouldn't draft him unless it's made clear this summer that he'll start and see consistent playing time -- something we've rarely seen from Patriots running backs in the past.
News: The Boston Globe reports that the Patriots have agreed to a contract with former Colts running back Joseph Addai, according to a league source. Terms were not disclosed. News: The Indianapolis Star reports that the Colts have cut running back Joseph Addai. Addai scored one touchdown in 2011 on 118 carries, good for 433 yards. He added 93 yards on 15 catches while playing in 12 games. Donald Brown had a better year statistically.
Analysis: Addai is headed into backup duty, potentially in Baltimore with former Colts head coach Jim Caldwell now on staff. Addai's not someone who should be drafted in any standard format as his best days are seemingly behind him: He hasn't averaged 4.0 yards per carry in three of his last four seasons and hasn't played a full season since 2006.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai had just 19 yards on eight carries against the Jaguars on Sunday. He did not make a catch. Addai's season ends with 433 rush yards and one rushing touchdown, along with 93 receiving yards.
Analysis: With an inflated salary for 2012, reportedly $5 million, chances are Addai's days in Indianapolis are numbered. He probably has seen his best days as he was banged up and missed four games in 2011 and hasn't played 16 games since his rookie year in 2006. Addai will probably be an afterthought to Fantasy owners next summer.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai led his team with 59 rushing yards on Thursday night versus the Texans. Addai had a long run of 12 yards and carried the ball 19 times in the 19-16 win. Addai also had one catch for 8 yards. He also fumbled once, but his teammates recovered the ball.
Analysis: Addai and Donald Brown have taken turns being the more productive back this year, but neither has stepped up to the plate with Peyton Manning out of action. Addai and the Colts face the Jaguars in Week 17. Fantasy owners should not be using Addai though as he's just too inconsistent.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai totaled 20 yards on 11 carries in Week 15 against the Titans. He also had two catches for 7 yards.
Analysis: Addai has 11 or more carries in two of his last three games. Unfortunately, he hasn't broken 40 yards in either of those contests. Donald Brown led the Colts with 161 rushing yards Week 15 and has been the team's led back as of late. Addai is not a recommended Fantasy start heading into Week 16 against the Texans.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai heads into Week 15 against the Titans with three rushing touchdowns in his last three games against Tennessee. RBs are averaging 106.1 rushing yards per game and 17.5 Fantasy points per week against Tennessee. RBs have also totaled nine touchdowns (six rushing) against Tennessee.
Analysis: Addai missed the first matchup against Tennessee in Week 8 due to a hamstring injury -- an injury that has sent him into a backup role on offense. Addai had just two carries in Week 14 and is playing second fiddle at RB to Donald Brown. While Addai has a good history against Tennessee, it's just too risky to trust him in Fantasy.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai netted just two carries for 16 yards in Week 14 against the Ravens. His longest carry went 15 yards. Addai was targeted once in the passing game, but he had no receptions.
Analysis: Addai's hamstring problems has taken him out of the feature role in Indy, and he is now part of a three-RB rotation with Donald Brown and Delone Carter. Addai is not a trustworthy Fantasy option heading into Week 15 against the Titans.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai heads into his Week 14 showdown with the Ravens sporting a favorable history against the AFC North opponent. Including postseason, Addai has three rushing touchdowns in five career games against Baltimore. Although, this time around, Addai is going to have to fight for whatever yards he can get against Baltimore. The Ravens are yielding 79.4 rushing yards and 12.5 Fantasy points per game to RBs, which is fourth-lowest in the NFL. RBs also have just six touchdowns in 12 games against Baltimore.
Analysis: Addai returned to the lineup in Week 12 after missing three straight games with a hamstring injury. Unfortunately, he hasn't settled into a rhythm since returning. He averaged 3.3 yards per carry in Week 12 and followed that up with a 3.0 yards per carry average in Week 13. To make matters worse, Addai is losing carries to Donald Brown, who has scored in four of the last seven games. Even with his strong history against Baltimore, Addai is a desperation Fantasy start Week 14.
News: Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai finished with 13 carries for 39 yards during the Colts' 31-24 loss to New England in Week 13. Addai received the start despite being listed as questionable on the team's injury report with a linger hamstring issue and posted a season-low three yards per attempt. It was the second game in a row Addai has played as he managed consecutive outings for the first time since the beginning of October.
Analysis: Addai was not expected to receive a full workload after being a late addition to the injury report. However, he finished with fewer than one carry than Donald Brown as Indianapolis' run game was limited to just 99 yards. Addai received goal-line carries in the first half, but Brown was the only Colts running back to reach the end zone -- a trend that is likely to continue. Consider Addai a No. 4 Fantasy RB for Week 14 at Baltimore.
News: Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai is active for Week 13 against New England despite a troublesome hamstring injury. He was listed as questionable on the team's injury report after missing practice last Friday. Addai has not topped 10 carries since Oct. 3.
Analysis: Addai had a rushing touchdown in his last meeting against the Patriots, but might not receive many scoring opportunities during Sunday's game. RB Donald Brown rumbled for a season-high 80 yards during the Colts' loss to Carolina in Week 12 and is expected to carry the load again versus New England, which is yielding an average of 15.8 Fantasy points per game to opposing running backs this year. Addai should only be considered a low-end option in deeper Fantasy formats at this point in the season.
News: Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai is listed as questionable on the team's injury report for Week 13 at New England because of a lingering hamstring issue. Addai was added to the Colts' list Friday after he did not practice for the first time this week. He has missed four of his past six games with the injury as RB Donald Brown has taken over as Indianapolis' primary option in the backfield. Addai has not topped 10 carries since Oct. 3.
Analysis: Addai had a rushing touchdown in his last meeting against the Patriots, but might not receive many scoring opportunities during Sunday's game. Brown rumbled for a season-high 80 yards during the Colts' loss to Carolina in Week 12 and is expected to carry the load again versus New England, which is yielding an average of 15.8 Fantasy points per game to opposing running backs this year. Fantasy owners should not consider Addai a worthwhile option in Week 13 as he could remain limited because of the hamstring.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai started the Carolina game Week 12 but saw limited playing time. Addai's strained right hamstring, which forced him to miss four of the previous five games, remains an issue. The hamstring is still sore and doesn't allow him to have enough strength in the leg.
Analysis: At least now we have a reason for why Donald Brown eventually paced the rushing attack Sunday. We were really hoping Addai would be fresh off the bye and be a nice sleeper Fantasy option for Week 12 against a poor run defense, but alas Addai continues to disappoint. At this juncture, he is not a recommended Fantasy option heading into Week 13 at New England.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai got the start Week 12 against the Panthers in his return from a hamstring injury, but he wasn't the team's leading rusher. That distinction went to Donald Brown, who ran 14 times for 80 yards. By comparison, Addai had seven carries for 23 yards, with 16 of those yards coming on a single carry in the second quarter.
Analysis: Brown performed so well in Addai's absence that you can't be too surprised by the distribution of carries in Week 12. Brown now has 203 rushing yards on 44 carries over the team's last three games. Addai has 280 yards on 65 carries in seven games this season. Though the two are likely to split carries in some form or fashion to close out the season, Brown looks like the clear frontrunner right now. Even with Addai apparently recovered from the injury that sidelined him for the better part of five games, he's not worth using as even a No. 3 Fantasy RB at New England in Week 13.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai, who has gotten only two carries over the team's last five games because of a hamstring injury, is not only active for Week 12 against the Panthers, but he's listed as the team's starter. Donald Brown has been getting most of the work in Addai's absence.
Analysis: Addai practiced in full this week, but on Friday, he seemed less than certain that he was ready to play. Brown has been effective enough in his absence that the Colts don't have any reason to give Addai anywhere close to a full load. The matchup against the Panthers is a favorable one, but Addai is still a risky Fantasy option given his uncertain workload after such a long layoff.
News: Despite being a full participant in practice this past week, Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai (hamstring) said he might not return to the lineup in Week 12 against Carolina. Addai has been inactive twice and dressed as an emergency back twice but not played because of the hamstring issue. He was listed as questionable on the team's injury report. "It's really that fine line, being smart,'' Addai told the Indianapolis Star. "(With a hamstring), you want to go out there and play .... but you have to be smart about it. You could be almost there, push it and set yourself back.''
Analysis: Addai said he is receiving frequent treatments to combat the soreness in his hamstring. He initially suffered the injury against Kansas City on Oct. 9. "I feel good. I felt better today than I did yesterday," Addai told the Indianapolis Star. "I feel like there's a good chance (to play Sunday) just off of today's practice. I didn't have any setbacks.'' With the Colts sitting winless at 0-10 this season, it doesn't like Addai is in much of a rush to return to the field. Continue to monitor his status and prepare to have healthier option ready for Week 12.
News: Colts coach Jim Caldwell said RB Joseph Addai, who has missed four of the last five games with a hamstring injury, practiced Wednesday in prep for Week 12 vs. Carolina.
Analysis: If Addai makes it through the practice week with no setbacks, then he returns in time for a very favorable matchup. The Panthers are yielding 26.4 Fantasy points per week to RBs, which is the highest average in the NFL. Carolina has also allowed RBs to total 16 touchdowns (11 rushing). However, even if Addai returns, the Colts will probably still use Donald Brown and Delone Carter to ease some of the burden on Addai. If Addai is active, he is at best a No. 3 Fantasy RB or flex option.
News: Colts coach Jim Caldwell said Monday that RB Joseph Addai (hamstring) could possibly return to action Week 12 against Carolina after missing four of five games. "Haven't seen him yet today but I'm sure [team trainers will] get their hands on him and we'll get an assessment a little later on," Caldwell said.
Analysis: Addai said prior to his team's Week 11 bye that he was expecting to return Week 12, but the team will have to see how he performs in practice. The Panthers have an awful run defense, but the Colts won't need to lean on Addai if he is not yet 100 percent. Donald Brown and Delone Carter could also help in the run game. If Addai is active, he is at best a No. 3 Fantasy RB or flex option.
News: RB Joseph Addai will continue to rest his right hamstring during the Colts' bye week and is hopeful of being able to play against Carolina in Week 12. "Ive got that whole week to just relax and let the hamstring kind of rest," Addai said.
Analysis: Addai has missed the last three games and the bye comes at the opportune time. If he does return to full strength by Week 12, then awaiting him is a favorable matchup. Addai could be worth using as a No. 3 Fantasy RB in Week 12, so continue to track his progress.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai, who has been dealing with a strained hamstring since Week 5, is inactive for Week 10 against the Jaguars. Addai wasn't able to practice all week because of the injury. Donald Brown will start in his place, with Delone Carter also getting carries.
Analysis: Addai has been active as an emergency option over the last couple weeks, but he apparently still hasn't made enough progress for the Colts to feel comfortable using him. He's getting harder and harder to stash in Fantasy, especially considering he would likely split carries with Brown and Carter when he returns. Keep an eye on his status over the team's Week 11 bye. The Colts will host the Panthers, who have struggled against the run, in Week 12.
News: Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai (hamstring) was unable to return to practice Friday and is considered questionable for Week 10 against Jacksonville. Addai has been dealing with the injury for several weeks and did not practice throughout the past week. He could be utilized an emergency option again in Sunday's game after serving in the role for Week 9 against San Francisco. Addai was active, but did not record a carry.
Analysis: Colts coach Jim Caldwell admitted Addai is not at 100 percent and his playing time could be limited again this week with Indianapolis' bye looking. Addai will miss a favorable matchup as he has registered five rushing touchdowns in his past four games against the Jaguars. Fantasy owners should certainly seek healthier alternatives as Addai is unlikely to be a major Fantasy producer in Week 10.
News: Colts coach Jim Caldwell said RB Joseph Addai (hamstring) remains limited and is "not quite 100 percent." Addai was active Week 9, but he was used as the emergency back and did not play. The Colts host Jacksonville in Week 10 but with a bye week following, Addai may be allowed additional recovery time. Probably. Were heading in that direction right now unless theres something that happens here in the next couple of days," Caldwell said Thursday.
Analysis: Injuries again continue to limit Addai's availability and continue to make him a risky Fantasy option. It wouldn't surprise us if Addai is used as the emergency back again Week 10, so Fantasy owners need to plan to use healthier alternatives.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai continued to miss practice on Wednesday due to his hamstring injury as Indianapolis prepares for Week 10 against Jacksonville. Addai has been active the last three games, despite dealing with the hamstring injury, though he's completely sat out the previous two.
Analysis: It seems doubtful that Addai will be a full go for the Week 10 game at this point. The Colts have been using Delone Carter and Donald Brown in the running game and appear happy to continue doing that until Addai can prove himself 100 percent healthy. Carter and Brown have both shown signs of potential in Addai's absence, so even when Addai returns, he'll probably be part of a split backfield. With no teams on bye in Week 10, Addai is an inadvisable start in Fantasy even if he's able to return against the Jaguars.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai was active for Week 9 against the Falcons, but as expected, he didn't get any playing time. The Colts have been cautious with him since he suffered a hamstring injury in Week 5. He has actually been active for three straight games now but hasn't played in the last two. Delone Carter started in his place Sunday and had four carries for 8 yards. Donald Brown led the team in rushing with 70 yards on 16 carries.
Analysis: Coach Jim Caldwell said earlier in the week that Addai would get plenty of playing time when he's "full-go," so apparently he isn't full-go yet. He was able to practice on Wednesday and Thursday leading up to Week 9 but then sat out Friday. Perhaps the Colts saw something that made them decide they should hold him out another week. Carter and Brown have both shown signs of potential in Addai's absence, so even when Addai returns, he'll probably be part of a split backfield. With no teams on bye in Week 10, Addai is an inadvisable start in Fantasy even if he's able to return against the Jaguars.
News: Even though Colts RB Joseph Addai is active for Week 9 against the Falcons, he isn't expected to get much playing time, according to FOX Sports. Addai, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury for several weeks now, will only be used in emergency situations.
Analysis: Addai was active for Week 8 and didn't end up playing, so this report isn't a complete shock. Still, coach Jim Caldwell said earlier this week that Addai would get plenty of work this week if he was "full-go." Apparently, he's not. Delone Carter started in his place Week 9.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (hamstring) is active for Week 9 against the Falcons, but according to multiple reports, RB Delone Carter will start the contest. Addai was active for Week 8 at Tennessee and ended up not playing, but coach Jim Caldwell said he would get plenty of work this week if he's "full-go."
Analysis: No word yet whether or not Addai is "full-go," but he was able to practice in full most of the week before resting Friday. Carter has done a decent job in Addai's absence, so a split backfield is the most-likely scenario. Addai wasn't offering much for Fantasy owners before initially suffering the injury in Week 5. With the Colts once again expected to be in catch-up mode for much of Week 9, Addai is at best a low-end No. 3 Fantasy RB.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai's status for Week 9 vs. Atlanta won't be determined until game time. He is listed as questionable. "If hes full-go and ready to go, then hell get a good load of [work]," coach Jim Caldwell said. "[We will] still get Delone [Carter] in there some, and obviously Donald [Brown] as well.
Analysis: Addai practiced in full most of the week before resting Friday. Even though he might be close to full strength, Carter and Brown give the running game balance and will allow Indy to limit the exposure of Addai having another setback. Even if Addai plays Sunday, he is a low-end No. 3 Fantasy RB or flex option at best. Atlanta is permitting an average of 14.7 Fantasy points per game this season and have allowed just two rushing touchdowns since Week 3.
News: Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday as he continues to overcome a hamstring injury. Addai has been hampered by the issue over the past few weeks, but only missed one game. The Colts face Atlanta in Week 9.
Analysis: Addai has just two carries for 27 yards in his past two games played as he's struggled to be effective in the Colts' woeful offense. He'll likely play against the Falcons, but could share carries with Delone Carter in the backfield. Atlanta is permitting an average of 14.7 Fantasy points per game this season and have allowed just two rushing touchdowns since Week 3. Continue to monitor his status while considering him a low-end No. 3 Fantasy RB if he plays Sunday.
News: Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai was a full participant in practice Wednesday despite a knee issue. Addai had been bothered by a hamstring injury in recent weeks, but was listed on the practice report with a knee injury as the team prepares for its matchup against Atlanta in Week 9.
Analysis: Addai missed one game with the hamstring injury and was not utilized in Week 8 despite being active against Tennessee. The 28-year-old has just two carries for 27 yards in his past two games played as he's struggled to be effective in the poor Colts offense.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai was active for the Week 8 game in Tennessee, despite his hamstring injury. That said, Delone Carter was the starter, Donald Brown the backup and Addai didn't even touch the football against the Titans. The Colts wanted to make sure Addai is healthy for Week 9, so they only activated him for use in case of emergency. The plan was never to give him many reps during the Week 8 game. Addai finished the contest without a touch for the Colts as he didn't even get onto the field. Its almost there, probably another week of rest Ill be there, Addai said. I cant bank on that because those things kind of linger. It was a situation if Donald (Brown) or Delone (Carter) went down I wouldve been out there.
Analysis: Addai should be healthy enough for touches by the Colts' next game. The Colts' muddled running back situation will next perform Week 9 at home against Atlanta. The Falcons have been solid at limiting the run this season and are not giving up many Fantasy points per game to opposing running backs. In fact, the Falcons have only allowed two rushing touchdowns since Week 3 and have been getting stronger at stopping the run. Addai will certainly be one week healthier in Week 9 and that could lead to a split in carries with Carter and possibly Brown as well. For that, consider Addai no better than a low-end No. 3 Fantasy RB against the Falcons in Week 9.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (hamstring) is active for the Week 8 game at Tennessee on on Sunday. That said, the Colts are unsure how much he's going to help. The team will continue to start Delone Carter in the backfield against the Titans.
Analysis: Addai did the same thing last week leading up to Week 7, returning to practice Friday before he lasted just a few plays in the game. The Colts want to protect him and they are also happy with Carter. You have to believe that Addai will be limited against the Titans. He is a very risky start for Week 8, though playing Sunday.

