News: The Cardinals signed free agent safety Sean Considine on Tuesday. Considine had been released by the Panthers on Oct. 4.
Analysis: Considine was added to provide roster depth. He is not in position to help in Fantasy leagues. Leave him on waivers in all leagues until further notice.
News: Carolina claimed S Jermale Hines on Tuesday off waivers from Indianapolis, reports the team's official site. The Panthers released safety Sean Considine.
Analysis: The 28-year-old Considine forced one fumble this season in four games for the Panthers. Otherwise, he has almost no stats to speak of. Considine should not be owned in Fantasy IDP leagues.
News: SS Stevie Brown's tenure with the Panthers didnt last long. The Panthers cut him after just one practice and decided to bring back veteran SS Sean Considine to take his place. It was a little bit unexpected, but at the same time Im thankful to be back, Considine said. It was unfortunate that it happened but in a short time period it was made right.
Analysis: Consedine will serve as a reserve DB and Brown will look for work elsewhere, but neither option is worth holding onto for Fantasy purposes. Ignore them both in all IDP formats.
News: WTVO in Rockford, Illinois reports that the Panthers released DB Sean Considine on Sunday in order to make room for an offensive line addition.
Analysis: Considine had 52 tackles last season with the Jaguars and he ws not expected to start normally for Carolina had he remained on the team. He is a quality reserve and a consistent special teams option, but he does not have much Fantasy value. Ignore Considine even if he resurfaces with another team.
News: With S Courtney Greene (shoulder) out for the Week 15 game against the Colts, Sean Considine will start in his place. He started last week's game as well and managed five tackles.
Analysis: The sixth-year pro out of Iowa is a solid tackler, but he lacks the coverage skills to impact Fantasy play. Continue to avoid him even though he's in the starting lineup.
News: Jaguars DB Sean Considine (hamstring) was listed as inactive for Week 5 at Buffalo. He had been listed as questionable on the injury report.
Analysis: Considine is averaging eight tackles per game and has a sack in three games, but he is still more of a low-end Fantasy start when healthy. Keep him reserved until further notice.
News: Jaguars DB Sean Considine (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Week 5 at Buffalo. Considine, who was limited in practice all week, was doubtful for Week 4 as well before being ruled inactive.
Analysis: It seems as though Considine will spend another week on the bench as he recovers from his hamstring problem. He is averaging eight tackles per game and has a sack in three games, but Considine is still more of a low-end Fantasy start when healthy.
News: Jacksonville was without starting safety Sean Considine on Sunday against Indianapolis. He was limited in practice on Thursday as he's been dealing with a hamstring injury and didn't practice on Wednesday or Friday.
Analysis: Through three weeks, Considine is averaging eight tackles a game and has recorded one sack. He's been a bright spot on an otherwise disappointing defense. He should be considered a decent low-end Fantasy DB in IDP leagues, when healthy.
News: It seems the Jaguars might be without starting FS Sean Considine for Week 4 against the Colts. Considine is listed as doubtful after missing practice on Wednesday and Friday. He did practice on Thursday but only in a limited capacity. Tyron Brackenridge will likely start in Considine's absence.
Analysis: Considine is off to a quick start in 2010, averaging eight tackles per game. He also has one sack. He has mostly been a backup player in his career, but Considine has done well when he has been given regular playing time. He is a decent low-end Fantasy start when healthy, but look to healthier alternatives for Week 4.
News: Jaguars DB Sean Considine had a productive Week 3 against his former team -- the Eagles. He led Jacksonville with six tackles and sacked QB Michael Vick in the 28-3 loss.
Analysis: Considine has 20 tackles through his first three games and, although he is not that strong in the passing game, he is a ball-hawk that should be able to surpass the 35 tackles he posted a year ago. He has some appeal in deeper IDP leagues at this point but could be a sleeper later on in the season if he can continue to produce.
News: Jaguars DB Sean Considine (nine tackles), LB Clint Ingram (eight tackles), DL Quentin Groves (tackle, interception) and DL John Henderson (two tackles, fumble recovery) all had fine outings in a Week 10 win over the Jets.
Analysis: While these four had solid performances on Sunday, they are all non-factors in IDP play heading into Week 10 vs. Buffalo.
News: Jaguars WR Tiquan Underwood, DB Rashean Mathis, DB Sean Considine, DB Brian Witherspoon, LB Bryan Smith and DL Greg Peterson have all been ruled inactive for Week 8 at Tennessee.
Analysis: Mathis is a pretty important defender for the Jags, but he is currently out battling a finger injury. He is worth starting as a low-end Fantasy DB when healthy. Most of the other players are reserves and have little to no Fantasy appeal. Keep them reserved for Week 8.
News: Jaguars inactive list Week 5 at Seattle: WR Mike Sims-Walker, CB Scott Starks, S Sean Considine, LB Adam Seward, LB Justin Durant, G Kynan Forney, T Jordan Black and DT Greg Peterson.