News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (hamstring) returned to a full practice Friday as the team prepares for Week 8 at Tennessee. He is officially listed as questionable.
Analysis: Addai did the same thing last week leading up to Week 7, returning to practice Friday before he lasted just a few plays in the game. Even if Addai is active Sunday, you have to think he will be limited or the fear of another setback would make you reconsider starting him in Fantasy. He is a risky play -- active or not.
News: Colts coach Jim Caldwell said Thursday that he is awaiting clearance from doctors on whether or not RB Joseph Addai (hamstring) will be available Week 8 at Tennessee. "It just depends on what happens with Joseph," Caldwell said of his RB rotation. "He is at this point really coming along, but doctors will give us the clear go-ahead here shortly at some point in time. When that's determined, we'll make a determination on how they'll work. Obviously, if Joe can go he'll go. If not, it will be the two guys (Delone Carter and Donald Brown) who have doing it for us thus far."
Analysis: Even if Addai is active Week 8, you would think he would be limited after he didn't last long Week 7 once he returned to the lineup. Fantasy owners probably should plan to start healthier alternatives in Week 8 since Addai is shaping up to be a risky option. Carter is the best Colts running back to start in Fantasy.
News: Colts coach Jim Caldwell said Wednesday that RB Joseph Addai, who returned to the lineup Week 7 before aggravating a hamstring injury, will do limited work in practice. However, the official injury report said Addai did not practice. Indianapolis is at Tennessee in Week 8. The Titans rank 24th in the league against the run, giving up over 124 yards per game, and have allowed an average of 21.7 Fantasy points to opposing running backs.
Analysis: Even if Addai practices this week and dresses on Sunday, you would have to think he won't be asked to pace the rushing attack seeing how he doesn't appear close to 100 percent. We expect Delone Carter and Donald Brown to also be in the mix for carries. Addai will remain a risky Fantasy start if he is active Week 8.
News: Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai, who missed last week with a hamstring injury, left Sunday nights contest in New Orleans after he aggravated that same injury. He had two carries for 8 yards (7 coming on one run) before leaving the game. Addai also caught both passes thrown his way for a total of 11 yards. The Colts would get beat by the Saints, 62-7.
Analysis: Addai started the year off pretty good, but injuries once again have crept into the picture. Fantasy owners of Addai should keep an eye on him as his status for next week is uncertain. The Colts face the Titans in Week 8, a team that allowed two running backs to rush for more than 100 yards. For now, Addai is just a low-end option until he proves he's 100 percent.
News: Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai was active for Sunday's contest against New Orleans. He's been dealing with a hamstring injury, which kept him on the sideline last week.
Analysis: Prior to leaving the Colts' outing in Week 5 with the injury, Addai had posted an average of at least 4.6 yards per carry in three of his first four games of the season to rekindle his strong play from earlier in his career. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on him to see if and how much he plays versus the Saints.
News: Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai returned to practice Friday after dealing with a nagging hamstring earlier in the week. Addai, who was sidelined for the team's Week 6 matchup against Cincinnati, was held out of practice the past two days. He is officially listed as questionable on the injury report. The Indianapolis Star reports he is likely to play in Sunday's game.
Analysis: Addai's official status for Week 7 at New Orleans is still uncertain as Indianapolis likely does not want to rush him back from a hamstring injury. Prior to leaving the Colts' outing in Week 5 with the injury, Addai had posted an average of at least 4.6 yards per carry in three of his first four games of the season to rekindle his strong play from earlier in his career. Fantasy owners should monitor his status and if he is out, Indianapolis will likely utilize a shared backfield with Delone Carter and Donald Brown.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (hamstring) did not participate in Thursday's practice. Colts coach Jim Caldwell said Wednesday that Addai, who sat out Week 6 with a hamstring injury, "is getting better." However, he has yet to practice this week.
Analysis: The Colts are going to take this day-by-day and likely to list Addai as questionable on the injury report his week. However, unless we hear more positive reports on Friday, then Fantasy owners should plan to see Delone Carter and Donald Brown pace the Colts' rushing attack in Week 7. As of now, Addai is not a recommended Fantasy option.
News: Colts coach Jim Caldwell said Wednesday that injured RB Joseph Addai, who sat out Week 6 with a hamstring injury, "is getting better." However, he was held out of practice Wednesday.
Analysis: The Colts are going to take this day-by-day and likely to list Addai as questionable on the injury report his week. However, unless we hear more positive reports as the week progresses, then Fantasy owners should plan to see Delone Carter and Donald Brown pace the Colts' rushing attack in Week 7. As of now, Addai is not a recommended Fantasy option.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (hamstring) is inactive for Week 6 at Cincinnati after not making the trip. Delone Carter gets the start at running back, but Donald Brown will also be in the mix for carries.
Analysis: Addai's injury-prone ways have continued, which is surely disappointing to Fantasy owners. He just has to hope Carter and Brown don't upstage him while he recovers from his latest setback, but we imagine Addai will still be a viable Fantasy option once healthy. You just have to keep him reserved for Week 6.
News: Three Indianapolis Colts players will not travel to Cincinnati for Sunday's Week 6 game. Running back Joseph Addai, left tackle Anthony Castonzo and defensive tackle Drake Nevis will stay in Indianapolis, the team said. Addai left last week's game in the first quarter after hurting his hamstring.
Analysis: When Addai went out last week, rookie Delone Carter got more playing time. Indy could also use Donald Brown, its first-round pick in 2009, more. Carter could certainly be a worthy backup option. Addai is out, however, so Fantasy owners should not be using him in any leagues for Week 6.
News:The Indianapolis Star reports Colts RB Joseph Addai (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Week 6 at Cincinnati after not practicing for a third straight day Friday. Addai said on Thursday that he is unlikely to play, meaning Delone Carter and Donald Brown will pace the rushing attack against the Bengals.
Analysis: This is not shocking news. The Colts might not list Addai as out, but it's expected he won't suit up Sunday. Even if he does, it might only be in an emergency. But the team did promote Darren Evans from the practice squad, so they have depth at RB. Start healthier alternatives in Fantasy.
News: The Indianapolis Star reports that Colts RB Joseph Addai (hamstring) said on Thursday that he is a "long shot" to play on Sunday in Cincinnati. However, the indication has been that his hamstring injury doesn't appear to be as serious as initially thought, according to Colts RapidReporter Tom James. Addai suffered a strained right hamstring against the Chiefs last week. There is no timetable for a possible return.
Analysis: The Colts promoted RB Darren Evans from the practice squad, which is a very strong indication that Addai won't play in Week 6. We could see a split-carry situation between Delone Carter Carter and Donald Brown, but we would recommend Carter as the better stopgap Fantasy option this week. Even if Addai plays, then he would be a risky Fantasy option, so prepare to use healthier alternatives.
News: Colts coach Jim Caldwell offered no update on Wednesday on RB Joseph Addai, who suffered a hamstring injury in Week 6. "We'll kind of see how the week goes," Caldwell said. Caldwell isn't ready to name a starter at running back either if Addai is out, but Delone Carter and Donald Brown would be the leading candidates. "We'll make that determination later in the week," Caldwell said.
Analysis: The Colts promoted RB Darren Evans from the practice squad, which is probably a very strong indication that Addai probably won't play Week 6. We could see a split-carry situation between Carter and Brown, but we would recommend Carter as the better stopgap Fantasy option this week. Even if Addai plays, then he would be a risky Fantasy option, so prepare to use healthier alternatives.
News: The Indianapolis Star reports that Joseph Addai was scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday that should reveal the damage done to his hamstring in Week 5 against Kansas City. "Sometimes you feel it tear," Addai said as he exited the locker room following the game. "This was a little grab. Really won't know till we get the scan (Monday)."
Analysis: As expected, with Curtis Painter under center, Addai was the focal point of Indianapolis' offense and recorded the team's first four touches, including one reception. Addai had recorded at least 11 carries in each of his three outings before Week 5 while beginning to show flashes of the solid run ability from earlier in his career. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his status, but hamstring injuries are always difficult for running backs to overcome. His status for Week 6 at Cincinnati remains highly in doubt. For however long Addai is sidelined, rookie Delone Carter and Donald Brown would likely share the workload at running back.
News: Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai left Week 5 against Kansas City during the first quarter with an apparent hamstring injury. Addai was making his sixth carry of the game and appeared to slow down as he cut through the Chiefs defense. He gingerly walked off the field under the assistance of trainers and did not return for the remainder of the Colts' possession. Addai, who is doubtful to return, racked up 19 rushing yards before leaving.
Analysis: As expected with Curtis Painter under center, Addai was the focal point of Indianapolis' offense and recorded the team's first four touches, including one reception. Following the injury, Addai was tended to on the sideline and had a heavy wrap on his right knee. Addai had recorded at least 11 carries in each of his three outings before Week 5 while beginning to show flashes of the solid run ability from earlier in his career. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his status, but hamstring injuries are always difficult for running backs to overcome.
News: Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai is closing in on an impressive milestone entering Week 5 against Kansas City. Addai needs two rushing touchdowns to reach 50 for his career, which would tie Jimmy Orr for ninth-most in Colts franchise history. Despite hitting a speed bump in Week 4 against Tampa Bay, Addai has fared well in the early part of the season and his 230 rushing yards is his highest total through four games since 2007.
Analysis: Addai finished with just 41 yards on 11 carries -- his lowest totals since Week 1 -- during Indianapolis' loss to the tough Buccaneers. He has just one touchdown this season, but does have a solid history against the Chiefs. In three games, Addai is averaging 81.3 rushing yards per game (244 total) with a pair of touchdowns. Kansas City is yielding an average of 24.0 Fantasy points to opposing running backs this season. Consider Addai a No. 2 Fantasy RB for Week 5.
News: After racking up a season-high 86 rushing yards and touchdown last Sunday, Colts RB Joseph Addai was not much of a factor in Week 4 against the Buccaneers. Addai was held to 41 yards rushing on 11 carries in the 24-17 defeat and was unable to find the end zone. He did have a long of 9 yards and also hauled in a 7-yard reception from Curtis Painter to finish with 48 total yards. Addai finished with a combined 12 touches in the loss and averaged 4 yards every time he touched the ball.
Analysis: Addai started off being the focal point of the Colts offense on Monday night, but the club stopped going to him in the second half. Some of the season for that was due to Delone Cater, who had seven rushing attempts himself against Tampa Bay. Many expected Addai's workload to increase with Curtis Painter making his first NFL start, but he touched the ball less than he did last week against Pittsburgh. The Colts offense has been extremely frustrating trying to peg without Peyton Manning under center and many players, including Addai, have seen there value plummet with club's QB situation in flux. Fantasy owners should continue to view Addai as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB heading into Week 5 against the Chiefs.
News: Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai displayed flashes of his old self in Week 3 when he gained a season-best 86 rushing yards and a touchdown on 17 carries during a 23-20 loss to Pittsburgh. Addai's solid average of 5.1 yards per carry against the Steelers represented just the fourth time he has exceeded the five-yard mark in the past two-plus seasons. He will look to continue his strong production in Week 4 at Tampa Bay, which is permitting 114 rushing yards per game this season.
Analysis: Addai was a 1,000-yard rusher in consecutive seasons during his first two years in the league, but injuries have limited his production recently. However, the 28-year-old has started the season strong and leads the Colts with 39 carries (Delone Carter is second with 22 rushes). Addai has fared well against NFC opponents and is averaging 110 rushing yards per game (220 total) in his last two outings. Consider him a low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB against the Buccaneers, who have limited opposing running backs to 18.6 Fantasy points per game.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai found the end zone for the first time this season in Week 3 against the Steelers. He scored from 6 yards out in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 20-20. Addai finished with 86 yards in 17 carries. He also had a 2-yard catch in the 23-20 loss.
Analysis: Addai was able to find some running room against a tough Steelers defense on Sunday and had his most productive game of the season. With the Colts quarterback situation in flux, he could be relied on more going forward so keep an eye on the situation. While Delone Carter steals carries away from him, Addai remains the main back in Indianapolis and should be considered as no worse than a No. 3 Fantasy RB for Week 4 against the Buccaneers.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai will face off against a tough rush defense in Week 3 against the Steelers. Pittsburgh enters Sunday ranked 12th in the league against the run, allowing 100.5 yards per contest, and have held opposing running backs to an average of 19 Fantasy points.
Analysis: Addai leads the Colts in rushing thus far but continues to split carries with rookie Delone Carter, which limits his production. With Indianapolis relying on the running game while Peyton Manning is out, both should see a ton of work in Week 3 but the Steelers have shown in the past that they are quite adept at stopping the run. Owners shouldn't expect a huge game from Addai on Sunday so consider him as more of a No. 4 Fantasy RB or flex option for Week 3.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai led his team in rushing in Week 2 against the Browns with 14 carries for 64 yards. However, he shared much of the load with Delone Carter for a second consecutive week. The rookie got 11 carries for 46 yards. Addai added 37 yards receiving on four catches, to give him 101 total yards.
Analysis: Addai's productivity actually improved compared to what it was in Week 1, but we've seen a pretty even workload for Addai and Carter in each of the first two weeks. The Colts have not had much of a passing game with Kerry Collins at the helm, which has created a bad situation for the running game to flourish. With no return in sight for Peyton Manning, expect Addai to continue to have to fight for this type of mediocre output. A Week 3 matchup against a tough Steelers defense does not bode well for Addai to be considered anything more than a No. 3 RB option.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai will be looking to overcome his slow start in Week 1 at the Texans when he plays the Browns in Week 2. The Browns allowed Bengals RB Cedric Benson to rush for 121 yards and a touchdown in Week 1. The Browns ranked 27th in the NFL against the run last season, allowing 129.4 yards per game.
Analysis: The Browns allowed just seven rushing touchdowns last season, but have already given up one this year. The reason Addai rushed for just 39 yards in Week 1 was because the team fell behind early and had to abandon the run. Given his 4.9 yards per carry average, a 15-20 carry afternoon against the Browns could result in a useful game for owners. We do anticipate Delone Carter getting a good amount of touches, however (he had seven carries in Week 1 to Addai's eight). View him as no more than a low-end No. 2 RB option or decent flex, but there is reason to believe he'll be able to put up much better numbers in Week 2.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai didn't get much going against the Texans in Houston in a Week 1 blowout loss on Sunday. Pretty much all his production came in the first half as Houston was winning 34-0 at halftime and eventually won 34-7 over the Colts. Indianapolis, with Kerry Collins and not Peyton Manning at the helm, couldn't do much on offense but took to the air in the second half. Addai finished with only eight carries for 39 yards. He caught two passes for 13 yards and did not score in the game.
Analysis: Addai wasn't terrible on Sunday of Week 1, he just didn't have a very good opportunity to get anything going. The passing game was non-existent and the running game followed suit against a much-improved Houston defense. We certainly see an improvement in Addai's future for Week 2 at home against the Browns. Fantasy owners who went with Addai in Week 1, should continue rolling with him in Week 2 against Cleveland. Still, without Manning, this offense certainly doesn't look anywhere near as explosive as it has been in recent seasons.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai starts without Peyton Manning as his quarterback for the first time in Week 1 in Houston. The last time Addai rushed in Houston he carried 10 times for 44 yards and also caught six passes for 29 more. He did not score, however. Addai has a solid history against the Texans. He has 632 career rushing yards against them with six scores, the most against any opponent in the NFL.
Analysis: Addai might have to help carry the offense without Manning for the Colts in Week 1, but his track record from last year against Houston isn't great. In two games, Addai rushed 25 times for 113 yards and no scores. Addai is a quality back, but he's still going to lose some touches to Donald Brown and Delone Carter. He's just a low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB for Week 1 of the season.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai wasn't sure if he'd be playing in Indianapolis this year. But he's glad to be back. First of all its great to be around people that you know," Addai said Friday. "You dont have to learn a new system. Coming back with the Colts I already had a head start as far as whats going on."
Analysis: Addai should return as a quality Fantasy RB now that he's back with the Colts. He has the ability to play every down, catch the ball and work at the goal line. He will lose some touches and production to Donald Brown and rookie Delone Carter, but Addai is worth drafting as a No. 3 Fantasy RB with upside. You can take him around Round 6, and he could end up playing like a quality No. 2 option. As long as Addai is healthy he finds a way to produce.
News: Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai told WISH-TV on Saturday that he has re-signed with the Colts. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed. Addai has been the team's primary running back since being selected in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He has battled injuries the last couple of seasons, including a neck injury last year that limited him to just eight games.
Analysis: After playing at least 12 games in his first four seasons with Indianapolis, Addai was sidelined with a devastating neck injury and posted career lows in attempts (116) and rushing yards (495). The 28-year-old could serve as the team's starting running back since he knows the playbook well and is a favorite of QB Peyton Manning -- making him an enticing option in the middle rounds of Fantasy drafts. Look for him starting in Round 6 if he's healthy and Donald Brown and Delone Carter don't swipe too many carries.
News:Joseph Addai is expected to re-sign with the Colts this offseason, speculates ESPN. Addai is slated to be a free agent but it is believed that he's too much of a difference maker, per the report, to be let go. Indianapolis' running back corps behind Addai has Donald Brown, Mike Hart and rookie Delone Carter.
Analysis: Addai should have plenty of gas left in his tank and give the Colts a good option out of the backfield. Considering the NFL labor situation and the team's inability to get anyone else ready to take over for Addai, re-signing him and sticking him in an offense he's fluent in makes a lot of sense. A lot of people will likely aim to draft Addai as a high-end No. 3 Fantasy RB, but it wouldn't be a shock if he wound up as a No. 2 option before the end of the year. He's a good value choice starting in Round 6.
News: The Indianapolis Star reports that the Colts have taken steps to retain RB Joseph Addai for 2011 by issuing a one-year tender as a restricted free agent. Addai, a 2006 first-round draft pick, has led the Colts in rushing in four of his five seasons. If the restricted tenders hold, Addai will be able to sign an offer sheet with another team once that is permitted by the NFL. The Colts would have the right to match the offer or, in Addai's case, receive a first-round draft pick as compensation.
Analysis: Addai has indicated he would like to return to the Colts, and we would be surprised if they let him go. Addai finished 2010 with 116 carries for 495 yards (4.3 yards per carry) and four touchdowns and 19 catches for 124 yards and a fumble in eight games. He missed time with a neck injury, but Addai has been consistent for Fantasy owners with at least 1,100 total yards and eight touchdowns in three of five seasons. If he returns to the Colts then he would be considered a solid No. 2 Fantasy RB, but his value could be altered if he signs with a new team. Keep an eye on what develops, but plan on drafting Addai around Round 4 or 5 if he's back with the Colts in 2011.
News: RB Joseph Addai, the Colts' top runner last season and QB Peyton Manning's best blitz blocker, also could become a free agent once there is a new CBA. "Nothing yet, but he'd like to come back to Indy," said Ben Dogra, who represents Addai. "We'll explore everything, but this is all in limbo because of the lockout, so I don't know what's going to happen."
Analysis: Addai finished 2010 with 116 carries for 495 yards (4.3 yards per carry) and four touchdowns and 19 catches for 124 yards and a fumble in eight games.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai produced his best game since Oct. 17 in Indianapolis' Wild Card loss to New York. He carried the ball 13 times for a team-high 60 yards on Saturday. The veteran running back wasn't 100 percent though, as he was still recovering from a nerve injury that caused him to miss eight games this year. He had one less carry, but 27 more yards than his running mate Dominic Rhodes in the loss. He had said he doesn't think he'll be 100 percent until next season.
Analysis: Addai returned for the final two games of the regular season, but didn't do a whole lot for the Colts offense. Indy isn't known as a run team, which hurts Addai's Fantasy value. Owners should monitor his continued recovery from his nerve injury and see if the Colts add to their running back corp in free agency or in the draft. Those would affect Addai's value on Draft Day in 2011. For now, owners should consider taking him in the middle rounds.
News:Joseph Addai, the Colts' usual starter at running back, has returned from a nerve injury that caused him to miss eight games, but he is still likely to lose carries to Dominic Rhodes and Donald Brown in the Wild Card game against the Jets. "I don't think it will be 100 percent until next year," Addai said. "I feel like I can play a full game and be productive. That injury, it took a lot to get back, but at the same time, I think each game is helping me out. I think right now I'm in a good situation. I'm feeling confident."
Analysis: Addai made it back for the final two games of the regular season, totaling 89 rushing yards and one touchdown on 23 rushing attempts. However, the Colts found success with rotating running backs in the final games, so Addai probably won't have to carry the load in the playoffs, especially if he says he is not 100 percent. Take that into account before using Addai in Fantasy playoff formats. Heading into the 2011 season, he is likely going to be drafted later than normal in Fantasy because of his injury-plagued 2010. If he has a strong playoff run and shows his usual versatile form, consider him in the middle rounds.
News: In Week 17, Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai put in a performance that nearly mirrored last week's outing. He finished the game Sunday with 44 yards on the ground on 11 carries, while he ran for 45 yards on 12 carries in Week 16. However, the difference remained in the touchdown column, Addai could not cross the plane as he did last week. He was targeted just one time in the passing game by QB Peyton Manning.
Analysis: Addai is clearly being eased back into his starting role at running back, and Dominic Rhodes has led the team in rushing in each of the two games Addai has played after missing eight weeks with a nerve issue. Expect Addai to get back into his usual role of 10-15 carries and a handful of catches next week against the Jets in the AFC Wildcard game. Heading into the 2011 season, he is lost likely going to be drafted later than normal in Fantasy drafts because of his injury-plagued 2010. If he has a strong playoff run and shows his usual versatile form, consider him in the middle rounds.
News: With his neck injury behind him, Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai will likely receive more work in Week 17 against Tennessee on Sunday. Addai, who rushed for 45 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries in Week 16 at Oakland after missing eight games with the injury, was out for the Colts' previous meeting with the Titans. "I'm still trying to get back into the groove," he said. "I was a little nervous early on [against Oakland] but I kind of calmed down [after scoring a touchdown]." Addai has totaled 451 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 105 carries while also catching a pass in six of his seven games this season.
Analysis: Addai is expected to start and get the bulk of the carries against Tennessee in a must-win situation for Indianapolis. It's possible the Colts won't run the ball much against the NFL's 21st-ranked rush defense but Addai should also be the ball-carrier inside the red zone. Addai has rushed for just one 100-yard game this season but he does have three touchdowns in his last two games against the Titans. Tennessee is allowing 19.3 Fantasy points per game to running backs this season and three opposing running backs have mustered at least 75 yards in the last five weeks. Consider Addai a high-end No. 2 Fantasy RB in Week 17.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai was pleased with how he played against Oakland in Week 16, totaling 51 yards with a touchdown. Addai had missed the previous eight games with nerve damage in his left shoulder. "I came out fine," Addai said. "I actually came out better than I started the game. That's a good thing."
Analysis: With the Colts having much to play for in Week 17, you can be sure Addai will be given a decent amount of carries against the Titans. The Colts have a deep rotation of running backs that they like to rotate in but Addai has been their main man for years and they will want him healthy for their playoff push. Heading into Week 17 against the Titans, continue to view Addai as a low-end No. 2/high-end No. 3 Fantasy RB as he is still getting his legs back.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai, who missed the last eight games with a neck injury, returned to the field in Week 16 against the Raiders and had a productive game. Although he had just 45 yards on 12 carries, he was able to find the end zone in the 31-26 win. He scored from 6 yards out for Indianapolis' first touchdown of the game. It was his first touchdown since Oct. 17. Addai finished second on the Colts in rushing behind Dominic Rhodes (98 yards) but ahead of Donald Brown (28 yards). He also had a 6-yard grab in the victory.
Analysis: Fantasy owners have been waiting for Addai to get back on the field and he finally did in Week 16. He looked a little rusty but was able to find the end zone for the fourth time this season. He wasn't expected to receive the full workload but saw a decent amount of touches and averaged 3.8 yards per carry.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai is active for Week 16 and is expected to get the start against the Raiders. It is his first time playing since he hurt a nerve in his left shoulder on Oct. 17.
Analysis: Good to see Addai healthy enough to play but we don't expect him to handle the entire workload with Donald Brown playing at a high level. Look for Addai to get about 15 touches at best, and Fantasy owners should only view him as a No. 3 Fantasy option in deeper leagues. It is a favorable matchup against the Raiders, but Addai's extended absence means he will likely have plenty of rust.
News: NFL Network reports that Colts RB Joseph Addai (neck) will be active and will get the start in Week 16 at Oakland. Addai made the trip to Oakland for the Week 16 game and is likely to play for the first time since hurting a nerve in his left shoulder on Oct. 17.
Analysis: It looks like Addai will be able to play in Week 16 against the Raiders, but we don't expect him to handle the entire workload with Donald Brown playing at a high level. Look for Addai to get about 15 touches at best, and Fantasy owners should only view him as a No. 3 Fantasy option in deeper leagues. It is a favorable matchup against the Raiders, but Addai's extended absence means he will likely have plenty of rust.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai made the trip to Oakland for the Week 16 game and is likely to play for the first time since hurting a nerve in his left shoulder on Oct. 17. Addai has missed the past eight games with a nerve injury in his left shoulder, yet he's still the team's No. 2 rusher. Coach Jim Caldwell says Addai's versatility and ability to protect QB Peyton Manning make him valuable to the team as it goes for a playoff spot. Oakland ranks 26th in the league against the run, allowing over 130 yards per contest, and have given up an average of 20 Fantasy points to opposing running backs.

News: The Colts officially listed RB Joseph Addai (neck) as questionable on their final injury report Friday for Week 16 at Oakland. Addai has missed the past eight games with a nerve injury in his left shoulder, yet he's still the team's No. 2 rusher. He was a full participant in practice all week, and he says he got through it without a setback. He said if the game was Thursday, he would play. News: Colts RB Joseph Addai says he has a "great chance" of returning to play Sunday at Oakland in Week 16. Addai has missed the past eight games with a nerve injury in his left shoulder, yet he's still the team's No. 2 rusher. He was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, and he says he got through it without a setback. He said if the game was Thursday, he would play. News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (neck) practiced in full participation on Wednesday as the team prepares fro the Week 16 game against the Raiders. He has not played in the last eight games.
Analysis: If Wednesday is any indication, Addai should be good to go on Sunday. Still, owners should monitor his status daily to make sure he avoids setbacks. If he is able to play against the weak Raiders run defense, he could be used as a flex option in Fantasy play. Keep in mind that he would not only have to compete for carries with the suddenly-hot Donald Brown, but he would likely be eased back into his starting role.
News: The Colts will start Donald Brown at running back against the Jaguars in Week 15 with Joseph Addai officially inactive for the game. Addai is dealing with a neck injury.
Analysis: Addai remains out for the Colts, who are starting Brown in his place. Addai will likely be eased back into the rotation once healthy. For now, he should be left off active rosters in Fantasy.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (neck) remained limited in practice Friday and will be listed as questionable for Week 15 against the Jaguars.
Analysis: It doesn't look optimistic that Addai will return in Week 15, but even if he does play, he will still lose carries to Donald Brown and Javarris James. Addai will likely be eased back into the rotation once healthy. If he does play Week 15, then Addai will be a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (neck) was limited in practice for a second straight day Thursday as the team prepares for Week 15 against the Jaguars.
Analysis: The Colts aren't saying how much Addai is practicing. He could still be working on conditioning drills and yet to take on contact drills. It doesn't look optimistic he will return Week 15, but even if he does play, he will still lose carries to Donald Brown and Javarris James. Addai will likely be eased back into the rotation once healthy. If he does play Week 15, then Addai will be a low-end Fantasy option.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (neck) was limited at practice Wednesday as Indianapolis began preparation for its Week 15 game vs. Jacksonville.
Analysis: Continue to monitor what happens with Addai leading up to the Week 15 game with the Jaguars. If he's able to play against the Jaguars he would be considered a low-end No. 2/high-end No. 3 Fantasy RB for this matchup, but might lose plenty of carries to Javarris James, especially in the red zone.
News: Fresh off last week's road win over AFC South rival Tennessee, the Colts are back at practice with another divisional showdown coming up. The Colts will host division-leading Jacksonville on Sunday. There is a chance that Indianapolis could get a few of its injured players back for the game. Coaches said Monday there has been no decision concerning the availability of RB Joseph Addai (neck), who has been out for the past seven games.
Analysis: Continue to monitor what happens with Addai leading up to the Week 15 game with the Jaguars. If Addai is able to play against the Jaguars he would be considered a low-end No. 2/high-end No. 3 Fantasy RB for this matchup.
News: As expected, Colts RB Joseph Addai (neck) was among the team's inactives for the Week 14 game against the Titans on Thursday. Addai has missed seven straight games due to injury.
Analysis: The Colts could really use Addai back with the way the team's running backs continue to drop like flies, but he just can't get healthy. Continue to stash Addai in most Fantasy leagues and just cross your fingers that he can help you at some point this season.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (neck) has been ruled out for Week 14 at Tennessee. He hasn't played since Week 5.
Analysis: The Colts could really use Addai back with the way the team's running backs continue to drop like flies, but he just can't get healthy. Continue to stash Addai in most Fantasy leagues and just cross your fingers that he can help you at some point this season.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (neck) was limited in practice for a second straight day on Tuesday as the team prepares for Week 14 against the Titans. Addai has not played since Week 6 and has missed the last six games, and Colts owner Jim Irsay posted on his Twitter account Tuesday that Addai will not play Thursday.
Analysis: The Colts could really use Addai back with the way the team's running backs continue to drop like flies. But since this game is on a Thursday, it seems unlikely this is when Addai will make his return. Stranger things have happened, though, but the Colts owner seems confident that Addai will sit out. Even if he is back, he wouldn't see a full workload, so don't plan on using Addai in Fantasy Week 14.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai was limited in practice on Monday as his team prepares for Week 14 against the Titans. He was inactive for his sixth straight game on Sunday as he continues to deal with nerve damage in his neck.
Analysis: Addai had his first 100-game of the season before getting hurt and is always a candidate for touchdowns as the primary rusher for the Colts. He mostly just needs to get back in playing shape to return, but since the Colts' next game -- Week 14 at Tennessee -- is on a Thursday, he may need another week off. Keep an eye on him leading up to Thursday's game and consider Addai a No. 2 RB if able to play against the Titans.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai was inactive for the sixth straight game because of nerve damage in his neck Week 13 against the Cowboys. He was able to practice some this week, but it was mostly to improve his conditioning. He was listed as doubtful for the game.
Keep him reserved in Fantasy. He's a No. 2 RB when healthy.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (neck) did not practice Friday as Indianapolis finished up preparations for its Week 13 game vs. Dallas. He is listed as doubtful for the contest.
Analysis: If Addai can play on Sunday, he couldn't ask for a more favorable time to return. The Cowboys rank 19th against the run, allowing 114.0 yards per game. Chances are he won't play, of course, but he wouldn't carry a full load either way since he's still working his way back up to game speed. You should plan on sitting him again in Fantasy.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai, who has missed the last five games with nerve damage in his neck, was a limited participant in practice for the second straight day Thursday and has a chance of playing Week 13 against the Cowboys. He's still working on his conditioning, though, so he's a bit of a long shot.

News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (neck) practiced on a limited basis Wednesday as Indianapolis began preparation for its Week 13 game vs. Dallas.
Analysis: Addai has been inactive for five straight games and it could well be six straight if all he is doing is conditioning, as was reported on Tuesday. This is clearly still a developing situation that Fantasy owners will need to monitor as the week progresses. But do have other plans for Fantasy in case Addai has to sit again. Even if healthy, he probably won't see a full workload.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (neck) progressed to practice last week for conditioning purposes. Addai will do so again this week leading up to Week 13 against the Cowboys, but a timetable for a full return to action is uncertain.

News: As expected, Colts RB Joseph Addai (neck) will not play in the Week 12 game against the Chargers. He not played since the end of the Week 6 game against the Redskins.
Analysis: Addai being listed among the inactives does not surprise us considering he couldn't get on the practice field during the week. Stash him for now with the Fantasy playoffs approaching in most formats. When healthy, he is a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but he sat out of Friday's session with an ongoing neck issue. The team is in preparations for the Week 12 game against the Chargers on Sunday night. He has been out since getting hurt in Week 6 against Washington and is doubtful to play this week.
Analysis: We don't expect Addai to be able to play Sunday night, especially after failing to practice on Friday. Check back with us around 7 p.m. on Sunday to find out if he's active or not, officially. If he is somehow active, the matchup against the Chargers is not a good one anyway, they rank third in the NFL against the run. They are holding opposing RBs to less than 4 yards per carry through their first ten games. When healthy, Addai is a solid No. 2 Fantasy RB in the majority of leagues.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai remained limited in practice Thursday with a neck injury. He has been out since getting hurt in Week 6 against Washington and will be questionable to play in Week 12 against San Diego.
Analysis: Keep an eye on Addai's status heading into the game with the Chargers. We don't expect Addai to play, but he might improve by Friday. When healthy, Addai is a solid No. 2 Fantasy RB in the majority of leagues.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (neck) will participate in only non-contact drills leading up to Week 12 against the Chargers and a timetable for a return to full action is still undetermined. He is only practicing this week for conditioning purposes.
Analysis: If Addai isn't ready for contact, then you have to think his status for Week 12 is in jeopardy. Even if he is active, the Colts probably won't give him a full workload with capable backs like Donald Brown and Javarris James healthy. Keep Addai stashed in Fantasy until further notice.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai has officially been ruled inactive for Week 11 against the Patriots. He was listed as questionable this week on the injury report, but did not travel with the team to New England on Saturday.
Analysis: Addai saw practice action just once this week, and it was on a limited basis. He clearly has a neck issue that demands concern for Fantasy owners moving forward, especially as the playoffs approach. Monitor his status in the next few days to see what his chances are to play in the Week 12 game against the Chargers. Keep him stashed in Fantasy play for now.
News: According to multiple reports, Colts RB Joseph Addai (neck) did not make the Week 11 trip with the rest of his team as the Colts are set to take on the Patriots. He was originally listed as questionable heading into the matchup. Addai has now missed four consecutive games due to injury.

News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (neck) is officially listed as questionable for Week 11 at New England. NFL Network reports Addai's chances of playing on Sunday are still "up in the air". Addai only practiced on Thursday and even then got limited reps. If he is active Week 11, then he will face a defense that is allowing RBs to average 19.3 Fantasy points per week.
Analysis: Fantasy owners better check back on Sunday at around 2:45 p.m. ET to see if Addai is active for Week 11, but they also should make sure they have a capable replacement playing in the late games or the two evening contests in case Addai is still ruled out. If he makes it back for Week 11, he wouldn't be worth trusting as anything more than a low-end No. 3 RB or flex option. The Colts might not give him full reps his first game back just to make sure he doesn't suffer a setback.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai returned to practice on Thursday on a limited basis, despite a neck issue. The team is preparing for the Week 11 game against the Patriots. Addai has missed the last three games because of the injury. Head coach Jim Caldwell told the New England media Wednesday that Addai was "trending in the right direction" and "day-to-day."
Analysis: We suspect that upon Addai's arrival back to the Colts' active roster that he'll be sharing the rushing workload. If he makes it back for Week 11 he wouldn't be worth trusting as anything more than a low-end No. 3 RB. We'll keep you posted as his status impacts other potential Fantasy options
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai did not practice on Wednesday. He has missed the last three games with a neck/shoulder injury that involves nerve damage. He has yet to be ruled out for Week 11 at the Patriots but it's expected that he'll practice by Friday if he's going to play. Head coach Jim Caldwell told the New England media Wednesday that Addai was "trending in the right direction" and "day-to-day."

News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (neck/shoulder) was listed among the inactives for Week 10 vs. Cincinnati.
Analysis: With Addai and Mike Hart both out, Donald Brown will get the start on Sunday with Javarris James spelling him. Continue to stash Addai away in all Fantasy formats, as he appears to be getting closer to a return.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (neck/shoulder) continued his absence from practice Friday and is officially listed as doubtful for Week 10 vs. Cincinnati.
Analysis: Things certainly don't look good for Addai this Sunday, and with Mike Hart also not practicing, Donald Brown will likely get the start in Week 10 against Cincy. Continue to stash Addai away in all Fantasy formats as he should regain his starting job back once he's healthy.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (neck/shoulder) missed practice again on Thursday as Indianapolis continued preparations for its Week 10 game vs. Cincinnati.
Analysis: Addai, who said Tuesday he was improving, had a nice 128-yard game against the Redskins before getting hurt, but he has been inconsistent as a Fantasy back over the last couple of seasons. Still, he's the main back for the Colts when healthy, and because that offense is one of the better ones in the league, Addai would be considered a top-25 Fantasy running back if he can somehow get healthy enough to play on Sunday, but things aren't looking good.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (neck/shoulder) was able to do some work on the side Wednesday, but was listed as not practicing. Indianapolis hosts Cincinnati in Week 10.

News: The Indianapolis Star reports that Colts RB Joseph Addai says his neck/shoulder injury is progressing each day. Every day, with that nerve, the injury is so different, he said. Every day is that much more hope. If you ask me, Joe, when you think youll be back? Ill try to be back this game.

News: Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai (neck) was not active for the Colts in Week 9 as expected. He did not make the trip with the team to Philadelphia. He also missed Week 8 against the Texans with this injury.
Analysis: Addai is still the main back in Indy, when healthy, so Fantasy owners should just keep him reserved until he returns. The team will face the Bengals in Week 10, a team that entered Week 9 allowing 120 yards on the ground per game. Continue to monitor his progress during the week.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (neck) did not make the trip as the team heads to Philadelphia, according to multiple reports. He missed the Week 8 game against the Texans with the injury, as well as every day of practice this week. Addai was officially listed as doubtful on Friday's injury report, but there was speculation that he would be held out when the Colts signed Andre Brown off the practice squad on Saturday.
Analysis: For now, Fantasy owners should keep him stashed and stay tuned to see if he'll be active for Week 10 against the Bengals. Monitor his progress throughout the next week.
News: The National Football Post is reporting that the Colts did not bring running backs Joseph Addai (neck) or Mike Hart (ankle) to Philadelphia for the Week 9 game. The Colts ruled both backs out for the game and are planning on going with Donald Brown and Andre Brown in the game.
Analysis: The Colts didn't waste any time with game-day decisions with Addai and Hart. They simply didn't take them to Philadelphia for the game. Addai rushed 17 times for 128 yards and a touchdown in Week 6 against the Redskins but came out after the bye injured and missed the Houston game. He's missing two in a row now and should be avoided in all leagues.
News: The Colts signed RB Andre Brown off the practice squad on Saturday. This could be a sign that the team might be without either Mike Hart or Joseph Addai or both on Sunday at Philadelphia. Addai was already listed as doubtful for the game with his neck injury after missing the Week 8 game against Houston.
Analysis: The news of Brown's addition to the active roster simply suggests the Colts may be without one or both of Addai and Hart. It certainly doesn't mean anything for sure, however. He could be just a backup option in case they get hurt again in the game. For now, consider Addai a major injury risk, however, as he was already listed as doubtful for the game. It seems highly unlikely that Addai will get to his career milestone of 4,000 yards in Week 9. If by some chance he can go versus Philadelphia, owners would want to start him. But for now, Fantasy owners should keep him stashed and stay tuned to see if he'll be active for Week 9. We'll be first to know whether or not he'll be active Sunday on Fantasy Football Today, 11 a.m. ET here on CBSSports.com.
News: The Colts have listed RB Joseph Addai (shoulder) as doubtful for Week 9 at Philadelphia. He missed practice for a third straight day Friday. Addai has faced the Eagles just once in his career. In that game, he rushed for 171 yards on 24 carries and scored four touchdowns. He also had two catches for 37 yards in that game. This season the Eagles are giving up 109.9 yards on the ground per game and and allowed just four touchdowns to opposing team's running backs.
Analysis: With another day of not practicing it seems highly unlikely that Addai will get to his career milestone of 4,000 yards in Week 9. If by some chance he can go versus Philadelphia, owners would love for him to repeat his performance from 2006. But for now, Fantasy owners should keep him stashed and stay tuned to see if he'll be active for Week 9. We'll be first to know whether or not he'll be active Sunday on Fantasy Football Today, 11 a.m. ET here on CBSSports.com.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai needs 69 rushing yards to get to 4,000 yards for his career. The veteran back did not practice again on Thursday for Indianapolis as he continues to deal with a neck injury. The Colts face the Eagles in Week 9, a team Addai has faced just once in his career. In that game, he rushed for 171 yards on 24 carries and scored four touchdowns. He also had two catches for 37 yards in that game. This season the Eagles are giving up 109.9 yards on the ground per game and and allowed just four touchdowns to opposing team's running backs.

But for now, Fantasy owners should keep him stashed and stay tuned to see if he'll be active for Week 9.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (neck) remained out Wednesday as Indianapolis practiced in preparation for its Week 9 game at Philadelphia.
Analysis: Addai is clearly still having problems in his neck/shoulder area and at this point looks unlikely to play in Week 9 against the Eagles. With Mike Hart also banged up, it looks like Donald Brown will get the start on Sunday afternoon, although Addai hasn't been ruled out yet. Addai is good enough to keep stashed in all Fantasy formats.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (neck) is officially listed among the team's inactives for the Week 8 Monday night game against Houston. The Colts will start Mike Hart at running back and Donald Brown, who is active, will back him up.
Analysis: Addai last suited up in Week 6 at Washington and scored a touchdown on 17 carries as he ran for a season-high 128 yards. After a bye in Week 7, Addai could not get healthy enough to play in the Monday night game. He should be reserved in all Fantasy formats and owners should hope he can come back for Week 9 at Philadelphia.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (neck) could not practice on Saturday and Indianapolis listed him as doubtful for the Week 8 Monday night game against the Texans.
Analysis: All signs are pointing to Addai sitting out this key divisional contest with the Texans, so his owners should have already started looking elsewhere at the RB spot for Week 8. If Addai could somehow get healthy enough to play in this game -- which is now extremely unlikely -- he would be a must-start Fantasy option for this very sweet matchup. The Texans have allowed 20.0 points per game to running backs, ninth-most in the NFL.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (neck) continued to sit out practice Friday. Indianapolis hosts Houston in Week 8 on Monday Night Football.
Analysis: All signs are pointing to Addai sitting out this key divisional contest with the Texans, so his owners should have already started looking elsewhere at the RB spot for Week 8. If Addai could somehow get healthy enough to play in this game, he would be a must-start Fantasy option for this very sweet matchup. The Texans have allowed 20.0 points per game to running backs, ninth-most in the NFL.
News: ESPN reports that Colts RB Joseph Addai (neck/shoulder) is almost certainly going to miss Monday night's game against the Texans. Addai didn't practice Thursday.
Analysis: If Addai could somehow get healthy enough to play in this game, he would be a must-start Fantasy option for this very sweet matchup. The Texans have allowed 20.0 points per game to running backs, ninth-most in the NFL. Things don't look promising though, so plan on being without Addai for Week 8.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai, who left Week 6 against the Redskins with a shoulder injury, did not practice Thursday. Coach Jim Caldwell considers Addai, who has nerve damage in the shoulder, day to day. He's a guy whose tolerance of pain is unusual," Caldwell said. "He's one of those guys who can turn it around at a moment's notice and he's up and ready to go. It's a day-to-day situation. If he doesn't go, obviously Mike Hart's a guy who has to step it a little bit, and Javarris James may have to carry a few duties as well.
Analysis: Addai is looking iffy for Monday night's game against the Texans, which is a shame since it's a good matchup. The Texans have allowed 20.0 points per game to running backs, ninth-most in the NFL. Even if Addai can go, he'll likely lose touches to healthier options, so you shouldn't anticipate using him as more than a No. 3 Fantasy RB.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai rested Monday as he continues to work his way back from a shoulder injury that involves nerve damage. His status is unknown for the team's showdown with the Texans in Week 8, but he told reporters last week that his shoulder was "dead and needs to wake up." Teammate Donald Brown also didn't practice Monday as he rests his hamstring, meaning that Mike Hart is in line to replace both men at running back.
Analysis: Whoever starts for the Colts at running back should have a shot at 15 touches against a Texans run defense that has struggled mightily this year. If you own Addai, get a backup plan in place in the event that he doesn't play. At this point Hart seems like the best replacement from the Colts roster to pick up in case Addai doesn't go. We'll keep you posted on Addai's status all week.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai updated the status of his left shoulder to the Indianapolis Star on Wednesday. He hurt it in the win at Washington in Week 6 but was only able to lift his left arm to shoulder level, which he says was an improvement from after the game when he couldn't lift it at all. "Nothing torn or anything, Addai said. "It's just the nerve. That's the biggest thing, that and getting the strength back. It could come back any time between now and four or five weeks. ... it's just dead and needs to wake up." The Colts remain hopeful that Addai will be able to play against Houston after the bye. "We dont place any time limits on him and well see when he comes back. Hes a pretty quick healer," coach Jim Caldwell said.
Analysis: Addai will get some much-needed rest over the next week, but owners of the talented Colts running back should find a way to make room on the roster for Donald Brown, who is available in 51 percent of CBSSports.com leagues. How many more hits to the shoulder can Addai take before getting seriously injured? If and when that happens, Brown would take over in the role he was drafted to play when the Colts took him in Round 1 last year -- assuming he's healthy. If you can't trust Brown and you own Addai, just make sure you have someone capable on the bench since he's no lock to play out the rest of the year with a bum shoulder. Bench him in Week 7 but get him active for his matchup against the banged-up Texans defense in Week 8.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (shoulder) was wearing a sling on his left arm Monday in the locker room. Coach Jim Caldwell couldn't offer an update on the running back's availability for the Houston game Nov. 1. Addai left the Week 6 game against the Redskins in the fourth quarter after suffering a shoulder injury. Before leaving, Addai had his best game of the season, scoring a touchdown as he gained 128 yards rushing on 17 attempts. He was also targeted two times. It was the first 100-yard rushing game for Addai since the 2008 season. The Colts have a bye in Week 7.
Analysis: We should know more on Addai's injury heading into Week 8 against the Texans. The bye is coming at a great time for Addai based on his status, so hopefully he can get 100 percent healthy. He is worth using as a No. 2 Fantasy RB most weeks, and he would have a solid matchup against the Texans following the bye week.A

It was the first 100-yard rushing game for Addai since the 2008 season.
Analysis: Addai was the beneficiary of QB Peyton Manning, who used audibles against the Redskins defense that was backed off to defend the pass using nickel and dime coverage on early downs. Addai gashed the 'Skins for 7.5 yards per carry. The Colts have a bye in Week 7 before hosting the Texans in Week 8. Houston has the NFL's 13th ranked run defense through six games. In Week 1, Addai rushed for 44 yards on 10 carries and caught six passes for 29 yards against them but was held out of the end zone. Consider Addai to be a solid No. 2 Fantasy RB heading into Week 8 against the Texans. Monitor his progress with the injury during the bye week.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai has left the game against the Redskins in Week 6. He took a hit at the beginning of the fourth quarter and is out with a shoulder injury. His return is questionable. Addai has rushed for more than 100 yards and a touchdown through three quarters.
Analysis: Addai was nursing a neck injury this week, so it could be re-aggravated. We will keep you posted. He is now in the locker room for further evaluation.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai will play against the Redskins in Week 6 despite a neck injury. He was listed as questionable going into the game. Addai said earlier this week that he expects to play against the Redskins, who are allowing 112.2 rush yards per game on average. Addai has faced the Redskins only once in his career and he totaled 105 yards (85 rushing, 20 receiving) and carried the ball 11 times in the 2006 meeting.
Analysis: Expect Addai to see the majority of the carries for the Colts with Mike Hart pitching in. We like Addai as a No. 2 Fantasy RB this week, particularly because if the Redskins play their safeties back and "dare" the Colts to run, Peyton Manning won't hesitate to hand off to his quality back. He's not a lock to dominate, but he should see a good amount of work and help Fantasy owners.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai practiced in full Friday after being held out on Thursday and limited on Wednesday with a neck injury. He's listed as questionable for his Week 6 game at Washington, but because he practiced on Thursday and Friday speculation is that he'll play. Teammates Donald Brown and Mike Hart are also questionable, but Hart is the only one who looks as if he has a chance to play.
Analysis: Expect Addai to see the majority of the carries for the Colts with Mike Hart (who is also questionable) pitching in. We'll have the official word on Addai's status at 7 p.m. ET the latest on Sunday evening, so check back with us then.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai didn't practice Thursday, but he doesn't expect his neck/shoulder injury to keep him out Sunday. Addai said he could probably play if the game was on Friday.
Analysis: Well, so much for coach Jim Caldwell saying that his RB situation would come down to the final hour again this weekend. Addai says he's good to go, which means he will likely get the majority of the carries ahead of Mike Hart. Consider Addai a solid No. 2 Fantasy RB for Week 6 against a Redskins team that ranks 20th against the run this season and has allowed only one opposing RB to eclipse 100 yards (Brandon Jackson).
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (shoulder, neck) practiced on a limited basis Wednesday after not taking part in Monday's walkthrough. Last week, it took us all the way up to the ninth hour, Colts head coach Jim Caldwell said about his running back situation on Wednesday. I would not expect this week would be any different. Addai has faced the Redskins only once in his career and he totaled 105 yards (85 rushing, 20 receiving) and carried the ball 11 times in the 2006 meeting.
Analysis: If Addai can't play on Sunday, he would likely be replaced by Mike Hart, as backup RB Donald Brown is also banged up. If Addai does manage to give it a go, he would be a solid No. 2 Fantasy RB against a Redskins team that ranks 20th against the run this season and has allowed only one opposing RB to eclipse 100 yards (Brandon Jackson).
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai, who injured his shoulder in Week 5 against Kansas City and left the game, said Monday he has faith in backup RB Mike Hart, who could start Week 6 against the Redskins if Addai is out. Donald Brown was also out for Week 5 with a hamstring injury. "[Mike] is a guy you want on your team," Addai said. "He's going to do whatever [he's asked to do]." Addai did not take part in Monday's walkthrough practice session. There probably won't be an update on Addai's status for the Washington game in Week 6 until Wednesday at the earliest.
Analysis: There's a good chance Addai could miss the game with the Redskins based in the shoulder injury since he wasn't able to finish the game against Kansas City. When healthy, Addai is a solid No. 2 Fantasy RB in all leagues. Hart would be a good replacement against the Redskins if Addai is out.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai left Week 5 against the Chiefs after getting shook up on a hit in the third quarter. Addai was down on the turf for a few minutes before walking off under his own power. He was diagnosed with a shoulder injury. After the game, coach Jim Caldwell said he couldn't offer up an update on Addai's status. Addai had 50 rushing yards on 17 carries and 39 receiving yards on five catches before leaving the game. He had no touchdowns. Mike Hart replaced Addai since Donald Brown was inactive with a hamstring injury.
Analysis: Addai came into Week 5 battling a knee injury, so he is glad he didn't suffer a setback in that regard. However, he can now add another injury to the list. He was standing on the sidelines with no pads after suffering the injury and had no sling on his arm, so that is a little bit of good news. Addai looked pretty sharp making cuts before getting injured and didn't seemed bothered by the heavy workload with Brown sidelined. Addai is usually no worse than a No. 2 Fantasy RB when healthy, so keep tabs on his progress leading up to Week 6 against the Redskins.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai was listed as questionable for the teams' Week 5 meeting with the Chiefs. He practiced in full all week after and is expected to see the bulk of the carries as his running mate, Donald Brown was inactive for the game.
Analysis: The Chiefs are fifth in rushing defense (75.0 ypg). They have given up just one rushing touchdown and have not allowed a RB to total more than 75 yards on the ground. Addai and the Colts don't run the as much as they throw it. The veteran hasn't had a 100 yard game yet this season, but should be considered a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 Fantasy RB this week.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (knee) practiced in full all week, but he is still listed as questionable for Week 5 vs. Kansas City. Addai is ready to get a little extra work Sunday if backups Donald Brown (hamstring) and RB Mike Hart (knee) are unable to play. "It's not a problem," Addai said. "I can go longer if they need me to." In two career games (including playoffs), Addai is averaging 97 rushing yards against the Chiefs. He also scored in each game. However, Kansas City will provide a good test for Addai. The Chiefs are fifth in rushing defense (75.0 ypg). They have given up just one rushing touchdown and have not allowed a RB to total more than 75 yards on the ground. Running backs are averaging just 3.3 yards per carry against Kansas City.
Analysis: Putting Addai as questionable is just a precaution in case he suffers a setback, but everything looks good for him to play Week 5. Addai doesn't have a 100-yard rushing game this season and has also been banged up. He is averaging just 3.9 yards per carry. If Brown is out again, the Colts will have to rely on Addai, even if he is facing a tough matchup. Consider him a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 Fantasy RB for Week 5.
News: With Donald Brown sidelined by injury in Week 4, Colts RB Joseph Addai stepped up to lead the rushing attack with two touchdowns. He looks to carry that momentum into Week 5 against the Chiefs. In two career games (including playoffs), Addai is averaging 97 rushing yards against the Chiefs.
Analysis: Addai doesn't have a 100-yard rushing game this season and has also been banged up himself. He is averaging just 3.9 yards per carry and it wouldn't surprise us if he is back on the injury report for Week 5. However, barring a setback, he should be able to play on Sunday against the Chiefs. If Brown is out again, the Colts will have to rely on Addai, even if he is facing a tough matchup. Consider him a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 Fantasy RB for Week 5.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai hadn't scored a touchdown yet this season through three weeks, but that all ended in Week 4. Addai had 16 carries for 63 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday versus Jacksonville. He also caught all three passes thrown his way for 19 yards. Addai shouldered the bulk of the carries as Donald Brown as not active for the game against the Jaguars. He was the only player on the Colts with positive yards rushing. He scored on the opening drive and almost had a third rushing score. His knee touched at the 1-yard line setting up the game-tying touchdown. Jacksonville would get the ball back and win the game on a 59-yard field goal by kicker Josh Scobee.
Analysis: The Colts made it to the Super Bowl last season with the worst rushing attack in the league -- just 80.9 yards per contest. The Colts totaled 58 yards on the ground in Week 4 against Jacksonville and have not had a 100-yard rusher since Nov. 2008. The Colts have the Chiefs coming to town in Week 5 and they allow just 75 yards per game on the ground. It's not exactly a great matchup for the five-year veteran, but he should still be viewed as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB option in Week 5.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai was active for the team's Week 4 matchup with the Jaguars. The veteran running back missed practice on Friday, but is expected to get the bulk of the carries with Donald Brown out of action.
Analysis: Addai will have to deal with a sore knee and get the job done for the Colts. Mike Hart could also get a few carries. With Indy's high-powered offense there is a good chance they just air it out against the awful the Jags secondary. The veteran running back should be viewed as a middle-to low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB option.
News: The Colts and Jaguars play one of two East Coast 4 p.m. games in Week 4, so Fantasy owners who have Joseph Addai will have to wait until at least 2:30 p.m. ET to find out whether Addai, who his questionable with a knee injury and missed practice on Friday, is active.
Analysis: With Donald Brown unlikely to play on Sunday, the Colts need Addai to shoulder much of the rushing workload. But with a sore knee, we could see Mike Hart log a few carries. While Addai has never rushed for more than 100 yards against the Jaguars, he does have three rushing touchdowns over his last three outings versus the Jags. Addai averages just 52.6 yards per game in his seven meetings with Jacksonville, but this year's defense has been struggling. The Jags are giving up 115.3 yards on the ground per game and allowed four rushing touchdowns through three weeks. Addai should be viewed as a middle- to low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB option assuming he is indeed OK for Week 4.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai was held out of Friday's practice and is listed as questionable for Week 4 at Jacksonville. His knee is what the Colts list on their injury report as the problem, but the Indianapolis Star says it's his ankle. The Star also speculates that Addai will play Sunday and just got some needed rest after practicing on Wednesday and Thursday.