Analysis: Sims-Walker was held out of the game for a violation of team rules. The rest of these players have little to no Fantasy value.
News: Jaguars S Sean Considine (groin), DT Greg Peterson (knee), LB Adam Seward (groin) and CB Scott Starks have all been ruled out of the team's Week 5 game at Seattle.
Analysis: None of these players have any Fantasy value. Continue to ignore them in all formats.
News: Jacksonville SS Sean Considine suffered a groin injury Week 3 against the Texans, but Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio wasn't sure of the extent of the injury after the game.
Analysis: Considine is not a relvant Fantasy player and should be ignored in all formats even when healthy.
News: The Eagles listed their Week 1 inactives and none of the following players were included: Lorenzo Booker (hip), Chris Clemons (calf), Sean Considine (hand) and DB Brian Dawkins (ankle).
Analysis: Booker and Dawkins are the most relevant in Fantasy play. While Booker is more of an insurance policy for starter Brian Westbrook, Dawkins is capable of racking up tackles and pass defense stats, which makes him worth using as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy DB. Start him if you're in a deep league. Booker, on the other hand, probably won't total more than 10 touches and should remain benched. There's no use for Clemons or Considine in Fantasy play at this point.
News: Eagles RB Lorenzo Booker (hip), DE Chris Clemons (calf), SS Sean Considine (hand) and FS Brian Dawkins (ankle) are all listed as probable for Week 1 vs. St. Louis. All four should see the field.
News: Strong safety Sean Considine will miss the rest of the season after hurting his left shoulder in the Eagles' loss to Dallas on Sunday night. Considine, who became a starter before the midpoint of last season, was placed on injured reserve. Coach Andy Reid was unsure of Considine's future. "I think they are going to be able to either repair it or he'll be able to rehab it and be okay," Reid said. "We'll just have to see down the road how things go with this thing."
Analysis: Considine was only owned in three percent of leagues, so the Fantasy impact of this roster move is minimal. Owners of Considine in long-term keeper leagues might be more worried and should look for a different option.
News: Eagles DB Sean Considine hurt his ankle in practice Thursday but returned to the field Friday and is also questionable for Week 8 against Minnesota.
Analysis: Considine has minimal Fantasy value and is not worth using in IDP leagues even when healthy.
News: Sean Considine (knee) was able to play in Week 4 at N.Y. Giants. He recorded four solo tackles in the loss.
Analysis: Considine is only worth a look in the deepest of Fantasy IDP leagues. The Eagles play at N.Y. Jets in Week 6 once they return from a bye.
News: DB Sean Considine made the only interception for either team in the Eagles' 56-21 Week 3 win over the Lions.
Analysis: With the amount of balls flying through the air on Sunday, it's a shock that only one pick was made. Considine is the starting SS for the Eagles, but he doesn't make enough plays to be a decent IDP candidate.
News: Sean Considine, who has been battling a sore knee, might have aggravated his injury in Week 2 against the Redskins.
Analysis: Despite being a starter for the Eagles, Considine is only considered a low-end DB option in deeper Fantasy IDP leagues. The Eagles host the Lions in Week 3.
News: While fans and commentators might be grumbling about him, Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Johnson is high on S Sean Considine, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. "I've got a lot of confidence in him," said Johnson. "I think he's an excellent safety. I think he's a guy who can play in the box, and who can play deep half. He's very smart, he's one of our leaders, and I expect a good year out of him. I've always said he has a knack for finding the football, and I think it's going to come to light."
Analysis: When healthy, Considine is a solid low-end No. 2 defensive back option in IDP Fantasy leagues. If you own Considine, keep an eye on him just to make sure he continues to start for the Eagles.
News: Eagles DL LaJuan Ramsey (ankle), DL Ian Scott (knee), DB Sean Considine (concussion), WR Bill Sampy (leg) and TE L.J. Smith (hernia) were unable to suit up for Thursday's preseason game against the Jets.
Analysis: When healthy, Considine is a solid low-end No. 2 defensive back option in IDP Fantasy leagues.
News: Eagles S Sean Considine left Sunday's preseason game at Pittsburgh in the first half with a concussion. He led all players with seven tackles (four solo, three assists) and a pass defensed before departing.
Analysis: When healthy, Considine is a solid low-end No. 2 defensive back option in IDP Fantasy leagues.
News: The Eagles DST gave up 31 points against the Titans with three sacks and one fumble recovery. DL Trent Cole had eight tackles and 1.5 sacks. DB Brian Dawkins had six tackles. LB Jeremiah Trotter had eight tackles. DB Michael Lewis had three tackles. DL Darren Howard had three tackles and a sack. DB Lito Sheppard had one tackle. DL Mike Patterson had three tackles and a fumble recovery. And DB Sean Considine had two tackles and a half-sack.
Analysis: Consider the Eagles DST a No. 2 option against the Colts in Week 12. Use all IDP players as needed.