We'll be first to know whether or not he'll be active this Sunday on Fantasy Football Today, 11 a.m. ET here on CBSSports.com.
News: Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai is coming off a sub-par performance in Week 3, but has a familiar foe up next in Week 4 -- the Jacksonville Jaguars. Addai took part in practice on Wednesday as he's been dealing with a knee issue, limiting him in practices at times.
Analysis: Addai has just 43 carries through the first three weeks of the season, but Indy is known as a pass-first offense. If Peyton Manning and company start off fast, Addai and Donald Brown could be in for a busy day running the ball and keeping the clock moving. If Addai only gets 50 yards and a touchdown against the Jags, he'll be worth starting. He doesn't have a touchdown yet in 2010, but scoring against a division rival and sending them lower in the rankings is always a bit more satisfying. Despite his 165 yards on the ground and 60 receiving yards this season, Addai should be viewed as a No. 2 Fantasy RB option heading into Week 4.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai had a tough time finding running lanes in Week 3 against the Broncos. He rushed for just 29 yards on 13 carries in the 27-13 win. Addai averaged just 2.2 yards a carry and had a long of 10 yards. He also had two receptions for 10 yards and was targeted four times.
Analysis: After a strong game in Week 2 against the Giants, Addai was bottled up on Sunday. He has gotten off to a very slow start this season, rushing for only 165 yards over the first three games of the season and has yet to score a touchdown. Denver came in allowing 4.8 yards rushing per attempt, so it was extremely disappointing that he couldn't muster more on the ground. He faces a Jacksonville team that has been struggling to stop anybody this year. Consider him a low-end No. 2 running back heading Week 4.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai has been ruled active for Week 3 against the Broncos. Addai had been limited in practice this week with a knee injury.
Analysis: Addai rushed for 92 yards in Week 2 against the Giants and is about to face a Denver defense that is allowing running backs to average 4.8 yards per carry in 2010. Fantasy owners should get him active. He can be considered a solid No. 2 RB heading into Week 3.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (knee) took to the practice field on Thursday for limited reps after sitting out Wednesday. Indianapolis has still made no mention of Addai's injury leading up to Week 3 against the Broncos. Addai has 136 yards rushing on 30 carries this season, but has failed to reach the end zone. The Broncos defense has not allowed an opposing running back to score against them this season, but Addai has had some success against them in the past. In three career games against Denver, Addai has averaged 98.7 yards rushing with a TD. He also has averaged 32 yards receiving against the Broncos.
Analysis: It seems as though Addai is getting some rest during the week and his status for Week 3 is not in real jeopardy, but we should know more by Friday's injury report. Addai is still the Colts' featured back despite Donald Brown getting some carries every week. Addai rushed for 92 yards in Week 2 against the Giants and is about to face a Denver defense that is allowing running backs to average 4.8 yards per carry in 2010. He can be considered a solid No. 2 RB heading into Week 3.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai missed Wednesday's practice with an undisclosed knee injury, but Indianapolis made no mention of his status being in jeopardy for Week 3 against the Broncos.
Analysis: Unless Addai's knee gets worse, we can only imagine it is wear and tear and he needed a practice off. He should play in Week 3, but if something changes, we will let you know. Addai has been losing a few carries a game to Donald Brown, but is still the featured back in Indianapolis. He has been somewhat of a disappointment over the first two weeks of the season, but it is still very early. With Peyton Manning as the quarterback, the Colts do put the ball in the air quite frequently. However, that doesn't mean Addai can't put up big numbers. The Colts will have to rely on their running game at some point this season, and Addai figures to be the beneficiary. He can be considered a solid No. 2 RB heading into Week 3 against the Broncos.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai will be looking for his first touchdown on the season, when he takes on the Broncos in Week 3. Addai has 136 yards rushing on 30 carries so far this season, but has failed to reach the end zone. The Broncos defense has held RBs to an average of just 10 points per week this season, but Addai has had some success against them in the past. In three career games against Denver, Addai has averaged 98.7 yards rushing with a TD. He also has averaged 32 yards receiving against the Broncos.

News: Colts RB Joseph Addai, who ran for only 44 yards on 10 carries as the Colts tried desperately to catch up to the Texans in Week 1, got to play a bigger role in a blowout victory Week 2 against the Giants. He ran 20 times for 92 yards and also caught two passes for 21. He still has yet to score a touchdown this season.
Analysis: Here's the bad news for Addai: Donald Brown did score a touchdown, and it came in the first quarter. Brown also had 16 carries, 10 in the first half. Clearly, Addai isn't the only option in the Colts backfield, but he is the preferred one, which means he should get his fair share of touchdowns this season. We wouldn't recommend him as a No. 1 Fantasy option, but he's a solid No. 2 at Denver in Week 3.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai, who got all 10 of the team's carries Week 1 at Houston, rushing for 44 yards, could get a few more Week 2 against the Giants as the Colts attempt to balance their offense coming off a loss. The Giants ranked 14th against the run last year, giving up 110.8 yards per game, but they gave up 21 rushing touchdowns, third-most behind the Rams and the Raiders. The Giants held the Panthers to 89 rushing yards last week, but that's partly because the Panthers had to abandon he running game when QB Matt Moore kept turning the ball over in the red zone. QB Peyton Manning shouldn't have the same problem.
Analysis: The Colts weren't able to run the ball the last time these teams met Sept. 10, 2006, a 26-21 Indianapolis home victory. Addai had 26 yards rushing, and the Colts totaled 55. Still, that performance was so long ago that you can pretty much disregard it. Addai was disappointing from a Fantasy perspective in Week 1, but the fact he got all of his team's carries and didn't lose any to Donald Brown is a good sign for the future. The Colts will rely on their running game at times this season, and Addai figures to be the beneficiary. He's worth using as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB in Week 2.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai was not called upon much on Sunday of Week 1 in a loss in Houston. The Colts needed to make up ground for much of the game and Addai managed just 10 rushes for 44 yards. He went for a long carry of 17 yards and added six receptions for 29 yards through the air. Addai did show good hands in the game as he recovered a Pierre Garcon fumble to save a turnover.
Analysis: Addai was projected for more in Week 1 and fell short of that projection because Indianapolis was playing from behind. Peyton Manning threw for a career high in completions and that should tell you they were not running much in this game. Addai should have a much bigger role Week 2 when the Colts host the Giants. He is a No. 2 Fantasy RB with upside against the Giants.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai enters his Week 1 contest in Houston with a pretty solid track record against the Texans. The Colts have gone 7-1 against the Texans with Addai on the roster and he has scored more rushing touchdowns (6) against Houston than against any other franchise in the NFL. That said, he also has played more games (8) against them than any other team. Addai also has a career-high 23 catches against Houston with three receiving touchdowns. Last season, in Houston, Addai rushed 15 times for 69 yards without a score.
Analysis: Houston was middle of the pack against the run last season, allowing 106.9 yards per game on the ground. That said, Addai has 12 career touchdowns against the Texans over eight games and that gives us reason to believe he will find the end zone at least once in Week 1. You can expect him to lose more carries to Donald Brown this season but Addai looked to be in midseason form during the preseason and should be a solid option for Fantasy owners. Consider Addai to be just outside the top 12 Fantasy RBs to use Week 1. He is a No. 2 Fantasy RB with upside against the Texans.
News:The Sports Xchange reports Colts RB Joseph Addai says that the running game remains a work in progress. "I feel like we are getting better," he said. "We had some sparks during the preseason. We showed that now we just have to carry it on in the regular season."
Analysis: Addai, who was knocked out of the team's third preseason game with what was diagnosed as a concussion but he said was more of the wind getting knocked out of him, averaged 6.0 yards per carry in the preseason. He racked up two touchdowns and 84 yards on 14 carries. He definitely looks in midseason form and ready to go for Week 1. Addai hasn't rushed for 1,000 yards since 2007 and does get dinged up at times. He is still a double-digit touchdown threat and that makes him a nice high-end No. 2 Fantasy RB heading into the season. He should be fine for Week 1.
News: Indianapolis Colts starting running back Joseph Addai did not play in Thursday's preseason game against the Bengals, as expected. He was able to practice in the week leading up to the game, however, and is expected to be ready for Week 1.
Analysis: Addai has downplayed the injury since last Thursday, when he sustained the concussion. Head injuries are tricky in the NFL, but this does not appear to be a situation that will linger into Week 1. It warrants monitoring, of course, but Addai remains a safe draft pick as early as Round 3 and owners should count on having him available for Week 1.
News: Indianapolis Colts starting running back Joseph Addai sustained a concussion midway through the third quarter of Thursday night's exhibition game with the Green Bay Packers. "It's nothing," Addai said after the game. "I was fine. I just got a little dizzy, but I was cool." Addai was hurt making a tackle of Robert Francois after Francois scooped up a fumble by Peyton Manning when the quarterback was hit stepping up in the pocket. He ran down Francois, but came down hard making the tackle at the Colts 2. He described his injury more of just getting the wind knocked out of him. "I just had to catch my breath. I was fine," Addai said. "If I needed to go back in, I could've, I was straight."
Analysis: Addai walked slowly to a cooler and sat with his head in a towel while trainers spoke with him. After a few minutes, he paced the far end of the Colts' sideline watching the action and later was talking with Adam Vinatieri and Clint Session. Expect further tests to reveal the extent of the injury. He was likely done for the day anyway as the injury occurred deep into the third quarter. Addai broke a 49-yard run on the team's first offensive possession, his longest run from scrimmage at the NFL level. He was playing deep into the game with this being the third preseason game, often referred to as the "dress rehearsal" by NFL teams. Now this injury, if it is indeed a concussion, could begin to put his status for Week 1 at Houston in doubt, as the NFL has strict guideline concerning players and head injuries. We still consider him a safe pick in Fantasy drafts as early as Round 3 in the big picture, but consider adding a player like Donald Brown as a possible handcuff.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai left Thursday's preseason game against the Packers in Green Bay after getting hurt making a touchdown-saving tackle near the goal line following a Peyton Manning fumble in the third quarter. Multiple sources announced shortly after that Addai suffered a concussion, however he described his injury more like he had the wind knocked out of him. He said the did not think he suffered a concussion. Addai carried the ball seven times for 60 yards and caught two passes for 40 yards before leaving the game.
Analysis: Addai was run over while making the tackle and seemed to take a vicious hit on the play. He was diagnosed with the concussion rather quickly following the hit, but was still seen on the sideline afterward. Expect further tests to reveal the extent of the injury. He was likely done for the day anyway as the injury occurred deep into the third quarter. Addai broke a 49-yard run on the team's first offensive possession, his longest run from scrimmage at the NFL level. News: Colts RB Joseph Addai scored on a 17-yard touchdown run in Thursday's preseason game in Toronto against the Buffalo Bills. He carried the ball just twice, losing four yards on his only other carry of the game. He also caught two passes for 23 yards. Addai has led the Colts in rushing the last four years, including 2009 where he had 828 yards and 10 touchdowns on 219 carries. He also had three receiving touchdowns and one passing last season. "I think you can see we ran the ball a little bit better," head coach Jim Caldwell said Friday, acknowledging that he'd like the Colts to run the ball better. "Joe (Addai) had a couple of nice runs, Donald (Brown) had a couple of nice runs, Devin (Moore) had a couple of nice runs. But we still have a long way to go."
Analysis: Addai looked a lot sharper against the Bills than he did in limited playing time against the 49ers in the preseason opener, but he was once again only in the game for a limited amount of plays. Expect him to be in there longer on Aug. 28 as the third preseason game is usually a 'dress rehearsal' game for most teams. It doesn't really matter how he looks in the preseason, however, as his role in Indy's offense is secure going into the season. Addai will continue to share carries with Donald Brown this season, but he still has plenty of value. He also has extra motivation since he's entering a potential contract year. We like him as a solid No. 2 Fantasy RB, and he's worth drafting as early as Round 3 or 4 in all leagues.
News: Colts coach Jim Caldwell yanked most of his starters after just two series on Sunday against the 49ers. The running game Indy wants to improve produced only 8 yards in the first 25 minutes. RB Joseph Addai finished the day with 11 yards on five rush attempts and one reception for 12 yards. Addai has led the Colts in rushing the last four years, including 2009 where he had 828 yards and 10 touchdowns on 219 carries. He also had three receiving touchdowns and one passing last season. Addai has said he continues to improve and feels like he is getting better.
Analysis: While Addai thinks he is getting better, he didn't do much on Sunday. It is the preseason, so Fantasy owners shouldn't get too worried. The fifth-year back will continue to share carries with Donald Brown, but Addai will still be the main focus on the ground game. Addai is a solid No. 2 Fantasy RB option, worth drafting in Rounds 3 or 4 in all leagues.
News: The official team website for the Colts reports that RB Joseph Addai is hoping to improve in 2010. Addai, the Colts' leading rusher the last four seasons and a starter each of the past three, rushed for 828 yards and 10 touchdowns on 219 carries and had three touchdowns receiving and one passing last year. Addai said he believes that entering his fifth season, improvement not only remains possible, but is something he continues to do. "I feel like I'm getting better," Addai said. "Practice, you think of boot camp or whatever, but it's not like that. It's a learning experience. You want to come out here and do the small things and work hard. It's not, 'Oh, we're trying to kill you,' or things like that. You get tired, but it's not trying to beat you up. It's none of those things. It's not a bad thing to be here, and I don't feel like, 'Oh, if it was up to me, I wouldn't be here."
Analysis: Addai will continue to share carries with Donald Brown this season, but Addai still has plenty of value. He also has extra motivation since he's entering a potential contract year. We like Addai as a solid No. 2 Fantasy RB, and he's worth drafting as early as Round 3 or 4 in all leagues.
News: The 2010 season could be RB Joseph Addai's last with the Colts, the Indianapolis Star wrote this week. Addai played at a high level last season and is expected to shoulder the majority of the rushing workload with Donald Brown this season, but he's a free agent following the year and the Colts often trend toward younger RBs. Addai was once one of those younger running backs -- the team turned to him and let Edgerrin James walk just five years ago.
Analysis: The catch with the Star's article is that Addai is only entering his fifth NFL season. He'll be 27 years old when the season starts and has just 1,006 career carries including the postseason. The bigger concern is the state of his knees, which might be enough to turn the Colts away from re-signing him. What better way to prove to the Colts that he can still churn for yardage than by putting up a big 2010 season? Addai has that extra motivation to play well in his contract year and as such should be viewed as a safe No. 2 Fantasy RB worth a pick in Round 4 in standard drafts (Round 3 in leagues where receptions count).
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai rushed for 80 yards on 16 carries as Indianapolis beat the Jets Sunday to advance to the Super Bowl. Addai added one catch for 13 yards. He sustained a shoulder injury in the 1st quarter but returned early in the 2nd.
Analysis: Addai managed just 23 yards on 11 carries against the Ravens in last week's playoff win but was much more effective against the Jets. He should continue to give up some carries to Donald Brown but will be a decent play in Playoff Challenge leagues for the Super Bowl, whether the Colts face the Saints or Vikings.
News: Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai (shoulder) is active and starting against the Jets in the AFC Championship game on Sunday. Addai was not listed among the Colts' inactives.
Analysis: Addai ran for just 23 yards on 11 carries in last Saturday's 20-3 win over Baltimore. He also caught three passes for 14 yards. Look for Addai to possibly have a more productive week in the AFC championship. With Peyton Manning facing some elite corners, the running game for Indy might have to crank it up a notch in order to help them reach the Super Bowl.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (shoulder) practiced in full Wednesday and is not a threat to miss the AFC Championship game against the Jets.

News: Colts RB Joseph Addai was active for the Week 17 game at Buffalo but he did not get into the game as the Colts decided to rest him for the playoffs.
Analysis: Addai finishes the regular season with 828 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns over 15 games. He added 51 receptions for 336 yards and three more touchdowns and his 13 total touchdowns ties a career high set in 2007. He is going to be the Colts' No. 1 RB in 2010-11 so think of him as a No. 1 Fantasy option heading into the playoffs and next season.
News: The Indianapolis Colts have announced their inactives for the Week 17 game at Buffalo and several of the team's starters were not included. Running back Joseph Addai and wide receivers Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon will be active for the Week 17 game at Buffalo. That said, how much they will play, as the Colts look to get healthy and rested for the playoffs, remains to be seen. They are unlikely to see full games worth of action.
Analysis: If you own any of the Colts' studs -- Peyton Manning, Addai, Wayne, Austin Collie, Dallas Clark and Garcon -- you're in a tough spot if you need them in Week 17. You cannot expect them to play a full game against the Bills, especially if they have nothing on the line. Consider other options before going with any of these guys in Week 17 since they could seriously disappoint.
News: The Colts have the No. 1 seed locked up in the AFC, and if history is any indication of what that means for their starters' playing time, don't expect to see their best players much at Buffalo in Week 17. In 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008 the Colts rested their starters quite a bit in their final regular-season game. Judging by the Colts' history, we expect Manning and Addai to see the least amount of time of anyone at Buffalo in Week 17, with Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark and Austin Collie seeing as much as one half of play. Still, nothing is promised to them and even if Wayne, Clark and Collie do see extra time on the field, it will be with Curtis Painter at quarterback, not Manning.

Check out what else we have to say about players on playoff-bound teams who might rest in Week 17.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (shoulder) was able to participate in practice in full on Wednesday and Thursday as the team prepares for its Week 17 game at Buffalo. Addai is expected to be active for the game but won't likely get too much playing time.
Analysis: The Colts will continue to make sure Addai is fresh for the playoffs, however, his curbed playing time comes at a bad time for Fantasy owners. Addai did enough to give Fantasy owners a respectable amount of points in Week 16 because he did manage to score a TD, but how much he plays in the regular-season finale remains to be seen. Addai is at best a No. 2 Fantasy RB or flex option against the Bills as his touches will likely be limited again.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai didn't see a lot of action in the second half of a Week 16 loss against the Jets as Indianapolis pulled their offensive starters in the third quarter. However, Addai managed to find the end zone on a 21-yard scamper in the first quarter before leaving the game. He finished with six carries for 40 yards and had no receptions. Addai has 10 rushing touchdowns on the season.
Analysis: The Colts are just making sure Addai is fresh for the playoffs, however, his curbed playing time comes at a bad time for Fantasy owners. Addai did enough to give Fantasy owners a respectable amount of points in Week 16, but how much he plays in the regular-season finale remains to be seen. Addai is at best a No. 2 Fantasy RB or flex option against the Bills.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (not injury related), QB Peyton Manning (glute), Adam Vinatieri (knee) and WR Reggie Wayne (foot) are all active and expected to start in Week 16 vs. N.Y. Jets. Only Vinatieri, who has missed the last nine games, was questionable on the injury report. The other three players were probable.
Analysis: There are some concerns that Manning won't play a full game against the Jets, so he can get some rest of the playoffs. However, if the game is close, Manning expects to be active for the entire game. Keep him active in Week 16. Also, keep Addai and Wayne active in all Fantasy formats. As for Vinatieri, he will get some scoring chances, but he could be a little rusty after a long layoff. He is definitely a risky Fantasy start.
News: The Colts made an interesting transaction Saturday that could signal a move to rest QB Peyton Manning and possibly some of his teammates Sunday against the Jets. The Colts signed QB Drew Willy to their active roster after he had been on their practice squad. They now have three quarterbacks with Manning and backup Curtis Painter, and the move to add Willy could signal that coach Jim Caldwell wants a backup option for Painter against the Jets if Manning comes out of the game.
Analysis: This is pure speculation since the Colts and Caldwell have given no indication about resting Manning or any of the other offensive stars in Joseph Addai, Reggie Wayne or Dallas Clark, but adding another QB for Week 16 could be a telling sign. The Colts have nothing to play for other than a perfect season since they are 14-0 and have locked up the No. 1 seed in the AFC heading into the playoffs. That said, the motivation for a perfect season could keep all the Colts playing a full game. Use caution when setting your lineup with the Colts, but don't be surprised if Manning, Addai, Wayne and Clark come out early to make sure they are all healthy heading into the playoffs.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai is listed as probable on the injury report for Sunday's game against the Jets, but he is expected to play. His injury is listed as personal, which means he's not hurt.
Analysis: Look for Addai to start against the Jets as expected, but it's hard to know how much he will play with the Colts possibly starting to rest their stars for the playoffs. Still, Addai remains a quality Fantasy option, and it's hard to bench him unless you have better options on your roster. Consider Addai a No. 2 Fantasy RB against the Jets and hope he can play a full game. Also keep in mind that rookie RB Donald Brown is expected to return for this game, which will cut into Addai's carries.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai missed practice Thursday due to personal reasons, according to the official team web site. He has been dealing with a knee injury, but he practiced in full Monday. He is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Jets.
Analysis: Addai is expected to play against the Jets, but keep an eye on his status prior to setting your lineup Sunday. There's a chance the Colts could start to rest players with the playoffs looming, and Addai might not play a full game. Still, when healthy and active, Addai is a solid Fantasy option in all leagues. As long as he's expected to play Sunday -- and hopefully play a full game -- consider him a No. 2 Fantasy RB.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai practiced in full Monday with a knee injury that's been bugging him. All signs point to him playing in Week 16 vs. the Jets, but the same can be said for his primary running mate, rookie Donald Brown. Brown practiced Monday and coach Jim Caldwell said he is trending toward playing Sunday. He has missed the last three games with a chest injury.
Analysis: We think Addai has a chance to score on Sunday against a good Jets run defense but he will struggle to post big yardage, especially if he loses a handful of carries to Brown. Consider Addai a very serviceable No. 2 Fantasy RB for Week 16.
News: Amid speculation the Colts might rest their starters Week 15 at Jacksonville, RB Joseph Addai handled more or less a full load out of the backfield. Playing with a sore knee, he ran 16 times for 59 yards and caught three passes for 14. He went without a touchdown, though, for the third time in four games.
Analysis: Addai didn't play his best, but at least now when the Colts say they plan to use all their starters as usual, you know they mean it. Addai hasn't rushed for more than 79 yards in a game this season, but he plays a big role in the passing attack and scores enough touchdowns to serve as a No. 2 Fantasy RB. He'll be more like a low-end No. 2, though, with a tough matchup against the Jets in Week 16.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai, who has dealt with a knee injury off and on this season, is active for Week 15 at Jacksonville. The team listed him as probable going into the game.
Analysis: Coach Jim Caldwell has said the Colts will play ball even though they've already clinched the No. 1 seed in the AFC, but they could still go easy on Addai and allow him to rest his knee. If they allow him to carry the load against a porous Jacksonville defense, though, he could have a 100-yard game, especially since he's such a big factor in the passing attack. Because of the inherent risk of starting any Colt this week, think of him as a No. 2 Fantasy RB.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai rushed for 42 yards on 17 carries with a touchdown and caught five passes for 35 more yards Week 1 against the Jaguars. The Colts must play at Jacksonville in Week 15 on Thursday night and Addai would love to get into the end zone again. The Jaguars are solid against the run but terrible against the pass and Addai is coming off a Week 14 game against Denver in which he totaled 116 yards overall. He's been on the practice injury report for the week but practiced in full on Tuesday and Wednesday and is probable for the game.
Analysis: Addai has been solid in the passing game and could see big chunks of yardage that way against a porous secondary in Week 15 on Thursday night. He's likely to be held under 100 rushing yards but with four touchdowns in his last five games, a score is always a possibility. He's not a must-start Fantasy option but Addai can definitely be considered a low-end No. 1 or high-end No. 2 Fantasy RB for Week 15.

News: Fantasy owners nervous about how much playing time Colts starters like Joseph Addai will have in Week 15 at Jacksonville can rest easy. According to Indianapolis head coach Jim Caldwell, the team will prepare for their upcoming game just like they did their previous 13 games, and no playing time will be assigned to any one player. "The only thing that will deter anyone from playing time is health issue, whether or not obviously they're capable of playing," Caldwell said. "But other than that we're going to play ball and approach it the same way we do every week." The Colts clinched home-field advantage through the playoffs after winning vs. the Broncos in Week 14, extending their record to 13-0.
Analysis: Addai rushed 16 times for 67 yards in Week 14 against Denver with five catches for a team-high 49 yards. Addai has scored three times in his last two games against the Jaguars including one earlier this season as part of an 87-total-yard effort. While he might not play a full game, he is expected to see enough work to turn in a solid performance. He's worth starting in all leagues against the Jags.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai rushed 16 times for 67 yards in Week 14 against Denver. He also caught five passes for a team-high 49 yards. He was targeted eight times.
Analysis: Addai dodged a serious injury when he had his ankle rolled up on in an ugly twisted play when he was tackled from behind. He shook it off and was able to play on however. The Colts clinched home field advantage throughout the playoffs with the win over the Broncos Sunday, which should put Fantasy owners on alert with their Colts players as they could begin to reserve their players for their playoff run. They do, however, still have an undefeated record they'd like to protect, so we'll likely see the starters play a good amount until that streak ends, if at all. The Colts will travel to Jacksonville in Week 15.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai scored two touchdowns on Sunday in a Week 13 win over the Titans. Addai carried the ball a total of 21 times in the contest, gaining 79 yards on the ground. He also caught three passes for 17 yards. His first touchdown came from 8 yards out in the first quarter and the second was from just 1 yard out in the second quarter.
Analysis: Addai has now scored 12 total touchdowns this season, with nine coming on the ground and three through the air. He still hasnt gained 100 yards on the ground, but his TD production more than makes up for it. Addais Fantasy value was a bit higher Week 13 because Donald Brown misses the game with an injury. Against an average Denver run defense in Week 14, think of Addai as a solid No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (knee) will be active for the team's Week 13 game against the Titans.
Analysis: Addai won't have to worry about losing carries to Donald Brown against the Titans, which gives Addai's Fantasy value a bit of a boost. He's no Fantasy stud, but he's consistent enough to use as a No. 2 RB in Week 13.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (knee) practiced in full for a third straight day Friday as Indy prepares for Tennessee in Week 13.
Analysis: Addai won't have to worry about losing carries to Donald Brown on Sunday, which gives Addai's Fantasy value a bit of a boost. He's no Fantasy stud, but he's consistent enough to use as a No. 2 RB in Week 13.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (knee) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday as the team prepares for Week 13 against the Titans. He played through the injury last week and had 15 carries for 69 yards and caught three passes for 13 yards.
Analysis: Addai usually posts those kinds of numbers, though he often has a touchdown to go along with them. He's no Fantasy stud, but he's consistent enough to use as a No. 2 RB. He should be fine to play this week.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (knee) was able to practice in full on Wednesday as the team prepares for its Week 13 game against the Colts. Addai had 15 carries for 69 yards and caught three passes for 13 yards Week 13 at Houston.
Analysis: Look for Addai to bounce back in Week 13 against Tennessee after disappointing performance in Week 12. Addai had 14 carries for 27 yards and a touchdown and caught 10 passes for 53 yards against the Titans earlier this year.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai had 15 carries for 69 yards and caught three passes for 13 yards Sunday at Houston. This was the first time Addai failed to score a touchdown in his past nine games.
Analysis: Addai continues to have an amazing season, and he produces each week. But this was the first time since Week 2 that he failed to reach double digits in Fantasy points. Look for Addai to bounce back in Week 13 against Tennessee. Addai had 14 carries for 27 yards and a touchdown and caught 10 passes for 53 yards against the Titans earlier this year.
News: The Colts released their Week 12 inactives for their game against Houston: As expected, QB Peyton Manning, RB Joseph Addai and WRs Pierre Garcon and Reggie Wayne were all activated despite being listed as probable on the injury report.
Analysis: There was never any real doubt they would play, but this is official confirmation of that. Get them and keep them active in all leagues for Week 12.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai practiced in full all week and is listed as probable for Week 12 at Houston. He should start and log significant carries against a Texans team he's found a way to score against in each of his last five against them.
Analysis: Addai had 112 total yards and two total touchdowns against the Texans in their meeting just three weeks ago. He should come close to those yardage totals though teammate Donald Brown is also expected to play. Nonetheless, Addai is a solid, safe No. 1 Fantasy RB worth a start in all leagues on Sunday.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (knee) was able to practice in full on Wednesday and Thursday as the team prepares for its Week 12 game at Houston. Addai is considered probable for the contest.
Analysis: Addai still hasn't reached the 100-yard mark this season on the ground, but he continues to have an amazing season. He has reached double digits in Fantasy points in every game but one (Week 2 at Miami), and he has a touchdown rushing, receiving or passing in his past eight games. Addai had 112 total yards and two touchdowns against the Texans in Week 9, and he has eight touchdowns in his past five games against Houston. Donald Brown has become a non-factor, so keep Addai active in all leagues.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai ran 19 times for a season-high 74 yards and a touchdown and caught one 7-yard pass in a Week 11 win over the Ravens.
Analysis: Addai still hasn't reached the 100-yard mark this season on the ground, but he has only failed to reach the end zone three times in 10 games. In Week 12, the Colts will play at Houston, and Addai will remain a solid starting No. 2 Fantasy RB in all formats. Earlier this season against the Texans, Addai had 63 rush yards on 14 carries with a score and 49 yards receiving on five grabs with another score.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai scored on a screen pass from 15 yards out vs. the Patriots in Week 10 but hurt his fingers on the play and missed a chunk of playing time. It appeared that a Patriots defender went for the ball with his helmet and smacked Addai on the hand holding the ball. He returned in the second half after getting his right middle and index fingers taped together and scored again, this time on the ground from 4 yards out late in the game. Considering his limited playing time, Addai did amazing: Two total touchdowns, 41 rush yards on 10 carries and 27 yards on two catches.
Analysis: Injuries might have forced Addai back on the field as Donald Brown was missing in action after being out for a couple of games with a shoulder injury and backup Chad Simpson hurt his head, costing him playing time after doing fairly well. We'll keep track on how hurt Addai's fingers are, but he can obviously play through whatever pain he is in. He has a tough matchup in Week 11 at Baltimore but he's a good starting option because he's a threat to score regardless of the opponent.
News: Look for the Colts to start RB Joseph Addai on Sunday against New England, but rookie Donald Brown (shoulder) seems likely to return after missing the last three games. He practiced Wednesday and Thursday, and coach Jim Caldwell said Friday morning he is outlook is better than last week, when he missed Friday practice and was held out of Sunday's game against Houston.
Analysis: Addai should still be considered a No. 2 Fantasy RB against the Patriots. Addai scored two touchdowns against Houston last week with Brown out, and he should still get the majority of touches in this kep AFC battle. Keep Addai active in all leagues and hope that Brown doesn't take away too many touches.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai had 63 rush yards on 14 carries with a score and 49 yards receiving on five grabs with another score vs. the Texans in Week 10. Addai now has seven total touchdowns on the season.
Analysis: Addai was helped along to these totals by not sharing the ball with rookie Donald Brown, who was inactive. He'll find the going tougher in Week 10 vs. the Patriots, a team he totaled 42 yards and no scores against last season. Figure him to perform like a No. 2 Fantasy RB at best, and that goes double if Brown returns to take some touches away from him.
News: The Colts host the Texans in Week 9, and Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai should be looking forward to this matchup. He posted 105 rush yards in last meeting vs. Houston and is aiming for a fifth consecutive game with a rush touchdown against Indy's division rivals. The Texans rank 20th vs. the run this season.
Analysis: Addai hasn't put up spectacular stats this season, but he's managed to find the end zone enough to keep his Fantasy owners relatively happy. Unfortunately for those owners, RB Donald Brown (shoulder) is back healthy again for Week 9, but Addai should do enough damage to be worth using as a low-end No. 1 Fantasy RB.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai had an all-around game Sunday against the 49ers. Addai was 1 of 1 passing for a 22-yard touchdown to Reggie Wayne, he had 20 carries for 62 yards and caught two passes for 4 yards. Addai took advantage of the extra touches with rookie RB Donald Brown (shoulder) inactive for this game.
Analysis: Addai continues to have a rebound year and is worth starting in all leagues in Week 9 against Houston. As long as Brown remains out, Addai will continue to post solid stats. Consider him a starting option against the Texans.
News: Colts RB Donald Brown is likely out with a shoulder injury for the team's Week 8 game vs. the 49ers. With that being the case, expect starter Joseph Addai to get "as many [snaps] as he wants," according to Colts coach Jim Caldwell. Caldwell added that the team will relieve him with Chad Simpson and possibly Mike Hart but added he "would anticipate that (Addai's) load may be heavier."
Analysis: This is great news for Joseph Addai, who registers as a No. 1 Fantasy RB now, but sad news for Brown since he won't be able to pitch in against the 49ers. Obviously, Brown should be benched in all leagues while Addai should start in all leagues. He should be able to at least match his totals from Week 7.
News: With rookie RB Donald Brown possibly out or limited this week with a shoulder strain, Colts head coach Jim Caldwell said Wednesday that starter Joseph Addai likely will get an increased workload this week vs. the 49ers. Addai has rushed 82 times for 274 yards and four touchdowns this season and will take on a San Francisco run defense that has allowed five total scores to running backs over the last two weeks.
Analysis: Addai saw 20 carries last week and could see that many again in Week 8, which would be huge for him and his Fantasy owners. Expect to have Addai active if you own him for his matchup against the Niners.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai ran 20 times for 64 yards and a touchdown and caught a three-yard pass in a Week 7 rout of the Rams.
Analysis: Addai was our Start of the Week for Week 7 and probably did just about enough from the RB spot to deserve his status. However, Addai's numbers were pretty disappointing when you consider he didn't have to share carries much with Donald Brown, who left the game with a shoulder injury in the first half. The Colts face the 49ers in Week 8 and Addai will probably be a recommended option once again for that game.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai, coming off a bye, will take on the St. Louis Rams in Week 7. Addai has scored a touchdown in three of five games this season but has just one game with over 50 yards rushing. He has chipped in nicely in the receiving game on occasion though, and will face a Rams defense that ranks 26th against the run and allowed three rushing touchdowns and 178 total yards to Maurice Jones-Drew in Week 6.
Analysis: Addai is the Start of the Week on CBSSports.com, and for good reason. The Colts will be nicely rested after a week off, while the Rams had to play overtime in a Week 6 loss to the Jaguars. We are projecting Addai for 119 total yards and a touchdown on Sunday, so get him active in all formats.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai, who was battling a hand injury heading into Sunday's game at Tennessee, played as expected and did a good job. He only had 14 carries for 27 yards, but he caught 10 passes for 53 yards. He also ran for a 1-yard touchdown.
Analysis: Addai led the team in catches and continues to make plays out of the backfield as a receiver. Addai also is starting to look like a better Fantasy option than rookie Donald Brown, who had only six carries for 22 yards and caught two passes for 13 yards. Both will continue to share carries, but Addai is starting to look like a No. 2 Fantasy RB again. Indianapolis is off in Week 6 with a bye, but they return in Week 7 at St. Louis, which should be a great matchup for Addai.
News: Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai is expected to play in the team's Week 5 game at Tennessee despite hurting his hand in practice on Wednesday. He is officially listed as questionable for the game.
Analysis: Addai's Fantasy value looked to have taken a hit Week 3 when Donald Brown got more carries than he did, but Addai bounced back nicely Week 4 against the Seahawks with 12 carries for 46 yards and a touchdown. In Week 5, the Colts visit the Titans, who have a pretty good run defense and held Maurice Jones-Drew to 14 yards in Week 4. Consider him just a No. 2 Fantasy RB for that matchup as long as his hand injury doesn't keep him out.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai popped up on the injury report on Thursday with a hand injury and was limited in practice. He is considered questionable for the team's Week 5 contest at Tennessee.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai ran 12 times for 46 yards and a touchdown and caught seven passes for 50 yards in a Week 4 win over the Seahawks.
Analysis: Addai's Fantasy value looked to have taken a hit last week when Donald Brown got more carries than he did, but Addai bounced back nicely against the poor Seahawks. In Week 5, the Colts visit the Titans, who have a pretty good run defense and held Maurice Jones-Drew to 14 yards in Week 4. Consider him just a No. 2 Fantasy RB for that matchup.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai will take on the Seahawks at home in Week 4. Seattle ranks 25th against the run this season and has allowed 5.6 yards a carry.
Analysis: Addai did reasonably well in Week 3 against the Cardinals, but his Fantasy owners have to be worried about one number -- 14. That's how many carries rookie RB Donald Brown got last week, one more than Addai. Still, Addai is worth using as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB in Week 4 against a pretty weak Seahawks front seven.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai played well Sunday night at Arizona despite rookie Donald Brown cutting into his production. Addai had 13 carries for 63 yards and three catches for 8 yards and a touchdown. Brown, meanwhile, had 14 carries for 40 yards and one catch for 72 yards.
Analysis: It's a good thing Addai had more total touches than Brown, 16 to 15, which is what Fantasy owners with Addai needed to see. Going into Week 4 against Seattle, Addai should be considered a good Fantasy option since the Seahawks struggle to defend the run, and Addai is far from being phased out.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai has started the first two games of the season, but it has been rookie first-round draft selection Donald Brown who has been in at the end of each. "Obviously those two situations it was heading right down to the wire," coach Jim Caldwell said. "It certainly signifies that we have confidence in him." Brown's first career touchdown on Monday was a 15-yard, tackle-breaking run that exemplified one of the 2009 first-round draft selection's strengths. "He is a very, very strong individual that has good forward lean and balance and has some explosiveness," Caldwell said. Addai was not at practice on Friday due to a non-injury related issue but is expected to play Week 3 at Arizona.
Analysis: Addai played well in Week 1 against Jacksonville with 17 carries for 42 yards and a touchdown, but he was limited to six carries for 32 yards in Week 2 at Miami. Brown will likely continue to be a factor, but both have a tough matchup for Week 3 at Arizona. Consider Addai and Brown as No. 3 Fantasy options at the Cardinals.
News: The Colts were playing from behind for much of Week 2's win over the Dolphins in Miami on Monday night and that limited RB Joseph Addai's production. Addai only ran the ball six times in the game for 32 yards. He caught one pass for 7 yards. With the Colts in the red zone in the 4th quarter, the team gave the ball to rookie Donald Brown who ran 15 yards for the lone rushing TD of the game.
Analysis: Addai saw six carries in Week 2's win and Brown had four. It was pretty even but Brown probably looked like the better back in the game. After two games, Addai has just 74 yards on the ground and one touchdown on 23 attempts. That production won't get it done for a guy expected to be a No. 2 Fantasy RB. Continue to monitor the situation regarding shared carries with Brown for the rest of the season. Indianapolis plays at Arizona Week 3 in what should prove another pass-happy affair. Addai should be considered a low-end No. 2 RB for that game.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai believes Indy is progressing in the ground game. He carried 17 times for 42 yards, including a 3-yard TD run that gave Indy a 7-3 first-half lead last week against Jacksonville. In 2008, Addai ran 155 times for 544 yards and five TDs, averaging a career-low 3.5 yards per carry while fighting through a series of nagging injuries. He had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee during the offseason and appeared to be running with more authority Sunday than he did last year. The primary difference in Addai's opinion is confidence. "I think we're taking it up a notch though the numbers this week didn't really show it," he said. "The good thing about football is that you can always start over. It is the first game."
Analysis: Even though Addai is sharing carries with rookie Donald Brown, Addai has the chance to get the bulk of the work each week. He's worth using as a No. 2 Fantasy RB in Week 2 at Miami.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai ran 17 times for 42 yards and a touchdown and caught five passes for 35 yards in a Week 1 win over the Jaguars. He also lost a fumble.
Analysis: After a disappointing 2008 campaign, Addai looked a little more like himself on Sunday, although he did lose a bunch of carries to rookie Donald Brown, which has to be a little worrying for his owners. In Week 2, the Colts visit the Dolphins, who held Michael Turner in check during a Week 1 loss. Addai will likely be a low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB with that relatively tough matchup.
News: Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai played pretty well the last time he took the field at home against the Jaguars, his Week 1 opponent. Addai has only averaged 4.0 yards per carry in his last five games against the Jaguars but took the ball 16 times for 78 yards and two touchdowns -- and added one catch for 10 yards -- last season against them at home.
Analysis: Addai doesn't have a dominant history against Jacksonville and hasn't gone over 100 yards rushing in any of his last five contests, averaging 53.4 yards per game. He's been better recently, however, as he's become the Colts' No. 1 RB. Addai was saddled with a knee injury in 2008 and got outplayed by his backup, Dominic Rhodes. The Colts drafted Donald Brown in Round 1 of the NFL Draft this season, but Addai remains the starter and has played well this preseason. We still value Addai as a No. 2 Fantasy RB and he is well worth using in most Fantasy leagues in Week 1.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai has rushed for 46 yards on 11 carries this preseason. He rushed for 544 yards last season after back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2006 and 2007. "You see flashes of Joe like he was before he was banged up," coach Jim Caldwell said Monday. "We are anticipating him having a banner year."
Analysis: Addai was saddled with a knee injury in 2008 and got outplayed by his backup, Dominic Rhodes. The Colts drafted Donald Brown in Round 1 of the NFL Draft this season, but Addai remains the starter and has played well this preseason. We still value Addai as a No. 2 Fantasy RB, and he's worth drafting as early as Round 4 in all leagues.
News: In the Colts' third preseason game at the Lions, RB Joseph Addai had some smooth runs but managed just 22 yards on seven carries, adding a 21-yard catch. Addai saw the strong majority of playing time with the first-team offense, only giving way to Donald Brown late in a drive in the third quarter. Brown only had 16 yards on five carries but scored on a short run.
Analysis: Addai is starting to look like he'll see more than half of the rushing workload for the Colts, and judging by how he's looked when he gets a little space, he's probably the better runner for it. He's still a No. 2 Fantasy RB, and owners will still need to draft Brown as an insurance policy for Addai, but he's not as risky of an option as others in the same category (Thomas Jones, Willie Parker). Consider Addai between Rounds 5 and 7 and Brown shortly thereafter.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai started Thursday's preseason game against the Eagles and played just one series. He had two carries for 11 yards and one catch for 15 yards.
Analysis: With Addai having failed to play a full season since his rookie campaign in 2006, the Colts realize they need to take it easy on the fourth-year pro in the preseason in hopes it will help him make it through the 2009 season. They added Donald Brown in the draft as insurance, but Indy wants Addai to be their star back. We still view Addai as a No. 2 Fantasy RB worth a mid-round pick.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai is practicing on a once-a-day basis after undergoing offseason arthroscopic knee surgery. "Knowing him, and knowing obviously how he feels about his performance week in and week out, I would think he's going to be geared up to have a great year," Colts coach Jim Caldwell said Tuesday.
Analysis: Addai is expected to share playing time with rookie Donald Brown this year, but this is a good sign that Caldwell is praising Addai. Hopefully his knee will be OK, and he can return at 100 percent soon. We still view Addai as a No. 2 Fantasy RB worth a mid-round pick.
News: The Indianapolis Star reports the Colts drafted RB Donald Brown because the team was unhappy with Joseph Addai last season. The report says Addai has "been nicked up the past couple of years, which has limited his availability and productivity." But the story also says if Addai has a bounce back season, that could make things difficult since Addai is a free agent following the 2010 season.
Analysis: We like Brown as one of the top rookies this season, but Addai will remain a factor as well. Plan on drafting Addai as a No. 2 Fantasy option, and Brown should be considered a strong No. 3 RB. Remember, Addai had knee surgery this offseason and will have to prove he's 100 percent in training camp. If he's slow, that could open the door for Brown to earn more playing time and possibly start.
News: According to the team web site, Colts coach Jim Caldwell said RB Joseph Addai could take some time in his recovery from offseason knee surgery. "I think you'll see him come along and develop," Caldwell said. "He's going through a process right now of getting things back to where he feels good and comfortable. He had a few things (cleaned) up here and there, but overall, you're going to see: Joe's going to have a fine year."
Analysis: This is good news for Addai, who is going to have to hold off rookie Donald Brown, who is reportedly having a good OTA session. We still think Addai is worth drafting as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy option, but he has to prove during training camp he's 100 percent. He'll lose carries to Brown during the season, but Addai still has value if he's OK with his knee.
News: The Indianapolis Star reports since Colts RB Joseph Addai was held out of the OTAs and the mandatory minicamp as he completed his rehabilitation from arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, that meant more work for first-round draft pick Donald Brown. The paper says "Brown was difficult to ignore." The report also added Brown "showed he's still a work in progress as a receiver, but he displayed shiftiness and possesses great acceleration through the line of scrimmage."
Analysis: It sounds like Brown has the chance to get some increased carries, especially with Addai coming off the surgery. We like Brown a lot this season as a sleeper in seasonal leagues, and he should be drafted with a mid-round pick. He's a definite handcuff option for Addai, and it wouldn't be a surprise if the two split carries. In rookie-only drafts, Brown is worth a first-round pick, and he's a great option in keeper formats as well. We still consider Addai a low-end No. 2/top-end No. 3 Fantasy RB worth a pick between Round 5 or 6, but he has to be healthy once training camp starts to put us at ease that he will be OK.
News: The Indianapolis Star reports that Colts RB Joseph Addai said he underwent an arthroscopic knee procedure earlier this offseason, cleaning out one of his knees. He's expected to be ready for the start of training camp as the surgery apparently didn't happen recently. "He's working through a bit of a rehab situation, but he's in fine physical condition," head coach Jim Caldwell said of Addai. "He's been lifting, doing all the things that have been required of him."
Analysis: Now we have an even better understanding of why the Colts drafted Donald Brown with their first-round pick. It is expected that Addai and Brown will split reps this season with Addai getting the majority to start the year. A lot of how their carries will be split will be determined by their play and their health throughout the year. It makes a lot of sense to draft both Colts RBs to safeguard the spot on your roster and clinch a big piece of this potent offense. We consider Addai a low-end No. 2/top-end No. 3 Fantasy RB worth a pick between Round 5 or 6 and Brown a top-end reserve with upside worth a look between Rounds 7 and 8. Obviously Brown has the better long-term potential as he's healthier and younger.
News: The Indianapolis Colts selected RB Donald Brown of Connecticut in the first round of the NFL draft. Brown was the 27th overall pick on Saturday. He started 23 of 37 games at Connecticut, rushing for 3,800 yards and 33 touchdowns. The move gives three-time league MVP Peyton Manning more help on offense and helps fill a need after the Colts' rushing game struggled last season. Starter Joseph Addai was nicked up much of the season, and the Colts lost the other part of their two-man tandem, Dominic Rhodes, in free agency.
Analysis: After the year Addai had last year -- he missed four games due to injury and finished with 544 rushing yards and five touchdowns and 25 catches for 206 yards and two touchdowns -- the Colts needed to do something, especially with Rhodes now in Buffalo. Brown will likely be the No. 2 option, but he will definitely take carries away from Addai. It's not clear that Addai should be viewed as a No. 2 Fantasy RB worth a pick beginning in Round 4 in all leagues. His days of being an elite Fantasy option appear to be over, at least that's how the Colts see it.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai had 16 rushing attempts in the Colts' Wild Card playoff loss to the Chargers, going for 44 yards and a touchdown. Addai hadn't found the end zone in the final six games of the regular season. He also had four catches for 28 yards in the game.
Analysis: This was not the season that Fantasy owners were hoping for from Addai in his third season in the NFL. Looking ahead to drafts for next season, look for Addai to be a No. 2 RB that could be taken in the first round of some Fantasy leagues. He is not a top-5 draft pick as he was for 2008 drafts.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai got three touches in Week 17 against Tennessee, leaving the game early as Indianapolis tried to keep their regulars fresh for the playoffs. Addai had just one rush for four yards in Week 17 against Tennessee, but caught two passes which included a 55-yard touchdown in the first quarter.
Analysis: Fantasy owners knew coming in that the Colts were going to be taking their regulars out of their game early in order to stay fresh for the playoffs, but anyone who took a chance on him was at least rewarded with the long touchdown. Addai finished the season with just 561 rushing yards in what was somewhat of a lost third season for him. The Colts will travel to face the AFC West winner in the first week of the playoffs and Addai should be viewed as a No. 2 running back for Fantasy purposes.
News: Coach Tony Dungy has ruled running back Dominic Rhodes out of Sunday's regular-season finale vs. Tennessee. He likely would have played if it were a playoff game, but Dungy wants them to rest. "Dom's down a little bit, so he's definitely out of this game," Dungy said. Signs point to Joseph Addai playing (Dungy said that he's ready), but he'll be limited. Chad Simpson and Najeh Davenport will split whatever carries Addai doesn't pick up.
Analysis: It's looking like a bad week to start any Colts running backs. You might consider adding Simpson on a whim, but he's not startable, nor is Davenport or Rhodes. Addai would be no better than a No. 4 Fantasy RB since he might get about 10 touches against a good Titans defense.
News: Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai was active for Week 16's win over the Jaguars on Thursday night but he did not see any carries in the game. Addai was rested on the sidelines with Dominic Rhodes playing as the Colts clinched the playoffs. He has now virtually missed the last two games.
Analysis: Coach Tony Dungy said that he could now rest his starters in Week 17 against Tennessee. A healthy and active Addai could be a No. 2 Fantasy RB in Week 17 but if Dungy rests him again than he'll have no value. Continue to monitor this situation leading up to Sunday's game.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai is active for Week 16 on Thursday night at Jacksonville. Addai is not starting the game, however, as Dominic Rhodes will get the start. Addai has been suffering from a shoulder injury that kept him out of Week 15's game.
Analysis: We actually think Addai will only see limited reps as Dominic Rhodes has filled in admirably and actually has outproduced Addai over the course of the season. We like Rhodes better than Addai. Addai should be treated as a No. 3 Fantasy RB while Rhodes fills in as a low-end No. 2 option.
News: The availability of running back Joseph Addai for Thursday night's game at Jacksonville will likely be a game-time decision, according to head coach Tony Dungy. Addai has been nursing a sore shoulder, which he injured Dec. 7 against Cincinnati, and did not play Sunday against Detroit. "I'd say he's questionable at this point. We'll have to see," Dungy said. "We probably won't know until game time. It's going to be one of those things we'll probably have to wait and see."
Analysis: We actually think that if Addai plays, he'll only see limited reps as Dominic Rhodes has filled in admirably and actually has outproduced Rhodes over the course of the season. We like Rhodes better than Addai, and that will be an obvious statement if Addai is listed as inactive. As always, we will know whether or not Addai will be active about an hour before kickoff on Thursday (check with us around 7:15 p.m. ET). If he does play, treat him like a No. 3 Fantasy RB while Rhodes fills in as a low-end No. 2 option.
News: The Indianapolis Star reports that Colts head coach Tony Dungy expects RB Joseph Addai to practice this week and play at Jacksonville on Thursday as part of Week 16 action. Addai didn't practice last week and missed the team's game vs. Detroit, a tactical move according to Dungy. "(He) would have been doubtful to play two games in five days," Dungy said. "We thought the prudent thing was to rest (him) up. I think (he) should be ready to go."
Analysis: While the Fantasy owners who enjoyed Dominic Rhodes' two touchdowns in Week 15 will be bummed with this news, those who benched Addai and are still playing meaningful games should be delighted. Figure Addai to be a serviceable No. 2 Fantasy RB for Week 16, though he should lose some reps to Rhodes, who won't be any better than a low-end No. 3 choice. We'll keep you posted on the latest news regarding the Indianapolis backfield leading up to their game at Jacksonville on Thursday.
News: Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai is officially inactive for Week 15 against Detroit with a shoulder injury. The Colts are facing a horrid defense and don't expect to need Addai's services which could be the reason for him taking the game off. Dominic Rhodes will get the start.
Analysis: Rhodes would be an exceptional replacement for Addai in Week 15. In fact, we like Rhodes as a No. 2 Fantasy RB with lots of potential for a big week against the lowly Lions. Addai is still a must-start in Fantasy when active and we expect him to be back for Week 16 at Jacksonville.
News: The Colts have listed RB Joseph Addai as questionable for Week 15 vs. Detroit, but he hasn't practiced all week as he's been hampered by a shoulder injury. The Indianapolis Star suggests that Addai won't play citing the insignificance of the game and the Colts' likely win even without him playing. Dominic Rhodes is expected to start in his place.
Analysis: We'll be the first to know whether or not he'll be active this Sunday on Fantasy Football Today, 11 a.m. ET here on CBSSports.com. Until then, go with the assumption that Addai won't play. Rhodes would be an exceptional replacement for him given the matchup. In fact, we like Rhodes as a No. 2 Fantasy RB with lots of potential for a big week against the lowly Lions. If Addai were to be made active, we wouldn't expect many reps -- remember, he had just 10 last week.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (shoulder) didn't practice Thursday, and coach Tony Dungy told NFL.com he "may not be able to go" Week 15 against the Lions on Wednesday. He left early Week 14 against the Bengals because of the injury.
Analysis: Addai rushed 10 times for only 26 yards against the Bengals, so this injury might save you the trouble of having to decided whether or not to start a cold running back. The matchup against the Lions is obviously a great one, but Dominic Rhodes will get to enjoy it if Addai has to sit out. Keep an eye on Addai's status throughout the week, but make sure you put in a claim for Rhodes if he remains unowned or maybe even Najeh Davenport, who the Colts just signed on Wednesday.