News: The Express-Times reports that Eagles defensive coordinator is satisfied with the play of FS Sean Considine and has demoted former starter Michael Lewis to a lesser role. "Right now, we're very happy with Sean (Considine as the starting strong safety), and Mike is a role player," Johnson said. "He's playing sometimes in safety in certain personnel groups, he's playing linebacker in certain personnel groups, so he's still a big part of it. But right now, Sean's our starting safety."
Analysis: Lewis should be cut in all leagues, whereas Considine is a nice low-end DB to use in Fantasy play.
News: Even though the Philadelphia Eagles have allowed more yards passing than usual, quarterbacks shouldn't salivate at the thought of facing a once-vaunted secondary. The Eagles (4-2) are 27th against the pass, allowing an average of 237.7 yards through the air per game. However, defensive coordinator Jim Johnson is confident a unit that includes five-time Pro Bowl free safety Brian Dawkins, former Pro Bowl cornerback Lito Sheppard and fellow cornerback Sheldon Brown still is a formidable group.
Analysis: Johnson points to injuries - Sheppard missed three games and nickel back Rod Hood has been sidelined the last three - and other factors such as the Eagles had big leads in many of their games and played a bend-but-don't-break defense. While the secondary has played better than the numbers indicate, some of those big plays have been costly. Brown was beaten by Plaxico Burress for a game-winning, 31-yard TD catch in a 30-24 overtime loss to the New York Giants in Week 2. Lewis, a Pro Bowl selection two years ago, bit on a fake and gave up Joe Horn's tying 48-yard TD catch in a 27-24 loss to the Saints last week. Michael Lewis was replaced by second-year pro Sean Considine and both are expected to play against Tampa Bay on Sunday. Consider them a good unit to use in any format for Week 7 at Tampa Bay against a team that has struggled offensively.
News: Eagles DB Brian Dawkins (wrist), DB Lito Sheppard (hand) and DB Sean Considine (shoulder) are probable for Week 7 at Tampa Bay.
Analysis: The Eagles secondary has been battered all season, and yet, they are still among the best defenses in the league. The Eagles DST didn't have a great performance in Week 6 against the Saints, but facing a rookie Bucs QB Bruce Gradkowski in Week 7 should provide for an easier matchup. Consider using the Eagles DST in Week 7. As for IDP players, Sheppard should be ready to go and he is a legit No. 1 Fantasy DB. Dawkins is a No. 2 or No. 3 Fantasy DB on most occassions. Considine is usually not a viable option, however, there has been talk in Philly that he could take over for the struggling Michael Lewis. Until that is official, Considine should be nowhere near your IDP roster.
News: Eagles coach Andy Reid said Wednesday that he will split reps at strong safety between Michael Lewis and Sean Considine this week. "We're doing packages with both the guys. They're both going to play and we'll see ... who the starter is and who the starter isn't."
Analysis: Owners are advised to be very careful starting either Lewis or Considine in Week 7. If they split reps, don't expect more than a handful of tackles from either player, making them No. 3 or 4 Fantasy DBs at best for Week 7.
News: Eagles DB Dexter Wynn (shin), LB Shawn Barber (hip), WR Jason Avant (ankle), DB Sean Considine (shoulder), RB Reno Mahe (ankle) and LB Matt McCoy (hip) are listed as probable for Week 6 at New Orleans.
Analysis: None of these players have much Fantasy value except for McCoy, who is a decent bye-week replacement in IDP leagues.
News: Eagles LB Matt McCoy (stinger), DB Sean Considine (hip) and RB Reno Mahe (ankle) are listed as probable for Week 5 vs. Dallas.
Analysis: Neither Considine or Mahe should be bothered with concerning Fantasy Football, but McCoy on the other hand is an intriguing player. Right now he is a good bye-week replacement in IDP leagues, but the potential for him to emerge as a Fantasy dynamo is there. Watch his progress and make a weekly judgment on whether to play him or not.
News: DB Sean Considine (hip), DB Brian Dawkins (concussion), DL Darren Howard (knee), DB Michael Lewis (quadriceps), LB Matt McCoy (stinger) and DL Darwin Walker (quadriceps) were all able to play in Week 4 against the Packers.
Analysis: Considine had two solo tackles and a pass defensed, Dawkins had three solo tackles, an assist, pass defensed and forced fumble, Howard had a fumble recovery and Lewis had five solo tackles, an interception and a pass defensed. McCoy also chipped in with seven solo tackles and Walker was good for a solo tackle and quarterback hurry.
News: Eagles S Sean Considine (hip), RB/KR Reno Mahe (ankle), LB Matt McCoy (stinger), OT William Thomas (foot) and DT Darwin Walker (quadricep) are all listed as probable for Week 4 vs. Green Bay. The Eagles did not practice on Wednesday.
Analysis: All of these players are key contributors for the Eagles, but they won't help Fantasy owners win their league championships. Ignore them for now.
News: According to reports, the Philadelphia Eagles have placed S Sean Considine (shoulder) on injured reserve. He will miss the rest of the season.
Analysis: Considine has no value in Fantasy Football.