News: Playing without center Jeff Saturday in Week 14 against the Bengals, RB Joseph Addai only rushed 10 times for 26 yards with no scores. He added two catches for 14 yards. The Colts didn't need any more production as they won the game 35-3.
Analysis: Addai hasn't scored a touchdown in three straight weeks for the Colts but his low production in Week 14 was more because the Colts didn't really need him. The extra rest he got by not having too many carries could help him in Week 15 against Detroit. The Lions are the worst in football against the rush and Addai is a must-start option next week.
News: Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai (knee), who showed up on the injury report late in the week, is active and starting in Week 14 hosting the Bengals, reports Fantasy Football Today.
Analysis: Addai missed a few games earlier this season with a hamstring ailment, but has managed to suit up for the last five games and this injury shouldn't affect his numbers. He passes as a viable No. 1 Fantasy RB against a suspect Bengals defense.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai was added to the team's injury report Friday because of a knee injury. He is questionable heading into Week 14 vs. Cincinnati. Addai scaled back to limited reps Friday after a full routine all week. The Colts nor Addai had comment. If Addai can't play Sunday, Dominic Rhodes will start in his place.
Analysis: Addai missed a few games earlier this season with a hamstring ailment, but has managed to suit up for the last five games. It appears as though Addai could be a game-time decision Week 14. If healthy, he passes as a viable No. 1 Fantasy RB against a suspect Bengals defense. Let's hope for the best and wish Addai well leading up to Sunday.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai, who topped 100 total yards each of the last two weeks, giving him his first two 100-yard games this season, had only 63 total yards Week 13 at Cleveland. He ran 15 times for 57 yards and caught one pass for six. He also lost a fumble.
Analysis: Addai had lived up to his first-round status over the last two weeks, but on Sunday, he played more like the Draft-Day bust his owners have come to know over the course of the season. He has a nice matchup Week 14 against the Bengals, so you'll want to keep him active, but he's not a slam-dunk No. 1 Fantasy RB.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai had 16 carries for 70 yards and seven catches for 31 yards Sunday at San Diego. It was a step back from his two-touchdown outing last week against Houston, but Addai remains a good receiver with 11 catches the past two weeks.
Analysis: Addai is getting closer to looking like a No. 1 Fantasy RB again. He has a great matchup in Week 13 at Cleveland, so continue to start Addai in all leagues.
News: After a few weeks lost to injury and a few more being hampered, Colts RB Joseph Addai broke out on Sunday of Week 11 against Houston. Addai picked up his first 100-yard rushing game of the season as he totaled 105 yards on 22 carries and a touchdown. He also caught four passes for 48 more yards and another score. He was the recipient of a 23-yard TD pass from Peyton Manning in the 3rd period and scored on the ground from 7-yards out later in the 3rd.
Analysis: Addai should be treated as a No. 2 Fantasy RB but he looked more like a No. 1 RB in Week 11. The Colts play at San Diego in Week 12 and the Chargers are pretty sound against the run. Addai should still be starting across the board after Week 11's output.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai carried the ball 12 times for 34 yards during a Week 10 win against the Steelers. He didn't find the end zone and his longest carry went 11 yards. Addai also had two catches for 13 yards. He has just 29 carries for 66 yards in his first two games back since missing two games with a hamstring injury.
Analysis: Let's not be so quick to judge Addai's injury as the culprit for his recent struggles. He has faced both the Patriots and Steelers in his last two games -- very tough opponents. If he struggles Week 11 against the Texans, then we might start to suspect he is not 100 percent. For now, treat Addai as a No. 2 Fantasy RB heading into Week 11. He had 71 rushing yards and one touchdown in his first game against Houston this season.
News: The Steelers run defense has been impressive, allowing just 70.1 yards per game and three touchdowns on the season. They held the league's leading rusher in Clinton Portis to 51 rushing yards last week. Colts RB Joseph Addai returned from a two-game absence from a hamstring injury last week against New England and looked sluggish with 17 carries for 32 yards and two catches for 10 yards.
Analysis: Addai won't find much room to run against the Steelers, and he could spend extra time blocking on passing plays with Pittsburgh's ability to blitz. Addai, who is still looking for his first 100-yard game this season, will have better days ahead with matchups against Houston, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Detroit. But this is a week to keep him reserved if you can afford to do so and find a better player who has an easier matchup. Consider Addai a low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB at best this week.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai returned after missing two games with a hamstring injury and had 17 carries for 32 yards and two catches for 10 yards Sunday against the Patriots.
Analysis: It will take Addai some time to feel comfortable after being out, and it doesn't get easy in Week 10 at the Steelers. Consider Addai a No. 2 Fantasy RB since Pittsburgh does so well against the run. Hopefully, Addai will be ready to go with no setbacks in Week 10.
News: Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai (hamstring) is healthy and active and starting in Week 9's Sunday night game against the Patriots.
Analysis: Addai pummeled the Patriots in his last meeting, and the Patriots rank 20th in run defense with four rushing touchdowns allowed. Consider Addai a quality starting option in Week 9.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai practiced in full all week and seems like a lock to start vs. the Patriots in Week 9. The team listed him as questionable with a hamstring injury, but all indications are that he'll make his return to the field this week.
Analysis: Addai pummeled the Patriots in his last meeting, and the Patriots rank 20th in run defense with four rushing touchdowns allowed. Consider Addai a quality starting option in Week 9.
News: Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai (hamstring) was able to practice in full for the second straight day on Thursday in preparation for Week 9 at home against the Patriots. He's missed the two previous games for Indy.
Analysis: When healthy, Addai is a No. 1 Fantasy RB, and the Patriots rank No. 20 in run defense with four rushing touchdowns allowed.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai returned to the practice field Wednesday after missing the previous two games with a hamstring injury. He looks like he'll play Week 9 against the Patriots, according to coach Tony Dungy, and the team didn't list him on the practice report. He went down with a hamstring injury early in the Baltimore game Oct. 12.
Analysis: When healthy, Addai is a No. 1 Fantasy RB, and the Patriots rank No. 20 in run defense with four rushing touchdowns allowed. Keep an eye on his progress, but since the Colts didn't list him on the practice report, he looks like a safe bet to play this week.
News: Colts coach Tony Dungy told members of the New England media on a conference call that he expects RB Joseph Addai (hamstring) to practice this week and be ready to play against the Patriots on Sunday night. Addai, who rushed for 1,081 and 1,072 yards in his first two seasons, respectively, tweaked his right hamstring in the first quarter of the Colts' Oct. 12 win over the Ravens and was inactive for losses to the Packers and Titans. Dominic Rhodes replaced Addai the past two games.
Analysis: Keep an eye on what happens with Addai and hopefully he can return. When healthy, Addai is a No. 1 Fantasy RB, and the Patriots rank No. 20 in run defense with four rushing touchdowns allowed. If Addai does return, get him back in your starting lineup, and Rhodes would take a hit with his Fantasy value and would not be worth using this week.
News: The Colts have declared RB Joseph Addai inactive for Week 8 at Tennessee, meaning he'll miss his second straight game with a hamstring injury. The team didn't expect him to play after he missed practice Thursday and Friday. Dominic Rhodes will once again start in his absence.
Analysis: The Colts feared Addai might miss 2-4 weeks with the hamstring injury, and he expressed concern over rushing back too soon and suffering a setback. He has yet to rush for 100 yards in a game this season, falling from the ranks of the elite in the process, but he still deserves to start in all leagues when healthy. Keep an eye on his progress leading up to Week 9 against the Patriots.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Week 8 at Tennessee, but he did not practice Thursday or Friday after limited reps Wednesday. Head coach Tony Dungy told NFL.com he doesn't expect Addai to be active Monday. RB Dominic Rhodes is once again expected to start in his place.
Analysis: Addai, who missed just one game in his first two NFL seasons, was out Week 7 game against Green Bay. "You've got to be smart," Addai said. "I've talked to a lot of older guys on the team. Regardless, you want to go out and play, so that's the biggest thing, but at the same time, you don't want to go out there and set yourself back. I think that's where I am right now. I want to go out there, but I don't want to be stupid. That's the biggest thing, really being smart about what's going on and trusting the trainers and the staff about how I should go about it." The Colts feared Addai might miss 2-4 weeks with the hamstring injury, so him missing Week 8 doesn't mean he suffered a setback. Continue to use healthier alternatives in Fantasy.
News: Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai was originally expected to miss up to one month because of the hamstring injury he suffered against Baltimore in Week 6 but the Colts refuse to rule him out at Tennessee in Week 8. He could not practice on Thursday but Colts owner Bill Polian gives him a 50-50 chance to return.
Analysis: Addai hasn't produced the numbers of a No. 1 Fantasy RB when healthy, but you'll want to get him active if he can play. Keep a close eye on his status.
News: Indianapolis did not practice on Wednesday but the Colts still listed RB Joseph Addai as being questionable for Week 8 at Tennessee on Monday night. Addai was listed as having limited participation.
Analysis: Addai was expected to miss up to a month after hurting his hamstring in the first quarter of Indy's 31-3 victory over Baltimore last week. There were reports that Addai had a partial tear, something Dungy has denied. Addai hasn't produced the numbers of a No. 1 Fantasy RB when healthy, but you'll want to get him active if he can play. Keep a close eye on his status.
News: Colts coach Tony Dungy hopes RB Joseph Addai, who missed Week 7 at Green Bay with a hamstring injury, can return soon. "It's hard to say," Dungy said when asked about Addai. "He wanted to try and go last week, but we thought maybe, with the extra day (off) this week, it might help him." The Colts play the Titans on Monday night in Week 8.
News: As expected, the Colts put RB Joseph Addai on the inactive list Week 7 against the Packers because of a hamstring injury. He will be replaced by Dominic Rhodes.
Analysis: Addai might miss 2-4 weeks because of the injury, so Fantasy owners will need to keep a close eye on his status leading up to Week 8. The Colts already had their bye, so Addai has little chance to rest. Keep Addai reserved Fantasy Week 7 and hope for a speedy recovery.
News: Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai will miss the Colts' game at Green Bay because of a hamstring injury. The Colts downgraded Addai from doubtful to out Saturday. Addai left in the first quarter against Baltimore last Sunday and didn't return.
Analysis: Addai has struggled this season, rushing for no more than 78 yards in any one game, but he had still done enough that his Fantasy owners will feel his absence. Keep Addai reserved Fantasy Week 7 and hope for a speedy recovery.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Week 7 at Green Bay. Addai has not practiced all week and will miss his first game Sunday. He is expected to miss 2-4 weeks, but his status is still being treated on a week-to-week case. Dominic Rhodes figures to carry the load in his absence.
Analysis: Addai has struggled this season, rushing for no more than 78 yards in any one game, but he had still done enough that his Fantasy owners will feel his absence. Keep Addai reserved Fantasy Week 7 and hope for a speedy recovery.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai hopes an injured hamstring won't keep him out too long. Addai is still sore and is likely to miss Week 7 at Green Bay, but the Colts running back, who made his first Pro Bowl last season, wouldn't say Thursday whether the muscle is torn. "Right now, it's not feeling too good," he said. "The biggest thing is just getting it back to where it feels strong." Reports surfaced Wednesday night that Addai had a partially torn hamstring. If the rumor is true, he could miss up to four weeks. That's not what the Colts have been saying all week, and coach Tony Dungy reiterated that position again during his availability with reporters Thursday. "I hope not," he said. "I read that yesterday, but I hadn't heard that."
Analysis: Dungy has said Addai probably would be held out this weekend even if he felt good enough to play. Dominic Rhodes figures to carry the load in his absence. Addai has struggled this season, rushing for no more than 78 yards in any one game, but he had still done enough that his Fantasy owners will feel his absence. Hopefully, the rumors don't prove true, but if nothing else, you should expect to bench him this week.
News: NFL Network reports that Colts RB Joseph Addai has a slightly torn hamstring that the club wants to rest for at least the next two weeks and possibly two more thereafter. Dominic Rhodes is expected to start for the club at Green Bay in Week 7, according to Colts coach Tony Dungy.
Analysis: Addai's Fantasy owners must scramble to replace him for Week 7, with Rhodes a solid replacement. In fact, Rhodes should be considered a quality No. 2 Fantasy RB for Week 7 now that we know he'll be playing against a suspect Packers run defense. Rhodes has relatively fresh legs, and the Colts' offense showed signs of being back to normal last week. Addai needs to remain benched, of course.
News: Colts coach Tony Dungy said he didn't believe RB Joseph Addai's injury was serious, reports the Indianapolis Star. Addai left the game against the Ravens in Week 6 with a hamstring injury.
Analysis: Keep an eye on Addai's status for Week 7 at Green Bay. Hopefully he is able to play, but it could come down to if he practices by Friday. For now, keep him active unless Dungy and the Colts rule him out. When healthy, Addai is a No. 1 RB against the Packers.
News: Indianapolis RB Joseph Addai left in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Ravens with a hamstring injury. Addai limped off the field after a 2-yard gain on the first play of the Colts' second series. His return was questionable. Addai entered the game as the Colts' leader with 213 yards rushing and four touchdowns. He finished with two carries for 3 yards.
Analysis: Keep an eye on Addai's status for Week 7 at Green Bay. When healthy, Addai is a No. 1 Fantasy option, and hopefully he won't have to miss extended action with the injury.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai left Week 6 against Baltimore with an injured hamstring. His return is questionable. He was replaced by Dominic Rhodes.
Analysis: We expected Addai to struggle against the Ravens, but this isn't what we had in mind. Hopefully he can return during the game and get back on track.
News: The Colts' Week 6 opponent, the Ravens, are ranked No. 1 in the NFL against the run. They have yet to allow a touchdown this year on the ground and haven't allowed a 100-yard rusher in 22 games. Colts RB Joseph Addai scored three touchdowns (two rushing, one receiving) against Baltimore in their only meeting last season. Addai, who is the CBSSports.com Sit of the Week hasn't rushed for 100 yards in his past 13 games, including the playoffs. His high over that span was 78 rushing yards in Week 3 against Jacksonville. He's also not getting involved in the passing game and only has five catches for 29 yards on the season, which is down for him since he averaged 40 catches a year in his first two seasons.
Analysis: Addai's yardage in his last two games against Baltimore (a regular-season game in 2007 and a playoff game in 2006) are cause for concern. In his career, he's totaled 71 yards on 31 carries, an awful 2.3 yards per carry average. He's actually made his mark as a receiver, though, catching six passes for 71 yards (a much better 11.8 average). Look for Addai to have some tough running in the game. As for his chances to score, just remember that Baltimore hasn't allowed a 100-yard rusher. Even with Addai scoring in each of his last three games, he's at best 50-50 to be good for a score. Consider Addai a low-end No. 2 Fantasy option this week.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai had 17 carries for 71 yards and a touchdown Sunday at Houston. He also added one catch for 3 yards.
Analysis: Addai now has four touchdowns on the season but has yet to rush for 100 yards. He will have a tough matchup in Week 6 against Baltimore, but Addai will remain a No. 2 Fantasy option against the Ravens.
News: You're probably starting Joseph Addai at Houston in Week 5 anyway, but we thought you'd like to know that he's totaled 4 TDs in his last four vs. Houston with two 100-total-yard games. Helping the cause is Houston's 27th-ranked run defense.
Analysis: Expect a solid game from Addai in Week 5. Start him in all leagues. For more information on players who are facing familiar foes this week, check out our weekly History Lesson column.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai rushed 16 times for 78 yards in Week 3 against Jacksonville, including a pair of touchdowns. He also caught one pass for 10 yards.
Analysis: Addai has yet to run for 100 yards this season, but he doubled his total rushing yards for the season with the 78 yards. The Colts offense has gotten off to a slow start this season, but some of that may have to do with Peyton Manning not being around in the preseason. The Colts will be on a bye in Week 4, but Addai should be active in all leagues for Week 5 at Houston.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai has never scored or rushed for 100 yards against Jacksonville. He has one 100-total-yard game in his career against the Jaguars and is averaging 2.4 yards per carry this season with one touchdown and no 100-total-yard games through two weeks thanks in part to the Colts' O-line. Indianapolis hosts Jacksonville in Week 3.
Analysis: Addai was a first-round pick in all drafts this season but a ton of folks will be benching him until at least Week 5 at Houston. Center Jeff Saturday should be back by then, which will be a huge help for Addai. If you have a guy with a better matchup like Tennessee's Chris Johnson, then don't feel bad about benching Addai for Week 3.
News: Indianapolis wants to get back to basics. To do that, they must begin running the ball effectively. Pro Bowler Joseph Addai has 27 carries for 64 yards in two games, or 2.4 yards per carry. Minnesota's Adrian Peterson ran for nearly twice that (118) in the first half Sunday. Thirty-five players, including backups Jerious Norwood of Atlanta, Warrick Dunn of Tampa Bay and LenDale White of Tennessee, actually have more yards rushing than the Colts have produced as a team (78). What's wrong? Clearly, the Colts are adjusting to a rebuilt offensive line. Defenses have taken advantage by crowding the line of scrimmage. Head coach Tony Dungy isn't worried. "I'm really not that concerned about the running game," Dungy said. "We need to be sharp and execute well. We'll be fine."
Analysis: The Colts' next opponent is Jacksonville, a team that has been so-so against the run this season and could be more focused on stopping Peyton Manning than Joseph Addai. After that, the Colts have a bye and should be healthier. Figure Addai to continue starting but not taking off until Week 5 at Houston.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai returned from a concussion in Week 1 against Chicago to rush for 20 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries in Week 2 at Minnesota. Addai also added two catches for 13 yards.
Analysis: While the touchdown for Addai was questionable, it saved his outing against the Vikings. Addai has now gone 11 regular season games without rushing for 100 yards. He still remains a No. 1 option because of the offense he plays in, but lower your expectations for Addai in Week 3 against Jacksonville.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai was not listed on the injury reports this week after leaving Week 1 against the Bears with a head injury. He is expected to start Week 2 at Minnesota, which was No. 1 in run defense last year but allowed 139 rushing yards and a touchdown in Week 1 at Green Bay. Addai finished with 12 carries for 44 yards and one catch for 3 yards before leaving against Chicago.
Analysis: Look for Addai to struggle running the ball this week. Still, because he's a dual threat running and catching, he should be able to make some plays. Consider him a No. 2 Fantasy option at Minnesota.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai left Week 1 against the Bears in the fourth quarter with a head injury. He didn't return. He finished with 12 carries for 44 yards and one catch for three. The Colts didn't say he had a concussion, but he sat out the sidelines looking a bit dazed as the game clock wound to zero.
Analysis: Addai might have suffered a concussion, which would affect his status for Week 2 at Minnesota. He's an elite Fantasy RB when healthy -- a top-five pick in traditional drafts -- but monitor his status over the next week. If you want insurance, take a flier on Dominic Rhodes. The Colts play a tough run defense at Minnesota in Week 2, but Addai would still deserve to start in Fantasy if healthy.
News: The Indianapolis Star reports that Colts Pro Bowl C Jeff Saturday will be out for at least six weeks after tearing his MCL in Sunday's preseason loss to the Bills. If he elects to have surgery, he could be out for even longer.
Analysis: All the Colts weapons are going to feel the effect of this key loss to the offensive line in Indy, but we'll have to wait and see exactly how much of an effect it will have. Peyton Manning and Saturday have had a great relationship over the years and now the sure-fire first-round pick in all leagues will have to be a little worried about keeping an eye on rushers coming right up the middle. Don't drop Manning, Joseph Addai or Reggie Wayne too far in your rankings because of this move, but you need to be aware of this situation heading into the season.
News: Indianapolis starting RB Joseph Addai played in limited action on Sunday against the Bills in the team's third preseason game. Addai rushed three times for 19 yards and also caught three balls for 16 more.
Analysis: Addai should have another outstanding season and is worth taking with a high first-round pick in all leagues. Hopefully for Fantasy owners, Addai will remain consistent throughout the year and put up another solid performance.
News: The Indianapolis Colts RBs certainly didn't impress anyone on Saturday against the Panthers. After starter Joseph Addai left with four carries for zero yards, Dominic Rhodes and Kenton Keith, both vying for the backup carries, were quite pathetic as well. Rhodes rushed for minus-2 yards on four carries and Keith gained one yard on one carry.
Analysis: Look for Rhodes to win the No. 2 job behind Addai and get as much as 10 carries per game. Because of that, he's worth drafting as a low-end Fantasy RB and a good handcuff for Addai. If Keith wins the battle, he'd be the low-end RB, if he loses, he's not worth drafting in Fantasy.
News: The Indianapolis Star reports Colts RB Joseph Addai can join Edgerrin James (2002-05), Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson (1987-89) and Lydell Mitchell (1975-77) as the only players in club history to rush for at least 1,000 yards in three straight seasons. Addai also is hoping for a better second half. Addai averaged 100.6 yards per game and 4.7 yards per attempt in his first seven games, but only 45.7 and 3.3 the rest of the way, including the playoff loss to San Diego.
Analysis: Addai should have another outstanding season and is worth taking with a high first-round pick in all leagues. Hopefully for Fantasy owners, Addai will remain consistent throughout the year and put up another solid performance.
News: The Indianapolis Star reports that Colts RB Joseph Addai's performance in his second season was a tale of two halves. He averaged 4.7 yards per attempt and rushed for at least 100 yards in four of his first seven games. In his final nine games, he managed just 3.3 yards per attempt and rushed for more than 55 yards only three times. Addai dealt with minor injuries virtually the entire season, and missed the Tampa Bay victory with a bruised chest. However, he refused to use injuries as an excuse for his diminishing returns in the running game. There were other contributing factors. Tackles Tony Ugoh and Ryan Diem were hurt, forcing a shuffle along the offensive line. Addai also didn't play as much after the Colts had wrapped up their sixth straight playoff berth. He had only 38 carries in the last four regular-season games, a total of just 10 in the last two. "I didn't see him wearing down," coach Tony Dungy said of Addai. "I just think we probably as a whole didn't run the ball as well in the second half of the year as we would have liked."
Analysis: Intent on rectifying the problem, the Colts re-signed Dominic Rhodes this offseason. He was an ideal complement to Addai in '06; a powerful, decisive runner to Addai's slashing, cutting, accelerating style. Kenton Keith filled Rhodes' void in '07 by rushing for 533 yards and three touchdowns, but was inconsistent in the passing game. He'll have to fend off Rhodes' challenge in training camp. But no one should question Addai's status as the focal point of the Colts' running game. In 2008 he can join Lydell Mitchell, Eric Dickerson and Edgerrin James as the only players in team history to rush for at least 1,000 yards in three consecutive seasons. Look for Addai to bounce back strong in 2008. He is a No. 1 Fantasy option and worthy of being selected in the first round of all drafts.
News: The Colts have put their tag-team runners -- Joseph Addai and Dominic Rhodes -- back together. The tandem that helped Indianapolis win its first Super Bowl title has been reunited after Rhodes agreed on a one-year deal to return to the Colts. Rhodes' agent, Mike McCartney confirmed the signing Wednesday in an e-mail to The Associated Press. The transition should be smooth for Rhodes, who is expected to share reps with Addai, albeit not to the extent he did in 2006.
Analysis: If you've drafted Addai, or want to draft Addai, there's no reason to panic. Addai still rushed well as a rookie while splitting with Rhodes and will still get the lion's share of the carries in Indianapolis' awesome offense. Continue to treat Addai as a No. 1 Fantasy RB well worth a pick between fourth and seventh overall in every league this summer.
News: Free-agent RB Dominic Rhodes is garnering plenty of attention from NFL clubs. The Colts appear to be the front-runner, according to NFL Network. In fact, NFL Network says that Rhodes is close to signing with the club to back up Joseph Addai. The Broncos are also interested, according to ESPN.
Analysis: In Indianapolis, Rhodes would likely see close to 10 touches per game aiding Addai in the Colts' run game. We like the fit a lot, though it would mean less work overall for Addai. He'd be a splendid reserve rusher in Fantasy play as well as insurance for those who take Addai with a first-round choice.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai played well in his first season as a starter in 2007. After spending his rookie year in a tandem with Dominic Rhodes, Addai started 15 games in 2007 and finished with 1,072 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns and caught 50 passes for 431 yards and three touchdowns. The knock Addai was he couldn't stay healthy, but he only missed one game in Week 5 with a chest injury.
Analysis: Addai played well and has emerged as one of the elite backs in the NFL. Look for that to continue in 2008, and he is a lock to be a first-round draft pick in all leagues.
News: Bracing for the playoffs, the Colts held RB Joseph Addai to only five touches -- four carries and one catch -- Week 17 against the Titans. He finished with 27 yards rushing and eight receiving.
Analysis: After getting off to a torrid start, Addai finished with only 1,072 yards rushing -- less than during his rookie season, when he split carries with Dominic Rhodes. In fact, he rushed for no more than 72 yards in any of his last eight games. Still, he catches balls out of the backfield and scores plenty of touchdown, so consider him a first-round talent in Fantasy.
News: The Colts didn't list RB Joseph Addai on their injury report for Week 17 against the Titans even though he suffered back and shoulder injuries Week 16. Still, don't expect him to play much with the Colts preparing for the playoffs. "We've got the same type of situation this week, where the game really doesn't mean much, and we got some rest for some of our regulars at the end of the game," coach Tony Dungy said. "That's probably what we'll do this week only a little earlier. We do plan to play everybody, we're just not sure how long yet."
Analysis: Fantasy owners playing in Week 17 shouldn't expect to see much of Addai, who missed a chunk of Week 16 because of the injuries. We expect Kenton Keith and Clifton Dawson to see a lot of work (especially Dawson so that Keith stays healthy). Hopefully, you own a backup Fantasy running back that can replace Addai in your lineup in Week 17.
News: All eyes are focused on Indianapolis to see if Dungy plays his starters in the NFL's final regular season game, just as they were for the league's season-opener in September. And the usually cautious Dungy won't tip his hand much, but he is planning on pulling Peyton Manning and his starters no later than the end of the first half. In previous meaningless regular-season finales, his starters worked one series before leaving. It could happen again Sunday night, although Dungy sounds like he'll give his first-teamers a few more snaps. "We've got the same type of situation this week, where the game really doesn't mean much, and we got some rest for some of our regulars at the end of the game," Dungy said. "That's probably what we'll do this week only a little earlier. We do plan to play everybody, we're just not sure how long yet."
Analysis: Fantasy owners playing in Week 17 shouldn't expect to see much of Addai, who hurt his back and shoulder, missing a chunk of Week 16. We expect Kenton Keith and Clifton Dawson to see a lot of work (especially Dawson so that Keith stays healthy). Hopefully you own a backup Fantasy running back that can replace Addai in your lineup in Week 17.
News: Indianapolis Pro Bowl RB Joseph Addai left Sunday's game against the Texans with an injury and did not return. Addai was reported to have suffered back and shoulder injuries while being tackled in the first quarter. He returned to score on a 2-yard run early in the second quarter, then left the game again. Colts officials later explained his absence as a coaches' decision. Addai finished with six carries for 26 yards and a score and one catch for 5 yards. Afterward, Colts coach Tony Dungy said Addai could have returned.
Analysis: Addai will likely rest in Week 17 against the Titans with the Colts having nothing to play for. Continue to monitor what develops before setting your lineup, but plan on playing in Week 17 without Addai in your Fantasy lineup.
News:Joseph Addai keeps breaking tackles, using nifty spin moves to elude defenders and has become a more integral receiver in the Colts' offense. But over the last six weeks, Addai also has become a symbol of something else: the Colts' plodding ground game. During the first eight games, the Colts (12-2) averaged 137.7 yards rushing per game and 4.4 yards per carry. Since then, the ground game dried up. The Colts have averaged just 73.2 yards per game and 2.9 per carry over the last six weeks, winning three times by a touchdown or less. At times, Addai also has contended with a makeshift line missing both starting tackles and at one point having moved starting guard Jake Scott over to tackle. "We've got to get back to being more balanced, running it on first down more effectively," said Manning, one of five Colts headed to the Pro Bowl. "Running it effectively helps you drop back to pass and run play action, and we need to do that."
Analysis: Against some of the league's worst run defenses, notably Kansas City and Oakland, the Colts struggled. The Chiefs, now ranked 26th against the run, limited Indianapolis to 66 yards on 27 carries last month, and on Sunday, Oakland, which has the league's second-worst run defense, held the Colts to 58 yards on 20 carries. The Colts have been cautious about using Addai too much. His touches are up slightly over his rookie pace. Last year, Addai had 226 carries and 40 receptions; this year he's had 290 touches with two games remaining. Dungy doesn't see any indication Addai needs a break. When asked whether Addai was wearing down, Dungy said: "Not at all, not at all." Addai has a terrific history against Houston, he won't get pulled to rest for the playoffs, and should be a No. 1 Fantasy RB owners can rely on in Week 16.
News: According to the Indianapolis Star, Colts coach Tony Dungy plans to use his players "like we normally would" in Sunday's game against Houston, with perhaps a more conservative approach for the regular-season finale at home against Tennessee a week later. Coming off a victory at Oakland, the Colts are assured of a first-round bye and the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoffs no matter what happens in the final regular-season games. One person who doesn't want to be cautious is QB Peyton Manning, who told reporters after the Oakland victory that he needs more game action with new players such as rookie WR Anthony Gonzalez.
Analysis: This is great news for players such as Manning, Reggie Wayne, Joseph Addai, Dallas Clark and Gonzalez. Continue to start all these players as you normally would in your Fantasy leagues because they will likely play the majority of the game against the Texans.
News: For the sixth straight game, Colts RB Joseph Addai ran for fewer than 75 yards Week 15 at Oakland. He gained 44 yards on 15 carries. He also had 33 on five catches.
Analysis: At least Addai crossed the 1,000-yard threshold -- a testament to his overall good play this season. He remains a must-start in Fantasy since he also contributes in the passing game, but his current slump comes at the worst possible time for his Fantasy owners. Hopefully, he can get back to rushing for 100 yards Week 16 against the Texans.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai has to be excited about facing the Raiders in Week 15. Oakland is No. 31 in run defense and leads the NFL with 21 rushing touchdowns allowed. Addai has five touchdowns in his past five games, including three at Baltimore last week.
Analysis: Addai is a No. 1 Fantasy RB and should excel this week against the lowly Raiders.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai scored three touchdowns in the first half Week 14 at Baltimore -- two rushing and one receiving. The runs went for one and 11 yards, and the pass went for 19. He finished with 13 carries for 32 yards and three receptions for 49.
Analysis: And Addai did all that damage while sitting out most of the second half. The second-year back has become a clear Fantasy stud and will likely go in the first five picks of 2008 Fantasy drafts. Obviously, keep him active for Week 15 at Oakland, where he should have a huge game.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai hasn't rushed for over 100 yards in his past four games and has just two touchdown in that span. In his past two games against Atlanta and Jacksonville, Addai has combined for just 111 yards rushing. Now Addai faces Baltimore, which is No. 3 in run defense with only five rushing touchdowns allowed.
Analysis: Addai's struggles could continue this week. He should still be started as a No. 1 Fantasy RB but lower your expectations because of the matchup.
News:Joseph Addai only managed 67 yards on 21 carries (3.2 avg.) vs. Jacksonville in Week 13. He recorded no catches and was passed over in a short goal-to-go situation for FB Luke Lawton on a shovel pass.
Analysis: Addai has never produced a strong effort against Jacksonville (four games). He's never scored on them, and that will continue into 2008. Addai will also have trouble in Week 14 at Baltimore, whose run defense is still very strong. It's hard to sit Addai because of his potential, but he's not expected to chew up the Ravens for many yards in his upcoming game.
News: Colts running back Joseph Addai missed Friday's workout, but he is expected to start against the Jaguars. His absence was listed as a team decision on the Colts' daily practice participation release.
Analysis: Addai has not done well in three previous meetings with the Jaguars but is too good a player to sit in Fantasy play. Start him in all leagues and hope he pieces together over 100 yards.
News: In three career games against the Jaguars, Colts RB Joseph Addai has zero touchdowns and one game with 100 total yards (that came earlier this year). Addai and the Colts host the Jaguars in Week 13. Indy's workhorse left part of Week 12 with a neck injury (he did return) and is expected to start at this time.
Analysis: Addai is still a No. 1 Fantasy RB because he'll touch the ball close to 20 times against the Jaguars, but keep expectations realistic, especially in the wake of his neck problem and his potential loss of reps to Kenton Keith.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai left early Week 12 at Atlanta with a neck injury that looked potentially serious. However, he returned before the end of the second quarter and split carries with Kenton Keith the rest of the way, even driving in for a four-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. He finished with 10 carries for 44 yards and two catches for 14.
Analysis: All's well that ends well, right? The Colts originally called Addai's return questionable, but he looked right as rain once he got back into the game. Considering the game was never really in doubt after the half, the Colts continued use of Addai suggests he'll be fine for Week 13 against the Jaguars. Keep the No. 1 Fantasy RB active in all leagues, assuming his neck doesn't take a turn for the worse.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai will run at Atlanta on Thanksgiving Day in Week 12 action, and his workload just got a lot easier as the Falcons placed starting defensive tackles Rod Coleman and Trey Lewis on injured reserve on Tuesday. With both players healthy, the Falcons ranked 25th against the run.
Analysis: Addai should have a bang-up day this Thursday against the Falcons. Start him as a solid No. 1 Fantasy RB without any hesitation.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai, held to a season-low 56 yards rushing in Week 10, rebounded somewhat with 72 yards on 21 carries Week 11 against the Chiefs, including a three-yard touchdown jaunt in the third quarter. He also caught four passes for 34 yards.
Analysis: Addai has at least one touchdown in all but three of his nine games this season. He has at least 70 yards rushing in all but one. What does that tell you? Keep him active in all formats for Thursday's game Week 12 at Atlanta. He could have a monster game against that defense.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai heads into Week 11's matchup with Kansas City looking for his fourth straight 100-yard rushing game at home. The Chiefs rank 17th in rushing yards allowed, but have only given up four touchdowns on the ground, which ranks tied for second in the league.
Analysis: Addai was held to a season-low 56 yards in Week 10 against the Chargers, but shouldn't have any particular trouble exceeding that mark against the Chiefs. We rank him our fourth-best RB option in Week 11 and a must-start in all formats.
News: The Chargers held RB Joseph Addai of the visiting Colts to 56 yards on 22 carries in Week 10. Addai also caught three passes for 16 yards.
Analysis: The Chargers became the first team to hold Addai to less than 72 yards rushing this season. They also became only the third team to keep him from scoring a touchdown. Needless to say, keep one of Fantasy's few consistent RBs active for Week 11 against the Chiefs.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai has been a sophomore sensation so far this season and will try to follow in Adrian Peterson's footsteps when Indianapolis takes on the Chargers in Week 10. Peterson ran for an NFL-record 296 yards against San Diego in Week 9 and Addai could be in for a second straight big week in Week 10 after posting a total of 226 against the Patriots.
Analysis: Addai has four 100-yard games this season and hasn't been held below 72 yards in any contest. He also has failed to score in only two of eight games. Against the sorry Chargers run defense, we rank Addai as our No. 1 Fantasy RB in Week 10, and so obviously a must-start in all leagues.
News: The Colts gave the Patriots a steady diet of Joseph Addai Week 9. Addai not only rushed for more than 100 yards, he was also the team's leading receiver. He managed 114 receiving yards on five receptions, including a 73-yard catch-and-run for a touchdown. Addai bullied his way for 112 rushing yards on 26 carries, including a long gain of 21 yards.
Analysis: Addai has answered all the critics who said he couldn't be a feature back since he never was an every-down back in college and shared the load with Dominic Rhodes as a rookie in 2006. He has nine total touchdowns and 909 combined yards (rushing and receiving). Addai continues to establish himself as a No. 1 Fantasy RB. The Colts head to San Diego in Week 10.
News: Joseph Addai has only been in the league since 2006, but he's played the Patriots twice. Last year, while splitting reps with Dominic Rhodes, Addai totaled 32 carries for 99 yards with a touchdown and two catches for four receiving yards. Addai will see the bulk of the carries against a Patriots run defense ranked fifth in the league with four rushing touchdowns allowed.
Analysis: Addai will see a lot of work, especially if the Colts want to run the ball and keep the Patriots offense off the field. Obviously, start him if you own him for use in Week 9.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai had 23 carries for 100 yards and two touchdowns and also had two catches for 8 yards and a touchdown against Carolina.
Analysis: So much for sharing carries with Kenton Keith (six carries for 33 yards in garbage time). Addai is a No. 1 RB and should be started in all leagues in Week 9 against New England.
News: According to the Indianapolis Star, Colts RB Joseph Addai didn't mind sharing carries with Kenton Keith in Monday night's win at Jacksonville. Addai is still bothered by a sore shoulder injured against Denver on Sept. 30. "I was taking myself out and bringing myself back in," Addai said Thursday. "It's a long season and you want to be smart. I get that from the older guys: be smart about what you're doing." Addai said he could play an entire game if that was required of him. Against the Jaguars' 11th-ranked run defense, Addai carried 16 times for 85 yards and Keith 15 times for 56 yards and one TD.
Analysis: As previously reported, it appears Addai and Keith will continue to share carries. Addai remains a No. 1 option at Carolina, and Keith could see extended playing time against the Panthers, so think of him as a No. 3.
News: The Indianapolis Star reports that Colts coach Tony Dungy said he expects to continue using Joseph Addai and Kenton Keith in a rotation at running back for the rest of the season. "Kenton's played well and we want to get him in there," Dungy said. "I think we're developing more and more confidence in him. Joseph, missing the week before (with a chest injury), may have had a little something to do with it, but more and more I think having those guys go and keeping those guys fresh is going to be good for our running game."
Analysis: Bad news for Addai owners, great news for Keith owners and mixed news for those that own Addai and Keith. Addai should still start and be good for around 15-to-20 touches per game, while Keith will settle around 10-to-15 reps. Addai is still the better guy in Indy for now, but Keith will have a shot at emerging as a low-end No. 3 Fantasy RB, especially in games were Indy is expected to be up big in the second half as he'll be in there to keep Addai fresh. Addai remains a No. 1 option at Carolina, and Keith could see extended playing time against the hapless Panthers, so think of him as a No. 3.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai had a decent return to action Week 7 at Jacksonville. After missing Week 5 (and having a bye in Week 6) with a chest injury, he gained 85 yards on 16 carries and 22 on four catches. He went to the locker room midway through the fourth quarter, likely as a precautionary measure with the Colts up big.
Analysis: Kenton Keith got 15 carries to Addai's 16, including a touchdown in the first quarter, so Addai's Fantasy owners no doubt come out of Week 7 discouraged about the running back situation in Indianapolis. Don't sweat it. Addai's still a stud RB -- one of the few in Fantasy this season -- so keep him active for Week 8 at Carolina.
News: The Colts returned to the practice field Thursday as the team prepares for a Monday Night showdown against the Jaguars in Week 7. Absent from the team's practice report was RB Joseph Addai, who missed Week 5 against the Bucs with a chest injury. It appears as though the bye in Week 6 has Addai on track to play against Jacksonville.
Analysis: Great news for Addai owners. Barring any setbacks, Addai will have missed just the one game due to injury. Addai has 407 yards and five touchdowns in four games. He does face one of the better run defenses in Week 7, but should be considered no worse than a No. 2 Fantasy RB.
News: According to the Colts official web site, RB Joseph Addai (chest) should be able to play Week 7 against Jacksonville. Coach Tony Dungy said he expected Addai will practice when the Colts begin full-scale preparations for Jacksonville on Thursday.
Analysis: Consider Addai a No. 1 RB against the Jaguars, but continue to monitor his progress during the week before setting your lineup to make sure he will be given the go ahead to play.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai has been ruled inactive for Week 5 against the Bucs with a chest injury. Addai did not practice all week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. Kenton Keith will get the start in place of Addai.
Analysis: Bad news for Fantasy owners, especially since Addai came into Week 5 with 407 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Make sure to keep him reserved in all Fantasy formats. If you were lucky enough to pick up Keith during the week, activate him immediately. He might be able to produce like a No. 2 Fantasy RB.
News: The Colts have listed RB Joseph Addai (chest) as questionable for Week 5 vs. the Buccaneers. Like teammate Marvin Harrison, Addai did not practice all week; typically, if a player doesn't practice on Friday, he doesn't play on Sunday. If Addai were to miss the game, Kenton Keith would be the Colts' starting running back.
Analysis: From what we've seen and read, owners should expect to be without Addai this week. However, make it a point to check on his status with us on Sunday an hour before kickoff (figure 3 p.m. ET) to get final confirmation. Keith is a very reliable backup for Addai and owners should make a move to get him in all leagues whether they have Addai or not. Be sure to check in with us on Sunday to get the final word.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (chest) missed a second straight practice Thursday as the team prepares for Week 5 vs. Tampa Bay. Head coach Tony Dungy said on the team's official Web site that a decision on whether Addai or any other injured player suits up Week 5 will likely come Friday.
Analysis: Addai, last year's top rookie rusher, couldn't finish the game vs. Denver in Week 4 after taking a hard shot to his right shoulder. He has been great in his first year as an every down back. He has 407 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Continue to track Addai's status. If he plays, he still remains a must-start Fantasy option.
News: When the Colts went back to work Wednesday, coach Tony Dungy was making contingency plans for the possible absence of running back Joseph Addai, who was hurt in last Sunday's victory over Denver. Addai, last year's top rookie rusher, bruised his right shoulder in the fourth quarter when he was tackled near midfield. After the game, Dungy believed that Addai could have re-entered the game, but the Colts had the win in hand and backup Kenton Keith was running well in Addai's stead. "No one's out, and if they can practice by Friday, it would be a plus, definitely," Dungy said Wednesday of his hurt players, which includes Marvin Harrison and Bob Sanders. "You can sit and wait and hope that they'll come back, but I've never been one to do that. You have to move on."
Analysis: The only other running backs on Indy's active roster are Kenton Keith, Luke Lawton and Clifton Dawson, who was signed last week. Keith spent the last four seasons in the Canadian Football League and none of the three had an NFL carry until the season opener. Last week, Keith carried 10 times for 80 yards, primarily after Addai left, and is confident he can do the job this week if needed. If Addai doesn't play, Keith would be the man to get and start in his place vs. the Bucs in Week 5.
News: The Colts could be without Joseph Addai when they host Tampa Bay in Week 5. Coach Tony Dungy was awaiting medical updates and acknowledged that Addai could be sidelined. "All the guys that were hurt yesterday have a chance to be out, yes," Dungy said. "I'd have to say there's a chance they'll miss some practices or a game, so as coaches we have to plan for all of them to be out."
Analysis: Addai, last year's top rookie rusher, couldn't finish the game vs. Denver in Week 4 after taking a hard shot to his right shoulder. We'll be sure to keep tabs on Addai's health in the coming week and will tell you what we hear. Stay tuned.
News: According to the Indianapolis Star, Colts coach Tony Dungy said RB Joseph Addai could have returned Sunday against Denver if needed. Addai hurt his shoulder on the second play of the fourth quarter and did not return. He finished with 19 carries for 136 yards and a touchdown and also added three catches for 10 yards.
Analysis: Expect Addai to start in Week 5 against Tampa Bay, but continue to monitor his status and hope he is 100 percent. He is a No. 1 Fantasy RB and playing fantastic right now.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai had 19 carries for 136 yards and a touchdown Sunday against Denver. He left the game late after hurting his shoulder and did not return, but the Colts had a big lead and were running out the clock. Addai also added three catches for 10 yards.
Analysis: Addai is a No. 1 RB and should be fine for Week 5 against Tampa Bay, but continue to monitor his status and hope he is 100 percent against the Bucs.
News: In a game at Denver last year, Colts RB Joseph Addai had 17 carries for 93 yards with 37 yards receiving on five catches. Addai split carries in that game. He and the Colts host Denver in Week 4.
Analysis: Considering the Broncos' 29th-ranked run defense, look for Indianapolis to use Addai early and often in Week 4. He has reached elite status in CBSSports.com leagues -- he is owned and started in every league we run. Keep it up in Week 4.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai continued his strong season as a first-year starter, scoring two rushing touchdowns at the Texans in Week 3. His first score came from four yards out in the second quarter. He later scored on an eight-yard run in the third quarter. For the game, he had 72 yards on the ground on 22 carries. He also caught three passes for 19 yards.
Analysis: Addai continues to shine and has already proven worthy of his first-round status in preseason Fantasy drafts by scoring four touchdowns in three games. He remains a must-start in all leagues when his Colts host the Broncos in Week 4.
News: In two games as a rookie splitting time last year against the Texans, Colts RB Joseph Addai had 31 carries for 182 yards with no rushing TDs and 30 receiving yards on six catches with a receiving TD. Addai faces the Texans in Houston in Week 3 in a battle for first place in the AFC South. He should find success, although it is worth noting that Houston's run defense has held opposing rushers to 138 yards and zero touchdowns in two games, and that includes stumping Larry Johnson in Week 1 at home.
Analysis: As a major component of the always-dangerous Indy offense, Addai is a must-start in every single Fantasy league on the face of the earth.
News: Joseph Addai had 81 rush yards on 20 carries with a touchdown and six receiving yards at Tennessee in Week 2.
Analysis: Addai should continue to run with success at Houston in Week 3, although the Texans have been pretty strong against the run this season. Don't let that stop you, however.
News: Despite not starting in two games vs. the Titans last season, RB Joseph Addai totaled 29 carries for 118 yards (4.06 avg.) with three catches for 26 yards. Addai also has yet to rush for a touchdown against an AFC South rival.
Analysis: Addai got his 2007 season off to a great start in Week 1 vs. New Orleans and although he might not put up 143 yards again on Sunday, he's a solid No. 1 RB at Tennessee in Week 2.
News: Joseph Addai trampled the New Orleans defense for 118 rushing yards on 23 carries, including a touchdown, in Thursday's Week 1 opener. He also added 25 receiving yards on three receptions.
Analysis: Addai gave his Fantasy owners a little bit of a scare on the first play of the game, as he was down on the ground for a few moments after a stick from one of the Saints defenders. He left the field on his own power and simply had his wind knocked out. He was able to return later in the first quarter and he had a great game. The first-round Fantasy selection will look to continue to run wild in Week 2 at Tennessee, a team he should have similar, if not better, success against.
News: Joseph Addai, who left after the first play of the game on Thursday against the Saints, is back in for the Colts. He had his back and ribs examined and appears to be fine.
Analysis: That's good news for the Colts and Fantasy owners who invested a first round pick on him, as you never like to see your future limping off on the first play.
News: Joseph Addai was shaken up on the first play of Thursday's NFL opener against the Saints. Peyton Manning threw a pass to him and he was hit and unable to hang on. He was on his back for a while and appeared to maybe just have the wind knocked out of him.
Analysis: Addai was able to leave the field on his own power and was replaced by Kenton Keith in the backfield. It appears Addai will be able to return shortly.
News: According to the Indianapolis Star, Colts RB Joseph Addai is downplaying the idea of being the No. 1 guy this year. "It's whatever the coach asks me to do," he told the paper. "Last year, everybody was saying Dom (Rhodes) and I were sharing time, but sometimes Dom would get most of the carries and sometimes I would get the carries. It's really just trying to go out there and take advantage of what we're doing. All the backs are doing that because you never know. You could always be one play away (from playing every down)."
Analysis: Addai will be the main RB for the Colts this year, and Fantasy owners love it. He is a No. 1 option in all leagues and should be selected somewhere before the No. 7 overall pick. Expect a solid overall season from this second-year back.
News: Colts running back Joseph Addai carried seven times for 24 yards and scored on a 4-yard touchdown run to open the second quarter of Monday's preseason game against the Bears, a play that looked like his winning score against New England in last season's AFC championship game. Addai also had a reception for two yards.
Analysis: Coach Tony Dungy is just being cautious since this will be Addai's first year as a full-time starter. He should still be considered a No. 1 Fantasy RB. As for his backup, the battle is expected to come down primarily to either DeDe Dorsey, who gained valuable experience a year ago in learning the Colts intricate offensive system, and former CFL standout Kenton Keith. Depending on who it is, they might be worth drafting late in Fantasy leagues as insurance for Addai.
News: Joseph Addai had two carries for five yards in Thursday's preseason game at Dallas and he also chipped in with one reception for three yards in very limited play.
News: According to the Terre Haute News, the Colts are planning to use a tandem at running back this year with RB Joseph Addai. Colts coach Tony Dungy is intent on keeping the system in place despite the free-agency loss of Dominic Rhodes to the Oakland Raiders. It could be second-year pro DeDe Dorsey, who spent most of the 2006 season splitting time as the Colts third-string running back and on special-teams duty after he was picked up off the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad at the end of training camp last summer. Or could it possibly be former Canadian Football League standout Kenton Keith. Veteran James Mungro, who missed all of the 2006 season with a knee injury, is a restricted free agent but remains unsigned. He could be brought back at a later date.
Analysis: Addai may lose a few carries here or there, but expect him to still be the primary RB. Dungy is just being cautious since this will be Addai's first year as a full-time starter. He should still be considered a No. 1 Fantasy RB. As for his backup, the battle is expected to come down primarily to either Dorsey, who gained valuable experience a year ago in learning the Colts intricate offensive system, and Keith. Depending on who it is, they might be worth drafting late in Fantasy leagues as insurance for Addai.
News: According to the Indianapolis Star, the Colts have looked into adding a veteran RB to complement Joseph Addai. The agent for free agent Kevan Barlow said he has discussed his client with the Colts, who are looking to replace Dominic Rhodes in their backfield. Rhodes, whose tag-team effort with Addai was instrumental in the Colts' run to a Super Bowl victory last season, signed with Oakland in March.
Analysis: Barlow, 28, was released by the New York Jets last month. He has appeared in 84 games in a six-year career, 33 as a starter with the Jets and San Francisco 49ers. His best season was 2003, when he rushed for 1,024 yards, 5.1 per carry. With Rhodes' departure, Addai is the only running back on the Colts' roster who has carried the ball during the regular season. The other backs include DeDe Dorsey, Kenton Keith and Luke Lawton.
News: The Newark Star-Ledger is among those reporting that a source close to the negotiations confirms that free-agent RB Dominic Rhodes has agreed to terms on a contract with the Raiders. It's believed to be a two-year deal. If this is confirmed, the Colts will have Addai as their full-time running back at the present moment.
Analysis: Addai led all rookies in yards from scrimmage last season, ending with 1,081 rush yards, 325 receiving yards and eight total touchdowns (four coming in one game). Keep in mind, those were his numbers sharing with Rhodes! If the Colts don't find someone for Addai to split with, then you're looking at a No. 1 Fantasy RB worth a pick between ninth and 12th overall in 2007 Fantasy drafts (anywhere past there is a steal).
News: Colts rookie RB Joseph Addai started Super Bowl XLI and had 19 carries for 77 yards and 10 catches for 66 yards. The 10 receptions is the most for a running back in Super Bowl history.
Analysis: Addai's first season ends with plenty of success (he had the most total offensive yards of any rookie) and potential (he's in line to be Indy's every-down running back with Dominic Rhodes headed for free agency). We view Addai as a low-end No. 1 Fantasy RB at this point, although there is still a great chance that he will split some reps in his second season. For those of you in keeper leagues, if you can stick with Addai at almost any price, don't hesitate.
News: In a season highlighted by superb rookies, Colts RB Joseph Addai was one of the best. He replaced Edgerrin James, who left for Arizona as free agent, and rushed for 1,081 yards, seven TDs and a 4.8 average. He also caught 40 passes. He has run very well in playoffs, looking fresh and gained 217 yards in three postseason games, with two scores, and has 12 receptions.
Analysis: Consider Addai a good start in Fantasy playoff leagues and a No. 1 RB option heading into 2007.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai had 14 carries for 56 yards and a touchdown against the Patriots in the AFC Championship Game. He also had two catches for 4 yards.
Analysis: Addai capped the Colts comeback with the game-winning touchdown. He remain a good start fpr Fantasy playoff leagues against the Bears in the Super Bowl.
News: Indianapolis rookie RB Joseph Addai ran for 1,081 yards and seven touchdowns during the regular season, while veteran Dominic Rhodes ran for 641 yards and five touchdowns. Addai and Rhodes combined for 76 catches and 556 yards in the regular season. The Colts have had rare success with the two-back system. Just four AFC teams had two backs run for at least 600 yards: Indianapolis, New England, Jacksonville (Fred Taylor 1,146, Maurice Jones-Drew 941) and Denver (Tatum Bell 1,025, Mike Bell 677). Those teams were a combined 41-23 in the regular season.
Analysis: Addai had a stellar rookie season and should be a Fantasy stud in 2007. He has done well in the playoffs also and is a good start for the AFC Championship Game. Rhodes has returned to a Fantasy reserve and will remain that way next year also.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai had 18 carries for 39 yards against Baltimore in the second round of the playoffs. He was outrushed by Dominic Rhodes (14 carries, 56 yards), but Addai played despite being injured (chest). He also added three catches for 22 yards.
Analysis: Addai should bounce back with a solid game in the AFC Championship Game against New England. Consider him a safe start in Fantasy playoff leagues.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (chest) is in uniform Saturday against the Ravens and is expected to play.
Analysis: It appears safe to use Addai in Fantasy postseason leagues, but keep your expectations in line. The Ravens have one of the best defenses in the league.
News: Colts running back Joseph Addai didn't practice because of a chest injury, but it appears he'll play at Baltimore in the Divisional Playoffs. He missed part of practice on Tuesday. Coach Tony Dungy didn't even bring it up while speaking with the media. He is listed as questionable for Divisional Playoff game at Baltimore.
Analysis: Expect Addai to play, but keep expectations down as he faces a strong and rested Ravens defense.
News: Colts rookie RB Joseph Addai had 25 carries for 122 yards and a touchdown plus seven catches for 26 yards in the team's Wild Card win vs. Kansas City. Addai was involved in the offense for nearly the entire game.
Analysis: Addai's star keeps rising as the Colts continue to use him more and more in the offense. Expect him to get around 15-to-20 touches but not much statistical success at Baltimore in the Divisional Playoffs.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai had 21 carries for 64 yards and three catches for 29 yards against Miami. He also lost a fumble.
Analysis: Addai came on as a solid rookie RB this year and should be considered a low-end No. 1 option for 2007.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (back) was able to play in Week 15 at Houston, finishing with 100 yards on 15 carries. He also caught four passes for eight yards.
Analysis: Addai came up big for Fantasy owners in the playoffs, but a touchdown would have been nice. The fact that the Colts lost the game means that they'll have something to play for in Week 16 at home vs. Miami.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (back, probable) will play for the Colts in Week 16 at Houston.
Analysis: This was expected to be the case, but if you activate him now if you weren't sure.
News: Colts rookie RB Joseph Addai practiced Friday and has been cleared to play Sunday against the Texans in his hometown of Houston. Addai had sat out two days of workouts this week to rest a sprained right ankle that he hurt in the third quarter of Monday night's 34-16 win over Cincinnati. Initial reports had Addai sidelined indefinitely with a high-ankle sprain, but Colts coach Tony Dungy was adamant the injury wasn't serious and that Addai might be ready to play at Houston. The Colts' first-round draft choice from LSU wore a walking boot while he watched the team practice Wednesday and Thursday. "My ankle feels better now," Addai said Friday. "I feel like I'll be playing this week. We've been taking it slow, but it's been getting better day-by-day."
Analysis: Consider Addai a 'go' for Week 16, though it wouldn't hurt to double-check his status before the game at Houston. He should be useful as a top-end No. 3 Fantasy RB, but be wary that if the Colts build a big lead, the coaches will pull him to keep him as healthy as possible.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai sprained his right ankle against Cincinnati and missed practice Wednesday and Thursday, although coach Tony Dungy still expects him to play against the Texans. Addai leads all rookie rushers with 917 yards and is eager to play in his home town. If Addai can't play, Dominic Rhodes would likely get the bulk of the carries rather than splitting them with Addai. "I think he'll go," Dungy said Thursday. "He did some drill work today, and I think he'll do a little in practice tomorrow."
Analysis: Consider Addai a No. 2 option for Week 16 against the Texans but continue to monitor his status before putting him in your lineup. If Addai does play, Rhodes would be a No. 3 option. If Rhodes is the starter and Addai is out, then Rhodes should be considered a No. 2 RB.
News: Colts rookie RB Joseph Addai rolled his right ankle Monday night on a 41-yard run in Week 15 and was initially diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain. Dungy said after the game and Tuesday that it was not a high-ankle sprain and he expected Addai to play Sunday in his hometown of Houston. "I heard on the news reports that it was a high-ankle sprain, and I thought I made it pretty clear last night that it wasn't," Dungy said. "It's a basketball-type sprain. It's sore, but I think he should be OK." He is listed as questionable for Week 16 at Houston.
Analysis: Consider Addai a No. 2 Fantasy RB when he plays at Houston in Week 16. He should be all right.
News: Coach Tony Dungy announced after Monday's Week 15 game against the Bengals that rookie RB Joseph Addai suffered a high ankle sprain in the fourth quarter. He was seen with an ice pack wrapped around his right ankle in the closing moments of the game.
Analysis: Addai might be done for the remainder of the regular season, as the team rests him and gets the rookie ready for the postseason. That might mean RB Dominic Rhodes will have to shoulder more of the load down the stretch for the Colts. Addai's status for Week 16 at Houston has not yet been announced, but a high ankle sprain is much more serious than your regular sprain, tweak or twist.
News: Joseph Addai is on the sidelines with his right ankle wrapped with an ice bag midway through the fourth quarter of Week 15 against the Bengals. The Colts are saying his return is probable, but it appears he is done for the evening.
Analysis: Addai has eight carries for 50 yards and he also had two receptions for 29 yards. It is unlikely that he will return since the Colts are up 34-16 with less than six minutes to go and the Bengals with the football.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (foot) is questionable for Week 15 vs. Cincinnati
Analysis: If healthy enough to play, consider Addai a No. 3 RB for Week 15 against the Bengals.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai had 11 carries for 22 yards against Jacksonville. He also added one catch for 14 yards.
Analysis: Consider Addai a No. 3 RB for Week 15 against the Bengals.
News: Colts rookie RB Joseph Addai rushed 16 times for 56 yards with an 11-yard catch at Tennessee in Week 13.
Analysis: It's a pretty far cry from his four-TD output of a week ago. Addai is in for a rough go of it when he plays at Jacksonville in Week 14, so consider him a No. 3 RB for that game.
News: Joseph Addai had 24 carries for 171 yards and four touchdowns in Week 12 against the Eagles. He was also good for two receptions for 37 yards.
Analysis: Addai had just three touchdowns through the first 10 games and four on Sunday. He remains a decent No. 2 or 3 Fantasy running back or 'flex' option in Week 13 at Tennessee. His four-touchdown performance tied a franchise record, as he joined Eric Dickerson, Lydell Mitchell and Lenny Moore in the record books. Not bad company, eh?
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai rushed for 50 yards on 13 carries in a Week 11 loss to Dallas. He also had one reception for seven yards.
Analysis: Addai is still having a pretty good rookie season despite the low-output Week 11. Consider him a No. 2 RB for Week 11 vs. Philadelphia.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai had 13 carries for 78 yards and a touchdown against Buffalo. Addai also had seven catches for 46 yards.
Analysis: Addai is quietly having a nice rookie season. Consider him a solid No. 2 RB for Week 11 against Dallas.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai (wrist) is listed as questionable for Week 10 vs. Buffalo. Addai did practice on Wednesday.
Analysis: Addai did not seem too bothered by the same wrist injury in Week 9 against the Patriots. He was questionable leading up to the game. He remains a decent No. 3 Fantasy running back or 'flex' option for Week 10 against the Bills.
News: Rookie Joseph Addai carried 18 times for 43 yards and a touchdown in Week 9 at New England.
Analysis: Addai did not seem too bothered by a wrist injury which had him questionable for the game. He remains a decent No. 3 Fantasy running back or 'flex' option for Week 10 against the Bills.
News: Rookie RB Joseph Addai (wrist) is active for Week 9 at New England despite being listed as questionable on this week's injury report.
Analysis: It appears safe to keep Addai in the active Fantasy lineup in all leagues.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai incurred a slight wrist injury in the Broncos game. Addai was able to play with the injury and is expected to play this week at New England. He is listed as questionable for Week 9.
Analysis: Addai seems to be taking over for the Colts at running back for Dominic Rhodes, though both see significant playing time. Consider him a No. 3 Fantasy RB at New England in Week 9.
News: Colts rookie RB Joseph Addai racked up a total of 105 yards (85 rushing, 20 receiving) in Week 8 in a 36-22 win over the Redskins.
Analysis: Addai now has more than 350 yards rushing and looks as though is getting acquainted to life in the NFL. He is still splitting carries with Dominic Rhodes and should be considered a No. 3 Fantasy RB on a weekly basis. The Colts play the Broncos in Week 8 and you might want to use another RB for Fantasy purposes.
News: Colts RB Joseph Addai, who came into the NFL with a reputation as a good blocker, gets his carries, sharing with Dominic Rhodes, but also has been one of Manning's key protectors in third-down situations. Indy leads the league in third-down conversions at 58.5 percent. "Everybody wants to be 'the guy,"' Addai said. "But as long as I'm playing, I'm cool with that. You just try to take advantage of what you get."
Analysis: Addai has 269 rush yards, four less than Rhodes, but has done it on 20 less carries. He also has 13 catches for 87 yards and two total TDs. Consider Addai a No. 3 Fantasy RB on a regular basis, including vs. Washington in Week 7.
News: RB Joseph Addai rushed for 62 yards on 13 carries in the Colts' 14-13 win over the Titans in Week 5. He also had two receptions for 15 yards.
Analysis: Addai got most of his carries in the second half and helped the Colts claw their way to a win. It will probably be on most occassions that Dominic Rhodes will start the game and Addai will then relieve him. The Colts are on a bye in Week 6, but return to action in Week 7 against the Redskins.
News: Colts rookie RB Joseph Addai had 20 carries for 84 yards with a rushing TD and three catches for 15 yards at the N.Y. Jets in Week 4. He had more touches than his veteran teammate, Dominic Rhodes.
Analysis: Addai could see more time in the future in Indy's backfield. Moreover, he should see plenty of garbage time vs. Tennessee in Week 5. Consider him a very low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB or a primo No. 3 option next week.
News: Colts rookie RB Joseph Addai had three carries for 15 yards and three catches for 13 yards against the Jaguars.
Analysis: RB Dominic Rhodes had more carries (14) and yards (48) than Addai. The Colts face the Jets in Week 4, so look for Addai to get plenty of opportunities. Consider him a low-end No. 3 or flex back as long as he continues to share carries.
News: Colts rookie RB Joseph Addai rushed for 82 yards on 16 carries and had a recieving touchdown in the Colts' Week 2 win over the Texans. Addai caught a 21-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter.
Analysis: Addai did share the running load with RB Dominic Rhodes, but it looks as though the Colts are prepping him to be the No. 1 guy in Indy. The Colts face the Jaguars in Week 3 and Addai is still a risky start because he is a rookie. Then again, with Peyton Manning opening the field for him with the passing game, he could be ahead of the rookie learning curve.
News: Despite struggling to run in their victory over the Giants, the Colts remain optimistic about improving their ground attack heading into Sunday's AFC South matchup against the Houston Texans at the RCA Dome. Indianapolis, playing its first regular season game since losing running back Edgerrin James to Arizona during the offseason, managed 55 yards rushing on 23 carries against the Giants. One player who expects to improve this Sunday is starting running back Dominic Rhodes, who averaged 1.8 yards per carry in the 26-21 win over New York. Rookie Joseph Addai, the 30th overall selection in April's NFL draft, rushed for 26 yards on seven attempts. "The running will come," Rhodes said. "Right now, it doesn't matter as long as we win."
Analysis: Rhodes had more reps than Addai in Week 1, though the same might not happen if Indy builds a huge lead as expected vs. Houston in Week 2. Consider Rhodes a low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB for now, but Addai is expected to be the one to end up with more reps since he'd carry the ball late in the game for Indy if they have a huge lead.
News: Rookie Joseph Addai had seven carries for 26 yards in Week 1 at N.Y. Giants and he also contributed three receptions for 22 yards.
Analysis: Dominic Rhodes saw 19 touches to just 10 for rookie Joseph Addai. The two running backs will split carries for the time being. Addai is a decent No. 3 running back or 'flex' option for Week 2 against Houston.
News: Joseph Addai may not be under the same intense glare Sunday night, but this will be his NFL debut and the Colts' ground game was sluggish during the preseason. Fans expect big things from Addai, and next week, Addai plays in front of his hometown crowd in Houston. A good performance would give him some momentum before heading home. Coach Tony Dungy and team president Bill Polian also have been cautious with their soft-spoken rookie, warning against the inevitable comparisons between Addai and Edgerrin James who are built almost exactly the same. "Coming into the NFL there is a lot of pressure, but I understand what I can do and Dom (Rhodes) knows what he can do," Addai said. "The key is getting it done. You always have big shoes to fill, but I know what I can do."
Analysis: We are expecting Rhodes to start and Addai to see lots of playing time, though both work as third-down backs, so there could be another sort of rotation on third downs. Consider Addai as a very low-level No. 3 Fantasy RB to start the season since it looks like Rhodes will take the lion's share of the reps. That could change as the season rolls on. Addai should be owned in all leagues and has potential to have a strong season as a rookie in Indianapolis.
News: Colts head coach Tony Dungy likes where his running game is right now even though the Colts have averaged 64 yards per game on the ground. Dominic Rhodes has 46 rush yards on 17 carries (2.7 yards per run) and Joseph Addai has 32 yards on 21 reps (1.5 yards per carry). Neither are Indy's leading rusher: Kory Chapman has 51 yards on 17 carries (3.0 yards per touch). "All in all, I think our running game is about where it's been in the past," Dungy said. "People play us a little differently in the preseason than they do in the regular season. And we know that we're going to get some good looks to run against in the regular season. And when we do, I think we'll run effectively."
Analysis: The plan, for now, is for the Colts to split reps between Rhodes and Addai since neither one had a standout preseason. Rhodes is expected to get more reps than Addai when the season begins, but Rhodes is injury prone and may not last the whole season. Addai, on the other hand, is a bigger, healthier back and has a lot of upside. Consider both No. 3 Fantasy rushers, but because Addai's potential is greater than Rhodes', expect to see him drafted first (between Rounds 4 and 6).
News: Rookie Joseph Addai and Dominic Rhodes are competing this preseason to replace Edgerrin James. Addai ran for 12 yards on nine carries, while Rhodes finished with 21 yards on seven runs in Saturday's preseason game at New Orleans.
Analysis: Colts head coach Tony Dungy said he would continue to use both backs, "Depending on what team we are playing. We have confidence in those guys, and again (Saturday) they both did a good job." While splitting carries, the backs are only worth a look as a No. 3 running back or 'flex' option in most Fantasy leagues.
News: Joseph Addai carried nine times for just 17 yards in Sunday's preseason game against the Seahawks. He also had one reception for 16 yards, as he did not do much in his pursuit for the No. 1 tailback job in Indianapolis.
Analysis: The good news for the rookie is that his main competition for the job, Dominic Rhodes, had just 15 yards on six rushes. Coach Tony Dungy said the two would have a chance to "distinguish themselves" on Sunday, but it looks like that will have to wait until at least Aug. 26 at New Orleans.
News: Rookie Joseph Addai and career backup Dominic Rhodes will get their opportunities in Sunday's preseason game against the Seahawks. Coach Tony Dungy said they will be given chances to "distinguish themselves."
Analysis: Addai, the rookie out of LSU, has a little more upside, but the battle is still wide open at this point. Rhodes is worth a middle-round pick as a No. 3 Fantasy RB with the potential to slip to a No. 4, whereas Addai's potential puts him in as an early- to middle-round choice, starting out as a No. 3 RB but with the potential to rise into a No. 2.
News: Colts head coach Tony Dungy and president Bill Polian have both cautioned against the inevitable comparisons of rookie RB Joseph Addai to ex-Colt Edgerrin James, and team officials still expect Dominic Rhodes and Addai to split carries this season. However, Addai has been impressive at practice. He's repeatedly demonstrated that he can hit holes quickly and accelerate past one of the league's fastest defenses. He's also proven he can make fluid changes, catch passes and, most important, pick up blitzers -- all essential ingredients to the Colts' success. What Addai must prove now is that he can excel in games, too. He barely got a chance in Thursday night's preseason opener at St. Louis, where he carried only three times for three yards. He also caught two passes for 12 yards. Addai will likely get more opportunities in Sunday's preseason home opener against defending NFC champion Seattle.
Analysis: The preseason continues to be a learning process for Addai, but the fact that he's got the hang of the offense won't slow him down one bit. Owners should expect a split between him and Rhodes, but they are very different Fantasy players: Rhodes is worth a middle-round pick as a No. 3 Fantasy RB with the potential to slip to a No. 4, whereas Addai's potential puts him in as an early- to middle-round choice, starting out as a No. 3 RB but with the potential to rise into a No. 2.
News: The two Colts running backs seeking to fill the void left by the departure of Edgerrin James were unimpressive in Thursday's preseason opener at St. Louis. Veteran Dominic Rhodes carried four times for 10 yards; first-round draft pick Joseph Addai carried three times for 3 yards.
Analysis: Rhodes is ahead in the race for the starting spot in Indy, though the preseason game showed a little about what he can and cannot do. Ultimately, both rushers should split time, which will create havoc for Fantasy owners. Addai is the better blocker and the healthier of the two, but Rhodes' familiarity with the offense puts him in good shape to start. Rhodes is worth a middle-round pick as a No. 3 Fantasy RB with the potential to slip to a No. 4, whereas Addai's potential puts him in as an early- to middle-round choice, starting out as a No. 3 RB but with the potential to rise into a No. 2.
News: The Indianapolis Star reports that Colts RB Dominic Rhodes is expected to start the team's first preseason game Aug. 10 at St. Louis, but will give way to rookie RB Joseph Addai, who will play extensively. "Joseph needs to play," head coach Tony Dungy said. "We'd like to get him a little bit with the first group, then get him a good dose with the second group." The paper said the first-team offense will only play about 15 plays, then the reserves will start to take over.
Analysis: Rhodes could be ahead in the race for the starting spot in Indy, though that preseason game will show a lot about what he can and cannot do. 2.
News: The Colts signed top draft pick Joseph Addai, the heir apparent for Edgerrin James, on Saturday night. The former LSU star, selected 30th overall, agreed to a five-year deal. "He told me they expect big things from him, obviously, they took him with the No. 1 pick," Addai's agent said. "Much is expected of him, and he intends to live up to that."
Analysis: Addai is expected to split carries this season with Dominic Rhodes as the two try to replace James, who rushed for more than 9,200 yards in seven years with Indianapolis. James signed with Arizona as a free agent. Consider the talented, fresh legs of Addai a solid sleeper at the running back position. Whoever earns the starting job and goal-line carries for the Colts could be a Fantasy stud.
News: Colts QB Peyton Manning said he likes the team's decision to draft Joseph Addai to help replace Edgerrin James. "I'm biased toward Southeastern Conference players. I think he's been well battle-tested," Manning said. "He's going to be able to come in and help us. Dominic Rhodes will play as well, but everybody else is going to have to raise their level of play."
Analysis: Rhodes is considered the favorite to start at this point, but Addai has gone ahead of him in most experts drafts. The rookie has a ton of potential and is well worth a fourth- to sixth-round selection.
News: Colts.com reports that because the Colts didn't draft another running back after Joseph Addai, the team will stick mainly with him, Dominic Rhodes, James Mungro and Kory Chapman and first-year player Vashon Pearson. "We knew we wanted to use this offseason and training camp to get Joseph Addai a lot of work," Dungy said. "We're primarily a one-back team, so we didn't want to overload it too much."
Analysis: If Addai can run off with the starting job this summer, he'll be set to see a ton of reps in 2006. The Colts prefer to use one running back most of the time, and as long as Addai is effective, it will stay that way. Addai could turn into an early third-round pick in drafts by the time the summer rolls around.
News: With the 30th pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, the Colts selected LSU RB Joseph Addai. The speedy runner will be in the mix with Dominic Rhodes to start for Indy this season -- a battle to definitely watch this summer. Addai (5-11, 215) has good speed (4.49), great hands and does a good job pass blocking, which is important in pass-friendly Indianapolis.
Analysis: Addai could be the second-best RB Fantasywise in the draft since it's likely that he will get plenty of carries this season in Indy's backfield. He is built a lot like Edgerrin James and may be almost as good, which is precisely what the Colts need. Consider Addai a third- or fourth-round pick in seasonal formats and a top-five pick in dynasty rookie-only drafts.
